Perhaps.
He didn't do anything until SBMM go lives, then made bunch of videos about complaining the environment (look at the medkit video).
Apparently he can't analyze this game objectively.
He just feel, then talk.
I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to? I have been saying medkits are the strongest things survivors can bring for well over a year. In fact, here's proof:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYwh8YUVlDAMMR hasn't changed any of that. I don't really know what you're talking about. I've also made videos about map design being a problem, survivor spawns being a problem, DS Unbreakable, like what do you want man. You can't just ignore all of the killer sided stuff I make and then say I'm survivor sided.

Nurse is a platform for killer to be the power role. For now, I think we should be raising other killers to her level, instead of ruining one of the last strong killers in the game, even though I don't like the nature of her power.
No we should not be raising the roster to a character that essentially ignores the entire game.

This game is polarizing. Either you know how to loop/hold forward, or you don’t. What makes an average player? Someone who hides? Someone who does gens but can’t loop? If you know how to loop/tiles, you will guaranteed waste a ton of most killers’ time.
Come on don't be disingenuous. You know damn well there is more to the survivor gameplay than holding forward. I can absolutely immediately identify a decent survivor, a bad survivor, a good survivor, or an extremely good survivor. The fact I can tell the difference indicates there is a difference between them to begin with.

Then why are we talking about character strength at all? Yea, if no one knows how to play the game, pyramid head will dominate. But the same can be said of every killer, which makes character strength discussions pointless. This is the only community that thinks it’s valid to discuss the game at a level in which people are bad at the game.
There a lot of middleground, i.e the vast majority of the playerbase, that is in between "not knowing how to play the game" and "literal tournament play."

I’ve mained spirit since her PTB and Spirit mains are all in agreement this is a massive nerf that completely has killed her. She has no anti loop potential now as survivors can pin point her exact location, she has a mediocre transition counter that won’t work most of the time, a lot of her good add ons were nerfed for seemingly no reason, and on top of all this they did nothing to actually somewhat compensate this nerf. They threw her in a coffin, put all the nails in, buried it 10 feet underground, then threw that chunk of land into a volcano.
can you point me to this secret council of Spirit Mains youve contacted

as opposed to the..killer sided killer nerfs?

The quickscope free zoning fix is a step in the right direction but he needs some type of advantage now. He didn't need just a straight nerf. The double nerf of his TR is pretty rough too.

I do not think they could do it easily at all.
I'd be interested to see what some of the streamers on here think.
@ScottJund @Michi @CoconutRTS (these are the only three people I know of here that fall into said category) - Any way to get a weigh-in/opinion, please?
Could be an interesting topic of discussion/pov.
I agree never losing a game in a year, even with the sweatiest playstyle and most broken build possible, is extremely difficult. I don't even know if "difficult" is the right word. All it takes is the multiple layers of RNG to deliver you to A.) a bad map b.) a bad variant of the bad map, and C.) the rare extremely good 4 man team. With all of that combined, if I'm anyone but Nurse Blight or Spirit I don't see myself winning.
All of these streaks are really less about skill (obviously skill is relevant) and more about how lucky you get with avoiding the perform storm of near unavoidable loss.
-
Otherwise we're putting up with the current terrible matchmaking forever, and the game is virtually unplayable for mid-level killers as it is.
"Virtually unplayable" oh please. Aren't kill rates like 50% or higher for every killer in the game?
-
it literally became so brainless on Blight for me I got bored of it and stopped, but i'm not gonna police other people using it. i will make fun of you though.
-
Because it is nearly impossible for an automated system to detect player skill in this game.

Let me ask you this. If DbD's balance was flipped such that killers won overwhelmingly a large amount of time at the high level, but in "average" play, killers lost most of the time, would you still think that the game should only be balanced around those "average" level of players?
Yes, but if I had to answer the question of "If balance can't be perfect and had to lean a certain way" I would always prefer it slightly favor survivors as the game simply needs 4x as many Survivor players in order to not have horribly queue times that would kill the game.

But that's the point. Every single game has some level of asymmetry. It just has varying degrees of it.
As someone who grew up playing CS, i can tell you that there is MASSIVE difference between the 2 sides. Attack vs defense in a game of slow paced, holding angles calculated play makes both sides play VASTLY differently within the context of that game.
Fighting games have asymmetry between different characters, even in mirror matches, you play on different sides. Character classes, abilities, skills, talents, levels, gear, different weapon choices all contribute to asymmetry.
Even CHESS has some level of asymmetry.
Eternal Return, is releasing a character soon that literally wins the game (a battle royal) by doing something entirely different than every other character in the game. And i don't mean like, different abilities, i mean that they literally have a different win condition.
Just because there is asymmetry does not mean you can't have balance.
In literally none of these examples are the the 1v4 nature of DBD, which is why the comparisons make no sense. In CS, if one of your teammates gets AWP'd through the dust2 doors within the first 5 seconds of the match, your side can still easily win the round. In DBD, if one of your teammates dies with 5 gens up, you cannot win in any possible way. You keep ignoring the 1v4 aspect that separates DBD from every single thing you are talking about.

This brings me to my ultimate point though, you are very outspoken about how spirit needs nerfs or changes. Yet some content creators post videos about how you can counter spirit and yours, and the communities, argument is "those spirits are bad"
You can't fundamentally say: "the game should not be balanced around high level players" and also "nurse and spirit need nerfs" In fact, using your logic, the devs need to BUFF nurse because, by the stats, in the hands of the "average" player that you so desperately want to balance the game around, nurse is the worst kill in the game.
You also in one video, say "spirit's counterplay is boring, you just drop pallets and hope it works" and yet that is exactly what high level survivors do, hold w, and drop pallets. Why is it ok for survivors to be boring, but not a killer?
Right but I've never said Nurse (other than Omegablink which was ridiculous) or Spirit need to be nerfed so I'm not sure what your point is.
You also create a false argument of "why its okay for survivors to be boring but not a killer." Its not. Its not okay survivors can just spam drop 20 safe pallets on the game either.

I wonder if you will still cling to your belief that the game should not be balanced around high level play when MMR happens and every single game you play will require you to play nurse. Because you will be one of those players. You are good at this game and you play it so much you are going to be high MMR. Maybe you can avoid it by playing "memey" on some killers but eventually it will catch up to you.
I know from your videos that you don't like the idea of MMR, but the devs are obviously pushing it. So it is going to happen.
Every game won't require me to play Nurse because I have no Nurse MMR. Either way yeah I am not looking forward to it. Certainly going to be punished for playing Demo and Blight who are just my favorite killers.

Well if you’re actually ScottJund then I’m not surprised that you are wrong, you seem to be a lot.
You seem to not really have any knowledge on the subject despite being arrogant about it, so I'll explain why Evolve died:
1.) You couldn't always play the role you wanted to play. This created a huge issue immediately. Its like if you wanted to play killer but the game said no, you're playing Survivor now.
2.) Microtransactions that make Behavior look like saints.
3.) Ironically, they massively pushed e-sports for the game despite the fact it does not at all work in these types of games.
4.) The monster basically had no way to do anything until they hit Stage 3, which created an incredibly bland early game where the much stronger hunters would just beat the hell out of the monster until they got Stage 3 .
5.) Much like DBD, very high level coordinated teams would usually defeat the monster. This I agree with. And yet, Evolve died in less than a year and DBD is still going strong after 5 years, so obviously that's not a mitigating factor whatsoever.

Just a few examples that would make the game better for everyone:
- adjusting killer hit boxes to be the same size as survivor hit boxes. Which would reduce the running in circles meta.
- removal of bloodlust (bandaid that was only required because killers have a bigger hitbox)
- introduction of additional objectives like refilling some gens with gasoline (including new items: gas can) and repairing some gens with parts. For balance reasons, this should be best applied to the strategic gens. Preventing at the same time that killers lose 2 or 3 gens in the first chase while also avoiding that survivors 3 gen themselves accidentaly
- removal of the 8k point limit per category. People shouldn´t be punished points wise, when the specialize on chases, gens or healing.
- introduction of bonus bloodpoint items for survivors. Which give more points in exchange of gimping certain things. Like applying the Oblivious status effect while the item is equipped. But giving 100% bonus points for every action while holding the item. Just like the addons that basically remove the killers ability. On top of that, all bonus point items/perks/addons should apply those points after the match. No Mither should also receive bonus bloodpoints.
Those are just a few things, that come right into my mind and would help both sides.
1.) This will not reduce the running in circles meta, whatsoever. It is still by far the most optimal form of movement even if killers can round corners slightly better.
2.) Bloodlust is unfortunately still needed for several insanely broken setups like the House of Pain on Haddonfield, etc. Once every map is fixed, then I'd agree.
3.) Introducing additional objectives would 100% make the game harder to win for non SWF players. I don't know how you could possibly argue otherwise. Its even more stuff to communicate and organize.
4.) Removing a blood point cap does nothing to actually affect the balance of the game.
5.) Again, bloodpoints have nothing to do with the balance of the game.
-
@Tsulan said:
Should the game be balanced around the highest skill rate? Of course it should.
Or could you imagine a R6, LoL or CS getting balanced around bronze or silver ranks?
so what are some changes they could make that wouldnt ruin the game for the rest of the playerbase then?

@Andokuky said:
Does anyone remember Evolve? That game wasn’t balanced around high level play, a good hunter squad could curb stomp a monster, but it was balanced around above average play and because of it, the game died super quick because casual/bad players had a terrible time.

But he doesn't stomp everyone he plays. His competitive team only does KYF games. They don't even interact with the general population.

I'm not underestimating the asymmetrical aspect. I'm taking it into consideration and stating that even that is not enough to match dota's complexity. There is a reason why you can win millions of dollars playing dota and not the other way around. And dota 2 works just fine. So just saying that it is impossible, unachievable or tedious because of the complexity that the asymmetrical aspect provides is vague and unfounded since there are more complex games out there already doing it
Right and if DBD was owned by Valve I'd agree.
-
@KIKI_ said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2286138#Comment_2286138
You are assuming balancing around that single match would punish the other 999 games. That's a pretty big assumption to make. Watch other competitive games. Take Dota 2 for example. Dota's complexity is beyond what dbd could ever aspire and yet it is a balanced game. Take a guess. Yes, they balanced around top percent. Casual and average people still enjoy and still play the game.
Stop trying to predict the future. "It wont work" you say. You don't know that. It works in other games far way more complex than dbd. Why would not work in dbd?
And every single one of those games is not asymmetrical. People REALLY underestimate how much that changes things.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2286151#Comment_2286151
Right, but what if you couldn't end the game in 3 minutes. Then you do things for survivors that fix things at low level play, fix camping, fix tunneling. Like, what if survivors couldn't actually die until everyone has been hooked 2 times. Suddenly the game gets a lot better for those low level survivors.
You are proposing such drastic changes to the fundamental mechanics of DBD that its almost pointless to entertain them, unfortunately.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2286138#Comment_2286138
I talked about this in the comments of your video. But you can make changes that don't negatively affect the low level of players. Nerfing god loops makes it so good survivors can't abuse them. The survivors who go down in 20 seconds still go down in 20 seconds regardless of whether or not the god loop is a god loop.
Right but you aren't addressing the fact that at the highest level people don't even loop. There is no "god loop" at high level because people just throw down pallets as soon as they get to them because there is no downside to doing so when your team can end the game in 3 minutes.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2284121#Comment_2284121
Just because it is rare doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed.
Imagine if a killer offering existed, that only had a 0.1% chance to appear in the bloodweb. This means it would appear in about 1 out of every 1000 games. Now, let's say this offering:
- Makes the killer get max 32k bloodpoints
- Killer moves at 200% movement speed
- Survivors are permanently exposed
- Survivors auras are permanently revealed to the killer.
Would that offering be balanced? It only appears in 1 out of every 1000 games. So the offering is fine, right?
You're making a false dichotomy. It would be more accurate to have an offering like that and then punish the other 999 games that don't have the offering in order to make that one match fair. That's the issue. We know its broken.
-
Yeah I'm not sure what anyone expected. Even if he played perfectly the game just fundamentally does not work at that level. I still don't understand why people want matches balanced for these types of matches. I don't think they realize that means literally reworking the game from the ground up which will never happen.
-
As someone who used the nerfed addons religiously, I physically cannot even tell the difference. Its fine.

Hey @ScottJund on the off chance that you read this, I apologize if this comes off as desperate or rude.
I'm sure that you've probably seen this thread by now, and if you haven't, the first page should tell you what can be found on the next 30+ pages.
At this point in time, I've tried my best to fight to get Console's and low-spec PC's the optimization they were promised, but I find myself unable to carry the topic any further. I simply do not have the influence nor the capability to expand it any more. This is why I've tagged you.
I was wondering if you'd be willing to speak about this topic. You've created some of the best video essays in the community and while I haven't always agreed with you, I have always found your arguments to be well thought out and well put together.
This issue doesn't only affect Console players, but also our friends over on PC as well. Not everyone has the money to spend on a 800 USD gaming system, and we shouldn't need to spend that much money in order to play a 5 year old game.
BHVR's continued silence on this is unacceptable, especially after they promised improvements in March 2019.
Despite this thread, no word has been given about Optimization. I fear that, like colorblind settings, the only way to get results is to continue to expand the audience, which is where you could help.
I understand if you are unable or unwilling to do so, but it would mean a lot to me and to many other people on this thread (and to people on the affected systems) if you would help us.
Hey I agree its a big issue but I'm not really sure what you want me to do about it. I could make a video that gets 8 trillion views and it still won't affect what Behavior actually does.

Whenever their favourite content creator says something, then immediately they take that as the only thing that is correct.
They can't think for their own anymore and need others to tell them what to think.
Trying to finding things out themselves or form their own opinion is to much effort these days.
bro i do not understand this argument. you either think spirit has counterplay or you don't. how can you say i claim the entire fact she has no counterplay as MY idea. you can only believe 1 or 2. its not crazy that some people will in fact align their ideas. not everyone is a sheep, sheesh

I dont know how good of a looper you are though here's the thing I dont know if you'll end up throwing the match. But honestly at this point its just getting tiring responding. Take care buddy. Go watch tournaments and maybe that will change your mind. Think for yourself.
You keep referencing tournaments but even tournament players admit she has no counterplay in normal matches. The only hope they have is to spam drop every pallet immediately and hope their tournament squad finishes the gens before that matters.

If you win the chase against any killer you already won lol. What do you honestly wanna prove? The spirit is too op that she's 100% kill rate? If you honestly struggle with spirit it just sounds like you're not a great looper as you thought. You can put 10k hours as survivor and you might still struggle thats fine not everyone can become an ultra looping survivor. But hey "no counterplay" right? Exactly what you wanna hear lol. But to me a 1v1 will prove nothing. You'll eventually get caught its how much time that killer wasted getting you that matters.
At this point I feel like you are just intentionally not reading a single thing I said. Whatever, keep making excuses, have a good one.

But your challenge proves nothing except "this killer wins in a 1v1 chase" who knew right? If you dont know the counterplays to her or bother learning and just spam shes OP then idk what to tell you bro. Its not really a guessing game if you're a good looper. I can name all the counterplays to her but you'll just plug your ears and scream thats not counterplay which is fine but I know what works and what doesn't.
Oh my God how are you not getting this. It is NOT about winning the chase. It is about whether or not your experience as a survivors matters when you are getting chased. What is so complicated about this.
-
To play devil's advocate, most Spirit players are bad just like most survivors are bad, so technically these techniques do actually work a lot of the time.
-
@Unifall said:

Because this is a team game. A 1v1 won't prove that hey this killer has no counterplay right? Its like taking any other killer like Trapper and trapping all the openings and window in the killer shack by that logic theres no counter play to that right? My teammates are pressuring the killer by doing gens, flashlight saves, pallet stuns, sabotage hooks or taking a hit. I have to disagree with "its not how long you'll last" part because thats false. You should know that time in this game is important. Thats why a whole challenge on a 1v1 wouldn't prove much or anything. Maybe a 4 man vs spirit could be more interesting but thats my opinion.
Literally nothing you listed has anything to do with you countering the Spirit in a chase. This is not complicated. If at a loop, your only option is to guess, there is a problem. That's all the test is trying to prove.
