Moris are most definitely not "fair" otherwise people wouldn't disconnect straight away during the offering screen to cancel the match.

I rarely use moris myself because I always notice how much easier the game is if the first survivor literally gets thrown out of the game within a minute. The thing is though moris are -animation wise- awesome. Everytime a new killer gets released I immediately search for a mori clip.

Question is how do you keep moris without making them irrationally strong while keeping them useful?

    Good question.

I'm not one of the people who thinks moris should be removed because I like them in the game. I think they would be more balanced with an additional requirement. On top of the survivor having to be hooked once, the killer should also have to hook another survivor in order to activate the mori on the first person.

As it stands now, whoever gets hooked first in a match with a mori present usually gets camped and/or tunneled and removed from the match with like 3k points. The killer should be required to go apply pressure to someone else and get another hook before they're allowed to mori that first person.

  • @supersonic853 said:

apparently to people moris are hard to get yet i get a mori like every bloodweb or 2 (the red one) .But i personally think them in themselves are fair because once you know the killer has it you can play a lot more cautious. Like if the killer knows a survivor has a key theyll try to either get rid of it or kill the survivor.

Totally agree. I play both sides and without question, I'm way more likely to find Moris in the bloodweb (sometimes 2 or 3 in the same level) than I am to find keys. From level 1 to level 50, you're lucky if you get like 3 or 4 keys and only one of them will be the pink one. Meanwhile once you hit level 30, there's almost a mori in every bloodweb from there to 50

  • This is the most dramatic thing I've ever read I think

  • And in fact, I would argue keys are MORE fair than moris, because at least there's a requirement that has to be met that takes some time.

I can hook someone in the first minute of the game depending on the killer I play and if I outsmart the survivor. Then they get Mori'd in less than 2 minutes.

In order to use a key, we have to be deep into the game, have gens completed, FIND the hatch which is difficult on some levels, easy on others, and then coordinate to get the team there if you're escaping with your team.

The conditions for pulling off a Mori are ways easier than the conditions for pulling off a hatch escape (and that difficulty increases depending on the number of people left alive)

  • I'll just put it this way.

For anyone who says keys are not fair because they allow the survivors to escape without completing the objective, answer the question "Are Mori's fair?"

If your answer to keys is no, but to mori's is yes, I need you to examine your bias because moris do the EXACT same thing, and worse if it's an ebony. You go from needing a max of 12 hooks for a 4k to only needing 4 (one on each person). Meaning you only need to do 33% of the work it would take to win a match normally.

  • I was literally going to say the same thing. Play any killer.

I've beaten SWF's with Trapper and Wraith and I've lost to them while using Spirit and Huntress. Each team is a different team with different skill levels and you can pressure people into making mistakes.

Just get better at whatever killer you want to use

  • I am a survivor main and short of prayer beads, Spirit is perfect. She's fun to play against

  • It's amazing how many people are casually excusing racism in this thread alone.

Words do matter, especially if they have a racist history attached to them. Something that might be "just a word" to you (I hope the people saying the n word is "just a word" are Black, because otherwise I worry that yall probably use it yourselves) can hold a lot more significance to someone else.

  • Matchmaking is broken in general. I was running solo yesterday and got put in a lobby with 3 rank 15-16 survivors and I'm rank 6. There was no reason for me to be in that lobby

  • getting a 4k with an Ebony Mori is easy. what are yall talkin about?

Mending is usually inefficient at high ranks. Lost so many games cause people waste whole game mending.

git gud, loop well and nonody needs to get mended.

that had nothing to do with the OP.

OP was discussing how newer people just either don't know what mending is or they forget to do it and they go down from the borrowed time. I've seen it happen a few times.

  • Also, can we stop with the ridiculous suggestions for further nerfing survivors. Iron Maiden is meant for shock value more than anything. I've had it pay off on a few occasions where someone went into a locker to hide, then came out and I happened to be close enough to capitalize. It's not meant to be some OP perk

Iron Maiden is literally useless though, that's the issue. Only Huntresses use it.

ummm what? Huntress is literally the WORST killer to use it on. No one goes into a locker against the huntress because the Huntress is the one character that opens lockers regularly to refill.

Of course when I see a 100% swf with map, key and two insta heals. Why wouldn't I? The game is not balanced for this at Rank 1

except you don't know if someone is running an insta-heal in a lobby??? so not really a good excuse.

I sometimes run medkits so that I don't have to use self care (this was before Inner Strength/Second Wind when there were no other ways to heal yourself besides self care or a med kit)

Well, I have to disagree with you on one thing here. I don't need 4ks either, and Kilelr is stressful for me. Cause I still want to do WELL. I still want to have an effect on the match. I feel like if I don't put my focus and energy into it, I won't even get close to that. That's part of the stress. There isn't a moment you can just breathe, you are always after the next gen, the next survivor, the next noise notification. Constant, unrelenting, noise. I have t change my playstyle as Killer, it's part of the whole thing. I have no idea what amazing tactics you use that work on every Killer and every map, but please tell me so I can relax more!

Don't get me wrong. Even though I'm okay going out with 2 kills, the majority of my games end in 3ks and 4ks because unless the survivor team is super coordinated, the current state of the game is too easy for killers in the middle ranks (as I see it and I know the wrath of killer mains is going to come down for that comment).

I mainly play Michael, Trapper, Wraith, and Huntress. 3 of which are m1 killers essentially and can be played very similarly, and the Huntress who imo in the right hands is the most powerful killer (I'm not that good with her yet).

And the only killer I use Ruin on is Trapper. I run whispers on every killer, I find people early and I apply as much pressure as I can early on. Tends to work most matches, believe it or not.

  • My friends and I who are all around ranks 10-13 current were in a 3 man SWF and got a random rank 17 on our team so sometimes matchmaking just sucks? Might not be a SWF

There's communication possible in the pre-game lobby and sometimes people are bored and just want to mess around.

I was in a match where we went to the basement with head on and just kind of rotated lockers periodically (only for about 5 minutes) until the killer found us. He ended up letting us live and memeing with us

  • Honestly, I'm more stressed as survivor than as killer. But I think it's because of my attitude toward the game and the fact that I don't think I need a 4k. Literally I'm happy going out of a match with 2 kills

Survivor stresses me out more because of bs hits that really shouldn't have hit me, crappy teammates, and my playstyle is dictated by the killer. Oh the killer is playing fair and going after different people? Cool, I can just play normally. Oh this killer is playing like a dick? Now i have to alter my whole playstyle to accommodate the camper/tunneler/slugger/whatever that particular killer is doing. As killer, I never have to change my playstyle.

  • So if we're judging wins based on only kills/survival then I think we can all agree based on statistics that the game is killer sided and survivors need buffs :)

Last I remember, average survival rate was around 40%? Probably lower now after the multitude of survivor nerfs and killer buffs.

So I'll be taking survivor buff ideas. XD

  • I don't see any reason why both shouldn't go into effect?

Like, you get the borrowed time effect if you get hit in that time AND when the pink add-on timer finishes, you'd be instantly healed as long as you didn't go down. That would make sense to me

Ah but that is one of many anti tunnelling techniques, the other is called "hook gymnastics" where you attempt unhooks (make sure the bar doesn't fill) and stop whenever the killer isn't camping. The other is "booking it when you get unhooked so it's much harder for the killer to zip straight back"

Nurse Billy and spirit? Sure they can. Hag? Only if a trap is triggered or she's running mint rag which is jumping to conclusions, Freddy? Sure if your hooked near a gen which doesn't always happen

lol I literally put (Hag with mint rag) in parenthesis to point out that her ability is situational. It wasn't me jumping to conclusions.... -_-

Ok let me school you on the maths of dying light. Without any obsession changes the "max" stacks is 27%.

This 27% means nothing because he obsession isn't affected by the slowdown if dying light and in in this same situation only has a 4% action speed debuff from thanatophobia.

As for your second point it's defeated by your first. Your argument there appears to be based on dying light having max stacks which doesn't affect the obsession. The only thing the last survivor would be doing is either self caring or opening an exit gate, the later isn't affected by anything but remember me.

16 second base heal. 20 seconds with sloppy butcher, add 4% which makes it

    20/100/0.2*4=0.8 seconds so

At maximum it's a 21 second heal. 5 seconds more than a usual self care

As for your last point. No. No i never even considered swf as unbreakable is a perk that's strong for both swf and solo, buckle up is strong for solo and at most flip flop is stronger in a swf.

I know how Dying Light works. Thanks for the numbers though. A 27% speed debuff is a lot. And that's a debuff to gens AND healing.

Which leads to my second point about stacking which is a point you brought up in your original post. Dying Light + Thanataphobia + Sloppy Butcher can make healing time anywhere between 20-40 seconds depending on the number of stacks on dying light and thanat.

My point about mentioning SWF was because we were talking about wasting time. If I don't know the person who is slugged has Unbreakable, I'm going to get off my gen to go help them so slugging people still wastes survivors time and not just the person on the ground.

  • @Lucama said:

There's a perfectly good strategy to not get "tunneled" as well, and that's waiting for the killer to move more than 5 feet from the hook before unhooking. Why should the killer be punished because survivors go for an unsafe hook?

Talk about jumping to conclusions. Tunneling doesn't just happen because of unsafe hooks. Killers like Nurse, Billy, Spirit, Freddy (Hag with mint rag) can just zip back/teleport back to the hook whenever they want to regardless of distance. Also with how fast killers are, a lot of them will just walk straight back to the hook even if they were a reasonable distance away for the survivor to consider unhooking.

  • So you mean if you're chasing someone..... and then stop for 4 seconds and stand completely still.

I'm pretty sure the chase will be broken even without insidious because in the 4 seconds of you standing still, they would have gotten away.

But to answer your question, yes. If you're in the insidious mode, you have no terror radius or red stain and even if they run directly in front of you, I don't think it gives you chase points

  • @Seltas0208 said:

No because dying light can never have full stacks while 3 people are injured, unless everyone ran decisive in which case it's still 3/4ths of a gen , maybe more 2.7/4ths of a gen when factoring in the dying light stacks

And sorry if I'm mirroring your deliverance argument but who runs thanatophobia and manages to keep it at more that 2 stacks apart from legion and plague? And how often do you see those killers? Not very often

No I didn't mention slugging as you accurately say but remember perks like unbreakable and flip flop exist (the anti slugging perks) which puts the killer into the damed if you do damed if you don't situation , and most decisive users also use unbreakable. There's plenty of anti slugging strategies in the game,

And now to focus on the "gen pressure" you say the killer gets, a standard heals worth of time, which isn't affected by decisive , and then that survivors gets 44 seconds to just work away at a gen without any risk as if they get grabbed or go into a chase they have 40 seconds left.

What do you mean Dying Light can never have full stacks? Dying Light stacks are activated by anyone who is not obsession getting hooked..... do you even know how the perks work?

That stacked with Thanataphobia and multiple people being injured and a killer running sloppy to make healing take even longer (and yes, Plagues are in matches very often. I run into just as many Plagues as I do Billys.

As far as your point about Unbreakable, you're kind of making the assumption that the team is a SWF and knows the person has unbreakable. If I see someone get slugged, I usually stop what I'm doing to go pick them up. I have no idea if they have Unbreakable or not.

Do you guys have the same feeling or is it just me?

The devs give less and less statements, they answer less and less critical questions on live streams (last stream they didn't even answer a single question/concern of the community). Dedicated servers are running for 2 weeks already, no informations given from bhvr what's up with that, how the results are etc

So many feedback posts regarding nurse, not a single statement where the devs want to position themselves regarding that.

Feedback about the rift pass wasn't addressed either.

I personally have the feeling the devs want to become "professional" like some big companies, decide for the customers what's bettter for them "cuz they don't know" and only address stuff which causes a massive drop of players as an emergency tool.

What I personally would wish for the game is if they would implement us more into decisions they make. Not only when the stuff is already finished and done but much earlier in the planing and concepts. At least fog whisperers should be there very close to bhvr and representing what the community wants while trying their best to give everyone the most fun and balanced experience.

They always keep saying that "dbd isn't our game, it's your game" but around the 3rd anniversary I don't feel it that way.

    Two points:

    1. The last time Devs released stats about the game, the general attitude on the forums was "oh these are biased, these are fake, these aren't accurate, there's no way the survival rate is around 40%, etc. So what's the point in releasing stats when everyone isn't going to believe them or just flat out deny them anyway?
    2. The forums is not reflective of the whole player base and half the things people whine about on the forums are things that the majority of the player base don't care about at all. Most of us just suck it up, deal with it, and adapt.
  • @Seltas0208 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/773798#Comment_773798

Hmmmmmmmm yes , a killer giving you 60 seconds to do what you want is totally fair when all 4 survivors are running it.

And as far as my post if you actually read it (although I should've made it more clear) is that survivors have too many strong perks that stack due to all 4 of them using it which puts even more of a time crunch on the killer.

Although upon further thought deliverance is the outlier in that list but it's no where near as bad as your making it out to be, and combo that with decisive the issue about it being useless against campers is kinda dealt with , not factoring in borrowed time.

But let's delve in on that 60 second timer, that's an entire evil within 3. If that was to say be buffed in terms of its lunge distance or its vaulting speed and any complaints about it were met with the argument of "just don't get hit" would that be fair? No. No it wouldn't.

It's not a "free 60 seconds" though. That time is usually spent getting away from the killer, either self healing or finding someone to heal them, maybe for those that don't care about being injured working on a gen (outside of the daredevils at rank 1, that's uncommon).

PLUS, you're also applying pressure to a NEW person and keeping them off a gen.

And I didn't even mention slugging which is something most people do anyway when they know someone has DS. Put that person on the ground then chase someone else, you have 2 people not doing gens and probably 3 because someone has to go heal the slugged person. There are plenty of anti-D strike strats in the game already.

As far as your point about things stacking, Killer perks stack. As soon as the new Dying Light was released, there were a lot of killer running that in conjunction with Thanataphobia, Sloppy, and either Ruin or PGTW. If you want to talk about time wasting, have you ever gone up against a killer running those perks together with full Dying Light stacks, 3 people injured, and no one finding Ruin. That's massive time added to gens

  • Ummmm, what?

There's a perfectly good strategy for not getting hit by DS and it's called NOT tunneling. But maybe it never crosses certain people's brains to go after the person who did the unhooking instead of going for the non skillfull cheap kill. But i digress...

PGTW depending on the gen progress can waste MASSIVE amounts of time. Thanataphobia wastes time. Dying Light wastes time. What point are you actually trying to make here? Because your post makes no sense.

And you want to complain about Head On? XD in order to even get a stun, the survivor has to go into a locker and be there for at least 3 seconds. then has to HOPE that the killer walks directly in front of that locker to use. The set up time for the perk usually outweighs the stun effect.

Deliverance? You mean the perk that gets totally nullified if either A: you get found and hooked first in a match, B: everyone gets the saves before you, or C: the killer camps and tunnels the person and you can't get a safe unhook. That perk is trash and not useful enough to work on a consistent basis

  • I mean, I honestly don't feel bad because before dedicated servers, I would get hit after I vaulted a window AND took like 2 steps into my running animation and on their end, it was somehow a clean hit.

I've yet to experience any lag when I play as killer

  • Literally just having fun. As survivor, if I get destroyed by a killer who isn't tunneling or camping anyone and is just outplaying us, I'm cool. If I have a few good chases and die, I'm cool. If I escape, cool but I don't need to.

As killer, as long I get some good mind games in and some cheeky hits, I'm good. I don't I've ever got no kills at all so I've been happy with 1k games as well as 4k games.

Pips and rank mean nothing to me. I just want a fun game. To chase and to be chased.

  • @MisterCremaster said:

What are you guys defining as sweaty killers? I think the definition is a bit variable on here... Some people seem to think its just killers going hard for the 4k, others that are trying to make the game not fun for people (by going for 4k?)

Usually the only times I call a killer sweaty is:

    • Coming in with a Black Ward (usually meaning they're running some crazy adds ons that's about to make the game miserable for me)
    • Slugging for a 4k, especially when there's still like 4 or 5 gens still up and we've barely got anything done. You've already won at that point. Just hook the person and search for hatch when it spawns. Unless you get crappy RNG, your faster speed basically assures that the killer reaches it first anyway.
    • Running an Ebony Mori AND Ultra Rare add ons together (Iri heads, one shot clown bottle, etc)
  • She needed the nerf. Any character in any game that is granted their own tier should be brought down a few notches.

The previous Nurse with NO ADD ONS was better than every other killer with their best add ons equipped. Depending on the skill level of the Nurse, I've seen Nurses go with NO PERKS and NO ADD ONS and still get a 4k. Yes, base kit needed a nerf also because she was an OP character. I don't like using the word OP to describe things, but it accurately applied to her pre-nerf in the right hands

  • @malloymk said:

The real solution is this. Leave things as is but give a postgame bloodpoint bonus to killers.

    4 man squad - 100% bonus

    3 man 1 solo - 75%

    2 different 2 man squads - 50%

    2 man squad and 2 solos - 25%

    There. Problem solved.

killers don't need any more bloodpoints than the ridiculous amount they already get.

  • So are you asking if you can stack the effects?

Like, you get the endurance effect from the purple so you don't get downed and you're also getting your heal over time effect while that's happening so you are fully healed too? Would be interesting to test I guess.

I also don't know what the Endurance effect means. Does that mean you can just tank a hit like borrorwed time?

  • There were 2 dicks in this situation.

The survivor who farmed and the killer who was perfectly able of punishing the farmer but instead also decided to be a dick.

  • I play against almost every killer in red ranks so I don't know where these threads come from. I see plenty of Freddy's, Hags, Huntresses, Wraiths, Bubba's, and all kinds of things at red ranks.

  • Obsessions often get tunneled/camped for numerous reasons

    • Old Dying Light
    • Rancor at the end of the game
    • Remember Me (they can open doors normal speed)
    • To get rid of their D-Strike
    • I'm sure there's other I can't remember.

All of these things typically result in some unlucky bastard getting less points than the rest of the team, sometimes through no control of their own. I for example don't run any obsession perks but I am sometimes the obsession.

So what? It's counterable. You want better killers? Be a better survivor and punish the behavior

I don't camp unless I got people rushing the hook before I leave. It's pointless as a good set of survivors will punish the behavior. I've learned better and do other things.

Punish the behavior, and those who want to be rewarded stop. Say nothing about the camping and move on, you deny the trolls who camp you for lols what they want.

It's a win win either way.

But posts like this? They just feed the trolls...

You're missing the point of the post. No one cares about counters or legitimacy. The entire point is that people who camp in the early game are boring as hell. End statement.

We don't care about punishing it by gen rushing and having other people escape. That doesn't make the match any more fun. The killer is still a boring person and made the match boring for everyone involved

Why all the girls below all the guys?

They're shorter and better at hiding. Not to mention they just look better and thicc Jane is a goddess.

    Also Feng is bae

  • If you quickly tap a gen and let go immediately, you get a bloodpoint (sometimes 2). Then just hide in a locker the rest of the game outside the terror radius so you don't get boldness points

I only know this because I saw some ######### on my team get 4 points and was just as confused

  • As survivor, I do whatever it takes to make sure my team lives. I'm decent at stalling time when I don't make boosted decisions and have had a few matches where I looped killers for 3-5 gens (the 5 gen was a baby nurse, but to be fair I was still less that 500 hours in the game at that point too so.... eh)

I prefer not to do gens but I'll do them if someone else is in chase. I'm altruistic but not to a stupid extent. Like, if I'm being camped and I tell my friends to just do gens and let me die, they still come anyway and then all of us die like I said would happen. If I know someone is being hard-camped, especially by Bubba, I say sorry and I gen rush. Outside of hard camping though, I will make every attempt to save other people, even if it means I die.

As killer: I play the way I would want killers to play against me, which basically means I don't tunnel unless it's the only person I can find. I don't camp (except for one game where I was doctor and the person had calm spirit and was a pain in the ass to catch). Everything else is fair game.

  • This idea might be a little crazy but I'll throw it out there. I personally have no issue with looping because like OP said, if you're in a chase what else are you supposed to do? But I just randomly thought of this idea when i woke up this morning so here we go.

Remove scratch marks, replace with footprints.

Hear me out for a second.

    1. Dumb reason out the way first: Scratch marks are dumb anyway and make no sense. Leaving footprints on the floor when you run actually does.
    2. This would buff stealth during a chase, so after you get hit that first time and get your burst of speed and try to break line of sight, you can choose to keep running or to duck behind a corner and hide. The killer at that point would have to be looking for your footsteps, your bloodtrail, or your hurt sounds for tracking. (stealth buff to No Mither?)

That's basically all I've thought about so far. Haven't really fleshed out the idea completely but it would make mid-chase stealth a viable option, especially if you're running something like Iron Will or No Mither (or both). The way the game is now, stealth is rarely an option once the chase has initiated

The Hatch punishes Killers for doing their job while rewarding Survivors for NOT doing their job.

Survivors don't work together? They don't complete generators? Don't heal each other? Don't Unhook? Rewarded with Hatch

Killer maxes out literally everything, sacrifices 3 people? Punished with Survivor free Hatch Escape

And please, The Killer closing the Hatch isn't even a death sentence, The Survivor can STILL escape by opening the doors because most of the time the doors are so far apart a survivor can open one before the killer even gets to them.

If the Hatch remains RNG: After 3 survivors are Sacrificed all generators are blocked, doors are revealed to all indefinitely, The Hatch spawns Closed and must be opened to work. The Hatch plays the same sound as a Door when it's being opened for the same radius as a Door. Door Opening perks apply and it takes the same time to open as a door.

If it becomes stationary for all maps: Spawns opened, cannot be closed, both players no longer have collision within 10 meters of The Hatch, The Hatch closes after 1 minute, starting End Game Collapse.

By Collision I mean with each other, not Noclipping through objects

Edit: Tbh you're all making good points. Although I think Keys should not exist and The Pig's traps should kill or have some sort of effect when on the head of a survivor when they jump in the hatch. Even if it's like "-1000 points"

So everyone has already addressed this nonsense post and explained why hatch is fine, but I just gotta address this one line you had in there where you said:

"And please, The Killer closing the Hatch isn't even a death sentence, The Survivor can STILL escape by opening the doors because most of the time the doors are so far apart a survivor can open one before the killer even gets to them."

This could not be further from the truth and both survivor mains and killer mains know that the doors more often that not, are like 2 feet from each other. My friends and I are shook when the doors actually do what they should do and spawn on opposite sides of the map

  • The only thing I would say about this is that her Add On to start with a fountain already corrupted should be a Purple or Pink add on. That's too powerful to be a green

  • Happened to me once over a year ago and I just left the game. The survivors kept healing me and as soon as I got up, the killer would knock me back down. Went on for like 2-3 minutes before I just said F it.

My personal answer in that case would be yes, but I'm sure someone will say no or just wait until you eventually bleed out or something

  • The fact that you're playing both sides is a good start. That's usually my advice to all people at low ranks or who are just getting into the game. When you learn how each role thinks, you learn how to counter or predict what they'll do. Good for mind games

Other than that, I would say watch how different streamers play who are pretty good at the game and see some of the things they do or don't do. (I'm pretty boosted sometimes, but I typically hit rank 1 survivor every season that I have time to play and I've been as high as rank 6 killer. But there's much better streamers than me out there)

If you have a friend who is good at the game on one side or the other (or both) practice against them in Kill Your Friends and have them play serious. You'll probably get stomped at first but you learn best through experience.

  • Basically to be expected with the awful amount of bloodpoints survivors get, even while having an amazing game.

Everyone is playing killer. Even my fellow survivor main friends have been playing killer a lot recently.

Killers are getting more BP, but they have to keep spending more on their bloodweb for add-ons. There are items for survivors. I can just farm from chests and keep it most of them if I escape. No need to spend more BP for items after I get enough perks I needed.

Rework WGLF or boost survivors BP someway are welcome cause I play 50/50 both.

I'm more around a 70/30 survivor main currently, but I would argue (MOST) killers don't HAVE to use add ons. I've seen plenty of Hags, Spirits, Billys, Nurses, Myers, Ghostfaces, Huntresses and other killers stomp teams with no add ons, and in some cases, no perks

Yeah, you tell them not to use a reference point. I don't know how they don't realize these are the killer Forums. They are just TOXIC, and never learn these survivors.

I see. Thank you for informing me. Where do I find the antidote for the toxicity that is inherently inside me as a survivor main?

I agree but I just thought it was like you know common courtesy to not play like a dick when double points

Oh quite the opposite. The first day of double BP, had a ghostface face camp and tbag in front of me until I died. The next match was an ebony Mori hag.

People play even more like ######### during double BP and then they'll get to post game chat and won't say anything which is how you know they're just waiting for you to be salty so they can say something "witty" and then leave
