About two years back they made the MMR stricter. The result was indeed complaints about wait times, but also about much more stressful trials. Turns out the sweats don't actually like going up against the sweats back to back to back.

Many of DBD's issues stem from a players mindset.

The complaints were mostly winstreak streamers crying they couldn't steamroll through 50 solo queue teams while chewing doritos into the mic and reading chat.

I dont think that the gameplay for the game will really change. This is just a working formula and they wont risk it.

However, since they will make it possible to mod the game, this is what will guarantee that the game can basically go on forever.

When they say modding, they don't really mean changing game files, creating your own retextures, etc right? I was under the impression they basically meant some kind of custom match creation tools where the community can create their own game modes?

We can agree to disagree. I doubt old ranged killers are doing well in todays dbd. Trickster is struggling with his/her 4.4 speed, so is deathslinger. As i said huntress is rare killer in my games nowdays as is other "older" ranged killers with no map mobility. There must be a reason for it no?
Survivors have gotten good buffs lately. Hud has been improved quite a bit for the soloQ. Survivors have gotten 15 second endurance. Newer killers have all anticamp of some sort built into their kit. Old perks like DH,DS are still meta and for a reason.

Survivors arent weak and they have gotten buffs, just because soloQ sucks doesnt mean survivor side is bad.

The only changes in everything you listed that buffed survivors were UI and anti-camp/tunnel. So just those two changes and Huntress suddenly isn't viable? In nearly every way, survivors are weaker now than when Huntress first released, and she was widely considered an example of a fun and well balanced killer up until a couple years ago. What I think we're getting at is she's only considered weak or powercrept in relation to several wildly overtuned killers released in the last couple years.

  • @Hannacia said:

Huntress is still slow, has to go to a locker to get more hatchets, If you don't have aura reading are you really a huntress, but having aura reading means losing gens. Maps are still pretty large and inside maps sucks for huntress. So yeah her map coverage is pretty bad as is every ranged killers that doesn't have somekind of mobility.

Most huntress games are chill, if you know how to loop one. They are great campers though. She just isnt as good as she used to be and i wouldn't mind if she got buffs.

None of those things were powercrept. Aura perks are stronger than they've ever been. Her reload is faster and she gets basekit infantry belt. Maps have only been made smaller and weaker. Indoor maps were only made smaller and weaker. How is any of that powercreep?

  • @Hannacia said:

Can we stop comparing Jason to huntress, or trickster or deathslinger.

All of those 3 have been powercrept so hard that they are pretty useless in most maps and against good survivors. So no. Lets not make Jason to be same level as huntress or trickster when both of those killers are in serious needs of buffs.

If i understood correct too Jasons projectile speed is actually slower than huntresses making it easier to dodge.

How exactly has Huntress been "powercrept"? Presumably you must mean survivors have been made stronger, but how exactly? Most survivors are still using worse versions of perks that existed when Huntress first released, with weaker versions of the same items, on weaker versions of maps that existed when she was released.

  • The spear is fine. It requires skill to aim and gives a fair warning and chance to dodge. The exhaustion add on is bs, as is 25 seconds of haste on a 12 second cooldown when starting every chase with a massive advantage already. The unlimited duration crouchathon is getting extremely old already.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

Most of the gross steamrolls have their roots in improper matchmaking. The soft cap needs adjusting and lobby shopping needs to be dealt with. Prolly have to give their system more time to match everyone up better as the priority rather than faster queue times.

Once all this is done over time everyone's MMR will filter players to where they belong much more often. This would include SWF gradually, as about half of all survs are either duos or solos, with trios rarer and quads even more so rare.

As others have pointed out, one and sometimes two survs escaping is the goal overall.

Yea I'm tired of the excuse from people saying "well its not BHVR's fault because when asked players say they prefer faster matchmaking over quality". They may say that on a survey, but player behavior in matches (lobby shopping, DCs, giving up, etc.) show they don't actually tolerate it unless they're the ones stomping the new player(s). We can have a system that waits a couple minutes for a decent match without making a certain Twins player wait 2 hours.

  • Starting every chase directly behind the survivor with a powerful ranged attack and 25 seconds of haste, after being handed infinite stealth, mobility, and information on a negligible cooldown? Skill-based means more than just "well at least its not autoaim".

  • @Angy_Quentin said:

    You can crouch.

Then you lose on efficiency every time. Good luck getting the gates powered while crouching from a 12 second cooldown infinite duration power, all while dealing with the killer's selection of 4 slowdown perks since he gets everything he could want for info/chase/stealth for free or from add ons.

  • He's a good example of why ranged killers should not be 4.6

Yeah numbers dont lie but you are kinda wrong here because wraith has free movement and he can uncloak anywhere but jason can exit his omnipresent mode only on windows and pallets or breakable walls so he catches up faster becase jason has to leave specific spot.

So if survivor isnt near pallet or window jason wont ctach up faster, wraith can hit survivor and cloak and get behind him and uncloak and its fater then jason who cant do it right behind survivor as wraith can.

No ranged power, easier to see/hear him approaching, telegraphs his uncloak, slower while cloaked than Jason, doesn't cause exhaustion with an add on every uncloak, can't teleport between floors.

Jason has range power thats very specific and was nerfed since he was in ptb and has same hitbox as slinger which is smallest possible hitbox in entire game and its one time use shot that he must restock. You see wraith in open only in indoors you wont see him unless you have loss and you still have to pay lot of attention its more because he bonks the bell but he is easier to see.

Again slower he is but jason beats wraith in global map wide mobility not survivor catching up mobility in which wraith is slightly behind dracula who only can fly over pallets and windows and has tp to it but its same as wraith.

Do you think draculas catch up power is worse then jasons??? Here you will answer yourself in this.

And last addons which we talked about before so thats like 4 points max.

And please leave your old photos or photos of your family out of this, I dont think its nice doing yourself or your members, thank you.

Its a famous meme confused face.

Simply having a ranged attack invalidates half of the tiles on most maps. And its very easy to reload midchase with no slowdown.

Wraith is slower, with no ranged attack, with worse stealth, and doesn't cause blanket exhaustion to everyone in the same area code from using his power.

  • Most boring? No. Could he use some adjustments? Probably.

  • @Abbzy said:

Wraith can catch up faster the jason and now you admited you hate it because of addon.

Wraith moves at 150% cloaked, Jason at 175% and through second story windows. And I brought up 5 differences between the two and you immediately jump to "you hate it because of addon".

Im down for that, Ghoul, Nurse, Blight, The first ect. any of the top tiers, lets get a 4x for facing.

a good nurse has the same problem, its a waste of time for survivors cuz the game is usually 2 minutes long.

Well I respect your logical consistency

  • So do I get a 4x multiplayer every time I vs Ghoul in solo queue?

  • @MilkToast said:

Out of curiosity but, what would be "instantly traversing the map"? Because most of the last 2 year killers have some mobility but its usually limited.

Vecna: Has fly. Is kinda fast but limited range and high cooldown.

Dracula: Decent mobility in Bat form. Has a teleport but its very limited (32m baseline and only into windows/pallets), the teleport speed is somewhat on the slower side (and you can see it coming) and has high cooldown.

Houndmaster: Has fast travel speed only following his dog path, again limited.

Kaneki: Could be the closest one to "instant traversing map", however if he hasnt bitten anyone then the 2 dashes so not cover that much distance.

Springtrap: Has teleport around the map but limited to doors. Also im not sure if i would call it "instant" because he still needs to go into a door and all the animation must go on until it goes outside the next door.

Krasue: Fast travel on head mode but still not "instant".

    Henry: The same as Krasue.

Honestly, Billy is one of the first killers and has faster travel speed than literally anyone on this list. And as long as he doesnt collide into anyhing (map dependent) he has infinite fast travel speed.

And about the queue times, i think its region dependent. Its been just some months since i played but some months ago during the day my killer times were a bit on the longer side but on night the killer times were instant.

I mean killers having oppressive chase powers and the ability to erase any distance you create by them misplaying/getting outplayed at a tile. Billy has been buffed to be near this category. Having longer curve window and bloodlust on his power removed most of his counterplay and made him another predrop or die killer at most tiles.

Whether it takes 5 seconds to catch up or 2 doesnt matter. When you completely outplay a killer and then any mistakes the killer made are immediately erased it doesnt feel rewarding to play against. And dealing with killers like that require more resources.

This applies to every killer on your list plus Blight, though vecna and springtrap are the least egregious because their chase power isn't oppressive to the same degree as the others. Houndmaster is hard to judge as she's been bugged forever but she has decent counterplay at loops in my experience.

Edit: I would exclude springtrap as his mobility is heavily restricted to the doors similar to freddy. He can't just continually cut you off mid chase.

No, I'm making a sarcastic argument but it is being done in good faith. I hate chasing people around tiles and find looping to be the most boring mechanic in DbD : chasing people in circles is a game for dogs and children. I also think the hook pulling is fine as it creates unhookable dead zones temporarily that can be survivor exploited as a counter. Revert the maps if people like, it doesn't bother me.

I would be fine with reverting the maps, yes. 100%. I think I have learned to live with pallet density and vault density because if you complain about it you get downvoted into the dirt. I just find it particularly ironic that the moment those factors can be harnessed by a killer, everyone suddenly agrees there are too many. There's a hypocrisy at work here and I feel obligate to call it out.

I mean it quite literally. I'm more than slightly agitated at the way people were shouted down when they claimed pallet and vault density was an issue, insulted and demeaned for it, and now suddenly people are on board to address the problem. It was fine when it was a survivor resource, and was fairly distributed and wasn't by all the gens, etc - but the moment a killer harnesses that resource, now they are too many, now they are near gens, etc etc.

You're not being shouted down, people just disagree with your opinion. When practically every new killer in the last 2 years has been designed around instantly traversing the map and then chasing with anti-loop powers, survivors need resources to stand a chance. If you can't see the insane powercreep in terms of having every possible aspect of killer powers (basekit slowdown, anti-loop, mobility, information) rolled into every new character, and connect that with map design issues caused by it, idk what to tell you.

They literally had to add play while you wait to 1v4 mode and killer queues are still 10 minutes. Maybe survivor doesn't feel great right now for a big enough portion of the playerbase to significantly effect queue times. And this wasn't just from the Jason release. Survivor queue has been instant almost all day and night for months now.

If you don't want your opponents to be able to express skill in chase, then what is the point of playing a PvP game?

Imo, that could also be an option… I mean… technically, he is a 4.4m/s Killer… but since he gets 20s (or so) 4,5% haste (with 12s cooldown or so), he's basically a 4.6m/s Killer, no?

    4,4 + 4,545% = 4,59998 m/s, right?

    Yes, 25 seconds.

  • @NeverSolus said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4089762#Comment_4089762

You're right. We should really nerf vault and pallet density. Previously people downvoted anyone pointing out that there were too many. I'm thrilled to see we're beginning to see that the density of these interaction points is problematically dense and frequent.

I'm sorry you think chasing someone around empty tiles is a fun and skillful interaction. I presume you also want to remove hooks because its too easy for him to reload? And by reverting vault and pallet density you also mean restoring all the shrunken maps and nerfed main buildings that went along with it, right? Because you're making a 100% honest and good faith argument right?

  • Would prefer ditching perma haste but if that's not an option, a meaningful cooldown would be something.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/468727/jason-balancing-needs

Literally just crouch. If you crouch, he doesn't get to know where you are. This is another situation of people refusing to learn the counterplay. I'm doing just fine against him most games because when he goes into his mode, you just crouch and you are completely immune to the jump scare.

And on top of that, you can crouch walk.

Yea just crouch walk while someone is on hook, making zero objective progress. Meanwhile, Jason has crossed the map, triggered 4 slowdown perks, and can instantly return to hook to tunnel if everyone decides to "do nothing to counter the killer's power".

  • @drag27 said:

sry but theres nothing broken about O-P's duration. he can stay in O-P indefinitely, so what? its not like he can emerge on top of you, it has to be on a pallet, window, or breakable wall.

He can't emerge on top of you just at any of 200 locations evenly distributed throughout the map while knowing where you are

  • The current bots just exist to make a loss last longer

  • @Abbzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4088584#Comment_4088584

So he makes you scream like doctor, but you shouldnt be in locker whoch is clear bug.

His ability is called jumpscare so scream here makes sence. Jason doesnt look that strong like he is just like springtrap with better mobility but harder m2 range attack. He got nerfed in ways that were stronger than his detection.

Idk he's basically old spirit with infinite power and a ranged attack. killers are seriously way too used to overpowered new killers if this is considered weak. I'm not sure how he'll settle in over the next couple weeks but got steamrolled by any of them that knew how to play tonight.

  • Slugging Kaneki needs to go

    Fixed it for you

  • @brewingtea said:

The majority of veteran players chose their characters (usually survivors) based on their current voice.

There's no way you could possibly know this, but even if it was true… just… do that again? Pick a different favorite based on the updated voices?

If you're willing to quit a game because they changed the voice of a character you like, that's your prerogative, but you know they aren't going to accommodate you, right? They are never going to give "dialog changes" the same weight as you currently are.

I would never tell someone to stop doing something because it's weird, but you do know it's weird, right?

If its not a big deal then why change it?

I love the idea personally as someone who enjoys the stories and characters of DBD, there is a lot of casual players who love them.

I just think a lot of people on here love to complain.

Good news for you, there are plenty of new characters that have all the annoying millennial writing voicelines you could want. So we can leave the old characters as they are for the people who have enjoyed them that way for years.

  • @Chomperka said:

huh where are you taking this info from? No one said(yet) they are going to recast anyone. All OG voices belong to BHVR and their workers. Grunts are staying the same. They will just add dialogues.

And from personal perspective, i do not understand people who disappointed in that, isn't that boring to play same thing for years? Don't you want to see some new tweaks to your character-new cosmetics, voice, model change?

When the change is cringe repetitive one-liners that don't fit the tone of the game and no one asked for, its not something to be excited about. They've already set a precedent of fully revoicing characters with ST and it was very polarizing for the people that liked those characters as they were.

In the dbd 10th ani stream, they announced they were going back and adding new voice and lines to old characters that don't have them. They suggested it would be a slow process to update all of the old survivors and some killers.

I'm not against it for those who want it, but many of us also like the silent characters we are used to.

After years of playing a character, I don't want them to suddenly sound different or have a completely different voice to what I imagined. Even worse if I don't like the new sounds/voice.

A huge problem with this is what happened with Steve and Nancy, where not only were new spoken lines added, but all the old screams etc were changed too. I know multiple friends stopped playing Nancy / Steve because they didn't like the new voices.

I don't need Kate making some stupid comment every time she gets unhooked sounding like Sandy Cheeks or some #########.

Exactly. You shouldn't have to use a perk to even COMPETE with a killer. Hence nerf all killers A tier and above, then you can remove shoulder the burden.

And since you think your argument is a gotcha, please direct your attention to: pain res, corrupt, lethal, dead man's switch, surge, almost every iri addon for killer, noed, no way out, etc.

I'm so damn tired of having to stare at the wall for 20 seconds every time a teammate gets picked up because I have to anticipate the gen exploding/blocking multiple times.

It was actually so bad people were saying killswitch streetwise on overwatch posts XD

While legion is killswitched for the entirety of the blood moon event only for bhvr to announce, while he’s still killswitched, that he wouldn’t be returning to 2v8 and half of the roster likely will never come to 2v8.

yeah you’re right killers are just whiny babies who want everything on a silver platter.

Now tell us how long it took for Merciless Storm to get killswitched

  • So it will be limited to a max of two uses per match, have a 50% chance of getting screwed by ping/server lag, and share a cooldown mechanic with a strong category of perks?

Or maybe people should learn to accept that some changes are necessary for the health of the game (not haste stacking removal specifically, just in general), instead of throwing a fit and proclaiming that ''nobody asked for this'' whenever something gets added or gets changed that they don't personally like.

Also i guarantee you, the people who hated haste stacking removal will also hate hard caps too.

You're giving a huge benefit of the doubt to a team that hasn't earned it. A change that affected none of the meta builds on either side while nerfing niche fun builds for both sides is "healthy" SURE.

"Don't think! Just consume product and get excited for next product!"

  • Then maybe they should stop doing things that people hate.

Also, I don't remember them ever testing hard caps. I only remember them removing haste perks from stacking with each other at all.

  • Hard caps make way more sense than this stupid system.

That's a skill diff on the survivor end tbh if the average survivor mains weren't complete dog water they would not need the extra wank. Take WoO it's a training wheels perk to learn lay outs. If players were actually learning they'd take the perk off no? Controversial take I know but bad players shouldn't be able to win it is why I was always on board with blight nerfs byw

Yea you got Ghoul and Krasue the king & queen of autoaim no skill free hits, multiple anti-loop plus catch up for free whenever you get outplayed killers, make-a-wish myers rework, all in the last couple years, but survivors have "training wheels".

however, WoO is stupid and should have been nerfed years ago. 5 Steps Ahead is another badly designed perk. we don't need the giant RPG quest direction arrow for chases.

  • Yea killer is so weak survivors have instant queues on every server

    image.png
  • Spirit needs the cherry blossom add on reworked. There's no way to know if she's using it and it removes any ability to mindgame her power.

    Ghoul is still insufferable.
