If maps were all close in balance then the game will be much easier to balance by extension.
-
Is there anything your don't complain about? You should want to go against aura reading, that means the killer is probably playing for chases. If you don't want chases then just stop playing the game please, it's the only thing skillful on survivor side. Hiding is just as boring as killers playing 3 gens eruption builds.

Killers aren't too strong, definitively not.
I'm not sure how to say this but, 300 hours is not exactly a lot. Usually, one is considered out of the beginners group around 500 hours, and decent around 1000 hours.
The real issue is mixing different skill levels together (both killers and each individual survivor).
When I play against individually strong solos, they know how to act and be a PITA.
When I play with individually strong teammates, we "understand" each-other and we know what to do.
I consider myself an average survivor though, and I have more than 3000 hours in the game.
People bring up hours in this game way too much. If you have talent then you can be better than 99% of the player base in 1k hours in whichever role you are maining. This is not to spite you unparticular or in any way but this game is really not that complex.

I'm so so sorry.

Remember when they said they would monitor and make consistent changes to the meta? I do. Now it's been 7 months.

When i have a blight lethal rush challenges I tend to use the brown addon which auto points him at the nearest surv when he hits a wall. I can't remember the name but makes ituch easier to hit a surv. It's a crutch add on but i play on console so snap turn hits are much harder with blight on a controller vs with a mouse.
DO NOT RUN THIS ADD-ON ^. It's probably the worst add-on in the game and will turn you even when the survivor is on the other side of an object or window.
@Unimatrix00 said:
Thanks for the suggestions! I run the two brown addons, one showing where you will hit and the other turning the killer towards the nearest survivor.

They have not released a good map since I started playing the game over a year and a half ago lol.

Sounds like a not playing blight issue. They can hold w and pre throw but those pallets will be gone before they know it. You either loop me or die, that is why blight is the peak of this game.

Except he is no where near what you see from the survivors at soft cap. It's like saying killer pre 6.1 wasn't in need of buffs because the best players were winning games as killers. It simply is not indicative of the game state.
I take "not that bad" as a small negative with "fine" being neutral. Hey, how bad is this injury? It's not that bad. I take that as minor problem.
Eruption doesn't have counterplay for soloq. If the killer kicks gen and leave I either tap and find another gen, gen tap(LOL), or hope a survivor doesn't go down before I complete the gen. Unless you are saying that the counterplay is LOL just don't go down 4Head. If i physically see the survivor ion chase you can come off at moment you think they might go down but i don't find that to be common.
It's all about game delay. I don't see how it is relevant if it is regression or game delay, as both slow down the game. Thana is also game delay not regression.
Well the problem with OTR is killers can bypass it unless survivors use reassurance. The way you fix that is most likely reverting OTR and bringing back DS. If it aint broke don't fix it
You can't camp or tunnel a full team with OTR and Reassurance. The survivor never gets off the hook and you waste time proxy camping. If you leave they'll save and OTR protects from the tunnel. If you're really good you also bring For the people and insta heal the injured survivor to ensure the killer will lose if they try to tunnel. You can force the killer to spread hooks compared to soloq where you are kinda free to remove players without issue. OTR is also terrible game design perk as it informs the killer if you have it or not. I recall they made the obsession thing always happen after the ds nerf since players stopped using it for a period and killer would tunnel everyone when they knew it wasn't in play.
Camping and tunnel wasn't common once bbq was added and face camping was removed. I want to say from 2018-2021 there was very little of it. 2017 also still had 30 pallet maps and pallet vacuum. I would say 2017 was the worst year for dbd. The game legit almost died back then. Pretty sure that was also the time a dev told players to go play other games if they weren't happy with the state of the game.
Devs want killers to have a 60% kill rate.
3 genning and camping/tunneling players out. Why would you 3 gen off the rip? You chase the first player and try to 3 gen with the hook. You now get pressure since the survivors need to save while you are defending a 3 gen at the same time. And I see camping all the time. If a killer falls behind they camp often. Sure if they control the game they won't do it much but when they fall behind I see it quite a lot.
"Except he is no where near what you see from the survivors at soft cap. It's like saying killer pre 6.1 wasn't in need of buffs because the best players were winning games as killers. It simply is not indicative of the game state."
Dog do you realize 90% of the players in this game are terrible? 9% are good and 1% maybe can be considered amazing. Nah not even 1%
-
What region, what time?
I play at 12AM-4AM on NA so that I get better survivors to play against. I can't say they are much better but they stack busted items and map offerings to compensate. Went against a team that's watched too much skermz or something last night, all the parts of a "bully squad" without the skill. Except the Steve, he was semi-competent.
-
It's really just spawns. 4 man split off the rip is a death sentence for most of the killers in the game.
-
I swear people dc vs me in very winnable positions more often than losing games. All I can think is they alt+f4d and are going to bed.
-
@Alcuin said:
- As far as maps being the reason Killers tunnel and camp, that was said prior about gens speed. 6.1 happened and camping and tunneling is as bad as ever. Killers will still tunnel because half of them want lame win streaks and tunneling is the easy road to take.
- Get rid of maps and really see how the only skillful role in this game at that point is Survivor. And the game is not going to be beginner friendly at all; you're not going to get new players. I know people who started but don't stay around because it's too hard and too sweaty. Take maps away from Survivors, you're only going to get SWF.
- Maps are something that should favor Survivors as long as full regression builds are still part of the game and tunneling and camping is so easy to do. Survivors need something for balance besides Discord.
Full regression, tunneling and maps are all boring and unskilled though. I feel you underestimate how many heavily survivor sided maps there are though. Probably like 8-10.

but some other maps also have dead zones , idk how they plan to fix that too....have you ever got a BAD rng on red forest / autohaven / and even worse shelter woods .. is pretty wild .....for killer , for survivors if someone wasted the only pallet at one side of the map that area becomes useless and even worst if there is gen there .... like really HOW bhvr didnt even add the powerful Z walls to the corner of the map atleast soo we can exceally play the game instead of:
*I am dead just because there is no pallet or windows in this 28 meter area* moment
Bro whenever they added the new tiles they ruined auto haven. Pallets fail to spawn and that terrible new tile exists. I know for a fact that wretched shop has just failed to spawn any pallets around main building for a couple months now. I always considered auto haven and MacMillan the most overall balanced realms until then.
-
On a scale to 1-10 I would put dbd at a 6.5-7 in terms of difficulty to learn. League would probably be a 8.5.

Hyperbole noted.
That's what makes killer sting less in my opinion. You can pretty much always secure 1 kill, so losses as killer are less unilateral and discouraging than survivor losses (especially as solo if you can't even be like "well at least you got out !" to a friend)
In general yes. But against a 10 hour killer even I could run them at least 3 gens.

Map RNG, perks/add-ons, teammate competency, if pallets are still up… at the very least the killer can bloodlust that survivor down. And even if they’re on a map like Coldwind, that alone isn’t enough to guarantee your hypothetical Wraith can’t tunnel their object of obsession out.
Bro, a 10 hour killer probably doesn't have good add-ons and doesn't know what bloodlust is. Plus most tiles on coldwind are so safe blood lust is irrelevant. You also mentioned Ayrun who I have seen run killers the entire game who have probably well over a 100 hours.
-
@Ayodam said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3322504#Comment_3322504
I mean if you have that many hours but play solo queue you could very easily die/lose even if you play seriously. It’s happened to some amazing survivors several times on stream (Ayrun, Otz, Naymeti, etc). A 10 hour killer can tunnel and camp a 10,000 hour survivor and win over that survivor because survivors cannot win a 1v1 with killers.
I'm not sure how a 10 hour wraith is going to get a hit on a 10k hour survivor unless the survivor lets them. The only way they are going down is if map rng is that bad. You put that survivor on any cold wind map and they will run that killer until the game is over easily.
-
Getting a merciless on blight nearly caps the bp in each category. I just have to play normally lol.

If you mean behavior in game like "You need to wait out every attack because they MIGHT have Dead Hard even though it may not even exist in this game", then yes, that sort of thing needs to die.
Killers: DH, DS, OTR/BKBT/UB
Survivors: Eruption, Pain res/dms (I guess that's all the meta killer perks that I can think of right now that change behavior)

@WesCravenFan said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3322153#Comment_3322153
Exactly how often do you think we need the perk balance overhauled?
2 months. I am not saying all meta has to be changed. I am saying things like Nurse and pretty much all of the old survivor meta should be nerfed decently just for the fact that it's been 6 years they have been at the top. But like I said I come from league(which is infinitely harder to balance than dbd) and nothing stays at the top for more than a year, but those are rarity's. But I don't think it's any different in this game. People tend to run meta at all ranks because they naturally want to win, but when it's the same for so long the game gets stale. I think people on both sides getting conditioned by perks due to how long they stay so impactful is wack.
-
@WesCravenFan said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3322114#Comment_3322114
So why is six months a big deal?
?
So because they have been really slow in the past, that means it's reasonable for them to take over 6 months every single time to do a real perk balance patch? Especially when half the perks are just going to receive number changes. Think about it like this: if you have two people dedicating all their time to coming up with changes and two people implementing them into a in house test build it literally cannot take 6 months to rework 10 perks and change 10 others at the very least. Mind you bhvr has expanded quite a bit.

Do you have any idea how long it took for them to take the distance off of Dead Hard? Or take down the 100% on Iron Will?
I do. That's the issue.
-
@WesCravenFan said:
There will always be a META.
There always be a flavor of the week/month/year selections in any game. Especially a live service game.
Not for this extended amount of time though. 2 Months and they are taking their sweet time, 6 months and they are just being just being lazy. A year or more and they are actively going out of their way to not change the meta. There is a reason league has been and continues to be the biggest game in the world and it's due to their two week patch cycle.
-
IMO. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed, BUT. If something meta for literally 5 years it should be shoved out of the meta, it's what I think about nurse as well. If you look at meta in other games, that's how it works. But in dbd It's a rarity.

Plenty of games actually do though, but Id love to hear your examples.
Any multiplayer pvp game has to have penalty for leaving the match in any way(afk,dc, in dbds case suicide on hook). If they don't people actively ruin the game. So a few examples: LoL, OW, Apex. What do these games have in common? Someone leaving/giving up will almost 100% make that team lose and those players will get punished heavily and quickly for repeated actions of any of these things.

Yeah it is. I get on dbd to play 2 games at night and the game is ruined because a survivor felt they didn't want to play it out. No other game allows for this terrible behavior. I am a killer main, winning doesn't matter to me it's having fun chases where the game has any chance of going either way. When someone DC's I feel like I am doing work while the person at fault is in queue to ruin the next game.

you know, blight isn't the only killer in the game. Maybe not common for you, but i found a lot of people that timed well dead hard... TOO MUCH WELL, even if i bait it (using your m2 to make a "fake hit" like the wraith or simply moving your camera to gave the impression of a lunge attack or waiting behind them for half hour)
I said I am a Blight main only because no other killer can bait out dh as well as him. I get that auto DH is still around it's just much much less common.

Awwwww. Gwandpaw is angwy.
Think about this Gwamps: YOU KNOW what makes players quit. I’ll spell it out anyway: OP builds, cheap killer play, bad teammates. This is probably 80% of the reason for quits. I’ll say the other 20% is being petulant because they got found early or didn’t like the map or didnt want to face their 5th Wesker in a row… So about that 80%, and getting back to the fact that YOU KNOW this is why players quit… if killers want to minimize quits:
- Stop loading into games with OPAF builds (Nurse, Blight, your “magic build” on other killers where you run your map and the best perks and addons that make you damn near invincible)
- Stop running lethal pursuer with an extreme mobility killer that downs someone in seconds and then steamrolls with BBQ or whatever
- Stop camping and tunnelling and ruining peoples games because you want to be as oppressive as possible vs a team that is likely a bunch of mismatched solos already at a disadvantage.
Solo survivors are sick of being reamed sideways because killer players are getting spoon fed wins. How easy is it to find survivors now? Every killer has access to like 100 aura perks and addons. How many killers have extreme mobility? How many have “magic builds” where they’re pretty much guaranteed a win? Killers have 100 ways to 1 hit now and slow down gens and find survivors, often simultaneously with one perk doing multiple things. Meanwhile any concept of survivor stealth is GONE. It’s all just about running and trying to get gens done fast which is damn near impossible with OP extreme mobility killers running aura perks and gen slow downs vs a ragtag team of mismatched survivors.
Solo survivors play as one post above described: they join hoping for a fun game. But when faced with OP BS and/or horrible teammates they often leave and move on to try and find a fairer match. So take some responsibility and play fair. BHVR isn’t going to do anything to help the situation so try looking at how YOU contribute and change THAT and see what happens.
Guys audiophile commented, Defnitely read it!! It will really be unbiased and worth your time!!!!

personally i don't have problems with eruption since it can be countered in more ways somehow if you are experienced enough (fogwise, emphaty, aftercare, kindred, etc etc), but dead hard it's another thing, especially when there are so many auto dead hard users around... as far as i know the only killers that can counter dead hard are deathslinger and legion (not completely in the 2nd case, but at least you can deny it's use in a normal chase where the survivor is still healthy thanks to FF)
Auto DH isn't common anymore. It was before the mass ban wave and before. But as A blight main It's pretty obvious when they have auto dh as blight baits dh better than any other killer in the game.

Nah. That's like saying killers should be able to see SWFs. Neither will ever happen.

Ahahaha yeah. Christmas Eve, on Demo. With a chill build and a flan - go in expecting a fun game but get a crazy genrushing comp team that absolutely slaughters me and cusses me out in postgame.
So I fire up my Hag, and run into a bunny rabbit team next who cuss me out for being sweaty.
This game...I swear, I just can't sometimes.
Comp teams are rare. But I have never gone against one who isn't salty and cussing me out in end game regardless of the outcome. Always running the sweatiest builds and will still flame me for getting a 2k with no add-ons on cowshed as blight. I also typically find they are just really efficient not necessarily cracked in chase.

I do think it plays a part.
Content creators just have a lot of influence on their viewers and their opinions, whether they realize it or not.
I wouldn't even say Otz is that much of a perfect representation of the community (or is he?). For all his wholesome vibes, the guy has a quite the double standards at times. Anything he can't handle with 0 perks and addons equipped is disgusting. Anytime he faces a tunneler as survivor, it's "such a shame to play [killer] and camp & tunnel" yet when he's playing killer, that's... exactly what he's doing ?
But yeah, too much of DbD content creation right now is focused on toxicity because unfortunately that's what makes the most views I guess. That and all the fearmongering around "toxic ttv is so toxic ! clic to know why !"... And all the coy "OMG this build makes me feel so bad for the other side lol, please don't use it <3"
I've kind of drifted away from watching DbD content creators at the moment, except for lore retelling.
Otz is generally a really good guy and probably at the upper end of content creators for dbd in terms of being unbiased. He definitely has his double standards though. The big thing for me is every time he talks about blight he generally doesn't know what he is talking about, which really disappoints me as he is the biggest source of info in this games community.
-
Nah. Ruin was only good on mobility killers who could make use of it in the first couple min before it got popped. Even then I main blight, and I stopped running it pretty quick. Hex perks are just bad design at the core at this point, devour is the only one powerful enough to justify it and you have to run an entire build around it to make it work. If I run slow down it will always be pain res, kicking gens is boring as you said.

Well yeah it’s a game we paid for, not our job. There is no contract forcing us to stay in the match. I don’t know why people don’t understand that they’re not entitled to having everyone play match to the end. If you behave like crap (camping or tunneling), people will avoid you just like in real life.
There’s also the problem of matchmaking giving you bad teammates against a good killer which is hopeless from the start so I’d rather go next
I have played lots of online pvp games over the years. This is the only one that lets a single player ruin the game without punishment. People always bring up camping in tunneling like that is the cause for it even half the time lmao. I play survivor too, I know about the bots aimlessly walking around not playing the game. When my bot lane goes 2 and 14 in 18 min I don't get to just leave the game, I have to play it out. When I die for the first time in OW I don't get to just alt+f4.
Just because you paid for the game doesn't mean you can repeatedly ruin other players experiences without any expense on your part. That's a single player mindset. It really is entitled.
-
Every one of these posts just disappoints me. It just shows me how many players actually think it's ok to have the ability to leave a match you queued up for at anytime without any punishment.

I think there is a separate argument to be had between whether or not Survivors should be allowed to suicide on floor and if Killers should be allowed to slug for the 4K.
I do think there is literally nothing wrong with slugging. That implies the Killer is REQUIRED to pick you up.
But I also think if you want a "LOSE THE WILL TO LIVE" button that should be permitted as well, as long as it counted as a full kill/sacrifice and it cannot be used to screw Killers out of points/challenges/adepts.

I'm fine with that get your kill you won you deserve it I just don't want to be bleed out for 4 minutes
Shouldn't be before 2 min that the button to give up appears. Before 2 min there are scenarios where survivors can come back after a long chain of events. Anything that could possibly mess up the end game is very finicky, especially when that is the best part of the game at times. For example if I am going against a 3 man swf with one solo and I am having the godlike of experience of everyone gets out or no one does, it would be ashame if the solo threw because they got board in such a cluch scenario. 2 min is enough to make sure that people are being slugged to death on purpose. It's why the idea of base kit UB was a heinous act in itself for me.
-
Compromise to this meta. Play blight and don't kick gens. It was a bit at first, but there's no going back. Even for the kick gens give aura reading perk which is quite tempting. Game is way more enjoyable when you aren't trying to protect gens directly.

Nah, I literally made a post about this a couple days ago. Blight is the best killer at baiting dh if he has more than one rush left when the dh would take place. The counterplay Blight has against dh is the exact same except now alch ring counters dh if the blight has it.
