  • Personally, I'm not surprised it took this long to nerf his insta down like huntress iri head. It's behavior after all. When they touched hers, I knew they were coming for his one day. And it's about darn time too. Unlike huntress, clown doesn't need to let go of chase for a locker and waste time getting another hatchet. Clown can literally just reload while still having sights on you if he missed them.

  • In this game, killer streaks are honestly not that impressive as they appear to be. But to each their own. Cause you are literally going against pubs players that are mostly solo q players. Id be more impressed if the streaks consist of going against swfs. But even then, thats a killer's worst nightmare when it comes to streaks. And usually, thats the 1st thing they blame it on if they lose the streak.

It's not a contest. I know you said a lot there, but it seems your overarching desire is to just have more non-straight characters in DBD than OW. This makes it feel a bit nuanced and tarnished. If more representation comes, it needs to in future characters. Ret-con'ng established characters feels wrong and will be quite generic and unacceptable, to be frank.

I find none of these issues matter when Im running for my life from a murdering psychopath. Strange.

I agree that its not a contest, and my goal is not to have more than ow. Ill let that be clear. My point is that we only have 2 and its been 8 years considering how many characters we have and the new content we get daily.

And although it may not matter when running from a psychopath trying to murder you. Keep in mind, this is still a video game where your life is in fact.....not in danger. So ppl are free to play how they want, roleplay as they want, and connect with these fictional characters as they please. Cause at the end of the day, they continue to make new survivors which are skins. The only differences are perks. No unique abilities to a character at all with the exception for killers. We are already at a time where its getting stale from the survivor side. And perks, design, lore, all of it has to at least connect with a variety of players in order to keep it from being stale. They cant always rely on one aspect of the game to keep it alive.

I'm LGBT and agree entirely. I think this whole need to push this is kind of silly. There are so many better things to focus on.

I cant even call this a push tbh. Its more of a nudge to the shoulders in my eyes. To let them know to be more aware. Thats all

Ow didn't do it better they started with a cast of ~20 characters then overtime just slotted them into what representation they wanted at the time with no care for what the current characters lore, backstory, or interactions up to that point they just wanted a representation "win" some of the newer stuff is a bit better about it but frankly they stink at it and don't do it right.

Dbd on the other hand does it much better by grass roots building out a characters lore or making a new character that happens to be part of that representation rather what blizzard does of caricature representation with no thought behind it or complexity to the rest of the character, then retroactively change it or cover up what they initially were to make it seem like that was their plan all along.

Don't ask for it to be rapid fire because then it won't be done well which is worse than not doing it at all

Ur not making any sense. Because the claim that you are using against ow is the same bhvr has done with david and susie. Both old characters that have recently been updated on their sexuality with more lore via a tome and a recent comic respectively.

I personally dont care if a company does it to see it as a "win." All i care about is how they deliver the character's sexuality, be it a new or old character. And how well they treat their own characters after the fact. And both companies have done well in delivering the lore baclground. But my issue is that bhvr hasnt done ENOUGH, since they have a history of doing so much for the lgbt community and how many lgbt players make up the playerbase.

As a gay individual myself, god I hate titles but this needs to be said.

Good for overwatch I guess? I mean no disrespect, however I will say this. It’s very clear how much DBD supports the lgbt community with everything that they do, it’s not a pressing matter to get more stuff.

Id rather them focus on the game more that needs help. Reevaluating maps, adjustments to perks that need help for survivor and killer, helping the survivor meta, balancing killers that are struggling, working on new maps, fixing killers that got reworks that took completely away from their original design. (Trickster, Sadako, Freddy…etc)

More gay content and representation can “come” ;) but I really think they have a lot of other task to consider first as priority.

Well as a gay individual also, its not like the community is asking for too much or asking them to drop everything to fill in more lgbt characters. They can walk and chew gum at the same time and still bring out fresh new content/fix their game. End of the day, its still a gaming company with separate departments that focuses on different issues. As it will always be eye opening, regardless of where you stand, that bhvr who supports the lgbt community so vigorously with drag stream representation, lgbt charity events etc. Yet, they only have the courage to have 2 lgbt original characters currently. And we have more characters than overwatch.

And the reason i compare them to overwatch, even tho different genre of games, is only because they both started around the same time, most of our players actually play ow as well, and even fortnite. Yet, they have more lgbt characters than us

  • Nothing so far. But even then, the perk is worthless in a coordinated swf. The perk just has no real benefit when other killers usuall bring gen regression perks like surge or simply just kick gens to do away with a measly removable 15% charges.

I heard the beginning concept of the perk had it be like bnp where 15% couldnt be removed but they changed that for ptb. They should bring that back honestly. Otherwise nobody will run it like teammwork perks

  • It could use a buff. I agree. But although they function the same, a player honestly can still play differently with the two perks. I can see players who play visionary immediately just go to thw nearest gen and finish before a deja vu player. Keep in mind, a deja vu player has to waste time getting to that gen then finishing while a visionary user will be already done with theirs. (Now this applies if the killer doesnt interrupt them of course.)

  • They definitely dont. And tbh, i really dont care. Killer players are gonna do what they wanna do. Be sweaty, slug for a 4k, tunnel, camp; anything if they want to keep the streak going. Be it ruining a players experience or draining the spirit of an overall casual game

  • Chile. This game is on a downward spiral. I just use this game mostly as a dress up simulator at this point.

And it's our favorite momey maker, Mikaela. Surprised Feng wasn't included.

  • Im telling you. Once you get tired of being tunneled, you'll slap on otr and ds on your build sooner or later. We shouldn't be forced to do it, but if majority of survivors started to do that, then the killer community would realize that tunneling is not the best strategy.

  • @arcaneGospel said:

I think it's fascinating that a lot of people in this thread's knee-jerk reaction is that BHVR is relentlessly money hungry and cares more about that than creating a good narrative or anything. Is it so hard to believe that BHVR just... Maybe never intended to use Julian again, at least not as a survivor? I won't deny it'd be cool to see him again, but it'd be rather dull if he was a survivor instead of a killer. Toothless, I think. With Sable, Mikaela gets to hold onto the hope that hey, maybe Julian is in the fog, given Sable came looking for her just like she'd be hoping to find Julian. It makes for a perfectly good story, I'd argue a better one than if we just got Julian as a survivor or if we got Julian as a killer who only connected back to Mikaela.

Well for one, sable being in the fog will not have an effect on mikaela anyways. They dont do tome lore where a character interacts with another in the fog that are in the trials. Because it would be a plothole towards their own base lore of memory wipe etc. So i doubt devleopment between the 2 will occur. What they will obviously do, is tell the story about what sable has done after mikaela disappeared which lead her into the fog. They've been doing that recently with these new characters.

  • Now i wouldve said give an invocation perk that makes everyone 3% faster permanently at the cost of being broken of course. Lol! But you know killers wouldnt like that.

Or because she has actual reasons to dislike her. It's been about a year and I'll say every time I've played against one the chase music gives me a headache.

Its honestly so sad this happens. I used to love sm chase music even during her old powers. And thats because i never had a issue with her personally because everyone still played the game out. It was until at the end with 1 gen left ppl gave up.

But now i cant stand her music because she's unbearable. Now ppl dc/leave b4 any gens are done and it ruins my experience as a whole because of it

  • It's fine. It's fine. I appreciate that tho. I'll apologize as well cause I was a bit triggered over the miscommunication. I just don't want to take away the OP's topic cause it really is an interesting point they brought up that the devs are displaying right in front of us.

No rework or adjustment is going to get ppl to stop suiciding on hook 🪝

I miss her old version. They should’ve kept it. Minus getting scanned while not moving of course.

The solution is not to completely stop suiciding on hook. That will never happen. But it is to lower the risk of it. Even now with sadako new adjustments, I haven't seen ppl dc at all against her or suicide on 1st hook. Her condemning potential was lowered but the experience even for newer players at least improved

No need for the “easy sweetie”, it comes off as demeaning and rude.

They were simply asking a valid question and clearly pointed out it wasn’t a hate post.

It's not demeaning at all. You literally have to have common sense to know it's not demeaning when I never made it seem that way towards the person throughout my response further down the line. I never devalued or talked down towards the person even further as I gave my opinion. I swear, ppl really just want to victimize a situation these days. Ppl really have a hard time reading the room.

  • @catslayer said:

A bit long, but not a rant. Just a random thought. Just wanna see whether majority of people agree or not.

Both of them are heavily connected to Mikaela's lore. Technically, to Mikaela overall. But wasn't Julian mentioned WAY earlier than Sable? Right at Mikaela's release, wasn't he mentioned in her lore, while Sable had literal 0 information about herself?

The point is...why have creators decided to put a whole new character out of nowhere, and not the one that was already mentioned? It could've been such a good plot-twist if he was released instead of her, and would make much more sense. And the fact that Mikaela's lore also states that he had also "disappeared" into the fog makes it more expectable. Not gonna lie, I've always been curious about him as a character, and still am.

But it's still such a missed potential, which is sad. What if it was a 2-survivor chapter instead, both Sable and Julian, along with the Unknown? Just like the Lyras. Mikaela would be the "3rd survivor", not officially speaking. I love everything about this new chapter, though: the map, survivor and the killer...the survivor's just a bit "random", lore-speaking.

Basically, here's a comment of someone else's I found that is summed in a shorter and more-explainable way, which I agree with, and got a bit of inspiration from:

"But this last point is also what made me pause, because her niche as a character in the story... was kind of already filled. Anyone remember Julian? Mikaela's actual best friend, very important character in her story, who got taken by The Entity when the two started snooping around a bit too much? I feel like that, if the devs wanted to introduce in game a character with ties to our favorite ginger, he would have been the literal perfect fit. Which makes Sable's existence kind of... redundant, I think it's the right term. They made a character that basically already existed, is what I'm trying to say, and it feels like BHVR is trying to retcon the poor guy out of the story, for whatever reason."

----(Now, don't get me wrong...This isn't a hate-post about Sable, she's currently one of my most likeable characters in like the whole time i've started playing DBD (almost 2 years). I think she's pretty neat: design, voicelines, characteristics, unique perks, the lore (even though a lot of people say she's "bland" and makes herself seem like a "not like other girls", I still like it, even if it's simple and more about her edginess), and because she's our first goth girl...in other words, i'm definitely gonna main her when she releases into the live servers; prestiged her to 6 in PTB, because that's how much she's interesting of a character to me. I'm still really happy that she exists in general.)----

Easy sweetie. Good marketing, money. It's no secret that mikaela was a success. So they honestly took the easy route. Create a new character that was never mentioned in mikaela's lore and make sure the aesthetics is at least close to that popular character in order to really benefit from it.

Atp, we know the devs have kinda shifted away from connecting old dbd lore, old characters in the lore from existing ones for the sake of easy money making. They abandoned the pariah lore-we dont know the rest of the members, they abandoned, jordan-haddies brother who is also in the fog, and they abandoned julian-another who was taken into the fog. In fact, I also go so far to believe they made Sable, a female character over picking Julian, a male character, because they know the community just favor female survivors anyways.

And the most heart aching thing about Sable being picked over Julian is that he could've been our first trans character. Below is a picture from one of dbds tweet when teasing Mikaela, but the words on the left are from a YouTuber tho.

    maxresdefault.jpg

As you can see, it was a possibility that Julian could've been a trans character if they went along with it. Julienne is a girls name and they honestly could've made another big step for trans representation. But they took the easy way out and chose to create a new character that had no relation to Mikaela prior to her debut.

I'll still give Sable a chance of course. But dbd devs are just trying to make the most out of their resources even if it means devaluing their own lore.

  • I always kept it 100%. I never liked billy to begin with and ppl gave me the side eye. To be able to have the best maneuvering power and most lethal power in game, I always knew. It was harder then, but now they just made it much easier. I don't even bother to heal myself or anyone else against billy anymore. Ppl will get downed pretty quickly by his chainsaw anyways.

  • Atp, I'm playing dbd as a dressing simulator at times. I almost given up hope that the devs care about the fair experiences, especially for new survivors. You get camped and tunneled out at 5, thats too bad. They really don't care.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

The only issues with versing her is the vital targeting processor add on. If you hate the hindered chances are you hate that add on giving you too much of it.

It's physically impossible to 3 gen anymore.

Besides the undetectable (which is only 8s), she has to earn all of her status effects through scans. People enjoyed old chase merchant running geo readout and strobes, I didn't see anyone complaining those add ons "gave her too many status effects (🤓)".

Honestly I think she's in the best spot she's ever been in, and despite the hindered lasting a bit too long I think she's one of the better designed killers in the game rn.

Maybe when people get good and hop off the sm hate bandwagon they can finally have fun against her and not give me free bloodpoints by giving up at 5 gens.

It really doesn't matter how you feel or anyone feel with all due respect about defending SM. If majority of the community have a negative reception about her powers, which was acknowledged during sadako's 2nd rework stream by the devs when saying they rework killers that cause too many dcs, then your defensive response for her falls on deaf ears.

It literally only takes one button at a loop to get value. Be it through her scan or getting a free hit because you left the tile because she doesn't lose speed unlike other trap killers like Hag or trapper. And on top of that the number of status effects from 3 scans that's can't even be removed unless you just take it or get hooked is too much.

Personally I find it as a waste of time for the devs to even have reworked her in the first place if they were going tackle the 3 gen problem months later. That was the only issue survivors had with her and why they would leave.

But if they not going to change her completely, they need do some major adjustments on her base kit. I don't care. This issue will continue to be a problem from the community because we are still talking about it to this day. The devs knows it and acknowledged. And sooner or later, even though it's not in the current schedule they already given us, she will most likely get some adjustments in the future like sadako's 3rd time of adjustment. Trust, she will be dealt with again.

  • Ah....I remember the good ol days that I would recommend this game to people. But all this hard tunneling at 5 gens etc really pushed me to never do that anymore. It's also the reason that dbd is slowly bleeding out players. At this rate, it will eventually be unable to support itself and that all the blame will be towards the devs since they don't want to do anything about it.

  • Trust, until a rework or adjustment is in order, I will use my 4% chances against her. A luck mechanic thats in the game so I can't be reported for it for using it. Oh well.

  • Meh. I got so used to me or someone else getting tunneled that i just bring anti tunnel perks for myself. Now if its somebody else and they die at like 4 to 5 gens, i just hide. If the killer wanna be boring then ill be boring back. Lets play hide and seek. Gotta prolong the match somehow. Cant have a quick match

How does broken help in chase exactly? You said in chase, only speed and slowdown matters from her current kit. You could say information to some extent, but I don't really see that oppresive...

If she has old pallet breaking, that would be oppresive, but that's gone...

Well. I wont go tit for tat over skull merchant on a forum. Ppl already do that here with multiple posts because of her. Ive done enough of that. Its already has been addressed by the devs, and whether you like it or not, she definitely will have a few adjustments in the future like sadako has already. Its not on the current schedule, but in due time she will be dealt with again.

  • 60% seems ok i guess. But what i hate the most is that they just ignore some of the concerns from survivor players when, some not all, killers take advantage of their role by playing dirty such as hard tunnel at 5. End of the day, its just a game. But when anyone in the match plays dirty just to win a casual game, its pretty tragic. The quality experience should be focused on both sides imo

She's too oppressive when it comes to status effects during chase.

So 3% haste and 10% hindered (delayed based on survivor's choices) is too oppresive in chase? You know that just purple bottle from clown is better than this? 15% + yellow bottle if needed...

Tell me how she is too oppressive?

I mean, clown doesnt injure you with 3 bottle hits. Make you broken and be in deep wound base kit. And not only that, you cant get rid of the drone ticks unless ur hooked or just take the injury. Yea. Thats too oppressive. And we havent even touched on her add ons giving more status effects.

Teamwork perks were never a real mechanic anyway, there was no reason to name them as if they were unique. I think they only did it because BHVR expected people to use them together but then made them too weak to bother with.

I honestly liked the teamwork mechanic. Only because I usually duo with my friend. But to have 2 people recieve a benefit from healing each other and staying in close proximity at all times was pretty nice to see. Now obviously, it definitely doesn't work well in solo q, but it was cool. And I wished they buffed it.

  • All I know is that it better see a good buff. Otherwise, another new survivor perk mechanic thrown to the garbage at the start line. Just like teamwork perks and to a certain extent, boons as well.

I agree with you on everything you said except for the part where you said she’s insufferable. That seems way too extreme. Everyone has killers they don’t enjoy going against fine.

Skull Merchant just isn’t a major issue anymore. I’d rather deal with her than Knight, Legion or Wesker in my personal opinion.

But it is extreme. When you have the majority of the community still having issues with a killer, it's a problem. When you have a killer that causes the community to outright say her name in the comments during a discord stream over sadako rework; which was said when the dev in the stream say we rework killers that causes a high rate dc and is not enjoyable. They even acknowledged those people's comments when everyone said her name. So once again, I believe they have to go back to the drawing board for a 2nd time with her just like sadako. Doesn't even have to be another rework. She's too oppressive when it comes to status effects during chase.

  • I'm gonna have to disagree. She's more played and more popular now than she was during her 3 gen days. Only a select few people were willing to serve their role as a boring 3 gen merchant and stay in a long match. And the moment she was reworked, those infamous players stopped playing her; then more players started playing her because she became more easier to play as a chase killer and easier to win with.

But what she doesn't need is a nerf. Cause there are still people doing or giving up 1st hook. I don't blame them. She's insufferable. Now I don't condone doing of course but the devs need to do something about her again

Also i'll never get the people who wants modern cosmetics for Gabe but takes massive issue with Vittorio getting modern cosmetics just because he's from the dark ages, either all Survivors can have modern clothing or nobody can have modern clothing.

I agree with this. Of course I understand people want casual skins for him. I do too at times. But the next biopunk skin imo will be the most casual looking outfit from his time period. If you played cyberpunk 2077, some npcs wear stuff like that.

But at the end of the day, I'm fighting for a shirtless skin anyways for him. Call me basic, but I want it

  • @Xernoton said:

It's no secret that many of us would like to see some more solo queue improvements. However, it's not as simple as "just buff solo queue". What would you buff, that only helps in solo queue? The purpose of this thread is to explore different options and maybe work out some suggestions for the devs.

One idea, that is often mentioned is a base kit Kindred effect, which I am very much in support of as long as it doesn't include aura vision on the killer. That part should remain tied to the perk. Of course Kindred would need, further buffs to make it worthwhile.

Another idea is to give survivors a chat wheel to allow them to communicate even without comms. This could help solo survivors in their coordination and increase their efficiency especially on low to mid levels of gameplay.

But all of this would not be enough to let all solo queue issues disappear. One reason for that is DBD's poor matchmaking, which is caused by the MMR gains. As @xEa explained in a different thread:

"Thats the problem with the MMR and its escape=skill philosphy. It is simply not true. Getting carried by a strong looper and eventually escape, or hiding for hatch is not considere to be skillful but rather relying on luck and teammates. And when i see survivors in my lobbies, it is often times obvious how they landed there."

This results in huge skill differences between solo survivors. One might be a god tier looper, while the other is only good at hiding and profitting off others, which makes them liability rather than an asset for their team. This is an issue, that must be deal with. Chase time, objective progression and different actions throughout the match should have an impact on how a players MMR changes. This would mean, that players that are actually good would be paired together, which would lead to much more conistent teams.

What other ideas do you have to help out solo queue? Please keep in mind, that simple buffs (either to perks or the base kit) are not exclusive to solo queue and keep the discussion civil.

I personally believe survivors should have unique abilities or a class where several survivors can fit into one depending on their specialty. But I doubt bhvr will be bold to do all that. They have a hard time balancing killers as it is. Doing that on survivor side would be too much for them.

  • Well just yesterday in a span of 3 hours I escaped like 3 matches out of 10. Lol! But idc. I never take this game seriously anyways as a solo q survivor. Now some killers probably take it seriously but that's on them. But when I do play killer, it's fairly easy to 3 to 4k since you depend on yourself so that's not surprising.

  • I would like for survivors to have their own unique abilities to shake up the game for survivors. But they said they wouldn't do that which is honestly boring. But I'm also not surprised because that takes alot of work as it is and we know they do the bare minimum already.

  • @xEa said:

Not blaming the Blight for performing well, neither the survivors for playing poorly, but it is what it is: The MMR does not work in a correct way.

I said it multible times but the general idea of escaping or killing people is not necessary a good indicator for playing good or bad. Many hook stages, long chases by a survivr or simply efficency during chase have way more impact and more to tell about someones skill then escaping.

The numbers of times where the worst survivor on the other team escaped is inarguably higher then their best player, just from my personal experience.

They can't be considered the worst survivor if they managed to use stealth to escape via hatch. When ur down 2 ppl with several gens left, I never blame players, especially solo q players, to resort to stealth to outlast the other. Cause it doesn't matter how godlike you are in chase, you will eventually go down and the other survivor may not even finish or attempt the gens at all.

  • They honestly shouldn't have changed her original power when they were planning on eliminating 3 gen hostage situations. They were hasty on their part. The only problem survivors had with her then was that alone. Because people who played skull merchant for chase during her original powers were weak and not oppressive. And because people complained about that, they made her more oppressive in chases for doing so little and pressing one button. And mind you, she only had 4 drones during that time instead of 8. That's overkill.

  • It doesn't matter. There are killer players that will still commit to 4ks regardless of the game telling them they already won with a 3k. It's a mentality from players the devs can never change

  • Yea. Ive only been using like 2 headpieces mainly for vittorio

  • And they said they still testing the perks being displayed on the right corner in the lobby too. Some ppl still don't have that. Yea. At this point, we might as well give up on all that.

  • That's so sad. You would think as an OG 4 cast, he would get the same treatment as the other 3. But no. And it really feels like they know what they are doing and don't feel ashamed for neglecting him. But hey. This isn't new to us. Their is favoritism on bhvr side so this shouldn't be old news for us all. It's the popular characters that get it all

  • Not with these high kill rates. It don't matter.

  • Wow. People really don't want it. Killers can have bloodlust, multiple vault speed perks and vault blocking. But the moment survivors get more than 1 vault perk, it's the end of the world as we know it.

  • Meh. I would just buff visionary to not be deactivated when a gen gets completed. It's simple and easy to use and doesn't really need anything else.

Yea, people prefer deja vu over it, but there are some key differences between visionary players vs deja vu players. I'm a visionary user, and my mindset is just to get on a gen the moment I spawn in the trial. I could definitely finish the gen before a deja vu user has to run to their 3 gen and finish a whole gen. Most of the time, I really want to finish the 1st gen because killers usually bring pain res. And I just love to finish 1 gen before that happens.

  • The way I will never buy sets on original characters. No matter how good they are. I'm sorry, I just can't. There are some skins even now that are unlinked that causes clipping when mix and matched with other skins, but aren't sets.

  • It's honestly so tragic. I've come to terms that they don't like gabriel. Give the lyra siblings and SM 2 store skins during their midchapter debut, but none for end transmission. And vault his unreleased skin. But that's OK. I like him more anyways. If it was Feng, Kate, Meg, etc, they would've left it unlinked.

  • The power of stealth is MAXIMIZED when I'm playing as myers. I'm stalking from a distance, and they can't see me. I mean, I can't either but I know I see them if I'm stalking from a distance. It spooks them even more once they hear my tier up.
