What is with people asking for more $15 skins over $5 full characters?
Also, just having a higher absolute number of non-licensed characters and skins floating around isn't going to make everyone play licensed characters less. The former are still purely cosmetic, and people are playing the RE characters because they like those characters, not for simple cosmetic reasons.
-
I disagree with everyone here.
Nurse is fun. Blight isn't.
An even more unpopular opinion! I win?

The only more toxic communities I've ever seen are the Fall Guys community and the Town of Salem Community.
It's funny that neither of those communities get brought up much in discussions like these. Though admittedly I've only seen small bits of FG discussion here and there since it's gone F2P, but even from that I totally believe this. And I know for a fact DBD toxicity has nothing on ToS.
-
The power is designed to make you slower in chases, it would be pretty weird if it didn't advance during a chase.
My question is why Wesker/Nemesis get a killer instinct notification to let them go and give it right back to you whenever you remove the infection.
-
I'll just echo some of the other responses: spending $15 more for a simple uncustomizable skin that goes on top of a character you already have to pay $5 for, when the latter is a skin plus exclusive perks... that will always be pretty silly.

When used by SWF, it's actually balanced. If only SoloQ could perform the same as SWF, then we could truly stop camping.
It's a good countermeasure for any killer trying to get a head start by killing someone at 5 gens.
It's not really 'balanced' in SWF more than it has some niche use. Hence the frustration, since it was shaping up to be a usable perk that wasn't just another SWF gimmick in the PTB. But a coordinated SWF has no genuine use for the perk in the first place, and one person using it in solo queue is not bringing enough value for this to earn a perk slot anymore.
The perk was always overrated, but at least before it would force the killer to actually play the game. If BHVR actually cared about the poor Survivor being "held hostage" they could have simply limited the uses during the second phase, since the survivor can still kobe through the first phase.
On the other hand, this could be for the best; fixing a core problem like camping through a perk locked behind a licensed paywall was never a good idea to begin with.
-
All the more reason not to bother with it this time.
-
Some odd people also find pulling teeth fun, as long as they're the dentist.
-
Since I'm not buying any of the store ones anyway, I went with B since the Yun-Jin design is leagues ahead of the David one. But with B currently losing about 2-1... oh well.
-
You can't postpone something that was never announced. The last midchapter came out on Wednesday, and the PTB for this update came on a Wednesday, so you can't say it'd be weird if the update didn't drop tomorrow.

when is the patch coming out?
Tuesday or Wednesday, I think.

OP is right about the upcoming NOED changes, it will be meaningless. Which is really funny considering how BHVR justified the other perk reworks. "Yes, we ourselves insist that Self-Care isn't very good, but statistics say it's a top three most-used survivor perk, so we're going to completely destroy it." vs. "Yes, we know many people complain about NOED and statistics say it's a top three most-used killer perk, but we don't care, we like it, so we're not changing anything significant about its utility."

The difference between the two is night/day
Like I can do decent against a good basekit nurse I think but when ranged addons are in the mix It feels like no matter what I do nothing works
The increased speed just throws me off and it's super hard to react and even if I make the 'right' move I still get hit anyway because of the speed.
I've gone against the exact same killer three or four times when they were using the add-ons, and then once when they weren't. Every time they used the addons, the entire team was absolutely man-handled for an easy 4K in minutes. The one time they didn't have the add-ons? The Nurse was the one who got blown out, it was an easy escape.
The fact that we're supposed to accept that this is working as intended is just... I don't have the words...
-
These threads always confuse me. Maybe it's a PC/Crossplay Off thing, but Billy is literally one of my most common killers. He definitely disappeared for a long time after the rework, but at least since the beginning of this year he's always been in my Top 5 most seen killers. And I'm not just pulling that number out of nowhere, I actually keep a record of how often I see killers and survivors whenever I'm playing consistently. Maybe one, two at max, were the same person, but that still wouldn't make him "rare" compared to most killers in the game.
-
The Shrine of Secrets is disgustingly outdated, and instead of doing a single thing to address the issue, BHVR is going to make it even more obnoxious with the upcoming chapter. It's actually hilarious that they're telling us we can get a perk at automatic Level 3 just by purchasing it in the Shrine three separate times. One of Deathslinger's perks, yes, a killer that came out in 2020, took until last month to appear in the Shrine for the very first time. But thank you so much BHVR, we're all so grateful that we might be able to have it at Tier 3 in time for the 10th anniversary. Maybe we'll shoot for the 12th anniversary to finally get Soul Guard to that point, a perk which has now also been in the game for two full years without a single Shrine appearance, but then let's not get too hasty.

@dictep said:
Probably they will nerf the perk again so you could only use it once
And only after unhooking another survivor,* sounds about right.
*That previously unhooked you.
-
Honestly, me. :/
I quit last time that they upped the gen times, and I feel like these next few months are just going to be a rinse and repeat. It's completely inevitable that we're going to see an adjustment to hook times or that something will be done about the disparity between the increased gen times and the viability of camping in the near future, and I'll be back when they do. But in the short-term, there's nothing to be excited about, imo as a solo survivor. Because I used to always say it's a good thing BHVR doesn't listen to the community all that much when it comes to balancing decisions, but
somequite a few of their recent choices have me seriously reconsidering that. -
No tangible improvements to the problems facing solo survivors in the upcoming meta. It was definitely not what I needed to see, personally.
-
"No one plays him anymore".
Not really. He's one of the most common killers I see, actually. He's still a strong killer, after all.
-
Each bloodweb after 40 is about 50k; sometimes a little less, sometimes quite a bit less (~35k if the Entity is really cooperative). But it's about 500k to do 10 levels.
-
I wouldn't expect them for at least a year or so, but I doubt they'll never come back.
-
It's a whole season of the two strongest killers in the game. I still remember how bad the last Nurse tome was. Boy, what a grand time to play solo queue these next few months are going to be.
-
I thought the next one was going to be Dredge recolors? Did they actually confirm Jeff's was coming this month?
-
The sheer number of cosmetics that would be involved in giving out legacy cosmetics again makes that a non-starter, barring something lazy like the anniversary crowns. Not to mention we have way more licensed characters now; leaving out only Michael/Laurie wasn't that big a deal in 2016, but denying players who have devoted time into the large number of different licensed characters of the same rewards would be much more unfair. Legacy cosmetics will and should stay a one-time thing.

It is supposed to be an anti tunnel perk.
You aren't being tunneled in the end game.
Simple as that, DS in the end game was not fair.
Right, so if a killer has chased you and only you for the majority of the game, but you've managed to survive until the gates are powered, you're suddenly not being tunneled? This BHVR logic does not compute.
-
I'd actually use the Yui cosmetic. It's kinda annoying to see a female survivor design win for the fourth year in a row, but Yui was shafted last year in the cosmetics department last year so it's cool to see her get some love this year. I like that it doesn't have a ridiculously gaudy backpack accessory.
-
Depends on the map, usually. If the team isn't terrible AND she's not running those addons, Nurse matches can be fun.
But if I'm running bad/niche perks to do a challenge and it's Nurse, then yeah, I usually give up any hope of getting it done.
-
I have about 10 Million BP waiting to burn, so yeah, I'll probably bring Haddie and Zarina up to P3. I leave the characters I have no interest in playing at Lvl 1 unless they have interesting perks, but if the OTR and Overzealous buffs go through it'd be nice to have their perks ready.

If DH was saving you from a Blight or Nurse, you weren't playing a very good Blight or Nurse to begin with, and are probably equally not very good at the game - as they're two killers who don't really care about it in the grand scheme of a match.
@psionic said:
What? New Dead Hard is stronger against Nurse and Blight
Why are either of you talking about Dead Hard? The OP never referred to that perk at all.
-
Dead Hard - Sprint Burst was already competing for it before 'exhausted on the ground' was fixed, and now the amount of precision required to get use out of it makes picking SB a no-brainer. Even the other Exhaustion perks like Lithe, BL, and arguable even Overcome are just more consistent.
Iron Will - Useless at anything less than 100%
Self-Care - I've defended this perk so many times over the years, but now it is truly, truly a bad perk.
Calm Spirit - And it was never good to begin with...
-
Mhm, quite surprising given they had a section titled Camping (and Tunnellng), but it's true.
Well maybe not; I suppose some might call giving camping a massive buff to be 'addressing' it, in a sense.
-
No, mori changes were slated for an update around Halloween.

Yes but the other exhaustion perks usually SET UP a chase and don't benefit much mid chase. Smash hit and balanced are very niche and don't happen often. Dead hard is literally there to be used mid chase, doesn't matter how long the chase has been, and then just extend it even longer making the killer waste even more time.
That's a feature, not a bug.
SB's ability to set up a a favorable chase environment is going to far outshine whatever utility players manage to salvage from this weakened DH.
-
Wow, so if you happen to time it just right you might be able to get one speed boost before the killer learns to bait it out. That is Smash Hit levels of terrible, but then again, this same forum complained about Smash Hit when it was announced so I shouldn't be surprised.
-
If the new DH scares you, you're going to need to sit down while I tell you about a perk called Sprint Burst.
-
My brother in the Entity, it's an Exhaustion perk. They all help you avoid getting downed.
-
I was definitely not expecting a nerf to Calm Spirit of all things when they announced a meta shakeup. Secret S Tier, I guess.
-
Completely agree, especially on bloodlust (thought there was strong agreement that the mechanic was extremely outdated?) and hook timers. It's absolutely stunning that they're going to increase gen speeds without doing anything to weaken camping in return.
-
It wouldn't be DBD patch day without someone insisting a viciously murdered perk was actually buffed, you guys. Now the day feels complete.
-
Absolutely murdered. Goes to show that years of getting memed from the NA community isn't enough to fly under the radar. Numbers-wise, the perk was always pretty good. It never stopped being funny watching streamers say how bad Self-Care is while they spent match after match wasting minutes looking for some way to heal themselves.
I'll miss you so much, Self-Care. :(
-
The new anti-camping mechanic is that there is no new anti-camping mechanic. Isn't that going to be fun? With these increased gen times, face-camping has never been stronger.
-
DH, IW, Self-Care all completely gutted into the trash... NOED basically the exact same. Hooray. They didn't even update Botany to account for the additive vs. multiplicative change they made last year. sigh In the grand scheme of things, these perk changes are completely forgettable given the glaring oversights in the base kit adjustments.
At least I now have a reason to dump points into Haddie and Zarina.
-
Yeah, this is a classic "Tell them it's a feature" bug, because... no way. There's no way someone designed these add-ons, saw them in action, and said, "Perfect, works exactly like I intended it!"
-
My main didn't get a mask.
-
Neither of those perks are problems.
Contrary to what you'd think from reading these forums, the last nerf to COH was overkill. It's usage has fallen off so dramatically, to the point it doesn't really qualify as meta. Meanwhile, UB is and always will be one of the perks that's often run but usually wasted. Neither of them needed any changes.
-
I had the exact same reaction. It's a really weird way to handle things, intentionally releasing a perk knowing it needs a second look.

Eh, the other exhaustion perks are still useful against Nurses. Blight is going to be a much bigger issue on that front.

huh interesting
they still could've put in more effort, like changing the eye colour or the rest of the hair maybe
i get that they're only supposed to be small alterations but they never had this issue with other characters
Completely agree. The options we're left here are simply boring
like everything else about Haddie. -

I'm given to understand that the core joke is "Nea is ugly" so, I'd daresay it was never particularly funny to begin with lol
That's actually not true, lol.
Granted, it's sort of become that because the initial core of the joke wouldn't make any sense to anyone who hears it nowadays. But the whole thing started as Nea being a killer because Nea was so unpopular for the first year of the game, i.e. she can't be a survivor because have you ever actually seen a Nea? Sam actually talks about this exact thing in some video of his.
-
Still funny six years later.
