At worst, you never get slugged during a match and Exponential does literally nothing. So, F-tier at worst.

Not only that but you need to go down in the boon’s radius and hope the killer doesn’t hear it & snuff it. CoH is the only boon that’s really good. Shadowstep is OK depending on map RNG. The rest stink.
Unbreakable is S tier for a reason, it's about redundancy. I have seen quite a lot of games where snuffing the boon will = everyone getting out instead of a 2-4k. If anything it's a perk that shines in the end game, it doesn't find all that much value mid match. The range doesn't matter when the team is actively playing around it.

I don't think they are a failed concepts. I assume we will still have more perks like those to come. For example we had 5 chapters between Hex: Haunted Grounds and retribution.
But, boons need some reworking, with CoH being the only boon people will use, but being so strong that all the other boons are suffering because of boons limitations.
If CoH were to be gutted, like completely unusable, then boons will basically be a dead mechanic. They need to be looked at.
People downplay exponential so much, it's A tier at worst.

I don't understand why people treat survivors waiting at the exit gates as some kind of impenetrable barrier.
They're not nice, but you don't have to just wait there. You can push them out at any time. You just don't want to. And because you won't, you.. force people to wait out timers they can't speed up.
I don't get it.
It's the only thing in game a survivor can do that is 100% toxic, as they have already won the game.

Recently? I'm thankful for Wesker. Best designed killer since Blight. First killer in a long time that I'm actually sitting down and trying to grind the various techs on.
I'm not sure exactly what all of his techs are, but his mimic hug tech seems way harder to pull off. I sadly am doubtful they will come up with a better designed killer for quite a few chapters.

DbD and BHVR get a lot of hate in general, but the devs do a lot of good things. What good things are you happy about for the game? Anything from changes recently to changes from five years ago.
For me:
- Mori rework (can't instantly kill survivors on first down anymore)
- Dead Hard nerf
- Nurse lost her range and recharge add-ons
- Iron Will nerf (this perk single-handedly made the game unbearable for me)
- Skull Merchant changes
- Deathslinger is finally meta-friendly for the first time since his release
- NOED nerf
- Legion buff
- Eruption nerf (a thousand times, thank God)
- Wraith buff
- Wesker existing
- The many map reworks (uh, the good ones I mean)
- Huge variety in viable perks for both killer and survivor
- Walking back on the 3D screams, bringing them back to 2D
- All the wonderful memories I've made and the friendships I've built through this game <3
What about y'all? What are some things you are thankful that got changed or added?
I'm thankful for Blight.
-
No order on any of these. Spirits music drives me crazy, otherwise she would be b tier. Billy is b because his animations are just the worst, he's just so visually clunky. Demo's screams get irritating or he would be higher.
Blight is Blight.

its really that hard to read before repplying? when did i say i cant loop a blight? i said he isnt fun in the same way is not fun to loop an artist or a Spirit or a Nurse, u can more or less dpeending on wich map, addons, RNG, etc... does that mean is fun? no, but since u cant read. im done with this post. please dont repply, not gonna answer anyway.
You quite literally said all you can do is pre throw, which essentially means he has no real counterplay or skillful interactions. Which is discounting many skilled plays for survivors vs blight.

yeah sure thats literally why in comp i see good billys quite oftenly getting 4ks in gas heaven and wreckerds yards but whatever suits your narrative pal.
and im quite good as survivor not gonna lie, i didnt say i cant play against him (again reading comprehension problems) i said he is not fun to play against not that is impossible, he never was fun especially when he brngs the dumb addons he always brings to the game that i dont even understand why they werent nerfed yet after years of being that dumb.
Excluding his dumb add-ons you simply mean to say you don't intend to improve. Blight has the no skill ceiling and allows survivors to express the most skill, hating him and not specifically his 2-3 problematic add-ons means you have no intention of improving. That's fine in of itself, but that also means you have no real right to comment on these things.
Do you know all of the collision in the game? Have you ever pluto'd a blight? Have you played the killer extensively enough to understand the only killer with depth to him in this entire game? Everything you have said in this thread is just "You can only throw pallets" when in reality everything in the map can be both good for him and used against him. 5k hours in this game means nothing to me, I can count on one hand the amount of survivors I would consider amazing in chase. I've versed comp teams and mained a few other killers.
Also, Billys power may as well be a nerfed c33 that happens to insta down in a large dead zone. LOL.
-
The peak of toxicity of dbd for me is playing against comp teams. The supposed best survivors in the game always blaming their misplays on anything else has pushed me away from dbd just a bit. Even if none of them are the .1% god loopers I am looking for, they are great teams. Only for the end game chat to be follow up with how double speed blight with no gen regression carried me vs them on rotten fields, while they were running disgustingly meta builds. People over rate themselves in this game to extent I deem unacceptable. No game has every upset from the players including "top mmr" players being anything but amazing. There's probably 100 players who can play well vs blight, everyone else is satisfied with being able to loop a legion for 4 min. I've played league for 10 years and have probably never been better than grandmaster, on the flip side dbd is a cake walk filled with egotistical players who can never improve due to their mentality.
PS: Everyone who gives up on hook early is an adc main. If you know you know.

Isn't the knight in a pretty good spot now?
Yeah, I am sure the killer advertised as a skillful micro manage machine that's actually just a zoner is in a good spot now game health wise. Oh wait, I just described the last 2 killers. For the same reason people hate the gen kick meta, people hate dh. Regardless of strength it's just boring/cringe to play around. Imagine going from wesker to knight interactivity wise, killer design -100.
-
If you are actually good at survivor the only thing holding you down is Randoms. People don't care if they throw for a glyph. People are still terrible after 2k hours. Is solo queue bad? Yes. Is it because of balance towards killers or is it terrible players throwing the game? Both from killer and survivor PoV it's most definitely terrible players weighing down the semi-competent survivors.

That is an amazing question.
In order to accept statistics we need a little more analysis from the source.
I mean, right now I'm wondering what high MMR means, is it the average of the survivors MMR? like three have 4k MMR one has 0 and MMR used for the stats is 3k, which would or would not mean top 5 MMR?
Too many questions, too many anecdotal reports that dissent from the show numbers.
There are reason penuts(I know that's spelled wrong) said take it with a large a grain of salt. Even if I am a top 5% killer player I doubt I go against a full top 5% team more than 1 in 10 games. Queue times would likely be too long if that was the case.

Unfortunately, these ARE the "high MMR" Kill Rates.
I mean how games in these stats were top 5% killer vs 4 top 5% survivors though? Probably not very many. Other than 4-man swfs the chance matchmaking actually grabs 4 top 5% survivors cannot be very high.

Fun to use? Sure I 100% agree with that
Fun to go against? Not so much. Not speaking personally, many people dislike it for various reasons. It doesn't bother me that much in my games
At least you acknowledge that it is more then simply "oh its just for fun and to show off!!!" which is more then a lot of other blight mains who try to defend it do. Just admit that it's really good once you can pull it off and you do it because it's strong instead of trying to act like it's not yk?
Good response, I appreciate that.
I try to be unbiased about things I know a lot about, took a lot of league for that to happen. I think most people don't like it because they don't really know what's happening when a blight does it. But when it comes to blight, not know the killer extensively makes it very hard to play against both the hug tech and normally. 95% of survivors don't know what a pluto is or how to use collision against blight in the first place. I pretty positive when most people refer to the hug tech being op, they are the type of people to sit on the other side of a car loop and watch as the blight spends 3 seconds sliding over to them.
I can understand not wanting to put in the effort to learn a killer in such depth even when most survivor players will never play him in the first place. But imo blight is definitively the highest skill cap killer and allows survivors to show the most skill as well (excluding things like c33 and alch ring), this game severely lacks in interactions where both parties can actively express their skill at the same time.
Again it's definitely strong but it's just another layer of interactivity for both parties.
-
@Brokenbones said:
Say it with me everyone
"Bump logic stronger..."
"It's just to show off and be flashy..."
"Something something fighting games bugs into features"
The only 3 arguments I ever see when people defend hug tech
That being said no people shouldn't be banned for it. Devs consider it a bug and not an exploit. If it was an exploit I imagine it'd have been fixed by now. Jflick was an exploit because it exploited an oversight with DPI and turn rates being uncapped. Something like that
How about this. It's strong at mitigating rushes but it's fun to use and to play against. In most scenarios, bump logic is stronger. That's not to say there aren't tiles where the hug tech is better simply because of the tile itself or what collision is lacking around the tile, but those are few in comparison to normal blight. So what's the real point in removing it other than the mere fact it wasn't an intended feature? If it gets removed blight simply becomes less interactive for both sides.

CoH is guaranteed to be in someone's loadout for the most part. Why stack healing perks when you can run something more useful? I may run well make it but that is for efficiency regardless of CoH.

Sure. Like when he made custom games KYF where people allowed to play had to be prestige 100 (and it was way closer to remake of prestiges - so it meant those people play way too much). How is it possible, that Ayrun was able to spin that Oni? Clearly it had to be beginner player /s
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3371712#Comment_3371712
I specifically mentioned limited FOV helps against Blight and Oni - but it sure helps also against spirit, nurse and wesker (just not as much). Are you arguing those are weaker killers? Because it is clearly easier to "hide" from killer that zooms better then from killer that is regular slow M1 killer. So the exact opposite is true - it nerfs strongest killers the most
I am a blight main, my knowledge on blight far surprises 99% of people in this game easily especially on blight. If I know you are wiggling/spinning, all I have to do is time properly. Oni is the exact same as well. Regardless of how well you spin or wiggle if I react correct with my hitbox near yours I will hit you no matter what. Your statement is based on gameplay of a challenger smurf in gold mmr XD. Ayrun is god tier survivor walking over killer's who trip over their own shoes.
-
@Gandor said:
Hmm. Interesting. Why is it then blights and oni's that use the perk the most? If I have conditions like this then I don't want to pick killer with highest mobility (aka those that can be spun easiest)?
Admit it. You don't want to be spun or otherwise outplayed.
I can do the same - the game feels really bad when part of my monitor has black areas as survivor. Allow me to change my FOV. I promise it's not meant for me to look above loops to dodge killers better....
Because blight is disgusting to play without shadowborne once you equip it even once. If you are going against a good blight you may wiggle or spin him once but after regardless of fov it won't work.

you're unwilling to accept that a good blight can only be stopped by pallets (or very, very bad maps), there is no counterplay against a good blight once you run out of pallets.
The fact that you think that means you have never really looked much into the character much. He has the most amount of counter play in the game, not to say any counter play is available at a given time

I don't see them making threads saying: "This map is way too good for blight and Wesker, please rework it"
That's just whataboutism though. I could also say I don't see survivor players complain about fractured and coldwind in general.

Survivors' game play require well grounded at all aspect, which required Killers for it: making 2 chases, do a Gen, do 2 hooks, make a few healing. Then for me, dying doesnt matter.
- Camping leave survivors a single chase then die. For the other survivor only do Gens and escape.
- Tunneling leave survivors 3 chases thats not being healthy.
- And now 3 Gens leave survivors without chase.
Killer gameplay by doing their main objective - killing. Already making well grounded gameplay: chasing, hitting, hooking then repeat until getting kills. So on their perspective, any type of gameplay isnt really matter to them.
Currently, Killers making 3 hooks can already complete the game balance the Devs giving: 60% kill rate. I do want Devs to balance the game around 6-10 hooks for 60% kill rate. But it will not stop Killers from making 4 hooks 4 kill, which survivors dont have well grounded game play.
It's actually quite funny. I don't get dc's very often and don't get hate in the end game chat other than perceived tunneling on rare occasions and every time I vs a comp team. I only play Blight.
Survivors would rather go against alch ring blight over a camping/tunneling clown. I really don't run alchring often but even as an objectively OP add-on recognized by most the player base I still don't get hate in the end game chat.
I don't really do it much anymore but survivors really don't care about slugging as much as the forums seem to imply, I have literally never gotten hate for slugging on any killer at least in my memory.
@Devilishly_Rowdy said:
Firstly survivors complain about camping and tunneling and get basekit perks for it. Then about slugging and make the devs consider a basekit Unbreakable. Then gen regression (which the killer earns by downing and hooking survivors), and a lot of good gen regression perks get nerfed. Now the new complaints are about 3 genning. What do you want the killer to do lol? Not use any strategy what so ever and mindless chase random survivors for hooks and lose? The excuse is "30 min games aren't fun" but guess what, you aren't entitled to 10 min matches, or the killer making the match more fun and easy for you. And the worst part is, the 3 gen rage quits will be rewarded by some killer nerfs, again.
P.S Yes it's an "us vs. them" post. Anything else you notice other than that Sherlock?
So my offer to all of these people on the forum who struggle so much with killer. Play blight, you will never reach his skill ceiling ever. You can outplay survivors and they can outplay you. The game becomes actually really skillful in a game where it's blight vs survivors who know how to play against blight. On all of these m1 killers the games can be left up to the map and the survivors, you can make optimal choices but your decision making is less meaningful and limited. Just don't use c33 and actually have interactive gameplay in this game ridden with rng and unskillful players.
Other than some form of aesthetic you resonate with there is no killer that can beat blight in anyway. Play blight increase your skill level and only go down in power level in terms of builds so that you can keep increasing in skill, if you want to go play Meyers and role play you can't be mad if you lose. I used to be in the boat of buffing killers up to the current A tier but so many killers would be atrocious to play against if they were actually buffed up to that level. Map rng most definitely needs to be more fair for both sides(probably killer more than survivor) but that's just due to the outdated design philosophy bhvr has retained.
What's the point in tunneling someone if you don't get to see their full potential in chase? What's the point of camping when you barely get to express skill at all? What's the point in 3-genning outside of the few 3-gen killers if you don't get to do anything but play a boring battle of attrition? Both as survivor and killer I can't imagine more boring gameplay regarding 3-gens at this point in time.
-
@VoidOfMe said:

Nah, then every map would be the same, same layout, same props, same distance for hooks, same amount of pallets, same amount of windows, same generator placement and distance. That would make every map good for blight like you want. I don't see these blight mains complaining about maps that blight thrives over survivors. Or do you think there aren't maps where blight has advantages over survivors?
Isn't that just a really biased comment or am I wrong?
-
@Anti051 said:
Could turn it into a ticket-based system instead of a three strikes system. Similar to respawn tickets in another asymmetrical game called 'Depth.'
Then tunneling wouldn't matter since you could get hooked again and again and nobody would start actually dying until hook tickets run out.
No idea if programming something like that is possible at this point.
I think a respawn mechanic could work. Each person still gets 3 lives(we all know there are too many inters/trolls to make lives shared) and they respawn after a set amount of time. Might be hard to balance that aswell though.

Yes it does. When you’re the one getting tunneled out at 5 gens or face camped to death at 5 gens you don’t get to play the game.
Even if getting tunneled isn't that fun for most people, it's most definitely getting to play the game. You have full control of your character while getting tunneled. Face camping there is nothing you can do but pray your team helps you.

The thing is, you can't tell. you can time a hit completely randomly and they'll deadhard. It can happen 8 times in one game. It could be a normal person or a cheater. You'd never know. This is another reason it just shouldn't give another healthstate.
You can play blight and by the end of the match it's nearly guaranteed to know if they have auto dh or not.
-
The only thing that stresses me out on survivor is seeing a teammate doing nothing all match. I probably find killer more appealing because everything is 100% on my shoulders. I do enjoy improving at survivor but it's not worth it with so many survivors who don't care and every other killer not actually improving my chase because they leave me if I get 10m+ from their 3 gen.
-
@Akumakaji said:
the 3 gen defense has been a core strategy actually for years, its just that not many killers new about and/or employed it, even though it was talked about in basically every single "learn killer tutorial" video I ever watched. Its a bit akin to splitting up on gens: this was always the most effective way to play, yet prior to 6.1 most survivors didn't care as they could do pretty well without. 6.1 forced them to split up, and now it's basically the expected way of doing things.
This is the other side of the gameplay medal: over the years, change in the meta and gameplay have ironed out imperfections and inefficiencies on both sides play book and now even casuals can play like a pro from a couple years back.
We can't put the genie back in the bottle and make players unlearn tactics, but BHVR could do a big health update and try to factory zero a couple of developments, by doing some bold and sweeping changed to the games formula.
I mained hag 2 weeks after I started playing dbd, one guide and I already knew to set up a web around 3-4gens. I used it when I went to other killers as well but it didn't work near as well obviously. Every single killer can 3-gen very effectively with the gen kick perks.

A lot of the killers in the game are just weak due to the design of their kit. If you make trickster or clown A tier somehow they are going to be absolutely awful to play against. It has to be map design changes, anything else will just make way too many killers unfun to play against.

They've both already been nerfed heavily.
They've both been nerfed but continue to be unhealthy for the game. I have seen plenty of unhealthy things in video games. You simply cannot justify dh's continued presence in the meta after this many years. You cannot justify the anti fun gameplay of playing around dh every chase regardless of it's power level. You cannot justify 3 survivors resetting in 20 seconds because solos need a lantern to heal. I don't think dh is the giga sss tier perk people think it is on forums, in fact is functions like a slightly worse perk vs blight and m1 killers can counter it much better, but does that mean the perk should continue disrupting the flow of the game for majority of players? Is the dh mind game skillful for both sides? Potentially, but does it really have a place in this game?
I despised dh as a new player especially when it received it's god tier validation shortly after I really got into this game, I got bored of playing around the perks and not the players every game until 6.1.0. Then for a while is was funny to watch survivors dab before downing them for a couple months. Now it's back to the same tedious gameplay revolving around dh. You can argue dh isn't busted anymore but saying "it's been nerfed so it doesn't need any changes regardless of the most killer players hating the perk for it's entire existence" is a joke.
DH needs a feel rework and boons need real counter play so they can be balanced correctly.

As someone who has thousands of hours in each role, I can confidently say that the killer role is SO much better than it has ever been.
If you face an equally skilled solo queue team? You are favored to win.
If you face an equally skilled SWF? You have the potential to win if you play 'optimally'.
Unfortunately, a lot of killer players got so used to being absolutely carried by Eruption, which was an absolutely busted perk. It will take a little time for their MMR to be adjusted back to normal.
Sure, there are some things that need to be fixed. There shouldn't be 4 medkits or 4 toolboxes in a game. Period. Prove Thyself and similar perks shouldn't give such a big boost to generator speed.
But honestly, the players still complaining about killer being a 'weak role' need to be completely ignored.
I genuinely think when people say killer is a weak role they are referring to b tier and below killers. When they refer to Blight I just just start laughing.

I can't blame either side.
Looping/running for endless time is boring as hell. I thought DBD was originally about being sneaky? They've just moved so much away from stealth, and focused so much on just-- running?
Skull Merchant, imo, is the product of the game's inherently flawed DNA and them(the devs) thinking somehow that 3-Gen meta is a thing anyone wants to deal with? They could just introduce more in world mechanics aside from lockers, and pallets-- there's so much potential. TCSM is going to be a heavy hitter I think because of what they've talked about so far.
Are you saying looping isn't fun as survivor or it's not fun playing against survivors in chase.

I love to play Billy, but the devs actively discourage it with each new map they release or rework. I refuse to play him without map offerings. I've legit had sessions where I went RPD/Lerys/Garden of Joy/Badham on Billy. Not even worth the time.
All these new maps scattering hundreds of random props on the map for reasons unknown. I don't know how billys collision works, does he collide on the 1 meter tall trash on Borgo for example?
-
If I am not mistaken it was a purely visual update to the map so no collision should have been changed. The map really isn't that slippery overall. The walls have little collision on the outside except at the end just like coldwind. Only maps that are somewhat problematic due to lack of collision are borgo, swamp and yamaoka.
-
That kind of reminds me of this game back when I was new and a hag main. I dropped the last survivor who was a Jake 5 feet from the hatch, took a few steps back and alt tabbed. Tabbed back in like 30 seconds later and still didn't go in, I waited 15 seconds more while hitting the hatch and finally hooked him. I asked why he didn't take the hatch and he said I was going to close it in his face.

IMO a killer and a 4 man team fight for a 4 man out or a 4k is the most skillful and fun thing in this entire game. Well at least with blight. I really wish I could link this game lilith did like a year back where he waited until all gens were done to start playing with only shadowborne, it was a 25 min end game of pure back and fourth action. Both sides were playing out of their minds and the reason it lasted so long was an exponential in shack that if lillith chose to snuff would have let everyone escape.

I think people include too much in the term "anti-loop" when most newer(last couple years) players consider it to be the anti-loop killers that's completely deny loops like artist and knight. Killers like blight and wesker technically have anti loop but it can be outplayed and is not a 100% denial of tiles.
What people really want are more killers like blight and wesker but I understand making different play style killers and how hard it would be to come up with a unique kit that is both strong and interactive like blight.
I started off maining hag and went through a bunch of killers before landing on blight. Blight offers the most interaction for both sides. It's simply a result of having the widest amount of counterplay, none of which is guaranteed to be available in any given scenario. A few of his add-ons do mitigate too much counter play of course though. The point is that humans like proving their selves in something their spend time in. Some killers deny skill expression in nearly everyway make survivors upset, some killers are too weak to do anything but be at the mercy of survivors and the maps they get sent to and some killers are bad but still don't allow for major skill expression for survivors like legion.
I'm not even a little creative so I could never come up with a kit that is both unique and consistently interactive but that's what people want. I guess maybe not the super super causals where dbd is their most competitive video game played.

11PM-5AM has the most consistently good or at least sweaty players. If I am going to play killer then I am probably going to play at those hours. Every single game I play before 10PM just makes me feel bad, as if I were smurfing in silver.
