Because actions speak louder than words, and they speak a lot, but not much action behind that. Bugs upon bugs upon bugs, but the survivor sided ones are jumped on within a few days. Balance issues that go on for years, and they only now start doing anything about it, and again, start with a killer sided bandaid. M1 killers? Lounge in the bin for, again, years.
The forums are a place to vent, and in a game like this, there's a lot of venting. Can't stop that. And yes, balancing a game like this isn't easy, but there are blatant, in your face, screaming in your ears changes that could be done, yet they ignore. Maps are the number one issue, but they're ignored for small, bandaid fixes, because that doesn't require as much money, time, or effort.
Maybe if the devs were faster? I've played games were weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly balance passes are made. BHVR does it every, what, three months? That's a lot of time to sit between balance changes, and even then, half of what they do just aren't cutting in. I don't know why they designed the game in such a way that they can only balance once every chapter, but it's dug them into a hole.

And yet you have done nothing to fix her game breaking bugs that make it impossible to move or blink.
I wager part of her buggy nature is due to dedicated servers. Which, until the devs figure out how to streamline them, those bugs will remain. The other half have been with her for years. Devs either don't care to fix them, or don't know how.
As for her 'rework,' it was half baked. Half her addons are memes, the other half very situational. The fact that one of her Iri addons turns her into an M1 killer had to be a joke the devs were having. But that's fine, for the most part. A killer should be strong without addons.
The CC, though. . . that makes me believe they simply ran out of ideas, and needed to add something else. Remember, they clearly said 'small tweaks' and 'mostly numbers' when we freaked out that they were going to turn her into Legion. Then they go and raise her skill ceiling even more. So, yeah, I can see how they wanted to bury Nurse so they didn't have to deal with her. It's not like we'll have much else to go on, as they won't actually say anything else other than 'I promise the reason for the rework was not to make people stop playing her' with nothing to go after that.
-
I don't know if they're banning, but man. . . if they were, it would set a clear double standard. We had to deal with the sprint burst exploit for, what, two months? They didn't do anything about that. If I remember correctly, it was asked multiple times why they can't just fix it, and their response was 'we create new builds for each chapter, and fixing something mid chapter would require us to rebuild the entire chapter,' or something along that effect. But then, this is a killer issue, so if they do ban for it, I wouldn't be surprised. Didn't they ban for the old Legion bug?
-
Hello Random, I am not your father.
But bullying is bad.
-
Can you imagine complaining about a perk that is entirely in the survivors hands on if it activates or not?
-
Lobby dodge. They obviously don't want a real match.
If you want to suffer through it, Franklins. Bring NOED, since those gens are going to fly. Tunnel the key holder into the ground.
-
NOED is a gamble. I think survivors expect to see it on certain killers over others. I know they get surprised, enraged, and trash me when they see me using it on my Plague. Good times.

Because they can't relax and play the game for fun.So this is why they always end up being ultra salty and criticise the other side.
Killer mains can't 'relax' when the game actively punishes them for doing so.

If the sabo changes go through, then every killer was nerfed.
-
For about a week or two. After that, not so much, and definitely not in high ranks.

What bug didn't they fixed for 3 years?
Sound bugs. The bugs Dedicated Servers bring. Killer lunge. The entirety of Nurse. But then, those are killer bugs, so not as high a priority.

*hooks a survivor and turns around to leave or maybe kick a gen nearby*
-> someone literally starts unhooking them in my face
-> i hit the unhooker, but they get the animation done
-> BT guy bodyblocks for the unhooker
-> i am forced to go for the guy that just made a huge distance, as the other one has DS and is probaply already sprinting at a locker
-> i just got heavily punished for their massive misplay and lost all progress i had previously made
but yeah, just dont tunnel, 4Head.
This right here. I have a problem with BT because it encourages these kinds of plays. You're not camping, you just hooked the guy and he gets a free pass. Then you have dedicated servers that throw a wrench into it. I swung at an unhooker from behind, yet the server decided, 'no,' and had the hit register for the hooked survivor, completely bypassing the unhooker.
Personally, I feel BT should have some kind of token based system. Maybe requiring a certain amount of safe unhooks, or heals, before activating. Or if the unhooked survivor is hit, the rescuer receives the damage. At least something that actually makes it a risk, and not a free pass.

Don't worry - When they use a wiggle macro to completely negate your power, you'll know what game you're playing @_@
Can't the anti-cheat system be coded to detect macros? Or even putting a limit to input speeds?
-
@snozer Heh, good point. I'm a firm believer in actions over words, and considering they've done little int he way of actually fixing her, I'd say what you said is pretty much on point.
-
Probably not. The devs are happy with where she's at right now. if they got around to fixing her bugs, survivors would see it as a buff, and rage again.
-
I've had matches where I want too, but no. If I really feel like it's a lost cause, I'll just stand by the gate and let them out when gens pop.
-
I have trouble seeing it as well, depending on the character holding it and their position in the line up.
I still feel the lobby should have a section that lists items being brought in.
-
Umbra. Umbra's adorable. 'Hello gamers! *Hatchet to the face*'
Otz as well.
-
I'm sorry, was this strung through Google Translate? It's not very legible.
If you're saying that you caught somebody cheating, you should report it. I know some cheats can get through, a streamer I follow caught one himself a few days ago. But unless you report it, it won't be seen.
Now, it is unlikely. Dedicated servers cause a lot of issues. The survivor may have had a really bad connection, and it showed with teleporting. I've had it happen myself.
-
Because the good cosmetics cost money?
-
Before last rank reset, I pushed to make red ranks, simply to honestly say I've been a red ranked killer. Now, I'm not worrying about it. Too much sweat to get there, and maintain it. Still wish matchmaking didn't keep putting me up against red ranks, though. . .
-
I really do like the aesthetics of the map. it's simply far, far too large.

The reason they seem to be okay with it seems to be because there is no way to battle it. If they took peoples claims that so and so were using mics they would have to start banning based of heresy and that would result in a huge mess.
They can't really buff solo because in turn they will buff the perks SWF use making them that much stronger. Yes they could buff killers but then that would make solo players weaker. You are right they are stuck between a rock and hard place.
I am not against voice chat but if added it really needs to be done right. =)
I know you can't do much about voice comms, but players still need to go through the games matchmaking, right? Get into a lobby, invite your friends. So, the system recognizes you're a SWF. At the very least, you could give a new marker to teamed teammates, as a sign that they are indeed a swf. Yes yes, I know the devs go 'but that would promote lobby dodging!' but really, so what? They can't balance SWF in its current state, yet are okay with the rest of use putting up with their shenanigans.
The disparity between solo and SWF comes down to information. Again, I know perk changes can never really match comms (which is why I believe the devs dug themselves into a hole when they implemented SWF), but some perks could be adjusted. The Kindred buff was good, I can see a few other perks doing the same, such as a totem counter to Small Game, or even shrinking Detectives Hunch range, but giving group visual on the auras shown.
At the very least, they could give a bp boost to solos/killers who have to deal with a SWF. Give incentive to NOT lobby dodge. Heck, maybe even a SWF sided action speed debuff, I don't know. The point is, you can't counter comms, but you can at least give solos/Killers an indication of what kind of match they're dealing with, and plan accordingly.
-
Cucked grabs. O, do I get steamed when I'm in the middle of grabbing, and the game says Nope!
Body blocking. I get why it's done, but it still annoys me. I'm eight feet tall, can crack thick pallets in half, and projectile vomit acid, yet I can't shove that scrawny Meg to the side?
DCing early in a match. I then feel obligated to turn it into a farming match.

Why should window tech get "fixed"? It is a skill full move that doesnt have any huge benefit. Its really risky thought, if you are smart enough you will hear the footstebs and get a easy free hit. That move grants alot of free hits and is overall not really usefull. It only works on less experienced Killer but with that argument you could say that 360 are op aswell...
Because the killer model shouldn't be able to be phased through when vaulting? I get that it's an issue with the actual vault mechanic, but it's idiotic. Much like the hook tech.
-
Survivors control if NOED activates. . . I don't think I'll ever be able to understand the thinking that it rewards 'bad' killers, when they themselves dictate if it gets into play or not.
-
They haven't even fixed the window tech yet, and that's a minor issue, so I highly doubt it.
-
I think the devs are 'okay' with it because it brings in players. So long as that's the case, they won't make any solid effort to balance it out. Actions speak louder than words, after all, and their actions are pretty lacking.
In all honesty, I don't think the devs can, or will, ever be able to balance it out. The game simply is not designed for the level of coordination it brings, yet they can't axe it, or they'll drive a good chunk of their playerbase away. Rock and hard place situation. Now, they 'could' bring solos up, and buff killers following. We saw with Kindred that it can work.
But these are some of the slowest developers I've ever seen. Weeks, months, years between balance changes, and even when changes do come, half the time it's half cocked and not even what the game needs. So, any genuine effort put into balancing swf, and bringing the rest of the game up to it, is pretty much a pipe dream, unfortunately.
-
Nurse is basically one walking bug that the devs either refuse to, or are unable to, iron out.
-
I'm a masochist.
-
Are they really, though? There's a hidden skill rating being added, which is just taking the place of ranking. Just, you know, hidden. We we can't fuss over it. Same deal, different name.
-
Why put in a stressful match as a red ranked killer when you can have an easy time with your red rank swf survivor buddies?
-
Devs kinda ignore that SWF is a thing. It's why we've had only one perk change to bring 'solos up to SWF levels,' and not a word since.
-
I do it myself if I see more than two toolboxes. They obviously want to M1 a gen for three minutes and leave, so I give it to them.
I'm not holding the game hostage in any way, not being toxic, not making somebody elses time miserable, so, even if it's reported, there's nothing to go on.
You're fine.
-
Had a match earlier against two OoO users who took us to Autowreckers, while I was Hag. I can tell you that it wasn't a pleasant experience.
-
I don't think SWF players get it. A simple 'there's a trap to my left' or 'I'm hitting this jungle gym' is incredibly powerful in a game meant to keep players in the dark. Most SWF groups might not be toxic tactical tryhards, but any information passed on comms is a huge advantage, no way you try to talk around it. Does that mean all SWF players are god level? No, of course not. That doesn't mean they can make a killer/solo's life miserable by playing the game with an additional perk that a killer/solo can't get around.
It still boggles the mind out far in the sand the devs have their heads that they fail to address this chasm of imbalance. Sure, they may make a post here and there about 'wanting to bring' solos up, but actions speak louder than words.
-
Depends. Are they on last hook? Then no, you're in a better spot, especially if you're healed. If they don't know you're there? Well, can't blame them.
-
@Demogordon_Ramsay A bad chase isn't on the gen times, though, that's just chase mechanics. That's where perk builds, map awareness, and pressure come into play.
Again, I'm not saying gen/objectives shouldn't be looked at, but it's maps that are the overall issue. If you could tone those down and rework tiles, you would get a much better picture at gen times.
-
Ignore them. Seriously, you ignore them as much as possible during a match. If they're following you around clicky clicky, that's one less survivor on a gen. Just make sure you face a wall when picking somebody up.
If they're teabagging you at loops, and you can't mindgame them, leave. Find the weak link in a team, and gun them down. You might be able to find the teabagger out of position later.
Gen rushing isn't on the survivors, unless they use multiple toolboxes. If that's the case, do two things. Either lobby dodge, OR stand in a corner, back to the map. Don't play the match. Since real gen rushing was their goal, give it to them. They'll probably hunt you down and vault spam or clicky clicky behind you, but don't do anything. If you look at them, you give them chase points. Could even alt tab. When all gens pop, open the gate for them.
The point is, if they are following you around attempting to get a rise, the best thing you can do is to ignore them. People like that live for the validation, and it sours their mood when they don't get it.

I don't understand this blatant falsehood. The issue isn't map balance; the issue is that three Survivors can be on generators at the same time while you chase one. Regardless of the map, three efficient gen-pushers can pound insane portions of the objective in the time it takes for the Killer to hook one person who sucks at looping. Gen times are insane, no matter the map.
Consider this. If maps were smaller, if loops were looked at (so you didn't have an infinite move into a jungle gym move into another jungle gym, for instance), a killer could more effectively patrol gens. More gen pressure, more pressure on survivors. A killer should conceivably be able to hit nearly every gen on a map in 80 seconds, not take 80 seconds to cross a map. Even M1 killers would be in a better place if they could hit all areas of the map easier than currently.
That doesn't mean gen times aren't an issue. Having three or four survivors on a gen should be looked at. But the base gen time of 80 seconds? That's fine in my book. Holding M1 for longer is just boring.
-
I could get behind this. Not just for the killer, though. Solo survivors should have a boost to their emblem points as well. Should be other changes, but we all know BHVR loves SWF, but also ignores them in the greater scheme because they know they can't do anything about it without taking a hit to the pocketbooks.
-
The Procrastinator
Power: A 50% base movement speed, where I'm drawn to any nearby comfortable resting object and can be distracted with shiny lights. When all gens pop, I gain the 'Omg Rush' buff, where I move at 200% movement speed with expose debuff on all survivors, but the power runs out after two minutes, bringing me back to base. I would then be obligated to open the gates to get it over with so I can get back to my chair.
-
Something dealing with the crows. Maybe being able to see through their eyes? Or a flight ability, where you could travel to various crows on the map while giving you an aerial view. O, and you could activate crows to slow down and/or debuff/damage survivors!
-
Thana, BBQ, Infectious, and Blood Echo/Dying Light/NOED. BBQ is swappable, depends on my addons. I like the exhaustion Blood Echo gives, but it's still meh. Dying Light is good if you can land the hooks with Thana. NOED counters the endgame cleansing. I'll be following this thread, though, since I want to shake up my builds for her.
-
Watch. Some dev is going to pop in and mention their 'new and improved' matchmaking system that's supposedly going to fix this. I don't see how. There just isn't the killer population for everybody, so after two or three months, however long their 'new and improved' system takes to balance out, we'll be seeing this again. Of course, we won't 'see' it, since they 'hid' the 'skill' rating. Probably because they know this already, but want to hide it under the bed.
-
Survivor. I'd say both sides are equally toxic, but it's far more pronounced as survivor, since it's four people at once.
-
Rank signifies time, which signifies at least some skill. Do you really feel 'skilled' by beating a yellow rank vs your purple/red?
-
I've always been curious about this. When a thread like this pops up, that points out that SWF goes against the game design, a dev will pop in at some point and say 'SWF was always the intention within the game.' So, my question is this, if that was the case, why wasn't a built in comms program added? Comms is pretty much bread and butter for SWF. If grouping was intentional, why leave that out?
Honestly, i don't think the devs really know HOW to balance SWF as it is currently. They've mentioned they want to bring solos up to, or near, SWF levels. But look how long it took them to change Kindred. And since then, they've done. . . what? Nothing. Again, I don't believe they really know where to go from there. Or maybe they do, but the amount of work in changes scares them, I don't know.
-
It's not. The devs claim their new matchmaking system will magically fix it, but I'm highly doubtful. There aren't enough killer players. What's the new system going to do, create them out of thin air?
-
I'm curious. They've said that 'SWF was always the intention' when launching the game. If that was the case, why wasn't a built in voice chat application launched with it?
