It baffles me that you include this: Rarely contested: The dynamics of the event shouldn't incentivise players to not rescue. Because players lost their vessel when hooked, there was little incentive to rescue them if you could already steam their vessel» If for example only vessels were lost when being unhooked, then such incentive wouldn't have been lost. We want a system that thus promotes rescuing etc.

And then think a good promotion to save someone is to be tunnelled by the killer after saving so they can destroy this bluewaffle, it’s like a baton race, and the waffle gets better for each dead survivor, seems counter intuitive to me.

Why would that person be tunnelled? If the killer is close, there is no reason for the survivor on the hook to hold on to the waffle. They simple drop it and have it respawn in a rack.

It's a primitive mistake on the hooked survivor's part, not a design flaw.
What the design of either keeping it when it's safe or dropping it when it isn't, is that it allows other players during the same match to also gain a hold of the item, so that it isn't 1 person with the item all the time.

One step ahead of you there, bud.

Errrm what? How is this any different to the current lanterns, technically when they are hooked the lantern is dropped, but yet you insist it promotes not saving?

Though what I was actually referring to was YOUR rules that the waffle is passed from the saved person to the rescuer... 4 hooks the item is destroyed, so the killer just needs to wait for the notification of the save an tunnel the waffle, you might think your one step ahead, but we aren’t even on the same path!! You can’t even remember your own event logics, Id say that’s a huge design flaw if you can’t remeber all the rules that you created, then there’s too many!

And if it’s dropped it is the same logics that the current event has already!

The balance that people are saying it has, would only last 30 mins of it going live until people realise

1: killers will never realistically get 12  hooks in a game.
    2:Survivor objective can be destroyed
3:DCing prevents the Killers point scoring

It has all the same fundamental flaws as other events.

leave survivor to die, waffle increases in usefulness and killer has to find you after you e picked it up instead of getting save notification.

some good ideas but this is just as unbalanced as others before it

Can anyone jot down a TL;DR version?

Killers get a hook with 2 hooks on it each hook has a random buff, only one can be activated from each of the 3 double hooks.
survivors have some sort of waffle that only 1 can carry and receive “rush” buffs, but it’s only passed on once the survivor is rescued.

sounds like, killers get buffs that make them leave the hook and survivors have to rescue each other, but all survivors win the points if it makes it off the map.

Huh? Why would the survivors care if the killer loses rage, it doesn’t make sense, seems like the killer gets punished for their objective and survivors reward the killer for doing theirs.

Id camp the hook and let the rage build if they are doing gens, and if they aren’t doing gens I still win, and if they swarm the hook I still win. The only way this seems to be of any use is if no hooks get made and the gens are done and at best you get to Mori one survivor, I don’t get how this would stop anything you’ve suggested it would stop

If killer loses RAGE then they can't mori you and thus it isn't even a factor in the game. If you kill someone via camping/tunneling, RAGE is disabled for the rest of the game.

You don't seem to understand. If you get a hook you lose some RAGE, which gives survivors the opportunity to complete more gens. RAGE also tics down over time, so if they decide to not do gens and swarm the hook then you are also indirectly losing RAGE because it tics down and they aren't doing gens to replenish it. You also don't get to mori just any survivor, only the ones that contributed to completing gens. So one counter play tactic would be to designate one survivor as the rescuer and they do no gens. If we assume the first person you catch didn't do any gens either and was just chased from near the start of the game, then you can only use RAGE on 2 survivors. If they rush gens and give you RAGE you have to go out and find one of the 2 survivors that did gens, meaning you can't just camp. And because RAGE basically requires 3 gens to pop very close together, if they hide and you lose RAGE then that's it you won't get it back. On top of the fact that if you catch/hook the non-gen rushers you also lose RAGE.

The whole point of a survivor is to do gens and get the hell out of dodge. It’s just not a good idea. One hit killers with a mori offering can do what you’re suggesting the whole game and they will still camp and tunnel.

Most survivors don’t want to play a game of hide and seek while they wait for some timer to deplete so they can’t be downed, who needs that when The HEX for this already exists, because that’s pretty much your idea a built in HEX that already exists, with rules that stop killers playing how they choose, with a pretty pitiful pay off.

BHVR never once said that they wouldn't put a clown into the game, that was just a rumor that players were passing around. Prior to adding the clown, they did say that some people have real phobias about clowns, but they never said that they wouldn't add one because of that.

It was said in a QandA along the lines of:
Will we have a clown killer?
    No that would be silly!

If the guy dies on hook you lose RAGE completely. They can do 2 gens then have to make a save. If they want to keep going they simply need to wait. Plus you lose RAGE faster when you get hooks, which means they can do more gens sooner.

Not really a good comparison though.
  • Can’t think of many stealth horror games to be honest
  • Basically. Survivors can only sprint for 20 seconds or so before a stamina bar runs out and they can't sprint or use exhaustion perks or do fast actions. They can still do all other actions like normal including dropping pallets and slow vaulting. Every second not running recharges a second of run time. All exhaustion perks besides adrenaline cost 5 seconds worth of stamina to use with no other cost. Adrenaline fills your stamina to 200% max and heals you 1 state with no speed boost.

To compensate remove scratch marks entirely. All of them.

Might at least make for a cool alternate game mode cuz it would definitely be a HUGE change

Yeah and the killer also has a stamina bar that depleted after 20 seconds and they can’t do any actions like lunge, valt or break pallets.

  • Remember killers don't have a game without surviors either.
The point is a game with DCing survivors is as good as not having any, so your point is irrelevant to the topic
  • RAGE

RAGE is a new mechanic designed to be a soft solution to gen rushing, tunneling, and camping. It is meant to encourage players to AVOID these tactics, however it does not actively punish them, which is why I am calling it a soft solution. If you want to gen rush/camp or tunnel you can but it will come with a risk now.

-The RAGE meter fills up by 40% each time a generator is completed. This meter will regress at 1 c/s. RAGE becomes active when the meter reaches 100%.

-Once RAGE is activated, the killer can mori any survivor that repaired more than a total of 40% of all completed generators. This rule is ignored if the generator that activated RAGE also powers the Exit Gates.

-RAGE lasts until the meter is fully depleted. Using RAGE will instantly deplete the entire meter. RAGE depletes 50% faster for each survivor on a hook.*

-When a generator on the map is over 90% complete, the RAGE meter will flash red for survivors only.

-Survivors affected by RAGE will see a special symbol around their HUD icon. Survivors cannot see the RAGE status of other survivors. Killers cannot see the RAGE status of survivors.

-RAGE will be completely deactivated when a survivor dies.

-RAGE is disabled if the killer offers an Ivory or Ebony Memento Mori. However, the meter will still fill/deplete to keep the offering secret.

*(Alternative - RAGE depletes by 20% each time a survivor is hooked.)

    EXPLANATION:

Basically RAGE is a meter based mechanic that will sway with the flow of the game and act as a sort of speed limiter to prevent games from going by too fast, either from gen rushing or from camping/tunneling. While it's more to slow the former, it has some checks in place to slow down the latter as well.

Is it perfect? No. That's part of why I'm posting it. The other part of why I'm posting is because @Giddawid has taken a more active role on the forums, and I had this idea floating around in my head for a while so I just figured 'screw it let's make a post about it'. I'm not expecting it to go anywhere, I'm just throwing it out to see what people think. If you want to come here and ######### on my idea ok, but I'm just trying to come up with alternative solutions to the generic "add another objective" or "punish killers for doing X" sort of thing.

I would like to explain the details of each part, but I'm feeling lazy so if you want to know WHY something is just ask please. I can explain reasons for everything.

Why not camp the first hook and either they come to you and do no gens or they do gens and you get to mori them, yeah seems like a really good plan to stop nothing

You know apart from voice and height and skin, youve literally described every costomized survivor out there.

Freddy might seem like he has the advantage, but his power is based on other's fear of him so he can manifest in their dreams. Leatherface and the Legion are really the only killers I see being overcome by fear. Shape is pretty much unkillable based on his movies, so he might have the advantage in the end. Hard to tell if any other killers share the same resistance to harm since most of them are never truly attacked in the realm.

I’m pretty sure Micheal was defeated in one of the movies because they used his fear against him.

After the last event they still fail to realise people will play the side which it's easier to achieve the points on so naturally the queues will become longer.

This is another reason I don't like playing killer for this event.

We are listening, there are a lot of details involved when it comes to game development and we can't talk / communicate until we have a clear plan.

Here are the steps we are taking / took to react to the Community feedback on the event.

    1. Fix the launch issue - No event progression (2h)
    2. Sent a hotfix for crashes and the false vessel progression for survivors (Next day PC / Friday on PS4 / Monday on XBOX) Console updates take a bit more time because they need to be approved.
    3. While 1-2 were going on we were also busy getting feedback from the Community on the Event itself.
We came up with 4 main points: Not enough progression from the killer side / Not enough offerings in the Bloodweb / Longer matchmaking on survivor side / Not enough Bloodpoint generation from the offerings.
    4. Once the 1-2 issues were fixed, we analyzed data on matchmaking to try and isolate the problem causing the extended survivor queues and rule out a bug.
    5. Then, we needed to chose to push a hotfix and decide what we could include in the hotfix that can match the Community feedback. We chose to change the Killer event progression as well as the Offering spawn rate. (for more details: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/45458/moonrise-event-balance-hotfix#latest)
    6. Today, we are pushing the first balance change to the killer event progression and we hope it will improve the killer's event experience and improve the survivor matchmaking. This update is to the backend so players won't have to download anything.
    7. We are planning the hotfix this week to adjust the spawning rate of event offerings as well as correct the text to match our balance backend changes.

    Hope this helps :)

The rest are bugs and other issues that have been reported to QA.

    Thanks
now can someone close this post please?

So, I have to run around the map doing gens, avoiding your ruin, avoiding your hits, your camping and tunneling yet I manage to finish all 5 gens but door needs to be nerfed because... I haven’t earned it?

you got a lot of perks to help you gain advantage once all gens are finished, make better use of them. They even give you an opening time for gates that you can still alter with such perks but then again I should spend even way more time doing it so you can have a free kill. How about earning something once in a while?

What made you earn a 16 second gate opening time? No one has "earned" anything here.

If you couldn’t kill me during the time I got to complete 5 gens, then you totally don’t deserve a kill, at least not mine, and I earned my escape. But then again you got NOED, you can cheese your way to 4k then

Well, I think you need to stop setting up a strawman here. I could use the same "YOU GENRUSHED AS SWF" strawman against you. If you deserved to escape, there wouldn't be an exit gate timer, you would just be able to leave. I'm saying if it's to stay as an objective, it should be treated as such.

You know what a strawman is right?
You just end up with another stand off to complain about, I just watched the end game with 2 survivors avoiding the gates because they didn’t want to get killed, while Myers was
running between them both, 15 mins until one eventually got caught and the other had found the hatch by then, adding extra time as standard will not really effect survivors but will get killers complaining. I can see the posts now about survivors holding game hostage because they won’t go to open the gates, the reason they have 2 in the first place.

you can use perks to add time to this if the end game is that important for you, if it’s not important enough for a perk slot it’s not important enough to implement it into a survivor as standard

That’s a lot of variations to load and place, all those tiles and rotations, you’d be there all day.

Or the killer could just spawn with it and place it just like the traps get placed.

I never understood why that wasn’t the option to start with to be honest, as soon as they are placed they become active and can’t be replaced, obviously NOED wouldn’t be in this category as that would be abused.

I also don’t think any totems should be lit, they should all be dull and stay that way, there is no need to make them easier to spot for a survivor.

Totems need to have more risk added to them, so that cleansing them causes an effect on the survivor.
  • With the amount of discourse that is going on in every kind of forum I can think of (Steam, Reddit, this one) about the event, you'd think we would get an official statement regarding the queue times and rebalancing the points so that Killers are worthwhile to play.
But nope, we just get another update that, while thankfully, fixes some problems with the event. Still hasn't fixed the core issue with the event. The long wait times.

No one wants to play Killer because Survivors get more points. But Survivors CAN'T get points because no one wants to play Killer. This is ridiculous. I'd expect BHVR to have an official statement regarding this current event. But it feels like they're not even listening.

They probably aren’t doing anything because the “issues” are as normal
inflated and a lot of crying about nothing.

Im not struggling on either side to get matches, or points, and they can see what’s happening with actual data, so they can ignore the crying and see the facts.
