Pay to win is when you pay money to have an advantage at the game. Gaining the strongest perks faster is an advantage. People can argue the strongest Killers, but "Nurse is Free" is not an excuse to putting most good Killers behind a paywall as well.
I don't hate BHVR, I like BHVR. Actually I commend them on their keen ability of marketing, and ability to manipulate their player base.
The strongest perks are free though. You named 1 perk that you """"""need""""" to buy that's strong.

Decisive Strike hasn't hit the shrine in over 4 months.
So you're saying that if a player BUYS Myers DLC right now and then with their 1m bp and/or banked bp pump Laurie to 40, to get the decisive strike teachable, then put the rest in their main survivor that already has all the perks available to it. So in 3 pages, gets tier 3 DS.
compared to a player that nets MONTHS into the game, just waiting for DS to appear in shrine, which btw hasn't been for 4 months now, other Meta perks LONGER. Assuming they are holding the bp to level for it when they get it, but oh wait every 1m you reach you have to spend it because there is a BP cap - so you are wasting BP by not buying DLC.
You think this isn't pay to win? Because it is the literal definition of pay to win. Pay to win is when you pay money to have an advantage at the game. Gaining the strongest perks faster is an advantage.
Not really. If you needed to buy dead hard, bt, ub, iron will, or coh, along with ds then yeah, it'd be pay to win.
Fact of the matter is, og characters perks are miles better than any strictly paid ones. And again, the shrine exists so you still can get them for free. You'd even skip a ton of grind getting the perk from the shrine since you don't need to level that character.
You're just hopping on to that "hate bhvr" circle jerk

Love your art, I see all of them on reddit

I love yun Jim Lee because she is a totally ######### person and her perks perfectly fit her lore.

BBQ & Chili, STBFL, Deadlock, Plaything, Lethal Pursuer are definitely good perks. Others might be more niche but still ok.
Good perks but not even remotely as good as dms, pain resonance, pgtw, ruin, undying, corrupt, tinkerer, starstruck.
Hell, the original killers themselves are miles stronger than any licensed one.
My point still stands, the only good perks are on og killers

Why is there so much stuff in this community that we lie and pretend about? SBMM is just MMR (I've even seen Dev's refer to the MMR as Skill Based Match Making Rank). Grades is just Ranks. The game is pay to win. There was a lot of talk about the community being toxic before, and a bunch of Fog Whisperer's started to tell their communities "It's not toxic it's entitled" (wonder who told them to do that).
Okay well ...
You're just flat out wrong about sbmm. Mmr is the number that affects sbmm. People just say mmr because that's easier.
Complaining about ranks being called grades is stupid. They changed the name to make it so people stop aquaiting your rank to matchmaking.
The game isn't pay to win, the only perks that are any good are on original killers that you can unlock with shards.
And literally no one saying that the community isn't toxic. The only thing I've seen people say is "I've seen worse" referring to games like LoL or CoD
-
Maybe as an event? Tbh survivors would just let people die on hook. Plus matches would last like 30 minutes; the last 2 survivors would just hyper stealth it out
-
What are you talking about?

But how does the code make it run poorly?

These difficulty ratings are considering the skill floor, not the skill ceiling. They're not meant to show how hard they are to master, but rather, how hard they are for a new player to get into.

A good way to visualize distance in DbD is to remember that the Killer Shack is 8 meters across!
16 meters is 2 shacks side by side, and 32 is 4 shacks side by side!
Oh interesting, I didn't know that shack was roughly an eleventh of a football field!

Why abbreviate perks?
It saved you 2 seconds of typing and saved veteran players 1 second of reading, but everyone else has to launch the game or wiki to see the list of perks and figure out what it stands for. Bad enough some players still struggle to remember what each perk does; there are so many. (NOED being the obvious exception for abbreviating)
Ruin + Probably Rejoltance + Make Your Choice + Fog of Realms?
WTTDBDF WATPSTETSDHDSUBBTESS
I'll translate that since clearly you're too lazy to get with the times
Welcome to the dead by daylight forums. We abbreviate the perks since that's easier than saying dead hard, decisive strike, unbreakable, borrowed time ever single sentence

So killers can just have yet another excuse to not move an inch from a hooked survivor?
You're overreacting. 16 meters is only like... about one fifth of a football field.

In perfect scenarios, she's probably A or B tier. But to do this, you're talking the perfect map with 1 iri and 1 purple addon.
And this is true of most killers.
Yep, exactly. You can't solely rate a killer in there best possible situation without considering everything else.
-
Believe it or not, there are content creators and people who think she's A tier.
I'd go as far as saying she's the second worst killer in the game unless you're on an indoor map
-
The Shining the og one
Changeling from 1999
Seven, with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman
Sixth sense
The others
The exorcist
The first Evil Dead
And about a dozen others I can't remember
-
All of them :(

This isn't nearly as impactful as people think. The numbers are just going back to how they normally were pre resident evil patch. Everyone also somehow forgets to mention that the peak player count has been roughly the same for the past few months.
But, no, let's continue to have a big circle jerk on hating the devs then be baffled that they don't take our criticisms more seriously
-
That's not how math works. While yes, 2 million players logging in a day doesn't mean thats 2 mil at once, that definitely doesn't mean that only 80 thousand people are playing an hour. If on average 34 thousand people are playing at any given point on steam alone we could pretty safely assume that at the very least the same amount of people are playing on other platforms. That's not likely though, since console makes up for way more of the playerbase, but we don't know exactly how many people are playing on console since those numbers aren't available
So in reality, dbd likely has over 110 thousand people playing across all platforms. This number drastically shoots up at peak times, which is something people like to leave out when they look at the all mighty steam charts. At peak times its probably closer to 200k, at the bear minimum.
Of course the common argument is que times being long which is an understandable argument. Truth is, at peak times, survivors massively outweigh killers in quantity. It's not that the game is dead, its that there is too many people playing survivor. The opposite thing happens during chapter releases, killer ques shoot way up since everyone wants to try the new killer.
As for whether the game needs more work; obviously. Its not perfect and it could be better. However, they game is undoubtedly in the best state it ever has been in and it's more that likely that dbd will continue to improve and survive into the foreseeable future
-
People really like to find anything they can to hate on the devs and give them #########. I've just gotten to the point where I'm entirely on the devs side, despite some of their questionable decisions. Its really tiring to see people get a hate boner/farm hate for content against bhvr; any actual criticism is completely drowned out by people who take stuff out of context or flat out lie about things.

I wish. Jason and Him are the only two IPs I would get excited about.
Same, I don't care much about other ips. If it's not them then give us more original killers, they're usually way more interesting
-
Candyman for sure this time.
-
It's hilarious that people make the assumption that she's unfun to play against when there are only like 6 people playing artist and they all suck at the killer
-
Yeah, killers like wraith were nerfed when they weren't even good to begin with. People just accept that nurse and blight are super strong since they're hard to play.
Honestly I've been getting into nurse on PS4 and love loading into a map or seeing a gen pop or hearing a boon and not going "Well #########"
-
@Gigante said:
No, it's HORRIBLE and only benefits survivors. Killers need to give their soul and blood to get 1 kill.
That is blatantly false. Killer is harder because survivor players are getting better not because of mmr
-
@Vlarian said:
I think there shouldn't be any sort of ranking system, in dbd it should be completely random who you are matched with. If they want people to become competitive (which they're doing with the current sbmm), they should make a completely seperate game mode for that. Not every killer wants to see 9 second chances in a game and not all survivors want to only see blight, spirit, nurse, ruin + undying, etc. I haven't seen a ghostface in 7 months and it's genuinely sad.
Random matchmaking would just amplify the soloque issues and would make new killers feel even more discouraged. As for the second chance and meta killer thing, thats always been an issue. There are literally just less bad players
-
There should be a fov slider.
For perspective the average irl human has 135ish degrees of fov
According to the wiki killers have 87 fov which doesn't seem to be accurate. Realistically it's more like 65. I could be totally wrong, but I feel confident that killer has less fov that last gen warzone players
-
The more I play her, the less good things I see about her. Honestly I think the only killer worse that her is trapper.
Her teleport is really good until the survivors start messing with it. Also it has 100 second cd after teleporting. They also have 0 mind game or chase potential since it has a loud directional notification.
She has 0 stealth since she has a directional lullaby
Her perks are good but not that doesn't make her good
She's just awful at everything. I wouldn't even care if she didn't give away everything she is doing
-
Not before a Scaler chapter

Release the most buggy patch to date, then take a weekend off.
Sounds right up BHVR's avenue.
WoW used to have hotfixes deployed during Christmas sometimes.
Uh... You do understand that hurts your argument right? Blizzard has been under fire for months after lots of accounts of mistreatment and sexual abuse.
You brought up the perfect example of how bhvr is a good company compared to most
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
It's a quiet 24m range that gives no directional indication. From my experience as and against it really doesn't impact her stealth at all- the thing you should be taking issue with is her flickering in and out of focus, which has a much greater effect on survivors being able to run away.
They have a 5s, non-directional notification you're somewhere nearby. And by the time most people have registered it and began to look around those 5s have been counting down.
Yeah so just like Freddy. That still gives them tons of time to run to safety which entirely defeats the purpose of stealth

I believe it's actually less if the Survivors turn them off than if you use them.
100 seconds for a Teleport, 60 if a Survivors shuts them down.
That's so absurdly brutal. I think survivors being able to interact with a killer power is good and all of its a give and take, like plagues fountains or healing against oni.
That just doesn't seem like the case for sadako.
-
@anarchy753 said:
It's a mistake BHVR make over and over and over again. They make killer powers with too much built-in counterability for survivors.
They need their hand held because stealth is obivously OP so just replacing the heartbeat with a different audio at the same range is enough.
Can't have a mobile killer any more unless the survivors are allowed to turn off that aspect of the power.
Sadako's whole power feels like survivors choosing how your power works, rather than you using your power to do anything.
Yeah, I've felt the same way playing her. The interaction is very one sided. Sucks because I really want to like her, but theres not much to like about not being able to use your power
-
@Pulsar said:
Yes, in my (limited) testing, her stealth is basically non-existent. It might trip up new players or people not paying attention, but against any half-decent team, it's gonna do about nothing.
Her TV's cannot reliably be used to cut people off. Survivors do get a directional sound, but you're fast enough to make that a non-factor. The issue is their placement. It's not often that a Survivor will be running close enough or in the directional of a TV.
I find her TV's to be far inferior to Demo's Portals. Faster, yes but Demo's Portals don't go on a 100 second cooldown after they've been used.
100 seconds? Damn I thought it was way less than that... I genuinely believed that the TV's took so long to come back was because survivors were disabling them off cooldown
-
No, the recent maps have been some of the worst maps added.
The hard work into making them is appreciated, but it's clear that looks were prioritized over gameplay
-
You absolutely can counterplay an artist. It's just easier to brainlessly hold w.
Why learn how to play against a unique killer when you could just loop how you would against legion (or hold w) and complain that they have no counterplay and are super boring to play against
-
I mean... Her power is really simplistic and it's super obvious the kind of playstyle that the devs imtented her to have. She is clearly a hit n run killer in a game where hit n run is the worst thing you could possibly do
-
"I see a bunch of red numbers! Game must be dying!!!1!!!1!1"
Yeah sure looks bad for dbd if you ignore it's context
-
It's worse one blight or nurse. Even then it's really not that oppressive, it really has some pretty easy counterplay
-
Wow, they actually got the mods to ban him, forcing him to win the challenge
-
Because it was worse before. The meta is arguably more diverse than it's ever been, balance is okay compared to before, the grind is not quite as bad as it was before, and there is a lot that they are working on to make it better.
It's far from perfect, but there aren't nearly as many issues as people make out
And when have people not been crying for buffs and nerfs?
-
It's probably in the best state it ever has been in
-
If there is a chance for a Scaler charm, I am more than happy with them.
-
Still nurse, spirit, hag/artist. I can't say anything about blight because I don't want to learn him
-
Dms is going to be like lucky break. People vastly overestimate it's strength because it's annoying to go against.
-

You know that's the most wholesome post this forum probably ever had. I say give that man his lizard charm cause he deserves it
Lol, it would be so cool if they did. Surprisingly, they actually made a handful of games that I have fond memories of playing when I was a kid, but this one was by far my favorite, obviously
-
To farm Reddit karma. Starstruck is a good 50-80 upvotes, but lightborn grants upwards of 250+
-
Don't bother with any of them.
Paint brush makes for a good early game, but it being iri makes it pretty #########.
Black box is an embarrassing addon.
Pill bottle is neat but really hard to make work.
Class photo is good for some giggles but not being able to cancel tp is surprisingly painful.
All the block addons are absolute ass and should literally never even be considered.
Swinging chains sound cool but are unusable in practice. Footsteps being louder in chase is pointless because of the music.
The dress addons are absolute ass and should never even be considered.
The dream pallets are far worse than snares.
The drawing addons have too small of values to be usable
The rope addons are absolute ass and should never even be considered.
You are better off hoarding the addons and waiting a proper addon pass.
