As long as no one is tunneled or camped, I enjoy the game. (If we're in Endgame, it's a different story of course)
But that's it. I don't care about dying, I don't care about getting mori'd late in the game (as long as it's not immediately off first hook).
I (and I'm sure most survivors) just want to be able to play the game and have our teammates play the game. Like, even if I'm not the one being camped, if someone else is getting face camped, that makes the game boring because I either have to die to save them or I just hold m1 on a generator and leave the match with like 12k points

Correction. NONE of those things you list are the so-called "toxic." Those are play style tactics and strategies on both sides of the coin. The term "toxic" needs to be purged from our collective vocabulary because it means whatever anyone wants it to mean. The only damaging behavior, to the community, is being a bad sport (or person) in the pre-game and post-game chatter. Caveat, the endless whining, shaming, and rants about "toxic" behavior over here on the Forum is also bad.
What happens in the game, stays in the game. Those things you describe are choices and can be answered by other choices in the game. Too much energy is wasted on them. Your bait to try and weigh in on what behaviors you PREFER is just another version of shaming and wasting our time. What we need to be tackling are people who disconnect and ruin games for other players, people who insult, threaten, shame, and say creepy crud like "I hope your cat dies... you camper!" Those things are bad and worthy of discussion. The stuff you are talking about should only be discussed in posts that offer suggestions and advice on how to counter play it.
There's a reason I chose my wording carefully and said "considered to be toxic by their opponents".
I agree that most (because slugging someone and letting them bleed out with no one else to chase isn't a "strategy") of what I said isn't ACTUALLY toxic. But those things are perceived to be toxic by the community and by players.
I also agree and said at the end of my post that we should never defend and should go after people who say harmful things or make threats (however empty they may be) in post game chat
-
For the People is my favorite and I think it's fine.
We'll Make It, Borrowed Time, BBQ, PGTW, Saboteur, Inner Strength, Monitor, Whispers. All solid
-
I love how people are rushing to say "slugging is necessary. blah blah blah" when the OP already said that and knows that because they are a killer main.
We're not talking about tactical slugging for pressure. We're talking about just knocking someone on the ground for 3 whole minutes and never even attempting to pick them up with hooks nearby and no one else alive. That's not tactical, that's just being a dick.
-
You only have to be there to pop it so like people have said, either see if randoms are willing to 99% gens for you or get in a SWF group and have them do it for you.
The only issue becomes PGTW which damn near every killer is running
-
When I play killer and get baby survivors, I give them extra chances. Or I'll mind game them so they can see how better killers play and then I'll just leave them there for someone to pick up and hope they learned.
For survivor going against a baby killer, you can't exactly do that so I usually play normally and wait until at least the rest of the team is safe, then give them a kill if no one died
-
I gotta ask. What rank are you?
-
- Because it counters and wastes the perk.
- You can use that time to break totems and search chests
I typically only do this if it's a plague. Because the plague runs corrupt and then pukes on all the gens that aren't covered to have early gen control. So while she's doing that, I just go around and break totems. Why should I go get sick on a gen?
-
Fun: Huntress without Iri Head, a non face camping Bubba, Nurse that isn't a god Nurse.
Okay: Myers, Trapper, Wraith, Billy,
Hate: Legion, Freddy, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Hag
-
because that'd be BS?
-
The real question is why can't both sides be like that. Most killers will cry about survivors being OP if they left the game with 2 kills even though that should be the ideal outcome
-
This one isn't really advanced, but knock out a center gen first/early. It split the map
-
If someone is about to go into struggle on first hook, farm them. That may sound like a dick move but:
- The killer has to spend time to pick them back up and re-hook them
- If the person has D-strike, they'll get a chance to use it (or the killer may leave them alone for 60 seconds because they think the survivor may have it in which case they'll probably waste time patrolling anyway)
Either way, unless you're going to get grabbed or unless it's a chainsaw killer just farm them.
-
He used the new perk "Phone a Friend".
Called on an Iri Head Huntress who has a new add on to make hatchets invisible.
Long story short, just be better than the cheater next time
-
I have Ace at Prestige 2 Level 33ish but as soon as I prestige him again, all my survivors will be at P3. Ace is the last one because i just don't like him and he's scummy.
I also gotta raise him, Dwight, David, and Jake back to level 50 so they'll be done. Or at least as done as I care to raise them. I pretty much only use the female characters and Jeff anyway
-
That's actually a pretty popular opinion tbh
-
Also, you chose to close hatch in that clip instead of going after the survivor across the map knowing he was right by a door. You made that play. How is this post even about the hatch which the survivor didn't use to escape XD
-
did you even check the recent threads before creating this? lol
Anyway, yes it should.
-
Not sure about a CD, but I can give her my mixtape.
-
Nah he's actually a pain in the ass to play against. If he stacks slow down add ons, those matches are painful
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
So like when killers refuse to commit to a chase when they have a 3 gen ‘strat’?
I'm honestly guessing this is what happened here. OP had a 3 gen strat and instead of leaving the gens alone, they decided to constantly come back to the gens.
The survivors, only 2 of them left knowing there's no way to get the gens done probably decide "well screw it, guess we can't get the gens done then" Probably searched every chest, broke every totem. I guess people expect survivors to just run in and get themselves killed because they're losing? Idk, why should they try to go complete a gen that's being patrolled while only having 2 players left?
If the killer actually REALLY searched the map, there's no way to hide for 2 hours. They would get found eventually. There's no area on the map where you can hide that well.
-
Honestly I've been having pretty decent game running Corrupt, Whispers, and the pretty much any 2 perks from there. I think my other two slots are Dying Light and Thana or Thana and Brutal Strength.
It's not the best build and there's no synergy but Myers biggest issue is his early game. That's fixed by throwing on Whispers to make sure you find people as fast as possible and having Corrupt so you don't have to travel very slowly across the entire map. Once you hit tier 2, you just play normally from there. If you have PGTW, it's good on any killer so why not throw it on. Up to you.
-
It should honestly be extended for these reasons alone.
Error 112
That almost full day timeframe where it was almost impossible to even make a lobby as survivor. Like it really just wouldn't load so that was a whole day gone.
Stuck in a rock glitch still exist
-
@TheButcher said:
It's been a serious problem. Any amount of gen's left, but only 2 survivors remaining. The two survivors will hide, and refuse to do gens. Just to have a chance at getting the free win from the hatch. Taking the game hostage, or until the Killer finds one of them.
Just played in a match for 2 hours, simply because I had nothing better to do anyways (so I wasn't forced to DC). Wanted to see how long it would go for, and when I could actually find one.
@Peanits Any dev's want to explain to me again why adding the hatch to stop players from taking the game hostage was a good idea even in the first place? Because imo it did nothing but cause players to take the game hostage anyway they can for the easy/free win.
There's absolutely no way someone can hide on a DBD map for 2 hours without you finding them. You didn't even try.

Gonna make this a shorter post.
Killers and survivors both have resources to manage.
Survivors: Pallets, Windows, Loops
Killers: Time
Survivors have to know how long it takes to get to loop or window or pallet and keep track of how many pallets they have left.
Killers have to be able to manage their time efficiently or they lose the game, the faster the survivors go, the worse the killer has it.
DS (especially with BT) wastes the killers time, either the killer eats the DS wasting minimum of 20s just to redown his last survivor, or the killer has to wait 60 seconds before picking up the person he downed, possibly even picking themselves up and running off.
With more than one of these the killer loses at minimum a full minute of progress in a game where normal matches take between 5-10 minutes. Survivors time pressure on the otherhand is lessened by the fact that excluding endgame builds, killers grow weaker as the match goes on, as the gates open up, as the hatch becomes available.
Most matches end between 5-7 minutes and with thise short time frames, yes DS (In its current state) is extraordinarily powerful and the only ways to keep it from activating is to simply not play the game and let the survivor go.
TL;DR DS in itself wouldnt be a problem but with BT and with the game.in its current state it is tremendously strong, and when combined with BT has no effective counterplay. The only thing you can do is take the punishment for them having it or not play the game.
Two things.
- I think killers get stronger as the match goes on, not weaker. The farthest gen usually gets done first which shrinks the amount of area they have to patrol. And even if the survivors space the gens out, patrolling 3 or 4 gens is a lot easier by default than patrolling the 7 that start on the map. Plus pallets get used early so some places that would be good loops in early game simply become extra dead zones later in the match.
- I'm not sure if you meant BT or Unbreakable at the end of your post because Unbreakable + DS is usually the combo people complain about.

Idk, try the maps which have no loops around where the stun happens or pallets nearby.
I'm sure you have enough hours to have played survivor and understand that.
The reason I stated that people on here present a very specific scenario to try to justify the strength of the perk is because they always come up with the most 'out there' survivor-sided situations, that it is laughable to me when on the flip side of it, if the survivor didn't have DS they would have found themselves in a very bad situation because of how lackluster some set ups are. (especially after they have nerfed the amount of pallets and moved set ups around).
PS. When I said "immobilized" It was a sarcastic way of saying "invincible" which is the word that many love to use here. Because in reality DS doesn't give you invincibility. It doesn't render the killer unable to down you.
The only map that's even remotely close to what you're describing is maybe the cornfield map with killer shack in dead center and all the pallets and jungle gyms are on the outside of the map or maybe Shelter woods

JFI gen can be done so fast that game does not even count is as complited i myself expirienced it and also there is a record
Congrats you found an outlier that rarely happens. The killer in the clip knew they had 4 toolboxes with bnp and all spawned together. He shouldn't have wasted time setting up that second trap.
So outside of this super rare example, which might happen 1 in every 1000 games or so (literally never happened in the over 2k hours I've played) this isn't really a thing you'll see every day
If I find a clip of Bubba killing all 4 survivors at the same time, does that mean Bubba OP or did I just happen to find something that rarely happens....

you dont understand the gameplay i advice you to reread my post for several times then perhaps you will cease describing your veiw of gameplay where everything is simple and "i just go for another person i dont understhad how DS is strong perk"
>f that's how your games go and you're taking 3 minutes to chase someone,
you keep proving that you dont understand the gameplay, first of all it depends on map and perks , you might get red forest while you are slow m1 killer so it might take 1min to only find someone+ 1-2 min to catch them because all palets are still there,
LOL clearly you don't understand gameplay either because a gen can't be done in 20-30 seconds. MAYBE if all 4 survivors spawn on top of it with brand new parts and speed add ons on the best toolbox. But if that happens and you aren't finding anybody, then again..... your skill and game sense need to be checked. Run Whispers. I'm always in a chase within the first 20 seconds of the match (assuming i'm not running Trapper/Hag or someone that needs a set up).
You keep proving that you lack skill.

Overlooked above is the original poster saying “Dead Hard is trash.”
I’m a killer main so maybe I’m way off here, but my impression is that Dead Hard is extremely popular specifically because it gets the survivor just that little bit of extra distance they need in a loop sometimes to just barely get to a pallet drop or vault before the killer can hit them. Not every loop falls in that category obviously but it probably happens in about 1/3 or 1/4 chases which is once a game that if a survivor can time a Dead Hard right it gets them to that pallet/vault and avoids the hit had they not had the perk.
Does the original poster think Dead Hard is trash because it’s hard to make a killer swing through you with it? If that’s all they’re trying to do with it then yeah, the perk is bad at directly dodging a basic attack. But, correct me if I’m wrong, the good survivors who use it use it to gain a bit of distance at a key moment, that’s it’s strength.
I understand both uses of Dead Hard. It does it's job when you're trying to get extra distance.
But when you're in a dead zone and you use a perk that's supposed to let you slide through an attack and either A, it never goes off when you press the button or B, it activates, makes you exhausted and you still get hit, it becomes trash.
I completely understand that the primary use of the perk should be for distance to a window or pallet, but that doesn't negate the fact that it's trash at doing something else it should do effectively

you dont even understand the gameplay. What are you rank 10?
Before creating topic i advice you to learn it. First of all, game is not always in a stage where 5 gens are unrepaired and survs are spreaded all over map so you can calmy choose any survivior and take any chase, this stage lasts for 1-3 min.
in actual game you hook a survivior A and survivior B having desicive strike/borrow time unhooks survivior A while you not even 16 meters away, 1-2 remaining gens are on 30-60% progress any bad chase means losing a gen. You cant punish unhooked survs because of DC, so you have to make an entire chase without getting any profit of it, (cant hook, cant get pope goes weasel).
Time is crucial in this game and proper use of DC gives you minutes.
1) A surv is unhooked, then he agressivly runs to unhook teammate and simply jumps in to a locker. (most killers do not tunnel , so checkmate).
2) A surv is unhooked, then he runs to repair a critical gen that at 90% of progress if you come closer he simply jumps in to a locker You have a choice between wating about 20-50 seconds or losing a gen. Even if there was no locker and you put him in to a dying state he can simply crawl away.
3) A surv is unhooked, then he start repairing a nearest gen without trying to hide/leave a place he was hooked . 80 sec takes repairing of one gen, DS has duaration of 60 sec. Most likely there are 2 survs on the gen.
4) A surv is unhooked, he gets heal, he starts playing agressive and risky , he baits you, bodyblock you, he helps his teammates in recovery from dying state etc, you hit him once and he goes in to a locker or he lures you away in to an empty corner. You cant pick him up and you wasted time chasing him.
I'm actually rank 1. I just played against someone in the forums who can confirm so I totally understand how the game works.
- If that's how your games go and you're taking 3 minutes to chase someone, I got some bad news for you. You might want to worry about your own lack of skill instead of worry about mine.
- The problem is that people think ALL survivors play like that, and they don't. Yall create scenarios of the most try hard thing you've seen and pretend all survivors play that way. They don't.
- Even when they do and they make a play like that, someone is going on a hook. I know how to spread out pressure and make sure I'm not recycling the same 2 people on and off hook.
- I'm just going to go back to point one and say learn how to end chases quicker. Then everything else you mentioned becomes irrelevant because the survivors won't be on the last 2 gens when you've only hooked one or two people

All the time. If I struggle on first hook, i just let go. Unless there's a face camping Bubba. there's no reason for 3 people to not make an attempt to save

Survivors don't always DC because of the killer being toxic. Sometimes really crappy hits that connect when they shouldn't will make me want to rage quit. Sometimes I have a team full of idiots and I'm going to get 4k points anyway which makes me want to quit.
I typically don't unless I've had a long string of bad games, but I get close sometimes

Iron Will is pretty amazing although I just rather run a perk to heal myself and not be injured at all but I'd choose that over DS.
And I forgot Spine Chill which is very useful against stealth killers

While yes are right
but why run sabbo if it get you injured or down
bt can be waited out sometimes
Kindred is meaningless is swf its fair for solo
Well make it is ok
For the people hurts you and ends your chase faster
Innerstrength is fine
why run lithe if you could run deadhard or sprint burst sometimes you cant make it to a window or pallet
Ds gives you 180s of basically invincibility and extends a chase of a minimal of 20s with nothing at all giveing all surivor to do gens
You sabo when it's safe to do so and again, it gives you pretty good hook knowledge around the whole map.
I agree Kindred is pointless in a SWF which is why I only mentioned it in terms of solo Q. A perk should be strong on it's own, not because you're on a team and Kindred is strong on it's own.
For the People definitely has a huge down side, I'll give you that. It's a perk you should only run if you're good at looping. But my point was it prevents or at least discourages tunneling and it's instant. You combine it with Inner Strength and you have yourself a pocket heal for when the broken status timer is over.
I prefer Lithe over both Dead Hard and Sprint Burst as far as exhaustion perks are concerned, but all of them are probably better than DS.
DS is only for 60 seconds because it can only be used once a match, not after every hook. Also after the 3rd hook, you'd be dead anyway XD

If they have 4 minutes of invicibility you are tunneling and campiing HARD
THIS, Also I'm tired of people claiming DS is invincibility, clearly not understanding what the word means. Invincibility would be if you went to swing at the survivor and the entity formed a shield around them to prevent them from taking damage.
-
@Blueberry said:
I'm copy pasting this from another thread as it's similar to your topic and I'm tired of having to respond to these same things over and over.
The post is in regards to all the second chance perks but this includes DS for your purposes as well.
Whether they actually activate or not regardless, they are still the strongest perks in the game. This is because they force the killer to play in a way that loses him the game against good survivors. It's a lose/lose scenario.
You play the way that doesn't activate any of them, essentially making you play 1 hooking each survivor one at a time taking turns which is simply non viable entirely against good survivors.
OR
You eat the DS, the Unbreakable, the BT etc and lose because you wasted time in a chase that gained you nothing while the other survivors are pumping out gens.
Against good survivors you have to do some variation of either tunneling, soft camping, or slugging if you want to win and aren't on one of the top tier killers, that's just facts. Of which all the second chance perks force the killer to do none.
On top of...he has to play around the possibility you are running all these perks...even if you aren't running them. So just the fact of these perks simply existing is giving the survivors tons of value whether they actually have them for not.
If the killer played completely "fair", none of these perks activated and the survivor team still lost, they were bad or just played terribly that game.
Anyone who doesn't think DS is in the top 5 survivors perks doesn't play both sides at rank 1 with a decent amount of hours. It is by far one of the best perks in the game and that's agreed upon by almost all the high rank community that actually plays both sides. Almost none of those perks you mentioned are even remotely as good, with BT only coming close behind DS.
And I should just copy and paste my response to the other guy because I'm tired of this same argument to. No, the killer is not FORCED to respect any perk. I play killer and have played killer in red ranks all the way up to rank 1. I don't have to tunnel to win. Getting a 3k isn't even hard against the majority of teams. Killers who can't disperse pressure and bounce back and forth between survivors just aren't that good, bottom line.
I play primarily Huntress, Myers, Wraith and Doctor and do fine with all of them. This idea that you HAVE to play a certain way because DS and Unbreakable exist is ridiculous and simply untrue. If it were true and I had to, I would never have reached rank 1. It's a choice, not a requirement to play around DS and Unbreakable
-

against good teams your gonna get survivor that stick near you with ds active so that you can either waste time chasing them or slug them just for no one to pick them up and they use unbreakable if you ignore them you throw the game as they sit on a gen right infront of you and your forced to leave either way your forced to waste time in chase that wont benefit you or throw the game.
against good teams you cant get 12 hook games unless your spirit or nurse
Idk people keep running with that argument that you have to feed into what the survivor is planning. If a survivor is following me and I know they were just unhooked, I still go after my target and hook them first. Then I give the other survivor my attention and I'll either eat their DS so that it's gone, or I'll slug them and go after person C or D and make them waste their unbreakable.
I absolutely love when survivors who are injured stick close to me. I hope that's not your definition of a good team because I consistently get 3ks and 4ks against people like that.
And before you asked, yes I've played in red ranks before and have reached rank 1.
-
I'll give you a paraphrased version of what everyone is going to come in here and say.
"Blah blah strategy, blah blah blah "only way to win", blah blah gen rush. Git gud"
I promise you that will be every single one of their comments in some form or another XD
-
@Kumnut768 said:
ds unbreakable when run by all players gives 4 minutes of invincibilty scattered throughout the team which is enought time to do every gen on the map, how do you not see that this is a huge problem?
I hook survivor A. I go look for someone else. I find survivor B, chase them and hook them. When I leave survivor B, I may find survivor A again or I can go after survivors C and D.
I repeat this cycle until the match ends.
-
Oh sorry, I forgot to address DS + Unbreakable
Sure these two perks have great synergy, but only against people who intend to tunnel and/or slug.
When I play killer, I don't so these 2 perks hardly ever get used with a few exceptions of matches where I was trying to complete a challenge and didn't want the last person to get hatch.
If you go after the other 3 people in the match, they don't get to use either perk and that's 2 slots wasted.

You can get unhooked twice before dieing, applieing 60 seconds twice.
Unless you eat the ds, or proxycamp, its 120 seconds.
