More killers are decent, not crazy strong but decently good. So playing killer is way more enjoyable than it used to be. You can play Henry and ignore entire map existence apart from holding W. You can go Jason and zoom around map untill you wish to stop, you can bring add ons that give you minibloodwarden. While gama is still hardly survivor-sided, modern killers have chance to combat better teams. So i understand. I play mostly survivors if I play, because I'm not waiting 7-9mins for a match and switching tole every game with play till you wait isn't entertaining to me.

Very well put, and if you are planning for win streaks, 99% will perform better on killer, for survivor you need an SWF with perfect players but even then a low tier killer might have bigger winstreak.

  • Yeah same for me showing 14 minutes right now on EU

  • I dont want to play survivor because they lack agency(one weak player autolose) and has no comeback mechanics also there isnt any MMR so you get players who can last 5 seconds in a chase and refuse to touch gens

  • It is exactly what you are saying, there are serious shortage of survivor players in the game, so the game has to group together any survivor it can, just to fill lobbies.

I can tell about EU killer waiting times:

    Morning-Noon: 8-13 minutes

    Afternoon: 7 minutes

    Early evening: 5-6 minutes

    Evening: 3-4 minutes

    Late night: 2 minutes

This is consistent regardless of what events going on, if the 2 vs 8 events going on then obviously much worse all the time.

Also right now can confirm 9 minutes waiting for a killer game in EU. I am writing this while waiting for a game

8 minutes where i am. This is the time of day I usually play and it has never been this long.

EU morning its even worse, right now 11 minutes.

idk when there's not a new killer or an event my killer ques are like 30 seconds. less even

EU its 7 minutes currently even without any event

  • You cant do anything really if a perk 1% better than the rest it will be used by most players. Any new perk measured to old ones, is it better? OP! Killing game. If worse? Trash, why would you use it?

Also going on, you nerf most used perks then the second best will be used etc. Its never ending, people play to have advantage. Meta is in every pvp game

  • I mean you can still play 2 vs 8 when it out, happens very often.

But no I prefer 1 vs 4, mostly because thats the only mode with solo role (killer).

But I see that more casual players really love the 2 vs 8 mode. Its more a fun mode overall with less stakes

  • I disagree, Jason is very well designed.

If anything the projectile doesnt fit to Springtrap as far as I know that thing never used it.

Also they are quite different in playstyle.

    Yeah, but that's not it.

We didnt get meta shake ups for more than 4 years now, that's the problem.
Also devs said they are not gonna be changing things anymore, at least not often.
What are we supposed to do if there is nothing new to try? People don't care about p100 grinds anymore.

I think you are right whats exactly a survivor player to look forward in the game?

All perks they are getting extremely situational and every 3 months survivors getting new skin, thats it.

And any solo viable perk from the past constantly taken away with nothing to replace with.

While as killer you have far bigger agency over the result of the game and you get 3 perks that usually way better than survivor ones and even if weren't , one gets new killer power to master as well with usually game changing addons.

Plus the game calibrated to killers have 60% kill rate at avarage, while as survivor you only expected to survive 40% of the matches. The personal influence over games are massively different. One weak link and game lost instantly as survivor without any potential of comeback, I dont know but in 2026 this ain't it

  • Play while you wait feature the only thing that keeps the game queue system somewhat functional, but ultimately I think I will just alt tab the game and rather wait 5-10+ minutes for a killer game than play Solo survivor. I guessing that the number of killer only player just will grow higher and higher due to massive imbalance.

Always laughing on new survivor perks, its extremely situational and only works in SWF and even then the positives you get less than the time invested required and again asks for several hard to get condition.

Even if we talk about survivor and killer perk nerfs, its mostly affecting survivors since all they have perks while some killer even without any perk inherently designed to be extremely strong.

Also looked around and 100+ killers win streaks in a row extremely common, not even news worthy, stronger killers are even 1000+ wins or more in a row.

While survivor streaks are very rare and much shorter and requires 4x 10k+ hours players.

  • Its a casual mode lacking survivor players, so do you think the killer queue should be even longer ?

  • Yeah it also supposed to be fun mode, mainly for very casual players and there is already high amount of complaints about Oni and Nemesis

  • The game constantly has to bribe players to play survivor, and killer waiting still over 40+ minutes sometimes, if you are lucky can be 15-20 minutes.

Do you understand what would happen if survivors getting nerfed in the mode? 2vs8 barely can gather enough survivor as it is. For the playerbase killer role is clearly lot more fun, so if anything expect the removal of other killers if survivor dont find them fun.

DBD got so much more than 15-20 years left. You're forgetting that we're getting official modding support alongside the code and graphical overhauls.

That alone will straight up guarantee that DBD will last forever.

Depends for me, official support means alive as in getting new content from official devs.

If the support became only modding tools and game moved back to peer to peer i would consider it as dead while others still consider it as alive

My opinion on this has been the same on this for over 5 years now.

Until a real competitor arises. With the exception of Identity V which is just a mobile game that's been ported to PC and isn't sold on Steam, no game has cloned DbD's gameplay loop. Some competitors tied themselves to single franchises. Yes there are other asyms like VHS but they were very different from DbD.

I am still of the opinion that if someone, especially an AAA studio, cloned DbD's gameplay loop but did it with better code, better maps, better balancing, more frequent meta changes and better quality assurance they'd pull players from DbD. If it was good enough to retain those players it would be able to compete for licenses with DbD and maybe even pull licenses from DbD. Even if it didn't kill DbD (I doubt it would) just having competition would push BHVR to make DbD better at faster than glacial pace than we're currently getting.

But I've been waiting for so long that I am starting to resign myself that it might never happen and DbD is the best were going to get.

Without competition at least another 5 years, if not 10.

Horror is niche so thats why AAA company wont commit to this, as simply there arent enough people interested and probably the market research shows that dbd cornered the market completely, also history show again and again that new games in the genre cannot compete. The risk is simply too high and the audience caps out at 100k players maximum. This type of niche highly encouraging the cash grab method do a lazy one off license and then run after sales made.

So we have to accept at this point its dbd only

Is it that DBD is too big to fail or the fact that there hasn’t been anything to challenge it? Cause I think DBD is at it’s most vulnerable. They are bleeding players and they continue to listen to content creators who have terrible takes. If the right game comes along they’re in trouble.

For a competitor to succeed it needs a very fun Solo Q experience basically the survivor to be very strong, think when dbd started it was extremely survivor sided if launched a powerful killer state like this nowadays would have failed.

But here comes the issue, killer is the strongest ever been in dbd, so any competition will be discarded who doesn't offer a stronger more fun killer role. This is the typical result in the competition that survivor are way too strong and therefore nobody wants to play killer.

You might say what about making more fun than in dbd? Then simply survivors has no incentive to switch from dbd.

So no matter what the opposition does, its a lose lose situation.

Catering to any side result the other refusing to play. As people already heavily in the game ecosystem and need strong incentives to switch

To follow up on my initial thoughts, I've been discussing this with friends who play and thinking over this all week, reading over online discussions since the announcement (such as the suggestions that people who opt out of a system to avoid harassment need to be put into a separate queue) and a pal put our biggest concerns plainly:

This makes me worried it's only going to lead to more end game chat toxicity if you didn't engage in the intent wheel enough in the eyes of other players.

For this reason, to help curb endgame fingerpointing and harassment and toxicity, I am re-asserting that I think it would be very important for the game to indicate players who have opted out of the chat wheel.

As someone else said, it would be greatly frustrating if I were frantically sending out "Help!" with no way to know that my cries for help were not being received by anyone else in the lobby because everyone else has the chat wheel muted.

This would greatly relieve stress and miscommunication between players who think that their Intent Wheel chats are being received by teammates, who in reality see nothing of what they're communicating to the team. This will prevent players from relying on players who have opted out of the Intent Wheel to act around their communicated Intents, and this will also help people from accosting each other in endgame chat.

I can already see the fights:

"I said I was going to go do this! Why didn't you do anything? Useless teammate *insert expletive here*"

But here is the thing you use "Help" on this system, your teammates still has no idea where are you so essentially the feature without coordinates highly questionable because we already has HUD and need heal can be signaled with crounching up and down etc. You are chased again useless, you are on gen again useless, and who goes for hook saving again obvious we dont need this thing as it is now

There must be some downside to splitting the queues otherwise we'd see it happen more often than we do now, which is only for events. I think it would make queue times and matchmaking worse and both are already in a bad place. Knowing what I know now, this whole chat wheel looks like a giant nothing-burger and not the game-changer some think it is. Since it is not going to greatly affect the game there is no point in splitting queues, which would make matches worse for everyone.

They're not going to split queues for this. I'd love see a "poor sport" queue for flagrant DCers & AFKers but we'll never get that either.

I think it's a good test of the feature to see what happens. If it does provide a big advantage and isn't abusable/spammable most players should leave it on and use it. If it provides little/no advantage and/or it's abusable/spammable then more will toggle it off. Also there will be data on how it's used and on lobbies that all/none/mixed use it. This can inform BHVR on how to improve it.

It should be only used if can provide something that HUD cannot, but based on pictures yeah i dont have high hopes at all. Basically another HUD for those who dont bother following it.

Pips are from the old system of judging a win. It mattered way more back then and is probably a habit by now since I played back then

It was changed at one point to Kills and Escape with that wild hockey analogy of "in hockey you don't judge a score by the attempt, but by when you shoot it in(paraphrased)"

Imho it felt less toxic back then because a win in iri rank required you to hit gens, win a lot of chases, and not just swoop killing all the survivors.

Though old system had serious issues if you did gens the game said you are bad because need to chase and altruism too, so survivors were punished playing well and basically you had to farm the killer for chase and altruism points

  • @tjt85 said:

What would be the point of a separate queues for Survivors that have the chat wheel turned on or off, anyway?

If the feature is popular, players that hate the chat wheel will still leave it on if it gives them quicker queues. They'll just be completely ignoring it in game instead. It'll be like the ability to turn cross play off, a feature that absolutely nobody uses because they know they'll be waiting forever for a game. I'll be honest, I have might have a quick glance at the perks my teammates are running at the start to see if anyone has Deli and again for Unbreakable if we all get slugged, but most of the time I forget to even bother checking. The chat wheel will be the same. You can't make people use a feature if they don't want to.

Also the chat wheel itself redundant as it seems like tells nothing else over HUD.

Now if chat wheel could show exact coordinates on the map it COULD be useful but alas this wont happen we stuck with being chased or on gen chat wheel, no point

  • The problem with rank system it needs to be strict.

If done by playtime like currently it is(anybody can reach IRI if plays enough since impossible to depip anymore) So ask yourself is it likely the devs add a super strict mmr system based on ranks where possible to depip? The social media would go up in flames

What would happen that all people ending up in highest mmr because the rank system would be super lenient and surely never permitted to depip

  • @Wezqu said:

Yeah was thinking you meant that one but was not 100% sure. My friend played it somewhat and tried to get me into it even before it was released but it just did not really seem that interesting to me.

Yeah same, the style didnt appeal to me, just always keeping eye on possible competitors.

I telling now that Halloween wont have any chance the gameplay loop will revolve around NPCs either killing or rescue them, so essentially thats already a fatal flaw, and no role choice is almost guaranteed.

  • Carnival hunt its the newest attempt at the genre its 1 vs 5. But from 2600 players went to 600 in 3 weeks. Can't compete against dbd

  • @SpyUA said:

It will probably die when a good assym competitor comes out and will probably get a sequel in my opinion at that point, to get rid of 500 perks it would have (personally I want a new features maybe something like perk combo where if you bring 2 perks that give some strong bonus).

It is impossible like dozens tried but none of these succeeded. The most recent try already lost 3/4 playerbase. And I dont think the Myers game has any odds either. It is simple nobody can compete with licenses and the horror niche is small, most wouldn't switch after years investment into ecosystem. Further than that as history proves the odds are extremely low so most very cautious jumping ship

  • Dbd too big to fail and has monopoly in the horror asymmetrical niche, no game has any odds to challenge it. So as long as the devs dont make a catastrophic mistake like new mmr system that kill of new or casual playerbase or stop getting new licenses etc, the game likely survive another 5 years easily.

The only way to die if a new dbd 2 made by the devs so the old core is abandoned. This probably will happen as dbd foundation code wise is very flawed and likely will give out in the future or playerbase starts to fail and need a rejuvenation project.

Anyway in 3-5 years the game future likely secure.

Later could be a new one

  • @Wyndsor said:

Not equally selfish by any metric, I want a team that plays for a team.

By preemptively denying your entire team communication over something that >might< happen that's personally offensive, you have already proven that winning is not your priority. I'll pass.

A better comparison would be if perks were visible pre-game, I can tell you I'd probably dodge a lot more as a result, but I blame BHVR for encouraging selfish and bad strategies over the players that use them.

What this player intent system tell over the HUD couldn't?

Like a nea spamming "killer chasing me" with this intent system. But I could already see that with HUD. I still wont know where is the chase taking place so it wont change anything.

And then a Dwight "doing gens" while the HUD shows the exact same.

I really struggle to see how this intent system will change over HUD.

I already see lot of entitlement that certain people think they get to order around teammates and if orders arent followed they will throw a fit.

So ultimately solo will still lack SWF powers as they have basekit kindred , this will do nothing

  • @SpyUA said:

People in high MMR solo q will 100% use this feature and probably will be nearly as strong as swf

SWF has basekit kindred and bond, this intent wheel nowhere near close

  • @cogsturning said:

I've typically jumped back and forth between the roles, usually per session, but lately I'm basically playing killer every day and will only play survivor with friends, and even that usually goes terribly. We're lucky most matches to get someone out through the hatch. I'm farming a bit in 2v8 solo survivor currently and it's the same way. Almost all matches have been killer wins even when the killers are really bad. These people will whiff on me 5 times in a chase with a killer they clearly don't know well and still win the match somehow. The role feels unpleasant to me right now and the 5s off the baskeit BT is about to make it feel even worse. The knee jeek reposnses to outrage about Cross Examination and Fast Track have also left a bad taste in my mouth. Then I come here to see killer mains parrot CCs and whine about how bad killer is and how survivors need nerfs. So I'll just play killer where I'm generally pretty satisfied with my matches, unlike survivor, which is leaving me fustrated and bitter. And nothing on the horizon tells me it's going to get better.

Survivor queue seems to be on permanent bloodpoint bonus (1,75-3,5x) so probably most came to same conclusion, playing killer simply more enjoyable compared to state survivor role in the game.

If had to say one thing is the total lack of agency since there is still no comeback mechanic for survivors, once you lost a teammate unless a gen or 2 remaining its mathematically impossible to win at that point, and if only 2 survivors remaining the only "comeback" to get hatch but in most cases wont even come into play since majority of killers will slug for 4k and waste survivors time but you cant forfeit and expected to play a surely lost match where intended comeback never happens due killers abusing it

  • I think casual players are more likely to play killer nowadays and survivor shifted to be more of hardcore choice (when few years ago it was the opposite).

Though survivors still appeals to casuals a degree as playing with friends possible, however it shows that if mode offers the same with killer then survivor is forgotten.

  • Very simple.

    For killer:

    0-1 kills: lose

    2 kills: draw

    3-4 kills: win

    For survivors:

0-1 escape: lose (for the survivor playing that managed to escape its win however)

    2 escape: draw

    3-4 escape: win

  • I think 2 vs 8 the game casual option, so have to be extra careful adding things to it and also used as an attraction that pulls in players from time to time to check out. But main thing meant for casuals and if turns into something else it can seriously turn off players

  • @Smoe said:

Thank god it can be disabled. I know for a fact that i'm not gonna use this system whatsoever. And even if it couldn't be disabled, i would still just ignore the feature's existence altogether.

Yeah, I would prefer to have base kit kindred and bond, such things that make SWF extremely good, they do call outs and have these perks without using them.

This system seems to be gimmicky for soloq and probably will be used to annoy teammates.

I am happy for those who like it.

But this one I will turn off I can already see players constantly spamming it and completely ignore it.

This wont solve soloq problem I would rather get kindred as base kit again which SWF has free with constant callouts

  • I checked the updates and it seems that there is still no comeback mechanic for survivors, as in when a survivor taken out the game lost regardless but you cant give up and you cant come back yet forced to play it out. Also seemingly the killer can just take out the hatch by not take out the other survivor so he stalls till to find the last one as well, so hatch never comes into play.

There is some plans for better communication, but as far as i remember the issue was always matchmaking giving solo survivors low mmr teammates and since player has no way to comeback after losing early teammate yet forced to play out i can see why the role in unpopular, and probably the only draw is playing with friends.

  • I also only play S+ tier killers so Blight or Nurse.

But highly prefer Nurse though, Blight just feels wrong with addons like legit cheating

As I've said before, you can't balance the game based on people playing on sub-optimal gear.

50-100 ping is a fairly average latency to have, and that "reduces" your reaction window by 25-50 microseconds... from a 0.600 ms window down to 0.597.5 or 0.595 , thats not much of an impact at all.

If your ping reaches the 200ms mark you should consider a new ISP, or give up gaming as a whole since thats in the unplayable range.

Yeah or play pvp card games, 200+ms only suitable for that

I knew that was coming xD

It seems better now though that people can't lobby shop anymore. I'm now pretty convinced a lot of the MMR issues were the result of backfilling. 🤔

So did they fix that, when?

  • What's your opinion about steamcharts, do you really see that TCM will be long lasting?

Based on that, TCM has 2-3 months before going below 1k active players

  • TCM actually losing players at alarming rate.

At launch it had 17k peak players count.

Now only after a month, TCM has 5,6k peak players count, and it can go below 3k at certain times.

The biggest killer was that they disabled crossplay, and the game has 0 security, so any cheating is possible, devs don't have any server validation/check implemented

Like, holy ######### my guy. That was almost verbatim

Thats the point play Wesker, Blight, Nurse only.

Or others who have inbuilt I win button for survivors.

i hope to see the speed debuff removed from the amulet at the very least and a buff to Senko hanabi and mother’s glasses and Furin ( really sad what they did to it such a joke ) or rework them entirely.

Exactly what i meant by killer opression. Theres already video around showing survivors playing with aliens by stacking turret blinding etc. To me its simply bad choice. When there was so much to be done. I agree that wallclimbing is not a good idea in the game, but adding a secondary objective with facehugger, or having to cure acid, would have made sense. Or at the very least if you feel hes too powerfull then dont add anything to him but remove these stupid turret. From a Killer POV this is awfull and just another thing to deal with.

Yeah, and the turrets also having mega spine chill, can sense the alien from 40 meters potentially, so stealth won't be a thing with him.

A good squad, hell even decent solo players will have much fun bullying the Alien.

Sorry but another killer designed around the fun of survivors

  • Xeno wont be played much from what I seen survivors saying that very fun to play against and balanced killer.

Just like demo, which even was available one of the rarest killer.

Alien power is far weaker compared to Wesker's or Blight's, yet alien power can be turned off by survivors, new killers theme is counterplay, which wont work because one just can play the older killers without counterplay

  • @M1_gamer said:

im just wandering how people can get to p100 so dam fast lol. i havent even gotten my mains to p20 lol. Both are currently p12

    One tricking

  • And funny enough, you can't turn off their power, unlike Singularity and Xeno who are much weaker yet their powers can be taken away by survivors.

At this point there isnt much sense to play anything else other than Blight.

    Reasons are:

    - S/SS/SSS tier add-ons but it is okay since according to Dev stats everything equally used so must be fine

    - Console stats artificially lowering Blight stats since he almost unplayable on console, so again nerf proofed

    - Strongest killer in the game once learned, especially if correct add-ons used then any counterplay is removed, highest ever win in row stats (about 1k+ game)

    - Survivors can't take away your power, you have everything as far as killer goes playing as Blight (superior map mobility, superior gen control, 115% speed, best add-ons in the game ,etc)

    - Having exploits, rebranded as "techs" which promised to be fixed years ago, yet still untouched and will remain forever so

    - Even the best premade on comms will struggle against you

Wesker is good though if you want to play casually, don't need to put effort into learning him like you would with Blight, much lower learning involved, yet still very fun and reasonably strong, yet again your power cannot be turned off.

  • If someone dodges, the lobby should be disbanded.

    Backfilling is horrible solution

Yeah playing in a team game where premade is possible, will always mean a very big disadvantage for solo players

1 2 3 4 5 … 20
