  • This one looks great! I would love to see the other screenshot with the changes though, I think it would be neat. You should get someone to go in a kyf with you so you can re-enact it properly. On the Dwight one, I meant to make the camera be looking down on Dwight. In that old one the camera was in the ground looking up at Dwight, and made it just a little unsettling to look at imo.
This one looks great though, I love it!

  • @Jack11803 aaay I just looked it up and no wonder you said blue suits me... blue is the color associated with calm(technically soothing).

  • @Jack11803 said:
It must of been from manipulating people’s minds with color text...am I right?

    ROYAL BLUE IS COOLER

  • @Brady hm. I guess I must have looked at it wrong. DAMNED SHADOWS!!! In all seriousness though, I never stated that hatchets can hit survivors that were not in the way. I was just thinking that she actually did walk back into it, sorry. I absolutely do agree that all hitbox problems with her should be fixed.

  • Also, I think that this should not include interrupts.

  • Notice how in the first screenshot she is behind the huge rock. In the second she is in front of it. This proves that she had to have moved to the right, into the hatchet, then simply messed up and when moving back to the left, overcorrected causing herself to run into the rock, into the Killer.
The actual problem with Huntress is when the hatchets clearly go right through survivors, but they just don't care. Another huge problem is that the hatchets automatically go way below where you throw them, forcing you to look nearly straight up if you want to throw it over an obstacle like a box in a loop. Also, if you throw a hatchet at the survivor while vaulting certain windows, the hatchet automatically aims itself towards the bottom of the windowsill, regardless of where you aimed it.

  • No Problem mah man

  • Great idea. I think the camera should be pointed up a bit more though, and having the DbD logo on Dwight's just is just a little unsettling. Maybe right below the slogan?
EDIT: Also, using a darkest moonlight would be great for this.

  • Wake up is already very powerful.
It guarantees that you can open the door before the Killer completes his route, which is very strong because it steals an entire hook from the Killer once the gates are open. It is already strong enough to counter the new hatch mechanic for the same reason.

  • @Runiver nice. And I assume it is also mandatory to trap areas I expect them to run after being chased away from a gen or hook, right?

  • I took a long, healthy 2 month break a while ago, and I absolutely, positively enjoyed it. I played some of my old childhood favorite games, and just some games that I have had in my library for years and only have 5 hours in.
But do you know what I loved even more? Coming back to Dead by Daylight after that incredibly long break. The best part about it was, that it as a planned break. I didn't just say to myself angrily after a day full of bad matches that I was quitting, but came back after a while, I simply realized that the game was in a content drought with absolutely 0 balance patches planned until the 2 year anniversary, so I just decided to wait it out in other games until a week before the PTB, so I could farm up the 1mil bp for the new Killer. It brought me much more joy than all the times I have thought I would quit the game for good just to come back to it the next day, like some druggie trying to cold turkey.
Personally though, I think that you should just play some other game in your library for a few days, then come back soon because the anniversary is sometime this month(rumors say it is exactly 1 week from today). Then if you are not thoroughly impressed in the shop enough to keep farming irridescent shards until the next chapter, then feel free to just take a break and play other games until whenever you feel like you are ready to come back.
The biggest piece of advice I can give you, however, is this - When you come back, make sure you are in a really good mood. You are literally relying on luck in this game's current state that you don't get a 4 man SWF team that destroys your 2 month old, already poor muscle memory on Huntress(that is how I came back, but the next match I was just fine and it was absolute fun).

  • @Brady In terms of survivors, most people agree the following are meta in no particular order -
    1. Self Care
    2. Decisive Strike
    3. Dead Hard
    4. Sprint Burst
These next perks may be considered the most meta, or most useless depending on who/what group you ask -
    5. We'll Make It
    6. Iron Will
    7. Lithe
    8. Vigil
    9. Urban Evasion
    10. Wake Up!(I ######### HATE THIS PERK)
    11. Quick and Quiet
    12. Borrowed Time
    13. Unbreakable
Again, those last 9 perks are controversial as to wether they are meta or not. I personally do not think Vigil is meta as do not run into it nearly as much as I do Wake Up!, but for other Killers it is the other way around. Basically it just has to do with personal experience/luck.
If you want a much more accurate representation of what is and isn't meta, just look at everyone's perks at the end of the match for the next whole lot of matches and see which ones repeat multiple times. Metas also change a little bit as you go through the ranks, but basically you just see only the top 4 and some other perk at rank 1, and all the other perks can be seen at the lower ranks more often.

  • @Brady Dead Hard is very meta btw

  • Infinite loops are quite less dramatic than when the first launched, when Killers had I think twice slower vaulting speed than they did now, and the Entity did not block out windows.
With that being said, however, I do definitely agree that there are some maps where long loops can spawn. They are slightly rare as they rely on the exact right window openings to spawn, but are very overpowered at rank 1 vs survivors who know how to abuse those variations.
Basically, any loop area with 1 window cannot be considered infinite, as the Entity will block that one window. However, that 1 window can still prove very frustrating, and requires the absolute best mind games in this game to catch the survivor at without just waiting for the Entity to do it for you.
The problem gets even worse when you get into what I call the "monuments" of the map - pretty self explanatory. The monument for Red Forest is the large house, the monument for Coal Tower is the "Coal Tower," basically the large building with stairs going up to the generator; you get the point. In those areas it is troublesome because multiple windows can spawn, or in the case of maps like Coal Tower or Groaning Storehouse, the building is simply so large with the addition of a pallet directly in the way that the Killer is forced to take the long way around twice.
In these monument area, if a survivor has Vigil and any exhaustion perk, including even balanced landing, then they can most definitely turn the monuments into infinites. I have had it happen to me before way too many times. This does become harder with Sprint Burst as you exhaustion perk because it takes more planning and understanding the mechanics of exhaustion to time it right so you don't use your perk as you vault, but it certainly is still possible.
Obviously, the smarter of you fellow Killers and the dumber of you survivors will be saying "just go around and make them run into you." This is absolutely possible - at rank 10 and lower. Even rank 10 is a stretch. At the higher ranks(5 to 1), the survivors are simply so used to this being used that they expect it, and they expect fake outs, and they expect walking backwards to hide the red stain and basically all the simple and even most advanced mindgames.
Now, reading this(and even for me typing this) it is very easy to just think up some complex, in depth multi stage mind game where you absolutely ######### amaze them at what you can pull off. But the fact is, that when we Killers are in the heat of the moment, it is incredibly more difficult to think of this stuff. I think it is just a combination of a bunch of things that causes this - Being first person so our mind is absolutely focused on just calling this survivor in front of us as many profanities as think of for abusing these mechanics, the fact that in the heat of the moment we cannot focus all our attention on just a mind game or else we will lose track of even the most basic movements, us having loud blaring chase music in our ears, and a whole lot of other tiny factors that add up fast. But regardless of what causes it, the point still stands - it is simply way harder to think of a complex mindgame we can pull off to catch this survivor in the heat of the moment rather than focusing every fiber of our being on that one task.

    tl;dr
Infinites certainly have a possibility to exist at the "monuments" of most maps in this game, and at rank 1 it is simply very hard to think of a good mingame to catch the survivor. Although we can think of a great mind game right now when we can focus everything we have just on a mindgame, it is way harder to think of that while being in a match and chasing that survivor.

  • One thing I'll say that my mouse is so ######### that even at maximum DPI(how sensitive the mouse is) and maximum camera sensitivity, hitting 360's is very hard. Every time I think about trying to hit 360'ers with a controller I cringe.

  • @Dragonredking said:
Because those perk literaly make teams win in tournaments

Borrowed Time? I fully understand Unbreakable winning games in tournaments, but unless the survivors are using an exploit at the unhook I don't see Borrowed Time doing much as long as you have a smart Killer.
In advance in case you don't know, there is currently an exploit I just found out about(I am in PTB, don't know about main) where if one survivor crouches near the unhooker, it will not let you grab them off of the interaction, and your hit will be delayed to the end of the animation. This lets the unhooker still get the normal speed boost after getting hit, and walk away scott free.

  • I like it. Only things I would change -
    No downside to Surveillance
Tinkerer is actually going to be completely reworked, I would imagine sometime this year
The aura reveal for Calm Spirit would be trash still imo. I would think slowing the Killer by a low amount would be ok, because of how many times you are 99% wiggle bar but get hooked.
I love that idea for Self Care, I never thought of it.
Prove Thyself rework sounds like you just made a new perk. I would change it to be like leader, just the other way around.

  • @Jack11803 Which color should I use daddy?
Edit: sorry for everyone who reads that. I just made my eyes hurt like hell by glancing at the contrast in those colors side by side.

  • Well, if you just kept the post short and simple I could agree entirely with you - Borrowed Time is a great spot right now, and although Unbreakable is actually quite overpowered to bring a full SWF team back from being brutally killed and deserving to die, it is very rare that any Killers at any rank leaves someone on the ground for over 30 seconds, unless you are Hillbilly and playing smart.
However, at the end of the post you say "Maybe the Monkey Slugger/Camper Killer just need to Stop Slug and Camp Problem Solved Both perks has barely any Use."
Sure, not slugging and camping does counter BT and Unbreakable. BUT, you are literally just repeating what the whole point of your originally short post was, but instead doing it in a way to purposefully make fun of Killers. I also assume that in your head, you think that slugging and camping is abuse and an unfair way to play. I assume that purely based on the tone of the quote. Basically, i am informing you that you can have your own thoughts, and at times share them, but this is definitely the WRONG way to share them. You should edit your post to be more respectful. I will in turn edit out this portion of my comment as it will be confusing to future readers.

  • Usuallly I would immediately call someone an idiot for suggesting a nerf to already weak Killer perks, but both of these perks are already rare because of how bad they are(except vigil + sprint burst) that I say fine.
EDIT: actually, after reading the whole post, I still agree that the Vigil buff for MYC you suggested is fine and all but I just MUST clear something up - you claim that MYC has no counterplay. Yes, it does actually. The counter play is playing the game normally. The reason MYC is so rare and bad at rank 1 is the fact that survivors don't hide at that rank. They know how broken loops are, so they just loop. And a half decent survivor can loop for well over a minute at rank 1 without being hit. In my eyes, a Killer being able to get a hit off of an experienced looper like that so fast deserves an insta down regardless! That is my unpopular opinion though. The popular rank 1 opinion, however, is that Make Your Choice DOES have massive counterplay by just looping.

  • Not sure if I should use this
    or this

  • @Jack11803 Not sure if you knew this, but I see you are making many test comments and posting them. It is possible to preview your comment/post before actually posting it, so you can test different stuff without having to comment fully. The button is to the left of Save Draft, which is to the left of Post Comment.
For example, I used Preview to make sure this font color works without having to make a seprate test post.
Edit: damn I just chose a random one for demonstration purposes, but I love it! DAA520 for the WIN!

  • Edited it and fixed it.
Edit: Also, how do you remember your font color lol? Just good memory? I have to remember 1e90ff >_<

  • I think I may have finally found the ugliest best color!
Edit: Fixed the strike. Also only thing wrong with this color is that it is hard to see the strike.

  • What is the format to strike stuff out?

  • cool I didn't know you could just say name of color
Edit: WHY YOU NO WORK I SAY "BLUE"
Edit 2: got it to work had to zoom in a lot, but EEEEW blue is ugly and cannot be read!
Edit 3: Ok Royal Blue is readable but holy ######### it is ugly. I will just stick to normal grey text from now on....

  • I CAN'T READ THE CHART NUMBERS THEY ARE TOO SMALL SO HERE IS A RANDOM NUMBER DID IT WORK?
EDIT: COOL I GOT A WEIRD GRAY
EDIT 2: OH WAIT THIS IS THE NORMAL COLOR IT DIDN'T WORK

  • Someone on the forums here recently said something along the lines of "If you let the survivors power the exit gates then it's your fault, you lost because you are just bad."

I can’t edit on this device fully. And besides, editing is to change what you said, not continue talking.

@Jack11803 I believe part of what SaltyKiller said also means there was no reason for the past 4 or so posts you made on here. Those posts were literally just made to either inflate your ego, farm posts for your account, or maybe even both.
Also, I kind of am adding to it with this post, but this conversation has strayed FAR off of the OP, and I would bet that this guy is very tired of his phone pinging him for all the notifications on this post not even related to Hex: Ruin on Doctor?
We should just stop commenting here, and if you two want to keep duking it out then fine, but make your own thread in off topic to do this or find a way to pm eachother.

  • @theagitatedapricot the annoying thing with quotes is that on here they are more wonky to mess with than on Steam. For example, it would be difficult for me to press the quote button on a long post/comment and then just delete the portions I don't care about. I would have to do the whole thing manually by @'ing them, and manually putting in "[copy and paste what I want to quote specifically]"

  • @Jack11803 WHITE LIKE DWIGHT

    OUR WHITE DWIGHT

  • @Jack11803
Clearly, neither of us agree with anything the other says. I think we need to do one of 2 things
    1. Come to a compromise
    2. If that doesn't work, agree to disagree
This discussion keeps making my damned phone ping, so I would just love to make it end because I cannot unfollow my own post.

  • The guy who's name was "Doc{some russian symbols]? Yeah he is here he is actually very active, usename "DocOctober" now. If you are talking about "The Doctor" twitch streamer(his name is something like that, I don't watch him) then I don't know. Those are the only 2 Docs i know about.

  • Wait why does it not show that you have a power? WHAT KILLER ARE YOU DAMNIT I WANNA KNOOOOOOOW

  • @Undying_Zombie that is me every time a survivor calls me trash after four killing them.

  • @Runiver said:
The killer's bloodpoints is usually higher than survivors.
When I play survivor, I already feel like I don't get good bp compared to killers tbh.

I'd prefer to simply have a way to eventually trade add-ons for the ones I like best.
Like 3 common > 1 uncommon of your choice
3 uncommon > 1 rare of your choice
    etc.

Or maybe just a rework of a lot of rather useless add-ons.

It is true that per match survivors get considerably less blood points than Killer. The catch is that survivors can leave the match before the Killer. Trying to figure out the best side to play for bp is really just simple middle school math(linear equations, estimate the point of intersect).

  • Generators seem to be the problem, I know, but they are actually fine. The problem is that chases take way too long. The devs need to balance out chases, and that will in turn make gen rushing a bad tactic because if you are having a lengthy intercourse with the generator, then next thing you know all 3 survivors are hooked before you could finish 2 of them.
EDIT - This may call for a nerf to gen regression speed though.

  • Either you are unlucky or i am lucky, because I wish I could always be on the PTB. On main I get toxic SWF groups that I swear use a speed hack or lag switch at least once in the match every 5 games at LEAST. But in the PTB however, I only find these kinds of lobbies every 15 games or so. Much better for me.

  • She has a very rare add-on called Plaid Flannel that does just this. I think the add-on should be common though, because the whole purpose of it is to give new nurse players a feel for how she blinks. It makes no sense making it something you cannot get until level 30 or so because of how rarities work and how many very rares she has.
Also the idea for letting survivors see where the Nurse is blinking would only effect low ranks. High rank survivors already know these things just because of the amount of hours they have in the game, and the fact that apparently every other rank 1 survivor match is vs the Nurse.

  • @Kiores
"and if they save it until gates are powered and then gets away, you lost because you let them power the gate, hence it's a rightful use of the perk"
"you lost because you let them power the gate"
"you let them power the gate"
Excuse me? I thought that you were a Killer main from other posts I have seen you in. A ######### HAG MAIN, at that. Surely you of all people should understand that "you lost because you let them power the gate" is the absolute rudest thing you could say to a rank 1 Killer, right? Or are you just a lower ranked Killer? If you are, then fine, I am sorry that I jumped to conclusions about you being stupid, but if you are rank 1 Killer then you absolutely must be making a poor joke here, or just have INSANE luck at rank 1.
Even games without any Decisive Strike can prove immensely difficult to kill everyone before the exit gates are powered. Just imagine 1 guy at the beginning of the match being a great looper, and running you around for 2 generators or more. He uses Decisive immediately, so yeah he is injured forever, but have you thought about him just hiding and not being found afterwards? Then the other 3 on his SWF use their Decisive at the end, and you cannot juggle them because they can use the perk the instant they are picked up.
This is an absolutely wild statement to make, saying that a Killer, rank 1 especially, deserves to derank because he could not four kill before the gates are open!
You also claim in your comment that juggling is a "problem" with DS. Actually it is quite the opposite. Currently, there is 0 counter play to Decisive Strike that works consistently. Juggling is the closest thing we Killers have to it, but the reason it is not true counter is because there is always the chance that the skillcheck comes early. That is the reason why the main premise of my balance fix for DS would work(even if the exact idea is not used, then the premise of juggling be a true counter should stay) and the reason why having a button press to instantly activate the perk upon immediate pickup is ludicrous!

  • @Sooted Keep in mind, however, that to get us used to the new farming of shards the shrine of secrets will be closed for 2 weeks or so as soon as the PTB goes to main. This will actually be ok though, because we will have cosmetics to farm! And after 2 weeks of grinding I bet we will be getting at least 300 shards per level.

  • @Sooted Yes, from my calculations it will start out at about the same speed, but once you get past level 15(only about 10 hours of playtime, so nothing especially since it is Summer) you should be able to get those shrine bloodpoints about twice as fast.

  • @Sooted said:
can i still trade shards for 200k bloodpoints?

    yes

  • Nothing happens for your EW, but it is still useful to stalk in tier 3 at times because the survivors' auras will still be shown in bright color when you are looking at them. Several Myers players use this to find people, because the range on stalk is quite far and can see people that the naked eye cannot.

  • I can prove to you that Killer "aim assist" hurts them by auto aiming onto walls in under a minute in kyf.
You would still say it is bull ######### though, so it is not even worth following this discussion to read your response to this -_-

  • On every Killer I use kind of a gimmick build. It is just for bloodpoints. BBQ, Distressing, ToTH, and Ruin so I have an actual chance of pipping.
If you are a good enough Killer this build can work with Freddy. Ruin is the only thing that holds it together, though.
For a more casual player, though, I would suggest using Distressing, Brutal Strength, Make Your Choice, and Ruin. Just make sure that you use the add-on for doctor illusions at madness II.
On Pig however, her add-ons change her playstyle so much that I could not list every single perk+addon build I have found for her. Luckily, most of them explain themselves. There are 2 that I should give you tips on because they took me a while to figure out, though.
    1. Don't try skillcheck builds for the boxes at high ranks. Rank 1's never miss.

    2. Amanda's Secret + Rusty Attachments & Ruin, Distressing, Make Your Choice, Coulrophobia(Clown's new perk that slows healing in your terror radius). This build plays a large mind game on the survivors. When unhooking a trapped victim, the trapped survivor must decide if they want to waste a lot of time on their timer to get healed, or run straight to a Jigsaw box. If they choose to run, then they will be running around the map injured and once they get the trap off you will see their aura for 6 seconds and be able to go to them(preferably, crouch once within about 40 meters of them). This does take a large skill level to know where they will be running to, but you will get the hang of it. It they choose to be healed, then not only will their timer be ticking down for chance of a head pop, but the exposed rescuer from Make Your Choice is also just sitting there healing the trapped victim. Both can be 1 shot!

This hopefully shows you something - The Pig actually has a much higher skill cap than you would think she does. I even surprised myself with how good I got with her.

  • Hag is in desperate need of normal killer movement speed

  • @NeoGriim another neat thing about Pig is that her terror radius is only 28 meters, not the standard 32 like most other Killers. I think Hag's terror radius is 24, but she is very slow and therefore fails at chases. She relies on pure luck that the survivors will run into your traps, or not find flash lights in a chest.
