The matchmaking just makes no damn sense in this game. Streamers like Tofu and ScottJund get fed a steady diet of complete babies to slaughter live on Twitch while almost every lobby for me includes multiple p100s, juiced items, and shattered square/farm/garden of joy offerings

Can't speak for Scott, but I know Tofu really hates how MMR works.

I think he was talking yesterday about how he doesn't want to play Killer because he just keeps getting Survivors that are WAY worse than him.

Oh, and I'm positive you are exaggerating because the MM doesn't work like that lol

I have 5,000 hours total, I'd say roughly 3,000 are on killer

    Hm. Okay.

You should know that it's likely those aren't squads, not the majority of them at least.

Occam's Razor, you probably just aren't as good as you think and these people are just better than you.

  • How many hours do you have on Killer?

Sounds like you've hit the dreaded "Killer Wall"

Usable? No they aren't, not against decent people at least (maybe aganist newcomers, but in that case even a perkless trapper can still win). They were already weak before the nerf, now they are worthless

    Overcharge and CoB were weak?

That's why they were used to hold games hostage, right?

You see, the perks that you have mentioned are still usable/useful, especially if you are playing in a premade, but the perk about gen defense were literally destroyed, that's the main difference (and why most killers out there are being forced to play in the same way in every match in order to have a tiny chance of killing someone)... Now the game is stucked in only a singular type of gameplay: genrush and tunneling/camping. Keep touching things that didn't need a change and devs will find their game without killers... I'm still ashtonished every time that i see people keeping asking for nerfs about the killers, but this is how dbd is after all: the bigger part of the playerbase will be listened more, even about STUPID changes that will utterly worsened the current situation...

Likewise, the perks on the Killer-side of things are also still useable in the right circumstances.

  • @Meathammer said:

It's 100% killer sided at low-level MMR, and I would say it's balanced at mid-level, but it is 100% survivor sided at high-level MMR. Even if you bring Nurse or Blight, you still have to play with very minimal mistakes otherwise the survivors will win.

    That's my opinion on it.

At "High MMR" Survivors also have to make minimal mistakes otherwise the Killer will win.

That's...literally just how high-level gameplay works in any game.

Uhh sorry for break your imagination.

Nobody can win 600+ in a row as a killer or even 100+, Jesus.

Where is this information coming from?

I think Momo is on a 835 win streak.

  • I've got some screenshots of some truly horrendous names from the past.

I'm talking multiple slurs and a .TTV at the end too

But that just makes Blindness turn into worse version of Undetectable.

So we go from a status that isn't used cause it is mostly useless to a status that isn't used because there better version of it.

It's also usually easier to apply than Undetectable.

  • I would say it's moderately Killer-sided at a casual level. Not egregiously so, but it does lean that way.

    It's relatively Survivor-sided at a higher level.

If playing basement Bubba is some cathartic experience for him, who am I to judge? You play to win, he plays to abuse survs. It doesn't matter. Devs won't do anything, cause there's no shortage of survivors.

I thought we wanted fewer toxic players, not more?

  • @RaSavage42 said:

The reason why Camping and Tunneling happen is Gen progress VS. Gen regression are what they are

    I don't think that's correct.

Even if we made those things equivalent, I actually think Killers would camp and tunnel more.

    Why?

Because it's the easiest and most effective strategy to win. Players will always optimize the fun out of a game, camping/tunneling are just symptoms of that.

  • @MrSlayer said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3397075#Comment_3397075

Idk, his post was quite funny.

Why should he gimp himself while playing?

If you want to tunnel or camp to win, that's fantastic.

I don't ever mind people playing to win, I do the same. I'll do whatever I need to in order to win.

However, he's not doing it to win. He's doing it, specifically, to make Survivors miserable because he's having a skill issue moment. "This is my game, and I'll make it the most miserable experience for survivors until the Devs decide to make playing killer normally not a clown shoe at decent mmr."

  • @verysleepy said:

I will continue to tunnel and hard camp survivors 24/7 because it works. I get to relax, survivors die, don't get bullied, and they cry 24/7. Something they only do to overpowered things. See: eruption, every killer meta ever.

Don't care for your rules, you go on the hook and now 2 more and your dead. Why would I waste time on restarting from 3 hooks because it gives you a chance lmao.

Bubba rejoice. This is my game, and I'll make it the most miserable experience for survivors until the Devs decide to make playing killer normally not a clown shoe at decent mmr.

2k every game. 4k if altruistic. Feed me babies.

    Definitely not entitled or anything.

"I'll make Survivors miserable until I get what I want, reeeeeee,"

Definitively 4 year old throwing a tantrum material.

I'm really not convinced. They will still heal extra quick and after one hook, if someone gets it, it's the same old DH. The only thing that may change is that survswill take some variation of info perk to get atlruistic healing.

Basekit healing is fine. They cannot heal quickly without significant time investment anymore.

The first chase is the most important. Not having DH in the first chase is a MASSIVE blow, especially when you consider that EVERY Survivor needs to be hooked for there to be 4 active DH's.

  • @TOFFU said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3396855#Comment_3396855

DH and COH will still be everywhere

Only difference will be first chase.

All rest the same ppl will heal 8 sec in coh during chase with comms same as before .

    After 40 sec chases

I like when survs say pressure gens when gens are 30 sec with no perks left to stop them

So....the most important and impactful chase of the game?

Not everyone plays with comms. You can't heal during chase in 8 seconds since you need multiple people. That's a completely ridiculous notion.

40 second chases shouldn't be routinely happening anymore. Good thing this patch buffs hit and run.

Gens take 90 seconds. Where are you seeing 30 second gens at? What perks, items etc etc. You like to use that number a lot, but I've never seen you back it up.

can we finally stop acting like camping and slugging (and tunneling) weren’t there since release? No one gets forced to do these strategies and the argument that certain gameplay changes shouldn’t happen bc otherwise killers will start doing these is ridiculous.

    A fellow Clown-chapter arrival!

How chase potential will improve. I honestly only see some cosmetic healing nerf.

No DH, no fast heal med-kits, no multi-heal medkits so spreading pressure is viable.

  • @hailxsatanxeveryxday said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3396614#Comment_3396614

It's really, really not much of a nerf at all. It'll still be the most-used exhaustion perk by a mile. Mark my words.

Most of the worst situations that Dead Hard can create come out in the endgame or very close to it. If you eat a DH in the first chase, that sucks, but the truth is that survivors are a lot more sloppy with it in their first chase, anyway, and the real trouble comes when you've got one gen left and you're running Jolt, PR, Pop, and/or Eruption, and you can either take a pallet to the face or swing.

Every single regression perk got completely decimated, while the most-used meta survivor perk since the game was released got a slap on the wrist that won't help in most real-world situations, all of the other exhaustion perks are still completely viable, and the healing nerfs got reversed.

I'm a Michael main, and I've been trying out builds that don't use any of the nerfed perks at all, and my kill rates have dropped dramatically. And I haven't even seen one medkit today, meaning healing will be the same.

Sure, there are the cheesy 3-gen T3 builds that just don't work anymore since they relied so heavily on the gen-kicking perks, but even most of his mid-tier builds have become unreliable since I can't even run just one of the regression perks and expect to get any value out of it. CoB had mediocre information and just okay regression, but it was worth a perk slot since you might get some value out of it. PR will not be worth running since you'll realistically get an average of 10-20% out of it four times (maybe 25% once, 7% twice, and 15% once), and that's assuming you're spreading hooks out (meaning, not getting any kills).

I'm becoming a Nurse main. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to put away the controller, bust out the mouse and keyboard, and just practice playing Nurse.

Weren't you also the person who was so upset about DH that you were just tunneling everyone off of hook? Or was that someone else?

  • @hailxsatanxeveryxday said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3396528#Comment_3396528

The DH "nerf" is barely a nerf. You can use it in two of your chases instead of three. You can still use it for endgame saves and bodyblocking at the exit gates. You can still force lose-lose situations at pallets. That happening once can be game-changing against weaker killers depending on perk loadout (i.e., killer is running any regression perks that activate on hook/down, which is most of them).

CoH and Medkits nerfs are valid, but only for solo queue.

Any team on coms can easily coordinate a heal and take advantage of both medkit altruistic speed buffs and faster CoH times.

I actually don't think anybody's going to run CoH anymore, maybe not even in SWFs, but gameplay for M1s after this update is going to be complete dog####.

Medkits also run out MUCH faster now.

DH can't be used in the first chase at ALL. That's a HUGE nerf. It also goes away if you whiff it, another HUGE nerf.

Not every Survivor player is a God at hitting the most optimal DH plays. Most of them are not capable of doing that.

The perk is dead for the casual Survivor and very nerfed for the more experienced ones.

While I wouldn't call these changes major buffs to killers, I do think some people are underestimating the nerf to medkits. I have been having so many matches lately with survivors running crazy medkits, undoing the damage I have done so quickly. I am not sure CoH should have returned to 100%, but those nerfs to medkits will definitely be impactful.

Sloppy will for sure be one of the new meta perks.

I think CoH could meet in the middle and be 75%.

    Still impactful but not crazy.

These aren't even bad nerfs and they got buffed in PTB too so it's easy for me to adapt. I can still heal myself with a single medkit. The nerfs to killers are far worse than you'll think but your 'coping' is pretty much projecting.

DH can't be used in first chase. It can't be used more than twice. It deactivates upon any activation. It still causes Exhaustion.

CoH lost the single most powerful effect in the game.

Med-Kits can't heal you fast nor can they heal you 5 times. 24 second heals are no joke.

You can think the nerfs weren't enough but to not call them hard nerfs is actually lunacy. Killer got some major buffs this patch.

  • POV: The DH nerf, the CoH nerf and Med-Kits nerfs are actually buffs.

I will say though that the best actual chasees have been in solo queue. The comp teams I have gone against have never been above A tier in chase. They play against my blight like it's nurse and I never see some extremely good play abusing Blights collision mechanics.

Please send me comp players using blights collision against him outside of shack. It'll rarely happen,. j

The best chasers I've played against have all been random players.

The thing that makes comp teams so hard to deal with is their macro play.

It's impossible to beat a really good Killer without good macro, imo

  • It's unfortunate that people will use this patch as an excuse to camp more.

Killers chase potential was massively buffed and what we get out of it is people realizing all they need to do is facecamp someone as Bubba.

  • I liked the idea where it hides the Killer's Red Stain.

This stops it from being disproportionally effective against Solo Q and being useless against SWF's.

Ironically, dead hard suffers from survivorship bias: killers only ever see when it works.

I'm pretty sure if the devs added a notification for just the killer when dead hard didn't work it would solve a number of issues.

They could make the killer hear the survivor shout 'I'm bad at the game' when they're exhausted on the ground and the dead hard complaints would lessen. Slightly. For a few days.

You could make a clip of me shouting, "######### YOU GAME I PRESSED E" and makr that the failed DH sound.

  • Probably Jonathan.

  • I am awake.

You're at the hour range where you aren't really a baby anymore but you aren't super experienced. DBD is weird like that. It's an absolutely brutal time for any Killer. The MM is absolutely horrific at that hour point. You can get absolutely baby Survivors or 6K hour teams.

I'd say the best thing you can do is study the maps and their tiles. Make sure you can run them well. Make sure you have a good sense of every maps layout. That way you can herd Survivors towards places where YOU want them to be, not the other way around. I'd watch some content creators on how to properly run tiles, then make your own mindgames on how to confuse Survivors.

I'd say stay away from meta perks. They will absolutely help you win more but at this stage, that's going to be a detreminent to you. Find some stuff you feel is fun and go nuts with it.

Other than that, my biggest advice would be keep playing with a goal in mind. If you treat every game like it's own little lesson, it becomes easier, I think. Oh, also game sense. Game sense is something you just have to develop over time. There's no real way to TEACH how to know where Survivors are likely to be and what they're likely to be doing at a given point in time, you just have to get a sense for it over time.

After you get down your maps and tiles, basic Killer gameplay and game sense; feel free to start looking at how to optimize your chosen Killers and general gameplay. Until then though, I'd stick with more general knowledge and play as "fair" as possible.

  • It's very late for me, so I'm going to bookmark this and get back to you, okay?

It's good that you're asking for advice and I've got plenty to give. The BEST thing you can do is be open to learn, which you've already demonstrated!

  • I'm not sure.

Survivors chase potency has definitely gone down.

Their ability to reset has also gone down, especially during the early-game. It's highly likely that Killers will be seeing an additional 2-3 Hooks due to this prior to 3 gens being done (which is usually when Med-Kits begin to run out of charges, thus forcing Survivors into altruistic heals).

I'm interested to see where it goes though. It will certainly be new and fresh, which will be nice.

Give me tip how to use hex vs discord when all know from start where hexes are

    Continue?

I like when survs call things like Discord giving you allmost all surv aura perks without occupying a perk slot...a skill killer issue....

PR will still damage the gen. You use your game sense as Killer and patrol gens, if they stick on it, you get a hit and DMS blocks it. If they run early, DMS blocks it.

I don't believe Fogwise shows Undetectable Killers.

30 second gens should only be possible under extreme circumstances with Hyperfocus and a good toolbox. Otherwise, it's people stacking on gens, which is good for you as a Killer.

Force them to drop the pallet, break it and leave. Boom, now there's a dead zone.

You have regression perks. You should not have forty second chases and the heals will be 16 seconds in CoH since two Survivors need to invest the time to go there.

Survivors cannot do gens in 30 seconds during Chain Hunt.

    You...don't swing into DH?

    Use Haunted Grounds.

Half of these things I believe are exaggerations, one is just not true and the rest are kinda easy tips to give.

  • And that...that's your flaw.

I will say this and leave you with it, take it as some advice from one Killer main to another.

Seal Team SWF are incredibly rare. You are not getting them every game. In fact, I'd argue that you are probably getting Solo's or some combination of Solo's and Duo's.

Eventually, you will need to realize that there are flaws in how you play. By blaming others, you shift the blame, perhaps it's not your fault, perhaps that match was unwinnable, but all of them? Unlikely. By insisting "every other match is a Seal Team SWF" you refuse to take accountability. Once you do, you'll see your gameplay improve and your enjoyment of the game go up. It isn't easy but it is very rewarding.

Suddenly, those players you thought were unbeatable god squads? Child's play.

I will tell you a truth it seems you need to hear. The game is not fair. No matter what you do, the game isn't fair for everyone and it never will be. That's the nature of asymmetrical games. Someone is ALWAYS at a disadvantage. If you are looking for fairness, you will not find it in DBD.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

Lmao no it's not. How long do you think it took me to dole out three injuries with, say... Trapper? A heck of a lot longer than 36 seconds. How long do you think it takes Oni to deal out two hits? A heck of a lot longer than 32 seconds, most of the time.

It's still a huge net gain for survivors.

    I wasn't talking about Killer.

I was talking about SURVIVOR time investment in CoH, you know, like we were discussing. Please, try to stay on topic.

The time investment for two people to heal in CoH is 16 seconds, assuming no travel time.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3394504#Comment_3394504

I'm a 500 hour player, and continuously get 2k hour teams. The mmr softcap is so low, anyone with more than 50 killer hours is going to hit it.

And I'm not using SWFs as an excuse. I'm saying that they're blatantly unfair and even gave several examples as to why, things that you have yet to even try to refute, beyond a simple "Nuh-uh!"

And I don't care WHO has to go up against these blatantly unfair teams, as long as it's not me.

Pretty much everything you've said has been something all experienced Killer players go through until they realize it doesn't really matter.

Either you become bitter and turn into an angry Killer main who hates Survivors

    or

You realize you just need to be better and win anyways. It took me a while, but that's what I did. There's so many things in this game that aren't fair. That's rather the nature of asymmetrical games, I wouldn't get hung up on one.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3394499#Comment_3394499

BHVR is a business. They exist to make money. Survivors make up at least 80% of the playerbase, and spend the most money.

Who are they really going to cater to?

Probably not the people accusing them of lying and conspiracy to punish Killers for existing.

    I certainly wouldn't.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3394493#Comment_3394493

    Fair enough.

Still doesn't change the 8 second heals. 3 people can reset each other in 12 seconds.

You have to multiply it by two. You can't heal on your own in 8 seconds, someone else needs to devote time to come and heal you.

The "heal" time may be 8 seconds, but the time investment is still 16 seconds. If there's three people, multiply it by three.

That's extremely inefficient and good for you as Killer.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3394496#Comment_3394496

So now it's "selfish" to want a fair match instead of going against a group that gets half the survivor perks for free, and nullifies entire perks, killers and playstyles by simply existing?

I don't trust the matchmaker very much, however, the only thing MMR has been decent at is keeping new players away from veterans.

However, what you are saying is that you would INTENTIONALLY screw with it in order to find an easier game and sentence someone else to get backfilled into a game they probably shouldn't have been in. Do you want 5 hour Killers playing against 2K hour teams? Because that's exactly how you get that.

You are using SWF as an excuse. I can give you tips as Killer to improve and deal with better players, but something tells me you aren't interested.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

I guess we're at an impasse.

First of all, I don't trust BHVR. They've shown time and time again how much they favor survivors. I wouldn't put it past them to fudge the stats to justify selling Feng skins by keeping survivors in the power role.

Second, as I've stated, even if those stats are accurate, they're ancient. Killers have been nerfed in every patch since, and survivors have been substantially buffed in every patch since.

    I suppose we are.

BHVR intentionally faking statistics is definitely intriguing, but I'll give you this; it's definitely something I haven't heard often.

Since it would be impossible to regulate, there's no point in trying. The choices are to accept that there will be cheaters, or to nuke the ability to play with SWFs.

Since they have to sell those Feng skins, BHVR will go with the former option. But at least let me know when I'm up against these gigachad squads so I can dodge the lobby and let someone else get tbagged at the gates.

What an awful and completely selfish idea.

  • @Mr2ThumbsFGC said:

    That's not what it says.

It says that it doesn't give you a bonus to MEDKIT heals. The dev update never specified whether Self Care got the bonus or not. And since it's treated as a straight buff to healing speeds, except medkits, then it's safe to assume that you'll still have self Care.

And CoH gives 8 second altruistic heals.

    coh.PNG

Yeah, no. It clearly says Altruistic speeds. No Self-Care.

How many people do you need to heal in CoH?

I'm not saying they should regulate them. I'm just asking to know when I'm up against a SWF so I can dodge them and play against normal survivors that don't have a massive competitive advantage.

You are asking for regulation, since you quite boldly declared them to be "cheating by using third party software"
