I've looped spirits in the past which I've done quite well imo. I don't watch him but from what I've heard its just a 1v1 right? But this is a 4 man team game. 1v1 doesn't prove anything unless you play a 4 man. I think a challenge like that is useless and proves nothing you'll eventually be downed but if you can last at least a minute or 2 in a chase you already did some gens. Parroting "spirit doesn't have counterplay" shows how naive people can be.
What do your 3 teammates have to do with you making decisions to counter a Spirit while she's chasing you? Its not about winning, losing, or even how long you last, its about whether or not your skill as a survivor matters whatsoever.

This isn't too far off the mark. I think it goes even deeper than that. I pick Perks (and I assume many others do too) based on a consistent return. Sloppy Butcher is one of the best Perks in the game because you always get a return on it. Does that make sense? I ran Lucky Break for a over a week in every match, and found it to be a useful Perk, but one that was a gamble. For me, personally, I didn't always get a return on it. To be honest, I'm pretty good at avoiding the Killer in the first place. When I do get in a chase and hit, I'm either going to loop till the guy gives up, wasting as much of his time as I can, or I'm going down. Lucky Break felt very map and Killer dependent. And like many other people mention, I really only got one good use out of it. So, solid Perk but not good for my personal playstyle.
MadLordJack is a really good Survivor, and clearly gets a LOT more consistent return on it than I do. I suspect that Lucky Break is like a Stradivarius Violin, i.e. in the hands of a master it is amazing. In the hands of a merely competent or good musician, they might as well just be playing a fiddle. So I don't doubt for a second that MadLordJack gets obscenely powerful play out of it, but I would suggest that normal Survivors (and I'm not nearly as good a Survivor as I am a Killer) won't. Does this make sense? All things said and done, I do encourage people to do what I did; use the Perk extensively for a week or so and see if it functions well for you. It isn't a bad Perk by any means, but I suspect mileage is going to vary a LOT.
Lucky Break is the complete opposite of that. Get hit, run behind LoS, even the best killers in the world can lose you. It allows even inexperienced survivors to not only delay chases, but win them entirely, which is nearly impossible to do vs a good killer. Without any weak links, you lose.

This is probably the happiest I've ever been that a community does not understand how strong something is ever.

Nah, gen speed is bullshit. Making survivors spawn together means they all go into the first gen and in 26 seconds they did 20% of the game, if they have a key that's 33% of the game. One entire objective completed before a single minute with nothing the killer could do.
And even then, you still have the rest of the game. Unless you have ruin there is no actual slow down perk so if 4 survivors go into different gens, in 80 seconds they finish 4 generators.
I hate that the game has to be balanced around potato survivors, it assumes survivors are so dumb they can't organize, a killer shouldn't depend on survivors being dumb or lazy. The math outright shows in 80 seconds 4 gens can pop, that is not ok. 80% of the game finished in 1 minute and 20 seconds. The killer has to down and move at the speed of light to stop 4 different gens from popping, and even then that does nothing because scaring someone off a gen or kicking it or hooking whoever was working on it doesn't make it go back to 0%.
Even assuming they spawn directly on a generator, and assuming its even a 4-man generator which most are not, and even assuming the killer just doesn't find these people in 30 seconds, even considering ALL of that, that is still WAY better than four survivors working on four separate generators. I will take a gen popping in 30 seconds while finding the entire team over that any day of the week.
Your numbers are also grossly over exaggerated. There is no scenario ever in which 4 gens are popping in 80 seconds unless the killer is literally AFK.

Lucky Break Iron Will will be meta, 100%, especially considering how much it destroys Spirit.

They definitely overbuffed the hell out of Lucky Break

Yeah people that keep defending MMR are really not understanding Behavior whatsoever. Everyone always says "at the highest level they'll finally see that the game is survivor sided and then fix things when they have the data!"
No they won't. That would indicate they have a desire to balance for the top 1%, which they don't, and never have. They will see that "oh yes, at the highest MMR Clown is in fact getting destroyed. Oh well, we knew that already" and they will do nothing.
They have no desire to balance for the top 1% and I don't know why people think they're suddenly going to change their entire philosophy on the game.
Side point: They already know the game is survivor sided at the highest level. They've known this for years. They just don't care because its not indicative of the general experiences that the vast majority will have.

This is how I feel. I like Scott a lot, but he's one of a few dbd content creators that seem to despise the game on a profound level (Farmer John also comes to mind), while justifying it through faults with the game.
I truly don't hate DBD. I would not play it if I did. I stopped playing Dark Souls when I got bored of it, I stopped playing H1Z1 when I got bored of it, I stopped playing For Honor when I got bored of it, and I'll stop playing DBD when I get bored of it. I just tend to sound miserable while playing DBD because I literally just physically feel miserable all the time.

If its any consolation I agree that's the weakest part of my Clown suggestions.

I can confirm I am absolutely terrible with Hag and Deathslinger.
-
Its simple confirmation bias. You remember losing more than you remember winning
-
As ALostPuppy said, you can absolutely make something that checks every frame to make sure the last frame is not more than 90 degrees away from the previous frame. If it is, it snaps the camera to the max of 90 degrees. This would obviously only be during attacks with limited attack angles.
-
Its an unintended mechanic, as confirmed by McLean. Taking advantage of an unintended mechanic for an advantage is literally the definition of an exploit. That being said, its probably not a big enough of a deal for them to fix it and I don't care if people do it but man I wish people would shut up about it.

Nobody knows, which is why the MMR system doesn't breed a lot of trust

I mean, I think its understandable wanting to keep the system under wraps for this first test. They want as clean results as possible so they can see what they need to fix.
If this test turns out well, maybe they'll give some more information later down the line. At least they're working on it. This will only last 24 hours anyways.
My point is if the system is based around inaccurate things the data they gather will be meaningless.

As we've previously communicated we're not giving information out as to what the factors are that increases or decreased your MMR score - various factors in a match does affect it.
We want people to play as normally as possible.
I understand not wanting to be specific as people would abuse the system but you guys should know the trust level is extremely low and the tiniest smidgen of transparency would remove so much ire. We know the very first idea was based solely on kills, then whatever the first actual attempt was did not even slightly work, so its very difficult to blindly trust that not only will the system be functional, but it will actually account for who is better.
The tiniest crumb of detail that would inspire so much confidence would be a simple question like "do add-ons affect the outcome?"

We are not saying how it works no.

-
why do people keep saying there's a debate? there's no debate, everyone knows its strong and everyone knows its fine for survivors to do it.

I criticise dev decisions where I feel it’s warranted. But I also have the humility to understand I am one person, I am not a game developer, and it’s simply embarrassing and foolish to think that game developers don’t know how to make their own game.
Could you imagine if that was our attitude towards car manufacturers? People that don’t have any idea about mechanical engineering claiming “they don’t know how to make cars. We’ve been driving for years! Why won’t they listen to us?!”
You are making an extremely weak comparison there, by equating the technical aspects of game creation with balance designs, of which those without any technological prowess can still give valid input on.

Oh, I do every day. But it’s not my job, is it? I play this game in my free time.
So you badmouth at the end of the match, which means you have no problem with people doing it. So, you don't hate streamers because of that, despite bringing it up as a talking point for some reason. You hate them because they make money off of playing games, despite the fact that probably 99.9% of them do not earn a livable income.
So I ask again, did a streamer kill your family or something? Why do you hate them so much?

No, but I’ve dumpstered many of the famous DBD streamers; who proceeded to talk mad smack in the VOD. Keep in mind I’ve played the game regularly for over 4 years as killer, I’ve killed a lot of streamers. So it’s not like I’m holding them on a pedestal or anything.
I’m just saying all the people who hold them to a high standard haven’t butchered them in a game and then watched them cry about it and talk smack. There’s plenty of big DBD streamers I refuse to watch even for a second because I don’t want to give them a penny. And it’s good. I BM them anytime I see them. I got a huge on just a few days ago and his chat had a good laugh at his reaction to me smacking him on hook until he died.
Have you never talked ######### to someone else online?

I'm not sure how you can possibly compare the Trickster to old Legion. Old Legion would down you regardless of windows, pallets, or any other tool survivors had to delay the killer.
A small elevated wall counters the Trickster.

It is way hard enough to get the gens done as it is. A survivor hiding in fear of the killer coming back is setting it up to be even easier for the killer.
I didn't say hide from the killer I said be wary for 10 damn seconds. If the killer is coming back, run the other direction instead of smashing your face on a generator immediately. I promise there are gens further away as well.

@Sluzzy said:

If you do anything you lose it and the killer can easily return to the vicinity, see the same person, and chase them down. That's still the definition of tunneling. I get the killer is supposed to be a killer, I really do, but if you have a decisive strike, where you are supposed to literally have something in your hand to stab the killer to break free, it is unimaginable to lose it for simply doing an action and be penalized for it.
No, that is just not at all tunneling. At that point, its literally just the killer trying to stop you from making him lose. If you are sitting on a generator you are not being tunneled, even if you were the last one hooked. There's no room for discussion there.
Additionally, maybe consider I don't know, waiting 10 seconds to see if the killer is coming back or not. You'll be fine not doing a gen for 10 seconds.

My point was, if it was something you enjoyed in the game and it was ruined, then you would have a different attitude and probably not play either. Huntress has never been nerfed at all so I used her as an example, and she seems to have way more unfair advantages with hitboxes and server issues than 1-time DS that killer can almost completely playaround to begin with. The fact devs would even make heavily nerfing DS a priority, a perk that most use as a comfort zone against tunnelers, over even fixing unfair hitboxes is bad in itself.
I really wouldn't call this a "heavy nerf." If you really want to maintain you 60 seconds of invulnerability you can still do it, and if you choose to lose it, you obviously aren't being tunneled anymore.
-
@Sluzzy said:
ScottJund seems like a nice person but I question his sincerity here as this seems to be made for popularity and Youtube hits. This video would not be created if Huntress, for which he mostly plays, was heavily nerfed nor would it be made if BBQ, a perk he never plays without sudden undergoes a substantial nerf where the killer can't see Auras unless killer does x, y, or z that is largely detrimental to doing his objectives. I've watched him some in the past complain about DS and I know he is happy, as a killer main that he can control the perk and his opponent is unable to do their objective. Like it or not, survivors have no powers of their own, perks are the only power available and is all unique to each character. Nerfing a power so that you can't work on objectives or you lose a perk is wrong and that's all I'm going to say about it. Especially for a perk such as decisive strike as it implies a "1-time" second chance. Killers never lose their power when doing their objective. Looking at DS alone, no perk on the killer side has been nerfed like this perk.
Looking broadly, survivors all across the board have been nerfed every year while killer has mostly been buffed. If the killrates were small and if I didn't see a bloodbath in a majority of matches I was in, then although I am attached to significance of decisive strike granting an anytime break from the killer's grasp to fit Laurie's character in the movies, I would somewhat understand why this perk was substantially ruined. But I do not see this perk winning games, ever, especially not like killer perks. I think it was unfair nerf and there is no reason to spin it any other way with glamorous healing as a community. It's like taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich.
The fact you think I still play Huntress means you haven't watched me in literally over a year. Come on dude its really not fair to assume things about me when you don't even watch me.

Taking out infinites that should never have been in the game isn’t a nerf, it’s a fix. And by “everyone be reasonable” I mean the mentality that the truth is always in the middle/ false equivocating. Sometimes the reality is that things fall one way. “Game shouldn’t be balanced around the 1%” translates to we should balance for players who don’t know how to play.
Holy ######### I have never seen so many twisting of words to suit a terrible argument in my life.

Like this lukewarm, middle of the road “everyone be reasonable” video, or the idea that the game should be balanced around scrubs. The fact of the matter is that regardless of numbers, killer nerfs have been far more substantial than anything that has happened to survivors up to now.
So its a ######### take that everyone should be reasonable? Suddenly find myself not caring whether or not you like my stuff. Also, I have never said the game should be balanced around "scrubs", ever, so that's another argument that makes no sense.
You are also completely out of your mind if you think killers have received "far more substantial nerfs" compared to survivors over the game's life. Like have you not even seen the game for the first year or two?
