You know we seem to always have the exact opposite experiences because I'm losing way more matches as killer but escaping more often as survivor. I'm not trying to discredit your experience just making an observation.
It could be any number of things.
-
Kills have gone up by a couple percentage points. I was averaging an 82.4% Kill Rate prior to the patch. I'm at a 86.1% Kill Rate post-patch. Not a huge difference.
My escapes in Solo Q have been fewer and further between. The lack of self-healing really hurt Solo Q

While playing which killer kit?
When generators are completed faster than normal, but pallets are still being consumed at the normal rate, the entire match becomes a lot safer to play through since most killer kits can't burn through enough resources to make a palpable (or even reasonable) difference before the game is at 1 generator left with 80%+ resources still remaining.
Short of slugging everybody as soon as possible or "camping," certain killer kits can't do much to counteract the effects of the time cut that multi-stack bnp can provide.
Wesker, Nemesis, Ghostface, Wraith, Pinhead and Billy that one time.
The Billy game had 4 BNP's and I still won with gens remaining.
Bringing a BNP isn't an auto-win lol. It doesn't even really make the match easier unless you hold them until the end.

Dredge is one I don't mind too much (although I do think there should be a way for survivors to end darkness early with something like the box Pinhead has). His darkness phase I could see egetting annoying for people
Artist doesn't bug me too much but I'm not exactly excited to go against her. She is just kinda there for me.
Nightfall hurts my eyes and ears.

Skull Merchant needs a completely re-work
She is the worst killer in the game right now
I'm sorry if you are getting DDOS just because you are playing as her. I think that is just an example of what people can do just because of a terrible designed killer
Oh no, they'll do that for any Killer.

The notification when it teleports to a locker is the locker shaking. I haven’t heard anything about an 8-second notification.
To my understanding, the locker will shake and have mist spilling out if it is locked and Dredge enters it.
If you stay for more than 8 seconds, the mist will begin spilling out, showing that Dredge is hiding inside.

I haven't had an issue with BNPs so far.

So are you telling me to lose instead? Any other course of action will inevitably result in a 0K and 4 man escape for the survivors. I'm only being reasonable here, camping and tunneling are logical conclusions to these circumstances.
The game isn't as hopeless as you've described.
You need to try to re-learn how to play Killer if you lose 3 gens a chase and then facecamp/hard tunnel for a 1K every game.
Unless, of course, you simply enjoy playing that way. That's fine too, I suppose.

People are allowed to think she is well designed. It's subjective, not objective.
Do not confuse the opinions of the majority for objective facts.
No, it's objective.
Her design is bad. It should never be done again and the game would be better off is SM was removed.
-
"Numerous strategies"
Yeah, she can put up numerous Drones on gens and hold games hostage.
She's the worst designed Killer. You can say you like her, that's fine. But she's OBJECTIVELY poorly designed in almost every aspect. Even her lore is #########.

I rather 100 games of Nurse or Blight in a row than a single Skull Merchant game
It's probably gonna end up taking around the same time to finish 100 Nurse matches as one SM match

Pretty sure the killswitch is only used when it’s actually breaking the game as in crashes or in this case apparently reaching inaccessible areas (which could directly lead to crashes or being stuck indefinitely or similar)
Merciless Storm wasn’t killswitched because the game would still perfectly progress naturally - just that a gen got regressed (which it can under different circumstances as well)
killswitching isn’t supposed to be used often for any kind of bugs as it’s features that people pay for that get deactivated.
They've killswitched for inaccessible totems before.

Which part of her condemned playstyle needs nerf?
Both Ring Drawing and Iri Tape.
Iri Tape is simply too strong since her base cooldown is so long.
Ring Drawing promotes mass slugging

Dropping chase and going for someone else simply invalidates the damage I dealt since survivors will simply heal up. After a certain amount of time it's a lose-lose anyway so I might as well commit to scoring the down and hope for a 2K during endgame after camping/tunneling the first one to death.
I'm gonna say this with zero malice and as genuinely as I can.
I think you need to go back to the basics of Killer if that's genuinely how you see the game.

Your fun is not my priority, which is why I find the least experienced survivor, hook them, hit them on hook, nod and shake at any mistake they make in chase, then playfully insult them in postgame chat.
If they leave post game chat before I get there, I make sure to leave them a pleasant message on their steam page with some pointers to what they should improve at.
It is so difficult to tell what is said in jest these days.

Yes, but you can make a bit of an avarage out of these stats and I don't think the perks there lie. You see these perks these days the most I would say.
I don't think that's true.
You could maybe say that you can see a usage trend, but to put ANY stock into the actual percentages would be incredibly foolish.
-
I honestly wouldn't really put much, if any, stock into these.
NightLight is cool, but it's entirely self-reported from a tiny and extremely exclusive section of the playerbase.
-
Resident Evil released and the Anniversary event happened.
Also, right after that MMR got added.
-
There is no defined proper etiquette, merely the standards you hold yourself to. For myself, I feel that I am doing Survivors a disservice if I am not trying to win.
As Killer: I will pretty much always hook them. I understand that life happens though, so I'm not gonna hard tunnel them out or anything.
As Killer: I very rarely gift Hatch. I don't like being gifted Hatch either. However, if someone really impressed me or if I feel like they got screwed over in some way, they'll get it for BP.
As Survivor: Depends on the player. If they've been playing hard, tunneling off of first hook, hard camping etc etc, I figure they can handle a couple of bags. If they've been chill, I'll give them my item, if I have one and then leave immediately.
For both: It depends. If it was a genuine DC (like internet dropped) then I'll farm. If they rage DC, I'll just finish the match ASAP. As Survivor, I'm usually looking to just go next.
For both: I don't expect to be spared and I don't generally spare people either.

There's no one easy thing that will act as a magical fix.
I think the game is at a point where it's frustrating for players of all skill levels and experience levels, but the reasons are going to differ for those players.
I'm a more competitive-minded player. I rarely get challenged on killer. My kill rate over the last month or two is over 80% across all killers. There is no such thing as "high MMR". If you're actually in that top bracket, you're rarely going to see a challenge on killer. But it's a different story on solo survivor. There is a challenge, but it's not an organic challenge where it's you vs a skilled opponent. It's completely contrived. You're playing against the killer and one or two teammates who shouldn't be in that match. Regardless, there's not much to play for and no real reason to grind if you enjoy the competition aspect of it all.
More casual players seem frustrated because they get to go up against sweaty players with no reward for doing so. They're there to mess around, do some tome challenges, experiment with builds, etc, and the other side is playing like a Subway gift card is on the line. You're just trying to lay back with a chill build and it's a 3 gen Skull Merchant or something.
Players might even fall in between either category, but SBMM is all over the place. I shouldn't be 12 hooking on Nurse at 4 gens on a 4500 hour account. Matchmaking is not turned on if that's happening.
What you've said about Killer is why I haven't played a ton recently.
I haven't been challenged in a long while. It's just boring to essentially play out the same match over and over again.
Although, the couple of times I've tried comp I've gotten my ass beat, which was honestly kinda nice but also remined me of why I hate losing lmao.
-
First off, meaningless us vs them.
Second off, whilst camping and tunneling is easy; it's often the most effective strategy. People who recognize that and exploit it don't "suck".
-
@Canas said:
If it takes me 3 gens just to score my first down then I'll proxycamp that person to death, you can count on that. What other option do I even have to make up for this brutal loss of time?
You could try not chasing one person for over a minute.
That would probably be a good start to things.
-
Unfortunately, her Condemned playstyle needs a bit of a nerf before they buff her.
My personal vote would be to nix the Lullaby altogether. She's a stealth Killer, why does she have a lullaby.
-
Don't like how you phrased it at all, but I would like an FoV slider to help my motion sickness.

Oh no!
People hard of hearing can now play the game without Spine Chill, how awful for you!
It's an accessibility change and a good one at that.

The new player experience is equally awful for killers as it is for survivors. I do remember my first few matches as a killer (heck I even screencapped them) and I got genrushed to heck. It's definitely one of the most unforgiving games with some of the least competent matchmaking out there. It's simply self-inflicted torture with a meager promise of future enjoyment which sadly never gets fullfilled.
My first Killer game was as Wraith (right before his Cube) against 4 Claudettes with flashlights abusing the matchmaker.

@MrPeanutbutter said:
This is called “the mathematical impossibility of winning a game against a coordinated SWF team.”
There’s nothing you can do except hard tunnel and camp. Get that first kill and then maybe if you’re lucky you’ll get a 2nd. Sometimes the survivors will be overly altruistic to try to save their friend and you can snowball the pressure.
Of course we’ll get a bunch of snarky comments from people who are too scared to play killer telling us to “git gud”. I welcome them to post their videos to show us how to get EZ wins against good SWF teams.
It is TECHNICALLY a skill issue, but it's not their fault.
They shouldn't be having to go against teams that are that much better than them, that's a failure of the matchmaker. However, to say these teams aren't beatable is simply incorrect. They are not beatable when the matchmaker ######### up and sends players like OP out to get massacred. They are completely beatable if the game were fair and sent them against people of their own caliber.
To OP, the ideal way to deal with efficient players is to play efficiently yourself.

idk what the Heartbeat UI has to do with 99-ing sprint burst though, I use it as I am hard of hearing but I don’t see how it can help at 99-ing more effectively.
i respectfully ask if you could enlighten me.
The heartbeat UI can be used to determine the closeness of the Killer without paying attention, for some.
You don't even need to hear to be able to 99 SB and yet, you think that's fine but needing to find a vault location isn't?
Either SB is also an issue or Lithe isn't an issue. It's activation and usage condition is more difficult than SB's.
-
I think he's quite well-balanced.
He's got okay map traversal with his Portals, he has a little bit of info from them as well. They give him some game delay if Survivors choose to cleanse them.
He also has some decent anti-loop with Shred and it can tear through pallets fairly well.
All in all, not bad Killer but I do think the meta has passed him by.
-
Eh.
I don't really have an issue with it. If I'm proxy camping like it sounds like you were, I accept that as a viable and acceptable counterplay that Survivors can employ against my strategy. If people get upset that I might down them after they bodyblock, I generally don't really care.
I'd prefer it if they made the unhooked Survivor intangible for a few seconds. No tunneling right off of hook and no BT bodyblocking.

Finding a vault isn’t really that hard 90% of the time though, especially with WoW being very popular currently.
not saying Overcome is broken, but I think it encourages boring gameplay.
Holding SB isn't that hard, considering how popular the new heartbeat UI is.

Can't wait to try DI2. Glad you have been enjoying it. My DBD playtime has dropped quite a bit over the last year (for more than a few reasons) as after 4000 hrs I hit a wall I can't seem to climb. Monster Hunter Sunbreak dropped on Xbox Thursday night and I have not played anything else. On top Redfall comes this Friday so....Could be the end of my DBD time for who knows how long. I still wish DBD the best and hope they finally take the next step with this game. You know besides new killer, survivor, nerf, buff.
It's very fun, not very serious and runs perfectly for me.
Unlike some other games, zero performance issues and no bugs.
-
I think all three are fine as they are.
Lithe requires you to find a vault.
Overcome requires you to get hit.
-
Sunk cost and because there's not really any alternatives.
I've been enjoying Dead Island 2 (although I think it's turning me into a psycho) and Jedi Survivor.

Are you on Xbox?
