I don't understand the developers at this point. why are extremely time critical perks like DH brought into play when they know that some of the players have to play with a high ping. as an example, they could incorporate a player's average ping into time-sensitive elements as buffer.
I have no idea. It's been happening more and more lately.
I play Eastern NA, there's no way I should be connecting to people in Europe at all. That's not fair to them or to me.

"It's not fun for the other side" cannot be a game design argument.
It sucks because you are losing. Very few games are fun to lose.
No, it sucks because I literally can't do anything. And it already is used for game design, that's pretty much why locker saves were removed. Were they strong? No. Was that team gonna win? Probably not. But it wasn't fun to face so it got removed.
I am literally better off going to make a sandwich while waiting to bleed out

my bet is on the ping indicator broken or changed to a higher value. you barely see any red killer indicator anymore even when the killer plays on EU west server in germany from russia or africa.
I keep getting sent to Europe.
Everybody's ping in my game is above 150

A Killer slugs because he doesn't want a 3 kill. He wants a 4 kill. So he wants to finish the game by going back.
A SWF goes back because he doesn't want a 3 escape. He wants a 4 escape. He wants to finish the game by going back.
Why is it okay for Survivors to not take the full win but bad when Killers do it?
Probably because there's still a game to be played in one example.
For the Survivor who is slugged, they have zero agency. They can't do anything, they're stuck unless someone picks them up.
When Survivors go back for the 4-man out, everybody gets to participate. The Killer has an opportunity to get more than a 1K and the Survivors have the opportunity to get a 4 man out. Everybody has agency and the ability to affect the outcome of the match.
It's not that they aren't allowed to try for the 4K, it's just that it's dreadfully boring for the poor ######### slugged on the ground and clearly, BHVR agrees in some sense.

Oh jeez. What a way to find out. Well, if you aren't the Pulsar in-game that was playing Nurse on Garden, it might have been your doppelganger or maybe a secret admirer.
Unfortunately, Pulsar isn't my name in-game. It's similar but not quite the same. Unless you saw PulsarGaming360, it wasn't me.
My apologies.

It’s still quite a bad perk which is why no one runs it.
It's incredibly under-rated.
This would be suggesting that Brutal Strength give a 45% buff to kick speed if it were proposed last year.
Too much imo, especially on maps without many pallets. It might be balanced on The Game, probably not on other maps though.
-
I read up until Brutal.
Brutal was also buffed during the shake up. It doesn't need anything else, it's good.

Mm.
You said:
There are some matches just not worth playing. In the 20 minutes it takes to fight that strategy, you can have fun matches against killers who intend to kill and not just kick gens.
If a killer isn't downing people, kicking gens is pointless. Because you'll out repair COB (I'm pretty sure he can't actually damage the gen while you're repairing) and Eruption won't proc unless he's downing people, which - yes - will kill them eventually.
Or if you mean someone who's just taking the game hostage by blasting you off gens as Doctor or something? Because Peanits recently confirmed that this would be bannable, so that's more a 'report the griefer' thing.
You can also do it with Knight.

Yea, because Steam is the only platform that plays this game. I always forget that when the steam player numbers are thrown out to show that the game is dying.
Also, lots of things "trend" on Twitter, doesn't mean anything other than people are talking about it. People can just as easily be saying "I love NFTs" (not that I am saying the majority did) and it will be trending because of people talking about it.
Do you want me to grab Xbox reviews? Playstation reviews?
People hated that they released this Chapter and then started promoted NFT's made with the Chapter's models.
At this point, I've made my point to everyone else, which was why I engaged in the first place, so I have no reason to continue this.

That just makes the point more relevant, though, not less. Unless you really want to get hung up on the specifics of bad SWF players existing.
Oh no, I agree that you never know quite what you're getting into.
It's just there are FAR FAR FAR more bad Survivors (like me) than there are good Survivors.
-
@RainehDaze said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317873#Comment_3317873
But a bad survivor playing in a SWF should only be matched with you if you're also bad. You can't tell from the outset if it's four randoms, or four people with bad mechanical skill but good communication who only play together occasionally, or four people with joke builds, or co-ordinated meta.
Key word here is should and it assumes MMR is accurate and works. We know it does neither.
I can go from playing against someone like Yerv or Swarm to playing against someone with 50 hours, which happened tonight.
-
@StarLost said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317840#Comment_3317840
- Zuh? That's...not how literally anything in this game works. No, in a game with SBMM, 'good' is relative. At your MMR, you could get put up against 4 decent solo players, or those same 4 players in an SWF. And SWFs...have, what? 15-20% higher chances of escaping. Skill is important, naturally - but all things being equal, you should be playing against people who you need your best to beat. If you aren't, then you're deliberately playing chill - or the SBMM system pooped the bed.
- 150 game winstreaks on..pre-buff Legion? On a meme build/adept? That sounds like a fascinating watch - where did you see this? I just did a search and the closest I'm finding is Otz on a 50 game streak. Before SBMM. And that was with the nastiest build he could muster at the time.
- You...play the exact same when you're annoyed?
- Again, even if it's circumstantially bannable - wouldn't you find some anecdotal 'I got banned' threads?
- I'm...not sure if you understand what that word means. A counter-example isn't a whataboutism.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317839#Comment_3317839
- Sure. And similarly, playing killer doesn't mean you are good. I'm saying that SWF get no MMR changes, so you could be playing against 4 decent solos or those same solos in an SWF - which does confer a pretty big statistical advantage. And sure - but that's not relevant.
- I'm not saying 'I do this'. I'm saying 'this is how people are, and you need to keep it in mind'.
- What sort of answer do you expect to get, exactly? 'Oh, I'm very very sorry, what's your Paypal?'. Yes, I'm being facetious, but it really just comes over as sour grapes.
- I'd say it's at least half and half, based on both the QQ I see in postgame and the QQ I see on streams. I think ol' Otz even had a video called 'Tunneling everyone at the same time' based on this.
- -
- That word - most - is the key. And...as I said, there aren't that many attractive options elsewhere. STBFL doesn't work on a lot of killers, really. PWYF? Starstruck? Agitation? Enduring? Either pretty meh or extremely circumstantial.
- There are. But you usually only need 1, maybe 2 with LP. Otherwise you're mostly getting the same info from multiple sources.
- -
- There is, but not likely in the way you think. SWF and solo...you aren't really going to be able to balance around both. So you need to balance around SWF, while helping solos where possible.
- I love a good chase. But if you annoy me, yeah - bye bye.
- You'd be surprised how often I get called sweaty or unskilled for getting two kills in the endgame.
- One is over in 4 minutes, max - and is, at the very least, on the devs rader in a big way. The other can go for 30 minutes. These are not the same thing.
- They aren't. But they are likely willing to hold up precedent when survivors complain that their complaint choice of the week hasn't already been nerfed.
- -
- Eh...giving the killer an extra hook at 1 gen isn't going to snowball the game, or even giving them a few extra hits at the gate. I'm saying that mannered play informs mannered play.
1) Sure. But a bad Survivor is still bad even if they play in a SWF.
3) I generally want to know if I did something wrong. If I upset them in some way, did something they found egregious enough to do that and so that I can avoid doing that in the future.
6) STBFL is great on a lot of Killers. Even if you have to ignore your obsession, I find it's worth it. Bamboozle is almost always welcome. Lethal. Floods of Rage. Nowhere To Hide. There's plenty of good options.
7) And again, that's two slots for info, one or two for regression and zero or one of another perk. There's plenty of options, just not many easy ones.
9) That's why we need to buff Solo Q to as close to SWF-level as possible, ideally at the same time as buffing Killers.
10) I remember doing that years ago, I think I stopped having fun and started being competitive.
11) Most of the people I play against don't really care. They'd have been salty regardless.
12) No, it's still over in 4 minutes. If a Killer wants to slug for the 4K, the last Survivor up is allowed to hide to try to escape.
13) Both sides will complain endlessly. There's just more Survivors than Killers.
15) You'd be surprised at what a single hook can do.
-
@StarLost said:
Yeah, it sucks for both.
I'm probably going to struggle to pip now, and the 3 remaining survivors are probably depipping.
I guess the concern is folks deliberately cable pulling in an SWF to force a draw out of a losing game?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317843#Comment_3317843
It...really has. My last game of the evening was a bloodbath - got 1 hook on everyone, somehow turned it around in the postgame thanks to an overly cocky Nea (it's always a Nea, except when it's a Dwight) who got herself hooked trying to show off, and that turned into a 3k somehow.
I got cussed out royally in postgame.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317848#Comment_3317848
I'll 2 hook them, kill as many as I need to pip and let the rest go generally, as long as they are being good sports about the situation.
I had this guy tonight
Eventually she joined my party and said all sorts of slurs and we laughed at her.
-
I dunno.
I just got slugged for the bleed-out duration because someone DC'd. They said, "Don't let them DC next time."
It's been a weird night tonight.
-
1.) You'll find that being in a SWF doesn't mean people are good. Most of the time, you'll be fine and you won't even realize it's a SWF.
2.) While it can be difficult to put the past in the past, it's best to go into each match with a fresh mindset. Taking out your frustrations on a group of completely innocent Survivors simply adds to the problem.
3.) If I get hard tunneled out (or camped), I'm going to stick around and ask why. That's it.
4.) Sometimes, that's true. Most of the time, it is not.
5.) Sure.
6.) People run max regression because they like making things easy. Same reason why people tunnel or camp or gen rush or stack second chance perks. You can usually get away with running one regression perk in most of your matches.
7.) I feel that there are plenty of great info perks. Likewise, you don't even really need them if you know the birds well :)
8.) True.
9.) If the answer is, "Man, I should've been in a 4-man" then there's a game design issue.
10.) Sure. Although, I've found it's better to ignore them. They get pissy and keep following you, thereby contributing nothing to their team.
11.) Okay?
12.) I figure if people slug for the 4K, Survivors are allowed to hide for the one out.
13.) I literally can blame them. They hold grudges against people who didn't do anything wrong.
14.) Sure.
15.) The game is snowball-y. I personally wouldn't take any chances.

Wait...hang on.
3gen shutdown is one thing, but if you're just being pouty because a killer brought a build you didn't like, that's something else entire.
Why not just play the match out? I see a fair bit of Eruption, and it's definitely not unbeatable.
This is as petty as saying 'well, if a survivor is running Dead Hard I just AFK'.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317724#Comment_3317724
Because:
A. It's far from unbeatable.
B. It's only really strong against solos.
C. They think that the new status icons will help with it.
D. There have been way, way stronger perks that didn't get kill switched.
Imagine if killers did this whole 'well, if I see that perk I don't like I'm just going AFK and pouting' thing? Survivors would struggle to get a single match.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317750#Comment_3317750
Eh...
Firstly, if you're getting 3genned as a SWF you've got bigger problems than Eruption.
Secondly, 30% regression for 3 kicks if you down someone is...worse than probably any regression perk that isn't Ruin.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317766#Comment_3317766
Not hard counter, but I run it for a variety of reasons, and you can often guess fairly accurately when someone's getting close to going down. You need an aura perk if you're playing solo, honestly.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317737#Comment_3317737
If a killer is literally just kicking gens, then grats - you've won. Because Eruption needs downs to activate.
Seriously, I get that people find Eruption annoying - but this sort of wall-to-wall hyperbole isn't useful. It's just complaining.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317801#Comment_3317801
Try baiting him off so that your team can do the gens.
Play in an SWF so you can coordinate.
Bumrush the gen.
If the killer isn't attempting to kill you and just holding you in the game forever - Peanits has already confirmed that this is a hostage situation and thus bannable.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317768#Comment_3317768
The glare from that tinfoil hat you're wearing is blinding.
People don't go for baits.
Can't bumrush against CoB, tells him when we're on it and he'd be throwing to not return.
And yes, if you don't play SWF you are asking to have a terrible time, I know.

Fair enough it may be hard to balance, but they could at least try. Maybe something like
“While in close proximity to a hooked survivor, after downing one person, any subsequent survivor hit by the same chainsaw sweep will be put into the deep wound state”
this would still allow trades like other killers and make some rescue’s possible
Could work.
They should at least try something rather than just allowing it to continue.

So? Throwing the game is for people too immature to take the L like an adult.
Sorry to say it that way, but it is. It's this mindset of 'I'm not having fun, so allow me to just give up because only I matter.'
It's the same BS mindset behind 'If I see [insert Killer/perk/map here] I don't like; I throw'. It's just a weak excuse to ruin the match because 'I've already lost' or 'I'm not having fun' instead of trying.
So....what exactly are we supposed to do?
Sit in the game and try to keep doing gens where the Killer can hold us forever?
Throw ourselves at the Killer and hope he kills us?
What exactly do you want people to do?
-
Because it's fairly difficult to fix in a way that won't be abused by either side.

I also find it unfair that PC players can use filters to gain an advantage while us poor console players cannot.

It's not overtuned though, it's still bad against SWF. It's just really good against solos, what it needs is a buff and a retooling to work better against SWF while being more manageable for solos.
Perhaps they think that the new changes will help solo queue enough to make it less impactful.
It's good against SWF's, it's just better against Solo's.

Some games aren't winnable, so I'll just ######### around and try to practice while they hold their precious three gen. Try to hit all Greats, try to loop without dropping a pallet, etc etc

It really doesn't, unfortunately.

I mean, I fundamentally do? Because it's the Myers problem in reverse. "Your power is good? Gotta have bad addons, which really doesn't make for fun to play with" (and Spirit's purples are the ones that ARE fun, but I expect they'd get wrecked in the process of doing anything with MDR rather than a conservative fix). And if weak powers can have good addons, you get the lot that are dependent on running them for it to be all that viable.
No I was saying that I think Spirit's add-ons are fine.
There's a couple that are a little too situational for my tastes, but percentage boosts are always welcome.
Recharge Rate, Movement Speed, Passive Phasing, Lunge, Activation Speed etc etc are all pretty cool

So they should have told all the players that wanted Hellraiser and don't know or care about NFTs to go jump in a lake? Yea, they weighed the risks and decided that the haters of NFTs would be a minority to those that wanted a Hellraiser chapter. Were they wrong? Maybe, but that's the decision they had to make.
My point is, you may beleive they made the wrong choice, but everyone constantly bringing it up every time BHVR even sneezes is what's laughable. Get over it already.
Also, yeah it was a HUGE thing on the forums last year, and news flash, those on the forums are a minority of the players. Every single player on these forums could agree with each other, and we'd still be a minority of the total Dead by Daylight population.
Pretty sure it was also trending on Twitter, iirc.
Also, because people don't know about it makes it okay? Cool.
Stop defending horrible practices dude. When BHVR does something scummy (making previously released cosmetics FOMO) people are gonna bring up PAST scummy actions (releasing Pinhead and then promoting NFT's). I saw a LOT of people who weren't even that upset that they were promoting NFT's but that they released the Chapter without telling people about it. They wouldn't have supported the Chapter if they had known. Look on Steam reviews if you want to see what the general consensus is.
-
@RainehDaze said:

Flip side is BHVR seems completely incapable of giving some Killers even vaguely desirable addons otherwise, and then you get bloodwebs full of complete junk. Spirit's actually the perfect example of this--take away MDR, and you have a few decent purple ones (and DCB can't really go due to what it does), green being nearly a complete waste of time, and yellow having some that give a few nice numbers but are completely forgettable.
And Nurse doesn't inspire confidence that they'd just try to fix problematic ones.
It's a roll of the dice whether you'd get Pyramid Head's dearth of anything at all noteworthy aside from range or a pass that leaves you with some completely bizarre effects that aren't even desirable.
"Balance but everyone's iris are now as sucky as Pyramid Head's" is a horrible monkey's paw.
Other than like two of her Green's and a single Purple, I really have no issues with Spirit's add-ons being too weak.
-
I agree.
Top-tier Killers really don't need crazy add-ons like MDR, Alc Ring or C33. If these were on a Killer like Myers, or Freddy or Legion, I wouldn't care. But they make some extremely strong Killers even stronger.

So they should have told them no and not ever had Hellraiser in the game? Plus, are you even 100% sure that they knew that the community would have such a problem with the movie studio doing NFTs? Because again, if NFTs are such the major issue, then why are so many people still doing them? I'm sure for some its because they just don't care, but many don't know how bad it is. We don't know what BHVR knew before entering the contract. Plus you have all the people who tried to get Valve to ban Dead by Daylight from Steam because they "have NFTs in the game" which they don't, what Valve bans for is a very specific thing that Dead by Daylight doesn't do.
I am just sick of every time someone has a problem with something BHVR does, someone chimes in with
"BhVr Is BaD tHeY mAdE nFtS"
Notice how I didn't ever say they made NFT's.
This was a HUGE thing on the Forums last year. I, unfortunately, know my stuff. BHVR absolutely knew what they were getting into, weighed the risks and decided to do it anyway. Even suggesting that they didn't know what they were getting into is completely laughable.

They themselves still didn't make NFTs as so many claimed. Also, not everyone understands the problem with NFTs. I'm sure BHVR does now, but even if they do, they are still unfortunately in the minority. Everybody and their little brother are doing NFT promotions these days. You boycott all of them too?
Pretty much yeah
They allowed the NFT's to be made and promoted them. Like you said, they used BHVR's models. No models, no NFT's. No BHVR, no NFT's.

Lack of communication, mostly. The point is for it to clearly be doing something nice, and hopefully that makes things just that little bit more sociable overall.
That doesn't work if someone thinks "that Killer was an idiot that missed an obvious hook".

That's not what StarLost said. They said, "If he's camping a 3gen from the start, making no effort to chase or anything and just stalling the game out "

TIL patrolling a 3 Gen is the Killer's fault and the Killer could be banned for it, according to Survivor mains.
What is the Killer supposed to do? Run to the strong pallets/the area without hooks/away from the gens? Just hand over the gens to Survivors?
Why is it not Survivors faults if they refuse to try doing gens? Oh, right, because nothing is Survivor's faults if they can use mental or verbal gymnastics to blame Killers.
So remember, Killers; if a 3 gen happens; You need to close your eyes and let Survivors go, because it's your fault and YOU can be reported! 😂
@Peanits Since Pulsar is quoting you so much to make their point; can you weigh in? Does the Killer have to stop patrolling a 3 gen? Can a Killer be reported and banned if they don't let Survivors do a gen?
If so: Why can't the Survivors be reported for not trying to do gens?
POV: You are a Survivor main because I disagree with you
Nobody is asking the Killer to throw. They are asking that the Killer not stall the game until the server closes.
Also, Survivors CAN be punished for hiding and refusing to progress the game.
So maybe stop with the whataboutism now that you have that answer?

You can't stop it and even if you miss the skillchecks they continue to play, it's kinda annoying.

This is BHVR’s own fault for designing a killer and map/gen layouts that allow to a game hostage in certain situations. If this is possible, then BHVR need to fix their game rather than ban players.
Honest question: have BHVR ever said anything about banning survivors who refuse to work on gens? It’s the exact same type of game hostage-taking as killers who won’t try to chase survivors in a 3-gen situation and it’s not all that uncommon.
Iirc, yes, they have. After a certain amount of time, hiding and refusing to progress the game is against the rules, iirc.

THEY DID NOT DO THAT. THE MOVIE STUDIO DID USING ASSETS GIVEN TO THEM BY BHVR AS A STANDARD PART OF EVERY CONTRACT.
They publicly promoted them on their social media.
They knowingly went into a contract that stipulated they promote NFT's.
So yes, they did do that.

No because that is preventing that player from trying to progress the game, patrolling a 3 gen and not letting the survivors pull you away in a chase is not preventing anyone from trying to play the game, thats the nuance in that sitiuation.
We literally already have evidence saying that you're wrong. Refusing to chase or kill anyone while holding a 3-gen is against the rules.

Technically speaking stalling the game to the limit kills the survivors, so it is progressing the game.
The doctor example was very specific because he can spam keep people in tier 3 madness so they cant do gens because they are incapacitated. Patrolling a 3 gen does not stop survivors from teying to do gens.
And technically speaking, I can body-block a Survivor in a corner at the beginning of the match. They'll still die to EGC and I'll still get banned for that even though the game is "progressing"
Clearly, there's nuance here

Unless you can provide some kind of evidence for that, there is no way that patrolling generators is against the rules. And if that is the case, i'll quit the game today, because that would be completely ridiculous.
Pretty sure it's called not participating in normal gameplay.
It's entirely possible to hold a 3-gen without trying to kill any Survivors until the server closes.
Here. Looks like you needed to quit circa 2019

After they ######### around with NFT's, I can't say that I'm surprised.
