  • I'm excited for this update. Gen kicking is better and gen tapping is dead. I am interested in trying out both killer updates.

@Peanits is there any update on Blight's "hug tech"?

  • @Seraphor said:

    It's original

    How do you know:(

  • This is what Video Horror Society (a now defunct game) actually had i don't know if people liked it or not though

  • They increased the soft cap last month which means matchmaking may be more precise.

Personally, my experience has been similar as yours. Survivors playing near perfectly every match. Haven't been playing the game as much because i've been finding it exhausting too.

  • @Yoshirama said:

No thanks, distortion is fine, not a perk that you see every match, people just mad because some of their perks are countered.

just say that you want wall hacks all the time

Aura reading perks don't give you wall hacks all the time. They have many limitations.

Which is why i think it's excessive that distortion not only essentially nullifies them but causes them to become a disadvantage because of it hiding scratch marks.

Also, according to nightlight, distortion is currently the 10th most used survivor perk. with 9.12% usage rate. I think it's used more than people think.

  • @Unequalmitten86 said:

The thing with distortion it works with only one person like calm spirit. If you're next to someone who isn't running it, it's useless. Sounds like OP climbed the ranks by doing the minimum and is now finding what the strong SWF's are doing. It's easy to destroy soloq players, even 2 SWF's it's those 4 person SWF'S that are well coordinated and you actually need to work for your wins as killer.

Not necessarily because distortion still hides the player that uses it. The scratch marks allows you to disperse from the player that got revealed near you and killer will have no idea there was another player there.

Sounds like OP climbed the ranks by doing the minimum

I don't know how you would come to that conclusion.

The rest of what you are saying is SWF is better than Solo, i don't think this is relevant to the discussion.

I just think distortion should be nerfed because it makes me not want to run aura reading items anymore. The main concern is that it badly affects perk variety because a large portion of killer items is aura reading.

  • Play TCM if you want an unbalanced asymmetrical game.

I don't want to because as it turns out making a game like this unbalanced leads to uninteractive and very frustrating gameplay. And worst of all, an experience that doesn't feel immersive or authentic.

  • @Quizzy said:

Now that mft is nerfed to the ground, they have set their sights on more perks. Ftp+buckle up and once again distortion. Would yall like it if we just dont run any perks at all? How about we just sit in the middle of the map and let yall hook us to make it easier and fun for you guys! You'd like that huh?

Discussions on what things people think are overpowered are not going to stop. It's necessary for the future development of live service games and dbd is one.

I am not asking people to stop using it... i am making a suggestion to the developers.

I use whatever stuff i want including distortion and then just adapt when changes come and i encourage others to do the same.

  • @jonifire said:

I think it is fine. Making other perks better like lightweight better would be nice.

Lightweight can't really be any better without being broken imo. It already reduces scratch mark duration from 10 to 5. Then makes spacing more inconsistent. I think people just don't use it because you can't see the difference it makes from the killer point of view at the same time.

  • @Halloulle said:

You are not suggesting nerfing Distortion, you are suggesting absolutely obliterating it to the point where it could just as well be removed.

There are some issues with distortion (minor issues, imo, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be addressed) that have become apparent with its increase in usage and in some specific situations. First and foremost it's the whole hide-and-seek-game and the stealth-following the killer to recharge tokens while at the same time never be seen by teamies or the killer.

However, the most glaring issue with Distortion isn't actually an issue with Distortion but with survivor choices. Any survivor who wants to do any of the following has exactly one choice: Distortion.

    a) avoid getting their aura read at potentially any time without any way to tell why or "play around it" as there are so many aura-reading perks and add-ons that it's effectively impossible to tell and thus equally impossible to "adjust your playstyle".

    b) wants to get insight into a killer-loadout, which is very valuable information, e.g. to know if there might be NOED in play or how to deal with certain situations.

    c) want to start a chase on their terms and not be hit with a surprise attack via aura read.

    d) don't want to get two tapped by a Huntress or other ranged or semi-ranged killer who has add-ons that effectively give them wallhacks.

    e) want to use stealth strategically to e.g. unhook, complete a gen, distract the killer, get a fl/fb/sabo save (Awawa) or simply not be a sitting duck when the killer searches for them.

As for how that looks to the killer - same issue, now the other side of the coin - lemme quickly quote myself in some other thread about Distortion:

The biggest issue it [Distortion] has atm is oversaturation from the pov of those who get countered by it. What do I mean? An aura-reading-reliant-build is by no means the norm - but if you do run one you will always notice a player running distortion and that number has gone up over the past year or so. And you will pretty much only see distortion (safe for the odd OTR where it actually hides the aura at a crucial moment) counter your build. So if you run into this whenever you play more than a handful of matches you will get tired of it really quickly.

I would love to see "how to deal with aura reading perks on the killer side" getting expanded to address the points made above regarding why survs pick Distortion in a more specialised way. for a) and b) I would love a perk that mostly adds QoL to SoloQ; if your aura gets read you are informed about it, and so are your teamies (maybe make it in a way where it reveals your aura not just to the killer but to all players, and you yourself get a notification; perk lighing up for as long as your aura is being read). No auras hidden, just informed that it happens. For c) I suppose a cousin of current Distortion could be useful; you have a limited amount of tokens and during the first half second or something your aura is hidden; if you choose to reveal your aura you keep your token, otherwise it stays hidden but you lose a token. (Or for all I care the other way around; that when your aura gets read you can chose to insta-hide it.) d) and e) could get combined again: Your aura only gets hidden if you are within x meters of the killer - and this time around tokens get recharged by game progressing actions; unhooking, healing, doing gens, doing hex-totems. --- Then Distortion as the "allrounder" could also be made harder to maintain; that only recharge during chase or sth along those lines.

I guess we are just going to have to disagree. I believe survivor should not have the choice of doing those things you mentioned.

Also from what i am understanding you are saying distortion is only to a problem for those who use aura reliant and i disagree. I can notice distortion even when i am using one aura item and based on my experience i've decided i am better of not running aura reading at all because of the scratch mark part of distortion and the frequency that i am seeing it.

    b) I would love a perk that mostly adds QoL to SoloQ; if your aura gets read you are informed about it, and so are your teamies

This isn't "quality of life" it's a major advantage and isn't so relevant to solo q. SWF would use it.

You seem to believe distortion should be better and expanded upon.

So yeah i guess we are just going to have to disagree since we seem to have opposite opinion on this.

  • @TSQuint said:

It never ends. Distortion? XD This community, and it doesn't matter if you only play one role or both, basically wants a button to press that instantly wins the match for them. Entitlement is a problem for all online multiplayers but this one is especially worse because the developers yield to nearly every demand no matter how ridiculous and unpopular it is.

Nerf this, buff that, rework this, rework that...at some point it passes entitlement and becomes laziness.

This is what a forum is supposed to be, leave if you don't like it. You're just being close minded.

  • OP i will agree you in that i do think trash talking in this game is very bad. I've played games that people have mentioned here but this game i've had the worst experience with players in it.

I don't know why, but i do think it is.

  • It's worth noting on switch that playtime count resets if you reset your console or get a new one.

  • When i play as killer even just one player with background player and a flashlight can be a major problem to the point where i am running lightborn nearly every game. I definitely hope they get some sort of reduction.

  • I've never heard of this being a thing do you have a video showcasing it or something

  • @Shroompy said:

Like I understand not wanting voice chat in a game because you want to avoid toxicity, but to this day I have not seen a game where disabling VC wasn't an option.

Its just as dumb as people who complain about the endgame chat. Don't like it? just turn it off. Plain and simple.

If they start balancing the game around voice chat then that's when it becomes a problem. Because if you didn't like it at that point then you would have to be at a disadvantage if you'd like to turn it off. I'd prefer the game to be designed how it is now where randoms don't have voice chat so that devs focus on more things like solo q icons.

Texas chainsaw massacre is balanced around voice chat and the game is extremely frustrating when you disable it. You just can't do most things on your own. Communication is essential.

I don't want DBD to become like that.

  • @UndeddJester said:

Kinda stepping on Call Of Brine's toes a little isn't it? Especially as with Lethal you can take this up to 10s.

Gearhead is great on someone like Huntress.

Edit: If it needs buffing, might be nice if Gearhead triggered a (good-only/normal?) skillcheck when a Survivor is wounded too. Anyone on gens gets a warning they have been seen, but still has their aura for 8s, anyone not on gens doesn't know and can still get caught by it normally.

This would mean you could look around when you wound someone and see what's what.

Not sure if good-only or normal would be better. On one hand you gives chances for great skill checks every time you wound... however you also make it less apparent you have Gearhead... not sure which is better.

It doesn't have to be loud noise notification i mean just a noise notifcation that the perk activated. So you would still have to look around to see where the aura is and distortion would still hide it etc

  • I just wonder if something like this would work though because it still means your hex totem could go in like 80 seconds.

Which outfit is that? Looks pretty cool but it doesn't show much.

It's called "Murderous Cat" for the trickster available in the store :)

  • I main killer and i think this new version is out of control. It's overtuned but she is going to be weak otherwise i feel like.

Drones just do so much it's crazy. She is the most hybrid killer ever.

I just don't find her whole character very engaging. Where is the fantasy and immersion.

I really hope one day they scrap her entire ability and make it so she is scouting killer with controllable drone. Like crypto from apex legends. This sounds fun.

  • I like the idea going around of adding a survivor that is not a human. I think they could have a more interesting backstory than a human character possibly could have

  • Same as GeneralV

How's that toxic? I don't think a report saying "you ######### this game up" should be looked into for consequences. However a "you f* piece of #########, I hope you get hooked for real" and stuff like that ... Now that's something else.

Lifting the censorship would increase reporting ... Which could only work if the reports get to be filtered because otherwise it'd be way way way to timeconsuming

Sorry. I did not read what you were saying first correctly

  • Still going the same. Gen times need to be increased. The killers i am playing cannot keep up.

  • I think it's probably going to happen, he is scheduled for "killer tweaks" around june i believe.

I also agree it should happen. It feels like he does not have anti-loop without it.

  • This game is not fair in the first place because it's asymmetrical. Nobody should feel gaslighted by it.

  • i got hated on by other survivors once (about 1 year ago) for having calm spirit and deja vu in my loadout :(

Shouldn't reporting help right there? You can use the same filter they're using now to censor to automatically filter which reports should be looked at and in which the reporter shouldn't be a baby

the reporter shouldn't be a baby

    That's toxic

The Footsteps also play sounds so they can hide his actual footsteps while he gets close. Yeah but Killer stats don't really reflect true Killer power. I mean, before her rework Skull Merchant had the highest kill rate in the game. That's not because she was good, in fact she was pretty trash can tier, but no one wanted to play against a 3 gen merchant so they just instantly gave up on hook. Nurse doesn't have a super high kill rate but I'm sure everyone can agree she is by far the strongest killer in the game. Myers has a 59% Kill Rate but he sure as hell isn't the same power as Blight who has the same Kill rate. So that stat doesn't really matter.

I think there's more factors than just killer strength when it comes to kill rate but i don't think they are meaningless.

Considering chucky is fairly easy to pick up and play i don't feel like there's much that's going to get in the way of players reaching his max capability. (especially since they fixed the turn cap)

Skull merchant having highest kill rate honestly makes sense to me she can basically do everything.

But my main point is that i don't believe chucky is OP at all and i don't think he need nerfs.

    We can agree to disagree.

It would be such a massive disappointment, if this ends up just being a horizontal FoV slider between base FoV and Shadowborn FoV.

Are people going to really tell me, that it's cool to spend a lot of time and effort to create an entirely new Survivor HUD, a visual terror radius, a visual lullaby radius, an anti-face camp mechanic, and an anti-3-gen mechanic........ but killers only get a super fancy slider that only goes up to Shadowborn?

For reals???? Does anyone realize how bad Shadowborn FoV is, compared to other PvP games, because DBD goes by Horizontal FOV values??? The FoV slider should at least have the options to change the horizontal AND vertical FoV values.

You seem to be turning this into a us vs them thing :/

Important to note increased FOV is mainly a quality of life improvement because a lot of people have reported that playing without shadowborn makes them nauseous.

I think anything above shadowborn sounds excessive i mean at some point the vision will look unrealistic.

I think they will always will be. It's the rift colour pallete.

I personally don't like it though. Mainly the fact they are rift exclusive. But then the fact that most of don't look good in my opinion. The colour pallete just won't make sense on a lot of skins.

From the rift just gone though the adam outfit has a really cool detail on the deep rift variant. The cat picture on his jacket has a different background. Deep rift variant has a celestial background and the normal one is a rainbow

Yes but why, why is it so popular via a mobile? I haven't needed to add it to my phone, even with all the added goodies?

Mobile gaming in general is very popular because it's very accessible.

So many people have phones they appeal to nearly everyone because of how versatile they are

Gaming PCs and Consoles are a commitment that only gamers would make

  • Invisible collisions are in pretty much every game i play i think it would be easier to just remove tantrum from colliding. Or at least make it so it doesn't stun you for 5+ seconds. Just making it turn the chainsaw off would be fine.

  • @Orthane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3621601#Comment_3621601

Yeah but Nurse and Blight players will also say they don't feel Overpowered to play as, that doesn't really matter. His power is extremely strong, and the footstep sounds all over the map actually add to his stealth, not detract from it.

True but conversely people that don't play as these killers won't give a damn as to how they feel to play :/

His footsteps sounds are global indicator that tell you if he's in stealth mode or not and that is bad. They can be distracting but there is that downside to it.

At least night light stats support my opinion. His average kill rate is 55% which is lower than the total average kill rate of 56%.

Only saying that because devs factor data into their decisions too and my conclusion isn't soley based on that either.

  • I like backpacks personally but they really need to add a variant/style feature for cosmetics. Most games that have cosmetics have this feature now.

  • Honestly i wish they would remove tantrum because it's extremely irritating and most of the time it happens it feels unfair because it hits invisible collision. His capability is extremely limited so i don't think it would make him overpowered

  • @LeFennecFox said:

i think this is exaggeration to be honest

I'm exaggerating a bit, but the skill:reward ratio is a little skewed.

i don't agree. It only slightly helps with being 4.4m/s. It does not apply to every loop either like Shack

A smaller hitbox is pretty massive there is a reason you can be 115% and 100% survivors run you on nothing besides a rock for 10 seconds.

Scamper is only 0.3 seconds faster, and he is still 4.4m/s and he still has a short power duration and a long power cooldown.

It's not about raw speed, but how scamper adds even more ways to guarantee hits and remove survivors options. He has a demo dash that you can turn with. Wesker pallet vaulting without the long animation and his small model makes it less obvious if you're going for that option. A decent stealth power as well to help with people seeing you early and leaving. You can also do some silly chaining with scamper.

I think he just needs a power shift by reducing his cooldowns then giving some slight nerfs to his power. I played him and it feels like horrible without your power, but when you have it you're very strong. Survivor side he gets his power then it's over with little options to avoid it. Most of the well designed killers that people enjoy playing as and vs have a powerful tool semi often that requires skill and has options for survivors.

    Fair enough

  • @Orthane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3621437#Comment_3621437

Nah Chucky is super unfun and unfair. He has basically every strength mashed into one, 4.4 doesn't matter because smaller hitbox as OP stating + being in 3rd person. I groan every time I have to play against Chucky, he's just irritating and it often feels like he's impossible to loop. Every single pallet EVEN SHACK PALLET FFS is unsafe against him, that's just not fun.

Notice how every other killer that gets Undetectable is tall and obvious to spot? Skull Merchant is super tall, as is Myers, Ghost Face has a very clearly visible mask and noticeable sounds, Demogorgon is super tall and loud, but Chucky is tiny and only makes a chuckle when he's already close enough to hit you.

I still don't think he needs nerfs. He doesn't feel overpowered to play as. 14 second power duration with an 18 second cooldown. And the game tells survivors when he's gone undetectable with the map sounds. Yes chucky can deal with a lot of loops that would otherwise be safe but being 4.4m/s and 32 meter terror radius with short undectable power i think it's justified that he has a good chase power.

He could use some general improvements for both sides sure but i am completely against just nerfing him

BHVR never told us what the max FoV will be. And it would be a massive disappointment, if the FoV slider only goes up to Shadowborn, considering how long it took to create this feature.

If the slider is only going to Shadowborn level, then BHVR could have saved us a bunch of time, and just released a Shadowborn toggle in the option menu, months ago.

I'm pretty sure Mandy has referred to the feature as basekit shadowborn before.

They said it's taking a long time because there's more work they have to do. What that work is idk. Probably adjusting the first person animations because there is a lot of jankiness you can see with some killers.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3621442#Comment_3621442

We were told this will be a fully functioning FoV slider, which is why it took so long to implement. So the teaser could just be a screenshot, from the killer's point of view, of an FoV that currently isn't in the game.

Yes but the maximum FOV is going to be the fov that you currently get with shadowborn.

If you mean them showing the fov change in game with settings. I mean maybe i feel like not many people will find it very interesting since it's more of a technical thing.

I think it's a partner, but still a lot of effort is given to where it shouldn't, need I say anything about charms and other things really not needed to put attention towards, I am not understanding though I guess why the want for mobile?

They confirmed it's a different developer in the most recent AMA

  • Mobile has different developer and they make their own decisions.

Sure they have cool cosmetics but the way you get them is through gambling.

They are more experimental and add things like emotes and prop hunt.

Also, not every license is in mobile. Silent Hill and Resident Evil are not in mobile for example.

What maps are you guys talking about? Temple of Purgation and Rancid Abattoir fit in your examples, these two maps are just one big deadzones with shack, but it's literally two maps.

Eyrie is still pallet heaven, Mother's Dwelling is pretty balanced in terms of loops, Borgo now is one of the most balanced maps in the game imo, same as Cowshed. All new Macmillans are pretty good too. Garden of... you know yourself.

So what is this drama about?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3621404#Comment_3621404

Daaaaamn that's why it's one of the most popular offerings in my games through years, especially after Borgo's nerf. Survivors just want to have balanced map, right.

But, to be fair, survivors love it because of big size and excellent visibility across it, so you pretty much always know where killer is. But on a half of loops it's easy to get a hit on dropped pallet. It's heaven for ranged killers (if they have a really good chases, because it's impossible to control this map on 4,4) and killers with mobility. Otherwise it's a really hard map for killers, especially stealth ones.

    It's just my opinion.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

I just wanted a teaser for the FoV slider. For reals, how was Billy and Ormond a higher teaser priority than the FoV slider?

What would than even look like though it's basically just going to be basekit shadowborn

  • Because max 1 hatches is terrible.

  • extremely easy to use compared to similar killer dashes and almost always guarantees a hit at every pallet.

i think this is exaggeration to be honest

The weakness of 4.4m/s is almost completely invalidated by his smaller hitbox at loops

i don't agree. It only slightly helps with being 4.4m/s. It does not apply to every loop either like Shack

He can chase through windows a lot faster without a power cooldown like wesker.

Scamper is only 0.3 seconds faster, and he is still 4.4m/s and he still has a short power duration and a long power cooldown.

From my experience chucky needs a buff if anything. To me overall he feels almost like a normal killer, his power just makes up for the fact he is 4.4m/s with 32 meter terror radius. I wouldn't mind if devs kept him as he is but i think nerfs should be out of the question

  • Honestly surprised Ormond feels like one of the most balanced maps to me as killer player. Interested to see what they will do anyways.

  • They changed MMR and so tunnelling is happening more. I think DS most of the time only delays tunnelling slightly but rarely it can cause killer to drop chase.

    Define "acceptable results"

Match results that i can be happy with. It's not always the same and it depends on the factors.

It would be easier for me to define results that i feel are unacceptable.

I think running my best possible loadout on a killer and trying my absolute best and getting like 0-2 hooks. That feels unacceptable because that just makes me feel like that killer is completely hopeless.

  • I tried to do this first with Friends Til The End but it wouldn't work when killing survivors on hook. But it worked afterwards when i unequipped it

1 … 34 35 36 37 38 … 64
