i try to do this challenge for 3 days, i can't , no one leave the place for gen for me, all are repairing, i make a build for this and i can't get 4 gens, only in 1 game i got 3 gens...and i need to do this challenge to continue
Get aura reading perks like bond. When you see a survivor on a gen go with them. Prove thyself is also useful.

A common issue that arises while discussing balance is the tremendous difference in tools given to SWF compared to solo. A suggested solution that seems to be quite common is to buff solo Survivors closer to the power level of SWF to make changes to Killers more applicable across the board.
I´m curious, what are your suggested buffs to soloq?
Allowing survivors to always see the aura of every other survivor at all times. Make kindred base kit. Rework every aura perk.

I really wanna know why the devs thought it was okay to implement cross-play knowing damn well that they can’t even optimize better frames for the console version. How long have console players have been asking for better frames? Let me start by saying I own dbd on Xbox and on my PC and pc players have it made. Better frames, little to no lag spikes, and better movement because of M&KB. Some maps and some killers can’t be played properly on console. Every played Lery’s on console? It’s a 10Fps slideshow, ever been hit by sloppy butcher on console? Game freezes while being hit. Even skill checks drop frames. I think this cross-play would be fun if they optimized console but I honestly don’t see the point of enabling it.
Then turn it off. I don't understand all of this complaining. If you don't like it. JUST. TURN. IT. OFF.

Are you sure 1 hour a day is enough? I've really been going for this rift because I've never made it to tier 70 before, I've played 1-3 hours every day of the rift so far, and I'm at tier 43... And I have completed all but 4 challenges so far.
I mean, i typically play an hour or 2 a night, sometimes 3 on the weekends. Sometimes i go stretches of a week without playing at all and i have yet to not get level 70 on a rift without spending money (other than "buying" the premium track)

guessing right or wrong is not good gameplay if it was i wouldve not spent my money on this game and just flipped a quarter over and over for entertainment
Why is it ok for most of the other killers in the game to have to play a guessing game, but when survivors have to do it, suddenly all hell breaks loose?

Right, but i'm saying it should count with FTP, because it gives a total health state. Also as a PSA in case nobody else knows.

We don't need your life story in orfer for you to try to make a point that's just as half assed as your assumption based off no ones experience but your own.
You missed the entire purpose and point of the thread.
gg.
No i didn't. You want more time. It's fair for me to bring in my own experiences because you did the exact same thing in your post. You brought up:
- "Current issues" (whatever that means)
- Crossplay
- Matchmaking Queues
Those are all based on your own experiences and not "anyone elses" either. Because i sure as hell havn't had any problems with "Current issues", crossplay, or matchmaking. In fact, matchmaking has been pretty solid since crossplay, so i dunno man.
You also brought up this:
There have been calculations that have been made in the past regarding just how much time/rift shards are needed to complete each Rift Pass/Tomes.
So i was pointing out the actual math which shows that, you need to complete 1 level per day. Based on how many shards you get from challenges and playing games, that means you are probably going to have to play about an hour a day. If you can't handle that, then don't buy the battle pass. Or, if you want the content, buy some extra levels.
Also way to completely ignore more other evidence i provided about how other games do it. Can you name even a single game that has a battle pass more fair than DBD? Go ahead, i'll wait.

How long have you played DBD, and how many hours do you have in the game?
I've played this game for two years, have over two thousands hours in the game, I'm at the point where I only play the game sporadically. I'm pretty sure a lot of veterans are in the same boat.
Not everyone has a 9 to 5 job, a lot of people work in shifts. After doing a night shift you just want to go to bed, never mind playing a video game.
I understand that, believe me, i do. But the point is if they made it any easier then what would be the point? If they made it take 1 hour a week, not everyone has the ability to do that either. at some point you have to make some kind of cutoff that says this is how many hours we expect you to play per week to finish the rift. The point is, that 1 hour per day, is really really ######### fair compared to what they could do.

I'm asking why though. Like, doesn't it get tiring being "that guy" who uses DS, unbreakable, adrenaline, deadhard? Like, sure perks like for the people, autodidact and solidarity aren't meta but they're fun to use.
No, it doesn't because i play to win. But now you show your true colors. You don't play to win, and you don't like it when others do the same. You are by definition: a scrub: free book that tells you why you are one from a game designer. You should read it so you can understand people who play to win a bit better.
http://www.sirlin.net/ptwHere is an excerpt from the book:
The derogatory term “scrub” means several different things. One definition is someone (especially a game player) who is not good at something (especially a game). By this definition, we all start out as scrubs, and there is certainly no shame in that. I mean the term differently, though. A scrub is a player who is handicapped by self-imposed rules that the game knows nothing about. A scrub does not play to win.
Now, everyone begins as a poor player—it takes time to learn a game to get to a point where you know what you’re doing. There is the mistaken notion, though, that by merely continuing to play or “learn” the game, one can become a top player. In reality, the “scrub” has many more mental obstacles to overcome than anything actually going on during the game. The scrub has lost the game even before it starts. He’s lost the game even before deciding which game to play. His problem? He does not play to win.
The scrub would take great issue with this statement for he usually believes that he is playing to win, but he is bound up by an intricate construct of fictitious rules that prevents him from ever truly competing. These made-up rules vary from game to game, of course, but their character remains constant. Let’s take a fighting game off of which I’ve made my gaming career: Street Fighter.
In Street Fighter, the scrub labels a wide variety of tactics and situations “cheap.” This “cheapness” is truly the mantra of the scrub. Performing a throw on someone is often called cheap. A throw is a special kind of move that grabs an opponent and damages him, even when the opponent is defending against all other kinds of attacks. The entire purpose of the throw is to be able to damage an opponent who sits and blocks and doesn’t attack. As far as the game is concerned, throwing is an integral part of the design—it’s meant to be there—yet the scrub has constructed his own set of principles in his mind that state he should be totally impervious to all attacks while blocking. The scrub thinks of blocking as a kind of magic shield that will protect him indefinitely. Why? Exploring the reasoning is futile since the notion is ridiculous from the start.
You will not see a classic scrub throw his opponent five times in a row. But why not? What if doing so is strategically the sequence of moves that optimizes his chances of winning? Here we’ve encountered our first clash: the scrub is only willing to play to win within his own made-up mental set of rules. These rules can be staggeringly arbitrary. If you beat a scrub by throwing projectile attacks at him, keeping your distance and preventing him from getting near you—that’s cheap. If you throw him repeatedly, that’s cheap, too. We’ve covered that one. If you block for fifty seconds doing no moves, that’s cheap. Nearly anything you do that ends up making you win is a prime candidate for being called cheap. Street Fighter was just one example; I could have picked any competitive game at all.

It's not. Everyone does and I'm really no exception but do you really need to sweat your balls off?
Define "sweaty"
If you have no problem with "playing to win" then why do you have a problem with how someone chooses to do that? If i use all of my resources available to me, i am in fact playing to win. You can't say you like one but not t he other.

What you're not taking into consideration is that not everyone can afford to play DBD every day.
I have a full time job where i have to work from home. I also have a young child who is going to school from home. Between all of that i work, i take care of my kid and spend time with my family, have time after my kid goes to bed to watch netflix or play a game or something with my wife and i still have a couple of hours every night. On top of that, i play other games as well, generally i dedicate an hour or so on average a night playing DBD.
If you can't find 7 hours a week to play, the battle pass is not made for you. Or, you can buy levels to keep up. That is your choice to make. The point i am making is that 7 hours a week is pretty fair, especially when you compare it to other games that expect you to play their game as a full time job in order to finish a battlepass.

Do you have an answer to my question?
How can I find time to do bones against a face camper, or an Iri Head Huntress, or a mori?
Against a facecamper you ignore the bones and do the gens. Now the killer gets 1k, but the 3 of you escape.
Iri head huntress is easily beatable, most of them are bad, but remember it limits her hatchets and she is going to really go for those hatchets to the point of ignore m1 most of the game. Use that to your advantage.
Mori is rough but is able to be dealt with. But you need to stop relying on all of your second chance perks. When someone gets hooked, that person should hide/do gens while a different person trys to get the killers attention. Do that correctly a couple of times and you got the gens done. Look at keys, killers deal with those all the time, a mori is just the killer equivalent of a key.

Seventy days [2 months 10 days] for four tomes isn't nearly enough, especially currently with the serious amount of bugs that the past 3 months has had.
There have been calculations that have been made in the past regarding just how much time/rift shards are needed to complete each Rift Pass/Tomes.
However with the current issues, Crossplay, Matchmaking queue's etc.
It's unrealistic and quite unfair.
As a veteran DBD player who has some time to grind, I find the various non-intentional obstacles that impeede a player progress too be far to intrusive.
Yes, free BP is nice. But it's not going to help the players who actually paid for their Rift Pass and have done all that they can to get all challenges done and to lvl 70.
Mathematically, each tome completion time has a max of 17 days to be optimally cleared [meaning to clear the entirty of the tome].
I'm not going to do the full markup of it, as you can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/dqoz6w/riftbattle_pass_number_of_games_to_tier_70/
Tl;dr Please consider either boosting the amount of rift shards per challenge completion or increase the alotted time from 70 days to 90.
Thank you.
Welcome to battle passes.
In reality though, of all the games i play DBD has the fairest battle pass i have ever seen. You have 70 days to complete it, it has 70 levels. That is 1 level per day. If you ignore challenges completely, it is going to take ~11-12 games to get a level. But challenges from the rift typically give you 3-5 shards. So, if you did 1 challenge a day, and played 5 games, you are probably going to get to level 70 before the end. Games typically last, 10 minutes tops so you are looking at around an hour a day of playtime.
On top of that, the rift costs $10 to buy the premium version. But here is the best part, if you get your rift to level 70 before it ends, they give you back that $10 so you can buy the next one.
Now take a look at other games with a battle pass.
DotA battle pass has an infinite amount of levels (although rewards repeat/stop at around 2k), and you can only get to about 150 before you run out of challenges and MUST spend money in order to level it up. I don't mean like, you CAN spend money to get faster, i mean it literally becomes impossible to level up for free without spending money. Now look at all the best rewards, they often show up in the 200-250 range with some more premium rewards being at 500+.
What about Valorant? Looks pretty fair for the most part, but its a bit sneaky. Each level takes a little bit longer to level up. Which means that you actually need to play more than it looks like. Until suddenly you are at the end of the battle pass and still have 20 levels to go but wonder why.
What about CoD? Generally suffers from the same thing that Valorant does. Every level takes more XP, so it is deceptive how long it actually takes to level it up. On top of that the challenges generally don't reward enough and you require more playtime to level them up.
Also, all 3 of those games don't reward you with the currency you used to buy the battlepass. So you can't effectively get your money back for playing well.
DBD is the ONLY battle pass i have ever seen that is balanced in such a way that i have the ability to finish it without paying money. On top of all of that, i only ever bought the 1st rift. The rest of them i have gotten for "free" from the cells i got from each previous battle pass.

Just do bones! I don't see the problem, if you don't do totems you're just being a lazy entitled survivor main.
These are all from the last week, by the way. Every time I've run into NOED it's been in one of these kinds of builds.
Sarcasm aside, could someone give me tips on how to find the time to "just do bones" on a map like Lery's when I'm a solo survivor against an ebony mori and/or face camping killer? Thanks.
Sounds like you have more of a problem with moris and iri heads more than anything. Both of which devs have stated they are looking at. Huntress is likely up next for an addon rework and devs are looking at moris and keys.
Also for those "builds" Other than the top one, the killer is using level 1 and 2 perks. It likely means that that are leveling that killer and don't have many good perks to choose from. NOED is good at all ranks and can generally be put on any killer, whereas other perks are highly killer dependent. When i was leveling a new killer i would often throw noed on because i had no other good perks to choose from.
Also notice how the first 2 didn't even break 15k bloodpoints. Hell the first didn't even break 10k. When it comes to emblems and BPs, killers are heavily punished for using a mori.
Also.
JUST.
DO.
BONES.

Please stop comparing DBD to a fighting game. There is nothing of the sort going on. You aren't conditioning me in the 15 seconds it takes to down you as Spirit. This also assumes I am completely incapable of changing how I play myself.
Also, to your comparison, it would be like if Ryu had no audio or animation for his fireball until it was already hitting you.
I understand it is a different game but if you are familiar with fighting games it is still a similar situation. And sure maybe Ryu does make a noise and has an animation, but it happens so fast that you generally can't possibly "react" to it, you must predict it. It is similar to how deathslinger plays as well. You can't physically react to it fast enough, so you have to predict it.
Also saying you can't condition someone in 15 seconds... most fighting game rounds last 15-30 seconds. You can absolutely condition someone very quickly. MAYBE i'll give you that in modern fighters a mistake is less punishing, but i come from a long time of playing SF2 and MVC2. In SF2 a single mistake or bad read would often cost you an entire round. In MVC2 half the cast has an infinite combo so one mistake means your character is dead, so you get 3 of those per match. In DBD you generally get 6 chances which is quite a bit more than i'm used to.

Like, there are times when there is a whole wall between us or the killer just hits a wall yet it still downs me. And there have been other times that things should have hit but it didn't. Okay, so you tell me that it is a mind game, how do I play in your simulator ?, because as far as I know these games are based on the information that your opponent gives you.
At what point does Spirit offer me information?
The nurse offers me information and from it I can do mindgames in the structures.
As a main nurse I have to study the survivor and bet what he will do (will he go straight or turn around?).
With the Spirit she just disappears, she doesn't offer any information but she does receive information about me... so that it was a mind game?
The same way you do in those games. I'll use Street Fighter as an example as i am familiar with that.
Take Ryu, in SF, one of the most basic characters. Generally his strategy is to use fireballs to keep you away, then when you get close try to punish you for avoiding them. How do you do that? Well an opponent can't react to a fireball at close range. It comes out too fast. In Street Fighter 5, a fireball from Ryu has 14 frames of startup. During that time you are performing an animation that indicates that you are throwing a fireball. The game runs at 60 frames per second. Which means to react to the fireball, you need to have a reaction time of 0.23 seconds. The world record reaction time is 0.15 seconds. The average human reaction time is 0.28 seconds.
That's not all though, a fireball has 31 recovery frames after it starts. Which means that you are unable to perform any action for 31 frames. Jumping over the fireball takes around 20-25 frames, depending on the character and their jump arc. This means that if you react to the fireball, you are probably reacting to the end of the startup frames, and you generally have about 5-6 frames to work with before the Ryu can do their own move. Well. Most jumping attacks have 7 frames of startup.
This means that even with amazing reaction time, you generally can't react to a fireball. So what are you to do? You need to make a read. You need to predict that they are going to a throw a fireball. But, here is the kicker, they could, NOT throw a fireball and then when you go to jump over it, now you are in the air, unable to block, and be punished. It becomes a "guessing" game.
But you aren't just guessing, you react to how your opponent plays, and you condition them. It's a lot like poker. You might condition them to think that you always throw 1 fireballs, then fake the second, then throw the third. So when they successfully read that you would throw your 3rd fireball. You have now conditioned your opponent to think you always fake the 4th fireball, and then when you get into that situation, you do something else. The next time, instead of throwing the 3rd fireball, you fake it. Then they go to jump over it, only, you aren't throwing a fireball, so now you can get a punish combo off of it.
That is exactly what spirit is but just for DBD.

How is that taking the game hostage? It's clearly a strategy for Survivors, just like camping, tunneling and slugging are strategies for Killers.
Taking you two hours to finish a game just means you're bad at Killer, no offense.
By definition it is taking the game hostage.

What a sack of ######### of a response that was, the OP wasn't complaining about his console but rather the lack of options when it comes to crossplay considering the state the game is in on console, which is 100% the fault of the devs and has nothing to do with the console lacking power for 60fps games. A completely valid complain, and literally everyone I know feels like this, so if you have nothing to contribute but the standard "disable it response" then ######### off because he almost certainly does have it disabled and just wants devs to include a console only crossplay option.
He has options. He can disable crossplay if he doesn't like it. His other option is to buy a PC. Vote with your wallet.

Wouldn't stun and puts me in a disadvantage cause the killer can
A) Walk around and hit me due to unsafe pallets
B) Destroy pallet easily without me getting enough distance
C) Is probably a legion and will fast vault hit me
If its:
A) Instead of camping the pallet then keep running, you aren't using the pallet for safety you are using it to block the killer so you can run somewhere safer. Or just get better at mindgaming the killers.
B) Again, keep running to go somewhere safe, if a killer breaks a pallet and all you do is hold w, it takes them 20 seconds to catch up. That's a long time.
C) If so, just mend in their face and then if they cancel power you revault the pallet and start another chase.

In the middle of a chase you know to go from looking behind you to trying to out predict what she’s doing.
Sure, she can’t stand at the other side of a pallet or window to trick you, but she can literally just undo her invisibility and pull off the Nurse bait blink trick to get people to vault into her. The difference is she has to work for it
Survivors still have to play like they’re Nurse and Spirit still has the advantage of having more information than the survivor.
No, they just need to make her phase during her power. For example, her power lasts say, 5 seconds. Every second, for .25 seconds, she phases back in and can be seen by survivors. On the flip side, she can also see survivors during that .25 seconds. That way its less of a guessing game and more about mindgames.

They played like crap, still could do 4 gens. Kate / Zarina just did something else, where not even tunneled, still forced their DS out by offensive plays you could not make without it.
Conclusion: Gen speed too fast and DS is not a anti-tunnel perk, it's just an excuse for survivors to be invulnerable for one minute.
Gens are fine except at the very beginning of the game. Once early game warmup is added it will be much better. This game is balanced for around 3.5 survivors which is why the start of the game feels so bad because the beginning of the game every survivor is on a gen.

Even when using the traps for pressure they never do ######### every survivor just gets there trap off at the first box and it doesn't take long to search a box. then you have another going for gens and they get it off when your in a chase with the person you said would be hooked so then I have 1 person hooked,2 on gens, and 1 going for the unhook and healing if they even decide to go for it because they think the other survivor might go for it. If the survivor doesn't get it on the first box they almost always get it on the second.
And now i know i can ignore you. RNG is RNG, it's not going to happen every time, but even if it did it still puts them in timeout for 30 seconds. If you aren't able to find another survivor and start a chase in 30 seconds you are doing it wrong. A chase (including finding the survivor) should last no more than 1 minute. As pig you can crouch and hide and get the first hit most of the time. Also remember though RNG works in your favor sometimes and it takes the survivor to the 4th box to remove it.
If ruleset 2 was base, then a survivor would just immediately hop on a gen after trapped. Ruleset 2 is actually bad. If i'm a survivor with a trap and i don't see the boxes, i'm just doing a gen, which means the traps become really bad for slowdown, sure you might get a headpop more often if you tunnel people with a trap, but you are going to lose more often.
Pig is a chasing killer, your dash allows you to end chases super fast most of the time, you shouldn't be using the traps for kills, but for slowdown. Pig is like clown where she can down super fast, but she also has slowdown unlike clown whose only pressure is getting downs fast.

New Addons: Iridescent Ambush
Ambush attacks now inflict the dying state
Available Reverse Bear-Traps are reduced by 4
Available Jigsaw Boxes are reduced by 4

New Addon: Weighted Combat Straps
Moderately reduces crouch activation time (0.9 seconds)
New Addon: Adjusted Timer
slightly reduces Reverse Bear Trap Death Timer (-10 seconds)
Conclusion: I really want something close to this as a pig main because I only get 1 Head Pop every 7-10 rounds maybe 2 without running Tampered Timer and Rules Set No.2. Iridescent Ambush would be a little OP but would remove the RBT's that round. Most Importantly in this buff is the Permanent Addition of Rules Set No.2. Iridescent Ambush was just for fun as an Addon but The Devs should remove Razor Wires and Workshop Grease because they work against her.(Also I know the picture for Iridescent Ambush is bad but I just didn't want this post to be plain and boring with only words)
The traps don't exist to give head pops. They exist for map pressure and to get survivors off gens. If you are using them to get kills you are doing it wrong. You should trap someone and then ignore them (unless they walk by you or you see them trying to remove it. But then you just slug them and move on. Playing this way, pig can often get rid of any gen stalling perks and use the traps only and have the middle game slow down immensely.
With only one person trapped you have 1 person not on gens, then the person you are chasing which is 2 on gens. When you get that down and hook now you have 1 person on traps, 1 person on hook, 1 person going for the save/healing and 1 person on gens. You basically give a survivor a timeout that lasts at least 30 seconds but on average lasts a little over a minute.

facepalm
ok.... what about people who already have all the perks on all the characters that they care about?
What about the people who got face camped. they aint getting any points
What about the people who didnt get face camped. no chases and no healing means no pip and no bloodpoints.
What about having a good game fro both sides? standing around staring at the hook isnt really playing the game, nor is hanging on a hook for 2 minutes.
What about the solo queues?
The last time they tried to fix camping, it was abused by survivors in a way that made it extremely OP, similar to how old legion would moonwalk to make deep wounds go down while still chasing you.
I do agree that camping and tunneling need to be fixed with a gameplay mechanic, but it needs to be done in a way that isn't exploitable, or, if it is, the game is rebalanced around in order to make it not awful for the killer.

Before this thread is spammed with ''do gens'' I ask you to read my post.
Let's imagine a scenario, 4 SWF vs a camping Bubba.
1- First chase ends just as the first gen is finished.
2- Bubba hooks and is facecamping, so the hooked survivor tells his teammates to rush gens.
3- A survivors takes 120 seconds on the hook to die.
4- A gens takes 80 seconds so that means 3 gens were done.
5- As the last gens is done Bubba is free again, but both NOED and Bitter Murmur activate and Bubba now has 10 seconds of aura reading plus NEOD.
This means Bubba can AT LEAST guarantee a 2k.
And this is if he goes against a really good SWF team.
Yes, all Bubbas who want to facecamp run both BM and NOED, these two aren't unusual perks to be equipped by them. Also, Monstrous Shrine and Blood Warden show up from time to time to guarantee even less time to finish gens.
What is the counter to this?
No, They don't care that they depipped
No, they don't find this boring and enjoy getting 3k-4k every match.
No, ''doing gens'' isn't the answer and you can't ''do bones'' either since there isn't enough time, and with Bitter Murmur is a guarantee 2k.
Imagine this with Solo Que? EZ 4k.
Imagine if the first chase ended early
Imagine if all 3 remaining survivors managed to finish all gens but all of them were on the last gen and NOED activates with Bitter Murmur
No need to imagine since Otz once made a stream about this and all of this happened and he got ez 4ks
Solution?
I believe hooks should change location if Bubba is facecamlping just like Pyrimad Head, maybe if all gens are finished it then hooks don't teleport for him.
What other solutions do you think can solve this?
He might get a 2k running a build like that but he isn't going to pip and hes going to get <10k bloodpoints. The game already harshly punishes these players but not letting them progress when they do it.

I didn't say that Moris aren't powerful. I said that having one generator completed already for using one is ridiculous.
Even with those changes i suggested a mori will usually happen with 2-3 generators done. Once you have 1 survivor gone, if there are 2 gens left, you are going to win. With 1 gen left the survivors still have a shot.

"generator is automatically completed" are you kidding me? 🤣 I'm a survivor main and I majorly disagree with this. The game would go by way too fast and the killer would probably barely get both Mori kills you'd allow.
I'm a rank 1 killer main with 1000 hours. Believe me, moris are too powerful, look at every other killer that has an iridecent addon. They always have some sort of downside for changing how the game is played. The iri mori basically makes the killer's objective faster, so the game is naturally going to be shorter, it needs some downside that allows survivors to still win within that short timeframe.

A Perk which counters DS would only be used by Tunnelers.
Tunneling and camping should be fixed as a core game mechanic though, not band-aided by a perk.

so I can't do what you did? I am the one that has to talk to you by YOUR rules? I followed the rules, read your post, replied to it with an answer that proved your assertion wrong, you then QUALIFIED it. I then showed you that the companies you listed aren't the white knights you have them to be. so no I will not talk with your rules, I will reply to WHAT you post and if you had come back and said: "You know, you made a fair point, but there are probably many others out there that match what i said." I would have said "Fair Point" as well. but no you have to tell me I picked the WRONG company and EVERY OTHER company is better than the one I picked... I showed you that you were wrong. Blizzard technically guilty of industrial espionage and copyright violation (not taken to court thus technically) and valve's miss deeds against it's own customer base and riot's miss deeds against their own employees at the expense of their customers. hmmm my point came across properly and you just don't like that you didn't make the qualification before I replied. lol that's why I'm laughing.
You are getting really hostile for no reason. I did not comment on the companies as a whole and what they do in other random situations. I specifically am talking about this situation. Imagine this exact problem happened in world of warcraft. Would blizzard just say "######### everyone who might have gotten it cuz we can't verify"? I very much doubt that, they would find some workaround to at least identify people who "probably" got it, and give people the benefit of the doubt.

I can't get behind that key nerf. The numbers are utterly ridiculous. If you're going to remove them from chest then there's no reason multiple people shouldn't be able to escape. If I bring in an item that cost me 7k BP (and we all know getting BP as survivor is the worst), it better do more than just let me out and it's ridiculous that I would have to sit there for 5-10 seconds to use it. It's a key. It goes in the lock and you turn it. 3 seconds would be a maximum. Anything more is absurd
You could make the argument that they are freaking out. You ever seen a movie where someone is trying to unlock their car when there's a killer on the loose? They fumble with the keys and it takes them a bit, then it turns out the killer is already inside the car. You get the idea.
Keys don't just exist to unlock the hatch though, they have addons that give you some powerful aura reading skills. People just often ignore those and use them solely for the hatch.
Also the bloopoint argument is bad, i don't think that should have a bearing on gameplay. I do think the grind needs to be fixed, but that is a different issue and i don't want to get into any "whataboutisms"

you said pick ANY other GAME company you didn't qualify it... why change it now? lol because I mentioned it, and I'll tell you this you are being a hypocrite to exclude any game company to compare what they would do and make it global... no you are only wanting to whine... but sure lets look at this:
Valve: hey we will ban you for things that someone else did on your account "CRIES! NOOOOO it wasn't me" SURE!!!! they are notorious for making things hard to work with and for making the customers feel unappreciated till THEY want to make them feel like there is a change.... not to mention banning people from their accounts and other single player games just because they made a cheating mistake on another game tooo many times...
riot games... look at what they harboured and then later got to be the heroes by sacking a piece of crap executive....
Blizzard.... STOLE the idea of world of warcraft FROM Everquest when they lured many of their devs away. lol more things to talk about...
so yea you can choose whom to like, my choice of companies is perfectly within your original statement! hahhaha enjoy the crow you need to eat now.
Now you are commenting on the companies as a whole. I don't care about blizzard stealing everquest. What i care about is that if they screw up, they give me my stuff back and give me the benefit of the doubt.

I guess EA (a game company) would have made those skins available for all?!!?? NOPE EA is all about the money.... not giving things out for free! the thing that most people miss in all of this is the legacy was specific to A CHARACTER, not just the account. the account didn't get legacy for every original character there was, but it was specific. I challenge you to find more than a handful of people that got legacy on all survivors or killers... HELL HOW ABOUT BOTH??? doubt you will find very many. so here is how it worked from my limited knowledge: get to P1, P2 or P3 by X date on a specific character and you get the legacy skin offered. if after that date you were sol!!! woo hoo!!!! can't get it anymore. Now did someone get a P1 jake but a P3 trapper? where is the records? there isn't from what BHVR has said here.
Now look at the Convention skins: they were never available on console, only on steam. Some you just showed up to get, some you did something, what ever but it wasn't like getting the damn legacy cosmetics. so they said we are going to strike a blow to the monitization of their FREE give away codes!!!!! $1000+ for golden feng! I laughed when I saw that myself. so here we are everyone gets it, some people paid a lot of money to people who are not BHVR to get these outfits... they are the ones that loose out lol not the people that dedicated time during a point where the game was broken as hell and honestly surprisingly got out of that!!! lol was funny to see some of tru's vids from then.
so let me see would have to GIVE everyone a skin that was loads of work more so than it is now but leave the meaning still there... nope doesn't work because people like me never played till 2018 or later! I don't deserve the skin just because some had a bug! The other cosemetics? bah! they were free! pick up a code and enter into steam and blamo you got it.. oh i'm a console player I'll sell it for 1000 bucks! yea that's what I will do! lol...
I like how you mention EA, which is literally voted as the worst company in America almost every year. Try picking any other company that isn't hot garbage like i dunno. Valve, Riot Games, Blizzard. Hell even a mobile gatcha game run by a company called "Capital Games" which is OWNED BY EA will give out free stuff when they mess up.

Keys and mories have easy solution yet devs doesnt move an inch to change it.
For those who think what I mean:
Mories
Yellow Mori: no change, allow you to mori last survivor in the trial.
Green Mori:Allow you to kill a survivor that would die on hook instead.
Pink mori: Allow you to kill all survivors that would die in hook instead.
Keys
Keys can no longer spawn in a chest.
Green key: Keep the same.
Purple key: More charges, cant escape throught hatch.
Pink key:Allow open hatch.Only user can escape throught it. A bit increase in charges.
Killers wont be able to hook and mori a surv and killers wont have unfair escapes of surv throught hatch.
So devs what are you waiting to fix it?
Death hook moris would make moris pointless. Many mori animations take longer than it takes to hook someone. On top of that you wouldn't be able to gain the benefit of any hook perks like Pop/BBQ/Thrilling, etc. Moris also result in less points than a hook. What you propose would make moris a downside for killers. Here is a better change for moris and keys.
Fix moris by doing this:
- Make yellow Mori base kit. It's fun and changes nothing. If you are the last survivor and downed you are gonna die anyway.
- Make green and ebony Mori work off a token system. Every time a survivor is hooked you gain 1 token. Every time a generator is completed you lose 1 token. Once you have 3 tokens you can spend them to Mori 1 survivor.
- Green Mori still allows 1 kill
- Ebony Mori allows 2 kills, but at the start of the trial, the generator furthest from the killer is automatically completed.
- Moris are no longer secret.
You fix keys in a similar way:
- Keys can no longer be found in chests.
- Keys only allow 1 survivor through then the hatch closes.
- The key now has an animation and timer for opening. 5-10 seconds.
- Once the hatch has been opened by a key it can't be opened again for 60 seconds.
- If a survivor dies on hook while carrying a key it is removed from the trial.
This makes it so that survivors can gen rush a mori and take away their moris. It also means that killers who play badly wont get rewarded with a mori. It fixes keys by making it so you cant RNG one in the game. If you see a key, you can prepare for it and you have a way to eliminate it from the game without a perk. It also makes keys not a free escape for an entire team. It creates some interesting plays where a survivor on death hook might give their key to another survivor who is not to keep the key in the game. It also makes mori a bit fun because you will now see one in every 4k game, so killers who don't use moris might actually see the animations once in a while.

I admit, I did not read your post, but there is one thing which is clear:
Legacy was given to players who played the game in a time where nobody knew if it would survive. With more Grind, less BP Offerings and so on.
Event Exclusives where obtainable by playing the game. Yes, some people act like you have to sell your grandma to get those cosmetics, but nope, you just have to play the game. And there is no reason why someone who did not play DBD should be excluded.
Way different from Legacy.
The problem is though, is that some people earned legacy and it was taken from them. BHVR has made it clear that they have no way to verify or fix that. Look at any other game company ever and they would have chosen to make legacy available for everyone, or at least tried. Maybe if you had purchased the game during the timeframe legacy was possible, they just give it to you. They have things they can do, but they refuse to because they worry they will give legacy to people who didn't earn it. In my book, that is fine. It's the way the legal system works, it is better to let a guilty person go free than an innocent person go to jail. I also believe it is better to give someone legacy who didn't earn it, then not give legacy to someone who did earn it.

Is this reportable/bannable?
Just had a game where a wraith was afk until all gens were done then killed everyone in end game. He was using bbq, bloodwarden, NOED, and Rancor.
The only thing that is reportable in this fashion is holding the game hostage. Which can only happen if the game cannot end due to your actions. Since you were still able to do gens, open the gates, and leave, the killer didn't do anything that prevented the game from being able to end.
On top of all that, the killer would have been better off playing the game like normal, and getting a couple of hooks, and THEN bringing their endgame build. They just trolled and had a bit of fun. It is similar to the nurse build where you blink through an exit gate and wait.

This is a double standard a major one. If I were to say as a survivor main billy is op without playing him and not even playing killer in general I would be attacked. But I see people say slinger had counterplay then tell me they arent good st survivor and cant preform it themselves.
That's all I have to say just a double standard I noticed.
I have never seen that standard applied to survivors. They complain all day that spirit, freddy and billy (previously) are op, but never seen them play them.

I mean yeah, their opinions should both be taken on board as well as critiqued, same as everyone else, also what do you mean by evidence? footage of whatever is being discussed occuring or what?
Generally yeah. The typical thing i see is someone will talk about gen speeds or gen rushing or something of the like, then post of a video of tru3ta1ent. People then spend the time discussing how true is apparently terrible at the game or how they are ignoring the person because they post a true video. I did so a while back and got the same treatment. But people generally are posting these videos as evidence of problems they have also experienced, because, as i said, they aren't recording every game they play.
-
@OllieHellhunter said:

And that's completely fine as it's supplementary, as the OP put it 'Its okay to take their opinions into account and formulate your own'. I don't think many people would say that this is wrong in any way.
Thats not how people treat it though. I have also made posts where i discuss issues i see with the game, experiences i have had and then post a video of a streamer. Suddenly the conversation turns to how "terrible that streamer is" or "posted a streamer game, ignoring the post".
Both sides of the argument have a problem. People need to stop taking streamers words as gospel, but people also need to stop completely ignoring them and pay attention to what they are saying when they present evidence.
-
@Todgeweiht said:
Don't you have any sense of reflection? Do you just hear what they say and take it as granted? Are you incapable of thinking for yourself?
Its okay to take their opinions into account and formulate your own. What is not okay is to take their opinion and put them into a pedestal, spam their videos and take everything they say in them as an axiom.
Yes, I know it is a player a 100 thousand hours in the game, yes, I know it is a player that knows how to play very optimally, yes, I know it is a player that can 4k as clown 100 games in a row, does that make everything he says about the game true? No. Learn to think critically.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
I do have a sense of reflection. But when i have played this game for 1000 hours and have problems, and then see streamers who play this game literally AS A JOB have those same problems and talk about how this is a big problem for the game, then i see i'm not the only one with the problem. Then i start to think about it objectively and try to identify the root of the problem. Streamers help validate my opinions, and they often help me provide proof and evidence of my opinions, because of course they do. They are recording every game they play, so its easy for me to look back on their footage and see the evidence of my opinions.
Just because someone posts a streamer video, doesn't mean they are only taking that streamers opinion as fact. They are presenting the streamers experience as evidence because not everyone plays this game for a job and not every records every single match they play.

Damn, that really sucks. I spent so much time on this possibility, even named my account after it. Your right, it essentially means piracy is legal. Its all in the long version.
To be fair, it isn't entirely impossible. It could be that SCP blackout made some kind of deal with the SCP foundation and they were able to get a different kind of license for it. If that is the case, then it is always possible for BHVR to make some kind of deal. I don't disagree with you though, an SCP killer would be pretty sweet.
-
@SCP_FOR_DBD said:

That seems to only apply to games that use a certain engine. SCP Blackout costs money and I don't think the assets are open to anyone.
I don't know how they got away with it. Either that or their game is able to be distributed for free (I.E. pirating it is not illegal)
Please note: if you are not a staff member, do not take licensing issues for offsite work into your own hands. If you direct the creator or operator of an incorrectly licensed fan work to this page or suggest that they talk to staff, that is fine. Similarly, if you alert the Licensing Team to the issue so that they can deal with it, that is also fine.In order for your derivative work to be kosher, you need to do two things:
1. Attribute the works that you're using to the wiki and to the specific author, if possible. For example:
682's Lovely Tea Party is based on "SCP-682" by "Dr Gears": http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-682
2. Add the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license (or CC-BY-SA for short) to the derived work. Doing this will release it under the CC-BY-SA license. Specific release statements may be found under the "For Specific Creator Types" tab.
Releasing it under the CC-BY-SA license means that people will be able to copy your work wholesale, and even sell it, provided that they properly attribute you and release their work under the same license.
Do not sell anything related to SCP-173. The image is not released under creative commons. Depending on the context, commercial use of this property may result in serious legal action against the seller.
See the final tab "A Word on SCP-173" for more information.

I struggled with making this post. I don't wanna beat a broken horse and make a mini FNAF situation but I also really wanted to talk about this. I figured that since this is my 1000th post here I could get away with it. Sorry for it being so long. Also, get ready to hear SCP a lot.
I'll copypaste my SCP explanation for those who don't know
What Is SCP?
I see this asked a lot so I figure I should give an explanation for those unaware. "Within the website's fictional setting, the SCP Foundation is a secret organization entrusted by governments around the globe to contain and study anomalous individuals, entities, locations, objects, and phenomena operating outside the bounds of natural law. These vary in threat level; It can be a monster capable of killing humanity (SCP-682), It can be a be a statue that kills you when not looking a it (SCP-173), or it can be a toaster that makes you think your a toaster (SCP-426)." Thats the best I can give you. If you want something more in depth I give you this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6QVvBIBZLc (Its pretty long, but explains SCP better than I ever could)
Onto The Actual Topic
Anyone whos seen a lot of my comments or even read my name knows that I really like it. But what are the chances it will find a spot in DBD? I'll split it into pros and cons.
Cons
• The Creative Commons Licence Is Weird
For those unaware, SCP uses a creative commons licence that stops one rights holder and allows the public to officially use it for free, while this can work in BHVRs favor if they do decide to put it in. Its also a complicated loop that BHVR would have to look through a lot to make work
•Making A Good Concept Is Extremely Hard
While the thousands of SCPs make for near limitless possibilities, it could also make for near limitless complaints. Games like SCP SL have shown that a short list of the most well known and iconic SCPs make a pretty damn good game. I made a concept that I think could work if anyones interested (Shameless plug) https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/177754/scp-concept-chapter#latest
•Not Enough People Know What SCP Is
This is by far the biggest problem, it doesn't matter how great something could be, because the competition is so much bigger. The most speculated licences right now are as big as F13 and IT for christ sake, meanwhile I had to precautionarily explain what SCP was at the beginning of this post.
Pros
•SCP Is Free And The Devs Would Have Complete Creative Control
While the CC SCPs uses is pretty complex, its also free and allows the team to make as many cosmetics as possible. And they can still sell it if they gave credit to the writing.
•It Doesn't Need To Be A Full Chapter
While it would be a sick chapter. The lack of any real survivor identity could mean that the team gives some OC characters D Class and scientist skins and doesn't have to spend time on perks. And if the team doesn't want to make a map they don't have to since Hawkins is so similar.
•People Like It
All of the discussions I've heard against SCP have been very tame, I have never heard a single person say something like "SCP sucks! I hope it never comes to the game!", its almost always something along the lines of "Maybe later, but theres some stuff I'd rather see first.".
Conclusion
SCP is probably the most unique option DBD has in terms of licences. It has tons of benefits that other licences don't have, but it also has a ton of hurdles other licences don't have. It seems like the best option for SCP would be to have it introduced a few years down the line, when the competition isn't so massive and SCP becomes even more well known. Thanks for reading this and may you have good luck in the fog.
SCP will never happen due to the licensing for them. You have to allow people to have access to and modify the content for free. You can "sell it" but you legally have to allow them to use it for w/e purpose they want. This is borderline a copyleft license, which, unlike copyright basically is a poison that infiltrates your entire product. If you put a small piece of copyleft thing into your product, it effectively legally requires your entire product to become free.
