not at all in my experience.9/10 times, latency favors survivors
Yeahhhhhh, that's not really how it works.

But undying eruption and other perks were changed very quickly
Generally, the more anti-fun a perk is, the faster it gets changed.
Eruption allowed Killers to hold infinite 3-gens. Undying had the possibility of needing to cleanse 5 totems.
Boil Over allowed Survivors to be unhookable and hold the game hostage.

WOW, DH buffed af and give you more distance than before, oh but it require a little bit of timing "Survs unplayable :(((((( we can genrush af, making gens in 20 seconds but no DH require skill now :(((((". Eruption nuked. To use STBFL you can't chase the obsession. Lethal buff, wow usefull to know where survs are genrushing, so I can now see my gens being repaired in 20 seconds in front of my face. Surge, seriously? 8% of a gen, with a basic hit, without cooldown. Wow, what a buff. Overcharge buff? Now you must be trolling, you miss the skill check, "Oh, anyway keep repairing". Wow, buffed.
You see only thing buffed, but you don't see if something is a good buff or an useless buff
This isn't even worth replying to, just letting you know I saw it.

That’s three Killer Add-ons that have drawbacks and inconsistencies.
Want to counter IRI Head? Duck behind rocks and don’t go for vaults, go for corners. she only had 1. Used to be 3
Just avoid the bottle, it floats like a duck in water so you can avoid it.
Lockers, that’s all.
Yeah DHs counter is “Wait it out” but it can be triggered by a lot of different things. Just to name a few:
Huntress’s Hatchets, Trickers Knives, Billy’s chainsaw, Bubbas Chainsaw, Demmys Shred, Michaels Tier 3, Oni’s Club, Pigs Ambush, Punishment of the Damned, Lethal Rush, Viktors Pounce, Nemmys Slash, Normal Attacks, and Finally Lunges. That’s 12 killers whose powers can’t be “Wait it out” since they are telegraphed with noises or animations.
Almost all those powers will slow you down to charge them, or had to be earned. They shouldn’t be forced to “Wait it out”.
I brought them up only as evidence that BHVR has ALWAYS been slow at balancing things, not as a strength comparison to DH.

Couldn't new players just learn how to handle it instead of having the perk changed? Isn't that part of any game.... learning the game?
Sure if its too difficult maybe take a look at it. But if something is actually too difficult it won't be just the new players complaining about it. Either people will eventually adapt and no longer consider it a problem or just complain about it perpetually.
@Pukenplag said:

I'm sorry, but new players first need to learn mechanics. It's only normal for you to not know to play a game when you're new. But when all your feedback is regarding parts of the game where you just need to improve, changes shouldn't be made on it.
I recently started playing LoL and of course I am very bad. But hey, whenever I see something that I don't like/find OP, I first remember that unless some pro players say it's op as well, it's my own fault and I need to learn and improve.
There's a difference between, "Oh, well, their new and need to learn mechanics" and "most of this perks value comes from new players not being able to handle it at all"
Same situation as old Ruin.

@Pukenplag said:

This isn't about elitism. It's about who knows the game better and can tell what works and what doesn't for balance. Why should the new player that complains about Pig being OP because he died to her trap have a say when it comes to game balance? New players know neither mechanics nor counters. They just find everything OP.
As the OP said, a balance team composed of good players also ensures nerfs/buffs aren't over the top.
Its definitely gatekeeping.
Unfortunately for you it seems, new players feedback is valuable. If they feel that certain mechanics are too punishing, we should look into that and consider changes.
One current example is Overcharge. Very punishing to new players, not so good against more experienced players.

Even if only 5% of games had someone who offed themselves on first hook that would skew the stats. Losing the first survivor at 5 gens will almost always cost survivors the game and lead to a 3-4k. From my own anecdotal experience, I'd wager around 5-10% of games have a survivor do this or just sit at the hook and wait to die after being saved. This is separate from DCs of course.
So you think an organized group of what, FIFTY THOUSAND people, decided to try to skew BHVR's stats on purpose?
Sorry, I'm just not buying it. Proof?

I’m sorry but this is nonsense every time someone says it. Killer and solo queue are difficult if the other side is playing optimally and you don’t have an op killer/build. The only easy mode in this game is a coordinated swf and/or Nurse/Blight/Spirit.
The game has FACTUALLY never been easier for Killer.
It's completely nonsense to think otherwise.

Huge DH nerf? It's a very small nerf. 90 seconds gens? The gens feel faster now with the hud and all the other gen speed up bullshit they added.
Oh, so you'd rather have old DH? Recency bias much.
DH for distance being taken away wasn't a massive nerf? Not being able to DH every power in the game? Not a big deal. No longer being able to use DH when in Deep Wounds? Irrelevant.
You can say it wasn't enough, I'd disagree, but I'd think you're being reasonable. But to say that the nerf was a small nerf and not impactful? Ludicrous.

-"Tunneling is the meta not because it's necessary but rather because it's easy and effective."
When was the last time you played as survivor and got all 7 gens to 33% before ever getting one to 66% progress? The answer is never because that is inefficient.
Survivors tunnel the generators when they are efficient and this forces the killer to tunnel the survivors. Make gens take longer so that they can't be "tunneled" (add base kit deadlock as a start. change the perk by the same name to make the effect last +30 seconds longer. Add rollback protection so that if two gens finish at once then one is rolled back to 99% progress and locked). Change the game so that there is a better base kit reward stronger than tunneling for not tunneling.
Otz tunnels in almost every game I have watched him play this month - if he wants to win. When a 9k hour player needs to tunnel to win you know that it is necessary.
You are a survivor main spreading misinformation. Both sides tunnel. Remove tunneling for both sides or neither. The real problem is people like you who want to tunnel gens but get mad when the Killer tunnels one person out of the game as a response.
LMAOOOOOO

The kill rates aren't even real stats. Survivors hook suicide all day and there was a month where survivors were protesting and manipulating the stats on purpose.
That's hysterical that you think a game with millions of players had an organized group of players attempt to manipulate the stats and suceed.
Definitely funny, but unfortunately, also very sad.

Iri Head was in the game for 5 years.

Fact of the matter is that Killers have always killed more than Survivors have escaped. That's why they act faster.

90 second gens. Huge DH nerf. Faster hit recovery. Less SB on hit. Faster breaking and kicking speeds. Eruption buff. STBFL buff. Lethal buff. Surge buff. Overcharge buff.

its not the price of the skins, its not the price of the battle pass or how much cells you can earn in it. It's that putting battle pass skins on the store invalidates any effort put in to earn them. There is no incentive to get the battle pass (for skins I dont even use btw) if I know that the rewards will just at some point go onto the shop.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3359359#Comment_3359359

I think that the Overcharge skill check should be changed, but other than that, I think those perks are fine.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/366403/so-hows-this-perk-fair-again
You already know the answer: it's not fair, especially against killers like Trapper.
I don't know that I've ever eaten nine Dead Hards in a single game, and maybe you could have baited some of those out or done something to improve your odds, but I get your point.
I've had to retrain myself to get better at baiting DH since it's started appearing more over the past few months, and that helps a lot, but there are still those four-mans where everyone is running it and knows how to use it at pallets and combine it with protection hits, and I'll end up with five or so Save stacks before I see a down.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3358664#Comment_3358664
In what universe? Some of the most frustrating games I've ever played involved trying to get a 3-gen going with Trapper against decent teams on maps like Garden of Joy.
You have two people doing separate gens, one person looping you away from the 3-gen towards a jungle gym, and one complete ######### running around undoing all of your traps, and you don't have enough chase potential to catch anyone in a reasonable amount of time unless you brought Bamboozle and another anti-chase perk (in which case you didn't bring enough regression perks and will ultimately lose the 3-gen).
If you didn't bring some of his best addons plus four gen regression meta perks and also get multiple hooks and preferably a kill before the 3-gen (which usually involves risking the 3-gen by leaving the area), I hope you enjoy the sight of survivors T-bagging at the exit gates.
Never mind guys, this historically strong Trapper strategy is actually bad because Garden of Joy sucks ass
-
I don't even think Pig is particularly bad.
I still play a lot of Ghostface and I could play a lot of Legion if my conscience would let me
-
Tunneling is the meta not because it's necessary but rather because it's easy and effective.
In extreme examples like Otz or in comp, yes, you will need to tunnel since Survivors there will be extremely optimal, therefore, you must be too.
In most of our regular pub matches though, it's not required, it's just the easiest and most reliable way to win quickly.
-
Holy #########, if you are having 2 minute chases you need to STOP CHASING THEM
Also, Eruption hits SWF just as often. Even tourny squads can get hit by it.

Bruh...
Do you have the ability to teleport a survivor to a specific location in the tile during a chase or what? What else? Overtake the survivors so that they don't reach the pallet?
If 16k of your comments are just as meaningless and useless, well, then I don't envy your conversationals.
I have the ability to herd people in ways that benefit me.
Most of it is just understanding how people think and act when they're under stress.
If you're just chasing people as they give you a map tour, idk, maybe don't do that?
-
@GrimReaperJr1232 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3358666#Comment_3358666
As I said, I could hit them before they reach the pallet but then I'd be lunging which is reactable with a DH. So no matter what, I essentially lose a chase I should've won then.
If it's a strong pallet, it's fine to eat it. If it isn't, why swing?
-
His reveal is just buggy.

@GrimReaperJr1232 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3358656#Comment_3358656
So... I shouldn't be in a position where I down a survivor before they reach a pallet at a loop? I can't lunge since they can react (servers/ping issues aside) and I can't M1 when I'm at their back since by then, they'll have made it to the pallet.
The only position this doesn't apply is out in the open. So, in essence, this means I should never chase a survivor in any loop or tile ever?
You shouldn't be in a position where you MUST swing at a pallet that often.
You can chase people in tiles, but try to herd and move people into areas of the map that have already had their resources used. Much easier to bait out a DH at a window
-
@Anti051 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3358656#Comment_3358656
Nah, he is correct.
Trapper is an M1 killer and highly subject to the lose/lose @ pallets against DH.
Trapper excels in 3-gens, these Survivors are evidently playing to their strengths, so should OP.
-
I doubt you could NOTHING about it.
It's a read. You really shouldn't be in that position so often, I'd say switch up your more macro-level play in order to help.

I'm complaining about the thought processes behind these changes. It can be a change I disagree with, but if I can understand the reasoning behind it and think it fair then that's fine. Maybe, if the person making the changes knows more about the game and can explain it to me, I might even change my mind!!!
Given the past record, it doesn't seem to be the case.
MMR is meaningless because of the cap. It still represents the overall skill level of the player. Right? That's what you were saying in the other thread? Or is it completely meaningless?
I would say it's almost meaningless.
Obviously, if you're pushing 3K MMR or are under 500 MMR, that means something. However, for everyone in-between, I don't think it matters much. If I sit at 2300, I could be farming MMR off of people at 1300, you know? At a certain point, there's a preponderance of evidence saying that it DOES mean something but until that point, I'd put very little stock in it.
-
I just don't understand.
The game hasn't ever really been easier for me. It's been really bugging me and making me play less. I've been trying to enter tournaments and scrims and stuff but public games are just depressingly one-sided.

So I know how much trust I should afford them in their decisions.
The first version of DH in the PTB had a 1 second duration.
The goal of the rework was to address the problematic aspect of the distance gained by DH. This is straight from BHvR.
The 1 second duration is a reduction of distance of 5%...... Completely negligible in almost all cases. This passed by multiple devs, and was signed off and approved.
They wasted weeks of valuable feedback and testing time. What a poor decision. It did the absolute bare minimum to address the issue they wanted to solve.
Then the Eruption change happened. People complained and they rightfully removed the Incap effect but kept the % total regression.
How are they so far off the mark so consistently?
The flashlight video is a perfect example of them being unfamiliar with their own game. Project lead gets rekt, 1 month later they complete gut flashlight blind speed. It's gone. Wow. If only they noticed this months or years before by some method of observation like playing their own game.
Uh....okay.
So, you're complaining about changes?
MMR is almost completely meaningless.
-
Why would you want to know?
