Ah yes the feedback section, because that always works.
If by "works" you mean "the devs immediately do whatever I say", then no, it doesn't. That doesn't mean it's pointless.
Here's how it works:
- Feedback is taken in
- The devs discuss whether or not the issue needs to be fixed (for example, someone could complain that totems are well-hidden, even though that's the whole point)
- The best fix is determined (this is days, maybe weeks of discussions)
- They have to start working on creating and implementing the fix (weeks of work, maybe more)
- They have to test the implementation (again, this is weeks of testing)
- They have to fix the major bugs that QA identified (a few more weeks of work)
- It goes back to QA to be tested again (this is probably a shorter testing period, I'd wager a week, tops)
- Goes to the PTB, if they decide it's necessary
- Goes to live
That's months of work. The devs aren't going to drop everything the instant someone makes a suggestion, they have to take everything into account.

It's all just about been said before, but it's just a non-issue being blown out of proportion. People can argue back and forth on this until they're blue in the face, but if an LGBT+ character was added in, just like any other diverse character it won't impact the typical gameplay one bit. Some would exaggerate and have you think the apocalypse is coming to DBD, but the world will still be spinning, tomorrow will still come, the sky will still be overhead. It's just something that is blown out of proportion on the forums, but in-game, it wouldn't play any different from normal.
Perfectly put.

The more of a big deal this LGBT conversation gets the more anxiety I get about the impending release. Like yo being LGBT is really not THAT big of a deal. Like I feel pretty well represented these days in general as someone who is LGBT, gay marriage has been legal for a really long time (Something I did take advantage of BTW.) We've already dealt with homophobia as a tabboo subject for a super long time now and people are pretty comfortable with it as a whole.
If they're gay they're gay, if they're not they're not. Just get on with it yo. I'm not going to resonnate with a gay character just because they're gay, I'm going to resonate with them because of things I can relate to beyond that. Besides with the power of fanfiction everyone is gay already anyways.
We've already dealt with homophobia as a tabboo subject for a super long time now and people are pretty comfortable with it as a whole.
There are entire groups dedicated to homophobia, racism, and other distasteful things. Just because you no longer experience them on a daily basis doesn't mean they've been solved.

Should we just go silent and pretend these issues don't exist while we debate the sexual preferences of the next survivor? Maybe if there was some communication that would help
No, but you can definitely participate in more than one conversation at the same time. Hell, open up a thread of your own about the game's issues. There's a feedback section for that stuff.

Mhm..and tell me..how many chapters got this much build up..?, how many chapters celebrated the straight nature of characters..? None..like I said..they're going to push too far to make the character stand out but feel fake
This is all the forumgoers' doing, BHVR has nothing to do with it. They released some teasers and made vague comments, that's it. However, a lot of chapters got this much build up. For example, Silent Hill.

No but considering how butchered parts of the game are this needs addressing, not drowned out under the weight of something else. The LGBT character could be done at any point quite easily, these kind of fixes require more work.
More work from a different department. It's a different group of people. Should every department stand down until the programmers have fixed more bugs?

I think it's the fact that it has become so overblown. The game is collapsing under the weight of years of bugs and the developers have mangled 2 maps so badly they play like they were from 2016/2017 and they've proven that they just don't understand how to make good maps. In addition you've got hackers running rampant and a lot of the survivorbase completely ditched the game completely for a few weeks due to desync issues.
But this is all going under the radar right now over the debate of a fictional characters sexuality/gender in a game that features no romance and no real plot.
I think there's a time and a place for the LGBT discussion and characters but right now there are more important issues and there's radio silence from the community managers
The people who work on lore are not the same ones who work on balance and fixing bugs. Those two teams are also (most likely) separate as well.

That's brownie point chasing ..this is for the Twitter mob..which means they'll overdo it and make a bigger deal of it than it deserves to be..and the character will end up half baked as a result..seen it before
No, appealing to a wider demographic is basic capitalism. You want your product to sell, after all.
The character will end up just fine. I'd make a bet with you, but I doubt we'd agree on what "just fine" means in the first place.

That is indeed the reason. When survivors could dodge, they dodged to the point that it broke lobbies. Killers don't dodge nearly as much as survivors did, and when they do dodge, survivors don't have to requeue or anything, so it's fine.

There is straight lore, though. The devs confirmed it and you can quite literally just read it. So why should non-straight lore be excluded? It feels forced to exclude non-straight lore.

No what I meant was If it was a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender characters and it mentioned that they were or it was part of their backstory I'd be okay with it. I'd even be okay if their was slightly feminine-looking man or vice versa. What I object to is purely a drag queen in dbd's aesthetic.
If the issue is that it's too flamboyant, then that ship has sailed long ago. There are a lot of flamboyant outfits in DbD. If the issue is that a man could be wearing women's clothes, then...

Might as well use in-game block exclusively for console players and use steam block for PC users
Neither of those options prevent you from being matched with those players. Whomever "confirmed" this for you was mistaken.
Let me put it as plainly as possible: there is no DbD feature that lets you influence the matchmaker.

Biological family is the only true family, other people are always involved but that doesn't mean they're a part of it. If family is not defined by blood it effectively ceases to exist. There also needs to be a secondary boundary here though or all living beings could be considered family.

Oh David does have a mention of an ex in the tome, and nurse was married. I have pretty much ignored them so I guess you're right about that.
What is up with the legion is...well it doesn't seem like a serious relationship but absolutely could turn into that.

No, it's not, and no, it doesn't. If family is defined in another way, then it simply becomes defined in another way. The notion that adoption is just as legitimate as giving birth doesn't mean that giving birth becomes illegitimate. You perceive it that way because you consider adoption to be illegitimate, but that's a "you" problem.

@[Deleted User] said:
Not entirely sure about LGBT stuff, but isn't being "fabulous" more about gender roles than sexual orientation?
Technically speaking, it's just being flamboyant.
You see, some people are under the impression that clothing needs to be devoid of all color or "fanciness". You can only wear white, gray, brown, black, and so on - "adult" (dull) colors. You can't put on a colorful scarf, you can't wear a t-shirt with a unicorn on it, and so on, because that's "childish" (or "gay", if you're a man). Men in particular have a lot of artificial clothing restrictions, at least when it comes to colors. Other people disagree with this stance and will put on a rainbow scarf with that unicorn t-shirt because they like those things.
Now, some people take it to the extreme and dress up like a walking fashion show. They are very flamboyant, but, thankfully, nobody's forced to stare at them if they don't want to.

Its the colour scheme which is associated to LGBT that have people believing an LGBT character will be added.
Some people will feel a huge swell of acceptance to see someone who is confirmed non-heterosexual added to the game.
Some people will feel hugely disenfranchised to see that others can be accepted and that they are not superior to others based on sex/religion/orientation/race, etc.
The color scheme is the same as the bisexual pride flag's.

Some people have the argument that it doesn't really fix the game's issues such as balancing perks, what needs to be nerfed or buffed which I can understand, and they get called homophobes because of it, they just want the game to be fair and not make overpowered perks or killer abilities. It's great that there's gonna be a LGBT friendly character in the game but what also needs to be looked at is bug fixes, which there are bugfix patches they release here on the forums for everyone to read what's been changed. Personally I have no issue with it, so it's like yay another survivor and possibly a killer too, more content makes the game new and different.
Those people don't get called homophobes, they're simply informed that the people who write the lore don't work in the balancing department.
-
Quite simply to have a "real" family, you need at least 2 people of opposite gender who are willing and able to have a child.
You mean biological family. Adoption isn't fake, and a sense of family goes beyond mere biology.

Then there's the root of the problem. If a player is treated unfair by teammates or killer, they will de-pip regardless. And so why would a survivor want to participate in match that will de-pip them anyway? Why play into a toxic survivor's or killer's intentions. Survivors should not be punished, de-piped, for playing honest and playing harder all to de-pip anyway. There needs to be more incentives or rewards for players not to DC.
The incentive is you get to keep whatever BP you got, because that's the incentive for playing normally in the first place.
If you are playing with/against one or more people who are breaking the rules, then record their behavior and then report them.

If your PC hard resets, that's almost always a hardware issue, likely related to RAM. I know your PC is new, but some pieces have defects. I highly recommend you have it checked out while it's still in warranty. If it turns out it's not your PC, then at least you got it checked out before the warranty expired and can focus on DbD.

Personally, I'd like to see more European ethnicities in DBD. Like there's always that American Italian in media but there's never any Italians outside of immigrants to America. How about Irish? Switzerland ppl's? I barely see Greek ppl either. Never seen anyone from Luxemburg or Belgium. No wonder there are memes saying they don't exist. Then there are the eastern Europeans that are at most shown as impoverished, superstitious folk.
There are memes about everything, don't take them seriously. They're a propaganda tool at this point, TBH.
Putting that aside, this is actually a good point. Most characters (not just in DbD) who are from outside NA are almost always shown as immigrants to NA, or descendants of immigrants. Off the top of my head, I can only think of Adiris, Lisa (Sherwood), and Yui as exceptions, but I'm sure someone else can name more.

If that's take away from this, then that's not right.
Look, there also been times as well where I had longer penalties due to outside interference. I had one crash match DC, but also two neighborhood street internet outages which resulted in two additional penalties. And therefore, the penalties were out of my hands entirely.
How are the devs supposed to tell the difference between you pulling the cord and a bona fide outage?
-
@WestManTooth210 said:

Yes, the penalties reset. But look at it from this standpoint.
If I at 3pm manually DC'ed twice because of bad matches, and at 8-9pm get two match crashes DC's, the longer penalties are not justified.
No, penalties for the game crashing without you doing something to make it crash are not fair. Unfortunately, there are too many dishonest people who'd take advantage of this hypothetical exception to DC whenever they wanted, for any reason, without any drawbacks, so we have to put up with them.
My advice? Don't DC on purpose. This won't be an issue.
-
@WestManTooth210 said:

Hold on. Think about it. The two match crash DC's occurred "after" the bad match DC's. And so, penalty's are longer from match crash DC's. In no way is that justified or fair.
No, that's not how it works. The penalties escalate the more you DC, up to a certain point, and go down after some time. If you hadn't DC'd on purpose, the penalties for the crashes would've been minimal.

I hate when people refer to Steam charts to know how many players are leaving/joining. LOTS of players are from Xbox, PS4/PS5, Switch. I own the game on all three of them and I assure you, if you turn cross-play off and look for a game as killer you won’t believe it. The queue times have never been this long. Yes, people left the game. Much more people than Steam can tell.
Steam is the only one that allows people to check this data, as far as I know. However, there's no reason to believe that players on other platforms are any different from the ones on Steam. Furthermore, if you turn off crossplay, you're only matched with others who have done the same, who are a very small minority. Queue times with crossplay disabled don't mean anything.

I can somewhat understand wanting specific races in a game, but sexuality has no relevance to anything whatsoever. I have a lot of experiences with the LGBT+ community, and most of my experiences, similar to the opinions and statements by people in this thread, had done nothing but cause me to want as little to do with it as possible. LGBT+ these days has fallen into the same extremist issues that liberal politics has had happen to it, which has its own ties to the LGBT+ community itself, in that it's a small amount of people trying to make everything about gender, and trying to force ridiculous things onto people, but when you start to use their own logic against them, suddenly you just hate non-straight people.
But sure, it does go both ways in that people who are racist or people who are offended by anything other than their own sexuality would complain about a character they main being gay or trans, but well, who cares about those people
Nurse has been here for years, where was the outrage about sexuality back then? Also, the slasher genre has been filled with sexuality since forever.

I believe the Dev's expressed not wanting to use any public domain ideas- Such as myths, urban legends, older books. If they decided to take from the public domain we could get killers like Dracula, which I don't think fit's into the theme and general aesthetic DbD has. There would be a whole list they could be taking from. We could get a Lovecraftian chapter, but that would be a bit harder to implement than something as straightforward as Frankenstein's Monster or Dracula.
Yeah, I can kinda agree with that stance. I think that if the devs use the original stories, as written by Shelley, Stoker, etc., nobody will recognize them because they're used to the modern versions and they'll complain that they're not "accurate".

LGBTIQ+ comes with stereotypes. If you just want to mention a char is queer in an archive log entry people won't be satisfied, they want obvious gay looking chars, maybe even genderfluid, drag chars or whatever. And if they make a rupaul candidate a survivor I'm just done with the game. Killers are not a threat anyway but imagine bullying a killer in a drag outfit...
