  • It's hard not to lose interest when you can see the game experience getting worse and worse over time.

  • Yep, can't imagine why anyone would enjoy anonymity in a game as wholesome and toxicity-free as DBD.

Can't think of a single reason.

    Such a mystery!

  • They're a company not a charity, I think I need my money more than they do but thanks.

  • It was never intended to come within the next update. But the fact that nothing has been said since means they're going to do something different. How different is an open question; the hatch changes that became EGC weren't substantially different from what was tested on PTB despite taking nearly a year to get implemented.

  • It's a shame. Just this week I had a match against a Hillbilly that reminded me that getting chased by Billy is and has always been the most fun you can have in DBD as Survivor. And Billy is actually still one of the more common killers I run into, but I'm getting the impression that's not going to be the case if these changes go through. Sad.

  • The devs' new balancing philosophy was inspired by horror icon Laurie Strode's newest Oscar-winning masterpiece.

    Nerf Everything.

    Everywhere.

    All at once.

  • Hold on, sorry, but are you really complaining about the bloodweb changes of all things? If you want to keep wasting upwards of half an hour spending your bloodpoints still, you can. You don't have to use any of the new features that make spending points faster.

  • @arsoul93 said:

Came here to post the same thing, Billy can already feel awful to play and playing Billy with double engravings takes a lot of time investment. How can you guys honestly nerf double engravings while leaving Blight's speed addons completely untouched? Or his alch ring? Are you guys blind? Seriously, the changes are ridiculous at this point, find a better way to interpret the stats you take and start listening to people who actually play the game.

    This.

Imagine thinking "Hmm, you know what notable killer moves crazy fast and has speed addons that desparately need to be re-adjusted? What's his name? Oh right... Hillbilly."

  • Meta rotation.

The point of the changes is to delete those perks from the meta. Overkilling is the point. It's not good balancing, no, but can you really blame BHVR? They're giving the players what they want, and what players really want when they complain for months that something needs to be nerfed is for it to be nerfed into the ground. Look no further than Dead Hard. The last meta overhaul changed the perk in more or less the exact way that many killers had said for years needed to happen for them to be okay with the perk, and then it was adjusted again to be even less oppressive. And yet, here we are again.

  • Agreed. The level of interaction it added to killer powers was a good thing, the problem is how it was made available i.e. inconsistently depending on whether or not a Survivor had certain items. Here they just deleted an entire mechanic from four different powers and only one of them was replaced with something else, which is unfortunate because Lightburn was never properly fleshed out to be a viable counter to the Nurse.

But we see what you did there with that sleight of hand phrasing, BHVR. "It was unfair that these powers could be punished by a specific item" rather than "It was unfair that these powers could only be countered by having a specific item." Sure...

  • Insta-heals like Inner Strength and Adrenaline will skyrocket in usage now. I agree that the base healing nerf is a step too far, especially considering COH is getting obliterated and Medikits are affected as well. I'll give it a try like every other PTB change but this sounds like another idea that should die in the PTB.

  • Yellow Glyphs are indeed bugged at the moment. I really hope that by mid-chapter patch, the above poster actually means tomorrow's patch, because it's already enough of a bad joke that we would have a new batch of Yellow Glyphs included in the current tome when they've been broken for quite a while now. Are we really going to have to wait until after the rift is closed to finish one of the challenges for the corresponding tome?

  • How did you arrive at four years? It's been a thing since the very beginning of the game. In fact, it was way more of a problem back before dedicated servers.

Conversely, while yes it has been happening for a very long time, people have also wrongly declared that they've been getting DDOSed for just as long.

  • Yeah, it has to be some type of auto-spend or quick buy feature. Anything else would just be cruel; but then what else could it be? 6.7 is already looking good.

  • Y'know, if you're losing to an entire team running only 3 perks, your problem is not Adrenaline.

  • Seems like you've just had bad luck. I know I've rolled Asylum at least once in the last couple of days.

  • Since the update, there's been a lot of people reporting that the outer walls are missing in some areas.

there is on Spirit, they confirmed it's not enough to warrant killswitching

as opposed to Dredge getting ALL THE STEALTH.

    Interesting...

  • Still no word on Spirit though. At the very least, Haddonfield should also be killswitched as well.

  • Long gone are the days where it was actually possible to wiggle off without outside help, where a killer mistake in pathing was easily punished. And honestly, it's for the best; the old hook spacing only worked because Survivors hadn't adopted bodyblocking yet. There are definitely rare spawns when hooks are just way too close to each other now, but they are indeed rare.

  • I'm currently doing a full reinstall because BHVR still can't figure out how to properly push out updates nearly seven years into the game's lifespan, so I can't say I've moved on when I haven't been able to play it at all yet.

But as far as the next chapter, if it is licensed, you don't need to worry; there's a 0% chance they won't announce it well ahead of time. BHVR is never releasing a licensed chapter with just a small teaser right before a PTB ever again.

  • I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the killer's design, but I don't hate it. I'm kind of exhausted of all the hoopla about it by this point too. As for the gameplay, it' will be another wait-and-see, like every killer. So many killers completely change after PTB and a few patches. Her perks are quite bad, though.

I like the Survivors aesthetically. The perks are underwhelming except for one, but that's nothing new.

Shelter Woods is much better, although considering its previous version that's not saying as much as it sounds. The main issue is that the building was placed on the side of Shelter Woods that formerly had a decent clusters of structures and jungle gyms. The opposite side of the map is actually even worse than before since some of the pallets that used to be able to spawn close to the tree no longer appear. Running WoO made it clear how dire it is, seeing three or four pallets in an area that has three generators... oof.

My opinion on the Red Forest changes are the same as almost every map redesign: Eh.

    Looking forward to tomorrow.

  • When nobody plays a killer without using addons that completely change the playstyle, that's a pretty good sign the basekit needs an update. The only question is how.

  • Oh. I had just posted about how long it had been since the devs mentioned adjusting Survivor volumes, and now I see this thread. It highlights the main problem imo, on why the IW situaion has understandably left a bad taste in people's mouths. "Yes, we realize this perk we're nerfing was also popular for correcting a glaring flaw in our character design. But don't worry, we'll look into fixing that. A year from now. Maybe. Have fun 'til then!"

Your best bet, OP, might be the worst case scenario for the rest of us: BHVR decides to do another round of forced meta rotation, and they allow Iron Will to be 'in the rotation" for that round.

  • Hard to say without seeing exactly what happened, but it might just be a bug that happens every now and then? I haven't played against him in a long time so I have no way of knowing if it's become more common due to some new issue. But I have had odd games where no one in the lobby could manage to solve the box due to what you're describing, and generally I, and my average solo queue teammates, don't have much of an issue with it. So I'm led to believe that occassionally the chain hunt logic glitches and you get situations where the time between the series of chains is smaller than intended.

  • There's a difference between lying and neglecting to stick to previous commitments due to changed plans or circumstances. BHVR is routinely guilty of the latter. Remember when they nerfed Iron Will but said they would look into leveling out Survivor volumes so characters like Jeff, Jane, etc. weren't so much more obnoxiously loud than others? Neither do they.

  • Every time they have these events you end up despising whatever maps won because you have to see them every single day. And the same few maps always get picked too. It's always Dead Dawg, always Coal Tower, always Gas Heaven. I usually just pick up the good Shrine perks, log in each morning for the daily rewards, and then leave when this event is going on.

  • I believe the answer is yes. You'd probably want to read over the FAQ on cross-progression (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/sections/6714025818260-Behaviour-Account-Cross-Progression), but by linking your Steam and Epic accounts through your BHVR account, you should be able to use whatever content you've earned on one platform on the other. That would include a ST key redeemed on Steam.

  • 3 out of your 4 bullet points were problems that not only existed but were also objectively worse under the old ranking systems.

  • It's impossible to predict anything when there's so many different things the movie could be. It could be about the lore of the game/Entity, it could just the lore of one specific killer being adapted...

  • I like the way you worded the question, 'on' instead of 'of.' Because in that case, yes, my hopes on it are that it never returns and it's looking good so far.

  • There's so many killers in the game now that I find it imposible to keep track of what the current consensus is on tiers anymore. But AFAIK Pig is still pretty awful. Trapper and Sadako are other common picks but Trapper has asnowball/sudden comeback potential and Sadako has a similar slowdown mechanic except hers is passive and she also has teleporting... so still probably Pig.

  • IDK my view is probably different than most since, with my PC not being so good, I've had plenty of PTBs where the game was completely unplayable. I remember Blight's being one of those, it tends to be that way when they implement major graphics updates.

  • Anyone who has been around here long enough, who remembers the times they have given stats out in the past knows why they don't bother doing it much. Every single time, without fail, people ignore most of it and narrow in on whatever they can find to draw wild and willfully narrow conclusions that support their aggreived Survivor/Killer main agenda.

  • A few weeks ago, I had a day when I faced the Twins TWICE. It wasn't even the same person eithe! It was genuinely two different people playing the Twins. And it was before the last patch fixed some of their major issues too. I was stunned.

  • I'm not exactly a fan of them, but I was planning on picking up the Claudette one. I'm sad it's not happening, but can't say I'm surprised, it was taking way too long for any news to come out.

  • The only change it needs is to make it actually work properly, since on the PTB it was extremely buggy. Nerfs aren't remotely warranted.

  • You're not wrong, the PTB is definitely mostly for advertising these days, that and making sure that if something is completely broken they can patch it either before release or in a hotfix. That said, you can't say they never make serious changes after PTB feedback either. Look at Twins, they launched on PTB with two complete hard counters to their power. It's clear from how slowly and sloppily they addressed those problems that they were quickly responding to PTB feedback (which makes it kind of incredible no one noticed said problems before then, but that's another topic). And granted, Twins are still a mess to this day, but they were definitely changed directly based on PTB experience.

  • The redesigned forum is hard to stay engaged with.

(And FTR, I could not disagree more about the current meta being worst ever. I don't even think it cracks Top 3 worst, tbh.)

  • @thrawn3054 said:

All of the perks seem pretty terrible imo.

    They are.

But it's impossible to have a PTB without killers latching on to at least one Survivor perk and calling for it to be nerfed. This time around it seems Blood Rush is 'the one'.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/365406/are-vittorio-mains-new-megs

Vittorio is so extremely popular, he sold very well probably

Is he? I rarely see him.

Anyway, all survivors are pretty much equally dumb. The only standouts are that licensed characters tend to attract newer player so baby Adas, and maybe baby Leons still, are even more common, but other than that you see incompetence in everyone.

  • I know this is a discussion forum and it can be nice to have more extended debate now and then, but honestly? Some of you are way too invested in this. People are allowed to not like a character, simple as that. And if you don't like the killer, that's cool, you don't need to make up reasons why. Like, a reason you hate the killer is because the face behind the mask is supposedly the Trickster's? Give me a break. Nevermind that being behind a mask means the face has no impact on the experience whatsoever, or, you know, the fact that it isn't even the Trickster's face.

  • Every killer is a general take of some kind of horror trope. This conspiracy about the new chapter is so tired.

  • Seems harsh. And maybe I just don't know how VAC works (I'm not a cheater, why would I), but can't someone just... make another account? Move to Epic? Most developers like it when people play their games so I don't think this idea is going anywhere.

  • I think it will do fine, honestly. I get the impression that the volume of anger at the chapter is loudest where leaks and rampant speculation were being traded around the most. I think the majority of casual plauers, going in without having built up too many expectations, aren't going to be so disappointed.

  • I'm actually glad to see that I'm not the only one who's been seeing Myers almost exclusively running Tombstones or Tuft lately, although a few Scratched Mirrors show up here and there. I remember when he was my favorite killer to face. Now he's second only to Blight for me as the killer that kills any/all interest in even touching this game. Every match boils down to a few simple miserable outcomes, either he never gets T3 until the end and it's a boring steamroll, or he gets it so early your only options are ~fun~ and ~exciting~ locker stalemates or die after seconds of interaction.

  • lol @ anyone saying there's no alternatives to Eruption. Your probably getting yet another one in two minutes.

  • Too bad they ended up leaking the names of the survivor and killer all by themselves anyway...

  • You could already reliably tell when the gen was at 70% by looking at the pistons, which is honestly probably easier to approximate than eyeballing 70% on the very tiny HUD icons.

  • It's not the first time they've given a cute but meaningless buff to a medicore perk that doesn't address why said perk isn't being used (for starters, the fact that they still haven't changed the interaction time after nerfing it from the PTB). Probably won't be the last.
