  • I've barely heard of him or his franchise, his perks are hilariously bad... not feeling anything from this one.

  • Left Behind (from the killer, in a 4 Escape game).

Worse than before but the way you described it is that survivors are the ones making mistakes while killers have already adapted. The solution is survivors need to be smarter and adapt as well. Its still better than straight up face camping because its a free buff.

I'm not sure where you're going with this. Yes, the fact that survivors are making so many mistakes with the system and the fact that killers have easily adapted is exactly why the system has made things worse.

As far as it being a free buff... if a bonus that comes into play 1 out of 50 matches (and that's being really generous) is a confounding distraction for the other 49, it's not a buff at all.

That sure sounds better than them standing 2 feet away under the hook for 60s

    Funny enough, it's not.

Before the new system, whenever that happened, it was a non-issue because survivors would understand that the hooked person is being camped and respond by either forcing a trade or coordinating a rescue. Whereas now, they believe the hooked person will be able to escape on their own, mostly because, barring Kindred, a survivor who approaches the hook and sees the killer rush right in front has no way of knowing how far the killer was standing before they got there. By the time they realize the killer is playing around the mechanic, the hooked person hits the second phase, to finally be rescued and immediately tunneled out of the game. Genuinely worse than before.

  • It's boring.

Though it's always good for a laugh when I'm that last Survivor and the killer comes into the post-game chat like I'M the one who chose to waste THEIR time.

  • We had a preview of this during the Halloween event when the final charm was only available from playing both roles. So, can't say I didn't see this coming.

But I actually agree with OP. We've never had to play the other role to unlock a cosmetic for a specific side before and I'm surprised the community that complains about everything doesn't care about that not being the case anymore. If this is okay, why wouldn't it be fine to have tomes requiring a specific role to finish a page? If that's okay, why not require a specific character for that challenge too?

    I don't like the precedent.

  • @bjorksnas said:

If by the anti-camp you mean the anti-facecamp then yes there is now more regular camping because people can't facecamp anymore so if 1/10 people facecamped 4/10 camped and 5/10 didn't camp then yes 5/10 people camping is more but it did remove what they intended it to remove

I have to disagree with you on that one. I get facecamped way more than I did before the "anti-facecamp" update.

Killers start by hard camping right outside the radius, even that happens more often than before. Then, as soon as another Survivor moves in they, the killer goes to the hook to deny the save. Or even better, they wait outside the hook radius until just long enough so that even if they do just face-camp the bar will never fill in time. I'd say it's impressive how many seem to know how exactly how far to stand or exactly how long to wait to make a complete joke of the system, but it's probably more that the system is just that easy to gimmick.

why are you even saying this when they steam rolled past the OG's feature point? Tiffany skin rn is 20 dollars and so is the dumb bear nobody asked for and he has more to him like a new mori than a license. Please Open your eyes and help make the game better with voicing. Mobile has been sitting there inputting stuff for so long and now the PC needs to catch up

I have no idea what point you're trying to make by talking about skins.

It's very simple. A mobile port will always have an easier time adding new features and testing new things than a more developed version. And separate management means their decisions are all about what works for their version of the game specifically. BHVR has already shown that they're willing to learn from and take what works from what the mobile team has done, but frankly, the game is better off without a lot of that stuff. The grass really isn't that much greener on the other side.

  • Great change. Not very useful for me personally since I'm only missing one Survivior from that roster, but a general price reduction for older characters is great for newer players and long overdue imo.

  • Why wouldn't a mobile game be easier to update and experiment new content on compared to a full game? Not to mention that DBD mobile spent several years just catching up to the main game, at this point it's not really weird at all that it's doing its own thing.

  • I'm glad about the overall choice of gameplay and perks that are getting addressed, but yeah, the timeline of up to 6 months for some of these changes is a bit puzzling.

The only thing I'm really questioning is the potential change to Mangled and Sloppy. When it comes to Sloppy and its copycat addons, the frustrating part is Hemorrhage, not Mangled. In my opinion, at least, but I'm curious what the argument is for the other way around.

  • I'm experiencing this as well, except in my case it's a bit stranger. I've been using the same Wiretap/Blast Mine combo to try and get the challenge done, however, in the first match I attempted it, I was able to actually get 20/80 progress towards the challenge. Yet since then, despite using the same build, I haven't gained any progress.

  • It's definitely a worthy license. I've never seen any of the films, but I still recognize that Chucky is a horror icon. Looking forward to seeing what they do with him.

  • I think BHVR can and should be far more generous with IS. There's such a massive number of character to unlock at this point that it's kind of crazy you only earn enough shards for 1 or maybe 1.5 characters for every 2, or even 3 that drop every three months. I don't think more shards would hurt the cosmetic cash train either, when the 21K you need to save for a single outfit is nearly good enough for a whopping 5 characters if you buy them during an event.

The Shrine is also long overdue for a rework, although it's been suspiciously generous lately.

Beyond those issues, I think the grind is in an okay spot now. The fact that new unlicensed characters are now guaranteed to have their perks in the Shrine within about two months of release helps a lot with perk accessibility. Prestiging itself is really simple now. Doing it even three times on one character is a breeze. It's still a bit harder for killers when it comes to perks on characters you're not interested in, but I don't think the sheer number is a problem at all. Having 30+ killers just means hundreds of hours content if you're brand new. So many different playstyles to experience if you choose to, to ignore if you want, and you have as much time as you care to put into the game to get to it all. Not so bad.

  • That really wouldn't make any sense at all, considering they already announced one killer rework for the next release and would have no reason to play coy with a second one, all while refusing to talk about the one thing everyone cares about the most.

  • Moris were a part of the game at launch.

I really don’t know how anyone can say the new maps are just “a bit nicer looking”. Look how bad these screenshots are, of what maps used to look like. I can’t even tell what color most of the objects are supposed to be, because they’ll all drowning in a super saturated color filter.

The only ugly part of those screenshots is the survivor model. The maps looks great. Hawkins has many issues but the color filter isn't one of them imo.

  • At least the lack of an announcement makes sense now. Today is supposed to be a 'Stranger Things Day', right? So they wanted to bring back the chapter today specifically. But if the next chapter isn't ST-related, announcing it earlier and then pulling all the hype away to celebrate a different license wouldn't be so nice. Meanwhile, if it is ST pt. 2, then it also makes sense to let everyone enjoy the old content now, then surprise us with even more on Wednesday while everyone is still excited for the license.

  • Compensate for what? For offering content at a discount?

  • There's still, at the moment, no word about what next chapter's content. It may or may not be Stranger Things-related, but what they are saying here is that the return of ST is not itself the new content promised on the road map. We still have the solo killer coming for the next PTB, in other words.

  • We lost.

    DELETE IT AGAIN.

    I'm crying.

    In despair.

  • Anyone calling the MFT changes a buff, or even denying that they're a nerf, I hope you understand you are also the reason MFT hasn't been changed up until now. The same kinds of people who called it OP for months before, now clearly demonstrating both that they don't understand what makes a perk strong or not, and that they'll say that about everything.

  • It's quite odd for a licensed killer. What could be big enough to be 'Capital L' license but at the same time not be worth drumming up hype for? Makes you wonder.

  • @Crowman said:

Survivors have access to plenty of endurance effects. While MFT is weaker than live, it's not "nerfed into the ground".

You say that as if triggering those Endurance effects isn't still massively more demanding than just getting M1'd. The reason MFT is so strong in its current state is precisely because it's virtually always live. It's certainly not the 1% difference that's keeping Dark Theory in the trash. And there's a reason Hope was a permanent 7% for a full year before anyone ever uttered a complaint about it.

A 3% bonus only earned after triggering a specific game state is niche and completely removes the entire reason the perk was meta in the first place. Yes, it is nerfed into the ground.

  • This topic entirely depends on what it is that's being discussed, though. The community makes knee-jerk reactions all the time without testing, and they make silly knee-jerk conclusions after testing too. And yet some things don't need to be tested to form an opinion on.

The Trickster update involves a lot of moving parts on a killer that's already extremely dependent on the map. Without seeing anything in action it's impossible to know what will and won't be a good change.

The MFT change doesn't need involve anything special. It's plain as day the perk has been nerfed into the ground.

  • Absolutely right, OP.

Also, as far as DH, MFT and DH already have great synergy on live. I'm not sure why anyone would think differently, but the fact that you now need DH or another perk to make MFT live is nothing but a massive nef.

And yeah, of course you can get hit while you have the Endurance protection from the perk itself, but surely no one here is arguing that going from 'always active' to 'active only if hit when...' isn't a huge difference on its own?

Two sides to every match, so as long as killers get anti snowball, as well!

Killers have had their anti-snowball mechanic since 2017.

  • What's the bug here?

Scratched Mirror isn't built for chasing. The entire point of the addon is ambushing; something has gone wrong if you're stuck trying to chase Survivors at a strong loop.

Even so, the only way you genuinely couldn't have caught up to them would be if the gates were powered and they had Hope (discounting any of the garbage obscure Haste perks you didn't mention). Survivors with MFT are not faster than Scratched Mirror (103% vs. 105). Survivors with Hope have been faster than Scratched Mirror since 2016. This isn't a bug; the addon deliberately sacrifices speed for the aura-reading capability. It's not a foolproof bargain.

  • Given Hux's nature, a Cursed Cats Hux would imply he's murdered/assimilated a whole lot of kitties, and I don't really like the idea of that. D:

  • They're not.

Sadly, BHVR agrees with you for the most part.

Yeah, I have no interest in linking my account OR creating a Twitch account just for this, so I'll pass...

That said, you really shouldn't use the word "exclusive" around here, knowing this FOMO-obsessed community. I guess there might be unique charms, but there's not going to be any exclusive cosmetics from this.

    This aged well...

Looks like a weapon for Hag and a shirt for Elodie will be exclusive to the drops. :(

  • I can imagine, but the OP wasn't very specifc. Everything they mentioned describes event cosmetic just as much as store ones, and we haven't had any limited-time store cosmetic have come out in a while. I figured they were talking about the upcoming Halloween event rather than getting a head start of beating this dead horse about cosmetics that haven't even been revealed yet.

  • I'm so tired of this FOMO nonsense. How dare BHVR allow us to earn cosmetics just for playing their game? Like they've been doing since 2018? Just like any other online, healthy, actively-updated games these days?

    Enough already.

  • Yeah, I have no interest in linking my account OR creating a Twitch account just for this, so I'll pass...

That said, you really shouldn't use the word "exclusive" around here, knowing this FOMO-obsessed community. I guess there might be unique charms, but there's not going to be any exclusive cosmetics from this.

  • Personally, I'm underwhelmed because the Survivor outfits in the preview look terrible. Tacky. It's been a while since there's been a really good rift, actually.

  • I've seen the Ghostface Viper mask there as well, and maybe some other DBD-related item too? I guess they could do way more when it comes to masks, at least.

  • I wouldn't really call this streak OP has been on the past few days 'the truth'. Wouldn't be sure that that's what he was banned for either.

  • Eh, yes and no.

Yes, there are times when it basically makes playing the game a job. Right now I''m at Tier 60 or so in the Rift. Adding up the challenges I haven't redeemed yet, I've essentially finished the Rift already, so now I'm just trying to grind over these next two weeks so that I can get as far into the Deep Rift as possible. It really isn't enjoyable at all, and the worst part is I'm not crazy about any of the cosmetic rewards either. But the completionist in me says I might as well finish it now that I've come this far. I'm at the point where it's so boringly tedious that I'm definitely dropping the game completely when it closes. I would say 'until the next Rift' but I'm so burnt out with this one that I'm actually not sure I will try to complete the next one.

On the other hand, it's nice to have something to do. Even though I'm so thoroughly bored with the game as it is, I wouldn't have any reason to play at this point if the Rifts weren't a thing. Nowadays, PTBs are pretty much the only time I genuinely enjoy playing, so outside of those I'm happy that Tomes offer some kind of incentive to stick around.

  • Oh no, do not look too carefully at the Survivor descriptions on that menu if inconsistencies trigger you. You'll go mad.

  • Well, from a quick glance at the individual parts, the top of the pants go slightly further up on her torso than the standard. Any deviation like that tends to make the whole set linked.

i mean for me its not the worst i guess. I got everyone on both sides p3 so the only thing i need to grind for is non-teachables. So if its intended i could maybe eventually have all perks in the game level 3 instantly.

Eh, in the long run I'd rather buy them manually. You can force the Entity to start eating nodes slightly earlier and from a better angle to maximize quick level ups only as long as you have multiple perks available, so I personally prefer not having these ones unlocked. There are better things to spend shards on, imo.

  • Hopefully this is a bug and not some horrific new design choice. It was hard to imagine the Shrine getting any worse, but this would do it. Still, it's been an interesting couple of weeks for the Shrine. First, we finally get Soul Guard for the first time in over three years, and now we're getting non-teachables.

  • Honestly it's hard not to think that BHVR wanted Xeno to be kind of a mess. PTB Xeno wasn't so broken, but then they were given a laundry list of buffs on release for some reason. How could they not have known what they were doing?

  • Oh good, so soon it might be safe to put my points into my mains again. Better late than never.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

If you had played at any point where the penalties were off, you'd understand why they're a thing

    THIS.

It's truly baffling to me that anyone could see what the game is like when DC penalties have been turned off and then in good faith ask for them to be turned off forever.

  • Sorry, your constant dodging doesn't stop you from playing against P100s survivors. It justs stops survivors with P100s from playing their P100 characters.

  • I'm with you, OP. The recent descriptions are laughably lazy. Honestly, I laughed when I saw the description for Haddie's new head piece.

Pretty sad to see people acting like expecting even minimal effort in salesmanship is "nitpicking".
