Whats so bad about her design that the massive hate is justified? And im talking about game mechanics.
Does she have AI that hunt you down like Knight? No.
Does she force you to mend over and over again while getting relatively easy injures? No.
Does she hit over loops that can leave little to no counterplay depending on map like Trickster? No.
Is she a walking accessibility issue like Spirit? No.
Does she deactivate most anti-tunnel perks and mechanics like Pyramid Head? No.
Does she overly punish you for minor mistakes? Yes and no, i think the deep wounds is overkill and the haste could be replaced with something more interesting and fun, but you need to trigger them 3 times, Wesker forces you to pick up and use limited items after each M2 or else having hindered and exposed, if its THAT big of a problem then why should he get a pass?
There are problems in her kit, i pointed it out in this thread, but i don't see why she gets so much hate while others arguably deserve it more, like Pyramid Heads who tunnel knowing most perks are disabled and teammates can't save for example.Just tell me why you think she is actually so much worse than anyone else gameplay wise.
Place power at loop, Survivor must leave and take a hit or die.
Punishes you for teammates errors.
Forces you into lose-lose scenarios.
Removes almost all skill expression as Survivor.
Still holds down 3-gens extremely well.
Has the most slapped together power of all time. 80% of people have no clue what it does and I can't blame them.
Exemplifies holding W and pre-running playstyle, resulting in drawn out matches.
Completely anecdotal, but every SM I've played against since her rework has been an absolutely toxic human being. I 100% believe she attracts the worst people in the community

No, it had more SURVIVOR players. During the dark times of 51-53% percent win rate, killers straight up left. Are you honestly telling me you don't remember the great killer exodus? I do, and I also remember the dozens upon dozens of survivors coming to the forums complaining about awful que times
Prove it.
Because I still sit in long queues just to have one of my teammates or myself tunneled out.

Freddys Traps can be disarmed by just intentionally running into them when its safe to do so, if he doesn't set them up and simply does it during the loop then just hold W to counter him completely, same with Hag, don't bother disabling them the normal way, just wait till she picks someone up and run through as many as you can, she can do nothing about it.
Skully also has to travel back to reset her drones, they don't come back on their own once you recalled them, and if you don't recall them you also don't get them back. so that argument is wrong too.
And Hags traps are INCREDIBLY potent during the chase, there are guides on YT that show how to play her aggressively, its definitely doable if not viable for everything except tournament play, im saying it as someone who mained her for a year, its just people naturally do it because they associate the word trap with defense of some kind, hell i even suggested to remove her ability set around hooks while giving her some buffs in the hopes people would realize that.
Oh and for the record, im not even the biggest fan of Skull Merchant, i just think she isn't that bad as many make her out to be, there are more annoying and unbalanced Killers in this game so i think the hate she gets is just disproportionate.
Unbalanced, yes. Worse design, no.

Hag does, if a survivor disarms her traps she instantly gets it back, so does Freddy and Demogorgon with his portals, Trapper also has technically no cooldown on getting his traps back either, so what are you talking about?
You claim she needs to be fundamentally changed, so please give us what needs to be changed and give some suggestions instead of just complaining and spreading misinformation using capslock as if it somehow makes you more right, its kinda childish.
Freddy's Traps can't be disarmed, Demo gets KI and has to reset.
Hag is the closest, but she's also a 110% web Killer, not SM. Likewise, the comment I responded to was specifically mentioning re-arming/resetting. Hag has to travel back as her Traps aren't good in chase and Trapper needs to as well.
Respectfully, I'm keeping it real. It's way too late here for me to make a decent suggestion post

About 1st point: it should not be a big deal, because good survivors will never brainlessly run into drone and therefore give her haste. So now you mostly get punished for your teammates being bad.
I personally won't advocate for change or not to change her, since i like to play her from time to time, but don't really care about her, but nerfing B tier killer is strange idea. So yeah, with removing something from her kit, she definately should get something instead. Idea with shock is very interesting btw!
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3683435#Comment_3683435
Nah, not really. Most people are just not honest even with themselves and hate to leave comfort zone. And believe me, no matter what new rework she will get, if she remains at least somewhat viable in terms of strength, people will hate her with the same force. The only way to satisfy her haters is to make her F tier killer.
She needs to be fundamentally changed.
Her current design isn't good nor does it properly tap into the potential of the Killer.

I got called incompetent and having an inability to think, as well as a selfish and toxic butthole on a Youtube vid cause I argued that people who AFK against a SM have entitlement issues, simply cause they are getting upset someone played a Killer they dont like.
I'll also add all I said in my initial comment was that I liked the new Blood Moon cosmetic, played a game, and steam rolled cause someone AFKd the moment they saw who I was playing.
For me personally, I'd just rather not waste my time.
It's one thing when someone hates a Killer for some dumb reason. Like, I kinda really hate Trapper but I'm not gonna give up against him.
It's another thing when the ENTIRE community (besides the avid SM fan club) despises the Killer.
Where theres smoke, there's usually fire.

Meh.
Not gonna blame people for going next
-
There should be a middle ground.
It did get tiring to play very competitively all the time, but I was enjoying being challenged. I don't recall losing a lot, but I thought the players were very good.
Now? I don't ever see good players and I haven't lost a game that I was trying in since October. It's boring and breeds stagnation.

@Sandt1985 said:
The game has been overwhelmingly survivor sided for 90% of the games life span. For the very first time ever, killers are getting favored, at long last, and survivors are up in arms daily. This is despite the fact that survivors have gotten several buffs and quality of life changes in the past 1.5 years. (Anti face camp, basekit BT, speed boost after being unhooked, the new gen regression rework to prevent three gens, nerfs to gen regression perks across the board, a way for all survivors to see when another survivor is in chase, showing all survivors what specific action another survivor is doing at all times, STBFL was nerfed, mangled is being gutted)
I'm really starting to think that most survivors players want there to be a 50% kill rate at most. (For those unfamiliar with game design, a 50% kill rate in a game where theres a power role vs a group role would be a complete and total disaster)
The game had more players when the KR was closer to 50%.
60% feels terrible. 50% would've been fine if Solo Q and SWF were close. Instead, you had Solo Q escaping 45% of the time and SWF 60%.
Also, this victim mindset is toxic af.

I mean, if you want to argue that 4ks are more common for you, sure go ahead. The point I was trying to make was that the people talking about how easy Killer experience was tend to leave out a lot of details about said Killer experience. This makes me question if they've played many games of Killer to come to their opinion or they played two matches, got 4k and came to the conclusion that Killer was easy.
They'd need more experience but generally I agree with that sentiment.
Killer is absolutely easy at the moment

Blight and Nurse are broken in public lobbies with builds that those doing stupid 'win streaks' use and playing in the scummiest sweaty way possible. Also players with more than 5k hours in game if I am no mistaken, so not your average weekend Andy.
If you lose continuously as killer then something is wrong for sure as the average survivor ranges somewhat competent to completely unskilled and no functional brain. That is why the game has to always lean towards being survivor sided, even thought at present is it probably the least survivor sided it has been.
My opinion of course, I don't claim to be an authority on all things DBD
So despite the fact that most Killers are winning almost all of their matches, the game is...somehow still Survivor-sided.

By my standards, or rather by the standards of a ``really decent survivor,'' a survivor who abandons a match in the face of SM is definitely lacking in skill. Because she's a killer that's very very far from impossible to beat.
She's always been possible to beat.
She's tedious, unpleasant and usually played by the worst elements in the community. I don't really blame people for not putting in the effort to beat her.

It is an unfortunate fact, but survivors who commit suicide or commit DC in the face of SM cannot be called decent. If you use that as a standard, the average survivor is not a decent person.
We aren't talking about them being decent people, it's about their skill in-game.

It isn't though, survivors just had it so easy before they cry now when they have a more even playing field. The game is still survivor sided but the reality is most of the player base are unskilled casuals and it is good that is the case otherwise killers would never win.
2000 4K's on Blight.
1.2K on Nurse.
Over 400 on ######### Clown!
At some point, the average Killer is going to have to accept that they are responsible for their own losses. The game isn't Survivor-sided. If you are good at Killer, any Killer, you will win the vast majority of your matches.
If you are good at a B+ tier Killer, and you get very good, you will beat everyone but the most skilled competitive teams.

This game is still survivor sided if you're team is decent and does Gens. After all it's 1vs4. Agains't average survivors it can be easy to win on killer but not agains't good teams. Even average survivors still should beat you if you restrict yourself on average killer and don't play close to optimally. Or maybe pc killers can win no matter what. Killer is really clunky on console.
But I agree tcm is better balanced survivors don't have so many chances they die instantly when you get them and it's 3vs4. I almost never lose on family if my team is decent. It's definetely more killer sided than dbd and why would not it be when killer has team instead being all alone. After playing tcm it's hard to play killer on dbd again. Family is so easy on tcm and pressure free.
I win still good amount of my games in victim too with my buddy. But ramdom victims often are worser than dbd so yeah it's good you don't have to rely on them like on dbd. But we often win because family plays unoptimally, example they play johnny and sissy instead hitch and cook.
On dbd I just escaped 3 times a row on soloQ because my teammatew knew somewhat what to do. We got sweaty killers P100 huntress for example and we destroyed her just by doing gens. Then beat even blight who tunneled.
There's a lot of contradictions.
Survivor is easy if you're team is decent.
Average Survivor it's easy to win on Killer.
Average Survivors should beat you on Killer?
Kill Rates show that the game is Killer-sided, literally by design. Now, I don't think that's good design at all; but it's meant to be that way.
-
Well, this is just silly.

Anyone who says they get 4Ks easily without much context probably aren't being very transparent.
They have a lot to say about the Survivor experience, enough that one can tell they know a fair bit about the role
But when it comes to talking about their Killer experience, it's usually one sentence and involves 4k, some variation of the word "easy", no meta perks used or using weak Killers.
At least try to be realistic and say 3k instead of 4k, anyone who's played Killer long enough knows that 3k is the more common experience than consecutive 4k
Disagree.
3K's aren't uncommon, but I've still found that 4K's are more common.

That would be awful. That would mean the killers on average win all of their matches. The middle ground between not winning and winning is 62.5%. The devs want it to be 60% which means winning roughly half their matches with an occasional extra loss in there. At the moment, a lot of killers are actually in the low to mid 50 percenttile on kills...way underperforming.
If I recall correctly, it's just Doctor, a free Killer, that is sitting at the bottom of the barrel. He still kills more than two Survivors per game, of course. I could only imagine the ######### storm that would occur if it was revealed a Killer had a 39% KR.
The game was more enjoyable when Kill Rates were closer to 50%. Since SWF and Solo are fairly close in Escape Rates now, I think it would be better to move more in that direction. Back when we had those KR's, SWF's were escaping up to 15% more, that is no longer the case.
-
@RpTheHotrod said:

Not according to their recent stats. A lot of killers are actually way underperforming the intended 60% kill rate (60% kill rate means winning slightly under half their matches, as it's almost in the middle of a 2k and a 3k. 62.5% is the true middle ground).
Look, let's cut to the chase.
We should balance around a 75% KR

Nice stalk. But this was just about three days of me playing DbD. I've also mentioned at the end of my post that I have days were I lose (Thus, Idc about winning or losing, the important part for me is the match itself not the result). And if you read other posts from players that play killer, they also confirm that they lose. In addtion, I've never said or suggest the game is fine as a PvP game (please, don't act like I've said something like this) - it's the opposite, you can find posts from me in which I want/agree about QoL changes for SoloQ because I play SoloQ too and know the issues (I don't play only killer). I'm also for nerfs for specific killers. Would be nice if you could count this too, especially I mentioned these things in earlier posts.
However, what I actually want to say with my post is that you - and other players - behave like killers are in general very easy to play and that the issue this game has lies in killers overall and not in other things. That's why I suggest you could play a little bit of killer to see the issues don't are killers in general but rather other things. Too say something is generally wrong but won't help in the long-term. Hope that's understandable for you
I think Killer is a lot easier than people say it is.
There are some very complex Killers, but most aren't really difficult.

I wouldn't say there's overpowered survivor perks. There's a difference between OP and Annoying perks, for both sides. I get that. Not spouting about much, I back up most feedback I get so I don't know why you would ask that. Any perk that gives you so much distance is so unnecessary, like Lithe. Balance landing is very good though. Blast-mine is just so annoying and pointless. I can go on.
Lithe and Balanced often give you the same distance. Sprint Burst is better than both of them.
Blast Mine is not a good perk and is completely inconsequential.
You literally cite "OP Survivor second chance perks". Don't backtrack now!
Plus, in this whole thread, you've been talking about how OP Survivor is, I can't speak for everyone but I'm waiting to see any evidence of that claim.

@Moman624 said:
I think you need to practice survivor more. I do agree, more perks could break the game, but again, for the killer, its a 4 vs 16 and for each survivor to have OP second chance perks its kinda annoying sometimes.
Can you even name some overpowered Survivor perks?
Can you back up anything you've been spouting with any statistics? We've gotten more stats since then and they've shown you to be wrong.
Do you have information that we don't?

Losing 3 gens in your first chase is also not fun. Maybe take care of that issue and killers wouldn't feel like they have to tunnel someone out early to have a chance.
We already know that isn't true.

Ok, i gotta ask, what constitutes a "win" in these win streaks. It seems like its different from person to person

SWF however is significantly more common than just Nurse or Blight. Yes most SWF aren’t anything like that, but I’d argue a decently good average killer streak compared to a decently good swf group is way, way less of a difference than the two we’re looking at here, which is my point.
Also, the only way you get streaks like that with most killers is through aggressive tunneling/camping. Playing “normally” would significantly reduce those streaks. I don’t care much about tunneling/camping matches as they aren’t representative of game balance and heavily dilute the gauge of that players skill level. This is why I’d like that type of play significantly hindered/removed.
I would as well, but that's the way it goes and it does reflect the state of the game.
The average player does tunnel or proxy fairly regularly, so I think the difference is probably still pretty wide
-
@Blueberry said:
People seem to be comparing this like a killer vs survivor streak when it’s not and that’s a bit disingenuous. This is a Nurse/Blight vs survivor streak, which is completely different. The streaks would be significantly more comparable if it was the average killer on the roster, not the S++ ones. Nurse and Blight are playing a completely different game. People are trying to use this as a killers in general are too strong from this when that’s not what’s being shown.
Supposedly, SWF is also playing a different game.
If you were talking about Solo vs Nurse/Blight, I'd say sure, that makes sense. It's silly to compare the weakest role to the strongest.
However, even comp SWF's stacking busted stuff don't get ANYWHERE near that.
Even Clown has a higher winstreak than the best SWF.

Yeah, a Streak of Comp-players against Comp-players would be way more impressive. Sure you would not get such high numbers, but I think if someone has something like a 20 win streak against comp Survivors, this would already be really impressive.
Funnily enough, ScottJund said the same in his video about the topic. That a streak like this in public games is like Michael Jordan winning against some middle school kids.
In the end, my empathy towards the Blight-player is also quite limited. They played super-sweaty for almost 2k games, this is the game ruined for 8k Survivors right from the start. Then they should not get upset when they face a comp-team who does exactly the same to them.
To be fair, he's like my age and I would also be absolutely malding over losing that sort of streak.
He did have a couple opportunities to win, but ultimately he simply underestimated them.
He got complacent and too assured of himself.
-
Legitimately?

If you're Solo, a lot of it is down to your teammates

It allows for too much trolling, I think. I don't like perks that encourage that. Ie, Boil Over.I'm curious how you see it as trolling, though maybe we have different definitions of trolling.
With boil over / sabo and/or right map the survivors can just stick the killer in an unwinnable position. Survivors never have to advance their objective because the killer can't really advance theirs. Wicked means a team can focus all on gens and never even worry about unhooks because everyone just makes sure to go down in the basement.
That seems incredibly powerful, perhaps too powerful, but the killer is still getting hook states and those free unhooks are going to run out quickly.
Going to basement with Boil Over, Wicked, Flip Flop and that whole thing.
The Killer can't make a hook outside of basement.

SiS might go back to 60% or even down to 50% being able to get a regular speed heal solo with botany is kinda busted and we're just back to CoH again. This somehow happened the same time as a Mangled nerf lol, Wraith is crying in a corner rn.
Wicked idk it's strong but I don't think it's actually that busted, Breakdown gives you the aura read for 6 seconds but also breaks the hook for 3 minutes. Wicked's primary effect only happens on 4 specific hooks that the killer can just choose not to hook you there just like they can choose to not walk through pallets on the way to a hook cuz of power struggle. Maybe you can cut the aura read to 12 seconds but I don't think that's super necessary.
Not that it's too strong, that it's unhealthy.

The basement unhook is nice I've gotten to use that more than I expected but the aura read is the real reason I love this perk so much. Being able to know if the killer is coming back to hook has saved me from so many potential tunnels it's crazy. Even where they don't, knowing where the killer is for that long just feels very impactful.
I imagine that both will be nerfed.
Not sure what will happen to Wicked, but I doubt it stays that way for long and I do think it's unhealthy

You're totally right though, being able to get rid of weakened mid-chase and having like a 2-3 second window to hit them with a follow up feels really bad sometimes.
PS. You might have to start another 100 page long thread that ends up getting no dev response for more controller options ;)
Good times....
Well, all 4096 comments later and we didn't ever get that Optimization; so I'm not sure that another hundred page thread is a great idea.
