lol BHVR doesn't hate gen regression, 5 will get you 10 the new killer will bring yet another one. Also, last time I checked, CoB isn't dead.

I'm pretty sure knight ptb was Tuesday
Knight PTB was indeed a Tuesday release. The most recent PTB was on Wednesday though, and patches have been going out on that day fairly consistently since the year began.
-
PTBs have been starting on Wednesday instead of Tuesday recently, so expect them then from on.
-
A lot of wonderful information here, kudos OP.

When Killer perks are "nerfed", they are gutted and borderline useless (Pop, Corrupt, Hex Ruin, Thanta, NOED, Even Franklins) .
When Survivor perks are "nerfed" they are reworked, usually better (example: DH, Off the Record, WoO, AmN, Lightweight, WGLF)
I genuinely struggle to think of any perk that got gutted for survivors besides DS, which was being massively abused.
90% of them are just adjusted to not be stupid broken, like Soul Guard.
Saboteur. Boil Over. MoM.
Your memory isn't very accurate. Also that list of perks you came up with is random af, besides DH all of those reworked perks became better because they were being buffed.

Of the last four licensed chapters, every full chapter collaboration (i.e. RE, Ringu, and RE v2) was announced months in advance. The Pinhead mini-chapter was the only exception, and even by the time teaser season rolled around everyone knew that one was licensed. This is definitely original.

Yea, another Trickster and Feng skins, wooohoooo! (I am Feng main tho, but still... xD)
Hey, I'm not telling you to hold your breath expecting anything, but... don't give up hope either?
-
This thread is pretty premature. We don't know (most of) the upcoming skins for next chapter yet. Haddie was just one character they confirmed was getting something in the future, not the only character.
-
Excited as always! I love the chapter reveal season. I already like the new theme quite a bit, or the beginning of it at least.
-
Saying Eruption is just a 'another perk that rewards the killer for not camping' is completely missing the point considering the problem with the perk was how and why it punished survivors, not its use by the killer. Overtuned BS is overtuned BS. Eruption was never going to keep the Incapacitated effect after its deserved nerf, which should have never been added to such a highly-usable perk in the first place.
-
If Haddie actually looked like the concept art for 6.60 in-game she would have so many more players. But I'm glad she's finally gettting more content soon.
-
Good stuff all around. I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I'm really glad to hear that they're expanding the cosmetics team. With the amount of characters in the game now, it's a much-welcome change imo.

At first I was gonna be "people bashing the devs unreasonably like always" but then I thought about it and the last 3 maps have been Shattered Square, Garden of Joy and Eyrie of Crows.
Yeah....the people have a point with this one if we got no maps for a while that might be a good thing. Devs legit haven't made a good map since Midwich and even that map isn't exactly the pinnacle of balance. Really you have to go all the way back to Oni and Sanctum of Wrath to find a map that doesn't favor either side.
I wanna see how they redo Red forest and then if that remake is good maybe they can be trusted to make more maps.
Devil's' Advocate: The reason the new maps are so mediocre might be because they've spent so much time redesigning maps instead of making new ones, they don't know how to properly make one from the ground up anymore. In which case, they need to keep at it because if they take another long break they're just going to keep forgetting their mistakes and make even worse maps in the long run. It does seem like they're learning as they go; they aren't repeating the same mistakes, the new maps are all awful in completely new ways each time.

@Xendritch said:
I feel like BHVR is so used to having their chapters leaked they forgot how to do teasers.
It's genuinely starting to feel that way.
But actually, there's a good chance we'll see something tomorrow if the PTB is next Wednesday. Else I'll be sad if they've really stopped doing their teaser campaigns. It's that, or they're actually taking their time for once to make sure the new chapter launches in a thoroughly tested and well-thought-out state of balance.
So, yeah, we'll definitely see a teaser tomorrow!
-
And the role is called "survivor" not "punching-bag-victims", killers aren't supposed to 4K every game either.
-
This thread probably belongs in the other forum... but yes, there's been a few questionable advertising decisions so far. I was mildly interested in checking it out, so when I saw news about the beta on the DBD Steam page I clicked on the announcement, expecting to find a link to the game. There wasn't one. No, apparently we have go to search for it ourselves. I still haven't gotten around to downloading it... Lazy of me, I know, but I feel like that's a really strange thing to not include in an annoucement.
-
It's got to be original at this point. The last couple of licensed chapters were announced months in advance.
-
Glenvale's going to get boosted odds for the third time in a row. Daring today, aren't we...
Also, even though Soul Guard has never been in the Shrine going on 2.5 years, it still hasn't ever even been an option for this event. It's getting hard to think that that's anything but some intentional choice by BHVR to keep it out of rotation for some reason.
-
Eh, the true strength of SWF is having people who (generally) care about what happens to other people on their team, which will never be reliably duplicated in solo queue no matter how many buffs happen.
-
Obviously splitting queues might be a concern but I don't think the idea can't work. It would be nice to be able to focus on event content in matches geared towards said content from the start, instead of this awkward thing we have now where you have some players who are throwing the match to complete the event, some players who are already finished the event, some players who don't care at all and want to ignore it completely..
-
@VideoGameMage said:
What's funny is how they had a functioning mmr system in the beginning, but made it useless because people complained about long queues and sweaty matches.
Like they might as well go back to old ranks. But they spent at least two years on an mmr system so they won't do it. Bhvr works under sunk cost fallacy. If they spend too much dev time on it, they aren't going to give it up. It's why they're still working on finisher Mori because they announced a Mori rework years ago, and they're not letting the dev time go to waste.
The rank system was terrible and made it incredibly easy to smurf (but then let's face it, that's the real reason everyone misses it).
MMR does its job of helping make sure genuinely new players don't go against highly experienced ones while their still learning the game. That's it. After that point, this game isn't deep enough for you to expect any matchmaking to give you people exactly at whatever you'd perceive to be a matching skill level. Besides, for all you know, those crack survivor teams you're complaining about are regularly getting stomped when they face high-tier killers.
-
No, losing matches because teams had no viable way of communicating vital information was not fun or immersive.

If it hasn't been fixed after all this time, it is probably intentional. As i mentioned, the point is to give the killer more pressure/regression if they come up on survivors on a gen and they wait too long to let go. Granted it is RNG based. I'd argue it should be normalized and not RNG in that case.
It has been fixed before, actually, it's just one of those bugs that goes away and somehow finds it way back again and again. But outside of the sheer silliness of seeing bad perks get nerfed I can't say this is a change I'm too upset about. Anything that discourages people from running this Autodidact-for-gens is a good thing in my book. :/

In the average game where survivors play bad? No they’re fine.
Objectively though? Yes they are way too strong.
Most games survivors play bad so it’s fine but when it’s actually good vs good players the game is extremely unbalanced in survivors favor. We don’t judge objective “balance” based on average games, we base it on good vs good. This is why matches at the higher end are complete messes in terms of balance since they’re not what the game is balanced around.
You have a very funny way of using the word 'objectively'.

Or just run unbreakable, personally in the last month I think I've been slugged for the sake of being bled out twice. Once by killers choice, 2nd by my own hiding in a deadzone to deny them emblem points.
If it is happening so often in your games that it is an issue, then you should bring a perk to help with that situation if one exists, which in this case it does.
Unbreakable is once per game, effectively useless if the killer is committed to slugging. Quit trying to defend terrible game mechanics with situational band-aids.
-
Nope!
-
Sorry, but according to some people on these forums this never happens and if it did you must have done something to deserve it /s
No, but seriously, I'm with you. I don't care what other balance changes or survivor nerfs come with it, something like basekit UB needs to be done to address the complete fun-sucking experience of getting slugged for minutes at a time.
-
Yeah, you're right on the money in that the update did nothing to address the actual problems with the perk. But in the end, just hearing that a perk was 'nerfed' is enough for players to stop using it. Although it's still as annoying as ever when it goes off, I see NOED so much less now that it's not very high on the list of perks I'd want to see changed at the moment.

No, it's you.
Ah yes, the treasured classic, "Killers never do anything wrong, and if they do it's because some survivor made them do it."
Yup, that's a...honestly, we might be past strawman now.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JZTK17ZD9XBD/image.png
Yeah, that's more like it.
Two people saying the same thing only means that the number of people wrong has increased by 1. You...do realize that it's possible for two people to be wrong, right?
Or quite possibly one person and their alts.
I'm saying:
- As a weakish survivor, I almost never see it.
- Watching a variety of different survivor streamers, I almost never see it.
So that's intermediate MMR and expert MMR, all not really that common.
Now, yes, I do see it on a very rare occasion. But not to the level where it justifies massive, sweeping changes to the game that would allow survivors to take a match hostage almost forever, on demand.
You don't think that, at the very least, unhookable spots or un-pick-up-able spots don't need to be fixed before giving everyone infinite UB?
the fact that you even have to rely on that kind of thing to establish an opinion the matter shows you have no idea what you're talking about.
The fact that I...use examples to back up my opinion is...proof that I'm wrong what?
Firstly, Kafkatrap.
Secondly, again - what?
That's... not a strawman. In the future, consider using Google before you start trying out words you don't know. Ironically, you're own completely non-sequitur argument about "survivors running into spots where you can't pick them up" is a fine example of a strawman.
-
@StarLost said:

Survivor runs to one of the many spots that still exist where you can't pick them up. So now I have to bleed them out.
What do you want me to do? Just...let them go?
Nice attempt at a strawman though.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3326277#Comment_3326277
Is it?
I've seen one game in my last 200 odd survivor games with a knockout bleeder, and 0 watching Ayrun, Spooky and Wholesome playing survivor.
The only times I see a killer doing this is because a survivor was really BM or exploiting.
Did you quote the wrong person or do you not know what a strawman is?
Regardless, you have a second person saying the same thing and you're still dismissing it as if you have any actual understanding on the matter. You don't seem to realize that the majority of streamer games are nothing like your average solo que experience and the fact that you even have to rely on that kind of thing to establish an opinion the matter shows you have no idea what you're talking about.
-
@StarLost said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3326176#Comment_3326176
Have you?
Because, again, I watch a lot of streams and play a fair amount of survivor - and aside from tactical slugging (something totally different) I almost never see this unless the survivor is deliberately doing something obnoxious in the first place.
Ah yes, the treasured classic, "Killers never do anything wrong, and if they do it's because some survivor made them do it." Playing a handful of survivor matches and watching streamers in general is hardly enough to capture the general solo que experience, so I'm not sure why you feel comfortable even second-guessing here.

My biggest issue is them removing old seasonal cosmetics for no reason. This isn't Fortnite. You don't have millions upon millions of players to keep happy with new rotations of skins. There's 100% no reason to remove old cosmetics other than to milk us like cash cows.
Not only that, but even though they promised to release all new skins for unlicensed characters to be available for purchase with Iri Shards, what they're doing is releasing them as limited time, holiday cosmetics and those don't count. We will be forced to buy those with Auric cells unless we want to wait for next year's round of BS.
I'm not buying anything with Auric Cells anymore because of this policy change. There's no advantage to participating in this predatory behavior from a game that isn't even Free To Play. Nobody asked for this and I hope nobody supports it.
That is a good point. Personally, I couldn't care less about limited-time cosmetics as a concept. Making older cosmetics seasonal doesn't bother me in the slightest. But it is quite shady to announce that all cosmetics will become freely obtainable shortly after their release, and then start removing large numbers of new cosmetics for a full year right before they're supposed to be redeemable.
-
I'm with you, OP, I've run into so many killers slugging out of spite that I don't bother playing outside of events or PTBs anymore. And it's a direct result of BHVR floating the basekit UB idea in the first place. Congrats to all of you who don't play Survivor enough to run into this on a constant basis, but for some of us this is pretty darn frequent occurence.
-
Sorry to bump, but this is a really good question. It's nearly two full years later and this is still a constant issue after literally every update. Every. Single. Update.
In fact, it seems to be getting worse. I tried updating the game today after having not played at all since the last patch, which means I never went through the song-and-dance of letting EAC find whatever broken files that patch created, and now the update is so completely messed up that I have to reinstall. BHVR, please figure out how to properly update your game, please.
-
Oh...
Unfortunate.
-
IIRC, if you rotate her, she'll "jump" in the direction she's facing instead of taking over the screen.
-
You guys are acting like Mandy knew all along the items would come back and was just trying to trick you... You all really should know by now that BHVR doesn't finalize their plans a year in advance.

The pants are from the 80's Suitcase, a stand-alone cosmetics DLC. I think the top is the L4D Zoey jacket, available to everyone.

The problem is I lost. Fix it.
In so many words, this is more or less what people really mean when they complain about maps. Which is not to say all maps are perfect, but the fact that some maps aren't perfectly balanced is why it's so easy to say, 'those survs were/that killer was so bad, they only won because (map)'.
-
If getting more convoluted and nonsensical by the chapter counts as going somewhere, then sure, it's going somewhere.

It was stealth-disabled for a while, briefly back when the event started, and then full-on disabled because of the bugs mentioned earlier.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either. He somehow manages to be overdesigned AND horrifically generic at the same time. The whole 'but he took newer clothes as time went on!' feels like something they just threw in to justify giving him such a generic look.

At least its a little more unusual this year.
Feng getting one is annoying though.
These days BHVR can't let an update pass without Feng and Felix getting cosmetics, I'm just about numb to it at this point. Not to mention Jane got a mask in the last event, and got a full outfit in the Store just this week... so half of the Survivor shirt choices are questionable.
The event is okay for me so far. But like others are saying here, my biggest complaint is that they seem to have taken a step backwards from the last event. The Masquerade had a page where you could see your unlock progress on the various cosmetics. I'm not seeing that information this time.
-
I asked. They did it all because of me.
You're welcome!
-
It's not as terrible as you guys are saying. Quite a few of the placements are correct as far as what tiers the killers generally belong. The author clearly isn't someone with a lot of experience though. However, they definitely understand some things about the game. You could do a lot worse. I still remember an IGN article for Civilization IV that rated the only faction so utterly and undeniably overpowered that it was banned from competitive play as the worst in the game. In comparison, this doesn't seem so bad.

I mean regardless Rancor is a terrible perk now. Seeing the obsession’s aura is not a fair trade off for removing the mori. If it’s not going to have that then it should just be reworked. It’s not worth giving the obsession your aura 5 times a game for its new effects.
If you’re using it for information, there are far better perks to run that don’t have downsides.
Sure, I don't disagree that the perk would benefit from a rework. The aura reveal is worthless considering the perk already does something even better. But then, Rancor has never been a "good" perk. The only thing it's 'good' at is providing a consolation kill in the end-game, meaning it's generally outclassed by perks that help actually win the game. But a consolation kill with little counterplay is not at all a fair or enjoyable experience for whoever's unlucky enough to be the one. It's always needed a rework.

I'm not saying iconic as in well-beloved or even much-used.
I'm saying iconic as in easily recognizable, with a strong identity. There are plenty of perks that are whatever, where you don't even bother to remember the effects because they're just forgettable.
The mori is a pretty big part of Rancor, that made it, if not widely feared, at least memorable.
Fair enough.
-
Rancor? Iconic???
Really strange today to see so many suddenly praising Rancor like it's some beloved fan-favorite. The Rancor mori is a virtually uncounterable FU that punishes a random Survivor for the crime of spawning into the match. It can go, no problem.

In some form, it's been long overdue. The fact that up until now, a player can spend four whole minutes doing absolutely nothing depending on what mood the killer's in and sometimes due to their teammates, has always been an indefensibly boring, unfun, and obnoxious game mechanic. That said, I'll need time to actually play with it on the PTB to see how this proposed iteration feels. I don't think 45 seconds is necessarily too fast, but it's a major gameflow change that's going to take some time to get used to.
-
Dw, there's also the flip side, where I've had the hatch spawn right where I was slugged... or, right where I had been slugged until I crawled away while the killer took care of my other teammate. T_T
