I know that this discuss is tending towards CoH right now, but I would like to add my small little piece: This may turn out to be something I stop doing eventually, but for now I enjoy using Bloodhound if I see a Mikaela join the lobby. They don't always run Shadow Step or even a Boon at all, but it is nice to not have to focus so hard on blood and the survivors' movements if there is a Shadow Step in play.

Just for reference a typical map is about 100x100 meters, or 10,000 m². A 24 radius circle is 1809 m². So at most a Boon covers 18% or just under 1/5 of the map. (I say "at most" because if the boon is within 24m of the edge of the map it covers less actual area.)
That is . . . way more coverage than I thought. The potential to cover almost one fifth of the map. Wow. Just, wow.
Now, obviously what I'm about to say probably can never happen, but what if the Survivors got a really small map with the perfectly placed totem spawns such that they can cover almost the entire map at once? That would be so cursed. Again, I know that the criteria for that to happen are very niche, but I don't think that it is healthy for that to even be a near possibility.
-
Man I notice this too. The only Killer I realize that I always max out deviousness bp on is Wraith. Obviously there are other Killers that earn lots of deviousness, but I don't pay much attention. I'm gonna start paying more attention now. But for what it's worth, the genuined trend is that newer killers usually suck for bp. With Pinhead being an exception, of course.
It may even be a bit more nuanced than that even. Maybe the "middle" Killers earn the least amount? It would make sense as a trend to me - when the game came out, the devs were very generous with Deviousness bp. Then as it went on, they started giving out less for Killers. Then eventually they gave in and let the newer Killers (maybe in the past year or so) start earning a healthy amount of Deviousness again.

I'm sorry but you are just wrong. Regardless of where the handle is, it blocked the doorway. I could not walk through that door at all.

But what side did it open from? Doesn't look like it will when opened.
I don't remember specifically, but based off of the picture, I am 90% sure it would have opened from closest to where I was standing in the screenshot. As in, that is where the "hinges" would be.
But does that even matter? I think that the hatch has collision/elevation no matter if it is opened or closed, and as far as I know, whatever side it opens from doesn't mean anything at all. I could be wrong though, I haven't extensively tested it. Either way though, it's still an issue when it's closed, especially because the hatch still exists and has collision before it is even visible. It spawns on the map at the start of the trial and is invisible, but still has collision. There are youtube videos showcasing this where people find the hatch before the gens are done by noticing that they "levitate" a bit on a certain area, and that is where the hatch is.

it didnt get nerfed because it was overused.
it got nerfed because "Killers got carried" by ruin and baby survivors couldnt finish gens.
Yes. That is true.
Additionally, survivors are carried by DS, Dead Hard, etc. Honestly imo if I could choose just one perk to remove or butcher, I would choose DH and leave the rest alone.
BTW, I'm not insulting you, I'm pointing out that the developers ignore the fact that survivors are carried by perks just like how killers used to be carried by Ruin.

ALIEN PLEASE

I really hope this whole thread is a bait.

This ^ I hope devs see this

Dead Hard should be deleted
-
The devs need to dedicate the game to being either casual or competitive. This means either making the ranking+emblem system fair for both sides and indiciative of skill(not perks or killers used), or they should delete it altogether. The devs talk how the game is meant to be casual and some players say that too. However, the simple existence of a ranking system clearly speaks otherwise. It is simply not possible to have a fun, casual match and be fine with losing(camped first hook or all 4 survivors escape) if the game taunts you afterwards.

I think it's a neat idea. Despite how Nos37 worded it, A Nurse's Calling might indeed make for a better tracking perk. Though honestly when I saw you using BBQ I just assumed it was for points like I use it.
I do just use BBQ for the points. I don't see the aura tracking as worthy of a slot on it's own. I was just mentioning that the aura tracking was a nice bonus on top of the JUICY JUICY POINTS

Fellow Demo main here, and oh boy he is good. First hoop you need to get through is realizing that Shred is just a tacky gimmick, his portals are what makes him great - I do mean really great, btw.
Summary - Portals are amazing, experiment more with those. Use addons that effect portals, mainly recharge rate, undetectable, and thorny vines. Shred is a niche bonus compared to portals, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Don't worry about losing the first generator to set up a portal network, and place one portal for every portal destroyed.
For the first gen - it doesn't matter if you lose it - put portals in smart places. It's important to note that if a survivor is within 8 meters (a bit more than lunge range) of a portal, they will hear and see you coming out of it. 8 meters away, however, they have no clue. it just so happens that you can walk about 5 meters without any addons before Undetectable wears off.
so what the hell does that mean? It means, if you put your portal barely 8 meters from a gen or a hook, and out of LOS, then THAT is how you get your free first hits. If you have portals to spare, I like to double up on gens - as in, have a fake out portal right next to the generator, so you can use of the abyss to see Killer Instinct. But ALSO have your 8 meter portal to get sneaky grabs.
Demo's best addon class is the one that decreases portal teleport cooldown, followed by increasing undetectable. Demo is great because of his map presence. Another great addon is thorny vines, the one that increases Killer Instinct range. Below I will list several ways to use portals.
- Activate a portal right next to a gen, hook, gate, etc. to be able to check if a survivor is next to that thing.
- Put portals in random places to just randomly find survivors out in the open sealing them.
- If you know a survivor is near and don't want to look, put a portal down and activated it. Use of the abyss to see where(only works with thorny vines addon).
- If you know a survivor is near and want to get a free hit, put down two portals really close, and travel from one to the other. The survivor will think you left, and run out of hiding.
- Portals allow you to traverse the map quickly, which gives general map pressure and awareness(this is the "no duh" point).
- This one is rare, but works like a charm - in the middle of a chase, if a survivor is gaining distance and running towards a portal, teleport to that portal to cut them off.
- Going off of number 5, randomly teleporting around can let you find survivors out in the open because you have undetectable for a short period.
That's already 7 different ways to use your portals, and there are more niche ones I didn't mention because they are pretty similar to the others. Meanwhile, all you can do with Shred is miss. Nah but really, Shred has it's moments. Mainly in long corridors, or to scare survivors away from a pallet/window.
Summary - Portals are amazing, experiment more with those. Use addons that effect portals, mainly recharge rate, undetectable, and thorny vines. Shred is a niche bonus compared to portals, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Don't worry about losing the first generator to set up a portal network, and place one portal for every one destroyed.

Anyone except for Wraith. Not because he's a horrible person, but because he is MINE and I must be able to still play him(He's my main). Sorry Filip, but I've gotta have my fun. Even if that means you have to suffer
-
Great thoughts, and also will give the devs more oppurtunities for perks.
A potential worry for me is that with such slow gate opening times, Killers may be able to patrol the gates PLUS two fuse boxes close to the gates - thus rendering escape nigh impossible. It would take too long to fix the fuse boxes or to open the gate unless it is a Huntress on Lery's or The Game.

Nothing has changed yet. There hasn't even been an update since the Demogorgon hit the PTB.
I was going crazy then. I think I was using the 'increase of the abyss activation charge speed' addons too much. Yhanks for correcting
-
2 things
1 - Already nerfed the lunge. It takes longer to charge now(I may be going crazy though, please correct me if so)
2 - Usually they release Killers weak/subpar on PTB, then nerf on chapter release, then buff to midtier with midchapter update.
-
I agree with all these.
-
Were the ranking changes mean to be so dramatic? I think I agree that ranking up needed to be harder, but the amount that they were changed is just appalling. It also makes no sense to specifically make Killer Emblems harder, too.
-
The title actually made me think of something else with this perk.
This perk is horrible to put on if you are cocky and at high ranks. This is because since you have the perk, your cockiness will make you gravitate towards hiding in lockers when the Killer is near. If the Killer is smart, then their new meta(every game, every time) will be when they are looking for a survivor, to purposefully walk very close to every locker. Not search it(that wastes time), but walk close enough so a survivor in their will jump out. Now they just found you within 10 seconds, and can start chase. They don't care about that stun for the most part.
This isn't really a tl;dr, but to put it more simply:
Since you really want to get the stun, you will almost always hide in a locker when the killer is coming. The new meta will be for killers to walk near lockers, because if you are in it, then they don't have to look for you. If you aren't in it, they wasted absolutely no time.
One thing that may work with this is hiding in lockers being more of a mindgame now. Killers will only expect you to be in it if you have Head On, therefore will actually search lockers even less than before.
This amount of complexity kind of perfectly sums up what rank 1 mindgames are like.
-
This may seem to you like a bs reply, but honestly - play killer. A lot. (try to)Get to rank 10 killer. You'll see why the devs are favoring killer recently.
I'm a killer main, and started about when the game launched. For a while, I was like you but I hated survivors. I still believe that survivors are stronger than they should be, but the game is finally becoming better. Anyways, when I started playing survivor, I realized that survivor is kind of hard too. Again, I still believe it's not as hard as you think it is, but before I started playing survivor some, I thought that survivor was "Move your mouse in a circle, hold m1, press space some, and BOOM 2 pip" - I once said something along those lines.
-
Wow, both of your posts were great! I've honestly seen so many Hag guides that they get old but Ash, your guide was very fresh mainly because you explained why to put a trap 8 meters away from that window, not just told us to do it. I also realized reading it that Hag and Pig have one major required skill in common - predicting survivors' actions from the beginning of the match to the end.
As for BigBrain, I will DEFINITELY be using your PTSD build. Seeing the comments on this post, I did not expect to be surprised by the Pig mains since I know she has some of the most diverse builds, but I did not expect this.
Obviously, after making the OP, I have changed my build(s), main(I don't have one anymore), and other things about how I play. If I remember, then I intend to make another comment detailing something about another Killer(maybe wraith), but I might forget, and it's too late to do that tonight. So tomorrow could one of you shoot me a message on my profile to remind me about this, if I don't do it?
-
My favorite is getting stunned by a pallet. I just can't help but laugh.
-
It sounds like it was too edited. Even then, for her being just a Spirit, I think it makes more sense, is creepier, and sounds better for her not to make sounds, like in the PTB. ESPECIALLY on the mori, it was way better without her going HYAA
-
You have to get perks in order of 1, 2, then 3.
It should be all RNG with spawning, but many other people including myself also do notice that if you have a certain perk that keeps showing up, it will be there nearly forever until you get level 3 of it. The perks are also affected by the rarity just like add-ons. You are more likely to have a level 1 bamboozle spawn in than a level 3 BBQ, because the first one is only uncommon, but the other is very rare. Again, keep in mind that you would have to already have level 2 BBQ to get that.
-
The problem with such a long post is that I don't know if what you are saying is constructive or not, because I just don't feel like it's worth my time reading what looks like one huge block, even you I can see that you at least tried to make it easier to read. You should go back in to edit the post, and put a blank line at every break where a sort of new topic starts. That will make it way easier to read then people will actually read it and give you feedback.
EDIT: After you still didn't make it easier to read I suffered through the poor text formatting, and agree with @yeet that the tl;dr of this is that -
Dantekurok has lots of bad games in a row as survivor(by his own fault, as he does not know how to evade the Killer), and thus want Killer movement speed to be nerfed, a cooldown on hooking survivors, and hillbilly should not have a power.
He also wants to make it impossible for killers to hit or grab survivors who are within a meter of a pallet or window. I have no idea what he means by "high conditions" in the start of the post. Whoever taught him English did a poor job. -
Yes its safe. I did it
-
@Master because you have to repeatedly spend your BP, and can't save it up as much as you would want. Plus, it's more of a QoL change that I feel is missing. You have a good point though.
-
@Peanits

maybe give this to McClean? -
The question is a decent one, but with a sad answer. To elaborate on Peasant's comment, I don't think that the code the game was made off of is very supportive for ranged Killers. Plus, it is a bit more subjective, but if you ask me and probably many others, the 3 ranged killers you pointed out or not as fun as others, just because this game is built around mindgames. That's why playing Nurse and the other CQC Killers are more fun, because with Huntress for example, you just throw a hatchet and hope the hitboxes are generous(doesn't matter how many or few hours you have in CS:GO). But with a Killer like Wraith(or any others), you get to a pallet, and it is an intense chase with lots of mindgames.
Adding onto to the less fun, I imagine tons of survivors would say Clown, Doctor and to a lesser extent Huntress are unfun to play against. Again, just because the way the game was coded, it is horrible at detecting hatchet hits, judging wether a shock was successful, or determining if the survivor in the dead center of the gas cloud should get intoxicated.
-
Not really related to the pose, but you could have said "Close Quarters Combat" instead of assuming everyone on these forums has been in the military before.
-
I don't have any rules because I know I will break them, but usually at rank 1
- I use BBQ, Distressing, ToTH and Ruin as my build for most Killers, unless I actually want to ######### up someone's day. I use this build even on weak Killers like Wraith. The only one safe from it is Freddy, even then I only take off Distressing. BLOOD POOOOOOOOOINTS!!!!!!!!
- I have a ton of spare add-ons and offerings, and tons of perks on all my Killers from my playtime, but I usually just use uncommon to very rare add-ons, and survivor puddings. I would say once every 10 matches I use some ultra rares/mori
- Give the hatch if no DS, exploits etc.
- Will tunnel if you think you are the #########. I need to teach you that you have a lot to learn, besides your very hard skill check for DS
- I hate Dead Hard
- If the match is clean, I will say "gg" then "good luck and have fun" at the end, win or lose. If someone exploited, just the "gg." If there was a hacker, I'll only say "gg" if I kill them. Killing a hacker almost always means they eventually did turn it off to let you kill them. Still reported either way though.
If 1 DC, I play as normal. Survivors still have more than enough tools to escape just missing 1 person. If two or more, I will usually just watch youtube and let them escape. I used to farm but that is boring.
EDIT: I don't have survivor code. These are more actual rules that I won't break. (Only rank 10, so they may change a little at rank 1)No Mither and no Exhaustion unless I haven't played for a while
- Solo only unless I am very tired of bad teammates
- It's pretty impossible to survivor without looping, but I don't do it mindlessly. I never abuse infinites, and am smart with pallets(I remember to have windows).
- I don't like to be that guy that made the Killer's day a living hell by looping him all match. I always try to hide and lose the Killer(even if it means I will easily get found).
- I give the Killer a kill at end of match if they are deserved it. This means they were playing very well, but as a bad Killer like Freddy or Wraith, and got abused by a 3 man SWF or some ######### exploits
- Only safe unhooks
- I change up my perk build all the time, only use BP offerings, and rarely use items
-
The OP"s proposed change would have very nasty unintended side effects. Just make the Carburater Tuning Guide not as strong. It is literally the effects of over 3 add-ons in one, and only green rarity
-
If I was in your situation I would have done the same thing(meaning I have the same knowledge. Transition into the tip!!!).
When you know a flashlight little dick is near, pretend to pick up by standing on the survivor and looking down, and the flashligher will 90% of the time run into you for free hit. -
Both seem like really great reworks. That's really all I have to say
-
I really like this thing you are doing, I'm surprised that more people aren't into it. You should put this in Balance Feedback, though.
-
I HECKING LOVE IT
-
I didn't even notice breast bouncing until people like OP mentioned it. Even then it is very hard to tell. I think that you just need to stop looking for sex appeal in everything and play the game like everyone else.
-
@florke you will keep your stuff once PTB is over. When PTB's start, they take a save file from about a week or 2 ago and use that instead of the current one(IDK why, maybe for performance and speed of download). it is normal.
For example, I spent 2 days farming for 1 million BP before PTB came out, then when I got on, remembered that it would take an older save file. I had only 100k BP
-
Just wondering, what is your survivor and killer rank? and hours played on both sides. Most people have the same mindset until about 500 hours played total(combined from both sides), then they realize that Killer really do need the recent buffs.
Around rank 10(as Killer) is where you start to see survivors get significantly better. That is because the learning curve for this game is as high as Bill Murray, for killer and survivor, but slightly more for survivor imo. Overall Killer is way harder at rank 1, but getting to rank 10 is harder for survivors(imo, again).
EDIT: I re-read your post and decided to add that a lot of people are also embracing the hide-and-seek playstyle, or have from the start. This is also the way that the devs have always imagined their game, not to be a free-for-all. I really do suggest that you take off all of your exhaustion perks, BT and DS(if you use them) and play with more stealthy perks(if you don't know what for a last perk, use We'll Make It or Empathy).
You are, of course, allowed to have your own opinion, just know that most people that play this game a whole lot will disagree with you.
See you in the Fog. -
After playing some more, hearing some arguments for both sides, and watching streamers, I am really starting to think that she absolutely needs a buff. Seeing the blood as a base power would probably be the best single buff for her. It would make the learning curve less severe without actually increasing her power at skill cap
-
The problem with judging this Killer's power is that she is like the Nurse, in that her skill cap is ridiculously high. In fact, just like the Nurse, they both have an ultra rare that should honestly just be common. The addon for Spirit that makes blood visible in spirit world, and the add on for nurse that shows the blink landing area. They are both meant to(or at least great at) training new players how to use the power, then you replace that addon with a better one.
Once you get really good with Spirit(probably a week's job or more) then you will probably almost always know where to go with phase walk. The best thing we can do is wait a week, then start judging how to nerf or buff her.
-
@Peanits thanks for exact values.
@Bug_Reporter That is very good advice. I was actually thinking about faking phases today(about to try) because as survivor the channel action looks like she is just standing still. When you "fake the phase" do you just stand still or do a partial charge? I think standing still would work, right? -
@Visionmaker oh ok, thank you for the clarity. I will edit my post
-
Sorry for being off topic, but I don't really have a fav build for her - I do worse with Huntress than I do with Wraith
-
G is for Griefing
H is for Huntress
I is for irridescent -
Can we PLEASE get a mod in here to lock the thread?
