It was a contract.
What precisely do you think they did?
Sign a contract they didn't read.
Forgive me if I find that unlikely.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with them nerfing Pinky Finger.
It's just the fact that they compensate him for losing his best add-on

Now, you see, when you use an IP for a product, you must first get permission to do so in the form of a contract. This contract contains sections which describes the "royalties" the licence holders will receive upon any purchase of the product, which often times is a lump sum payment and then percentage of any sales.
So, when BHVR licenced the chapter from Park Avenue Entertainment, they would've most likely paid a lump sum + then any sales of the chapter would also have funded the business. This funding was then used to support the same business that licenced out the IP to Boss Protocol.
So no, they absolutely are connected and indirectly a purchase of the chapter helped fund the NFTs, either by covering the actual cost or ensuring the opportunity cost of the investment would be covered at a later date.
I really don't know what's worse, BHVR misreading their playerbase that badly to think we'd be cool with NFT's or them not caring at all.

Don't resist Bubbas! They want you to visit them in basement.
Cmon, just touch that chest a little, it's not going to hurt... too much
Almost every Bubba facecamped their first down.
I think I only remember one actually running a basement build. The others just planted themselves in front of hook.

Hmm, I would expect it to be lower, but it's probably just because I play only SWF and we just never cleanse. Only searching during the game and cleansing hexes.
I am not sure how I would play it during soloQ, probably same...
1.43 kill rate in solo, isn't supposed to be soloQ bad? It has almost lowest kill rate :D and they want to buff it...
and where the hell did you find so many bubbas...
It is not me finding them.
They find me. I do not want them.

Definitely. I find that the range of quality depends on the time I queue. Late night generally feels a bit more harder than my early games. Skill still varies between but again, late night seems to be so wild.
None of my teammates tonight have had over 200 hours, i am suffering

What did you use to search for totems?
Curious as I can get 2-4 totems solo and still escape most games using Detective's Hunch, if that's what I want to run.
Edited to add that I never use Maps or Small Game/Counterforce, if that matters.
Edited again to say that DH also lets you know where NOED is when it procs for easy cleansing.
Small Game.
I needed to keep track of what my teammates were doing. I needed to know exactly how many totems were done and Small Game tells me, regardless of whether or not I cleansed said totem.

Totem number was a little higher than I expected tbh. Thank you for the data, always interesting to get records from other players.
Do bear in mind that the Kill Rates for the last 100 games have been considerably higher.
I would wager that they'd be well over 2.5 because the first 100 games were extremely easy. Good teammates, okay Killers. Now it's good Killers, bad teammates.

So, according to you, the Wake Up-Bug from a few years ago (where it speed up every action and not only opening gates) would have been a Buff which got nerfed in a later Patch?
God, I hated the Wake Up bug. People would be like, "No no, I always used Wake Up."
Back on topic, I'm torn on that particular example. On the one hand, it did make Survivors objectively a ton stronger. However, it was a bug and wasn't intentional. I'm assuming you are taking this to "both DH and Nurse were not intended to work this way, therefore, this bugfix is reverting them back to how they should be", right?
The difference to me is that Nurse (and DH) are getting fixed, as they should. However, both of those things were perfectly strong already and weren't suffering that badly because of it. They didn't need the help, unlike a lot of other bugged Killers and weak perks. So, maybe it's more an issue of priorities.

She will.
But Bugfixes are still no Buffs.
Things that result in the strength of the character or item in question going up are buffs to me.
To back up that belief, here is the Wikipedia entry that gives a definition.

Clown being weaker due to a Nerf to Pinky Finger is true, however, Pinky Finger deserves the Nerf. Clown itself still needs some love though, ideally, both should have happened at the same time. But nerfing Pinky Finger is completely justified, it is a very dumb Add-On and there is 0 skill involved, since he does not slow down after Bottle Throws. Super easy to get direct Hits.
And fixes are still no Buffs. Fixing Bugs with Nurse does indeed help her, but those are not Buffs.
It's the sentiment behind it.
Instead of nerfing Pinky Finger and then buffing his awful add-ons (most of them) they nerfed his OTHER best add-on to boot.
Will Nurse become stronger from this change?

Did you read the whole notes? Every single thing is to prevent false-information, her getting stuck on nonsense. This isn't equivalent to Dead-hard straight slapping the killers connection down. I do not believe she will become stronger from this, but she will be sabotaged by spaghetti code less.

One thing that seems to be getting more and more obvious is that people only engage with patches in terms of buffs and nerfs, and that's a pretty limiting way to look at it- especially when you take this hyper-tribal us vs them look.
I'm not defending the weird addon nerfs, they were unnecessary (except pinkie finger obviously), but they are not the only thing in this patch. The addon changes in general aren't the only things in this patch. There's updates to the game's security, a massive project to help bring one of the buggiest killers more stability, two accessibility/interaction changes, and an attempted fix for the DH validation issue. That doesn't scream "record breaking survivor sidedness" to me.
I think the jury is out on the security changes.
We'll have to wait until it hits live to see.

Nurse being fixed feels like Dead Hard being getting it's validation and being fixed.
-
@jesterkind said:
I think takes like these are forgetting that, seemingly, the lion's share of the effort for this patch went to effectively rewriting Nurse's code from scratch to fix a ton of her bugs. Even if they don't all pan out, it's clear that the """side""" (balance doesn't really work like this, but still) that got the most focus, care, and effort this time around was unambiguously Killer.
A handful of weird addon nerfs doesn't really outweigh that, there's no sense overreacting. They can be criticised without... this.
No.
The fact of the matter is that Clown got objectively weaker this patch. Twins got effectively weaker. Nemesis got effectively weaker.
You know who didn't need buffs? Nurse. The one Killer they buffed.
Am I glad Nurse is fixed? Sure, it's great she's working properly. Does that mean she needed to get stronger than she was already? No. Does that justify nerfing astronomically weaker Killers? No. Does it excuse not addressing CoH? No.

I guess the main intention of this is to check if doing totems is an actual valid counterplay to NOED? If it is, there would be one thing missing in the stats. Not meaning that these stats are worthless, good job on that one.
But in regards of countering NOED, it is often said that doing 5 totems while you struggle to survive is not always possible. And when it comes to NOED, an important aspect is how many of the uncleansed totem spots are known to the team, so you know where to go to cleanse and attempt the unhook afterwards. You don't have to cleanse every totem you see to counter NOED, but you need to remember where you saw dull or broken totems. But this stat is of course not possible to track in a solo queue
Correct, it would be impossible to track. I would also argue that whole "leave totems up but remember where they are" is only really effective in a 3+ group.

Oh, yes.
I suspect that's why the Totem percentages were so close together. Obviously, if we had coordinated our efforts, we probably could've cleansed more.
-
@Adjatha said:
Oh, did you track how often a boon totem was actually SET each game? Or just if it was still up by the end? Or how many games had at least one survivor bringing a boon perk?
I wanted to track how many times a Boon was lit, but ultimately, there were way way way too many Boons to count that.
Just off of my memory, around 90% of games had at least 1 Boon perk and I'd say Boons were lit 3-4 times per trial.
But unfortunately, no, there was simply too much data too take down so I scrapped the idea.

Knowing people care about NOED, and are not only doing generators during the trial?
I find it interesting with the Boon meta to have people who cleanse.
I tried to keep it as fair as possible, so I only cleansed totems I could physically see.
Still though, I think I was the one who cleansed the majority of totems.
But yeah, I stopped for a bit (else it would be 300 games) because there were so many Boons and I didn't want to be that guy who messes up other people's fun.
However, I did it anyway.

What is the significance of 2.93 totems being cleansed?
You could draw a few conclusions from it.
Perhaps the most obvious relates to NOED. If not even 3 totems are being cleansed on average, then it's probably a safe bet that NOED will activate routinely as Killer.
Less obvious is the correlation surrounding other Hex perks. It's no coincidence that it is 2.93. Ruin and Undying is still a very popular combo and I believe most people will ignore Dulls after cleansing the Hexes.
What do you gather from the data?

So much for holding a discussion. Unless you agree or disagree and say nothing more; there's a fallacy involved.
Yes, because you are bringing up something completely unrelated to the topic at hand and are clearly attempting to shift the focus off of the original topic.
If you want to say CoH is OP, you can make a new post about it.
If you were to say instead that, "I do not believe we can correctly and fairly balance any Killers until we first look at the meta which surrounds them" that would be better. You are not drawing attention away from the topic at hand and are instead addressing the point directly instead of saying "Okay, but look at CoH, it's OP too!"
CoH has nothing to do with Spirit being OP.

For 1 I don't know you, so I don't know if you did an experiment or not.
For 2 I normally get all the bones out of the way as soon as I spawn in. As there's 4 survivors 2 of could be working on gen and the other being chased by the killer more and enough time to finish a totem or two. Not to mention resilience and spine chill speeds up the action of doing the totems, and I also know that totems spawn in a star pattern in each map with small game I could destroy the totem or place a boon on them and also know if my teammates got the totem out of the way.
For 3 I wasn't insulting, I was being honest, I'm sorry if you can't handle my honestly.

I have no idea what that means, but sure.
I played normally and used Small Game to help me track how many totems were cleansed.

Wait there's 4 survivors which some might have boons so you're math is off or have a brain to do the damn bones
Believe it or not it's not that damn hard to do the bones
You're talking to the guy who literally ran a totem experiment that required me to run Small Game for 200 games.

So you're crying about noed? In the state of the game right now noed is being used against top MMR players. Also if you know what perks the killer is using ain't that boring? Also killer doesn't know when the survivor have DS, DH, and any other exhaustion Park so don't be a hypocrite. Noed is fair as it is a 2nd chance perk for killers
Also there's two options you can do to avoid noed.
1. This is the most easiest to do, DO THE DAMN BONE!! It doesn't take a whole minute to do. There's literally perks that track totems!
2. Delete the game and play a different game.
Actually, not accounting for travel time or interruptions or not knowing the exact location of every totem; it takes 70 seconds to cleanse all 5 totems, as 5 times 14 equals 70.
Now, if you'll remember back to your early education, 60 seconds is a minute. Ergo, it does, in fact, take much more than a minute to do all 5 totems.

Why do people not understand that NoED has to exist as it does? Let me try to explain:
If NoED was changed, then it would fail it's role as an unseen threat. The point of NoED is to make Survivors stop pounding gens like they were drinks during last call. If Survivors knew, from the get-go, if NoED was not in the match? Considering NO OTHER PERK does what it does?
They would pound gens and be out the door in 4 minutes. Because there would be literally no perk to stop them, aside from Ruin, which they would know about by tapping a gen. In fact, some of the streamers I used to watch would actually tap a gen to check sparks before committing to a repair, when a match started.
They would know 'I can ignore totems and pound gens' if NoED had a tell. Or was not the massive threat it is after gens pop. And that means that one perks that protects a totem? Useless; Survivors now know if NoED is in a match from the word 'Go'. No NoED? No whatever that perk is, because Survivors won't do totems without the ever-present threat of NoED.
If NoED had a designated totem pre-endgame? And TOLD Survivors it was cleansed? Stop doing bones, and start pounding gens! NoED is gone! There's literally 0 Hex threats for the endgame, so let's pound gens and twerk out the gate now!
Because if NoED was NOT a big threat? if NoED had a tell from 'Go'? Survivors would never do totems in games without NoED, because the BP ain't worth being caught and dying. They would just do gens and leave. Every match.
It's like some people go 'NoED threatens me by existing. Which makes me do bones. But I want to do gens & leave ASAP. So change NoED!' And don't realize NoED is doing EXACTLY what it's meant to do; force Survivors to do bones.
So no; NoED CANNOT be changed, nerfed, altered, or given a pre-endgame tell. This would ruin the role it's supposed to fill, and gen speeds would get, if that's even possible, faster. Because no other perk fills that 'unknown threat' role like NoED.
And the moment one DID; Survivors would, once again, scream it's unfair and demand it be changed because it stops them from doing gens at breakneck speed.
Cool, that's not my argument.
The counterplay to NOED (doing ALL 5 totems) is nearly impossible to do if you aren't in a 4-man and if you are, far too easy.
I'm literally proving this as we speak via an experiment.
