Its not eurption but it's these 2 facts:
survivors are overnerfed and not fun to play unless you find hyperfocus fun and matchmaking refuses to put you up with people of your own skill
killer meta is either boring or non-interactive - it's either camp tunnel or hold 3 gens by spamming kick button with these new meta perks that drag the game
-
@MalevolentSadist said:
Just like dead hard carrying across the board, yeah I know.
Okay and we are talking about eurption here, maybe try another thread?
-
if it worked all the time it would be amazing actually, 5 people of similar skill so 4 good survivors and a good killer is actually peak DBD experience, tense and anything can happen because everyone knows what they are doing
what actually happens most of the time is a slaughter fest at 4 gens or the killer just gets gen rushed and gets 1 hook and a kill during end game

so youre basically saying "the perk is strong against soloQ and needs a nerf so its even more useless against SWF. So if you play against SWF you just have to accept that you lose. Meanwhile, I cannot accept to have a harder game bcs of one Perk that is outplayable, while SWF is not."
Talking about hypocrisy...
why are you deflecting and talking about SWF, yes I literally wrote that the perk is useless against swf, it does not change the fact that SOLO Q - THE MAJORITY OF THE PLAYER BASE literally cannot do anything about it and that it's way too overpowered and unfair towards the weakest role in the game, either nerf it or help solo q and leave it as it is, I do not care, but this current state is too oppressive
-
I hope you had this exact same energy when you could dead hard to a pallet for distance (since you know DH has a cool down) or have unhooked guy in end game with DS block for his teamates to the gate (since you know DS has 60 seconds duration)
complaining about bs stuff survivors have does not change the fact that in solo q you simply do not know when exactly your teammate will go down

So you want all killer perks easily countered?I want all survivor perks easily countered!
No, and I wrote in this same thread in one of my posts that Eurption has counter, but I also do not want to be forced to play swf if I want to have a shot of escaping

"this perk was nerfed at some point" =/= "this perk is perfectly balanced"
"it's the survivor's mistake he got downed, the survivor made a risky choice, and if eruption is in play it's on them"
at this point you are trolling but I will give in
survivors are bound to go down at some point, the game is balanced around that (if it wasn't people here would whine even more than usual) and in my original post I perfectly described the situation why this perk is problematic, you are down to 1 or 2 gens that are almost done, point of the game where things switch and killer is at his strongest, resources are limited now, map is much more of a dead zone then than at the start and people are just bound to go down, and for solo q the situation is even worse because you do not know whats going on half of the time and then on top of that eurption comes in and makes sure the killer can now completely stop the momentum with just one down (not even a hook, a down),
-
@Volcz said:
Just get to the point where you don't even debate or acknowledge the few people who actually defend this perk. They don't care about balance, they care about losing a perk they run in 95% of their builds because they know how overtuned and strong it is. They are not unbiased, they either don't play solo and/or are killer 'mains'. Everyone with a brain and experience in solo que can see that Eruption is not healthy for the game as solo que is the majority. Anyone disputes that, just roll your eyes & move on. No point talking to a wall.
yeah I guess you are right, it's funny how they will ignore this and then whine about survivor perks, hypocrisy at its best
it's also funny how people are straight-up ignoring the fact that I am talking about solo q (literally in the thread title), in swf this perk and most of the killers are a joke to deal with since you know exactly what everyone else is doing (another topic completely)
but in solo where you have 4 people alive (and you are facing a good killer who knows what they are doing) and 4-3 gens done which is a miracle by itself (which means even with lack of coordination and communication everyone managed to play well for the team to be doing this well) and then just by the sheer fact that solo q does not have comms one down can completely destroy momentum that was a struggle to reach to begin with feels like a slap in the face

Agreed. Personally It doesn't carry me at all because I just don't like taking time to kick gens, and give survivors any more distance than I have to. If I'm going for any slowdown, it's gonna be perks like Jolt, SH: Pain Resonance, Dead Mans Switch, Deadlock, Thrilling Tremors, or at worst Hex: Ruin because I favor automatic gen regression and blocking over the manual versions. True PGTW, Call Of Brine, Overcharge, Oppression, and Eruption are more powerful slowdowns, but they all depend upon wasting time kicking gens when you should be moving from chase to chase asap. Equipping those perks incentivizes you to waste time, whereas going with automatic gen regressors incentivizes you to down and hook survivors as much as possible since they're triggered by doing so.
Eruption to me is just a waste of time, sure it can cause a decent amount of regression, and prevent survivors from doing their primary objective for 25 seconds, but when I compare that progression loss to a good Jolt+SH:PR+DMS combo, of which I can get multiple times in more rapid succession, and triggering them means that I'm winning by gaining hooks and downs... There's no contest as to which is the more efficient choice.
I know some people are gonna say "Eruption is just 1 perk, and you have to use 3 to come close to competing with it" and to them I agree, but if automatic slowdown was as strong as manual, then there'd be no point in ever going manual. The trade off for automatic is that it does less, but is far more consistent, mostly unpreventable, and is triggered by your performance. Most of the manual ones however have the potential to do more, but their trade off is that you waste time kicking gens rather than chasing/downing survivors, and worst of all, they also can mostly be countered by a survivor simply tapping a gen.
The only reason survivors are butt hurt over Eruption is because they can't counter when it triggers by getting off the gen beforehand unless they have a perk like Empathy to see who is getting chased and how close they are to being downed. However, they often forget that Eruption is a 2 part "Setup and Trigger" perk that requires the killer to first waste time kicking gens, and then once prepped, chase and down a survivor. They don't realize how often a killer with Eruption will waste time kicking said gens only to enter a chase that takes longer than 25 seconds to get the down to trigger it, at which point, typically, at least 1 affected gen gets completed, thusly making the time the killer took to kick it in the first place completely worthless. This is exactly why I don't use it, and believe the only killers that can actually get any use from it are the ones that either have high mobility or can insta down frequently, because those killers make up for the time they lose kicking gens by being more efficient at downing survivors quickly. To me though that seems like an awful lot of effort when those same killers could instead just use their mobility or insta downs to trigger multiple automatic slowdown perks, and not have to spend any time dropping potential chases by kicking gens.
If I equip slowdown, it's typically 2 perks at most since the majority of my builds are made around chase, tracking, or downing advantage vs slowdown, because I've adapted my style around "Kill Rushing" in order to combat "Gen Rushing", and it's working out pretty great for me. Either that or complete meme builds designed to waste survivors time or distract them from the gens with perks like Franklin's Demise, Hex: Plaything, Deathbound, Overwhelming Presence, Hex: Third Seal, Hex: Huntress Lullaby or Healing slowdowns, because they're both fun to use and annoying as hell to the survivors. They may not be as effective at getting wins for me as a slowdown or chase build would, but the amount of salt I receive in the post game chat is priceless, and gives me a good laugh every time they complain about perks they could have easily ignored and just gen rushed through instead of falling for the distraction. Seriously, I'll never get tired of survivors Running back for a dropped item only to find it in one of my Trails of Torment, and purposely become tormented just to get it back before it's charges drain... sigh, so much fun!
Overall, Eruption can be very costly to the survivors gen progress and time if its pulled off before any of the affected gens get completed, but honestly the amount of time it wastes for the killer and loss of potential chases is hardly worth the investment to me when I could be using that time to chase, use up pallets, and down survivors instead. In the end, I feel my way of doing things is just more efficient, and Eruption or manual slowdown perks like it, are too much of a time wasting distraction to be useful in the mid to high SBMM games, so I just pass them up when making my builds.
TL;DR:
Automatic Slowdown Perks>Manual Slowdown perks because you are incentivized to gain slowdown by chasing and downing survivors instead of wasting time and potential chases kicking gens. While not as potent in damage to gen progress, It's better to be rewarded with slowdown automatically, and more frequently for doing your job as a killer efficiently, than it is to be distracted by a perk that costs you chase time with the promise that you'll get value from it as long as the survivors don't stop the slowdown by tapping the gen, or in Eruptions case, finish the affected gen before you can get a down to activate it. Survivors don't like Eruption because it wastes their time when it triggers, and they can't always predict when it's gonna activate on them, but they also don't realize how rarely it triggers on all intended gens before they're completed while the killer is chasing a teammate. Eruption and Manual Slowdown perks are inefficient time wasters for killers that gen rushing survivors can take advantage of more often than the killers. Just my opinion.
not you writing an entire chapter of war and peace there to defend this perk against solo players just to sneak in equip empathy to counter it as if empathy shows you the killer aura as well
these people never play solo q I swear

Like don't get me wrong solo queue sucks right now and has for years but you including the bit about mmr means nothing and only tells me you think it works like most mmr systems which it doesn't when over half the playerbase gets put in games with people over the matchmaking cap. Also we know all this due to data miners and what bhvr has told us themselves so I'm not guessing.
I do not think it works I literally wrote that sometimes I get bad teamates, but I would say on average I get good killers and good teamates, and the point was just to explain how OP this perk is even against good players, when i get bas teamates killer can win perkless it doesn't matter
-
@gilgamer said:
I'll be honest, the second I hear "I'm high mmr" or some variation of it, I stop caring. MMR doesn't matter and is barely any measure of skill. The matchmaking cap is so low that it basically has the same meaning that "I'm a rank 1" use to have.
I explained why I used the term 4 posts above, it's literally just to point out how I am not playing with some rank 20 pre-drop everything Megs who do not even know what Eruption is, like I could have just written I get good teamates and eurption is still OP and it would not change anything. Ty for not reading the rest of the post I guess

Why did you let a 3 gen happen ?
IF 3 gen happens it's because I am playing solo q (literally I am talking about solo q - its in the thread title) and you cannot coordinate what everyone else is doing, your teammates have no idea what gens is everyone else on if everyone spreads out and they have no idea where or where not to run the killer because they do not know where everyone else is
-
@Phasmamain said:
Can we stop saying “high MMR” like it means anything? The cap is so low basically everyone has reached it
But you are right about eruption. It’s unfairly strong against solo queue
you are absolutely right I hate using the term, I just thought it's the easiest way to point out how I am not playing with your average crouch in the corner waiting for hatch survivors, but that I do get good teammates in solo and yet even tho everyone played really well with the handicap of not having coordination, not knowing everyone's perks and etc and even with that and the fact that we were about to pop all gens with 4 of us still alive (a miracle in solo) against a good killer there's that one eruption moment that causes us to lose
-
@Unam said:
You can basically copy & paste this text onto almost every meta Surv Perk or Red Addon.
Adrenaline/Unbreakable/Syringes/BNPs/Dead Hard/etc./etc.
Like how often do those perks/items carry the most average survivors through matches they shouldnt have won?
You cannot glue yourself to that one strong perk that killers have until it gets butchered (like corruption/ruin/noed/etc) while merely every surv meta perk is carrying their mistakes.
Devs have to lift soloQ communication until it is en par with swf.
Otherwise there will never be balance in this game.
Right now the game is so disgustingly surv sided and SWF is utterly broken. And still, survs get upset about one perk they cannot counter by just brain afking...
(small tip, dont 3 gen yourself and dont do a kicked gen if someone is in chase if the killer has erruption :) )
oh here is the regular I will counter your arguments with my arguments about the other side
adrenaline - the survivors have to finish the gens to do even get value from this 1 time use perk and it still does not guarantee it will achieve anything unless you can coordinate some cool adrenaline play - which you cannot in solo q
unbreakable - are you serious? It's the killer's mistake he slugged someone, the killer made a risky choice, and if there's unbreakable in play
it's on them
dead hard - nerfed
old ds - nerfed
off the record - nerfed, does not work end game
bnps and syringe are powerful yes but not in the same extent eruption is, unless you once again have 4 man team with 4 bnps which you won't have in your average solo q match
yes because I am able to control if 3 gen happens or no in solo :) and if the killer has gen-kicking perks there are high chances that at the point of the match where we are at 1 gen or 2 gens left all gens have been kicked :)
I personally have nothing against old killer meta with ruin undying as they are easily countered, even pr/dms has a counter when you are on your own, but Eurption is overtuned far more than those older killer meta perks
-
Lol no
maybe against coordinated swf with flashlights and 2 boons but other than that she is a nightmare to deal in solo q where 90% survivors 3 gen and one basement hook from her ends the game on the spot (since people actually try to save unlike with Bubba)

Yeah, Fortnite! The game that has, for sure, never been criticized for being designed by a cadre of psychologists to siphon money off impressionable children. What a paragon of ethical business!
Every single company wants to take your money, it's parent responsibility to control what they buy for their children.
These are still just SKINS we are talking about, literally something that does not influence gameplay at all, you are not required to buy them ever.
The fact that there are multiple threads about this now actually is so funny to me, people are so bored these days.
-
erm I am sorry but Kate so many good outfits, you will survive this one I'm sure
-
after struggling so bad to reach iri rank 1 previous month I honestly gave up on pipping at this point and I would suggest everyone else to do the same, it literally means nothing and you will get bunch of blood points anyway since no one wants to play survivor these days so there's always 100% bonus reward
-
why should we?
it's basically hold w until you are caught and then he spams his buddies to appear next to the hook until people are forced to trade with usually 3-kick-gen meta perks applied
a chore to play against
-
I honestly do not understand what's going on, but games like Fortnite literally have item rotation and it changes 24 hours and some items may never appear again and like no one has a meltdown about it, it really is not a big deal at all
-

Games not dead but I have no idea how a new player is supposed to learn even half of this game...
There are roughly 150 perks, Killer Powers + mechanics, map layout, items, offerings, etc.
That's not even accounting the experience new players face
they don't, DBD has been unable to retain players for years now, the best examples are RE DLCs, HUGE fanbase but once they realize how broken this game is everyone leaves after the first week

pretty much what everyone said, I would add so the killer mains on youtube/twitch can go on winning streaks, and then people who are maybe interested in the killer role (because lbr DBD's aesthetic and roster will always be amazing) might give it go since they will be like oh wow this looks fun
I did have some amazing solo q teammates and games but those are so far in between.
-
it's extremely hard to counter aura reading nurse on the game, which is just pallet city that means nothing against her
it's my favorite map to play as a nurse actually lol
I can understand why these survivors got rolled like that, it's mostly this map + lethal = first chase can be done in less than 20 seconds, nurse uses floods to start the second chase and also ends it super fast and it's snowball from there
if it was any other map other than midwitch maybe the survivors could have done better but yeah this combo on the killer end is broken, just like how their loadouts + the map are broken against every other killer
-
yeah truly a MAN, David and Felix found dead on basement hook
-
Yeah idk why people are complaining about bully squads when these team exist
bully squads actually want to interact with you and get in your face
I once had couple of claudettes bring swamp and pebble and I hiding all the time in the grass while I was nurse which makes hiding extra painful to just wait for my power to charge and walk around extra slow looking for them, wanted to die of boredom

"Nurse is a strongest free killer" should not be an excuse for developers to make more and more licensed (pay only) stuff in the game.
I'm absolutely ok with perks and outfits. I'm even ok with killers being obtain only through real money, but don't you see what is happening?
More and more licensed characters are being released, I feel like in the near future we'll have more "Pay to play" stuff in this game, than a free... And it's not ok in a game, which you already have to buy.
What licensed characters? Wesker? Wesker is the newest killer and his pick/rate and kill rate is high simply due to that fact + he is
fun to play and people like him. Before him we got 2 free killers with Artist actually not only being top among 5 stronger killers possibly but also she brought 1 absolutely game-changing killer meta perk to the game and then we got Sadako, Pinhead and Nemesis, all of them are objectively just not good as top tier killers. It's actually kinda funny how Behaviour is making the killers you have to pay for B tier at best in most cases while their original killers with strong perks that can be obtained for free are in the A-S tier category
-
@Grigerbest said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3249475#Comment_3249475
No it's not about "like the character", it's about "Doing better with paid character".
this is where you are 100% wrong, your friend or any other DBD player is not entitled to a win, pay 2 win means you can only win with paid characters or that you have some super extreme advantage, this is not the case as every killer is just different, yes some are weaker than others but objectively original killers are actually better/stronger and they are all free.
The base DBD game gives you killers that you can play as soon as you start and the others that can be obtained for free if played enough. It's not DBD's fault your friend is not good with free killers, so maybe get better?
And they cannot give licensed characters for free. They also reduced the grind, I mean DBD has A LOT of issues, but this is not one of them.
-
Because bringing the best stuff and trying way too hard as survivor is the only way to have a minimal chance to win these days in solo
-
Sounds to me like the rest of the team actually played the match and interacted with the killer and you just held m1, I mean you do you but I would rather be in their place than yours
-
I agree, the other day I faced and I am not lying 4 nurses in a row, 3 were 4ks and the 4th one was actually 4e on Graden of Joy which surely helped.
The thing is the 3 matches we lost were actually super fast so it's like, just try to do something if you fail you fail and the Nurse is better than your team the match will be over pretty quick anyway, better that than waiting for the 4 minute penalty
-
they would never do that, it does not make sense from the financial sense, as a new power can mean new killer = new DLC to sell
-
Lol I would love to see them play any killer (though the weaker the more fun it would be) against a coordinated survivors who have more than 2 brain cells on some huge map
-
whew, I did it :) I had 4 amazing matches in a row with one being double pip but good lord the anixety after each one was just so funny 😂

Hexy wins more games than me.
okay but if you win 99% comp should be the way to go, you are just still way too good
-
are you guys for real?
Bully squads are actually fun to go against because they will get in your face so there's some interaction between the sides, of course if you are bad and does not know how to counter some basic stuff then yeah it's painful but anyone with some experience can deal with them pretty easily
the thing you should be scared of is a 4 man swf that will split up on gens and have 5 gens done under 5 minutes after they comp pre-drop everything
-
because you are in that case one of the best dbd players in the world, I would suggest going comp to cash in on that, unless you of course WANT to pub stomp all the time
-
So let me get this straight, you are mad that Pig, one of the weakest killers in the game brought 2 ######### and one semi decent perk and only had one additional slot for something actually useful so they csb counter the weakest item in the game?
please let me know whats your id so I can load in as Nurse against you, I will ONLY bring starstruck out of those 3 I promise :)
-
you sound whiny and entitled
you did not play perfectly, they obviously played better
this thread is also 3x times worse when you realize you probably stomp on solos all the time and lost one game in 2 days and came here to complain the moment it happened

@Ayamir said:
Nah my mans tweakin'.
Blight is alot of fun to go against I agree even the really sweaty ones are fun to face because Blight is a balanced killer with a few tricks/techs that makes him unique(F C33 tho).
Nurse I am not sure about that there's like only 2 outcomes either the Nurse is bad and gets mindgamed to the most predictable things like double backs and panic with her blinks then it will be a easy 4man-escape but this never happens since Baby Nurses are so rare nowadays.
Or the Nurse is running double range add-ons with Agitation + Starstruck and brings us to Midwich for a guaranteed 4ks where she's gonna absolutely stomps a SoloQ team at 4/5 gens.
But you're a Nurse main I am sure it's always fun for you to go against your main just like me when I am playing against an Oni.
Nurses games are sleepers even when I do well in chase against a Nurse I know it's because the Nurse is bad and keeps panicking with her blinks not because of my own skill.
Even playing as her feels so boring because alot of players suicide on hook/DC against her and I am really average at Nurse but I will still stomp most SoloQ teams but that's not a Nurse problem it's a SoloQ problem, still I feel really bad when playing nurse against random unorganised teams.
The trick to mastering Nurse is being PATIENT and not panicking with your blinks which is why she's not that hard as Nurse defenders make her out to be.
I do not mind Nurse not because she is my main but because it's fun if the team is also good, sometimes in solo I actually get really efficent teamates and we even get 3 or even 4 people out
my last good match against a great nurse was with this super coordinated team, I am not sure if they were 3 man or no, I took the first chase, they popped 2 gens and then we just keept switching hooks and everyone lasted long enough for all 4 of us to remain alive when we popped the last gen, which was literally in her face while she was carrying Nea, me and the other 2 were proving gen, she hit us all but it popped and I got adren, but sadly she went after me since I was the only person death hook and I died but everyone else escaped, it was such a good match.
I am not too happy when I get usual Starstruck Sally and then everyone just dcs/gives up
-
The reason for that is that fans of those franchises are more likely to get into DBD if they can play as their favorite RE character or let's say Lisa from SH, it's easier for Devs to just make those skins and call it a day
When it comes to the original characters, sky is the limit, but people who know about them are already fans of the game and have the characters.
I am all for expanding the original universe by adding more original survivors, but not as skin but as new survivors who are connected, Felix/Elodie stories and connections are among my favourites in the game and I would love more stuff like that
-
@Sumnox said:
MMR is a myth. Anyone who think/thought "they're high MMR" is day dreaming. It's completely random and only really works when you're absolutely fresh new and you play your first 2 matches. If you survive twice after that, you get dumped into the general pool.
I agree, MMR just does not exist and it's a placebo
I have 2500 hours, and I can play a match against a 100 hour Wesker who just installed the game because of Resident Evil and then face a 3000 hour Huntress main in the next match, with my teamates ranging from urban evasion Neas to legacy Megs with 10k hours
-
all of the new meta perks are just annoying to deal with and pr + dms, jolt, eruption and whatever just feel so draining to counter, it's not hard but it's also not fun
At least with ruin undying it was like okay let's all split up find the totems, the killer will get a hook or 2 until they are gone, and then we can just play a normal dbd match, now it's like oh let me go off a gen before this person is hooked, let me throw a game to tap the gen, it's just stupid.
-
Have you tried starstruck/agitation build? As a Nurse main I prefer to use Starstruck on Hag, it's super fun esp with Agi, because the survivors will be super scared to even move knowing they are exposed and I can pop up any moment and down them instatly.
It's the build I have gotten most dcs on lmao
-
Looks like a skill issue to me, gens were done and gates were opened, you were not playing well enough to prevent that.
-
how dare they
-
I would argue that COH killed Hag back in October.
I recently played against Lisa on Midwitch on all places, and she actually ran Nurses, but me and another random had COH and I also had distortion and there was literally nothing she could do about it, we kept pushing gens getting hit and just healing in COH, the match lasted so long because at no point she was able to snowball which is what Hag does the best out of most of the cast
-
According to this forum Survivors should have no perks
