Why are you at a hook to begin with and don't hit survivors that got just got off hook. Here's how I prevent gen rushing corrupt intervention 3 minutes . Pop and brutal strength survillance that's is easy enough and if you can't find someone n three minutes find another game.

    Corrupt doesn't last 3 minutes.

I...chase people and they to near the hook. I should lose BP for that? You realize that creates a huge safe zone, right?

So a Survivor can bodyblock me and prevent me from hitting a healthy Survivor, but I can't hit them?

Your logic astounds me, truly it does.

  • No.

My first reply felt incomplete sooooo

If that Survivor who just got unhooked bodyblocks what then?

If there's a Survivor within 15m of the hook what then?

If its the EGC, what then?

Slamming gens does exist. Don't say things that aren't true.

  • First played in May or June of 2018 after a friend told me to get it.

What’s worse in from what I remember there was an old QnA where someone asked “why are her hitboxes so big” and the devs said something along the lines of “This isn’t a precise game so hitboxes should be a bit bigger

    THEN WHY ADD DEATHSLINGER!

Tbh, I've found the DongSlinger to have decent hitboxes

  • @Phasmamain said:

Huntress is kind of just an old killer at this point.

    Insanely strong addons

    Unequal addon numbers

    terrible hit boxes

If they fix her addons and hitboxes she’ll be fine

"Oops, we made Huntress hitboxes the size of Clown's belly.

But don't worry! We'll have a fix soon!"

  • I never have problems finding matches with Crossplay off.

I'm on Xbox NA and Survivor queue's are about 5 minutes and Killer is instant.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the devs said they were gonna nerf OoO pretty soon.

They said they had a possible concept with no confirmed date.

Kinda like how Huntress is confirmed to be getting a change with no confirmed date.

  • They've already said Huntress and her add-ons are going to be looked at.

OoO is still unnerfed, and I'd say is just about as unfun as Iri Head.

Well to be fair, the forum is killer biased from my experience. Most likely because as the game is survivor sided in some cases, more killers come onto the forums to complain about such or just to see others opinions on it.

That's not to say everyone is biased, nor that there aren't survivors who are biased on the forums.

Wasn't referring to the "killer forum" but to the "all killers think 4k = balanced"

It took me like, 3 weeks of suffering because once Survivors know, they'll stay in lockers to prevent you from getting it.

  • It isn't a good perk if Survivors know what they are doing.

If anything it needs a buff to be more healthy.

Stranger Things was mega hype, as was Halloween and the characters are fan favorites to this day.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

I have a hard time understanding this discussion. We are talking about an action the devs have said was not intended, that gives an advantage, and that cannot & likely will never ever be even possible on console. Anything at all that fits that description imo shouldn't be in the game, for fairness sake if nothing else.

The consistent arguement for Crossplay being fine I always see is something like "we all are playing the same game, the differences are small & unimportant, etc." But are we? Sound settings this, video card that, resolution this & this, macro that, edit files these things over here. My self-respect won't allow me to go down this road, or ever feel any of this is ok.

Some will say it's all the devs' fault. Only to a point, they aren't reaching into your rig and changing a thing.

Others will point out just flick off Crossplay. Works to wall off the percieved unfairness but helps change nothing and further divides us all.

And to the notion "get a PC" costs aside remember there is no Cross Progression nor is it coming, so we are very much trapped. Very few with thousands of hours will rebuy everything and regrind from scratch.

I'm not naive enough to expect an abundance of fairness in an online multiplayer video game, but we are pretty far I think from that level playing field. Point at the devs all you want, but we are the ones actually pressing the buttons. Because we can doesn't mean we should.

There's plenty of much bigger issues with Console v PC than a J flick.

If they ignore the J flick and fix Console FPS then I'd let PC players keep "tech" they wanted.

  • Nah. Even my casual SWF memes on Rank 1 Killers.

The amount of advantages a SWF offers over Solo's is staggering.

I guess it would be the killer's speed. Before I played this game, I was playing a lot of Friday the 13th and some of the Jasons on their go VERY slowly. And there is some problems with this game, that have come to light only recently, of survivors just holding forward for a guaranteed 30 seconds wasted. But I am able to catch the survivors often, and in reasonable time, if I run the loops well as a 115% killer.

Same thing happens in Friday the 13th, where you hold forward to gain easy distance on the killer, except you have stamina in that game. So I also love not having to stress about stamina consumption in this game when playing as survivor.

That's true. I always felt super slow.

I believe it is much higher. Freddy and Leatherface alone is close to 80%!

Even if you use BHVR's stats, which are very very flawed, Freddy is at a 75% Kill Rate and is being nerfed. Bubba isn't that high.

  • You could. Most people just use Shadowborn or M&A tho

I just watched my friend on his Twitch play a match as Spirit and bullied those poor survivors with 4 gens left. He doesn’t even play killer at all, only plays survivor. All he had to do was listen and put his headphones to good use and it was inevitable that he would destroy them.

Seriously, this killer is in desperate need of an overhaul. It’s too easy to play with no counterplay for survivors. I’m sorry to say it but my love for Spirit has been driven away lately and I don’t feel like calling myself a Spirit main anymore. I’m not sure who I’ll main now but I think I might just play a variety for a bit and if I do play Spirit again, I’ll just run BBQ for bloodpoints and three atrocious perks to compensate for how brain dead this killer is.

P.S. Yui Kimura is my waifu now and it’s gonna stay that way.

So your friend doesn't play Killer.

Presumably a Rank 20, where Survivors sit in corners and do nothing.

Not sure if this is a good comparison.

Give me a break dude. If you have to screw with a bunch of crap on your computer to get an advantage, it's cheating. You won't get busted for it, but anyone who does it is a dirty cheater. Same thing with stretched res. It's sad to cheat at a rng noncompetitive party game. Swf on comms is not that. Not 99% of the time. The exception would be these try hard gen rush squads, which are unicorns. Its just as sad to take this game serious enough to actually come up with gen rushing strategies as it is to cheat hardware or software to gain an advantage. Swf on comms is 99% friends playing a game together. Yeah sometimes those people are dicks, but same thing with Killers. Doesn't make cheating okay.

Again, I haven't said if I thought it was or was not cheating. I was merely pointing out that OP's logic was quite flawed and that former "exploits" were left in the game and are now considered techs.

Stretched res needs a fix, 100%. It, too, is an exploit and it, too, has to go.

the he’ll do you mean? swf literally is base gameplay...

The game was not balanced around people with comms. That was my point. Your logic is flawed.

Additionally, the line between "tech" and exploit is very very thin. The tractor tech used to be considered an exploit, as did the window tech, as they are both unintended features.

Should Blight's turning when pausing the game be left in then? Since its in the base game, it should be fine, right?

By your logic Stretched Res should also go. As should adjusting your brightness to make the game far easier to see than was intended.

  • If you use the line "you are giving yourself a competitive advantage that you would not normally have by base gameplay" then SWF using comms shouldn't be in the game either.

I'm not arguing that SWF should be removed or anything, just that this line of thinking is flawed.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2049711#Comment_2049711

This is correct, the same should happen to Survivors as well. If you are playing on a good Level (which most of the time only applies for coordinated 4 man SWFs), you will stomp a lot of Killers. When MMR is switched on, you will have to wait for a Top Level-Killer.

I agree tho that most Killers at highest Level will not be viable. But this only applies to the highest Level, for the vast majority of players, they should be fine.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2049715#Comment_2049715

Yes. But who knows how long this will take? I mean, I just take Dowsey as an extreme example here - 879 Kills on Twins, 1 Escape. Very high Twins-MMR, he only got into a Lobby after 2 hours and only because a 4 man Tournament-SWF sniped him. And he lost, because he was playing Twins.

Sure he will eventually get out of this MMR-Range, but should he really have to wait for hours in the Lobby to find a Tournament-SWF who beats him back into good queue times?

And I am pretty sure other Content Creators or Killer Mains in general will have the same problem, as long as they are not good with a strong Killer. Players like Samantha the Spirit will be fine probably (just taking her as an example here, amazing Spirit Main, not really the most enjoyable experience to play against her tho, feeling like a Baby Survivor again). But if I look at players like TheEntityLeftHand or Scorpionz, they might be in trouble since they are currently winning many games with their Main Killers and if MMR drops, they will be really high and their Killers not be capable of dealing with those Survivors.

Which would not be a big problem currently, because they dont go against super strong SWFs all the time. But with MMR this can really be a pain.

But I cannot stress it enough, for the average Killer or Survivor player not much will change. But for people really dedicated to their Main Killer (if it is not Nurse or Spirit) or really strong Survivors, MMR will probably kill the game for them.

I agree with that, if you invest time into a Killer (or Survivor) there will be a point where you are better off not playing because queue times will be so long.

However, I was more referring to the average Red Rank Survivor nowadays. Personally, I think that 80% of people in Red Ranks are extremely boosted by the lack of a real Rank Reset and by the pip system. So, when they are matched with people with high MMR, shouldn't they drop out of that skill bracket?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2049683#Comment_2049683

The big problem with MMR is that it gathers information already. This means that good players will still go against bad players currently and their MMR will be boosted up. Not by much per game, but it will steadily increase (if it calculates correctly, you will play against bad players which dont increase your MMR that much, but the longer it gathers data, the more increase will happen).

And if MMR is active, you will go against really strong players all of the sudden. And since those are rare, you will have long queue times, because from one moment to the other, the number of suitable opponents is really small.

So yeah, I guess currently many players get boosted by the majority of bad Players in high Ranks and when MMR hits live, they will have high MMR.

(If I am not mistaken with that one, but it looks like BHVR cannot win with their MMR-system)

Shouldn't they get kicked out of high MMR games eventually though?

  • Probably not.

Every time people say "this game will kill DBD" it fizzles out in like a month.

The only game that provided any competition was F13, and we all saw how that ended.

  • @KiwiCoattails said:

Well you’re not really disagreeing with the second part, you’re talking about something entirely different lol. You tunnel when there is an Obsession. A lot of killers will slug or ignore recently unhooked survivors when there’s an Obsession, out of fear of being hit with DS.

I don’t use DS, so I’m screwed either way, but I know I’m less likely to be tunnelled in a lobby with an Obsession. So that’s why it is a problem that should be addressed.

I just think it’s stupid that a killer basically gets a green light to tunnel from the start of the match. It’s not healthy at all.

I don't really see why it's a problem, but I understand that it isn't fun.

  • @KiwiCoattails said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2049671#Comment_2049671

This. What other reason do people have to be against this idea? I’ve seen it before in Otz videos when he’s doing his 50 win streak and as soon as there’s no Obsession his chat are spamming to let him know. Wonder why that is? 🙊

The people that complain about DS are the same that hard tunnel survivors off the hook when there’s no Obsession. This community is filled with such bias.

    Agree with the first part.

    Disagree with the second.

I will hard tunnel Survivors off the hook to eat their DS early in the game, because DS is such a loosely restricted perk (on Live) that it is far more damaging for me to let them keep such a powerful perk in their arsenal. Plus, it let's me tunnel them out at my choosing later in the game, if I need to do so.

  • I think that speaks more to the power of Decisive than anything. If people alter their play that much, then something is wrong, either with the perk or what the perk fixes.

I forgot to state my opinion, oops. I really don't care either way. Nothing changes for me.

I think this problem is important. I did a post "operation fun" today where i mention that tunneling shouldnt be so strong, but its a different problem. Killers dont win that fast bc of the gen times. So a solution for gen times wouldnt affect the problem with killer ending matches quick. So i would prefer another thread for this topic instead of using one thread for two topics. Its the same like the keys and moris discussions. Both shorten the game and are the counterpart for the other side, but defending keys bc there are moris was not a good argument.

I think it would be more productive to search for a solution for both problems in a separate thread instead of using it as a counterargument.

That is correct, Killers winning fast has little to do with gen times.

But just like with the Mori v Key debate, there is a similar problem on both sides. It needs to be addressed at the same time, otherwise the other side will feel that it is unfair (which may be true).

This is pretty much the forum echo chamber summed up into one post. Lots of strong assertions about killer and survivor strength at different ranks, but with no rigorous underpinning. If Marth and his SWF still repeatedly stomp the best killers in the game once SBM is mature and functioning well, I will be the first to ask for balance changes for high-skill play. As is, though, matchmaking is almost certainly more relevant to the outcomes of matches than game balance. Skilled players on both sides will thoroughly dominate their competition because they're almost always being matched against weaker players.

In a year on the forum I have yet to see a single convincing argument for why high-skill matches are survivor-sided. The common talking points are personal experience (far too narrow), "streamer X or Y dominates" (streamers on the other side do too; matchmaking is so critical that you can't draw conclusions about balance), tournaments (How do you evaluate the skill of the participants without a functional MMR system? Win conditions also aren't the same as in the actual game, and many tactics, maps, loadout items, etc. are typically banned. It no longer reflects the balance of public matches.), and "everyone says so" (fallacious argument). I am not saying that it absolutely is not the case that an optimal SWF wouldn't consistently perform well against an optimal killer, mind you. I'm just saying I have yet to see a compelling argument for it, and also that it's irrelevant for most players because high-rank killers do perform extremely well on the aggregate.

Data from the devs shows that kill rate goes up substantially at high rank. It's irrelevant whether or not this is due to boosted survivors. In the actual game, survivors at red rank tend to get stomped. This impacts above average and below average survivors alike, because even above average players will tend to be dragged down by weaker teammates. The only way you could potentially avoid this is in a four-man squad in which everyone is skilled, but this is necessarily either rare or not that much stronger than average at red rank. If it weren't, kill rate would not rocket up at red rank. SBM will likely change some things once it's mature, but people have been making these complaints for years even with rank-based matchmaking. That tells me, again, that most people just aren't as good as they think they are and would rather blame SWF and game balance than working on their game.

More food for thought - if baby survivors are carried en masse to higher ranks than they deserve by more skilled teammates, shouldn't killers also have an easier road to rank 1 because their competition the whole way up would boosted?

Disagree. There is plenty of evidence of the game being incredibly Survivor-sided the higher MMR you get to.

There are two Killers that can win against those good Survivor squads, those being Spirit and Nurse.

Every other Killer will be VERY hard-pressed to compete, let alone win.

    Here's why:

Those groups understand the game. They know how to loop and will probably average a 60+ second chase. Couple that with the time it takes the Killer to find someone, and the time it takes them to hook them, and it's fairly likely that three gens are done already. The Killer has completed 1/12 of his Objective and the Survivors completed 3/5 of theirs in the same amount of time. Mathematically, even if the other Survivors are BAD and only get 30 second chases, Killer still loses. The only reason Killer's would win in that scenario is because of Survivor mistakes. If you take a Killer like Nurse or Spirit, they have enough tools and fast enough chases that they can compete with those teams.

Hopefully, this whole argument will be made irrelevant in the coming months with MMR, and the Devs can start balancing the game around fun in high ranks. because if a SWF wants to slam gens, there really isn't much you can do.

1 … 335 336 337 338 339 … 423
