  • I’m always happy to see all the bad survivors who think Sprint Burst is bad; because it means they probably won’t be running it if I end up playing against them.

  • Hallowed Blight Doctor should be at the top with Myers.

  • Noed is supposed to force survivors to do dull totems. It’s not a perk intended for the killer to earn it.

This map was originally designed to give the Hag a gameplay advantage.

  • Noed is like camping. It's perfectly fine, and the only reason it's as powerful as it is is that survivors refuse to play better. The problem isn't the perk. It's that survivors absolutely refuse to cleanse dull totems and then get justly punished for ignoring a major objective all game. Just like the salty SWF team raging in the end game chat because they all face rushed into Leatherface's basement without a thought to good strategy, the survivors absolutely deserve to be on the receiving end of this perk in the vast majority of situations where it turns a game around.

  • Oh and killers would lose every game.

  • Every game the killers would be Nurse, Hillbilly, and Leatherface. Survivors would not get rescued lol.

  • If you aren't getting use out of the Trapper's bear traps in chases, then you need to work on your trap placements. Half the point of the killer is to herd people into your mines.

Also, a good Trapper probably doesn't run Hangman's Trick. Sabo is almost a non-issue now that traps respawn.

Because if the survivors are at the same rank as me, it doesn’t make sense for me to utterly destroy them, and not rank up. If rank is meant to be an indication of skill, it’s obvious I’m not playing with the survivors matching mine

    Basically this.

Put a different way, if someone who gets a 4K every game never ranks up; then all that ranking system provides is a miserable experience for the people who have to play against them. At some point completely decimating your opponents should mean you get harder opponents; because otherwise you'll just keep decimating the people unlucky enough to run into you..

  • They should really just rework the perk in general. It's either completely overpowered or the reason you died depending on the situation. That's not a healthy spot for a perk to be in.

  • Sprint Burst is the best of them if you use it properly. It's the only one that can be used on demand when the killer catches you out of position.

Lithe is a poor man's sprint burst where you are significantly more likely to take a hit if the killer catches you out of position. Balanced Landing is a perk that lets you run pseudo-infinites on some maps such as Haddonfield, but it's almost useless on other maps, and I would almost always run Balanced Landing with either Lithe or Dead Hard to prevent getting screwed over by a bad map spawn. Honestly I would say these two perks are tied for second, with Balanced Landing being better on the more vertical maps and on certain set pieces, while Lithe is a more general use perk that is okay on most maps.

Dead Hard is probably 4th place just because of how finnicky it is. It's better than Balanced Landing and Lithe in a few specific situations (such as playing against a skilled Nurse or Trapper); but most of the time it's only going to give you a small benefit one time before the killer knows to expect it during the 2nd and even the 3rd chase. Requiring you to be injured is also a major problem with it because it means you are significantly more likely than you are using the other three to take that first hit simply because you don't have an exhaustion perk until you do. This is one of the few perks where I don't agree with how popular it is versus how good it actually performs. Especially when you take latency into account.

Head On is just a meme perk tbh.

Adrenaline is a special case where I wouldn't really try to compare it to any of the above. It's inclusion (or lack thereof) in your build does not really affect your decision on whether or not to take one of the others.

  • About 2 hours per week-night; 2-4 hours per Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I have nowhere near as much time to game as I used to lol. And I want to play other things too.

  • I play every single killer, and I absolutely hate Barbecue and Chili with a passion. It's too good not to run because of the blood points bonus; which creates the same problem as luck or magic find in any game that has those. Either I run something I think is sub-optimal in order to get more resource to get more stuff I want; or I run something "optimal" but feel bad because I know I could be getting up to twice as much BP.

Solution: Fix the Brussels-Sprouting grind already.

  • @xCarrie said:

Maybe they changed it to make room for a ghost killer and “the ghost” will be the name 🤔

Then again they can call it the paranormal or something.

I have a feeling it was more of a decision to get as much as they can out of the license.

  • I think a middle ground where survivors can't read his Aura while in Night Shroud would be a better place to start. This would prevent him from being too weak to OoO and some other perks; but it wouldn't make him completely immune to things imo he shouldn't be.

I prefer "The Ghost" it fits the other two word names for other killers, plus saying The Ghostface sounds weird. They didn't call The Shape, Michael Myers even though it is right in his bio.

Being honest, I would prefer this the most out of all the likely options. I really don't want "Face" to be in the killers name.

Yeah, makes sense. Kinda the reason why I asked. Since I have never seen anyone do it, I wanted to know if anyone actually does. xD

The real problem is that even when they didn't respawn, it's more effective more often to use toolboxes on generators then bear traps; and Saboteur has not been the meta in years.

  • @miaasma said:

this leads into a bigger conversation of how daily bloodpoint yields are pretty pathetic

They really need to rework the grind again. The only BP offerings that feel really good are the Bound Envelope, Survivor Pudding, Escape Cake, and BPS. Most of the more situational (non-map related) offerings are now essentially not worth burning. And we now have over 150 levels worth of perks in the game for at least one side, meaning over 100 level 50 bloodwebs to wade through if you get super unlucky.

  • When traps didn't respawn, it was more common.

When hooks didn't respawn, it happened in almost every game.

Now it's very rare because you are wasting your time to remove one bear trap for 3 minutes when you could just as easily disarm it and move on.

  • Right now it's a conversion rate of 2000 shards for 150,000 blood points. Considering that quests can be as low as 20,000 BP with the average being 3XXXX, it would need to be something like 200 shards = Daily for this to really feel good from a user perspective.

@Redd take it from a Spirit main who plays her at high ranks without addons, she's not addon reliant. If you think that, you're terrible with her. That's me putting it simply. And she is far better than Billy, you're again, probably not good with her.

I used to think she was addon reliant, she's just really hard without addons, but still definitely better than Billy and close to Nurse. You're wrong about her. A better example is Myers.

We are going to have to agree to disagree here. She's better than Billy at loops but I consider her (vanilla of course) a whole lot worse at patrolling, which I personally consider to be the more important of the two things if you don't have any add-ons to make you broken.

There's no arguing that there isn't even a 4th place worth mentioning though, so there is that.

  • Nurse and Leatherface. I'd just put the chainsaw power on the secondary power button for Nurse, leaving the teleport unaffected and letting particularly dexterous people use them simultaneously.

  • Warning: This post is overly snarky. I'm so snarky because I care so much about the game.

    ----------------

I found this news post to be very interesting just because it shows how actively bad Ghost Face was before these buffs. I mean..... he was very very bad. So bad I don't understand it. But these are a lot of buffs and a really good start at least.

    Audio

These changes are great. It just makes me wonder why the stealth killer had a 16 meter lullaby radius in the first place. 8 Meters puts him on same tier as Myers with M&A if they don't spot him. Same time, I'm very worried it's going to be very easy to spot him.

    Detection

Being blunt, I have no frolicking clue how easy it's going to be able to detect Father Death here, because the previous state is not at all useful for any kind of prediction whatsoever. I'm very very concerned, because I feel like the ease with which people notice Myers and the Pig and have gotten used to them now will have already poisoned the well for Ghostface here. At the same time, I'm currently doing that one gif right now when someone says how hard it will still be to use his power. "So you're saying there's a chance."

It's also very nice that you won't be a giant red lighthouse while using your power if you aren't moving at worse than Nurse speed because you aren't crouched.

On that same note here, it has been confirmed that even after the buff he will still move slower than a crouched pig while crouched. The Pig already moves extremely slowly while crouched, so this is still a cause for great concern only exceeded by how in the world did he have an even worse crouched MS beforehand?

    Stalking

He doesn't lose stalking progress until he damages or exposes them now. <- Basically means I'm going to completely ignore his crouching ability (except for teabagging) and just stalk people mid chase for actually exposing them lol.

Oh and the 45 seconds probably won't matter (to me) with the other buff since I can't see myself popping it until I'm ready to down them now. In which case 20s vs 45 seconds don't matter all that much.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All of the above completely ignores:

    • Two of his perks are STILL complete doo doo.
    • Object of Obsession will still make this man miserable.

@Meme Tremors perk will be meta on Freddy.

Pick up> Know what gen is being worked on> teleport to it> pop goes the weasel

Or 16 seconds of no progress every pick up if they catch on

Or you could just run BBQ and Chili and see where they at.

  • Most of the killers are too reliant on add ons.

The Spirit is the best example of why I find this frustrating. She is only in the top 3 when using add-ons. Which everyone just assumes she'll have? This is why I find balance discussion and tier lists for this game frustrating. Because the spirit is a significantly worse killer without add-ons that basically needs them to be viable. But everyone acts as if she's god-tier better than Hillbilly who I must point out is one of the few killers not completely reliant on their add-ons to do well.

So making new Freddy too reliant on his add-ons to be able to do anything would just be par for the course for them sadly.

  • @Peanits said:

    Couple things here:

    1) Snares are the default, not an add-on.

    2) Dream pallets are different from doctor pallets. Doctor pallets vanish when you get close. Dream pallets will not. They appear just like a regular pallet. A survivor could end up looping a dream pallet without knowing it's a dream pallet, giving you an easy hit when they throw it down and realize it's fake.

Again, not to beat a dead horse, but this is why speculation this early on is not a good idea.

The problem is that I can't help but be worried after the freddy nerfs, doctor nerfs, legion nerfs, and Ghostface... whatever Ghostface is that y'all have done in the last half year.

Y'all nerfed Freddy and Doctor, Doctor specifically being a major concern for me because you reversed a major buff you gave him during his rework specifically to make him viable, in order to buff Borrowed Time and keep Legion bad. Then y'all's Legion rework is............ Please take another crack at that one at some point.

And then Ghostface ptb was not productive, even if y'all are fixing him now. A lot of people were able to predict a lot of those problems via speculation ahead of time too, so it's not like speculation was completely wrong in the most recent case... And I'm deliberately leaving out the details about the fact that I think 8 of the other current 14 killers need another balance pass on top of Freddy.

I'm just saying it's hard not to speculate and be concerned. It may not be helpful, but it's still an interesting discussion to have for me personally.

  • While I'm giving shoutouts to people for being wholesome and very nice (this isn't naming and shaming as long as I really mean it and I'm saying good things right?); Ohmwrecker deserves a shoutout for being both. Feel bad leaving that one out of my examples lol.

So glad to see people starting to realize the truth about the streamers in the community, they aren’t good people, and it’s a matter of time before something happens and something needs to be done.

As someone who was harassed constantly by this group. Thank you.

This is unfair. If we look at the Fog Whisperer membership here:

Back in September, we launched a pilot for a new program called: “The Fog Whisperers”.

(it's been updated with new names in March)

there are a whole lot of very wholesome streamers who I am proud to have represent the game. Paulie Esther, Gar Bluemoon, HybridPanda, etc. are proof that there are very nice streamers out there who more than deserve to be allowed to represent DBD as Fog Whisperers. Looking over the entire list, there are only 3 names on the entire thing that cause me concern as for why they got onto the list; and even then 1 is borderline enough that I wouldn't actively bring them up when giving examples of bad streamers. A whole lot of the people in the program are good streamers, and it's completely unfair to lump them all in as one group.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

Is this a perspective thing? In other words, did it seem like he would not chase or down, or did he actually have clean shots he did not take?

I ask because I've had 3 gen situations where 1 survivor will try to get me to chase and loop, but I was not going to fall for it. I kept clearing gens until they made a mistake and could down one without running across the map like a fool. I had a tactical advantage and was not going to toss it away foolishly.

It seems to be a game where the survivors refused to commit and the killer refused to let them just have a gen.

  • I'm not even thinking about the person y'all are talking about btw. Never watched their stream. I'm thinking about other Fog Whisperers. Want to make sure I actively avoid jumping on the bandwagon here.

  • Imagine if the program came out earlier, would the person on youtube who makes all the montages be a Fog Whisperer? I don't think so and I would certainly hope not, but it's really weird tuning into some of these streams and seeing how some of the people who represent BHVR act while actively representing BHVR on their streams.

  • @Peanits

Something that has always bugged me about the Fog Whisperer's program is that some of them behave really really badly on stream. Are there any standards they have to live up to in order to continue being Fog Whisperers?

  • They thought it was too hard for people to wake up.

I repeat. Too. Hard. To. Wake. Up.

Ignoring the fact that this is only a problem that needs fixing if you keep the auras (which they aren't); it is in fact TOO EASY to wake up in Freddy's current state. Allowing for survivors to have another way to wake up was not needed. This is absolutely the definition of fixing a problem that doesn't exist after they already "fixed" it by removing the aura reading.

Like...... that is the number one complaint people have about Freddy in general. Sleeping an entire survivor team doesn't do much because you chase one and the other three wake up almost immediately. In a meta where it's already a major complaint that it is too easy to wake up; the first thing they are doing with the rework is making it easier to wake up.

    -------------------------------------

The second thing I don't like about the rework is that they removed all the major downsides to being asleep. The downside is that dream snares or dream pallets, not both but just one, will now work on you. You no longer get the action cooldown, the aura reading, or anything else that actually made putting people to sleep good. All you get out of dream state is some of the worst parts of the builds from the trap killers and the doctor. There is absolutely no way under any circumstance that dream snares + dream pallets is ample compensation for losing the 50% action speed cooldown and the aura reading. "But Redd they put a weaker version of the cooldown on some add-ons." Why the flying popsicles do we always need specific add-ons to make any killer not terrible? Shouldn't a killer be viable at base instead of hot doo doo without specific add-ons?

Oh and did I mention that it's now easier to wake up? Which was already super super easy?

    -------------------------------------

Being able to hit survivors immediately, something every other 115% ms killer could do already, comes at the cost of the majority of Freddy's stealth. Goody goody gumdrops. Yes, it's very very nice that we can now hit people. But Freddy is now JUST an M1 killer except for the one positive they gave him.

    --------------------------------------

So what compensates Freddy for all these changes? Well it's supposed to be the gen teleport. Which, to be admitted, is pretty good for some map presence. But unless the Dream Snares are way better than they look, he's going to be somewhere around a worse Clown when he starts an actual chase. I'm sure he'll get some cool add-ons, but I hate having to run add-ons to be able to do anything.

  • Skilled Huntress was the absolute worst one to get. I had to message survivors asking for them to farm a bit every game for about 30 games in a row. The actual distance is so great that I have no idea how they thought it was even remotely okay at all under any circumstances to ask people to do 100 of these legitimately. Even 20 is an insane pain in the buttocks.

    ----------

Evil Incarnate is the one hard achievement that I got on the first try. Meanwhile I've spent dozens of hours trying to do all sorts of stupid things that are supposedly nowhere near as hard. Right now I've spent about 20 hours trying to get the Ormond Gen achievement. I've only seen the map twice as survivor in those 20 hours (because there's 27 of them now); and both times were spectacular failures I couldn't do much about.

  • "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." - Mark Twain

It's almost impossible to have good stats in this game that aren't up to personal interpretation.

Take DC's as a single example. Survival rates would skew lower if they include games with DC's and skew higher if they don't include those games. Both are irretrievably altered by the fact that DC's occured, unless DC's only occur in a statistically small sample of all games. Anyone who plays this game KNOWS FOR A FACT that that is not the case, so it's impossible to have good stats with or without DC's for DBD at the current moment.

And this is just a single issue that is just the tip of the iceberg:

    • How many survivors are trying their best to escape at all ranks?
    • How many killers are being as ruthless as possible at all ranks?
    • Do the players consider ranking up or getting blood points to be more important?
    • How many hours does each person at each rank have playing that particular killer? Should a rank 1 Nurse with 10 hours of Nurse play total be treated the same as a rank 1 Nurse with 1000 hours?
    • How do events affect the stats?
    • How do ultra rare add-ons, items, and offerings affect the stats?
    • How many players on each side at each rank have access to fully optimal builds?
    • What the flying fudge do they do to account for 2 person, 3 person, and 4 person SWF games? Leave them in? Leave them out? Have separate stats for solo and each tier of SWF? Try to separate good SWF from bad SWF? Only care about games with SWF that don't have a major rank imbalance? The resulting stats are basically bollocks no matter what you choose to go with.
    • How do specific perks specifically affect the stats isolated from other problems mentinoed? People with Mettle of Man probably have a higher escape rate right now than people who don't, but how in the world would they even prove or measure that in order to make a fair decision about how powerful MoM is pre and post rework/nerf given all of the other factors already listed?
    • Etc. Etc. Etc.

Throw in any biases of the people either gathering/presenting or reading the statistics given and almost anything can be used to say almost anything given enough spin.

At the end of the day, what's really important is whether you believe the devs are doing their best to use these statistics to balance the game (my personal belief) or you believe something more sinister is going on. As a humble armchair astrophysicist, I don't have enough data to prove either one is the case.

It is holding the game hostage temporarily. You're basically either just going to sit there bored and annoyed for the 4 minutes or how ever long it is to bleed out. Does that sound like fun?

As long as the game state is progressing and/or the killer is trying to advance the game state, it is not holding the game hostage under the definition used by BHVR for bans. The only common ways for the killer to hold the game hostage include body blocking.

  • TLDR: Both sides seem equally toxic inside of games. Outside of games survivors are way more toxic in post game messages on PS4 specifically.

    -------------

I have put over 1000 hours into killer and over 500 hours into survivor over the last two years. In all of that time, I have received TWO, count them TWO toxic post game messages from killers. I know it's exactly two because they are so ultra rare that I bothered to save them off as a reminder to avoid those gamertags whenever I see them. Generally, killers on PS4 do not contact me after the game is done. The general reason for this is that I'm not an ######### survivor, and there are four survivors, so they can't be arsed to message me after the game. Meanwhile, I have received literal hundreds if not thousands of angry messages from survivors after the game in that same span of time. The reason for this is also pretty simple. There's only one easy target to blame for survivors, instead of four, so whether I'm not an ######### has no bearing on whether or not someone butthurt over dying will send me death threats post game. Psychologically, the game is just set up so that survivors are just more likely to be this level of angry at the killer than the killer is to be that angry at any specific survivor(s). That is how basic human psychology works. Survivors have more opportunity, an easier target, and thus more motivation to be toxic after the game on PS4. So they are significantly more toxic (to a level that far exceeds any reasonable margin of error) in post game messages. Does this mean killers can't be just as toxic? No. I literally have the two screenshots to prove otherwise. But killers, for one reason or another, for the most part do not care enough to send me toxic messages after games threatening to kill me, cussing me out, telling me to #########, etc. Toxic survivors for whatever reason do.

In game, I would define toxicity as anything that has the sole purpose to just taunt the opposing side. Good examples are teabagging and smacking hooked survivors repeatedly. I would not define camping, tunneling, "face camping" (real face camping doesn't exist anymore), "gen rush", looping, etc. as toxic; because they are just ways to play the game that sometimes have good strategic reasons behind them. The killer/survivor does not have to care about the other side's fun in a vs game.

As far as I can tell, I run into a lot more toxic survivors than killers inside of games as well, but the killers are significantly better represented. Toxic killers inside of games definitely exist, and they are definitely trying to piss you off. i would consider both sides equally as toxic inside of the actual game, because the difference in toxicity levels I personally see can easily be explained by opportunity. Survivors who want to escape have significantly more opportunities to safely BM at pallets than killers who want to win have opportunities to whack a survivor on the hook for 30+ seconds. Killers who are super toxic in my games have either already won (slugging all remaining survivors) or have already lost (whacking the camped survivor on the hook since they are mad they are only getting a 1K this game). Killers don't really seem to be that toxic when they are under a whole lot of pressure to be somewhere else, because the killer is just genuinely under a whole lot more pressure. Accounting for that difference, I don't see enough more toxic survivors than killers in game to say one side is more toxic than the other.

  • The doctoR cannot stop all 3 gens simultaneously this way. Worst case wax has survivor gets on a different gen.

  • The doctor cannot force you to remain alive and off of gens. Have everyone get on one gen. THe doctor has to start bleeding people or watch you pop it.

  • After playing since ps4 launch I have gotten 2 angry messages from killers and literally hundreds from survivors from then until now. Including angry messages from teammates. Survivors on ps4 are way more toxic after matches, at least from what I can tell.
