I do not consider perks as crutch.
I consider builds as crutch.
There are definately meta perks for sure.
If you have 4 meta perks, you have a crutch build as trainingwheels equipped.
-
I used to hate Haddonfield.
I still dont like it today.
But since the devs got addicted to indoor maps...
...it is just simply okay...

Legion...ugh...

Time to do gens and what? Give the killer a 2nd kill because you didn't have enough time?
It's time to stand up and speak up.
You know, actually "giving" a 2nd k to the killer is still better than letting it 4k.
Sorry, but im not feeding campers.
You can stand up, yell as loud as you can, but it would not make your statement good or right.
-
Campers will camp unti it pays off.
Its 2021 and it still pays off.
If you missed the latest dev video, they made it pretty clear they do not consider camping, tunneling, slugging as a problem.
Maybe its time to do some gens.
-
To answer your question;
Hope.
I think as im getting older, i become more and more optimistic and belive that things could change. I have no idea why. Probably because i would like to.
After 5 years it looks like i still belive dbd can change the things those needs to be changed.
I havent played in the last 2-3 weeks and i wont play until the update, but im still around.
For me, this point will be crucial.
If they fail with their MMR again and the matchmaking not getting fixed, i might need a new main game.
-
Prety gawd jabb so for.
-
Thats not gonna happen.
-
The main post a little bit overkill, but the threat is real.
Personally i met with only one hacker that was obvious. Reported with video evidence, hopefully action has been taken.
There was another russian i run into twice, he consistently went to player locations without reading perks against distortion.
I reported that too, but i had no real proof.
Probably, most hackers will "only" show off. Using it to their advantage without getting caught is not so easy. Acting like you are playing normally while cheating actually requires braincells that they obviously dont have.
If they would, they could realize that they can get the same result without cheating.

What you just said makes absolutely no sense. How is it killers feeling entitled to a 4k when they clearly deserved it? I am not saying "why gates exist?" or some #########. If you lost, you lost, you can get outplayed, out perked, etc. However, if I clearly won the game, I do not see why survivor gets that extra chance, or even worse, use a key to get several escapes during a game that they lost. Sorry to break it to you buddy but it's survivors that are entitled. You know that main argument I usually hear from survivors is that they feel that they deserve a chance to escape. Well ######### man, I think I deserve a chance to get a kill even when I lose, ya know? Why don't I as a killer get to insta mori someone when a gates are opened?
If you read it again, you gain a chance to understand what i said.
To be honest, the game is not that clear about what a win, or a loss is, since it is unable to properly determine the value you do through a match.
Because of that, people are setting up their own rules and clarify what they did through that.
If you think that you did enough on your last match, why do you still whining about that one escape? You know, that is one thing because you get called an entitled killermain. Im sorry for you, "man", but asking for a free mori is another (btw i would not have a problem with that idea tbh).
Survivors did not asked for the hatch mechanic. It was always a thing from the beginning. Maybe you cant remember that because you were not here at that time?
Probably you missed out the latest BHVR video too. They stated that they do not consider keys an issue as huge as killermains does. Keys are choosen approximately 2% of the matches, using it succesfully is a lower percentage obviously. You might meet several keys within a certain time as an individual, but these are the numbers overall, they said.
I dont say that survivors must always have a chance to escape. Sometimes they die, even with keys and they cannot escape because it is impossible under the current circumstances. Just as a killer cannot 4k all the dime.
I agree on that there are entitled survivors too. I agree on that if you say that the power role should be taken back a bit that was stolen by SWFs.
But if you want the other side to be weaker, instead thinking over what you should do differently next time, you are doing it wrong.
-
I use any map offerings on any role to avoid the indoor ones.

People use VPN to bypass queue times, which is understandable. However the servers aren't stable enough, so that's why you have been experiencing these issue with these players.
That is not an excuse to ruin others gameplay experience and/or gain advantage on purpose. That behaviour considered as an offense and should be punished.
I agree on that the system has some insufficiencies, but it is not a reason to ignore one problem because of another.
-
The hatch mechanic is a clear message to entitled killermains.
No matter what you do, what perks or addons you use, no matter how good you are, how hard you sweat, camp, tunnel...
...you CANT and you WONT 4k every time, becuase sometimes there will be one, who escapes.
-
I cant remember any full PC lobby since crossplay exists.
Most of the time a lobby consists 1 PC and 3 console players...but at least one minimum...(and dont tell me it is not on purpose...)
Killer is 50-50.
Yeah, leave crossplay on and enjoy a....quality....gaming experience...
Or turn it off, and you will sit in the lobby longer then the match will hold.
Damn, the feeling of a win-win situation is invaluable.

I've considered doing the same thing tbh. I don't know why I always get russians in my game if I'm in Portugal.
Same here.
The highest ping i got in a lobby was 1100. I made a screenshot and dodged.
Unfortunately, you might have good ping, the other 4 players can still have bad latency. You cant see theirs, cause it would make you dodge more, probably.
The matchmaking is not region locked, but ppl can still VPN if they want to.
It is not hard to realize an obvious issue, so the only thing i can think of is that they are just simply not capable to fix it.
-
I will never understand the addiction to hex totems.
Btw, hex totems were designed to be cleansed.
Its gambling, choose it and you choose the risk of loosing a perk, or more.
You are already lucky enough someone at the dev team loves the hex method.
However, there is no way hex totems getting blocked anyhow.
-
The fact most part of the playerbase crying about stuff they often feel getting hurt by individually.
Most of the ideas to "solve" those are stupid, useless, joke category or just simply bad.
You can not expect the main issues getting fixed if you keep your focus on diverting attention from those.
-
I just want offerings that prevents being sent to a specific realm....like this one...
Less time and effort than an entire rework.
Btw, you dont need to worry about it. All maps are getting reworked one day...none of them will be better than before, but a lot of things need to change so that nothing changes.
-
Do you know how rare to get a team in soloQ that is competent on gens as individuals?
Save, or do not save, but watching the killer facecamping is the worst thing you could do.
My mistake, going down under the hooked person is definately the worst scenario...and you can see that a lot.
Campers will camp until it pays off. Sadly, it still pays off.
One day they might stop when they get 1, max 2k per match.
Some killers will be still satisfied, no doubt...but first, you need to persuade the majority of the survivorbase to sit on gens.
-
Can they get rid of latency? No.
Do they have region locked matchmaking? No.
They sould.
I dont mind if you live in the middle of nowhere, you still can play with people living in the middle of nowhere with you, or stay away from games.
Sorry, but if you come to me to abuse latency with your VPN, i consider it as a third party software, so you have to be banned, period.
Unfortunately, it looks like there is no intention to do these...

There are some legitimate reasons though. I accidentally accused someone of hacking the other day because of latency. They finished healing in the basement right as I hit them, the character screamed, fell over, and disappeared. Apparently it happened on the survivor who was healing them’s screen too since they also accused them of hacking.
It turned out to be a streamer and watching the VOD they just took a hit right as the heal finished and just walked out of the basement. Definitely not what I saw on my screen.
A very good example of another irritating problem, that should not be ignored.
Latency was always a thing as itself and it still can be abused by players.
We still get matched with players from different regions.
Did they do everything to provide the same gameplay experience for all the players in the same match?
Nope, they did not.
-
Without a system that is able to determine precisely what makes a good/bad player good/bad you will have a hard time optimizing your content.
There is still no answer for the difference between the gameplay experience of killer, SWF and soloQ,
Want more variety? After these are fixed, you can start to rework 80% of the parkbase that is barely/never used.
To rework just one perk takes an eternity, having a perkbase where each perk has more or less the same value is just a dream.
They are also unable to decrease the distance between the best and the worst killer of the game (doesnt matter which ones they/you consider best and worst).
The worst thing is, it looks like there is no intention to do...so...
-
Hackers are rare, but exist.
I have video evidence about a serious one, but it does not mean that all of them will show off.
I have run into the same killer twice that consistently went directly to survivor positions without reading perks (plus i had distortion).
The first time it was only suspicious.
The second time it become obvious.
Reported, but i dont think action will be taken without evident proof.
And yes, the answer for your question is "YES"; it was russian...
-
Without preconception, it is experience. Some people always getting offended by, thats how human kind works, it always was.
As i can see, 80% of the playerbase is way under average.
60% of them has a globe next to their name.
40% dont.
When i encounter a player that is really good, they are mostly PC.
When a player has like 5-6k points in the end of the match, they are mostly console.
To make it simple, if you cant do gens and you go down within 3 secs, it does not matter you have a globe or not, you belong to the problematic 80%.
By the way, it is a funny fact this option is pretty much useless, since you get worse queue times with crossplay turned off than you had before when crossplay did not exist.
It seems the system does not prefer specific settings, console and pc are literally forced to play together, that leads the question to the poor matchmaking again.
Honestly, how often do you see a lobby with all 5 players are PC/console only?
Since crossplay exists...I cant remember any...maybe they were...but must have been damn rare...
-
Imagine human players not doing gens.
Imagine AI bots doing gens.
Impressive.
-
The list is way too long to share in a single post.
-
DC penality is totally fine.
It reminds me for all the game issues i should go and play something else because of.
Thanks for the DC pen, i actually go and play something else.
-
A lot of people felt that they turned on MMR in the background.
They stated it is not on yet.
Well, okay.
I hope they will share at least a part of those values the MMR based on when it becomes online.
Somehow i have a feeling MMR will hurt the variety. I can not explain it, i just feel that you will face with the same killers over and over again with MMR.
-
Region locked matchmaking.

How would you determine who is "casual", sounds like this would just lead to everyone being stuck in the same game mode again after a while. If there is a ranked and unranked playlist I think everyone should be allowed to play either.
They havent share any information how MMR should work technically. To be honest, i doubt they ever will. If you ask me, avg. seconds on gens/in chase per match values could be good information to tell you are playing well, or not.
Truth hurts as always, but if these values of yours are lower than a certain value, you re bad.
I understand your point, but some kind of restrictions are necessary, there is no other ways to consistently match players with the same caliber.
A casual could say that after playing ranked like "Okay, i dont have enough experience for this yet", but there will be always players trying to abuse the system somehow to get matched against another player that is obviously not that good.
That is a mentality you can not erase. The only thing you can do is controlling the conditions around it.
-
High ping lobbies, obviously.
Certain countries, occasionally.
Full console lobbies, occasionally.
Obnoxious usernames, occasionally.
SWFs with abusive names as a message, regulary.
Players i already met before and they were useless and/or toxic, always.
-
Agreed, in the case the system is able to ensure that people can not abuse it.
You can not play ranked if you are not experienced enough.
You can not play casual, if you are way more than a casual.
They might try encourage people with some stuff, but there will be always a cut of the playerbase that just want to d*ck on others.
To prevent this, you need force, like it or not.
But that would require a system that can determine your skill level corretcly.
That is a basic condition of a matchmaking that works properly.
I will be surprised if the upcoming MMR could do that.
-
I dont care about survivor levels, ranks, skins, items, offerings, until the point im sure it is NOT an SWF.
Check player profiles. SWF? Dodge.
I get 90% SWFs when i try to play killer, so i let that go.
Actually, after 3k hours...the game is currently uninstalled...for the first time in the history.
It has a good chance to stay like that; for a great cut of the playerbase the next update will be a critical point that might determinate the future of the game.
-
I give you something else.
In-game player profiles that could be checked during the lobby for survivor.
It could have more interesting stuff, but the two mains are:
- seconds in chase
- seconds on gens
X seconds average / match. And/or X gens done per match on average.
This number lower than 1? No problem, dodge. Boom.
Actually, these are the main values the matchmaking should be based on.
-
When you realize;
It does not matter how your list look like.
The gap between your first and your last is way too huge.
That is one of the major issues.
-
As it has been stated many many times, genrush is a purposly created phrase.
I just would like to remind you about that the majority of the casual playerbase barely touching gens.
If you face against an SWF you have a good chance to have a hard time right there.
In the current state of the game, joining the lobby as a killer, you basically accepted the possibility of the frustration that SWF creates.
It is what it is.
The only solution is: have a matchmaking that is able to match players with the same caliber, at least approximately.
I understand what was your point, but the way to get there is very different and much more complicated.

What I have been saying for a long time now, we do like mori's, they represent the source material, they are awesome but they have to be fair to a certain extend.
I dont want to equipe items or perks to get access to a mori animation, that is boring af.
Just make it so that when 1 survivor is remaining and all the gens are done, the killer can mori that survivor (no matter the hooks), if you down them they are dead anyway so why not go out with a bang?
Seems much more reasonable, but moris are just like the hatch mechanic, keys, noed; probably the devs will never give up on it. These are factors you might calculate with, but no matter how you play the game, sometimes they will just secure a kill or an escape, no matter what. From the devs side, this provides the illusion about that the game is not either killer or survivor sided.
-
Fun? Never was, never will. As a feature cool, but it was not used for what it was intended for.
Exciting? Some of them looks good, but thats all.
Scary? Name one thing in Dead by daylight that is scary for you.
With the update, basically it is useless now it is getting barely used. Useless, because entitled killermains can not use it anymore to fill their pleasure gauge.
Moris has been nerfed twice. Expecting that it could have a chance to get a buff, not a logical thread.
If you want the survivors to be afraid of something, you have to give back the main power role for killers.
And that stuff is pretty nasty to do from a day to another.
-
The latest mori update tells you pretty clear, there will be less executed. There is no reason to change it again. And that is totally fine.
-
Alright, to avoid misunderstandings, i will clear myself too.
I mean to say that it is just simply a bad idea.
Finding survivors is a huge part of the game, fixing spawning points for both sides like that kinda takes it away.
Basically, what you asked for is already done, since usually the killer needs to walk across the map, sometimes you dont reach the half and you run into one. If you do, but find nothing, you probably missed something.
Dont forget that, newer players will crouch into the first bush as they hear terror radius; based on the current state of the matchmaking i would be aware to make stuff like that.
Remind that, not all the maps symmetrical, either ways, if you are thinking about the map like it has two possible path, you are looking at it wrong. Once the survivors has experience about the patch between the spawnpoints, they could easily bypass you. Or, if you have enough experience as killer, you will find them. I think it goes on the same way today, right?
I will correct myself again. Your idea is not bad, it is just unnecessary, it would not change anything. Spending time and efforts on it would be a waste.
-
That makes no sense to me.
Genrush is a created phrase. You forget that most of the playerbase are barely touching gens. A lot of them makes 0 progress on them still...and this percentage become higher with crosspay (soori consolers...truth hurts as always). You call those smaller percentage as a genrusher who actually tries to do the objective, not just crouching in a corner.
There is only one question.
Are they doing gens, or not?
If they dont, killer is pleased.
If they do, yes, you might have a hard time as killer. Especially against an SWF.
There are no problems with spawns, there are no problems with offering in this case.
The problem is, after those nasty years, we still dont have a macthmaking that is capable consistently match players who belongs approximately under the same kaliber.
-
There are several maps i dont like, mainly the indoor ones, such as Lery's; cut the upper half of it and it is decent.
Honestly any of them could be fine, just keep midwich and lab away from me.
Every time i get those, my fingers are getting itchy on the "leave match" button.
A map banning system would be awesome, but i would ask too much, i guess. Offerings that could deny one specific map would be also cool, instead of the four blueprint offerings...those ones are...more situational than practical.
Sacrificial ward is a nice start, but even with hunting map offerings on the bloodweb, it is impossible to completely avoid the unwanted realms.
-
It is. However it is not - only - a "server" issue.
As a european, i just had a noneu guy, using VPN; the match had only garbage hits.
During the sacrifice animation somehow he DC-d/lagged out.
I was thrown back to the offline lobby; i got escaped, kept my items, addons, offering, killer had dc sign...
...and i got DC penality.
I reported it, but i know it is useless, since
- they cannot prevent players using third party software to abuse latency
- there is no region locked matchmaking. Even if noone using VPN, as a european you still can get paired with one chinese, one canadian and one american survivor, plus a russian killer (that is notoriously awful).
Agreed, dc pen system does not work 100% properly, but it is only the - negative - effect caused by, not the origin of the problem.
So, if something needs to be discussed (fixed...maybe) about the major issues of the game, here is the most beloved one: matchmaking.
-
@Mikeasaurus said:
I've noticed that during the day, killers are far more chilled and survivors are the same. The game is actually enjoyable. I think more killers play earlier to get some actual enjoyment, because once that sun drops, the sweatfest begins and killers begin to cower in fear again.
Totally true.
-
@Bumbus said:
I can guess that there are more killers than needed among people who play all the time, and people who play after their worktime aren't prone to get stressed by playing killers, so they play only survivors.
I could accept that as one explanation, but there is no consistency. One day i got literally instant killer lobbies all day. Next day, i managed to play 3 games as killer within 2 hours; at that point i gave up playing killer. They might messing with the matchmaking system in the background.
Additionally, today i have the feeling they turned the MMR on again...
Hopefully, im just paranoid.
-
Cause it seems - european - lobbies must be filled with russians.*sarcastic
-
Lack of creativity? True.
-
I would not say it is bad. There might will be people who see potential to master it.
That could happen.
The ability, that is just stupid, basically.
Especially with legion in the pot.
-
I confirm that this bug exists.
-
How do you explain something that does not exist?
