If it goes full time, they better prepare some changes and rewards to rank system. It will be good ######### storm to watch otherwise.

They are. They've had it planned for at least six months now.

Ranks will reset back to 20 on the 13th of every month, and you will get a BP reward based on how high you climbed in a month.

You won't be able to depip, only gain pips. So it will literally be a measure of how many games you did well in, over a month.

You won't need to worry about doing badly, because it won't negatively impact anything, other than slightly reducing your MMR and possibly giving you more chill matches.

It can't come quickly enough. Playing killer was so much more satisfying with SBMM, and survivor felt no different. Now It's off, I'm back to being my rank 6 killer, constantly paired with red rank sweat squads, while my MMR quite rightly put me lower than that for most killers, and only that high for Spirit and Wraith where I can actually stand a chance against them.

Given that we had an entire week test this time, instead of two days like the previous tests, it seems like they're making some progress.

  • @peanutbutterwaffles said:

Or just let us pick if we want a survivor or killer daily so we aren't forced to try to swap it out for something we actually play.

The point of dailies is to encourage people to play things they usually don't. You already get to veto ones you absolutely will not do once a day.

Ummm. Hopefully not. Unless they plan on fixing maps and gen speeds to be more adventagious for killers.

It's just ssoooooo much fun having 3-4 gens pop before you can get 2-3 hooks

You just described every killer match with rank based matchmaking.

SBMM was great compared to that.

Because it's too easy to reach purple ranks as killer, and then get stuck facing red rank sweat squads every match, when your "skill" is markedly lower, which the SBMM recognises.

  • Yep, only three matches in and killer is already unbearable.

Guess no more killer until the next test or I derank out of purple ranks.

Yes glad it is gone. Hoping RE doesn't renew their license now.

That's just sad. Actually wishing to make the game worse.

  • Hawkins is the best indoor map, and one of my favourite maps in general.

Why would anyone celebrate content being removed?

  • @Clyxxy said:

One could be “Hook or Unhook survivors # many times”

This would be good actually. While possible to do as survivor, it would be easier to do as killer. So it would still be a neutral daily, AND encourage more people to play killer.

  • Every new killer added IS more survivor content.

Think of it like adding a new boss to an RPG. It's a new enemy to face, a new power to counteract and play against.

And it goes the other way too. Killers now have Flashbangs and Blast Mines to contend with.

But then what should I expect when survivors don't want killers to have powers and just want every killer to be Trapper without the traps?

  • You can choose to not trigger her traps. You crouch, and yes if the person being unhooked is holding the crouch button before they hit the floor then they'll be fine.

If she's close enough to get back to the hook anyway, without teleporting, then she's not doing anything any other killer can't.

Simply having a trap near the hook isn't camping. It's having a trap near a hook. That's her power, that's all she does, she's a 110% M1 killer with a low FoV without it, and you can avoid it completely, by simply crouching.

Why don't you play Hag and try it, for a few games not just one. I guarantee once you get out of the potato survivor bracket you're going to have a harder time "camping" while also pressuring gens. Especially when you have SWF's who tell each other where the traps are and choose to set them all off every time you're preoccupied and unable to teleport.

  • Also Eruption, you essentially pre-kick a gen, and you even get to incapacitate a survivor when you do it.

And Surge, lets you insta-kick any nearby gens.

No. I'll say one final time. The DC timer doesn't matter even if it is 5 minutes. It doesn't do enough to stave off the exploitation.

    15 minutes certainly does.

After that it's 30 minutes, and so on.

Do you get how they increase with each DC?

You get one 'free' DC if you consider that 5 minutes isn't a deterrent.

SWFs aren't continuously DCing like this, they wouldn't be able to play for hours at a time.

  • @Thrax said:

Just because they are in order don't mean you remember the name when you want to. You can misremember names or not know the icon offhand. I think it would be nice to allow presets. Say I want to change from my red herring/unhook build to my disappear under their nose build because two bills popped into the lobby. With no consistent length of time to queue it would be much easier to swap a loadout than find 4 perks you don't use as often.

I don't play as much as I once did and I play other things. It doesn't seem like that awful of a task and it could help everyone out. Just because you all play a bunch and don't have the issue don't mean it wouldn't be a nice QoL addition to a game that others not on the forums would enjoy a good deal.

    Preset Loadouts would be nice.

But how are you going to search for a perk that you don't remember the name of?

  • I know it's not entirely comparable, different economies and such. But in GBP, the 500 ac works out roughly equivalent to 540 ARS, and in USD it's 485 ARS.

While it may not be strictly fair for Argentinians, they were likely making barely any profit at all from the old prices once you factor in fees and exchange.

Every time I've DC'd, it's usually 3 minutes. I haven't gone beyond the first to know the next timer.

And again either way, the DC doesn't solve anything if it is still happening on a large scale. They should do a death animation for a DC'd survivor and it would probably help stave off the exploitation by just a little bit.

Is it taking you 2 minutes to get back to the lobby screen?

  • ...after 3000+ hours... wow.

  • @Desh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2430960#Comment_2430960

Depipping doesn't matter now due to the MMR. And the initial DC penalty is like 3 minutes. That's not much.

I'm very well aware that when it happens in game, I'm usually always dominating. But it shouldn't come down to the only way to win/escape against a Killer is DCing so your buddy gets hatch. It shouldn't be such a common occurrence that happens a lot in the community. A simple adjustment in game would stave it off, a DC penalty means nothing until it's so frequent that the time gets extended.

The SBMM is a test, it ends in two days, then ranks will be valid again.

It's 5 minutes, for the first DC, 2nd is 15 minutes, and it increases from there.

So more than one DC for that SWF is going to significantly hinder their gameplay.

  • They're getting a DC penalty and a depip for it. The jokes on them.

So what if they get the hatch, you got 2 DCs. You're already winning.

  • There's only like, 6 pages, and they're in alphabetical order.

It takes about 10 seconds to find the right page, then up to 15 seconds max to find the perk itself if you don't immediately recognise it's icon.

  • @Nos37 said:

The existence of the Disconnect Penalty does not effectively stop me from rage quitting matches; it only makes me more tilted when seeing how long I have to wait after the fact.

A better deterrent would be to show how long the next disconnect penalty will be in red text right next to the Leave Match button (or as part of a confirmation prompt with a 5 second delay before the Confirm option is available).

    ----

Someone saying "Stealing is bad. Don't do it." has less weight than "Stealing over $2,000 is a felony and will cost you 2-24 years in prison plus $1k-$1m in fines, restitution, and legal fees."

    This is bullshit.

You know what the DC penalty is. It starts at 5 minutes, and increases incrementally from there.

You can consider one DC a day to be your "allowance" if you don't mind 5 minutes, but anything more will tilt you.

If you're continually DCing, you are the problem, and you need to correct your behaviour.

  • No, I like the DC penalty because I'm sick of lazy, entitled players quitting because they just don't like a killer or map or have decided that because they got downed 20 seconds into a game it's not worth playing anymore.

You're screwing over four other players when you do that.

You queued for a game, you're commited to that game. Unless it's an urgent issue that is more important than the DC penalty you'll receive, you shouldn't be leaving.

Now if there's still performance issues with the game that is forcing you to DC, then sure, the penalty isn't appropriate. But ideally if everyone is playing the same game and you're not literally being kicked out of the game entirely out of your control, then the DC penalty works as a deterrent, and is needed as a deterrent, so you're not wasting the time of four other people just because you didn't get your favourite map.

  • I mean, I've done it once.

I was playing Wraith, then at 6s all survivors switched out to Flashlight builds. Yeah, no, I'm not rewarding that #########, especially when my power is completely nullified by a flashlight. (lightburn triggers faster than decloaking, so even if you try to decloak to avoid it, you're still getting a 7 second stun)

They lost 3 party streamers. No regrets.

  • This is just how the MMR finds it's place.

That player had no game history with which to base an MMR on, so it first pairs them with really low ranks. They do really well (because low ranks is killer sided) and so the MMR goes "okay, this player is somewhere above rank 20, but we don't know where, so lets try them out against rank 5s".

So this newbie killer goes against higher ranks, and loses badly, MMR goes "okay, so this player is somewhere between rank 5 and 20, lets try them at rank 12.... etc.

And so on until it settles them where they should be.

It will only be that bad for a players first few games, then the MMR will have a far more accurate gauge of where they should be, and eventually only adjust it in tiny increments when they win/lose.

He mentioned going down in 10 seconds, survivor attempting to kill themselves on hook as they finished a genny. An early one. They state, "if you can't run the killer for a gen, be prepared to stay on hook until one is completed"

Pretty clear, this is a gens before friends, situation at the early game. No thanks, I'd rather be saved and have a chance to play too. Going down early can happen to anyone.

You have time for them to complete the first gen before you go to second stage. Unless you literally went down 10 seconds into the match, not even the chase.

  • 1: When you can make great skill checks.

2: When you can successfully stealth-dupe a killer and get away without being detected.

3: When you can pallet stun a killer.

4: When you can pallet stun a killer AND escape the chase and lose the killer.

5: When you can loop the killer several times and they give up.

6: When you can flashlight stun a killer.

7: When you get a flashlight save.

Bonus: When you Head-On/Decisive-Strike stun a killer. When you Unbreakable and get away. When you wriggle free.

It takes a while to learn these things, and there will still be some bad matches even when you do, but generally, it's the satisfaction of pulling off these techniques that makes the game fun. I've yet to reach 7 but I've been having a blast for quite a while now.

  • @DreKShun said:

I'm actually surprised that some of you disagree with me. You actually would rather a gen regress back to nothing just to come and unhook you right then and there. Obviously skilled survivors (such as myself) make calculated plays and risks in the game.

If I get off the gen to come save you and find out the killer has sloppy butcher and then he/she returns to the hook, he has free pressure, could possibly re-down you, and also doesn't have to worry about the gen that was at 80% popping anymore, making the first 2-3 minutes of the match completely pointless because you go down 10 seconds into a chase

    I'm with you.

Hook timer is 60 seconds per stage. That's more than enough time to finish a gen from about halfway and still make the rescue.

I can't count the number of times I've saved a game by finishing a gen first. Hell I was against a Tinkerer Freddy yesterday, and instead of rescuing the guy who was hooked nearby the 80% gen he was working on, I finished the gen first before it dropped to 70% and procced Tinkerer again, robbing Freddy of the easy teleport, powered the gates, and then rescued potato Dwight.

  • He should either be able to teleport, or set traps (but not both like Freddy please)

Why on earth would the killer push the survivors out of the gate and allow the hatch to open, if they can just patrol between them and ensure the last guy can’t get out?

If the last guy is at full health, then catching him on the way to the exit is a certain escape, one hit → sprint boost → escape.

If you do manage to hook this last guy because they messed up somehow, then the survivors you didn't push out of the exit will surely rescue him off the hook and then they all escape.

If you push out the survivors you can't get anymore, then the last guy is on his own, it's now a race between you and him to the hatch, and killers get priority closing it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2428262#Comment_2428262

If you are familiar with DbD, you know perfectly well it's not how it works. A potato killer will always wipe the floor with potato survivors, because it takes much more time to learn how to loop than to learn how to follow survivors running in straight lines and hit them with a weapon. Almost every match at low ranks ends with 4k, it's a well known fact. So potato teammates will always doom you to fail, even if the killer is a cat walking on a keyboard.

So you're not a potato survivor. That means you'll be able to loop the potato killer really well, and waste their time, while the potato survivors sit on gens.

If a potato survivors goes down, you can make the save.

You get a ton of chase, stun, distraction, rescue, heal and protection points, and you increase your mmr.

  • How would they know that the last guy was standing on the hatch?

They could have been waiting to see if he needed rescuing.

  • Lower mmr → worse killer → easier to win → higher mmr → harder to win → ...

If you keep losing match after match and it doesn't seem like your mmr is moving down. You're either doing better than you think (you can pip even when you die, so theoretically you could score well on the mmr metrics even when you don't escape) or, you're just not that good in general.

Also, without looking it up, I can say with some certainty that Hellraiser came before SH.

Yes I'm very aware that Hellraiser came before Silent Hill. I'm talking about the design and quality of it.

It would not have wall crawling. It would not have vents to move through. It would not eat faces, save for a Mori. It would likely not have a tail attack. It would not have acid blood.

And yet a Demo that didn't have to worry about, or be held back by, his stupid portals, would be amazing. But perhaps we could get ther ein some other way, like a Wendigo or something.

How do I apply pressure 1 second in the match lol.

This Teams existed before, I know but with High MMR, the more chance you get to face these teams.

The only way to pop a gen in 20 seconds if for them to have used all their BNPs. That means the rest of the gens will not be that quick. Sure you're down 1 gen, but it's entirely possible to claw back a victory even if it takes you 3 gens to get your first hook.

  • Ghostface, Nemesis, and The freaking Pig aren't modern? Wow thanks for making me feel old.

I'm a Hellraiser fan and it's always been one of my dream chapters. I can't believe it's about to happen.

For those of you unfamiliar with the franchise you should watch the first 2 films to get an idea what it is all about.

I am disappointed in how angry and toxic the wider community is reacting to Hellraiser though. Like as if a licensed chapter isn't FNAF it means it sucks. That is terrible logic.

I'm not at all a fan of FnaF, but I'm not at all thrilled about Pinhead either. I think he has an awful, tacky design, the movies were awful, and the series as a whole just seems like a really tacky gore fetish. It's like if an edgy 12 yo decided to rip off Silent Hill.

I'd 100% prefer Candyman, same era, the movie has dated just as much, but the concept at least had some merit, and the movie was at least good for it's time.

Like there are some killer icons that people may not actively 'want' in the game, like Candyman or Pennywise, but if there are two that people specifically do NOT want, they are FnaF and Hellraiser. That's probably where the toxicity comes from.

  • You can't win with some people. What's a good gesture to some is BM to others.

  • To actually answer your question. The scene in Hellraiser where the Cenobites first appear, has the protagonist Kirsty in a hospital room, with a TV. The TV flickers on and off, and a red chrysanthemum briefly appears on the screen, right as the Cenobites appear. It looks almost identical to the teaser clip.

  • @agonizing said:

Like how does it calculate the teams MMR?

A scenario in which all survivors have a score of 10,000 but one of them has an MMR of 8,000 what will the theoretical MMR of the killer player be?

I don't think anyone actually answered you, so...

SWF MMR will be averaged. So lets say you have two at 10,000 and two at 6,000, the average MMR of that SWF is 8,000, so the killer should theoretically be around 8,000. (completely made up numbers of course)

  • How about a post-sacrifice minigame?

After being sacrificed, you can respawn as an 'echo'.

As an Echo, you cannot see the Killer or Survivors, and you cannot see any auras, or the Hatch.

You have to find and interact with Red, Blue and Yellow glyphs. Maybe a fourth one if they add a fourth one in?

After x amount of Red/Blue/Yellow glyphs, you gain the ability to see:

    1: Survivor Auras

    2: Gen Auras

    3: Hook Auras

    4: Item Auras

    5: Exit Auras

    6: Killer Aura

    7: Hatch Aura

Only one glyph spawns at a time so it could take you a while to get to 7, especially if you fail the yellow ones. And the Blue ones always give you Oblivious, so you temporarily lose your aura reading capabilities when you get those.

Each glyph gets you bloodpoint bonuses, which only apply post game, so it doesn't reflect your score.

    Red: Objective

    Blue: Boldness

    Yellow: Altruism

    Fourth?: Survival

Lets say each one is +25%, so if you get 2 of each that's +50% in each of those categories.
