Are you aware that the some of the Pig's add-ons(I believe the ones to make searching a JigSaw box take longer) do not work? Are you planning on fixing this?
-
Thanks. Congrats on 2k posts btw. It's nice to have people like you to help out around the forums. makes the community a better place, I think.
-
I heard someone say that in the original lore/story of her, she teleports directly infront of you. Discount Nurse?
-
Basically just gives information to solo players.
You are on a gen, the Killer downs a survivor. You hear no heartbeat currently. The Killer picks them up, then you get a medium heartbeat. Now you know not to get downed on the same side of the map as the basement because the Killer has Agitation. -
$50 to buy warlock wraith, white bride and toxic nurse, plant hag, and madman doctor outfits. (may actually have been $55 or $60, I don't remember)
I earned a shovel and barbed shotgun for Billy, Blue hag outfit(Sonic the HedgeHag), and Comical Ringmaster Suit for Clown.
I will probably be buying the $50 pack every other DLC, since they say they will keep doing themed cosmetics for DLC's. I know it's a terrible financial decision but I don't care, I love this game and trust that the devs are doing good things with my money(the outfits are dope too).

My proposal is to keep or remove the sway effect bonus, but at tier 3 Killers should not see any auras(or almost none). I don't think this perk has caused me to lose a single hook, even with body blocks. I main Killer too, so I would roughly estimate it's success rate is less than 1%.
Edit: specifically, they should not be able to see auras of hooks while carrying the survivor with Boil Over. But perhaps removing all auras as long as the Killer is carrying them is good too.
And just a side thing, the perk should totally be renamed to "Buckaroo" if it keeps the sway effect. -
Based off stuff long time players would know who keep up with forums and YT, it will probably be some sort of Teacher using a ruler(or something similar). And maybe survivors will be getting new item soon? Some sort of caltrop, if they do.
-
@thesuicidefox yes, of course. The best thing to do is to keep starting chases until a pallet is dropped, break it, go back to gens. Do this until most of the pallets there are gone, and then chase. A survivor with only windows will be caught fast if you can pull off even just rank 10 mindgames. This is a great strategy for any Killer except for Nurse, because she is nurse.
-
Doctor isn't irritating, Doctor players are irritating. They play Doctor because he best enables the camping, tunneling and 3-gen strat they rely on. He also gives the most bloodpoints.
When I play Doctor, I play him just like I play all my other Killers. I usually don't camp or tunnel unless the survivor is begging for it via a lap dance(T Bagging). I will admit that I 3-gen strat at times, but only if I have to in order to win. -
@Poweas I use Empathy, Iron Will and No Mither for the same reasons as you. Neat.
I used Technician for a while, but never had anything like that. Approximately how close can they be without hearing you? I may test in a kyf.
I also may start using Calm Spirit when it gets buffed. It would be great if crows actually were a threat to you. You can walk right by them without it and not startle them. -
For a perfect 8k blood points in Sacrifice, you need to hook every survivor 3 times. One for fresh hook, two for struggle hook, 3 for death hook.
You need 12 separate hooks, and technically that bp category is slightly in the hands of the survivor. If they go from 1st hook to struggle, or struggle to death, you lose points.
Pay attention to your point gains when you hook people next game and when they go from fresh to struggle and struggle to death without being unhooked. You will see that there are several different sacrifice category scoring events. That is the reason It is the way it is, and I hope one day the numbers get increased. -
@Jack11803 I kept trying to edit it to get the spoiler to work and I guess if you repeatedly edit your post the bot deletes it or something
-
It lets everyone out of the Realm for the day to celebrate, but it makes sure to tell them "be back before 10!"
-
@Kozy50 Brutal Strength takes around half a second off of breaking a pallet. I could apply the same logic there, but it helps me catch survivors more times than I can count. NOED has only a "pitiful" 4% movement speed buff, but that is so big that usually the movement speed gives away NOED before the killer hits anyone. The point is, small numbers can have big impacts(lets just not talk about Fired Up).
Although looking at it on paper seems like 0.3 extra seconds of speed would be trash, it could make Sprint Burst so much more powerful than it already is.
Besides, Vigil is already fine. The main use of the perk is for Dead Hard or Sprint Burst, and it works very well. Just play high rank Killer if you don't agree. The only Quentin perk that needs reworked/buffed imo is Pharmacy, but then again other people say it is a balanced self care. -
@Jack11803 um... Dwight is missing something...
-
@Techn0 the reason knockout never works(I have not had a single game with knockout where it worked) is because the survivor's scream upon being downed is directional, and scales with distance. This means that survivors can easily still locate fallen comrades, even where they aren't a 4 man SWF.
-
Camping No Mither. I run it as a usual perk, and I honestly don't care if I get tunneled with or without it, or camped when not using it. Killer has to do what Killer has to do. But I just get really upset when the Killer catches me and I have No Mither, and they camp for no big reason. The reason is that I think "just let me go, it's easy enough to catch me again. Just leaved the hook then come back once I get off."
-
@DocOctober just updated it. Fixed all miscommunications and errors on my part, and added interventions for when stuff gets weird.
Also sorry if I came off as rude, now that I looked it over I did make lots of mistakes. Another thing however is that the wording on this stuff is hard to understand, and I don't think it is you, just the lore directors don't do a good job with long writings haha.
Please do continue to make corrections, and if you feel like I am still wrong about anything, then maybe we should just sort it out elsewhere, because I intend for the comment section of this post to be people alerting me to other similarities I overlooked, not just back and forth arguing of wether or not Lisa should be able to survive her flesh being carved off of her body. -
@DocOctober In response to your message, I do realize I made mistakes, hence why one of the final paragraphs is my apologizing for any mistakes, and saying I will clear them up. I also tell that I did that at midnight, so I was very tired. In addition, I only looked through the wiki in the initial development of this post. I do not have the artbook, or anything else. I just looked at all the original characters' bios.
Most of what you point out, however, is slightly wrong/just misunderstood. I read every bio word for word, and then summarized the stuff I felt was important enough to put in. If you would like, I will respond to every point you make, apologizing for things I did get wrong, and clearing up things where you probably just misread the OP. I won't do it right now unless you request it, because I am trying to farm iridescent shards and bloddpoints and correct the mistakes I made at the moment

No hard feelings, but I spent so much time on that and although I know you have good intentions, the comment came off as slightly rude, even with your last paragraph.
-
@weirdkid5 I have the same mentality. Unlike other people, I actually enjoy a thorough challenge in games. It seem some survivors just want the win handed to them on a silver platter, but then they make rage threads because the gold trimmed napkin is missing.
Of course, I do cross the line when that nice challenge turns into being violently raped by NOED, Ruin and TotH on 23957 blink Nurse when I am running No Mither without my exhaustion perks... -
@weirdkid5 the law has about 30 days before it takes effect, though. So having Redshell right now is not against the law, and they are removing it with 2.0.0 to meet that 30 day deadline.
-
@DocOctober well, this is the DbD lore section to be fair. I think it is a meme now that DbD lore is so inconsistent and vague, I think most people here are expecting/wanting a read to counter Stephen King's IT.
-
If I have an oppurtinity to lose the Killer, I always take it. Besides, getting hit only gives you 50% of the evader from that chase. I can tell you the only perk you don't even need is Iron Will, but it's ok to use it. Using other perks makes juking a braindead task(COUCH COUGH DANCE WITH ME COUGH COUGH). It is best to not hide in obvious areas, like behind a tire that is directly between the pallet you left and pallet near you. Those places, the Killer checks 80% of the time. Try and get as much distance as you can. You can do this with or without exhaustion perks. I don't use them. Sometimes I just hide in areas so stupid the Killer doesn't bother to check it because he doesn't think I would be that stupid smart.
It is definitely a high learning curve, LOTS of dying to freddy and wraith because I randomly stopped running to crouch right where he ran past. Doing these random hiding spots also helps to counter all seeing, etc. (btw, those are crap because by the time the killer realizes they should use the add-on, you should have walked away) because you are a bit further from the Killer's path. It also makes Iron Will not needed. I do say Iron Will is needed for people learning how to juke(I still use it, because I am still improving), but I know already of people that can lose the Killer without any stealth perks(Tru3Ta1ent's really old YouTube videos. over 2 years old, back when survivors sound was louder than it is now).
Just a quick tip, once the Killer has realized that they have lost you, you should use the 3rd person camera to your advantage and slowly walk away, crouching behind LoS blockers when they look your direction. This is definitely the hardest part of the juke, is getting away.
For doctor, it is simple really(I do not mean to be rude) - dodge his zaps while in the chase so you don't get tier 3, and then lose him. Even if he has tier 2 illusions, you can at least hide for 10 seconds and bank in your Evader points from the chase + juke.
Freddy's are ######### annoying. That's all. If you just try to juke Freddy's, you have to be REALLY good, because you cannot lose him unless you get a lucky skillycheck after breaking LoS, but make sure you are near the end of terror radius but still in it, and then hide quickly, somehow getting away even though you can't see when he is looking at you. You have to either just loop him for ages, or consistently juke him, until he just gives up and goes for someone else.As for builds, I am consistently pipping with Empathy, We'll Make It, No Mither and Iron Will. I am considering taking off Iron Will, as 50% quieter may be enough if I hide in non-obvious areas. I'm not sure what I would replace it with, but I think it would be an original perk, from the base game. If it was possible to pip with just base game perks 2 years ago, it certainly is easier now that Emblems are so pathetically easy for survivors.
For playstyle with my build, I just kind of act on instinct. Literally. If I feel like looping the Killer will help me pip, I do that. If I think I need to lose him, then I attempt to lose him. When a survivor gets hooked near me, I finish the gen I am on(unless I just started) then unhook. I use Empathy + leftover We'll Make It to hoard extra benevolence from injured survivors that are self caring close to me. I know it is a pretty lame playstyle/explanation, but that is just what I do. I don't enter the match with a certain mindset of what I need/want to do, because I may plan to get every single unhook but then It is a basement leatherface. -
Another thread? I'm getting too tired so sorry but I'll limit it to 3 more lines for you -
Redshell does not, and cannot store personal information. It is used to help DbD's marketing team know the best ways to advertise the game to attract the right players, and let people know this is DbD and not COD 7 or WoW 5. The devs are actually removing it now, meaning you should be happy they care for you that much! -
@DocOctober it is split up in paragraphs, but... unluckily for me all the paragraphs go to the far end of the line making it look like just a block of text. meaning I have to go in and make this even more of a wall, but less of a block by adding in a line space between every single separate topic... I'M TIRED!!!
-
Not one thread .. BUT TWO! TWO OF THEM!?!?!?!?
My god, you guys need to do your research. I won't link it for you this time, I am requesting that you actually look it up yourself. In your searchbar, type something like "Redshell - gamers" or "what is redshell used for."
This program simply gives BHVR feedback on the best ways to advertise DbD, so that people buying the game in the future know what DbD is and do not buy it thinking it is the new COD 7 or World of Warcraft 5. -
As far as I can tell after looking through the wiki and just what I would expect, DC's sadly do not count towards the masks. Just for communication's sake, the "kills" you need for the masks are actually sacrifices, not moris, incase you thought that.
-
It can trigger borrowed time further away than you expect, potentially screwing you over depending on your playstyle(If you go for fresh hooks aka don't tunnel often then you are fine). Sometimes it may confuse them, but it will just give them more time to hide from you most of the time. I still used it a lot though, my build was BBQ&Chili, Distressing, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt and Hex: Ruin on every Killer for at least 2 months and I almost got rank 1 each time. I would have got it if I played more, but I was other games a lot. 50k bp was a bad match for Wraith. 75k was a bad match for doctor. Good matches were around 100k or above regardless of Killer(except for Pig, she gets nearly 0 deviousness). Do note, however, that I often used Bloody Party Streamers or Survivor Puddings.
To sum it up basically, Distressing is ok for bp but slightly hurts you at the high ranks. It is nothing too bad, because coincidentally the 2 worst killers have little change from the perk. Freddy is more affected than wraith, but freddy is trash anyways. All other Killers, it is ok as long as you are pretty decent at finding survivors to make up for the extra time they get to hide from you(besides, who really hides nowadays?) -
Casually strolls in to bump this up so more people can see it
YOU SPELT "BALANCE" AS "BLANCE" IN LINE 7 YOU IMBICAL!!!
Also line 5 does not need that comma. -
@thesuicidefox I do agree, but for different reasons infact. I find as survivor it is now pathetically too easy to pip, even easier than with bp for pips. I run No Mithers, without DS or exhaustion perks, no items, just bp offerings, and even if I die first I can safety pip at least. Safety pips are rare, depips even rarer. I constantly feel that my team and I played like #########, and I still pip with room to spare. I do agree that bad Killers make it harder, but if a Killer is so bad he can't hook anyone for benevolence, you can definitely make up for it in Evader. Estimate 45 seconds or so in a chase, then lose him. Easy peasy, do that twice and you have iridescent.
Playing as Killer has in fact made it harder to pip than before depending on your playstyle. Now, Killers that tunnel, camp, run NOED and are general asshats can now pip with ease. Basement LeatherFace with 2 kills? near a 2 pip. But if you try and play Killer for fun, keeping in mind that the survivors are actual people(survivors should keep this in mind about the Killer, but that is another topic), then pipping is even more difficult. If you go for fresh hooks and struggle hooks, not focusing down the same guy to kill him, then GateKeeper will be harder because 3 on gens is faster than 2 or 1, you will get bronze or nothing in Devout, and Chaser will be a bit harder because instead of focusing down the weakest link for fast chases, you are taking a chance by chasing the person who just unhooked him, who happens to have 3,000 hours of t bagging under his belt. Also with chaser, people who camp a lot get better scores in it because hitting a survivor near a hook counts as a 2 second or less chase, giving massive points. When playing Killer for fun, you rely on Malicious to carry you, but because of how that is done you cannot get iridescent unless you Kill everyone, 3 hooks each.
Funnily enough, the second Emblems PTB was actually a huge success. It was nearly perfect. just hard enough for survivors so that you could still pip without meta perks as a solo, and just right for Killer where if you played good, you were thoroughly rewarded.
This is a duplicate comment of one I posted on an accidental duplicate thread of this one -
@BlooBoo to you and any other people who overreacted to this, you really should feel very grateful for the devs removing the program from the game. Not because it is something that needed to be removed, but because they are willing to do something like this because some people that don't do research asked for it to be removed. If you actually look at their website(I will even put the link here for you https://redshell.io/gamers ), it clearly states that the program is used only so that the developers know the best way to advertise their game.
Redshell does not do anything harmful and keeps no personal information. In fact, the exact opposite is true - it allows the developers/marketing team to properly advertise their game, so that future potential purchasers know fully what the game is, and are not being accidentally tricked into buying what they thought was, perhaps, an MMO, FPS, etc. etc..
There was absolutely no reason to complain, as it does effect us current players in any way, and help potential purchasers of the game know what they are actually buying. Of course it helps the developers too, because advertising the game properly will attract people who will play the game a lot, buying dlc and cosmetics, but it is not black and white.
Helping a game's developers get money does not always mean it is a bad thing. In this case, it is actually good because we can be very sure that BHVR will use this money to help advance the game. How do I know this? Because if they will be willing to stop using Redshell because you didn't do research and are now calling them EA levels of bad, then they would certainly be willing to keep happy players happy, and make them even happier. -
@TheBretzel this is a great reference to come back to. Reading all of the 81 questions and mostly half-ass answers went by real fast, but scrolling up... I grew a beard by the time I got to question 52
-
@weirdkid5 GREAT!
-
@danvain I am pretty much exactly like you! I think I listed some exhaustion perks in my OP, but I only run those if I am having a bad day and need a bit of help. I never run DS or Adrenaline, and I think I have only used Sprint Burst less than 5 times.
I also run No Mither in most of my builds because I think survivor is just way too easy, and I think that this perk should be part of the base game in some way.
-
On the Hag and Freddy it is third person. They are the exception though. Survivor always gets third person, the priveleged bastards!
-
Currently Detective Tapp. I would change to Ace because he gets a sexy pink shirt that I want to use all the time in the new store, but Tapp is prestige 3 with every perk level 3, while Ace is just level 50 with no prestige. Tapp took WAY too long to get to that point, and I just really don't feel like going through the whole process again with Ace.
The new survivor Kate Denson is kind of neat too, but her screams are too loud, she is brand new so she will be level 1, and I really just cannot stand maining a character that is not prestige 3. I like the blood! -
Just bumping your post so more people can see this
Edit: is there any way you can pretty please edit OP to not burn the readers' eye sockets out? I think I went temporarily blind trying to read how to make a spoiler.
-
@Venom @weirdkid5 There is some post I read on the forums here from @not_Queen that says the mid-chapter patch will be looking at all the current Killers and giving their base kits small boosts. There may also be general Killer buffs, like pallets and such, but I do not remember precisely what the comment said.
-
@Jack11803 @weirdkid5 I am in urgent need of help!!! How do I make my text a spoiler?
Edit:I did it.
-
@Visionmaker damn... I didn't realize blue was that damaging in mobile. I'll just write in this until mobile gets a dark mode, then(soon).
-
@Visionmaker Who is it? I haven't seen anyone writing in bright blue here...
-
@weirdkid5 yes. I basically am just making this comment to say, I love that you stopped writing in that purple. It burned my eyes!
-
I completely agree, however when asked on a live stream, the developers said that this is intentional for "balance." The only thing I see this doing is confusion, which does not go along with "balance."
-
@Shipthebread HOLY #########!!! 30 minutes? I didn't think it could possibly be that bad! Well, while an in-game currency incentive may work for some people, it would not fix the game's core mechanics. Maybe extra shards and bp could be a band-aid until real balance is worked out to make Killer fun to play again, though. Certainly on PS4 and Xbox it would work, but I am afraid on PC it would do as much good, as several people on PC including myself are already nearly "finished" with the game, at least in terms of progression. I already have every single Killer prestige 3, and am very close to getting every single perk on all of them(only about 4 Killers to go). My survivors also have all the teachables unlocked, and my main survivor Tapp has quite a lot of perks, prestige 3. So basically, PC needs a bit more of an incentive than just bloodpoints.
-
@Runiver as two people have mentioned in this thread before me, showing the Killer name would just result in survivors dodging every single Killer they get, and lobby times would be absolutely atrocious as they were a long time ago. A much simpler idea is something we can already do, just wait a minute before rejoining, that way we do not get matched with the same people again.
-
@Shipthebread overall trophies/achievements are just a bad way to view stats, because there are a lot of people who buy the game and never play it, or buy multiple copies for whatever reason. I do understand your point though, and it is the exact same here on PC. The problem isn't the system, it is that Killer in general is just not fun to play anymore.
EDIT: Also, the "kill 15 survivors" trophy is a secret one, and it refers to using a mori, not a sacrifice. Even a Killer main would need to play at least 100 hours of just Killer and leveling only Killer to have that many moris, plus all the games where they get wasted due to exploiters and/or cheaters. I don't think they Kobe achievement is secret(is it?), and even if it was, it didn't take me 100 hours of playing survivor to get that one. -
@DarXide If you don't want to face the same guy, just wait a minute before joining the lobby again. That is what I do as Killer if I don't want to face the same exact SWF team 7 times in a row.
-
I know that you have good intentions and on the surface, this definitely does look like it would work. But survivors would still just switch at the last second of their first 30 seconds. Now the only problem we "fixed" is dodging, but I would bet that people who are willing to dodge 10 different lobbies in a row are still willing to wait 15 minutes. Another issue is that this will punish people trying to check profiles. I ususally check all 4 survivor profiles as survivor and Killer, so that I know if I am facing someone I have blocked because of an exploit and/or cheat. This usually takes more than 30 seconds, just because Steam is slow.
In the long run, I think that what should really happen is to just make the game more balanced, items and add-ons included, keeping the lobby at 60 seconds, and also implement a system to block users in-game, or just keep track in-game of who is blocked on Steam. Then, with 0 reason to dodge at all, implement the 15 minute or whatever time penalty for dodging.
However, i do realize that we are far from balance. So here is an idea for a band-aid patch until then -
Everyone can still change loadouts, and everyone can still check profiles. However, the only difference is that item types cannot be changed for survivors. This means if you come in with a yellow toolbox equipped, then you can still change to any other toolbox, and change add-ons, but you cannot change to a key, medkit, flashlight, etc.. For survivors entering the lobby with no items, they can only change in the first 30 seconds. If the Killer leaves in this time, then the survivor will be blocked for joining a lobby for 10 seconds, and the Killer for 5. This sounds very stupid, of course, but I think it would stop the possibility of survivors trying to snipe a specific Killer's IP just to give them a hard time. They will still be stuck with a waiting time while the Killer searches for different people. It also just makes it harder for the Killer to accidentally get the same survivors. If the survivor leaves in this time, then they get a short penalty, or maybe none at all. This is so that if perhaps survivors are just sniping IP to make sure they don't play against an exploiting/cheating Killer, they can do so with little to no repercussions.
EDIT: After rereading OP a few more times, I see that I may have misread it when making this original comment. I will still leave the original comment for feedback on my suggestions, but I do think that OP actually does fix it a good amount of the problems with lobbies. However, I would suggest making the lobby 2 minutes, and 60 second time frames for each things, for the same reasons mentioned in my original comment. -
