  • "Your" truth about rank.
The reality about rank is that it's rather irrelevant, and except for some rare case of decent matchmaking, it's mostly to give people a reason to keep playing the game while satisfying their ego.
Seeing a bar to progress always make people feel like they accomplish something, and it's actually what ranks do :
They make you feel like y ou accomplish something, while you truly don't.

  • Just checked the files. It's indeed in the game's folder.
Guess I'll report it to steam since I'm not sure they allow this kind of procedures.

  • I think you don't understand the basic principle of juking tho.
Juking is efficiently wasting the killer's time.
Losing the killer is breaking the line of sight and not allowing the killer to find you again.

Against Nurse, one of your only option is to LOSE her, while against other killers, you can both lose AND juke them. (You can also Juke pretty bad nurses, or good nurse for a very short tries, the time she learns to adapt your playstyle, which is usually rather quick, especially with multiple blinks.

Looping is just an efficient, yet annoying, way to juke.
It is cheap since it relies on very few mindgames (Basically usually the basic "Will I drop, will I not drop the pallet, and in any case, the pallet vacuum will save me just in time if I don't", which is, by definition, a win-win scenario, you just win more in one of the two situations.)

Stealthing the Doctor ain't that hard. It's harder than other killers for sure, still doable to some extent. Usually the whole point against Doc is to get to Madness 1 quickly in the match, usually with other survivors at the same time, to exploit the fact that a killer can only apply pressure on a single person at once.

Doctor, as devs stated, is meant to be played against differently, because, by any means, he will quickly FIND YOU and CHASE you, and he can also pressure gens with his presence/TR quite heavily. The whole point of Doctor is to make the round a battle against Time for survivors. It basically puts them in the same situation than killers are in most rounds.
The thing to understand is, the Doctor is pretty much nearly always in a chase, which means that, sooner or later, depending on the skill of survivors, he will catch someone, and find someone else rather quickly.
It basically forces survivors out of their comfort zone and force them to repair under specific conditions, aka another survivor on the hook, or under the terror radius, or pretty close to the killer. Which is why most new players have trouble against him : they want to fill comfortable in their round, and being able to repair while everything is going allright.
As devs stated, it's not happening, and playing against this guy is different than any other killer from that perspective, and it's totally fine.

  • It's just excuses tbh.
My own connection is actually very cheap (max download 2MO/s, max upload 100ko/s) and bad since I live in a very small town. People in my lobbies do have 50 to 70 ping if they're from west europe, and no one ever complained about any lag except if they lived at the opposite of the world.

    ^ This.

  • Oh, I remember a good one.
It was lategame, I was playing Hag, 1 gen left, in full stalling mode. 2 survivors left only.
Suddendly, one of them ragequit, and the other one instantly takes the hatch.
    In the endgame chat
"LOLOLOL I OUTPLAYED YOU, YOU DIDN'T EXPECT ME TO LEAVE TO GIVE THE HATCH"

  • A watch.

    ... Sorry.
    (The nickname helped tho.)

  • "Killers are supposed to patrol gens"
    No they're not.
Killers are supposed to play the game how they want to play it, usually to kill survivors the way they want to kill them. And camping is usually a good tactic to do so.

If you're looking for people to blame, blame these people :
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K--D3iD3Gk&feature=youtu.be

They just do not care about dying and just give free kills and pips to obvious campers because they do not care.

If people actually repaired instead of feeding campers, most campers would be low ranks and wouldn't rank up, since even with 3k, it's usually hard to even single pip if you camp.
If you actually encounter a lot of camping killers, it's because it's an effective and efficient strategy. And survivors are responsible for this, since pure camping is, in theory, not viable.

As a matter of fact, at high ranks, I have trouble getting 15 meters away from the hooks without someone being already unhooking. Blame the greed, the stupidity, or whatever you want, but not people earning easy win because they figured out that not moving is actually an easy way to win against stupids.

  • The update is the 12th.
And yes, it doesn't include the hatch, but it includes some loop reworks, as well as the vacuum removal.

Once you play without the vacuum, and get it back on live, you wonder how this ######### has been here for so long without getting checked or nerfed.

  • If you play on wifi, maybe you could try out a cable instead, since even minimal loss of connection can cause freezes when it comes to peer to peer connections.

Other than that, maybe you're just playing with people that are pretty far away, tho I doubt it.
Are the pings of your survivors normal in the lobby ?

  • @Spectre_UK said:
Camping should be stopped it is unskilled and not an enjoyable gaming experience for the Survivor in question and if killers leave the Hook and apply more map pressure they will do much better too. Infinite Loops were reduced compared to how bad they used to be and they were just as bad as killers who camp.

Being forced to hang on a Hook for 2 whole mins isn't fun at all for either the Survivor or the Killer it is a boring thing that needs to fixed sooner rather than later.

"They will do much better without camping" is a sad and pretty bad excuse to add a debuff to camping.
Camping is a strategy, and yes, it sucks for the camped. ######### happens when you get caught by the killer.

Being forced to leave the hook isn't fun either for the killer, especially since survivors can recover very quickly from a killer that is easy to predict.
Sure, it gives more chances to the survivors, but do they really need more chances or to be able to cast away the killer if they want to ?
    No.

The whole point of bloodlust if to force pallets down.
    Let that to sink in.

the point of bloodlust is to allow the killer to catch up in a losing chase

and also, you don't have to be a dick
    let that sink in.

I don't have to. But I can be.

The whole point of bloodlust is to force safe pallets down.*
Let me correct myself. If survivors cannot find safe pallets to down, they get a hit.
THat's the whole point of bloodlust in the current state.

  • The whole point of bloodlust if to force pallets down.
    Let that to sink in.

  • Have been asked several times.
Survivors usually disagree because it would possibly lead to even more dodging while SWF. Which is actually quite possible.

  • Camping doesn't have to be stopped.
They already tried several mecanics to try to stop it, and it always ended up in a similar fashion :
Survivors abused it so heavily that even devs themselves couldn't consider it as viable.

Catching someone shouldn't have to put you in a hurry to leave the area anyway. You're the killer, as soon as you catch someone, you dictate what's gonna happen to that person if you want to. That's how it is and how it should stay. Survivors have enough control over the game already.

  • No.
I don't want survivors to cooperate, so :
    NO.
    Kek.

  • Why, it doesn't sound that great, and "Dankest" is so January.

Camping your first catch is actually one of the most effective strategy to kill high rank survivors. Any experienced killer will tell you this.

It's just basic strategy and common knowledge amongst high ranks.

Too much post-processing can really tame down that eerie vibe. It's like they took the theme song and "orchestracized" it. Bring back the grit. Grit good.

I just want some violent scenes with blasting halloween themes and some actual realisation. The trailer looks kinda cheap, but maybe that's just me lol.

Against toxic killers (and I don't mean legitimate camping killers), I wait for them at the exit gates until they come, and just leave in their face to waste their time as much as they wasted mine.

Why do you wait for the killer that he has to hit you if he wasnt toxic?
And what do you consider a toxic killer?

I do wait for him for a fair trade of points, since he may enjoy it. Only if he's very close tho. I don't like to make people to wait, or to wait at exit gates for more than 20seconds or so.

A toxic killer is usually one that use cheesy tactics, such as full camping without reason with no incentives to leave the hook even for one second. I can understand camping someone you dislike, or camping whne other survivors are possibly around, but standing there, watching at a dying survivor that did nothing special, and wait for him to die for 2mins while others are repairing and exiting is just a waste of everyone's time.
Lag switchers are also a pain.
Eventually the ones going full ape ######### everyone, stacking as many odds as possible for them like... Grabbing an ebony mori + tryhard add-ons (like 3-4 blinks nurse), or systematically put the game and play Iridescent king Doctor several rounds in a row. I don't consider that toxic, of course, but it's just being annoying for the sake of being annoying.
I understand you need to feel strong, but this ######### is stupid.
In any case, I don't teabag tho.

The only case I teabag is when I kill a fellow survivors that sandbagged me. Which happens relatively often.

  • The new version DEFINITELY lacks the tingling sound in the theme. It begs for it. SERIOUSLY.
    https://youtu.be/G7FNFOFjar0?t=39 THIS, sound. at 0:39

  • He's just boring to play with AND to play against.
He promotes everything people hates about the game :

    • Sandbagging your teammates (because he cannot stop rescuers)
    • Looping (most effective strategy since getting away actual reveals you)
    • Tunneling
    • Lategame strategies such as NOED (that are viable strategies, but still hated)
    • Very low Stealth possibilities
    • Ultra cockiness since the incentives to hide are nearly nowhere to be found (Aka healing a downed survivor in his face)
    • Frustrating gameplay, aka seeing a survivor sprinting toward a juking spot at the last second with sprint burst after repairing a gen for 5 seconds in your face, with nothing you can do about it.
    • etc.

Nurse can be pretty ridiculous, but she's sooo stressfull, that's why i didn't put her higher on mine list, I like her but shes too stressfull to be fun as but she earns that spot because games where i completly wreck the opposition are the most fun i ever had.

She's not stressful to me, she's dull. You spend 1/3 of your round looking at your feet.
It's super effective, but boring as heck. It's basically basic prediction, with some possibilities to correct yourself. Basically, it's like playing Poker with multiple hands, while your foes do have only one hand. It just feels cheesy.

  • It's because Amanda's ultra rare add-on was supposed to give her one shot on her ambush. But they removed that because it was judged "too strong" and basically did put a poor man's version of an ability instead.

  • Trapper. The fact he simply WALKS to chase people is creepy as #########.
    Then Myers ofc.

Why does it take SEVERAL hooking to kill a survivor, while in reality, a simple hooking would very likely do ?

  • She's somewhat hard* to learn. She's mostly about "muscle memory" and getting used to it.
Strategically talking tho, some other killers, such as Hag or Trapper, are way superior in term of learning compared to her.

Overall, being skilled with her is way too rewarding compared to what it should be, but survivors are in a similar place. Once you're good at survivor, you can pretty much waste any killer MINUTES in a round in a single chase, even without DS or insta-heals. (Except for Nurse, most of the time)

  • I wish there were less skillchecks.
QTE's were fun in the 1990. Now it's time for dynamic gameplay.

    No more skillchecks please.

I hope you enjoy seeing four Claudettes every game, because that's what would happen.

Actually, people would more likely pick Meg.
Meg could Get : Sprint burst 3, Adrenaline 3 and Self-care 1 (that still has 50% self-care speed, only a slight reduction on medkit efficiency)
Claudette could however only get Sprint burst 1, that could make the game slightly harder for them, which is not wanted ofc!

Well, it depends if you take Op's idea or WK5 idea tho.
Since Meg is a runner, she would very likely also get one of the best passive.

They talk it good, because they cant balance the game properly, because of the survivor tears.

    Camping is intended.
You have to give the killer a reason to leave the hook, not expect him to go on a fool's errand and hope he doesn't come back in time. Someone getting caught is now a bait for other players, and a bait, in several scenarios, do have pretty low survival chances.

If you have a problem with that, you have 2 solutions :
    Do not save against campers.
    Do not get caught.

And yes, at times, you'll get caught and camped. ######### happens.

Some translations are late to be updated, including German and French one.
The current Borrowed Time status is :

"You are fuelled with an unexpected energy when saving an ally from a hook within the Killer's Terror Radius. For 15 seconds after unhooking a Survivor within the Killer's Terror Radius, any damage taken that would put the unhooked Survivor into the Dying State will instead trigger a 15/20/25 seconds bleed-out timer.

If the unhooked Survivor takes any damage during the bleed-out timer or if the bleed-out timer ends, the unhooked Survivors will be put into the Dying State"

Basically, it has no limits of use, and only affects the rescued.
    Source : https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Borrowed_Time

First I thought it was changed like this, but I thought they changed it back. Good to know that it's a translation mistake.

For some reasons, we have translations, but with a lot of mistakes.
For example, the reworked Wraith add-ons (Windstorm) do not have the penalty shown on the most recent traductions of the game, even tho the update is now... 8 months old or so ?

    Just saying.

Imo, next step is DS/Hatch and trapper rework, with a few possible tweaks but I doubt they're gonna remake teachables anytime soon.

  • The game is intended for the survivors to pick the survivor they like best, rather than the survivor with the best stats. (even tho that principle is faulty due to the fact female survivors are smaller/harder to see for example)
Devs stated it in the streams and already considered passives quite a few times.

  • Your first mistake is to consider camping as an offense.
Your second mistake is to consider the other players as your teammates.
Your third mistake is to think your teammate should be able to be warned about a camper.
Your fourth mistake is to think that camping should be stopped via mecanics rather than though process.

Interessting. Everyone knows about how doomed Killers are and the devs just do not care...
I played Hag so far on 40 because of the hex perks and wrath to 35. Trying to get leatherface and billy up now.

Wouldnt it be great to make it a lot easyier for survivors to pip?
Or give the Survivor/Killers only the unique perks at rank 3 for the specific charakter and for all others cap it at rank 1?
And to top it off i would like to have a colorblind mode (only put some more blue shades into the red/green ones) Half of mankind is Red/Green blind like me and doesnt see bloody claudetes in the green/brown Gras.
Killer ranking up is way too fast. almost guaranteed to pip if you manage to get one kill, rank 15+ is pure waste of time for me

Survivor will be easier to pip on the patch that is happening the 12th june.

I dislike the idea of perk limitations. I feel like the perk themselves should be balanced, rather than giving some limited mecanics.

About the colorblind mod, I personally use Nvidia Freestyle (a beta feature on Nvidia Experience). It requires an older driver (390.77) to work for Dbd, and to have the overlay + beta features activated.
Then it has some graphic features, along with colorblind features, that I personally use since I'm slightly colorblind.

  • You mean All-seeing ? It's an add-on, not a perk.
And yes, overall, it's fair, since Wraith is rather weak.

  • A killer camped.
    A survivor got mad.

Things are in order in here.
As Tyde said in one of his previous video : Wraith is FULLY INVISIBLE while not moving. If it's not built for a camper, tell me what it is ?

EDIT : I suggest you to watch this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c3kz80t-Cc He clearly explains his point of view about camping, and got "everyone" (amongst his fans, that is) informed about that a while ago.

The whole point isn't to ruin survivors. The point is to get a strategy to win without running in circles.

I'm tired of the exuses. They've had enough time.

Anybody who still has faith in them at this point is naive.

    You're, indeed, right about that.

  • As far as I'm concerned, most buffs stack, and are additive.
Most buffs are worthless in term of game impact tho.

If you really wanna try different build, try perks that are not based on action speed, but rather the ones that give you more possibilities, such as quick and quiet, Lithe, Dance with Me, Iron Will, Small Game, Balanced Landing, Unbreakable and such.

If you expect good things out of "That perk gives me 5% more speed, is it worth it ?", the answer is very commonly :
    No.

Spine Chill Action speed for vaulting can prove useful tho, especially since it has some killer detection system integrated.

Yes, devs could have (possibly) had better use of their time on the game than doing cosmetics (very arguable since the artistic team do not work on scripts tho).

This is a good point but it's also worth considering that patches often break the game more than fixing it.

Look at emblems - worthless participation trophies that means killers can't even get a match at rank 1 anymore.

Part of me wants them to just abandon this game before it gets any worse.

Well, the next sentence is there for you then.
I had this doubt too, quite a lot, back then.
    The result :
I treat DbD how it should be treated : a casual game that you play at times, leave at times when you feel like it's too frustrating, and I just play it amongst other (possibly better ?) games, such as Slay the Spire, Dead cells, soon to come Monster Hunter, and others.

That's pretty much the only solution. I do talk to devs on a daily basis nowadays, and they told me that the only solution is to trust and wait. They actually got on better tracks recently, but it's still gonna take them a pretty big amount of time to do changes.
And since they only rarely showed true intent to make the gameplay less of a chore for killer (and eventually surv in some situations, aka ragequitting and such), it's kinda legitimate to consider leaving.

Most people are just getting hooked too much by the addiction of the game, and the semi-conflits it creates between themselves and other players, as well as between themselves and the dev team.
You don't need this addiction if it doesn't give you enough to feel allright tho.

  • Devs wants as little info as possible not to break the (supposed) immersion in the game. At least that's what they said.
