I use the same method (Switch Docked, Ethernet used). I feel like the input is slightly delayed (skill checks, interacting with items). Maybe it's just me. I appreciate you all giving your own points of view on this matter.

Do you have like a game mode setting option on your tv? Thats been a problem for me in the past. When its off, inputs are delayed, but when i turn it on, there is no delay at all anymore. And this has definitely helped me when it comes to looping as a survivor

  • Me too as well. I set my fsr to 100% and docked. Also, i definitely recommend other switch players to play on ethernet cord as well. It literally helped so much with my connection when i used to do just wifi.

  • The way I'm just hoping for a shirtless gabriel. But unique recolor shirts of these.....I'm up for it too!

And now a Patch dropped and its Monday. Can we stop with the "usually"-stuff? When nothing is announced, nothing should be expected, even on the "usual" dates.

No no. I think I'm still gonna keep saying "usually" since the term I used it in didn't mean it was a guaranteed 100% that it would happen. And this patch was that case which is very rare.

Besides, you shouldn't let something like this concern you. We all just use patterns to estimate not fully predict the exact date. If I'm wrong, then it's wrong. If I'm right then I'm right. Not fighting for a reward or anything here

Are we only allowed to have one bug fix every 2 weeks? Why are you guys so limited about it? I don't understand this argument.

Why is not having a concussion when playing a game suppose to be our standard? Should we get no more bug fixes now that this is fixed?

Why can't I express my disappointment about the slow progress of bug fixing just because one thing got fixed? I added my acknowledgment of the strobing fix only because I knew some people could say "but they fixed this thing!" and that's it.

The discussion isn't about if strobing should've been fixed or not at all. I don't know why y'all are twisting it this hard.

I believe someone mentioned it already here. But keep in mind these devs are still people with lives of their own, and its alot of work and time scheduling for these patches to release for ALL platforms. My assumption is that they had to postpone the hotfix patch 1 last week in order to fix the health hazard with a 7.7.0a patch which im sure they had to hurry to get approval for other console platforms to get it which takes time to get approved anyways.

I understand ppl are disappointed and can express that but at the end of the day its gonna take time. And usually im with you on expressing my disappointment when I see bugs and they take too long to do anything. But im giving them an exception here because yea. I rather rubberband and have some bugs in my games if it meant that they focused on prioritizing fixng a health hazard and prevent seizures to their customers. I can be a lil more patient.

  • @Halloulle said:

Just a reminder: bhvr basically switched the game engine with the update. Yes, it's still Unreal Engine - but it's no longer UE4 but UE5 - which is, in many ways, a very different beast.

Add to that an issue that has exceptionally high priority and another release schedule and you have a lot of work to do. You can't just tell the team to just do 95hrs/week for a month to get stuff fixed asap. That's neither how humans, nor how work and overtime related laws work.

Yea. I didnt go in expecting less bugs from the update to UE5. I expected more bugs because of it. But i understand its going to come with more bugs and more work to be able to at least minimize these bugs with hotfixes. Its just unfortunate that the community is getting more impatient when bhvr prioritized fixing a health hazard over bugs.

  • Now they already made it clear they wanted to prioritize fixing the strobes of light over the bugs which you just have to try to understand. We obviously would've had a hotfix days ago and have the new modifier mode earlier, but I'd rather them focus on preventing ppl from possibly getting seizures from their game than fixing bugs which would hurt them more in the long run. I'm confident we will have a hotfix in a few days tho. And possibly even another on the week of ptb.

  • Good luck with convincing killers to go with that. Cause even they complain already about survivors that hide. Especially with distortion. And given that aura reading would be limited in this if it were to ever happen, killers would complain more about their precious aura reading perks.

Personally i hold onto, if it aint broke, dont fix it. And the only thing broken here are these bugs and rubberbanding that they should be more focused on right now.

  • @Unam said:

Its funny, if killers play a specific way that ppl dont like the solution is punishment and making it harder.
(e.g. tunneling, camping, slugging, etc.) Punish them, make it not worth, etc. pp….

But if survivors play in a way, that ppl dont like the solution is "oh just let them, make it easier, they have a reason for it, you need to have understanding for their situation/feelings" like yeah, sure…

This community is so broken xD

I don't blame them with that mindset. Keep in mind a killer has the power to determine the flow and the feeling of the match depending on any tactic they do. Regardless if it's tunneling, camping etc which ruins the experience for 4 ppl in the lobby just to make 1 person feel good in the game. But of course, always play like you want. Also, majority of ppl play survivor anyways so you'll hear their complaints more often

I do generally think that complaints about Distortion are overblown, but there is something to be said about lone wolf survivors who hide all game at the expense of their teammates.

While it should still be a 'viable tactic', like all of these things it shouldn't be too strong with no risk, and Distortion can make it too reliable.

So I'd be down for changing the recharge condition to 'in chase' rather than just 'in the killers terror radius', so that as a survivor you're compensated for killer engagement one moment, with stealth afterwards, providing some risk-reward management and basically functioning as a loose anti-tunnel perk rather than just an 'anti-gameplay' perk. If that results in a too significantly lower recharge rate then up it to 4 tokens.

And i do generally believe that the complaints of distortion players are overblown. Just because a survivor is able to stealth while contributing to gens and even saving others without getting detected by killer does not mean they are doing nothing "all match."

  • @Venusa said:

    I don't see a problem with Distortion.

Chase perks like dead hard and mft got nerfed into ground and chases last much shorter now also thanks to how small most maps are after their reworks with goofy ass unsafe pallets.

So now survivors are like "okay then I'll hide instead" and this time killers are going "NO YOU CAN'T. I DON'T WANT YOUR PERKS TO CARRY YOU DURING CHASE BUT I DON'T WANT YOU TO HIDE EITHER!". At some point killers need to pick a struggle.

There are so many killer perks that give you aura reading for free and it's always a gamble when a survivor brings Distortion. They might just waste a perk slot.

I don't understand the obsession with nerfing anything that could be useful to survivors into the ground. Survivors don't have many strong perks left anyways and the leftover meta are perks that came out years ago.

Maybe we should let survivors who prefer to hide and stealth enjoy the game a bit because they're also needed for this game to function.

I find it so weird that survivors are condemned for.....hiding when its needed. Like thats also part of the game as well.

  • Oh Father Vile. I have a tendency to tunnel and camp any of the top popular survivors who keeps getting new skins. But its not my fault! I cant help it. The devs love and favor them so much. So.......i give my love to them too! And thats how i show it.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I dont know how you come to the conclusion that new Patches only drop on Tuesday. This has not been the case for quite some time, we also had patches on Wednesday or even Thursday.

But as long as they did not announce anything, nobody should expect a patch. They usually only announce Patches shortly before they are deployed.

Well Wednesday and Thursday are special cases reserved for midchapters or chapter debuts ptb/live. But hotfixes are usually consistent to be the following Tuesdays afterwards. Usually 2 total hotfixes in-between chapters

  • The only buff I can see for visionary is taking out the cooldown or give it intensity aura reading depending on how far the generators are nearly done. That's it.

Other than that, there is a niche difference between the two perks that gives different playstyles. A visionary user may just want to get on the first gen they see quickly. And that person will be finished b4 a deja vu player going to the gen and doing it( in case if no one is interrupted of course).

  • Singularity main huh? Kinda wish he had buffs so maybe he gets more skins. Tragic

  • Now how you have a OTR profile and make this post? You gotta make it more believable!

  • I mean. People can deny and say this is an overeaction, but there is some truth to it. There is literally history and patterns going into this in order to maximize profits. And ppl in this forums use that same excuse to justify how they prioritize resources to certain characters over others.

But im so used to their business tactics ive completely gotten numb over it. Many other online video game companies do it anyways and we just let it happen.

I've come across a Twitter post that expands on this, and shows how there's been a lack of varierty in characters in recent rifts. Very good points made, and worth checking out, in my opinion:

    https://twitter.com/dvveet/status/1783921546408468948

David, Élodie, Jonah and Vittorio have not been included at all in the last 5 rifts !!

Not to mention that David has not been in a rift ever since he was revealed to be gay. Thankfully, his long store cosmetics drought seems to have finally ended, but he's still nowhere to be seen in rifts. Our first official LGBTQIA2S+ character.

Rifts especially are chances for you to give less popular characters skins, since there are many cosmetics in the rift, and a few cosmetics for unpopular characters should not affect Rift pass sales that much.

It's just so tragic to see this.

  • @Azulra said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/412093/stop-making-bad-survivors-bhvr

You need to understand that BHVR isn't the biggest company in the gaming industry, they're spreading out resources to work on more games than just simply DBD, there's way too many survivor characters for them to be making cosmetics for, and if they try to spend more resources into making new cosmetics then that would come to the cost of making worse gameplay updates which will result in more boring/stale content releases, more bugs taking even longer to fix, killswitches lasting longer, etc. Plus if they focus more on cosmetics than actual game content then they run the same backlash risk other game developers run into when they go on that route of the community getting upset with the lack of gameplay content in an already stale game. There's already plenty of people in the community begging for new major gameplay content and such so it's definitely a risk that they'd have.

That does not matter at all. They already told us they can work on new content, gameplay and design new skins at the same time. Which is why they have seperate teams working on their part. Nothing gets taken away from each other unless it is within the same department being worked on in the same team. Which we definitely see when certain killers are worked on over others or characters getting more skins over the others

  • I definitely have tried my best to hit this home for bhvr. However, they rarely listen to issues like these. Certain POC survivors are not given the same marketing effort in their release and don't have much at the start. Then they are sabotaged with sets as their first store skins or not given many skins right after over other popular survivors that pays the bills. Haddie was sabotaged with a set in her first store skin, given prime skins, and exclusive event skins. And the same happened with gabriel with his first set skin. And we asked to keep it unlinked when it was bugged yet they still fixed it. I could go on.

But I'm getting tired because at the end of the day, this is a company. And money is their main priority. Doesn't matter if lore suffers. Doesn't matter if certain survivors that dont "fit" or look conventially attractive or cute are overlooked. It's just tragic to see a minority group that looks like me get ignored in a video game of all things. But I'm used that anyways outside of this video game. Hopefully, it gets better.

  • Floods of rage? Well good for you. Now you can actually get value by actually earning it. Good choice.

I don't know, I hope we get some info from the Devs or Community Managers. I would appreciate some official info from them.

Knowing bhvr and this team, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't respond and don't release this skin until much later when other slice of life new skins are made. It's jonah. They literally do not care for him. But if it was Feng, Sable, Mikaela or other popular survivors, you'll see it released very quickly.

  • @xoreyna said:

What's crazy to me is that in the last year, Dwight, Nea, Mikaela and Yun-Jin have all gotten cosmetics in three of the five Rifts each.

Meanwhile, David's last Rift cosmetic was in Rift 11 and Elodie's was Rift 10. Rift 10 opened in January 2022 and Rift 11 opened in April 2022. It's been over two years since David and Elodie have appeared in a Rift.

Yup. I noticed that too. And they are so afraid to give newer characters recolors or even new skins in the rift that isn't their tome for some reason. The only newer OG characters that managed to be in following tomes that wasn't theirs was Tools of torment characters.

  • @Nazzzak said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3705745#Comment_3705745

Thing is, they did give lesser played characters more skins after the mass demand, and if they're falling back on the usual suspects then it's because people didn't buy the demanded skins. It would ultimately come down to the cosmetics department wanting to keep their jobs. If a company is spending time, money, and resources on something that's not turning profit then the employees (in this case, the cosmetic designers) will need to explain to their bosses why they should be paid for a job they're not doing well. At the end of the day, if Mikaela, Feng, and Nea are getting frequent cosmetics it's because they're profitable. We can argue that lesser known characters will be played more if they had better cosmetics but if that doesn't ring true on BHVRs end then we are out of luck

Yea. True on all that. But luckily for me. I don't have to buy much from this game since my main rarely gets much anyways. So in a way, it's nice that I can save money on other games.

  • @HolyDarky said:

I agree. I understand it that the developers want more cosmetics for characters that players play often than for characters that have a pickrate around 1% (makes more money). But it's sad when a character feels forgotten while other characters get every update a new cosmetic (or two rift-cosmetics in a row like Mikaela and Nea). I really hope the developers will change this, so every players can get at least something new and be happy.

What really surprise me is that Skull Merchant gets so many cosmetics(she gets regularly new storecosmetic, has a Bloodmoon-cosmetic, and now a unique riftcosmetic). I like her cosmetics and I'm happy about it but players don't play her that often (and many hate her). According to nightlight she is on position 24 (below Knight). Artist, on the other hand, is also eating good in terms of cosmetics even though she has a low pickrate around 1% - I don't complain since I am an Artist main and very happy about it. Maybe it is easier for the cosmeticteam to create cosmetics for them than for other killers like Twins or Singularity. But for survivors, this doesn't work.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3705738#Comment_3705738

My guess: If the developers give The Unknown a tome, they have to give it lore which would result in information so the Unknown would become less unknown but known for us. It could also be that The Unknown gets featred in the upcomming anniversary tome with a new skin and they don't want to feature it twice. Another guess: Maybe the cosmeticteam struggles with creating new cosmetics for the Unknown because it is difficult to create something good/unique. I love Unknown and agree with you that it has so much potential but maybe this is easier said than done in the eyes of the cosmeticteam?

It's also about how easy it is to make skins for a character. Bhvr have been slacking and relying on character's that's very easy to make skins for. Legion, trickster, SM I can immediately think of and not many play them. If your playrate is down and design is too complex like dredge or singularity on the killer side, good luck getting anything.

But Unknown honestly has so much potential for skins given its lore, but I doubt they will think outside the box. It's what they unfortunately cannot do when they have a deadline to meet

  • @Kaethela said:

Absolutely love that Sable and Unknown both got shafted in the rift. Sable gets a shop outfit and Unknown gets nothing at all. Meanwhile Nea gets two deep rifts in a row and Mikaela is in basically every single rift. I was looking forward to getting something cute for my new main in this, but no, gotta keep the Mikaela simps happy.

    Pretty good job.

Like I'm so serious. We fought so hard for other less played to get more recognition for new skins yet they are falling back on the same survivors. But at least I can save money tho.

  • I'm pretty sure they don't really care too much for connecting lore. This chapter easily could've been for Julian, her best friend. But considering that Julian is a male survivor and won't profit more so than a female survivor that's goth, im not surprised they went with it at the expense of the lore suffering.

We saw the signs as well. Just like mikaela during her debut, they were marketing products during sables release. For mikaela it was for an incense, for Sable it was for a mug she holds. All to maximize profit. And they have put a long hold on existing lore i personally enjoy that hasn't been touched for years like the pariah storyline which we only have 2 out of 5 currently in the game.

But overall don't expect them to really focus on lore at all. Even they don't know what to do in that front. Right now, it's all about releasing new content that has marketable investments.

  • It's perfect how it is now. And you have to earn it by being altruistic to get the full benefits. Which is pretty lore accurate to the character it comes from when it comes to protecting your teammates.

  • Listen. They heard the community's cry. Although they specifically said the buff wasn't to fix tunneling (in reality they support tunneling even if it's a playstyle btw), they know the community has been very vocal about how killers have been tunneling much more lately. It's good that it's back to 5 seconds since it can't be abused like it used to, being that conspicuous actions now disables it.

  • Probably not when it comes to tome lore. There are some questions i definitely would like to know in the world gabe lived in. But that would need a wnd tome which i doubt will ever happen. All that can be added onto their lore at this point are from their cosmetics which is pretty limited

  • @MaddieMage said:

I agree with all this except the fact that they kept all the adrenaline nerfs. That took a perk that you had to survive the entire match and make it to endgame to use, and made it almost pointless to want to run.

I agreed with it not working against Freddy’s power. I also agreed that getting the full heal and speed off hook was too strong. (Personally I felt like they should keep one of the two: Make it not heal off hook but give the endurance or make it heal but no endurance off hook) However the 5 second endurance to 3 seconds was not even asked for or needed.

A perk that you can only use in the last minutes of the game should have strength to it, and they took that from a too strong perk to a “meh why bother?” perk.

Well. If the team plans accordingly, they can still help you out for a quick escape. You keep the speed boost at least when they rescue you. So everyone needs to make sure to take hits for each other

  • I'm sorry you had to experience something like that. Some people in this community really go out of their way to do something like this over a video game. I go through it at times with just using no mither. Now unfortunately, I don't think the devs will do anything without video proof being sent. They really do stress over doing an ingame report then sending a ticket with video proof in order to fully analyze the situation. But I do wish you the best and hope you continue to use any perks in the game that fits your playstyle and that you like to use

  • It's honestly up to you. I don't recommend working with the survivor to find the other because you risk getting that survivor to get reported if they have video evidence. Not supposed to work with killer.

Also, there is usually a misconception about someone hiding. Just because you as a killer didn't see that survivor all game doesn't necessarily mean they did nothing the whole game. They probably did do a little of everything but they are good at stealth while doing it. Or they were just lucky to not be found. I get that a lot and dislike when killers and even fellow survivors say I did nothing when I was just so lucky to not be found and still contribute

  • Nobody has a huge issue with the design of her powers. Ppl blame their teammates more so than plague when it comes to getting her powers if she doesn't have add ons that give it to her without anyone cleansing.

  • The way I could never take this game seriously. Thank goodness. I at least know there is a person on the other side of the screen and aim to at least make it fun for other people. At times, I don't recieve that back, and that's fine. I just gg go next. Which is probably why I still enjoy this game while some people actually get burnt out pretty quickly.

  • Hh. Sweet memories. Even the old days during rank people would say the same thing. "No variability. Same perks!" Blah blah blah. Still haven't changed one bit.

That maybe goes for you but OP is right in terms of some people that are kept from rage quitting die to not anting depip will then do.

Those people will lose one more incentive to tough through an, in their eyes, suboptimal match.

Of course that isn't an "encouragement" but like I said one discouragement less. Just like the times when the DC penalties were off for whatever reason. Not on the same level obviously but probably still noticable.

I still don't see it. Regardless, the benefits outweigh the negatives. Especially for more casual players who may not even play that much. And it will be great for them to be able to reach iri 1 quicker in the long run.

What are they supposed to do? How is this on the devs and not the playerbase that has decided to just fight like a bunch of kids? How do they fix this, in your eyes? Reworking SM doesn't fix anything—her current design isn't the issue! Her current design is fine, it's just that nobody plays around her normally.

What are they supposed to do? That's not for me to decide. We have too many posts already on here about adjusting her powers. More so than any killer(with the exception of twins of course). Its up to the devs to listen to that feedback otherwise we will continue to see more posts about her like always, ppl giving up more easily, blah blah yada yada. Same thing over again.

  • Not losing pips will literally change nothing. Ppl will still dc as usual, yet we won't see an increase or a decrease because of it. Grades do not effect your mmr or who you get in the lobby. Ever since the banner and badges replaced the grade icon, I never look at my grade at all. I know ill eventually make it to Iri 1 just by playtime. And that's not going to change with no pip lost either. It'll only cause me to make it to Iri 1 faster.

Good point. The community has no reason to change their attitude though. Her power is already horrible to play against but with toxic people playing her on top of it? Yeah, that's only going to make matters worse.

The only short term solution I can see is a complete and utter rework of everything that makes this killer. A new name, new power, new lore, new visuals, new sound design and new animations. This is not going to happen though, so we're kind of stuck with a killer that so many of us hate.

And honestly. It is mostly the devs fault, not the community. They are the ones who are waiting too long to do anything. And when they do something, its still pretty bad. We already seen it with many other killer reworks. And the most recent wiith a negative feedback being twins if they dont change her from how powerful she is from ptb

  • We need data on how many p100s are out there . Lets see if they are brave enough to show that.

  • They dont penalize people who give up on hook because by the game's standard, using your unhook attempts is a luck mechanic, and the devs don't ban people for that. And letting go on 2nd hook, they dont ban because anyone can say they just left the room or had life issues to deal with outside of the game. So they dont ban ppl for it. Its too much to monitor for them so they dont do it. But if they want to leave the match, its there and its their decision and the only thing to penalize them.

That may be, but I don't think this fits the topic of discussion here. The thread is about SM being difficult to handle in Solo Queue, and I'm trying to prove that she can be beaten.

Whether or not she has to be changed due to fun, or lack of, seems to be a topic for another discussion.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3699167#Comment_3699167

Well, I can only share my own experience with ya, just as you can only share yours.

You have screenshots of two trials where survivors struggled against Skull Merchant's power, while I have screenshots of two trials where they didn't. I believe both are valid for our arguments.

From my understanding you don't consider our experiences as "average", but I don't think it invalidates them. The scenarios and situations we've seen with Skull Merchant are undeniably helpful to help us paint a proper picture of her current state in the game.

Otherwise, there is no way for us to progress this discussion any further.

Ok but this does fit the topic of discussion. You might be attempting to prove that she can be beaten thanks to a few lucky survivors on your squad that were willing to stay. However it still doesnt change the fact that the majority of the community do not like her because she isnt interactive or skillfull like the rest in the cast which leads to ppl giving up more likely in solo q. We wouldnt even be continuing to have this discussion many times on this forums, if she wasnt a problem for this community. Regardless, she will be dealt it in the future

  • @GeneralV said:

And here is another match, from earlier today:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LOC8YIFBBW29/image.png

All Solo as far as I am aware. I know I was.

Yes, I have been playing DBD since 2018, but that doesn't make me a master of the game. I make mistakes, sometimes my strategies fail. But as you can see, there were escapes on both trials I shared here.

Maybe the results will be different next time I see Skull Merchant, but I don't think we can dismiss it every time as me and other survivors just happening to have been playing DBD for a while. I think it shows Solo Queue can escape against Skull Merchant, as long as people do not give up.

For some players, SM might not be fun to go against, and that I can understand. But ever since her rework she no longer causes an actual problem for the game, as her original version did. It is no different than Legion.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3699057#Comment_3699057

In my opinion, there are worse killers in the game to go against. I don't mind this iteration of Skull Merchant that much.

I believe everyone can agree that she isnt a high tier killer like how sadako's previous iteration(she was still a low tier killer even tho her killrate was very high). But all you are showing is proving that the community values a killer that is fun to go against. Regardless how strong or weak they are. If the community believes she is unfun to go against even though she isnt even a strong killer, then the devs need to do something about that once again.

  • This can apply to survivors as well. I'm a gen jockey at heart and it does carry over to the survivor who I love to play as. Gabriel fits that. Whenever I want to be an altruistic and chase oriented player, I tend to switch it up to my 2nd main, david. I believe this phenomenon definitely happens more on survivor side than killer. Although survivors are just skins, players can express themselves even more as survivors based on their playstyle, cosmetics, actions towards their teammates including killers.

  • Everyone already knows they wont do prestige rewards because they wont be able to compensate from it like you said. Its just business and it definitely made them look bad by trying to play it off and make a horrible excuse.

And i dont know why we are trying to even persuade them either. They are gonna do what they wanna do with fomo and ppl are still gonna buy it regardless. It can be a limited time auric cell only with feng, mikaela, nea, meg, etc skins in the store. People will all of sudden forget their fomo tactics and still buy it.

  • But it would be a good idea honestly, but i doubt they would do it. Sam and Dean. Then castial and Bobby as legendary skins. And maybe even more unique perks that synergize based on Sam and deans relationship. Maybe even like teamwork perks. I don't know for killer tho. But they would make good money from it. However I see other franchises that's on their radar right now

I cannot disagree more, for obvious reasons. There would be lots of ill feelings if they did and more importantly, lots of unhappy customers too (including this one).

It's actually about 14 GB on my Switch (but I think it's 20 GB fully downloaded without a physical game card).

So long as it's not much bigger than that, I should be OK.

Even if its too much. You can always just get a micro sd card to help with that i believe.

After this, i will never buy anything with auric, just temporary or licenced. I will buy just using shards now. Total disrespect with players and preferences about some characters.

    Um. Ok.
