Unless they remove most of the sounds ghostface makes and increase the detection time he will just be the new freddy

He'll still be a vanilla 115% movement speed killer though. Freddy can't say that.

  • I like to use Whispers on Doctor.

He moves at 115% movement speed in punishment mode and 110% movement speed in treatment mode. There is little to no benefit from Treatment Mode outside of 32 meters, because the amount of madness buildup decreases the further you get away from the Doctor. Whispers lets you know when you are close enough for your Treatment Mode to be effective, so that you can walk around at 115% movement speed whenever your terror radius is not doing all that much. Whispers is also one of the best detection perks in the game, and the Doctor actually kind of struggles to detect survivors once everyone is in Madness Tier I already, if he is not running the detection add-ons. So it's just a really nice quality of life perk on him in general that saves a surprising amount of time.

I also just like Insidious. .... In general. It's a fun perk.

  • It seems to have eaten my previous post lol.

My Worst Survivor Perks: No One Left Behind, Left Behind, Up the Ante, Slippery Meat, Deja Vu

I'm having trouble deciding on the other categories, so I'll just post these for now.

Fun Fact: Luck only affects kobes and beartraps. The items you get from chests are completely unaffected, so all Up the Ante does is boost that 4% to a 13% if everyone else is still alive. Under normal circumstances you have about a 1 in 10 chance of unhooking yourself. With Up the Ante, that is increased to about a 1 in 3 at all 4 survivors alive. If all 4 survivors attempt to escape while all four survivors are alive, then on average 1 of you is expected to kobe and the other 3 are expected to lose a minute of hook time.

Another Fun Fact: Slippery Meat is worse at letting you unhook yourself than Up the Ante. It only raises your odds to about a 1 in 5. Combined, the two perks in exchange for taking up two perk slots give you about a 57% chance of unhooking yourself, meaning you have almost a 1 in 2 chance for those two perk slots to do nothing. Throw a good Salty Lips offering after bad and your odds are roughly increased to 65%. Proving that luck is only really good for meming or when all four survivors conspire to stack it. If all four survivors bring Up the Ante and a Salty Lips offering, then any of you with Slippery Meat has about a 98% chance to kobe. 86% without Slippery Meat. Meaning that even in the most ideal situation you could possible imagine with a 4 person SWF, Slippery Meat is not worth running at all. I did the math lol.

Left Behind rewards doing the one thing I've never done when I'm the last survivor alive. If the killer doesn't find me or the hatch, you bet your bippe I'm looking for either an exit gate or the hatch. I'm not doing gens solo. And the perk has no other effect....

No One Left Behind is so far down on the list of perks that reward you for altruism that I can't envision anyone running it in any situation for any good reason other than they just wanted to.

Deja Vu is the perk that solves a problem that doesn't exist.

  • Foreword: I left out Mettle of Man due to upcoming nerf and No Mither due to that being a meme perk.

Mine are in no particular order....

Survivor Worst: Deja Vu, Left Behind, No One Left Behind, Up the Ante, Slippery Meat.

Interesting note, luck only affects unhooking yourself and bear traps. A lot of people are operating under the misconception that it works on chests, but it has no effect on the items you get from them at all. Bringing Up the Ante in most games only changes that 4% to a 13% if you get hooked before everyone else is dead. If you are against a trapper and you step in a trap ..... well then it's still not that good. And this is all assuming your team doesn't just immediately save/farm you.

Survivor Best: Sprint Burst, Self Care, Urban Evasion, Adrenaline, Balanced Landing

Killer Worst: Coulrophobia, Fire Up, Monstrous Shrine, Unrelenting, Territorial Imperative

I would genuinely rather take "Beast of Prey" for the bp bonus (not even the effect) than any of these. Thanataphobia, while the numbers aren't great, at least has a psychological effect on people. These are just bad, except territorial which suffers from being the worst meme perk I could think of.

Killer Best: BBQ and Chili, Hex: Ruin, Hex: No One Escape's Death, Nurse's Calling, Enduring

Well that's just the meta isn't it? Two of these perks made the top five just because of the psychological effect they have in games they were never even in; while Enduring is just the better of the two in the #5 and #6 spot out of that particular combo. Ruin is still the best slow down the game perk, and BBQ is the entire problem with magic-find in a nutshell.

  • If dbd was a horror movie, we would find out at the end that the entity was really Nea all along.

Rank doesn’t matter too much aside from pips being easier to get, people at green ranks still experience some R1 issues.

That’s not true. The people at rank 1 are the tryhards willing to put up with all the bollocking having that rank entails.

  • @Mochan said:

These past 3-4 days my queues are taking so long. There's something up with the game< I think people are so disgusted with the Ghostface PTB that they stopped playing or something.

They are screwing with the matchmaking again. Killers now have to wait to get into a lobby that isn’t even full.

  • To be blunt, I don't think a killer without a movement ability can be top tier. The clown essentially stops the worst parts of pallet looping altogether and even he isn't top tier. A killer crouching around the map at reduced speed is mostly wasting their own time, just because any time they'll save via the stealth ability is already wasted by all the extra time it takes to sneak up on someone.

  • @Shad03 said:

If this was horror movie logic in DbD, then there will always be one survivor.

@Redd This may be just a game but it is a game where the killer should be feared (I'm not saying they should be the gods of death), yet being t-bagged signifies they are a absolute joke.

And this is why I learned to play Nurse. Survivor T-Bags At Pallet NURSE SCREECH *Survivor DC's*

  • @LordGlint said:

@Redd I completely understand this. The point of this thread isnt to discuss balance over the game, but rather just to have fun at the thought of if the logic in the game was done in the movies that inspired it. Also, the title is DBD logic in horror movies, not the other way around.

If this logic was used in a horror movie, t would make a pretty good Geico commercial.

Of course not. Tunneling is necessary at times but most of the time "gen rushing" happens BECAUSE all the other survivors notice you're after that one single player causing you to lose gens like crazy unless you manage to tunnel your personal object of obsession quickly enough.

I disagree with this. Unless you're a really good trapper, you can't be in two places at once. As soon as you break off a chase, that survivor can get back on a gen. Meanwhile, the other 3 survivors have all been on gens AND you now have to find one of them. You apply little to no pressure by giving up on a chase.

That being said, while you are losing pressure by breaking off a chase, knowing whom not to chase (aka you are hopelessly outmatched) is a good way to not throw more good time after bad.

  • @Kenshin said:

i dont think he is a noob, but he is a cheater for sure. as far as i know he cheated at least two times already. dunno why is not perma banned tho.

Did you actually pay attention to what he got banned for?

  • Dead by Daylight is a video game, not a horror movie. They have to sacrifice some of the realism to make it fun, unless they wanted to go with completely powerless survivors having to hide all game.

  • They should make him unable to hold his chainsaw without doing what Billy currently has to do. This gets rid of any delay caused by human reaction times, and it also makes it harder for people to straight up camp. Win-win.

They should also flat out remove the Tantrum. I am good enough at Leatherface that I never trigger it unless I go for a risky hit on a survivor's window vault; so in my opinion it needlessly punishes people trying to learn the killer without affecting good Leatherfaces too much.

100% speed would be too much, but they should at least slightly buff the speed while revving his chainsaw. Right now it's balanced so that it's almost impossible to catch up to survivors with it unless you are already right on them in an open area. Their defenses should be windows, pallets, and making you bump into things. Pure distance shouldn't be such a safe defense from Bubba.

  • Gen rush and tunneling both exist. Gen rush is when the survivors do the gens as fast as possible. Tunneling is when the killer tries to kill a survivor as fast as possible. That's the way both are used, and that is what people mean when they say them.

A more correct thing to say would be "There is nothing inherently wrong with tunneling." Sometimes it's the wrong strategic decision, but removing a survivor from the game as fast as possible can also be a good strategy, and it's something you decide on a case by case basis. A lot of hate for tunneling is not looking at this, but just complaining about how someone got killed as fast as possible because it's not fun for them. ..... Yeah well that doesn't mean the killer has to throw the game on purpose in order to make sure the survivors have fun.

Both tunneling and gen rush fall under the realm of balance concerns that people should hold the devs responsible for, not individual players.

  • The dude openly says that he's not that good at killer. Or in his words a "boosted killer main" (Noob3 uses boosted to just mean bad rather than the actual meaning a lot). It's not like he is trying to hide anything.

  • At this point we are just digging up the horse to beat it some more. I’m also not happy with the character, but can’t we wait to see what they say on it this week?

  • For ratings in the US, M means you can haz upper body but no nether regions. I blame Duke Nukem and God of War for me knowing that.

Yes. They don’t want it to be an AO rating.

    Rain in red forest.

And snow in Lery. So pretty.

  • This is just a thought I had bc the game already has 27 maps in it and playing on a very specific one has become frustrating already for some trophies. After reading your comment I’m not sure what to think but am still worried about the ever growing number of maps.

  • I finish most of my matches where I 3K-4K with 6K + brutality. Affecting in match bp would make it much less valuable.

  • This is also why they are worried about being too harsh atm.

Recently the devs have set the disconnect threshold back to "normal", it was more lenient because of crashes: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/63559/developer-update-may-2019#latest (scroll to "DISCONNECTION HANDLING - OUR PLAN, OUR ACTIONS")

If the devs actually cared about the disconnect issue they would have made it stricter. They did not, therefore, clearly they don't care.

For some reason they claim that dedicated servers will allow them to handle it better. Considering that there already is a system that is supposed to be able to handle disconnects, I find it very unlikely that dedicated servers will change anything

Dedicated servers will make it better because they will be able to tell who is responsible for the dc. Right now the game can’t tell if it’s the killer or the survivor whose connection went out.

  • Yes. Yes it would. I would rather bad perks get buffed than just have a no bonus slapped on.

  • @weirdkid5

I agree and disagree. Streamers would be very good at breaking the game which is extremely useful in the testing progress. A really good killer vs really good survivors would be a good test-bed for finding balance issues. The problem with bias would be if the streamers were allowed to dictate the changes.

Extra shower thought: What would the game look like if their testing was mainly Mcote vs Not_Queen + Noob3 + Monto + Tydetyme?

  • It's more likely that the 6 week release cycle would be and/or is more of a problem than anything else as far as QA is concerned. They are releasing a lot of content in a relatively small amount of time. They basically get 4 weeks to finish up whatever is going out for the next mid-chapter or chapter; then 2 weeks to fix it after it goes out on PTB.

  • Hopefully we find out more about the upcoming buffs this week. If we don’t then I would worry, but right now is a bit soon.

  • This would really hurt the game balance at lower ranks. ... Honestly they need to start making survivor objectives harder based on how high your rank is.

  • They would basically need to make 5 times as many maps to get bouquets to work. This is why they stopped supporting them after either crotus prenn or haddonfield.

  • Maybe one day we could see a really good suggestion as an actual achievement in game. Fire away

I think it’s safe to say that while fun to think about none of these so far would make it in. I was thinking about doing some of these for fun, and I don’t want to so far.

How so? I understand the plot of it and I get the characters backstories but I wouldn’t see it as controversial but I could be wrong

A lot of people got upset about how the film presented someone with multiple personalities.

  • I’m sorry I just put the one I remembered. Kenneth is the birth name. Jeffrey is the name he gave and used at the circus.

  • Sacrifice 4 survivors after end game collapse is triggered.

  • Oh and the Plague is Adiris.

  • Each of the killers has a real name (I'll list them below just to be as informative as I can I guess). Leatherface's real name is Bubba Sawyer.

    Evan Macmillan - Trapper

    Phillip Ojomo - Wraith

    Max Thompson Jr. - Hillbilly

    Sally Smithson - Nurse

    Michael Myers - Shape

    Lisa Sherwood - Hag

    Herman Carter - Doctor

    Anna - Huntress

    Bubba Sawyer - Leatherface

    Freddy Kreuger - Nightmare

    Amanda Young - Pig

    Jeffrey Hawk - Clown

    Rin Yamaoka - Spirit

Frank, Julie, Suzie, Joey - Legion

    Danny Johnson - Ghostface

Autodidact should increase the odds of receiving a healing skill check by 10/20/30% as well as it's regular effects.

Being honest; I can't use Autodidact properly because I can't really see the skillcheck. It would be really amazing if they made it the same color as normal checks (or a more distinct color than red on red at least) and you just had to keep track of the tokens as normal. Because for me it's the same problem as corn vision but like times a million; and no one lets you practice once you screw up the first healing skill check on them.

  • @ReikoMori said:

Legion and Freddy are the smallest we will probably ever get. There is also hag whose thin a rail and small as well.

The picture looks like something you'd get as a killer in Soul At Stake which is an actual Chinese 1v4 in the same vein as dbd.

The devs have mentioned during a couple streams that they have at least thought about what they would do to design a child sized killer. So while still very unlikely; they are not completely impossible. It would probably require a lot of extra work though; so I personally don't expect one to occur in Year 4 at least.

  • Other than standard M1 killer perks; the only perks I've found particularly good on Legion beyond the normal is Bloodhound. Bloodhound is one of the best tracking perks for injured survivors in the game. The main reason it's mid tier instead of high tier is that people normally heal outside of chases. Sometimes they don't do that against Legion; so Bloodhound often becomes a completely amazing tracking perk on him.

The other perk that interacts with his power much more than normal is Thanataphobia (again with some survivors refusing to heal); but it's not like Plague where they will definitely give you the bonus; so it's usually not good enough in enough games to be worth running in my opinion.

Other than Bloodhound you should just run standard m1 killer perks. So Ruin, BBQ, Enduring + Fury combo, etc. My personal build is Ruin + BBQ + Whispers + Bloodhound; but that's because of my playstyle and yours may vary.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/67395/year-4-killers

    Jeepers Creeper is auto nope.

Exorcist while being a horror movie doesn't actually have a killer to take from it. Plus we already have a female killer who vomits as her primary power and has a religious motif.

Chucky is too short from a gameplay standpoint. There is also the fact that Chucky's vodoo isn't really helpful for murder just surviving.

Jason is someone they'd like to have, but you can see how the rights holder dicked over Ilfonic with Ft13.

Predator is getting his own 1v4 game by Ilfonic. The devs said they only want human killers for DBD so both Predator and a Xenomorph are out.

Honestly, I just want the killers we do get to feel strong and fun to play as. Hell, I'll take making the killers we already have feel both strong and fun.

Predator would also make significantly more sense in Deathgarden.

  • It's very dangerous to release something overpowered. Releasing something under-powered is disappointing but does not ruin your game's meta. Releasing something overpowered very much does ruin your game's meta. The best example of something being way too overpowered is Decisive Strike. The very original release of Decisive Strike almost killed the game completely prior to its initial nerf; and there is not an equivalent scenario I could imagine with an underpowered perk.

Thus, I think they have concluded that since they can't do patches (especially on console) frequently enough to constantly release overpowered things; they would rather undershoot and buff than risk too bad of an overshoot too often.

I do not necessarily agree with this decision; but that is my best guess as to the design process involved.

  • Dead by Daylight is not the only game they make and have made. A lot of people only know Bhvr because of DBD; but I originally knew them for both Naughty Bear and WET. Right now DBD is STILL not the only game they work on; and they are pushing content out at an astonishing rate while doing a lot of behinds the scenes work to try and refactor code; so I am not that bothered by how slow they work sometimes. At least Bhvr is one of the few companies I fully trust to eventually make things right; which I can't say about most gaming companies.
