So you would rather waste 1 hour of your time because the killer played ruthlessly instead of just move on with your life ?
You people have too much tome on your hands i guess.
The devs literally said one time recently that it wasnt reportable when a tombstone myers and a survivor in locker waiting until the server closed is not bannable. When both sides are being petty that prolongs the game, i think the devs just lets it go and dont do anything.
In fact, i personally believe the devs have not banned anyone over stalling a match anymore ever since they lowered the match time to an hour like almost 2 years ago when it was much longer. They will only ban ppl that intentionally grief and hold a person hostage when the other side has no means to progress the match ex: bodyblocking, unaccessable area that the other side cant get to them, the locker exploits etc
-
There is literally a higher player count that normally since its the anniversary. So you gonna likely get some ppl that havent touched dbd in awhile and are playing for the event.

So basically the killer is only allowed to play who they're actively spending BP on for the event and should bring in a cobbler every match or the survivors have a right to leave and waste everyone's offerings and time.
But for the survivors bringing in an offering just for them the killer shouldn't care and it's perfectly fine.
Typical survivor double standards and killer policing.
Also I never said I was "mad", just people are being petty about it. As you're showing.
Nothing wrong with a lil pettiness. Also given that the killer has the privilege to control the flow of the match and bloodpoints, i think my stance is more justified. A killer can camp and tunnel out a survivor and they get a mere fraction of points to their other teammates that survived longer. A killer can leave if they want to if they dont see a full cake lobby. But dont expect a lot of sympathy from most ppl in the community when it comes to unfair treatment towards the killer when it comes to anything involving bloodpoint offerings etc. By default, killers reap the most points in a match anyways as they should

"switching characters, or using a character they don't want to spend BP on at that time."
Having BP from reset doesn't solve those issues. I might be playing a character I want to play but I have others I'm spending BP on to get their perks, to get them to a state where I have the stuff I want to play them, or I might just be switching to a new character and didn't get the offering.
Also I mentioned both sides. It's not just killers, I've seen survivors throw up an envelope instead of a cobbler plenty.
This literally doesnt help your argument at all. It literally cost under 30k to get a cake on the killer side. And if you dont have the effort to do that while everyone brings cake, dont be mad ifone person leaves.
And yea, ive had very few survivors who brought envelopes or cakes for themselves. But not like i care if im killer and get the most points anyways by default even if i win or lose.

I get people dislike skull merchant but people really are petty about it.
I despise Spirit with a burning passion but I never gave up against her even when she was at her peak because there's 4 other people in the game. Skull merchant isn't even strong, just annoying.
Unfortunately there's many entitled survivors and either killers play the characters they approve in the way they approve or they'll refuse to participate in the match.
As for all the people saying "you brought a pudding" that's also immature imo. Sometimes players don't have an event offering available to use for one reason or another. There's 4 and yall are really mad because "no 5th?" so you just throw all 4 away. The killer/survivor could be on their first event game, switching characters , or using a character they don't want to spend BP on at that time.
Oh puhlease. We just had grade reset day of anniversary starting. And this person already has more than enough based on their current bloodpoints to get a couple of cakes very quickly. In fact, killers can only get cakes on their bloodwebs in every level. That's the only offering they get. So if a survivor leaves if they see a pudding, I don't blame them if they leave the match b4 it starts tbh
-
Sure. Ppl give up for a variety of reasons when it's not SM. But we definitely don't have to figure out why a survivor dc or give up immediately when a SM is present. And u know what, good for them. Cause even I chosen to not participate in any matches with a SM during this anniversary if I get one. But hey, at least you get easy bloodpoints. Both sides win in a way.
-
So glad they haven't shoved her with so many skins at a short time. But eventually, they will anyways. They need the money of course. Even if it means neglecting other characters
-
I'm having a good time. Honestly, there really isn't any difference for me. Normal mode or the event, there will be a few matches where the other side just plays to win by any means necessary. Thats just dbd. I absolutely love the boosts from the mad designer. It's new and spices up the matches.

Otz is just grabbing onto a hot topic perk (especially now because of Weave Attunement) for view$. Nothing new. This perk was considered mediocre until killers suddenly found themselves with a litany of aura reading perks and of course now it's problematic.
Exactly. Distortion only became a problem for killers once they started adding more powerful aura reading perks.

Good call. They waste your time, you waste theirs.
I always laugh at ppl who do that. They complain about survivors wasting their time, but you waste even more of your own time by being so stubborn to just not hook them and move on. Basically, it's the tombstone Michael and survivor in a locker. Both parties being so stubborn that they waste their own time. It's very comical for me.

Please, choose a male survivor as a winner. It's about time.
I agree. But I have feeling it will still be the same result. As usual. But at least we get to see some great designs. I guess.

A "Party Game", in more modern definitions, is used to refer to a multiplayer (online or in-person) game that normally consisting of a series of short minigames, that can easily be played within a social setting.
When I think of a Party Game, I usually think of Jackbox Games or Mario Party, games that rely on social interaction to provide a fun and unique experience, which Jackbox provides, or a series of minigames that provide variety and draw in the players attention, like Mario Party.
But I often see "Dead by Daylight is a Party Game, it shouldnt be taken seriously", and which I ask, is it really a Party Game?
In Public Matches, Dead by Daylight is not a super serious competitive game. There is no Ranked/Unranked queue, just a single queue. Official Tournaments funded by BHVR are not really done anymore either, so most of the competitive aspects come from the community-made events that generally come from a lot of passion and love for the game.
But just because it's not super competitive does not automatically umbrella it as a Party Game either, which is what a lot of people dont understand (in my opinion). Dead by Daylight is, at least by definition, not a Party Game. And even if it were, people would not throw such a fit about winning/losing or how other people play a game. Clearly there is some competitive aspect to drive people into such a direction.
So where does this leave us?
Well, somewhere in the middle. DBD is not a Party Game, but it's not a super serious competitive game either, it's within a middle area between the two in which aspects of either can co-exist and should co-exist without either being deemed as problematic.
If you want to play hyper casually and dont care about winning or losing, you should be able to do that without any issues. Likewise, if you want to play hyper competitive and do care about winning or losing, you should be able to do that without any issues. The game enables both as valid ways to play the game, but neither side should act as if their way of playing actively dictates how the other should play.
Yea. Reading this and the back of my head is still screaming it still is like mario party in my mind. Cause I definitely used to just troll, play to win etc on mario party. If I'm losing, oh, I'm making it my mission that you don't win 1st place in mario party(of course if it doesn't involve cheating etc which is not cool). I see Party games where it means anyone can join in. Regardless of your mindset. If you're comp, join in. If you're casual, join in! Everyone is invited.
Now obviously a Party with that many diverse playstyles will clash with each other and problems can arise. End of the day, play as you like. As long as it doesn't involve cheating, exploits etc.

Also, many people from the community team were just laid off and we might be seeing some effects of this in the upcoming weeks/months regarding communications
Oh yea! Ur right. I believe it were mostly community managers too. Ok yea. So communications on some stuff will be a lil limited for now

popular survivors and killers get more cosmetic, unpopular ones get once in while, dunno why everyone expecting devs waste their money on haddie skin, how often do you see a haddie anyway?
How often does she get new skins is the real question. Especially when they botched her debut with no green rarities and her purple skin was a set. Why would anyone want to play her if they doomed her to fail at the beginning with nothing. Then neglect her further
-
Well I mean. This game isn't as comp as the other games you gave an example. Dbd is still casual at its cote. And personally, I'd feel so good about myself if I looped a killer for 5 gens and all my teammates made it out. I'd feel so powerful!!

Behaviour is a company that has employees, who need to get a monthly salary.
They create skins for most played characters, so they can monetize their work the most.
You can't blame them for doing that.Jeff's belly being smaller is a bad thing? I am not offended by it as a plus size person.
Mikaela is loved by the community so why not make skins for her?
I really feel like community just wants to make company's life difficult.
Why don't we just accept decisions of the company on their own playground?
We don't have to accept the decisions made by a company that claims to embrace diversity, yet does the exact opposite for recent poc survivors that have been neglected. I mean, I'm not gonna stop you from buying anything of course. But don't be surprised when ppl voice their opinions about this topic and continue to do so.

That's still a mystery. All we know is that it resided in a realm at one point that had so many discarded body parts. It was the same realm in the lore where Saku found Maurice trapped in before she managed to rescue him.

- Modifier: Chaos shuffle ... Among the various useless perks I have Scavenger.
- I had never used this perk actively (I don't like "gen perks"), I think I only used it for the Gabriel adept. Seeing this perk I activate to make it "work" just for fun... but then I discover that I have a strange debuff and the red bar in my "generator work". I think about some of the killer's perks and continue my game. At the end of the game, intrigued by this perk, I read the perk description and discover this
- "Recharging a Toolbox will reduce your Repair speed by -50 % for the next 40/35/30 seconds".
- I don't understand what the point of this perk is... give the toolbox to a teammate and do something else? why am I punished for activating my perk? Am I punished to avoid genrush? but if Devs want to discourage genrush....why make a perk for genrush? should I use the toolbox to sabotage?
- And as a final thought....if Build to last exists....why should I use Scavenger? Scavenger requires 5 perfect skill checks, so it's not even that easy to activate 🤣 This perk (for me) is a mystery
Well to you, it may not be easy to get 5 great skill checks. But to others, it's actually easy. Also, Scavenger has unlimited usages while built to last weakens with every refill, btw, you waste time going into a locker to activate while you at least do some progression with Scavenger. Even if u are at a rebuff 50%.
Overall, Scavenger is a bit harder for newer players while built to last is pretty easy to use.

I am tempted to forgive them just because they released the cutest sweater for Gabriel today. But yeah, all females again. I'm not surprised though. I do like that they added 3 skins in 1 bundle, it's a really cool idea.
Btw, this Mikaela skin was just featured for a week in the Developer's Choice bundle. :')https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/X5Q2JTQ178M9/screenshot-2331.jpg
That's crazy. I don't even think Ive seen any OG male characters in the discount for this last week. Like, they don't really care. No incentives at all to even play male survivors.
-
Looks like we can add another week where only female characters only get included. Yui and only female killers. So....are they gonna just shun male characters from now on or what?
-
I dont know about other ppl, but Ive always been under the impression that consultants playtest whatever ideas presented by the devs which makes it into the ptb. Then we as a community including the fog whisperers give our feedback when we play it.
So i fail to understand how certain Fog whisperers believe they are being ignored when it comes to giving feedback. When we all collectively come together and see something that is too much or not fun, we come here together on the forum and let our voices be heard; whether it aligns with the consultants feedback or not. End of the day, the devs are the ones who make the final decision and sometimes they listen, sometimes they dont. And this recent next patch, its been positive at the start from what ive seen with some room for improvement.
-
Personally I'm not one for someone's work to not be acknowledged. I feel like for the people who worked behind the scenes are now at least getting recognition for their passion and work. For some people to get backlash for it, I think we need to look at ourselves a bit more as a community to be grateful and appreciate the time and effort they put in so that we can fully experience it on the ptb.

Hey folks, I see a lot of questions and confusion so I'm going to do my best to clear up as many as I can.
About the program itself:
- This program is not new, it has existed since shortly after the game's release. Previously consultants were not able to confirm they were part of the group without breaching their NDA. We have recently restructured the program and allowed members to say that they are members.
- Consultants are asked for opinions on upcoming changes and invited to closed playtests where they can give feedback.
- While the program itself is now public info, the details of what they are playtesting and/or giving feedback on are not. Please do not ask them what's going on in there, they cannot tell you.
- There is no public list of all consultants, nor do we plan to share one. We leave it up to each person to decide if they are comfortable disclosing it as it could attract unwanted attention and/or scrutiny.
About consultants and requirements:
- Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.
- There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.
- Being selected as a consultant is not simply a reward for being a die-hard fan. Consultants are contractors who are paid and have certain responsibilities.
- Consultants have varying experience (e.g. Killers they've mastered), preferences, playstyles, and skill levels.
About the consultants role & responsibilities:
- Consultants must participate in closed playtests. Inactive consultants would be removed from the program and replaced with someone who is able to participate.
- It is a consultant's duty to give feedback on upcoming changes that are presented to them.
- Consultant feedback is used to help make informed decisions, but it is not the sole deciding factor. We need to keep in mind that consultants are highly experienced players and that their impressions may not always align with the wider community (though they often do).
- Consultants do not come up with balance changes and are not responsible for how things turn out. It falls on us to decide what needs to be acted upon. (Please do not harass consultants if there is a change you do not like.)
- Consultants are not QA - it is not their responsibility to test the game and find bugs.
Qualities we look for in consultants (among other traits):
- Trustworthy, as they are given information early
- A wide range of experience within the game (and ideally experts in certain areas)
- Able to provide constructive feedback
- Able to maintain a civil discussion with people who have differing opinions
- Able to set aside biases when giving feedback or acknowledge that their biases may be influencing their opinions
Most importantly, none of this means that your feedback doesn't matter. This program helps us gather feedback for changes early on in development and make adjustments before they are revealed. Once they hit the PTB, feedback from the wider community is just as important.
So glad this is being explained. I truly believe this does not devalue fog whispers and the community's feedback when we are given our turn to play test on the ptb. That's why we have this forum to begin with.
-
Feel like last year, it was easy to get cakes on survivor. Especially when u get so many bloodpoints in 1 match. I still have over 1k cakes on my gabriel, but that's because I actually did p100 in one go during anniversary (never doing that again).

Personally I don't use the S tech. If I see a trap, ill crouch to it, turn around, then run backwards while my camera is still facing the triggered trap. Personally this S tech is less reliable than my method because if they do the S tech, there is still a slight delay for the character to turn 180 and run backwards because the camera shifted their position instantly. And if you have the add on that decrease the trigger range, it will not be enough for the S tech to avoid a hit if the Hag immediately teleport to it (I've seen videos of it).

I give you some reasons:
- Female survivors are generally smaller and easier to hide.
- Female survivors are cute (mostly).
- Most male survivors are just not interesting or are neglected from the start (Gabriel, Adam, Jonah, Jake). Those who have the potential are not mainstream enough or suffer from poor sylisic choices (Jeff, Ace, Vittorio, Dwight).
Haddie was called ugly during the PTB, because she was not cute and thin or had big assets like Jane.
I wanna know how this community will treat aestri. Cause I haven't seen many polarizing opinions on her since she literally uses male animations and is tall like the male characters. Because if she's still liked then this must go further than just body proportions which would be concerning

I could go into a whole separate discussion about why I find Gabriel so disappointing (and believe me, I don't think anyone is more disappointed in me saying this than myself since science fiction is probably my second favorite genre, right behind fantasy), but in short, it boils down to:
- His base backstory doing very little to build him up (which isn't entirely on him, since they needed to establish his time period). It establishes that he's a clone, but proceeds to do NOTHING with that.
- His archive had so much potential to be a great story as he realizes that his memories just don't line up with what reality tells him and starts questioning his existence. There was real potential for a deep dive into what really makes us human. Does Gabriel being a clone with fabricated memories make him any less human? I don't think so, but what perspective does he take? We'll never know, because once he obtains his medical records and starts piecing things together, instead of RESOLVING THE CONFLICT, they decide to give us a flashback to one of his fake memories with his "mother"… AND THEN THE ARCHIVE ENDS!!! Instead of finishing the story and showing us how he ultimately processes everything, they waste space with visual memories that add NOTHING to the story and leave the main conflict of it unresolved.
Maybe I was a little harsh in saying he's worse than the Lyras, but I'm also of the opinion that characters with WASTED potential are worse than characters with NO potential at all. The blueprint for a great character was there, but they decided to completely screw it up instead. THAT is why I dislike him.
Oh. Well. I hate to break it you, but it seems you really had high expectations for this archive which I understand. However, you have to realize, EVERY OG character are deliberately, by dbd standards, to be a flawed character that goes into the realm with unresolved issues. And I believe they do it on purpose lorewise. You have to accept that these are flawed characters but appreciate whatever development they do go through as they enter the fog. And I believe they did it well with gabriel and singularity.
Now if they start making tomes that explores their time and development and learning the truth while in the realm, then we can really start having a conversation on how these characters can be fully fleshed out. However I believe that will never happen tho because of how trials work etc. The only alternative to more lore and more about their character is if they do a 2nd tome like david or through cosmetics which only gives very small details about them.

Well, it would be awesome if that could cease. I'm sure it would be very welcomes by the community and a positive change for the game.
If not, could we get a reason as to why? Otherwise we simply have to go with whatever our heads come up with.
And then later it will gain traction and someone from BHVR will come in and finally make a statement.
Rather just skip to the reasoning, plz. Ty!
It's just one week. Well, next week other maps will be boosted, but you'll be fine. This is just for the pre masquerade event. And if you want, use your own map offering if you're tired of rpd

Look, I love Renato. I called him my spirit animal just from seeing his lobby animations, before I even read his backstory and found him so incredibly relatable that it was honestly kind of scary. It's why I switched my profile picture to him from Oni (who had been my portrait for years due to a running joke with my high school Chemistry teacher) and why he's in serious contention for being my main once I (eventually) get around to P6'ing all Survivors.
But once I put all of my biases aside, the Lyra siblings are just… incredibly shallow characters. Thalita's characterization in the archive just kind of annoys me, Renato only gets a little development, and the archive in general is quite possibly the worst in the entire catalogue (not to mention how it mispronounces Renato's name EVEN THOUGH THALITA LITERALLY SAYS IT IN TWO VOICELINES! HOW DO YOU SCREW THAT UP?). They're better written than characters like Sable (probably the most shallow character in the roster) and Gabriel (just pure wasted potential), but as a whole they just don't do anything. I genuinely don't have much to say about them because of how empty they are.
Their perks are also… kind of garbage. I'd argue Cut Loose is a tad underrated, but it's still low-B AT BEST. Friendly Competition is just Prove Thyself: Horrible Edition, the Teamwork perks are in contention for the worst perks in the game, Blood Rush is the ONLY perk in the game that has NO EFFECT WITHOUT ANOTHER PERK (seeing as it can only be used while Exhausted and is completely pointless to use with any of the add-ons that cause it), and Background Player is fun to use but painful to go against (pre-rework, I haven't seen how it is on the D&D PTB).
Overall, while I will always consider Renato one of my favorites, objectively speaking they just aren't that great.
Hey hey! Not on gabe. His lore is literally unique from the rest of the cast. References so many sci fi elements from other video games, even a really good book called a brave new world. Besides, both end transmission character share a similar circumstance they had to deal with in their lore and it does show their development in how they deal with it up to the point at being taken.
-
Well we did managed to get the recent chucky 110 killer which is honestly needed based on his dashing power. But yea. I wish they did make more killers like that. And even give them add ons like Hag where it increases their base speed but sacrifices something.
-
I personally see thalita and Renato on an average basis. Of course not more so than Sable, Feng, mikaela, nea, Kate, Meg. All of which are basically the golden children of bhvr. So you can kind of understand why you see them more since they are always given skins.
Youll start seeing more of thalita and Renato if bhvr decides, whenever that is, to give them more skins. There is no reason for ppl to choose them over the same top survivors who constantly get skins every week.

Listen. It sucks. I know. Them not doing anything about it. No form of punishment. Then I think to myself, I might as well join in and do the same as well. Now I won't advise you to be a bad sport on this forum. Never! But I'm just saying after many times of being treated like that, I might as well do it too for funsies! But why do you think ppl continue to buy these female skins. Because they keep making them more than their counterpart through rifts, discounts like these, etc. They can definitely make good skins for male survivors. They choose not to because they rather take the easy route.
But personally I really have started to not care recently. Because it really saves money for me to not buy skins in this game and spend it on other things. So bhvr and I kinda wins in a way.

Not all SM are the same, if I get survivors that D/C I take out the bots and the ones that decided to stay and play the game get rewarded, we farm and they escape, a lot of the times I let all survivors go when I play her anyways, I like showing that not all SM are mean and sore winners we have personality and feelings too.
Then u are that lucky 10% of SM that I've yet to encounter. Cause the ones I get, will do the opposite and hunt down the players 1st then go for the bot last. Even slug for the 4k. If I could give you a gift, I would honestly.

Meh. Community design contest is pretty boring and predictable tbh. I swear it's the same type of survivors that win. Only female survivors. Wouldn't be surprised if Sable wins if they choose the winner
-
I sure will. Especially with dh when i sabo right in their face.

No regress please. Like some ppl like to go for that close 25% gate open, hide then continue the gate when the killer leaves. It at least gives the last survivor a chance when the hatch is closed by the killer. And dont get me started on No Way Out. If a killer has that, your chances to escape via exit gate as the last survivor is basically near 0%.

As much as I love gabe, they have no plans I'm sure to make it unlinked, and we even tried to let them know. But, business is business. And money talks. So Feng can get away with it and even other survivors of recent like Yun jin who has some clippings on her recent skins. But it's definitely not good like you mentioned with Feng. New skins clips with all of her default shirts

There is definitely a new invocation perk coming. Even in the recent patch, they made sure to buff it before this next chapter. And they even hinted how the base time invocation will be a standard for future invocations as well.

I'm still surprised ppl still call it rank reset for almost 2 years now. It's not called rank anymore, they are grades, which has no effect in your placements with other ppl. That's MMR. And even then, the system will place you with anyone as a last resort to prevent waiting too long for a lobby.
-
I believe its bannable, but only if the killer player has gotten multiple reports with video evidence. This is a case where a single offense wont really do anything, but ive seen some infamous killer players that have done unsportsmanlike actions like that get temp banned by doing this multiple times. Guess all those reports added up.
-
Yea ......kinda gave up on that. Its been like over 7 months since they said anything about it. Even the perks being shown in the lobby on the right, some ppl still have it and others dont. You'd think they wouldve already decided on what to do, but you know....bhvr.
