I personally find a lot of success on Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Wesker and Xeno but can't deny that they're for sure easier / better on PC than console.
If only they'd add more controller options after 8 years of the game being out... 🙃
I will say that I think Unknown is fine for Console, he just sucks in general.
He's just not very good, which is a shame.

I see billys moved out since the last lists ive seen. Thanks!
I think the curve adjustment and his general cooldowns have moved him out.
He's become less punishing but still just as difficult to learn
-
Realistically? Never.
There will always be people cheating. Although, the number is way lower now than it used to be.
-
I think it's easier to name the Killers that aren't as good as they are on PC.
Nurse
Hag
Huntress
Oni
Deathslinger
Pyramid Head
Blight
Nemesis
Wesker
Xeno
Chucky
Jury is out on Unknown. He seems alright so far.

So if you run 0 gen defence perks, and generators get repaired in 3-4 minutes, you played bad?
If you've been running them and a meta Killer and have carries yourself up to an MMR where Survivors can deal with it; then what do you expect will happen when you take it off?
That's the issue right now. A LOT of Killers got very used to Eruption COB and now can't do anything except stack slowdown because they got boosted to way outside their skill.
-
This perk is genuinely one of, if not the worst, perk ever released.
It's so inefficient it's insane.
-
He's alright.
The issue is that, save for add-on changes, you can't really buff him because they never really addressed his issues. They just kinda, idk, swept them out of the way and since they weren't bothering people anymore; they forgot about them.
Until he gets a real rework, he isn't ever going to be strong without being SM levels of hated.

Then report and move on? In cod lobbies there were so many people that said even worse vile stuff. This situation is the SpongeBob rollar coaster of insults
Maybe for you, someone relatively unaffected.
I kinda expected better from you, honestly.
Consider the people it DOES affect. I learned, painfully, that having a competition over suffering is a fool's race. What affects you may not affect another in the same way. It's why we have empathy.

He's been fine for me, granted I've been playing him on a broken controller, but he feels alright.

I’m sorry but BHVR shouldn’t bend the knee at all.
they should stick to there guns and keep the skins. This is a horror game after all who cares? I understand bullying and harassment but here’s my question.
why not just block the people? Or mute the endgame chat. If you get tunneled what if it wasn’t cause of trans people and because he was a killer who tunneled?
BHVR shouldn’t just remove the skin of a “unknown” skin Walker who wears peoples skin. That’s like removing the vomit from plague cause I hate vomit. Or removing the blood cause I hate gore. It’s a horror game cmon now
The actual post says they have transphobic slurs and ######### in their profiles and as their names.
It gets kinda obvious why people do it.

Well in current survivor meta where you're just allowed to pre drop W with windows + exhaustion and generous maps.... Not much a killer can do if they want a chance at winning.
Generous maps?
Are there so few left that played near the end of the dark times?

No worries it's never personal its just discussion. Its a gaming forum its not worth getting personal over.
I'll happily agree tutorials make things easier but how vital it is to the experience is up for debate. There is a disconnect between something being hard and something being miserable. Just because its hard doesn't make it miserable.
There is a tutorial already its mostly still the same as it always been... mostly. How helpful it is eh its got the base mechanics and some tips.
What the poster was asking for was survivor custom mode so they could wander the maps and learn the layout, well you can do that as killer and it isn't that different. Plus if able to load into custom games as survivor then its likely a bot killer is gonna be on your butt the whole game so its not like you have much license to wander around and look anyway.
If 3rd person view is needed (I don't know migraines or motion sickness being a legitimate reason for that I guess) there really isn't an option for you which does kinda suck. There are other options to help with those thigs though FOV slider, screen overlays so its not all on BHVR's head to attenuate that problem.
The ability to load into a custom as just a solo survivor, no killer, no team would be worth while but its not exactly vital to the game and probably a very low priority. So as I always said we work with the tools we have.
Best bet would be find a buddy to load into a custom game with you as killer and then wander the map together and learn the layouts. Bit of simple problem solving to work with the tools we have.
I completely accept that sometimes people don't want solutions they just want to complain. I find complaints work best when they lead to solutions.
As for the OP, the post defines what they see as "acceptable tunneling" and it covers a lot of what people describe as "tunneling". So one could argue that if you can rationalize "tunneling" acceptably and a lot of peoples experience of tunneling falls under that, then the furor surrounding it is largely overblown.
Being hard doesn't necessarily equate to being miserable, no. But having vital information withheld can make it feel like you're set-up to fail.
I think there's a difference. Do I understand why Killers tunnel? Yes, of course. Does that really matter in the moment and in my experience? No, not really. It can be completely rational to tunnel but it can still feel bad for the individual being removed from competition.

The game is specifically designed with no communication in mind. SWF being planned from the start was necessary, as evidenced by the lobby shopping that happened in the short time before its introduction in 1.0.3 kinda proved. If comms were intended, there would have at least been some consideration to adding comms to the game, either text/voice/both, but its always a stanch NO.
SWF was always intended to be in the game, but it was never the intended target for balancing the game. its a 1v1v1v1v1 after all apparently.
I think, at this point, the game probably couldn't handle a VC system.
-
Hmmmm.
I really don't know, both sets are unpleasant to play against.
Personally, I'd pick blocking. Blocking gets more value with regression and you rarely see it without it.
Seeing your gen get PR'd 4 times is extremely demoralizing.

Any survivors that whinge about tunneling, go and play killer yourself and try and get 10+ hooks 👍
As for being tunneled, preventing it and resisting it. What are you doing about it? Run anti tunneling perks such as OTR, ones that hide scartch marks, wear darker cosmetics to try and hide instead of bright neon clothing, break LOS, become a better looper or just plain and simply, stay away from the area the killer is playing in to avoid being caught again.
Been getting 10+ hooks for six years now. This is the easiest it's been for me. Take that as you will.

You thought about that really carefully.
Firstly dude check your ego, it has nothing to do with you. If someone comments with a questionable take I may give my take on it.
Secondly, even in light of your clarification my point hasn't changed. Playable tutorials while helpful aren't necessary for a game to be playable.
All the things you say here are true it makes thing easier, its more new player friendly and its ok for things to change I never said it any of these things aren't true or aren't valuable.
As far as I can see you took the single line of dialogue "we used to have no tutorials and got along fine" without really reading any of the preface that lead up to it and then just ran with that as a whole topic.
Tell me are you a read the headline and react person or did you read the whole thing and formulate an opinion?
Because all the points you raise here are fine but none are really relevant to what was being discussed and then you heap on the accessibility options as a weakly associated side note and what we have is a reaction based on the headline and not the content.
In the words or Ricky Gervais "you should have left it" but it turned into a interesting little sideshow and has come full circle so lets not hijack this thread any longer.
To keep it on topic, in response just to the title in this case as I've already previously discussed the topic here, I do believe "tunneling" to be bit overblown.
We've certainly had our vehement disagreements, it would not be unreasonable for you to assume things in a negative manner. My apologies if that isn't the case, even subconsciously.
From the perspective of someone who has been playing for a significant amount of time? Perhaps that's true. For a brand-new player? I think a tutorial is vital to their experience; people don't have unlimited time, as I'm sure you know. It is difficult to dedicate hundreds of hours to learning DBD when the game can be very miserable when you don't understand it. Perhaps you should ask some newer players for their opinions; I hardly think either of us are particularly qualified in that regard lol.
I think it greatly depends on what you mean by overblown, which I can't recall if the OP ever defined.

Again, regardless of whether they utilize their advantage properly, they still have one. Most SWFs aren't an issue but they still have access to something the game was not designed for, voice comms. BP is something that has no impact on gameplay nor balance and would be simply a bonus for going up against such an advantage (Therefore making it a good compensation metric, rather than something gameplay/balance related) Their suggestion also said to give a bonus to solos paired with a SWF a bonus as well, which I also agree with.
Pretty sure SWF was intended from the beginning.
Iirc, they were working on both KYF and SWF but could only get one done prior to launch. People voted and KYF won, but both were in development and intended to be in the game.

That doesn't make it any less of a weak point to make.
I mean if they just made the "back in my day" quip implying I was some old fogey that would have been both apt and funny.
But to try and draw attention to accessibility in some kind of weak veneer of benevolence unrelated to the topic at hand was just on the nose.
But I suspected it wasn't genuine and it afforded an opportunity to pull some disingenuousness out of the bag. That made for some interesting and entertaining discussion, which was the topic at hand and why we are here.
It played out in a manner that I'm satisfied with and we've strayed far enough from the thread topic I have no wish to hijack it further.
"Villainy wears many masks, none so dangerous as the mask of virtue" - Sleepy Hollow.
To be honest, I think you're just used to me attacking what you say and read too much into it, which you know, fair enough.
I'll tell you full-stop what I meant and what I wanted you to get from it. Perhaps that will clear up this misunderstanding.
Think about what your words can be understood as and be careful choosing them; this argument sounds too close to what people said in regards to accessibility. Just because things were one way does not mean they should stay that way, things are allowed to be easier. The game has changed so much from when you or I began playing; there's so much to learn and so much to do, it can be overwhelming. A better tutorial would serve newer players well, if you can think of an argument that doesn't sound like you want people to suffer just for the sake of it, please say it.
That's about what I wanted you to get.

A 1-minute chase can already lose you the game though. You have to pick up, walk to hook, look for gens with progress. By that time a minimum of 2 should pop, third gen with progress you just interrupted.
Not if you have the aforementioned perks. PR will stop one, you'll stop and kick another with Pop and Deadlock will further block more.
Also, Grim exists.
Like I said, even id you're chase is terrible it doesn't matter if you run gen slowdown.

Plague and legion exist lmao being 'Forced to be injured' is a very common part of certain killer powers. Merchant actually has more counterplay than these 2 with plague only needing a few vomit projectiles and legion only needed essentially a free hit if he's any good
Plague at least has something else going there. She does get an extremely oppressive chase power, but it's extremely limited.
I dunno if I'd be citing Legion as a pinnacle of design to emulate.

The game is still in the Killers favor, even when there is a 4-man, which is rare.
-
Lot to unpack here.
Gonna hazard a guess and say this is gonna be one of those where it devolves into some people making good points and others saying, "Clearly a X main"
Show SWF after the match. No more lobby, hide names during the game as well.

She's definitely not the most fun but how is she any worse than knight or artist? Her power get her a free injure and a potentially easier second down alongside some info. You can play around her power at loops more so than a knight or artist.
Reworking her again would honestly be a waste off time and take away from killers like freddy who need it more
Because that's her only playstyle.
There are fun ways to play Knight and Artist. Well, more fun in Knight's case. You can play Sniper Knight with CTA and you can go for cross maps with Artist. There are alternatives.
Not so much with SM. Place power at area, Survivors must leave area or die. Take hit, hold W.
Also, this is nothing about you, but almost every SM I've played against has been horrifically toxic. The Killer seems to attract the WORST elements.

None of which is relevant to the topic and used to frame my point as being outdated and inconsiderate of accessibility options which is completely unrelated.
It’s an attempt to undermine the topic indirectly by creating a negative association. A very common but rather weak tactic when called out. As you have been called out here.
Actually if you had just said the “in my day” quip that would have been direct, apt and kinda funny, but your attempt to tie it to accessibility options painting the jibe in some kind of benevolent veneer and the subsequent backpedal on your intent is a great example of disingenuousness.
You’ve tried to use special needs as a weapon to shut down unrelated discussion in complete disregard for those special needs, which only demonstrates your own disregard for them. It’s a lil ironic and rather disingenuous.
So by some comedic irony this lil segue has provided a great example of the topic at hand, disingenuous sentiment.
I do enjoy good comic irony. I guess I should just put a bow on this one and say thanks.
My man literally took a single sentence, wrote multiple essays about it, took it completely the wrong way and infers that I hate people with disabilities.
The only person I hate who has disabilities is myself and I will not take the accusation that I hate disabled people lightly; especially not after all the arguments I had fighting FOR accessibility in this game.
-
If people wanna play the most miserable Killer ever released, then they are free to do so.
If other people in the match would rather find something slightly more enjoyable; they are free to do so.
She's so poorly designed that it's painful. Hopefully after Twins, they'll give her a proper rework, new power and everything.

Oh god, no that is very different.
Are you really equating systems in place to allow people with an inability to play something due to unchangeable physical limitation to those whom are simply unwilling to learn something they are completely capable of learning simply because there isn't a tutorial.
Those are two very different things.
To equate them in any way is to insult people who genuinely need those tools. Mindfulness sometimes backfires when thoughtlessly used as a weapon in an unrelated discussion.
To the quoted response at hand, which is my being "disingenuous" by offering up options for someone to learn map layout within the current tools available.
I'm guessing that the person in question doesn't really know what disingenuous means. Which is evident from their reply.
So I stand by my point that its possible to learn map layout playing killer in custom games and its the only option at the moment. So if they want to learn map layout then play some killer in custom games. If they need a 3rd person view then Chucky is currently the only option for them. If they don't want to buy chucky then yeah that sucks but its what they have to work with... a point that is simply pragmatic and in no way disingenuous.
As evidenced in the reply below. I didn't saying anything about skill all I did was point out the tools currently available to do what they wanted which was learn map layout.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3671817#Comment_3671817
If the point is that "there is no excuse for there to be no custom game mode to practice as survivor" then well.... Tutorials are a convenience not a necessity.
I said that it sounds very similar, not that it was the same thing.
"Back in my day, we didn't have any of these things; get used to it and stop whining."

I'd much prefer they make tunnelling less efficient as well, but given that it takes so long to make microscopic changes to things it's unlikely to ever happen.
I get that it doesn't fix much, but a bare minimum 'match hook timer to gen speed' should've been done years ago to make both tunneling and camping less efficient. A 90 second hook state can't be weaponized either, but they haven't done that. (I get that hanging on hook isn't exactly gameplay either, but there's still a bigger problem at play here)
Given that the devs have spent a ton of effort in the past year or so to cut down on killers obsessing over literal furniture (hooked survivors and 3 gens) I feel like they are perfectly happy with tunneling in its current state; simply because the killer is actually chasing a survivor and not obsessing over props with no autonomy. The fact that it's the same survivor repeatedly doesn't even factor into it for them.
It's a shame some of my Killer brethren are so invested in kicking gens and staring at Survivors on hooks.

"God given birth right to tunnel"
That has got to be one of the Forum statements of all time.
-
DS is literally one of the only perks that you, as a Killer, directly control. If you don't tunnel, they don't proc it.
Likewise, DS is pitiful right now. It is not worth a slot and tunneling is at an all-time high. Personally, I don't want them to buff DS and band-aid fix tunneling AGAIN. I'd rather them adjust the base-game to completely kill off tunneling by making it inefficient.

It's a little goofy. Even the most stalwart defenders have to admit that much.
This is a serious outplay on a totally unsafe pallet and they get punished for it. That's just rough.
-
I think consistency is fine, TV's spawns could be better.
Just make the Lullaby bigger. The bigger the Lullaby, the less sure the Survivors are of your position.
Wellstone could go up to 10 seconds, it's a Yellow Add-on after all.
The passive rate on the Tapes would have to be very low, she can machine gun TP now. Maybe the Tapes could just dissolve after a certain amount of time? It'd prevent just holding a Tape and being immune.
1.5 is probably fine for Tape Insertion.

Either top of C or bottom of B tier, at least... Think about it, there is like a 200 something pages clown guide how to outplay basically every single tile in the game, it is kind of insane what you can do when you know how to.
I find the amount of pages ridiculous, but I can't deny that that is a thing not many killers can do.
I mean, that is true, but it's also true of Killers like Deathslinger. He's not bad, by any means, but he lacks map pressure in the highest degree.
