So... what can be done to have players not Suicide or DC
Answer not much... VikingDragonXii Said it best
Players have to get over the fact that the Killer you DC'd against had no idea they were playing the same Killer one faced the last game
Or a lost game... on both sides
Players also need to realize that they can't play forever and stop playing (for the night or longer)

I would opt for all 3 of them.
Anyway good points. i have just 1 addition. It's not survivors who want easier games. It's some players (on both sides).
True... yea I got carried away there for a second
Wow... we agree on more then one thing... Are you sure this is the forums?

That they haven't fixed this problem even though devs pointed it out months ago the issue with skipped lobbies and queue times. It's the main reason I no longer play this game regularly and won't buy more DLC.
There are F2P games with better matchmaking than suffering this nonsense. But they don't care as long as 4 survivors get their pubstomp experience.
So are you complaining about MMR or Queue times???
MMR does work... but Queue times make MMR a moot point
-
Yea... I get it
-
BHVR can't nerf a player's decision... They can buff and nerf perks... and other things (that are out of one players control... I've not had a locker save happen to me but I'm only one person)
DS was used "to much" given that they were changing the "meta"... and again they can't force everyone to play one way
Now this game has more verity in perk choices
Also there are more issues with how the game is now... it seems like they decided to change the "meta" and not why it was "meta"

Yeah, Overcharge just missed being in the top ten, it's 8.8% pick rate.
Oh ok then... fair enough
With the way people talk about it I thought it was used more (same with Eruption)

Yea... I get it... but "where I from" sounded kinda insulting IMO
I'm doing fine but remembering stuff and sometimes when I talk I forget what the conversation was about... And when I walk my right arm doesn't swing naturally and my right leg hesitates taking the step

Well, I don't know about others but, I love changing cosmetics often on any character I play, otherwise I get bored. Also, I am more inclined to wear a halloween outfit on a character during the halloween time, same for christmas/winter. Now, if only Haddie got a Halloween outfit this year... :/
Ok... fair enough
-
Ok fair enough

Killer: Whispers- Cause I am lost without it
Survivor: Kindred- Cause I at least want to see what my teammates are doing after every hook... Plus When I get hooked they can see each other

I think it's a bit pointless arguing about where the BM on either side came from, or its link to tunneling. Sure, when survivors are being [silly little gremlins], killer will tunnel and that's completely understadable. But it also happens unprompted because it's a damn efficient strategy.
We're definitely looking at a "chicken or the egg" situation.
Just like Gen rushing VS Camping and Tunneling I guess
It's a vicious cycle that we all played a part in (Well most of us)
But then again is that all you got from my post?
-
Yes... recoding the game from scratch
Giving Killer more ways to slowdown the game... rather then just using certain perks and playstyles
Giving more incentive to getting all 4 Survivors to death hook
Stopping the gloating from Survivors at the exit gates... cause that has something to do with Killer's playing this way
I've almost done it a few times myself but was able to take a quick break and get over it
Bodyblocking also has something to do with it as well... Now I'm not saying everyone does it but it does get tiring for Killers whom don't Tunnel to then be bodyblocked into it (and then having the Survivors call Tunneling afterward)
Like what caused Killers to Tunnel in the first place... cause I remember a time when people said that Tunneling was "noobie"
-
The game is on bad foundation so it'll be hard to stop Tunneling... especially since you've said it yourself -It's the best way to "win"-
They would need to change the "win" condition for that to happen... and it's BHVR we are talking about
At this point if the Killer wants you dead there's no way of stopping it... even if they buff DS
-
Thanks... And I am fine now... It's been a year and a half since it happened
And Thanks for putting it up... it helps a lot
Funny enough I don't see Overcharge up there... But Call Of Brine and Eruption are up there
Lethal Pursuer doesn't surprise me much
Jolt is kinda surprising though
-
So was doing the Bloodweb before any better?
I have to ask seems that more and more people are complaining about it

Fun? My boy where i'm from, Fun never existed outside of single player, dbd is a hybrid of fun / anger / mixed emotion. =D
Where did I imply that the game is fun... And I asked "does that sound fun to you"
And is that all you got out of my post?
-
But to make Eruption work against SWF's it would destroy Solo's... IMO anyway
The problem I have with it is the fact that Some Survivor players want easy games... so they want easier counters to things they don't like
Not saying that OP is one of them
Eruption doesn't do that much damage to the Gens, but keeps Survivors from doing anything for 25 seconds
Survivors need to realize that the Gens don't need to be done in 5 minutes... and Killers need to realize that making a 3V1 off the rip isn't going to make their jobs any easier
And making a skillcheck occur for the sake of a counter may work for some players but not everyone...
So what else can be done with Eruption:
Increase the Gen regression
Decrease the Incapacitated timer
Make the cooldown longer
Or all of them
-
Damn I didn't know... I would've told you if that were the case
But I'm glad you found it
-
I would say.... the game remains the same so it's more of if you've got the mental side to play again
The Knight has bugs (but that is normal at this point)
The map is "miscolored" (it's too red to see scratch marks apparently)
The new perks are decent but we'll see how long that lasts
The perk changes went through but it's still Gen regression VS. Second chance (with more players opting to go for SWF play... Solo's aren't as good -From what I've seen-)
BT became basekit (I think at 10 seconds)
Killer recover faster from hits, DS was nerfed to 3 seconds, Killers can Kick faster (but not much)
@dugman What's the perk stats again? (I can't remember them -stroke happened last year and I can't remember a lot-)
Does that sound fun to you???
-
I don't care about cosmetics... I'll play whomever I want to
But that doesn't stop people from playing a character does it???
Like really having no cosmetics is stopping people from playing her???
The art team needs to start sharing more options then
-
Honestly it's not MMR... it's the need for quick Queues that messed you up
Prestige doesn't equal skill... it just shows how much BP a player has spent on a character
People don't want to wait for an even match... they just want to play
-

- Nurse will instantly chase if she sees scratch mark or survivor.
- Or she will kick Gen if she doesnt see either scratch mark or survivor.
Run isnt the best case against Nurse, since shes the best in chase. Not leaving scratch mark is better against her, thats why Urban evasion came together with Nurse.
This perk on Nurse forces survivors to run, because walk & hide is impossible.
Most Nurse dont kick Gen. But Im sure there will be no Nurse who use this perk and not kicking Gen.
I thought so
-
Playing as her can be hard enough... people have to learn how the power works in the first place... and people have to play against her to gain knowledge in how to play against her
But that's why she has the power she does... to make players play different
It's the same argument against the Nurse, Blight, Huntress, Trickster, Deathslinger, Hag... ETC
So sitting here saying what you have said only makes me smile and laugh (A little bit)
-
So then regress the Gen by 15% and incapacitated for 15 seconds
But then the "counterplay" still doesn't exist... but you aren't incapable for as long
And add Incapacitation to Vigil... that would help
-

Not really, Rancor is the proof of that.
Just make No Way Out have the same requirement as Rancor and we good.
That's because they coded it that way... it's harder to take a code and make it specific
I mean... it's like taking something big and general and making it small and specific
And plus it's BHVR we are talking about
-
That would be to hard for BHVR to code...
-
How many Nurses "kick" Gens?
For me it depends on situation so I won't be using that perk on Nurse
But I might use it on Pig and other Killers
-
Two different problems, Two different solutions

If you're tapping, you still have 1/2 chance that you'll be affected. I don't think that count as counterplay. For the cooldown part I agree that slapping long CD on stronger effect can work to mitigate their strenght but from à gameplay stand point it feels bad to play. Like, the only time eruption Cd matter, it just forces the killer to camp the gen until he can use his perk. I'd argue it's even worse for Oppression, the perk could have the same Cd as eruption and still be just OK to use.
So, increasing the Cd won't solve the problem with eruption. It just make it less consistent to use. I think it's a healthy perk in the way it triggers. They just need to solve the problem with incapacitated beeing very hard to counter.
So 50% the chance is the same as 100% got it....
What I'm saying is to Tap the Gen that's regressing (to stop it) then either work on it if you know what the Killer is up to or go to work on another Gen or cleanse/ bless a totem... Open a chest
There's more Gens (7) on the map... Unless you find yourself in a Three Gen situation (which is mostly Survivors fault)
-
They definitely need to fix that then...
-
Why does it matter what "skill" range one finds themselves
There are issues with it anyway
-
This is the most balanced the game has been in a long time... just saying
But there are outliers (Sweat SWF's, OP Nurse builds... ETC)
And MMR not working as intended is another problem... but they want people to get into a match fast so it's either one or the other
MMR would work if people stopped complaining about sitting in Queue (but that won't happen)... and MMR would work if people stopped DC'ing when something doesn't go they way they want... MMR would work better if BHVR added more to it rather then just Kills Vs. Escapes (just saying)... maybe adding Hooks and Gens completed to it would help (also it can't be specific cause then it would be the same as it is now)
Maps are another issue... BHVR needs to adjust the maps that are heavily side favored (Killer/ Survivor)
Perks are another issue... at this point they need to release a Perkless mode for us to play on... it would also give BHVR more data on the base game
People forgetting that this game is an Asym game... so it won't be truly balanced
Killer verity is another issue... but that's due to the Asym nature of the game... and the skill involved
-
Wait... you expect something similar to the "meta change" patch not even 6 months later?
I mean if they did something to make Gen speeds a little slower then it would be fine... but then Survivor players will complain
I didn't think increasing the charges of Gens would do much... and here we are
-
Survivor: Feng Min- She has a lot of perks (don't know about now)
Killer: Pig- She has a lot of perks (don't know about now)
-

I'd argue that the cooldown from oppression is the reason why the perk is not very usable. You won't manege to proc it after every chase. Make the 2 cooldown the same and put a skillcheck on eruption and you got 2 perks that works similarly but at different time of the game. And for the risk of gatekeeping Newer players, I think the state of eruption rn is much worse with no counterplay whatsoever.
But Oppression has that cooldown for a reason
So apply that to Eruption... give it a longer cooldown
There is counterplay to Eruption... it's just that players haven't done it yet... Gen Tapping is still a thing... not hard focusing a recently kicked Gen... or just wait till it activates then repair the Gen
Overcharge is a perk that didn't see much use until it got bonus regression for time elapsed... the skillcheck that doesn't go away when a Survivor lets go of a Gen is wrong
-
The problem with that is 2 fold
It would be to similar to Oppression if that were the case
And Newer players will struggle with it
It's also the reason why Oppression has a longer cooldown (the skillcheck and affecting multiple Gen with a single Kick)
At this point I would point to Oppression as the reason why they need to fix the base Gen regression
-
Sure why not... it's not like it would matter
But I also don't have anyone who would
-
We could increase base Gen regression.... and then change all of the regression perks
It's the only thing they didn't change in the "meta change" patch
-

sure enough. But as a survivor main (that still plays both sides) I tell you it's 100% fair to go for body-blocking person. He asked for it. He threw away his protection to protect another one so it's his fault when he goes down because of it
That's the point I wanted to get across
-
@Gandor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3248846#Comment_3248846
Well I don't even hit them. Bodyblocking takes time. It's most often just easier to wait out BT for 1 hit down. But to be frank, survivors don't body block me like this very often. Because they know it's very risky
Ok... it's the Killer's choice
-
You're welcome... LOL
-
It doesn't but it does show how much BP they had sunk into a character... and it seems like that player sunk a lot into Nea
-
It's all about how Survivors use them and how the Killer reacts to seeing it
If the Survivor wants to bodyblock then hit them activate the Deep Wounds and continue the chase... it's what they get for bodyblock in the first place
-
It does sound good on paper but it'll be different in practice
Wraith- the first Stealth Killer... Who's power comes from the ability to be undetectable and invisible would be the biggest loser in this situation
Maybe the way you've implemented it was wrong... but who am I
Also giving not used perks a buff sounds really good provided that it stays as a perk benefit and not in the basekit for Survivors
-
@VaporLion said:

tbh i would rather get an insta headpop after a gen got completed then to get into this position where i cant do anything that will let me live.
Maybe that could be an addon... but not the instant part
But like... the Pig activating the RBT herself rather then having the Survivors finish a Gen
Then again that would be OP... and hard to actually code into the game
-
I mean they honestly don't care too much about the Emblem System... if they did then that would've been better
But for Killer...
Gatekeeper- Gen times matter... so if the Survivors finish a Gen early in the match you lose points
Deviousness- Use of Killer's power... if you use it a lot then you get points and vice versa
Hunter- Finding and chasing Survivors...
Brutality- Injuring and hooking Survivors... plus destroying Pallets and Breakable Walls... Plus Kicking Gens (I think)
And for Survivor... it's pretty much the opposite but...
Repairing Gens, Saving and Healing other Survivors, Healing yourself and escaping, Chases (and losing the Killer during the chase) and Totems all matter in the grand scheme of things
Fixing those will take time but getting it right will help... And each have there own issues
-
Pig- Saw series (enough said)
Spirit- IDK I just got used to her
Hag- Getting a teleport hit is so satisfying
Huntress- Getting a hatchet hit just from a random throw is great... or missing on purpose and getting the hit is just as good
-
Then again if you ask those players whom are good at hitting great skillchecks how they became that good... They'd say it was old Ruin
So Eruption may be bad for the game now but if they change it and people start playing around how it used to work... It would be better for the game
Also Gen Tapping seems to be one way to not get caught by Eruption (for the most part)
All of the badly designed perks lead to players learning how to do something
Old Ruin- Great skillchecks and looking for Totems
Nurse's Calling (not saying it's a badly designed perk)- Not healing in the TR of the Killer
Discordance (again not saying that it was a badly designed perk)- Not grouping up on Gens... Splitting up on Gens
BBQ- Hiding in lockers, Being on the other side of a Gen, Being within 40M of the Killer... Positioning
-
Ok so...
1) The Pig isn't taking advantage of the fact that you have a RBT on... I.E. not working on Gens
2) The Pig whom Tunnels the Trapped Survivor is the same person who'd Tunnel no matter which Killer they played
3) That player is just hoping for a Head Pop that's it
