  • Oh, is Light-footed the designated "OP" survivor perk of the chapter? Weird.

  • Because you can't be bothered to learn what new perks do is a terrible reason to stop making new ones, fyi.

  • 2016 here, since the Asylum update. Still here, somehow.

Ty, guys! So if I'm not mistaken the PTB lasts for 15 days after which the chapter is released? Or is there one week after closing the PTB?

I usually play on PTBs until they close, and nowadays PTBs end the following Monday after they begin. So, that's five or six days depending on whether it's a Tuesday or Wednesday launch.

  • I expect it to be indoors, but I'm not going to despair. I want to believe BHVR can make an indoor map that's not as terrible as Hawkins.

  • YES!!! Finally! I remember when this forum opened five years ago, on all the 'Which licenses do you want to see threads' Alien and Dead Space were always the top of my list. And one of them is finally happening! I knew when Richards said 'our first' sci-fi killer with with Singularity it sounded like he was hinting at another one very soon, and with the 'capital L' License hint, all the signs were there. Now we just need Dead Space and my licensed wish list will be complete.

  • Hard disagree, but to each their own.

  • I think this is a gltich rather than a bizarre and genuine update to the cosmetic. It looks a lot like the backpack that is supposed to be a part of the Felix 'community' cosmetic that was shown off during the anniversary. It's not an exact match to the one in the concept art but it's pretty close.

  • Oh, cool, I had missed that. I did know there would be some kind of event next month and I figured it might have a tome with it, but it's nice to have confirmation. Honestly, this is pretty great, if only because the July Rift was the only one without any accompanying event for it. Last year I didn't even bother keeping up with that season's tome because without the extra shards from the events it's still far too much of a grind.

  • They really like giving survivors something interesting to stare at, presumably because Survivors spend most of their time looking at their backs, and so do killers when they're chasing those survivors... Personally, I despise all those things too. A toggle option would be phenomenal.

  • I'm a hoarder. I try to look for chests once the gates are powered to add to my collection.

  • Interesting, though I'm not sure why they would have considered it in the first place. I can't see what they would have expected to gain.

  • I can remember three of them, Balanced Landing, since it was a nice surprise to get an Exhaustion perk; Troubleshooter, because I had no idea what perk it was until I looked it up after the match; and Object of Obsession, which lead to my absoulte favorite thing in DBD, getting chased by a Blight within ten seconds of starting the match. Thankfully I managed to get the challenge done before getting mori'd, though.

it might just have taken a short while to propegate through - it's most definitely kill switched, the offering as well

    Ah, okay then. Thanks.

  • Is the killswitch broken again or did it just take a while for them to actually killswitch it? As soon as I saw that announcement I landed on Gas Heaven.

Honestly I don't understand why they wanted to make it public in the first place, literally just feels like they didn't want to change the layout so they added prestige emblems to fill the void left by ranks...

Showing prestige doesn't bring anything to the game besides relentless dodging, in-game harrasment and skewed feedback about MMR / SBMM based solely on a shiny number.

I hope they finally decide to get rid of it soon, but if they don't P100 characters will become common soon enough that you won't be mocked for it anymore (hopefully)

Indeed, it's a complete mystery why they ever made it visible in the first place. You'd almost be fooled into thinking they hadn't specifically removed these same kinds of features multiple times over the last years for this same exact reason.

  • Unfortunately, that was a part of the Deep Rift from the last tome. So not only is the base form of it a long ways away from being available again, I'm not sure if the Deep Rift items are ever coming back.

  • I don't have as great a story as yours, but I ended missing out on the head piece too since I was on vacation for a few days during that anniversary. I'm also glad to finally have the full set, even if I don't know how often I'll end up using it. :)

It's not that kind of perks, the effect of movement speed is mostly equivalent.

and using bond for example there is stupid, because actual effect of it is showing your friend and not exactly "survivors", so it makes more sense to show crows aura, which would be mostly as strong as bond I'm sure.

Also I don't believe 50% longer stun duration is any stronger than enduring either tbh.

If you're going to nitpick the Bond comparison, then you should reconsider how you started this entire discussion, since the killer equivalent of MFT would making the killer 3% faster instead of hinder Survivors. Does it really matter? Asymmetrical game is asymmetrical. It's not complicated.

  • This kind of tit-for-tat equivalancy doesn't work for plenty of perks, though. Would it be balanced for Survivors to have a perk that grants 50% longer stun durations? Gotta get rid of Enduing then. Would it be okay for Killers to see the aura of any survivor within 36 meters? Then I guess it's decided, Bond needs to go.

Almost like we're talking about an asymmetrical game and what works for one side is implicity different for the other...

  • I'm not sure I understand the purpose behind the speed penalty while charging the EMP. I guess it comes down to a basic question: Are you or aren't you expected to use them during a chase? If so, then what's the point of trying to deny overdrive if you're just going to get hit regardless because of how much slower you're moving? If not, then why be able to move at all?

  • The rescuer should have the common sense to try and have an EMP ready whenever they're going for a save against Singularity, so I don't see this as too much of an issue.

  • @patronsaintofpizza said:

Sorry if this was already recommended but I also think the insta heal should not proc if the killer is using Terminus. If Terminus inflicts broken, there's no reason it shouldn't be applied to insta-heals like Adrenaline.

Unless Terminus is bugged again, it already does stop the heal from Adrenaline (from injured to healthy, at least).

  • Does anyone know what the specific issue is?

  • Yes it has; unfortunately, the devs have very recently confirmed that cross-progression between consoles and/or PC is not coming anytime soon.

  • It's a win-more perk. It's fun when it works, but it rarely makes an actual difference either way.

Hey friend, I don't think anyone would argue that spending four minutes on the ground is a rocking good time for all involved. But the ability to pick yourself up unconditionally had some very clear knock-on effects elsewhere in the game and we saw them very clearly during the PTB where it was tested. If something fixes one problem and creates several others, then it's not something that we can really justify doing.

This does not mean that we think that being slugged to death is a great time. It just means that this wasn't the right fix for it, and rather than barreling ahead with it, we would rather give it the time and thought to find something that works. But all that said, putting words in our mouths isn't going to help anything. If you insist on inserting your own assumptions into our responses, it's just going to sour your opinion from the get-go. We're not evil masterminds who are out to get you specifically, we're just trying to make a game that's fun for everyone.

No, sorry, but I don't think this is a mere "assumption". If not 'healthy', then 'healthy enough'. Slugging-to-death has been a mechanic for SEVEN years! I don't think it's uncalled for at all to doubt that BHVR sees this as an issue when it's existed for this long, and certainly not a single word in the initial QA indicated otherwise. Look, I'm grateful that the QA at the very least finally provided some confirmation regarding a feature some of us have been desparately looking forward to... but that's just the 'what'... it's little naive to think something like that is going to be meant with a 'Shucks, if you say so BHVR!' without a single 'why'. In fact, this post is, quite conspiciously, the very first time BHVR has even tried to defend or explain its decisions regarding the slugging changes in last year's PTB... if you're going to be incensed at the community putting words into your mouths, there's a very easy to nip that in the bud well ahead of time. And it's not with half a year of radio silence while the problem gets even worse.

  • Four minutes on the ground doing jack is perfectly healthy gameplay, got it. FFS.

  • Oh dear, you're going to want to sit down for this; I have some very shocking news to you about a perk called 'Built to Last'.

  • He'll be a standalone character. A survivor will never get front billing over a killer.

People pushing and stressing out over grades is still something Ive never understood

Removing depipping I dont have an issue with, but there are just so many other issues that are way more important.

    This.

I can't remember the last time I paid attention to whether or not I pipped. I'm really surprised how often this comes up as a discussion topic here because I never would have guessed this many people cared.

  • @Araphex said:

Try having your entire team slugged almost every single match. Believe me, its far worse. The past 3 days now, more and more killers end up slugging my entire team and bleeding us all out. Even Unbreakable is useless. Wraith, Spirit, Myers, Blight, Legion, Plague, Nurse, Ghostface, Deathslinger, and Bubba to name a few of the killers I went against only to have us all slugged with slow down healing perks on top of it.

It feels like it's always one or the other these days. But as obnoxious as 4-man slugging is, at the end of day tunneling is a much more serious problem. There's generally very few reasons to commit to slugging everybody from the start other than to grief. Meanwhile, in Year 7 DBD, there's no reason not to tunnel.

  • Any halfway functional perk is always going to be a "problem".

No one's complaining about Smash Hit and Background Player, are they? At least not outside of PTBs, where everything is called OP.

  • The short answer is yes.

Call me a trash, entitled survivor main or whatever, but at the end of the day the killer strategies/play styles that were terrible against SWFs and only effective against bad solo queue team for the better part of six years are now decent against SWFs and completely destroy solo queue. It's been this way for nearly a year and BHVR has not acknowledged this problem in any fashion. In fact, they've consistently exacerbated it since then.

  • There are a lot mechanics/features in this game that you would think should scale to certain factors, but those factors should be something objective like the state of the match, not MMR.

oh boy, now i cant rage quit after the upcoming patch and instead i have to do the rift.

    Unironically this.

I just want you to know I hate you for this BHVR. I was so ready to take a nice break from the game for a couple of months and had no intention of doing the rift... but now I am, under protest. smh

2 of the best? wglf literally had no effect on gameplay for like 5 years

Maybe not after the nerf, but OG WGLF was nuts. Mmm, and I still remember that first weekend, 200% WGLF and Triple BPs. So much farming. Good times.

But actually, you are right that current WGLF isn't terrible when you consider it was basically a 'You only get 3 perks' handicap in exchange for BPs for the longest time. So yeah, I wouldn't say it's been destoyed compared to what it used to be.

Also if you look at the alice skin, it mentions "we aren't in kansas anymore" which is wizard of oz, not alice in wonderland.

The same description directly references Wizard of Oz before that, though, so they knew what they were doing.

If you had been DDOS'd you're entire internet connection would have gone down. DDOS'ing sends an overwhelming number of packet requests directly to your IP address, shuts down your connection to the internet entirely, and the only way to get your connection back is to contact your Service Provider and have them change your IP address, and then Release and Renew the IP address settings on your computer.

You weren't DDoS'd, what happened to you was just an interrupted connection with the server you were playing on.

This is spot-on and I think more people in the community need to read and understand it.

Certain content creators have given the community a very misleading perception of what DDOSing actually is.

  • We still have 2 more weeks of the DH meta and we're already complaining about SB? Say it ain't so, and after all those reddit posts I read saying this exact thing wouldn't happen!

  • "It encourages the killer to hit the unhooked survivor and put them in the deep wound state, meaning that they can no longer use dead hard..."

That already happens on live with the current DH (and OTR). Honestly, this post sounds like an opposite side version of the 'Blood Rush encouraes tunneling!!!' charade.

  • At the very least, these are significantly better than what was in the PTB. Which is still damning with faint praise, but it's something.

  • But wouldn't doing it as you suggested be far more tedious? Do you really want to have to collect the genmats twenty times versus (insert however many charms there are now)? This way is nice and simple.

  • Do these codes have an expiration date?

My DBD computer bricked out yesterday and my backup can just barely even open the game, so it'd be great if we could put off redeeming until later...

  • Crossplay Off Queue times have been insanely bad lately. Not sure what region you're in, but I've given up trying to play in the morning because even after 15+ minutes it will still be searching for a match. And that's actually a huge bummer because the earlier games were usually far nicer than night games.

I guess it's possible that there's just no one around, but I can't help but feel that something's not working properly with crossplay off matchmaking. Crossplay off has existed for years, queue times were fine in the mornings for years. I can't see why, if everything was working, all of the sudden the population would die off completely... and nothing short of a complete die off would explain two hour queues.

  • What's the date range for those stat though? He was killswitched for a good chunk of the month.

  • Sprint Burst works very well for this one and is what I used. Most killers will expect to hit you if you run away the the first time you're within M1 range, so it's easy to get at least one miss per game before they realize you have SB. But you're not wrong, there are plenty of killers whose powers make it really unlikely they'll even try a basic attack on you... but there's no way around it besides playing until you find ones that will.

  • Overall, I agree with you and the reason I absolutely despise these upcoming changes is because rather than address what has already become the #1 reason solo survivor is miserable (hard tunneling/camping being literally stronger than its ever been without involving moris), the next changes are actually going to make it even worse.

  • "meta shake up was not that bad compared to..."

Every terrible balance decision that BHVR has been making for the last year is a direct result of the meta shake up, so I disagree.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 36
