Because it was a third health state that even completely counter some killer power like legion and Ghostface. Plus there was nothing in the event for the killer.

Let me ask you do you really think CoH was fine how it was? I mean if I had to say something I would go another approach to nerf it instead of just nerfing its numbers

It was also a temporary event for fun.

Crazy concept but remember fun? It's the thing people are supposed to have when they play games. Anyone complaining about snowmen needed to go touch grass

  • No gens done, 2 people completely dead, 1 person on death hooks:

Still finds something to complain about XD

When the term "underrated killer" comes to mind, you may think of killers whose strength is sometimes underestimated. Killers that are usually placed in high C or low B tier like Demogorgon and Plague, maybe even ones that are placed even lower such as Michael or Pig depending on who you you are. But what if I told you that there's a killer that is more underrated than all of these? Your mind may jump to the "bottom half" of the killer roster, but in reality who I am talking about is generally regarded as a decent killer. You see, they are underrated not because their strength isn't recognized, but because they are actively shunned by the community and the developers alike. As you might guess, I am talking about the Twins.

I could discuss how Twins are perceived as a killer who can only camp and slug by most of the community, which simply isn't true, but instead I'll be covering something else: How the meta has changed around the Twins and effectively left them in the dust. The point of this post is to call attention to this, and to criticize the lack of attention that the less played killers get as a whole. (Twins is by far the worst case of this, which is why this post is about them in the first place)

While there are killers that have been victims of the meta and power creep before, I cannot think of a case where a killer has been made completely unplayable just by a few simple perks. And yet, this has been allowed to happen with the Twins.

The four ingredients to ruin any Twins player:

-Boon: Circle of Healing (Pretty simple, having all survivors be healthy all the time is a nightmare for twins)

-Unbreakable (makes Twin's slugging much worse. Even if you don't heavily slug as Twins, you physically cannot not slug at all with them)

-Dead Hard (Victor can land a pounce and go through the 5 second stun without the survivor actually being downed)

-Boon: Exponential (NOT ONLY lets survivors picks themselves up faster, but works with CoH and Unbreakable, which are BOTH META PERKS and essentially ensure that the survivor will be picked up before you even are able to reach them, as they have an 8-second headstart from the animation of Victor's pounce fatigue and switching to Charlotte alone.)

Notice how 3 of those 4 perks are meta, and the fourth one synergizes perfectly with the first two? Weird, right? You may argue that killers like Trapper have had this problem with perks such as small game, but realize that that perk benefitted ONE player, while ONE person bringing CoH or Exponential cripples Twins because the entire team gets access to the benefits of those perks.

This is a gross oversight by BHVR that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. The problem itself isn't really the perks (except maybe for CoH) but rather the Twins themselves. They are in dire need of an update and if they don't get one, then they will become dead weight, just there for new players to say "hey, this looks interesting", spend their money, play until they get squashed by the previously mentioned perks, and go become yet another Blight main.

This issue reflects a worrying problem on the game itself. Will the other less played killers be left in the dust, the only hope being a massive shift in the meta that also happens to directly benefit them? Will these killers become outdated and forgotten about? And if so, who's next in line? Hopefully, when I look back at this post in the future, I won't be able to answer these questions.

Once again, I just want to call attention to this problem and how a killer has been allowed to be forgotten just because they lost out on the popularity contest. It's not the job of the developers to simply disregard a core part of gameplay for a reason such as that.

    Yup, another wack argument.

If anything The Twins hurt the game by exacerbating the slugging and camping playstyle, and these perks help alleviate some of that problem.

And let's be real for a second (CoH and Exponential only cover a certain area so if you're not in that small circle, or if you never found a dull totem, or if the killer hears the totem and snuffs it, 2 dead perks.

Timing a dead hard perfect so that Victor gets stunned from the hit is not something that's going to happen often so that's a non-argument

And Unbreakable only works if you're slugging people which circles back to my first point that if the killers whole playstyle is to slug people, that is an issue within itself because it's boring as hell and makes for toxic gameplay strats

I've been playing the heck out of the new killer. I enjoyed her a lot at low levels, but after I've (inevitably) worked her up to only be matched against red-rank SWF's...these are some of the most frustratingly tedious matches I've ever played.

She's supposed to be hit and run to spread pressure but after a bit, if you make the wrong call for where to teleport, I guarantee you whoever you just hit is going to be healthy like...now. I tried only using builds with sloppy butcher, thanat, etc, but that does literally nothing against these ridiculous boons that are continually spammed every SINGLE match. Now I have to just use NOED and hope endgame goes well bc you don't stand a chance without a one hit down or consistently reliable mobility in this game anymore. It really sucks.

You've told yourself that she has to be hit an run. No killer has to play hit and run besides Legion. With how fast you can teleport around the map, I'd argue that hit and run is the dumbest playstyle on her because once you get your BBQ info after a hook, you can get just about anywhere on the map faster than most killers

  • this is the absolute dumbest take on CoH i've ever seen on the forums, and there's sadly a lot. The perk is fine if you're not an annoying killer like Legion who thrives on being annoying and constantly injuring people

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

Now that we know what type of boon perks BHVR wants due to boon: dark theory, and what the counterplay to boons should be, we can see how circle of healing throws a wrench in the whole thing.

The counterplay to boons is (obviously) hearing when the boon gets placed, seeing where the boon may be based on survivor locations, hearing the chimes when near it, and then snuffing out the totem.

This is where Circle screws everything up. Every other boon in the game requires the killer to be nearby to get value from, circle of healing is the ONE boon perk that works even if the killer is on the opposite end of the map. Most likely, the killer will never hear the boon because good survivors will know to lead the killer away from it.

In order for CoH to be even remotely fair and balanced it either:

    • Needs a condition to only work when the killer is nearby (how that would make sense I do not know)
    • Or the effect itself is insignificant enough that the killer doesn't care that it's up (which currently, giving the entire team free medkits is borderline gamebreaking)
    • Or finally, the perk needs a complete overhaul to be either completely different, or have vastly different mechanics.

The easy/least effort needed way to fix it is by making the effect much weaker than it is now. Probably by removing the ability to self care entirely or make the self care time the normal time of 32 seconds.

As for the other methods of reworking it, I have no clue what that would look like.

I know circle of healing was likely released due to Mikaela being a solo survivor DLC and there needed to be a reason to buy it (much similar to what happened with Ash and Mettle of man), but it's seriously one of the things ruining matches right now for most people and needs major changes fast. Especially because low tier killers feel absolutely AWFUL to play with 1 active in the match.

Exponential doesn't require the killer to be near to work actually so..... boons have nothing to do with killer proximity

  • @Yankus said:

I like two of the killer perks. Call of brine doesn't seem that great since it's just another perk that's disabled with a tap and great skill checks. The scourge hook one and the second tinkered seem nice though. Not sure if they are stronger than current meta but we'll see. Also survivor perks look below average. About time lol.

Survivor perks are almost always below average, hence why no one changes their build (CoH being a rare exception)

  • @AngyKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2807609#Comment_2807609

'Fair' is not 'have the same thing'. By that logic; Circle of Healing will only be 'fair' if Killers can re-ignite Hex totems.

Or if Killers get a sprint-burst perk to speed up at-will for a few seconds. Or a Dead-Hard-like perk.

Those aren't even remote the same because we're talking about a perk for gaining extra BP which is something killers already get more of by default.

You're talking some nonsense about a "sprint burst" for killers? The killers are faster and don't NEED a sprint burst.

I never said "the same". I said a survivor equivalent. There's a difference.

  • I'd rather see survivors get an equivalent that's just as easy to capitalize on.

We're going to live forever should be based on the objective (gen completion) and should be given regardless of who completes the gen.

BBQ rewards killers for literally just doing what they are supposed to do and DOUBLES their bloodpoints for just hooking each survivor once. We're Gonna Live Forever shouldn't be based on protection hits and hook saves (which you can't guarantee you'll get because there's 2 other people who can get there before you).

Buff WGLF and it'll be fair

I follow EIGHT Killer mains on Twitch that do not trash talk at all. Stop trying to normalize that "locker room talk" garbage.

If you know some Survivor Mains that stream that NEVER talk trash and don't engage in toxic behaviors during game, I would be happy to give them a Follow.

So far, I have not found any. NOT ONE.

I already mentioned Tokki, Meeows, and Cahla I think

  • I'm streaming right now if you want scuffed gameplay ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  • Are you looking for "Big Name" streamers like Meeeows, CrunchEggRollz, Tokki, or just like any streamers of any size?

    @WesCravenFan said:

I would love to watch a Survivor streamer that didn't do toxic behaviors or talk trash.

Unfortunately that is literally all of them.

Let's not pretend trash talk is a "survivor" thing and not just a "competitive" thing. Just about everyone does a little trash talk DURING the game. The main thing is not being toxic AFTER the game

  • I got mine like the first week and I literally haven't played Bubba in at least 2-3 years *shrug*

SWF doesnt mean those players are good. SWF also doesnt mean that they communicate anything important. SWF also doesnt make bad players better. Youre completely overestimating the power of general SWF teams. And most important: SWF doesnt make people toxic. Maybe get out of your irational thughts and start learning the proper gameplay. Its obviously a you issue.

This right here. I can easily find gameplay from friends of mine who have been playing for 2-3 years and are still bad at the game in a 4 person swf.

The truth is that SWF or no SWF, if people don't take the game seriously, they're not going to be sweaty try hards. They literally just play to make goofy plays ans maybe escape here and there but more often than not, they die with 3 gens left

If you're constantly losing, either A: you're bad at the game or B: you're being matched with people outside your skill levels. Strong solos are better than weak SWF any day

  • You want ranged killers to be the same speed as m1 killers, thereby making them impossible to get away from.

    Yeah, no

It's just a math thing, pressuring maps/catching survivors quickly is literally not possible in this game for most killers.

For most killers at their skill level should be the correction here. You slap lethal pursuer on any killer to get early game data and maybe you can't get there as fast as a Blight, Billy, Nurse, Spiriit, etc but you know where to go so you don't waste time.

From there, it's all skill based. Also currently all the math (whether yall like the stats or not) show that in the current state of the game, killers are doing just fine and in some cases more than fine

They can do fine at high MMR when they get potato survivors. Because all you have to do is escape as survivor, you get potatoes even at high MMR. But when you don't get them, you get absolutely obliterated because the gen speed will trump everything you do. Otz's streaks before and after MMR might as well be thrown out, because there's no way he went against high level teams that many times in a row and still won. To put it simply, if you had an easy game as killer, it wasn't high level.

Yea no, that's a fallacy right there. You can't set up an argument by saying "well if this happens, it's only because of this".

I don't remember if that's called a strawman or whatever it is, but that's not how arguments worse. You literally have nothing to backup that claim.

Strong teams are capable of getting destroyed as well

Because data is literally worthless when killers can secure one or two kills no matter what and majority of players are "bad".

So pretty much you're going off personal experience instead of data you don't like?

Because I've yet to see a solid argument for why the game is supposedly survivor sided.

I've seen plenty of good arguments for why it's at best neutral, and at worst killer sided.

But every argument for why the game is survivor sided pretty much boils down to "I can't handle the gen speeds or catch survivors quick enough to apply pressure" and that's a skill issue more than a game issue

  • This community confuses me sometimes because I always see people complaining the game should be balanced around the highest levels of MMR and that it's totally survivor sided up there, but then whenever someone points out that these pro killers (who can all assume are at the highest levels of MMR) are out here slapping survivors left and right and getting 4ks, everyone is like "well of course THAT person can do it, they have X amount of hours"

So..... it seems like killers can do just fine at high MMR if they have the skill to do so and people who aren't doing well just aren't as good at the game as they think?

    Like, make it make sense.

Nah, I probably wouldn't use BBQ if it didn't have the BP boost. I feel like its popularity would shrink at least 50% of it didn't have it.

With that being said the most popular killer perk appears in 57.5% of matches whereas the most popular survivor perk appeared in 86% of matches. That being Deadhard.

Interesting how there's nothing even close to the dominance that DH has for survivors, almost like it's a busted perk with no equivalents on killer side.

Then why are they nerfing Boil Over?

Why did they nerf DS on multiple occasions?

Why did they announce a DH nerf?

The Devs make some really...questionable decisions but they get enough ######### for the stuff they do, don't make stuff up.

you're a reasonable person trying to have a rational argument with someone who isn't reasonable and that never ends well.

People like them are literally blind to any nerfs survivors get and feel like they're some kind of victims of oppression because they play a certain side of the game. Ironically, killers spend more time crying on the forums that anyone but they claim survivors cry all the time about reasonable complaints like oh let's see:

-trying to play and enjoy a game only to be facecamped by some troglodite

-having a killer purposefully block a device needed to survive and forcing survivors to do gens and have their head explode with no counterplay

But nah, it's just survivors crying about nothing right. Not like they want to enjoy a game or anything. The bias and hypocrisy on these forms is astounding and the person you're arguing with can't be reasoned with

That's not a solution. You would need to equip 10 perks with this mentality to prepare for everything.

I mean I've seen plenty of times on these forums where people say "just run Detective's Hunch or Small game" as a "solution" to not having time to check every Nook and cranny for totems when trying to prevent NOED.

    What's the difference?

  • This is an... interesting take. Why shouldn't it work if the killer drop down the stairs instead of walking down?

The perk already got nerfed and I'm curious as to why you feel it shouldn't work in this situation

  • okay but actually, you can still drop survivors. The only time you get stunned is if they have wiggled for long enough before you drop them, or if you pick them up and drop them 5 (or is it 4) times in a row

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2788470#Comment_2788470

That doesn't seem to be the norm.

If anything, there is an expectation that the killer gives the last survivor the hatch or gate - and if they don't, they are going to get cussed out in postgame.

In creeping up on 500 hours of killer now, I've had 2 survivors give me a 'pity kill' on a blowout game.

I thought my sarcasm was going to bleed through but I guess it didn't. Hard to tell in this polarizing environment but I was just throwing what the other person said back in there face because it was a dumb comment. I don't actually believe all killers are sweat lords looking for 4ks.

A lot maybe, but not all

  • When it comes to killers I play against:

    • Every Trickster and Deathslinger is going to play as scummy as possible
    • Demogorgon's typically play nice
    • Blight is either going to Steam roll you with 1 gen completed or be a complete joke (probably a new Blight)
    • Pumpkin head Nurse's play the game too much
    • Bubba is 98% going to face camp you. He likely has NOED too
    • Legion is going to have discordance. Stop touching my gen Claudette
    • A huntress with bad aim will almost always have NOED

Against solo potatoes who don't know how to do gens, you are correct. Against coordinated survivors who know how to do gens and know how to actually loop or even shift + W and pre-drop pallets, you are incorrect unless you're playing Nurse or Blight, and even then it's a struggle.

You and many other players just like to call killers bad in order to shame them from using those tactics whereas survivors are legendary players for crutching on 4 second chance perks and maps that are designed to give them an advantage over the killer.

Killers who tunnel and camp are not bad, its the survivors who fall due to those tactics that are bad. If the killer was really bad, the survivor should have no trouble distracting the killer long enough for the gens to pop, especially these days, with how 3 gens usually pop before a killer gets their first down.

Why do people here always paint survivors into 2 categories? It's always "4 potato solos" or "4 man coordinated swat team SWF". In the meantime, there are teams of solo players who can outplay you just as well andI'd bet 90% of SWFs are actually potatoes. This weird binary yall have in yall head of "Team is good = coordinated SWF. Team is bad = potato solos" is weird

I don't really see either of these statements as true, at least at the ranks I play at. I think it's more along the lines of people knowing that specific alignments of things are abuseable, and they want to either troll or flex their e-peen.

I really don't find much issue with Boil Over as it is, or even RPD, although I hate that map on both sides even more than I hated Hawkins. It's when you combine them on purpose that it becomes an issue. If it was random map chance you go to RPD, fine, it's how the game works. The issue(s) arise when people purposefully burn an Offering and load up on specific Perks, because this is just them trying to troll and abuse certain mechanics.

It's not necessarily trying for the 4k or 4e, it's just purposefully abusing specific mechanic(s) combinations to ruin the game for the other party.

I 100% agree. I was mostly just trolling the person who made that dumb comment because it's just a blatant overgeneralization that can easily be flipped the other way.

if everyone was looking for a 4 man escape, people wouldn't run meme builds or click their flashlights and if all killers were looking for 4ks we wouldn't have snoot booping and meme-ing killers. Too many people deal in absolutes here so I just troll people here and there when they made sweeping comments about either side tbh

Slug em, slug em all. Seriously though slugging beats out hook camping and tilts survivors beyond belief. Just down one survivor, then stand over them. Hit everyone who comes near. If they pick up just down them again. If they unbreakable just down them again as it's one time only.

Most survivors like running Dead hard, ds, iron will, and BT. Few actually run unbreakable and even fewer run unbreakable- + soul guard. If you leave them slugged they never get to use their bt and ds and it pisses them off cause they don't get to play at all. Is it boring? Yeah. But there's very little counters for slugging unless they have no mither. Which, let's be honest here ๐Ÿ˜‚

Resilience make Thanatophobia useless because give 9% to speed repairing and other actions so i think the 5% reparing malus must be improved to 9% so that at least they cancel each other out and in case there are not Resilience, against, its simple more usefull.

Thanataphobia is actually a useful perk that killers run. Resilience is not useful in many situations and it's better to play at full health. Buffing something that's already strong (and annoying and time consuming) because a perk almost no one uses would counter it makes no sense

Look, your argument boils down to ignoring survivors because they either have or might have second chance perks. That is not a solution. DS got all of its deactivation condition precisely because the devs didn't want it to be such a perk: "ignore me for 60 seconds or get stabbed"

Wouldacouldashoulda doesn't help me or anyone in this situation. In situation, there was zero counter to anything, because each counter was countered itself by yet another perk and I don't see why that should be my fault in any capacity.

You literally made a post asking how to counter 3 "second chance" perks and then asked, and I quote: "What should I have done here?"

Whether you like my answer or not, I answered your question. BT and DS would have been countered by attacking the person who did the unhooking instead of the person who got unhooked. From there, maybe they had dead hard but that perk is easy to bait out. The simple but hard truth is that you were so focused on going after the one person you wanted, that you didn't consider they had an anti-tunnel perk equipped.

I mean if you're just looking for confirmation bias and a bunch of fellow killer mains to say "you can't counter. all survivor perks OP. everything is against us" then you can just say that from the start and I'll keep my opinion to myself, but you asked a question and I gave you a straight answer

  • @Alionis said:

I still don't want to play killer anymore, I've stopped a few months ago, but unfortunately, the tomes rarely have a path that allow you to progress through its levels purely playing survivor, so I played some killer games again, and got a taste of why I stopped in the first place.

I had a Dwight on the hook during endgame collapse. He got unhooked by the survivor I knew had borrowed time, so I countered by waiting 20 seconds to hit Dwight, the gate was far enough away for that. When BT ran out, he used DH in the gate, since I positioned myself ahead of him, he dead-harded away from the entity spikes, allowing me to down him and pick him up before he could reach the escape threshold. He then used DS and escaped.

What should I have done here? They told me afterwards that with the right counters, their perks are perfectly fine. What counters are there? This was the epitome of "#########, I screwed, but let's press this button to reverse my mistake, so the killer can't win".

He was unhooked unsafely --> Borrowed Time fixed that.

I waited out his Borrowed Time --> Dead Hard fixed that.

I screwed up his Dead Hard --> Decisive Strike fixed that.

I got 3 second chance perks shoved in my face back-to-back and some people still defend this bullshit as being fair? I did everything right here and I was still punished for it. This stuff leaves an extremely sour aftertaste. I don't feel outplayed or outmatched in skill when the survivor skill is basically: press a button to fix your mistakes.

you should have gone for the unhooker. seems like you went through more trouble than necessary to tunnel someone off hook instead of going after the i'm assuming 3 people going for the save.

Unhooking is an animation lock so you can easily hit whoever goes for the grab. And if the gate was as far away as you described, you could have easily gotten someone else. Tunnel vision lost you that situation

  • I took it as a joke which is why I didn't bother responding lol

    Oh.

I've...literally never seen that before. If someone DCs before the match starts, the worst that'll happen is that I'll depip (and I think they changed that, I haven't seen 'Entity Displeased' for a while).

I've also never seen a killer DC - although I've had a ton recently AFK.

Interesting. I've seen plenty DC, both pre game, early game when their totem blows up, or even at the end of the game as all the survivors are about to exit. happens on both sides shrugs

I am fine doing this. This is not the situation being described in this post. Please re-read.

I read the post but when I talked about not slugging, I was specifically responding to fulltonon's comment? or did you not read the comment I responded to? i'm confused by your participation in this conversation lol

You see it everywhere, from top streamers to twitch chat randoms, saying that killers are the whiny side of the community and how survivors are "chill" for the most part. But every time I play this game I see survivors bming, using slurs, toxic in post game chat etc and I never see killers doing any of this, is this anyone elses experience or am I the only one that sees this? Survivors just generally seem to care way too much about a game on the same level as mario kart in terms of competitive but hey maybe its just me.

This is honestly the funniest take I've seen on these orums filled with people who say "hmmm, 2k 2 escape should be the norm and the standard for balance" being met with a resounding "NO I NEED 3-4 KILLS OR I'VE FAILED MY JOB AS KILLER"

The player base is HELLA sweaty on both sides but we're def not gonna pretend like killers ain't sweaty try hards in here.
