Yes. I like the games. I like his voice lines and appearance. Enough reason for me and he will be required for tome challenges i think.
I will probably buy every chapter for as long as i am playing because i would like all characters, the game feels incomplete seeing the darkened portraits at the bottom of the list. Even if some characters are trash and i never play them. I find it easier to buy them than to not.

Maybe unpopular opinion but I really don't care about Alan Wake and I don't know why its being pushed everywhere and so hard
It's not an unpopular opinion. It's critically acclaimed, so it's a hot topic for the industry which is why journalists talk about it a lot and why collabs are happening.

Got the games in a sale a few weeks ago. Haven’t played them yet and am kinda excited.
Dont know why it got so many ‚haters‘ that don’t even know anything about it? From everything I know about it, it’s a pretty good fit for DbD.. and getting a killer added later would also be a good precedent. (Though I think L4D will still not be considered to get new content because no monetary gains, right?)
I am happy about Alan Wake DLC but i can understand why people are disappointed. It wasn't a popular request. I personally never heard of Alan Wake until i saw it on PS Plus monthly games. I think most people did not play Alan Wake 2, considering the first one was in 2010.
A lot of people don't find his appearance appealing as a skin and his perks are not popular. So if you don't like or know or are not interested in Alan Wake then you probably won't like this DLC at all. I think a lot of people are in that position.

It’s not like the devs decided to now bring Alan Wake over another license… like.. it’s not ‚either or‘, it’s just one addition that is not taking a spot as we don’t really have finite spots at this point…
The DLC being something that a lot of people don't like means they have to wait longer for one they may like. We don't know when the next standalone survivor will be so for people that want Elvira or maybe another real life survivor, they don't how long they will have to wait.
-
No. It's not appealing.
-
Onryo change doesn't help against players that tunnel off the hook. It only helps against killers that seek out unhooked survivors after moving away from the hook. It encourages you to not give unhooked survivors that chance. I don't like the change. Condemned cooldown didn't feel necessary to me, because if you teleport to every TV for codemned, you turn them all off and the less map you cover with each one you turn off so on the PTB this didn't feel like something worth doing.
The cooldown add-ons for hillbilly seem very bad too me. On the ptb his miss cooldown penalties already got reduced a lot, it's shorter and his movement speed is not as slow when missing. There was a lot of complaints that dodging his attack didn't feel rewarding and this change is only going to make those concerns worse. So i feel like they weren't listening in regards to that. In regards to the other add-ons. The common feedback i saw was that the function of the add-ons weren't appealing, not the fact their numbers were low. Maybe this change will make them more appealing anyways but it still feels like they missed the mark there.
I am personally fine with everything else though. Perk changes seem fine. I think the blight add-on changes seem fine.
I am surprised about them keeping the grim embrace and dead mans switch combo, but they do bring up a good point, you do have to bring 2/4 perks for it. I think them waiting to see is a smart but unpopular move.
Looking forward to playing the update.
-
I agree but devs have already said in a q and a before that they don't think it's worth the investment. There needs to be a lot of demand for it to make it worth it and i am not sure if enough people are interested.
-
Sadly trickster has kind of fell off for me. It's back to feeling like how trickster was originally when his knives took 8 laceration, his power doesn't feel worth using most of the time.
4.6m/s and no recoil were great changes that made him much less frustrating to play but his power feels weak again. Except for main event but survivors are getting better at playing around it now.
Not sure what to suggest but i hope to see more changes for him in the future.
-
I agree it's flawed design but i don't want it to be changed. It's really not fun to go against flashlights. Background player makes avoiding it normally extremely difficult now and going against 4 flashlights is just really annoying, you get blinded at every pallet stun. Franklin's Demise and Overwhelming Prescence are not good enough counters.
At least that when the killer brings lightborn because of flashlights, that's 1/4 perk slots took up. So it's not like bringing flashlights was completely pointless.

So what playstyle is left for killers? Patrolling and kicking gens was a joke before. The reason killers tunnel is because it's the last playstyle that works, and the devs are working on removing it
The reason survivors gen rush is because it's the last playstyle that works. The reason all their perks are the same
Because nothing else feels impactful, both groups are locked into a "this is the only way" mindset, especially at high mmr. The devs are nerfing options out of the game with the upcoming 3gen solution, and survivors are, by the loudest majority, demanding basekit decisive strike to nerf killers even more
Nerfs don't feed fun, they don't feel good. Buffs open options like we should have, especially since it'll shake up the meta instead of making it even worse than it is now
They aren't the last playstyles, they are the best playstyles, people will always do what's optimal. It's not like the game will ever get to a point where both sides can't win, that's not possible. Also we don't know devs are working on removing tunnelling. They haven't said anything like that recently, people complain about tunnelling all the time.

In case of misunderstanding: I mean the medkit nerf, that came with the COH nerf.
Completely disagree they are terrible designed. There shouldn‘t be any difference between healing yourself and a teammate, besides of addons. Also you should be able to heal yourself multiple times with a purple medkit (without making a build around it). Right now there is no significant difference between grey and purple.
I think medkits having better altruistic speed is good design because it encourages team work and that leads to more interesting gameplay. I think medkits being capped to 2 self heals max is fine.
-
It's not about "locking playstyles out" it's about reducing their effectiveness and fixing the frustrations people have with it.
Nerfs are and should be higher priority. Buffs are lower priority because you can avoid the frustration of weak items by simply not using them, you can't choose to not go against things that frustrate you.

There is also no reason to use a higher tier medkit right now, because there is no difference. They should undo the medkit nerf.
They absolutely shouldn't undo the medkit nerf, they were the best item in the game by far since release. They are much more in line now and better designed.

It would be pretty simple to make it so it only applied to survivors who have had 2 hook states already.
This is the change i would want. I think removing the ability for myers to kill without a mori completely would be a shame.
-
at the cost of no longer granting the self-heal action.
That's a huge nerf. I always just bring the highest rarity medkit i have with charge add-ons and then use to heal someone else or myself depending on the situation, i like the flexibility it has.
I don't really think there is a problem, it's not like there is a reason to use lower tier medkits if you already have a higher tier one.

As @GeneralV already said, there were things that had to be changed, but they went to far with other stuff. Not everything was perfect by any means. But if you ask me, 2018-2020 was still the best years this game ever had. I would gladly take that version instead of what we have now. If they change just a few of the BS things like Insta Heal or Mori, it would have been close to perfect.
but they went to far with other stuff
Can you give some examples?
-
I only played since 2021 but i don't really understand how people can think old dbd (i am thinking 2017-2019) was a better designed game. I can understand enjoying the game more, but i can't understand thinking it was a better made game.
I wasn't playing then as i said but i have done research.
There was loads of overpowered things like 1 hook moris, decisive strike not having the deactivation conditions, object of obsession.
Map balance looked bad to me. Pallets were everywhere and there was a lot of crazy window loops. Nurse and Spirit were stronger.
The atmosphere i guess i can understand.
-
Moving the cursor over menu items stutters the screen, switching menus causes (up to) several long second freezes, and PC players being able to move a couple seconds before I can when the game pans around the characters at the start of the match are the most glaring issues. My hitbox is a foot and a half behind me at any given time. I get hit at the tail end of a pallet animation, or after vaulting a window; even after getting prompts to use a flashlight or drop a fire cracker.
Unfortunately this happens to me as well on PS5 and PC. Minus the loading in late.
Hitboxes are not accurate in the game, it's to be expected and everyone is always complaining about them. It's because they are designed to work with a variety of different looking characters. Like, the killer weapon hitbox is designed to work with Huntress axe and Legion's knife at the same time.
I do know PS4 in general suffers from lower frame rates and stuttering nowadays but DBD is naturally janky. If you think the game feels more fair on higher end hardware i think you'll be disappointed. Yes you have more capability with better performance but everyone is subject to the hitboxes and other players latency.

Maybe one day we can also get Mr. Scratch as a killer or as a killer skin.
Isn't Scratch in the rift? I haven't finished Alan Wake 2 but people are saying that this is scratch.
-
I'm not a fan of just making it a meta perk again. They do not want it to be meta, it's why they nerfed it.
Making it meta again is just moving backwards on the tunnelling issue.
They need to address tunnelling with a base game change.
-
He shall release uroboros
-
I don't think it will be popular either but i personally like the design of it. I find the fact it shows up to 7 generators at once helpful as well as chests. You can plan ahead and it allows your team mates to do the same. The increased totem speed can help even though it's a small increase but there's more times where totems get cleansed at the very last second than people realise and this makes this happen even more.
I like the design because it's inspired by the yellow paint in the alan wake games. The yellow paint in the games is revealed when you shine a light on it and it usually guides you towards your objective or something that may help you like extra items. This boon perk in dbd does the same, shows you your objective, generators, and chests which have items. I really like that.
-
I am slowly playing through Alan Wake 2 atm. It's really good, i think it's many more times engaging than the first game.
-
Bad perk. Even when you pull it off survivors will just leave the exit area and hide. That's if you pull it off, which won't happen against players that know it exists and distortion will tell you if killer has blood warden as well.
It might get you a kill if you hook near the exit gates to quickly punish and you can make it so egc kills everyone but you have to to kill someone halfway of the timer and they can leave way before than.
It's a fun perk but it's weak and hardly practical. I would like to see it improved somehow.
-
I don't like her really.
Character is fine, default appearance could have been more interesting but she has some good cosmetics at least.
Chase music is alright now
Gameplay on both sides is boring, drones do so much near automatically for the killer. Probably the most annoying aspect is the 8 second undetectable on a 10 second drone cooldown. Then she gets haste if a survivor gets claw trapped and at loops you will eventually get hindered and marked with killer instinct. You are also on the radar for like 7 seconds if you hit a beam. It does way too much just from placing a drone.
It's just uninteresting, her power is just stat boosts and debuffs.
-
Yeah. Since early december my matches on killer have become a lot harder. Survivor feels about the same for me. I'm not playing much because the effort to win is not worth it anymore. Before this though matches were too easy, so it's not good either way really. I'm just waiting for Alan Wake and the Rift to come out so i can focus on that.
-
by Baba Yaga do you mean John Wick?
-
I like xenomorph but his tail hitbox is extremely frustrating so i am barely playing him
-
I like to use Enduring on chucky because i find avoiding stuns as him is more difficult than other killers
-
I love chucky in this game. The power design makes him feel just like how he is in the movies. The voice lines are brilliant. Initially i thought maybe he needs shorter cooldown/longer power duration but after more experience i think it's fine and he seems pretty well tuned for now.
Things that i do want changing though :
He has some really weak add-ons that i believe to be generally unpopular : Plastic Bag, Mirror Shards (maybe if it was common, it would be ok), Running shoes, Electric carving knife (both this and the running shoes, they both feel like they don't make a difference) as well as silk pillow (the downside is so massive for what feels like a minor benefit)
Also, scamper cancel should be patched out.

Here it's a fault on my part for not specifying what I'm focusing on - I know I proposed banning such players in the original post, but that was more part of my venting. What I want to achieve is addressing the tunneling, and protecting survivors from having a miserable match.
Usually when I make a post on tunneling, I don't focus on banning players, I just want it to be addressed. I propose suggestions like "if a person has been hooked 2 times, and no-one else has, then you could make the person invulnerable until at least 1 other survivor has been hooked once". Or make it so DS disables killer's powers for x seconds, so DS isn't useless against Nurse, Slinger etc.. To me it sounds very reasonable, manageable, and protective of a survivor player who just can't shake off a bully. And people just tend to defend the tunneling and put down my ideas.
I don't know if you have ever been in a position of playing as survivor and getting tunneled out at 4-5 gens left for no good reason. Trust me on this, it feel absolutely awful. Especially when you've just used a limited time BP offering for everyone and it got wasted. It really makes me want not to play the game ever again. I may have got tunneled out in this match because the killer had a rough last match and 4 people escaped and bm-ed them. But that was not me who did it. You know? 😢
I may have got tunneled out in this match because the killer had a rough last match and 4 people escaped and bm-ed them. But that was not me who did it. You know? 😢
I already said this but just because you got tunnelled doesn't mean they tried to ruin your experience or they are trying to get revenge, it can and i think often means they are just trying to win. Yes it does happen because killers are salty but it doesn't really make a difference, it's still not against the rules either way. It's still the survivors job to deal with these things by using perks and taking protection hits.
I would be fine if devs introduced a solution to tunnelling one day as long as it doesn't harm the average killer experience. Like the new 3 gen system. But your suggestion sounds nuclear, making survivors invincible removes fear from the game, new killers wouldn't understand why a survivor is invincible, keeping collision on the survivor would be abusable, letting them do things like gens and pallet save would also be abusable but if you don't let them do any of that how would they get out of that state.
I'm pretty sure devs have tried lots of solutions to tunnelling, but don't make it to live because they find problems with it after testing.
When i play survivor tunnelling doesn't bother me. It usually happens when survivors get unhooked too early so i like to use kindred and reassurance. If i get tunnelled anyways, i got killed, it is what it is. It's the same as losing in any other game, i just go next.

Tunneling is not a "strategy". It's a lazy technique use by players very weak in chases, hunting, anticipation, patrolling, and well, everything that makes a good killer.
I think i'll keep calling it a strategy

I understand what you mean. But why don't you guys help me change this? I am all up for Buckle Up rework and Corrupt Intervention basekit. Let's help change both of the "evils", instead of justifying 1 with another. I don't think the tunneling problem should be ignored just because survivors have equally unfair "weapons" in their kit. I think both sides should be addressed. And they are not likely to get addressed, if you guys keep basically saying "it's fine as it is". Let's make this game a better experience for both sides, instead of pretending that everything's okay.
I am not saying any of that i am saying banning players is not the way to solve these problems.

It didn't happen randomly. The killer actively pursued me. I remind you, I did not bring a survivor sided map offering, and I did not BM. I even did not get a flashlight/pallet/sabo save on anyone, nor did I attempt it. If there is no punishment for this, then it will keep happening. Help me change this game for the better.
I know that survivors also have unfair stuff (like FTP + Buckle Up), but tunneling should not be defended by this. Instead of justifying/defending 1 evil by the existence of another, and keeping both intact, let's change both.
You got tunnelled. Tunnelling is a strategy to win, eliminating survivors as fast as possible slows the game down. It's explicitly not against the game rules. Just because they tunnelled you doesn't mean they tried to ruin your experience, it could just mean that they were trying to win. Survivors using combos like ftp and buckle up are just trying to survive, they are not doing anything wrong.
Banning for that is unfair because they are doing their job, killing survivors. Tunnelling being unfun to play against is the game's fault in my opinion.
-
You got killed early, it happens. Saying the killer should be banned for doing that is ridiculous.
-
The skins that get put into the rift come back to store after a minimum period of 6 months. The charms and deep rift variants don't come back though unfortunately.
Tomes can be done at any time so there's no FOMO there.
I personally think we should be thankful that this game doesn't exploit FOMO as much as it could.
The two other games i play, Overwatch 2 and Fortnite. They put FOMO to the max. Battle pass and event skins don't return and there is daily shop rotations and other things too.
I can't blame the industry for doing it because it keeps players engaged and that keeps games alive.

I think it's obvious that it's been a part of his kit for a long time, but they're afraid to say it outright because they know it's going to be "oh no, it's end of the world" posts from survivors.
Remove hugtech also will affect this character a lot in different ways, and i think they don't want to touch things that already work fine. And it's right.
Yeah this makes a lot of sense
-
Same i also think you should get a bloodpoint event if you escape or stop exit gates from being opened. Like 25k bp and call it "Adaptive Killer/Survivor"
-
No, players shouldn't be able to matchmake for themselves, they will always choose matches that favour them. TCM showed player levels for a while at launch and once you became lvl 99 the game essentially became unplayable because everyone would dodge you, they have to remove it.

Skull merchant needs a nerf more but blight's add-ons have remained a problem for far longer. Since his release pretty much which was 3+ years now.

Yeah it's probably over now. I think twitch drops are replacing it. Once they announced last year that all the drops until december are only bloodpoints it just went to show that they didn't want to commit resources like cosmetics into amazon prime anymore.

@Nick said:
They answered this same question but then about Boon perks some time ago in their Q&A.
They want to keep the new perks close to the killer, they have to make sense lore wise. So in case they can fit that into a scourge or boon perk they will release one. But their aim isn't to create more scourges just to create more scourges.
(Not my opinions)
That makes a lot of sense
-
The Dredge. I could imagine a slender man type game with dredge. He can pop out of lockers across the map and if you take too long the map will go dark.
Also to make it even cooler. His appearance wouldn't be his default but it would randomly generated based on the objects on the map.
-
Because it feels unfair. Because if you don't do all the totems you are hit by basic attack in the endgame you can be dead. You can prevent it by doing all the totems but nobody wants to do that out of fear like 1/110 killer perks. It takes a lot of time too so it's risky to do.
That's why i personally find it unfair but that doesn't mean i think people should stop using it. It's well within the game rules to do so and the developers have even said they are happy with how it works so it is what it is. People will be horrible to you in this game no matter what you do really so i choose to not make their problems mine because it's not fun for me if i do that.
