This is not true at all. I have a spreadsheet of my games because I'm a dweeb. It shows a depip, bit once you get to the main lobby you regain your pip.
There has been a known glitch on PS4 that they lose pips if someone DC's.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes.
Then you can get banned as well, because you admit you DC.

DS is anti tunnel, it's not a crutch anymore. If you feel like DS is a crutch then I suggest you don't tunnel.
Adrenaline, yeah it's a crutch but it's the opposite of NOED, survivors have to do their objective and survive until the objective is complete to get their Adrenaline, NOED rewards killers for failing to protect the generators, which is unbalanced. Why should killers be rewarded for failing?
So, I'm supposed to let the guy with DS unhook? Yeah, sure.

Yes, you just put a bit of hypocrisy in your comment.
You quoted "Aren't games supposed to be fun?", relying on a crutch that insta downs survivors (who are probably also wanting to have fun playing on their own) isn't fun.
You shouldn't have to run a crutch and ruin the other players' enjoyment and win to have fun.
I've lost to a good team before and still had fun.
In short, there's no fun in running NOED
Yes there is! It's called winning and getting salty messages.

Their game. They can do what they want. But also, the loading screen isn't the start of the game.
Also, why dodge moris? Well I just depipped after a game where I had two safe unhooks, 2 full heals, completed two gens, but I got mori'd. That's a joke and a big part of the reason I don't like playing against killers with moris.
There should be some account for add-ons and offerings in terms of pipping or de-pipping. And mori's and keys can really swing the game where at that point it should almost just be an unranked match. At the very least give out some blood point bonuses for both sides having to deal with playing with those.
Do you quit if there is a mori offering shown?
-
@malloymk said:
The game has not started though. That's just your nonsensical perception of things because it jives with your viewpoint.
The reality is until 5 players actually load into the game and are able to actually play the game, the game has not started.
Then why did Peanits JUST say that they will be banned for it?

I agree. Lobby dodging is a time waste as well. If you're not going to ban killers fot doing that, how can you justify banning survivors for DCing in the loading screen?
Because the game has started, do we punish Survivors for leaving lobbies too?

A notable chunk of killer players do seem to be people who want to feel super powerful and just ruin other peoples gameplay....
Just because they kill you doesn't mean they want you to have a bad time. I could say the same for Survivor players, but, it doesn't make it true now does it?

Match hasn't started yet though.
Yes, it has. It is loading the map and assets. The countdown phase in the lobby is before the match has started. If you quit after that, the game counts it as disconnecting.

There are ways to find out. Basically you follow the person and can check if they are online playing DBD. And certain players have certain pings consistently. I know people that can tell you with good accuracy who the killer is in the lobby. It's why a lot of people I know appear offline to avoid this.
So basically, you know X player is online playing DBD, you see a ping that resembles their usual ping, you see a secret offering, there is a high probability it's that person coming after you. And I've been in games with these survivors when they dashboard, most of the time they are right about who it is.
Also I'm willing to bet you ran into these players, you just don't know who they are. You might have even seen them get mori'd off hook and not thought anything about it, just the killer being a jerk. Before I became friends with the greater Xbox community I never thought twice about a dude getting tunnel'd off hook.
I'm afraid I'm a meh Survivor and stay around rank 5-7 consistently, so not sure if it happens there.

Oh trust me it happens. There are killers out there that will hold a massive grudge and hunt you down. I'm not saying EVERYONE will DC because of this reason, just that I know people that do it because they are targets.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/604653#Comment_604653
Getting hunted down is actually not that rare. At least on Xbox in high ranks. I've been hunted down myself. And while I have reported these players, DBD support will only take action if you have proof this person targeted you. In fact I could tell you the name of a specific player that will bring a mori if they see me and tunnel me off hook EVERY SINGLE TIME, but alas name and shame is not allowed. And when I reported this person I was told that because they went and killed other survivors after I died its not harassment. But if you were to watch multiple games against this killer you'd see they are in fact targeting me. They do it to some other players I know also. This guy has a bad rep in the Xbox community for doing this.
And on Xbox you can find out who the killer is about a minute into the game by looking at your recent players. You can also see the names of killers that dodged you about 10-15 minutes after the fact. So if they check their recent players and see a specific person they know they are online playing killer. If they see a mori they know it's probably that person.
I'm not defending everyone that DC's because of a mori. I'm only defending the people that do it to avoid targeted harassment, which the DBD support team tends to not do anything about unless the killer only kills that person and farms with everyone else or something.
I'm all for punishing DC'ers, but the devs also need to have better ways to track and ban people that target other players. Otherwise you are forcing some players to stay in games against someone that is out specifically to ruin their experience and/or waste their time with mori spams. It does happen a lot more than you think.
I've been at Rank 1 on Xbox and while there are certainly people I don't like, I've never heard of people specifically targeting others. Obviously, that's malicious in its intent to ruin their match and something should be done about it BUT, they really can't tell who the Killer is because recent players requires you to load into the match.
-
@malloymk said:
Why is it a penalty to DC on a loading screen? Game hasn't started. The person that DCs loses an offering. How is this any different than lobby dodging which is not punishable?
Makes the rest of the people load for 4 minutes and they QUIT a match that had started.

@Pulsar Other survivors not really making it feasible to leave makes sticking close not camping. Camping as a form of bait, waiting for the survivors to come for you: it's lazy, cowardly, and insecure. Acknowledging that the survivors are swarming the hook is another thing entirely.
If it works, it works. If there are 4 survivors left, the game is NOT in your favor. The faster you kill someone, the better your odds are of winning. Unless you're playing Nurse or maybe Spirit.
-
@ARealBIGCHUNGUS said:
Or you guys could...i don't know...give an actual penalty to killers for camping instead of taking away a pip...i kid you not, i was camped by a freddy post-rework, all 5 gens were done and everyone left as he was circling around
How about giving an incentive to not camp? He de pip'd, if he keeps it up then he will de rank and you won't have to play with him.

@thesuicidefox said:
I know people that dashboard when they see secret offerings (which is almost always a mori).
Thing is, there are players that specifically target and hunt down other players. They bring mori's every game they see them (sometimes even scumming lobbies to get them in their game), then mori spam them until they bleed out or DC. So I honestly don't blame some people for doing it.
Disconnecting is still punishable by ban. I have never heard of this happening and none of them ever cited that as a reason.

Nah survivor is actually a lot easier on controler, KBM just feels weird. Imagine playing God of War or any 3rd person game on a keyboard.Might come down to personal preference but movement is way easier for survivor through the use of a controller.
Killer can be pretty bad tho.

@mmain said:
Don't get me wrong. I have unintentionally pulled someone off a hook when the killer is close by and invisible or something like that. Those are not the instances I am talking about. The instances I am referring to are like the one tonight. The killer was standing right beside the hook and fully visible. This person still ran up and pulled me off the hook and was going to repeat the scenario again.
I couldn't care less that any killer is upset when I quit in that circumstance. If you are playing killer and you are going to reward the survivors that are playing selfishly and preventing the game from being fun for others I am more than happy to keep you from getting points for hitting, hanging and killing me also.
Killer didn't do anything wrong. Is he supposed to let you go? You are the easier target, but I get it, it sucks.

You basically get to see how long you, and everyone else is exposed for. Sorry to say, but it will affect Myers because it will show everyone how long they are exposed for. Through, he could get some buffs to compensate?
What did you have in mind for buffs? Also, I feel like part of the skill with exposed is knowing how long it lasts for. I could see it with NOED or MYC but I don't see why it needs to happen.

I don't know why SWF is such a dreaded thing. Most of the time when I see videos of SWF groups it's total chaos, very little working together and very little ability to tell the others where they are. Sure, some are highly organized and highly effective, but those are the exception, not the rule. Maybe I've just been lucky.
Lots of 4-man squads on Xbox. It is rough at Rank 1.

I'm a rank 1 survivor at devotion 5, so don't assume I'm a noob just because I point out how OP killers are. Everybody does that as a psychological defense mechanism.
@michaelrandom27 Alright, why do you think Killers are OP? And what Killers specifically or just all of them?

I've never experienced this on Xbox.

You're kidding, right? Multiple killers can basically do that already. Freddy can use barbecue and chilli and teleport to a generator and kill them, Spirit can also "teleport" and give no warning because of Prayer Beads, Nurse can teleport anywhere at any time, Hillbilly can move so fast across the map that the survivors have only seconds to react, and a Scratched Mirror Myers has no warning for any of his movements and has free wallhacks.
I'm going to guess you aren't a high rank. If you get hit by Freddy's gen teleport, that is your fault. Spirit's Prayer Beads are hard countered by Spine Chill. Billy is hella loopable, Nurse is Nurse and Mirror Myers is slow enough you should always be able to find a loop. Try to practice situational awareness more.

Legion missing and therefore cancelling his frenzy (which makes no sense) was truetalent's idea because this guy is OBSESSED with "skillful" play in a casualgame meant to be played for 1-2 hours before playing something else.
I actually like that change. I don't think it should cancel it on the first swing but he shouldn't get to keep swinging with no cooldown, slowdown or any other negative affect.

And if you can't kill anyone during the game, why should you be rewarded for being bad at the game. Because you can close the hatch and if doors spawn together you could kill us anyway.
It is HIGHLY unlikely a Killer will pip or get a 3K if they haven't killed anyone during the first phase. If you die to the EGC, it is your own fault when you have a full team. Here's another mistake you made, the game isn't over until the last Survivor leaves. EGC is the END GAME COLLAPSE, not THE GAME IS OVER COLLAPSE. Get used to it, it's staying.

Why stop at OoO? Why not just make it so that all survivor perks are useless? Seriously, if OoO can't be used against stealth killers, there is absolutely no point in running it. You guys won't stop until every survivor perk is worthless. This isn't even worth consideration.
Because OoO doesn't counter them. It DESTROYS them. How would you feel if the Killers had a perk that let them instantly see where everyone was and teleport to one of them? That totally shuts down the Survivor's main objective, to do gens. OoO kills the stealth Killer's chances at winning unless they take it out of the game.

If you're being facecamped: tell your teammates to stay away and do gens, and prolong your time on the hook as much as possible. Martyr yourself by wasting as much time as possible for the killer.
If a teammate is being facecamped, let them do the same and just do gens.
As a killer main, I see campers as pathetic. It's really sad how insecure a player has to be in order to actually camp, much less facecamp. It'd fine and makes sense to hang around the same third of the map if the totems and gens are there too, but it's just evidence of a lack of experience to actually sit near and prioritize the hook - either that, or they're just genuinely trying to be a prick, and those kinds of people really outta just be removed from the game.
I disagree. If you know a team is going to be stupidly altruistic, it is perfectly acceptable to be next to the hook.

Camping is as much of a "strategy" as sitting in a locker while you wait for all your teammates to die.
Yes, it is. It's unfortunate, but, people must be allowed to learn why it isn't a good strategy. Just as all of our baby locker Dwight's must eventually come out of their lockers.

They're silly to think that they won't get caught, the system is automatic and does not care which platform they are on. We have a new system on the way that'll launch sometime after dedicated servers that'll allow us to be more strict with people who disconnect. For more info, I would suggest checking out the last dev update.
Well it is very good to hear that you guys are working on a system to prevent this! I'm sure I speak for a lot of people as cannot wait for that to arrive! I just wasn't sure as they are usually 4-man groups and they rotate who quits to avoid the current system. I'd ask them more questions but they usually block you if you call them out on it :(
Edit: I realized I have a few of them recorded on stream doing it, rip.

I like to run the 4 meter terror radius Myers on The Game. Dead Rabbit + J. Myers Memorial for addons. M&A, BBQ, PGTW and Ruin. 0 heartbeat in Tier 1, 4 meters in Tier 2, plus you get to use Tier 3. It feels great being a 115% movement speed and getting gen grabs.

5 games today. 3 camper killer and 2 tunneler.
Still gonna go with my usual spiel. Camping is only viable if the Survivors make it viable.
As for tunneling, well, it's usually used by lower rank Killers or by low tier Killers to gain easy map pressure. Honestly, if you get unhooked right in front of me and your buddy isn't injured, I am gonna go after you, unless you have Borrowed. It's just a smart logistical move. However, I also get that randoms are a thing and sometimes they can be a little dumb.

If you have the money and PC power, then go for it. DBD can be a beast to run on PC at 60FPS. Plus, you'll probably have to spend about $55 because David & Huntress and Doctor & Feng aren't free.

No. Survivor's will become immersed. How about instead of punishing Killers, you reward them for not camping. With a super altruistic team, it makes total sense to stick around.

They already tried a similar change on the PTB and apparently, Survivors abused the hell out of it.
