  • You don't need to worry about getting banned.

Disconnects are automatically tracked and penalised through a temporary matchmaking lock (seen in the first picture).

As for the issue you've encountered, this has been happening for months but is worse as of late. It's been reported many times on the forums, Reddit, Twitter, etc. so hopefully they're working on fixing it ASAP.

  • Why are the devs so afraid of implementing server authority for hits?

The game does technically have server-side hit validation, it's just poorly implemented from what I can gather. When a hit gets queried the system checks the distance between killer and survivor, but doesn't factor in things like objects in the way. Which leads to a lot of janky hits slipping through that the server really should've rejected.

This is the only game I play that rewards lag in 2024!

Same here. It's not acceptable and needs addressing. VPNing has become increasingly common over the years to exploit DbD's poor handling of high-ping players. I see it at least once a day.

  • Honestly the best thing DbD has done in a long time.

It's so simple but I'm having a blast playing it.

  • Thematically, I like the concept, but @Crowman is right.

  • No idea. She was a perfectly good killer beforehand. Now she's pretty overtuned in the right hands IMO.

  • And make the menus even more laggy than they already are? I'd rather not.

If people want to tailor the items they're getting, they can just level manually.

So you only get the MFT Endurance when you heal someone while you yourself are injured?

    Yes

  • MFT is only active when you're injured.

FTP can only be used when you're healthy.

By design, these perks can never be activated at the same time.

  • Friendly reminder that this issue has still not been fixed.

    image.png

Currently have a 4 minute penalty because of it and I don't really want to keep playing and risk it getting higher. Very annoying :|

  • Just the “Wesker effect” IMO.

By that I mean some survivors are just bored by how popular he is right now.

  • You’re right and you should keep saying it.

  • The concept isn't inherently problematic, but the current numbers are. 200% for 5 seconds is enough to traverse like half of a map. Either the speed needs knocked down a little or the duration does IMO.

  • This is a huge improvement. Very happy that they actioned this so quickly.

How have your matches been since the event started? Mine have been pretty terrible. It might just be me playing worse than usual but I'm currently on a 17 loss streak across different killers, escaped only 1 of 7 solo queue matches I played and struggle with the event visuals. So my matches have not been very enjoyable overall.

Also, why does everything have to be red? It's like every map got the Borgo eye sore treatment. Scratch marks - red. Blood - red. Auras - red. Event stuff - red. I see - red.

    struggle with the event visuals

I completed the first page of the event tome yesterday and those were the only matches I played.

Theres too much going on visually and I it’s straining my eyes trying to play, especially killer. Everything looks like scratch marks from a distance. I feel like this event was poorly planned out.

I think you would be shocked how much stuff is actually AI you just dont know it. I almost guarantee you play 1 or 2 games that used AI in it.

    I highly doubt that.

  • True. I don’t play her enough to warrant buying it though.

I was really looking forward to Ace’s but oh well.

  • Generative AI is unethical IMO. I wouldn't want them to use anything an AI produced.

  • @Pulsar said:

I mean, the skins are good.

That ends the good stuff about the event

Yeah the skins are cool, but I'm not buying them on the principle that they're sets so honestly this event is doing nothing for me.

  • @Pulsar said:

Revert her back to the power design phase. Give her something strong and fun to do.

This is what they should've done way back when she first came to her PTB instead of wasting all of this time reworking and tweaking her just for her to still be awful.

Until they scrap her kit and give her something new to work with, she's always going to be a hated character.

  • This is severely disappointing so far.

  • Yep. I pointed this this out in a feedback thread during the PTB, hoping it was just an oversight that would be fixed for the live release, but nope.

Another reason to just not use this perk to be honest.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

I totally get it. Even as someone who mains a tp character such as onyro, I get disoriented too. I’m certain they do this on purpose. It’s even done with dredges remnant and you have to use a brown addon to correct it.

Onyro pops out of the tv and if I wasn’t exactly paying attention to the direction of the aura of where the tv is facing and I tp? I need a sec to gain my barrings plus make sure nobody is hiding being the tv lol

Even as someone who mains a tp character such as onyro, I get disoriented too

    Same here!

She's my most played killer but I still find myself getting caught off-guard sometimes when popping out of a TV.

  • I think a lot of people pick her because survivors give up against her.

Almost every time I see Skull Merchant it’s the same shtick of anonymous mode and playing in the most offensive way possible. Like obviously not every Skull Merchant is like that, but if you’re someone who is specifically out to ruin peoples’ games then who is more appealing than the one killer everyone already hates?

  • Probably Ace's.

The rest are cool but Ace's is the best IMO.

  • Can't speak for anyone else, but I just find him very boring to play.

Scamper allows you to follow survivors under pallets and around loops until you are guaranteed a hit. Why try anything interesting with his dash (that you have a higher chance of messing up) when you can reliably get a hit by just using scamper to follow survivors in circles?

Same problem I have with playing Skull Merchant. I feel like he just doesn't require any real skill or input from me beyond the basics.

  • I actually think this would be a great buff.

  • Yeah noticed this too. It’s bothersome because I like to tab out and write while I’m searching for a match, waiting for loading etc. But now that you can’t hear the intro sound you need to be constantly tabbing back in to check the game hasn’t started.

  • Both sides have bad perks.

I don’t like to make these things a competition but I’d argue the worst survivor perks are worse than the worst killer perks.

Stuff like No Mither, Technician, Weaving Spiders, Calm Spirit often provide negative value. But playing with Hangman’s Trick is just playing without a perk, not playing with an additional detriment.

The survivor VA is also (technically, though I don't know if they identify as it themselves) trans so I don't think every bridge has been burned just yet.

    Hopefully not 🙏

BHVR have always been strongly pro-LGBTQ+ so I’m hopeful this won’t deter them.

I do think it might unfortunately lead to them setting future Unknown cosmetics though. I guess time will tell.

Slugging is not a bannable offence, at least not on its own.

If, say, a person is intentionally targeting the same people repeatedly across matches to ruin their experience then it becomes bannable. Or if they're blatantly going into matches saying stuff like “I’m going to grief/troll/harass these people” then a report would probably be warranted.

But opting to bleed survivors out as your primary method of killing isn’t bannable. Boring, yes. But bannable, no.

I realise I only answered half of your question, and for some reason I can’t edit my original comment so I’ll follow up here.

The game’s rules can be found here.

And DbD support can be found here. They have a little chat bot that you can use to open tickets pertaining to player reports, bugs, etc.

I'm wondering if some of the playerbase approached her and convinced her she'd been duped or something, and BHVR of course had to assure her that no, that wasn't their intention. I just hope this situation doesn't stop the team from giving more opportunities to trans actors (who notoriously struggle to break out in the entertainment industry). It's hard because BHVR have been able to more or less curb major leaks recently and obviously keeping most of their employees in the dark is how they did it. Obviously the VA was not aware of why she was kept in the dark (or she was but some players have convinced her it was something more nefarious). It seems things are clear to her now and she wants the furore to calm down now.

I just hope this situation doesn't stop the team from giving more opportunities to trans actors

The damage is already done IMO.

  • It's absolutely awesome! I'm so happy they included it.

A series of now-deleted tweets (@zoeyalexandria9, https://twitter.com/Zoeyalexandria9?t=-YlvNOXjL98Xm4nSgC0MPg&s=09) that I do not possess Screenshots of, so I'm afraid you're going to have to trust me.

But I do have proof that she didn't know what the model would be

    https://fxtwitter.com/Zoeyalexandria9/status/1768085488508751958?t=5TJg-TZcqyoCBIBKKMmuAg&s=19

And she would've let another take the role had she known exactly what the role would've entailed to stop herself from feeling so dysphoric.

The comments about her mental health suffering because of it, and the transphobic backlash, I do not have evidence for anymore.

    Thanks

She's also said that she had no idea the killer would look like this and if she'd known the amount of transphobic vitriol that would spawn from it (there was no model at time of recording) she never would have taken the role so, yk, bad feelings all around for everyone affected by some anti-trans #########.

    what is this even about?

Some people here on the forums, X, TikTok, and YouTube have been saying that the Unknown's cheerleader and gardener skins (which have more feminine features than Unknown's default cosmetic) are transphobic and/or being abused by transphobes. A vocal minority have called for them to be removed, or made into linked sets so you can no longer mix and match the masculine and feminine frames from different Unknown skins.

Last time a cosmetic caused this mutch controversy it was Leatherface's Smartface cosmetic and BHVR ultimately made the decision to completely remove the cosmetic from the game. OP is asking for the cosmetics not to be adjusted.

  • Please. We do not need a repeat of last time.

I think an easy fix to this is make each genders body parts sets so they can't be misused for harassment

make each genders body parts sets

Yeah only if they issue refunds to everyone who bought the cosmetics.

If these get setted and my cute Unknown gardener outfit gets ruined I'm going to be so upset.

  • EDIT: I left a comment explaining some further thoughts but after some thinking realised I've changed my mind about some things mentioned. Just ignore this lol.

You don’t need to educate me about something I’ve experienced.

apparently, I have to. Also your experience is not the only valid one.

The things at the top of the priority list should be what is going to benefit the majority of the player base.

Well, no? Only catering to the majority of a group is not the right approach. Also I never said it needs to be at the very top of the priority list at all - and I don’t think that was the topic at hand?

with that argumentation, FoV slider should never have come or any other accessibility option. And I am really happy that BHVR is not a company only trying to please the majority.

Also, never has anyone said these other accessibility settings should be lower prioritized.. but by your own argumentation they shouldn’t be addressed at all so you kinda contradicted yourself there..

    apparently, I have to

Huge yikes. Like actually just… yikes.

  • The skins are perfectly fine. Can we stop with this.

a phobia is not just something someone finds scary. I don’t suffer from any kind of phobia and still enjoy horror media just fine. I don’t need to exclude someone who suffers from an irrational fear of a certain thing when this certain thing is not defining of the video game to begin with.

and taking away dev time is also a bad argument since this can be use against literally anything.

see for example people complaining about cosmetics when there are bugs. Sure, there are bugs but different devs work on different things and even if you put all resources into quality assurance, you won’t get rid of all bugs and you will lose on other things such as income or reputation.

also, it is NOT a lot of work as far as we know. You just need to adjust skins/audio client sided which to some extent is already possible. It certainly depends on which phobias they want to tackle (Plague would be harder as Clown) and what they want to adjust - eg you can argue that addons/Moris are mostly avoidable already so that people can ‚ignore‘ them without having to dodge the whole match. And they don’t need to do everything all at once.

a phobia is not just something someone finds scary

You don’t need to educate me about something I’ve experienced.

and taking away dev time is also a bad argument

It’s not though. Developer bandwidth is limited and therefore they need to triage what gets their attention. The things at the top of the priority list should be what is going to benefit the majority of the player base.

With this game lacking the very BASIC accessibility options, I don’t think it’s justifiable for them to spend time implementing phobia modes for the time being.

Like we don’t even have a brightness slider or dark mode for flashlight blinds — stuff that’s actually very easy to implement and would help SO many people.

Once they have that out of the way, by all means address the more complex/niche stuff. But for now I don’t think it should be a priority.

  • Unfortunately we’re probably not going to get cross progression for the foreseeable future.

It’s very, very likely that third parties are being obstructive to BHVR implementing cross progression.

  • @Mooks said:

Oh look. People who don’t understand phobias and think a horror game shouldn’t have accessibility settings that would literally affect no one but would make the game more accessible to some people. 🙄

obviously, not all possible phobias can be covered and aren’t feasible (ie Haemophobia, Aichmophobia, Ornithophobia) but if it only affect one single character/killer and can easily be fixed with an OPTIONAL setting then WHY not?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3651177#Comment_3651177

A videogame can be used for this, sure. Though it should be in the hands of the one affected how and when they want that.

horror media is definitely not all about this.

accessibility settings that would literally affect no one

The whole "why are you against it when it won't affect you" argument doesn't really hold up. Yeah, the implementation of phobia modes wouldn't directly affect anyone else. But it would have indirect impacts on the rest of the playerbase because it diverts developer time, money, and resources away from other things.

It already takes the developers an enormous amount of time to do anything in this game. Like even basic features like search bars and FoV took ~7 years for us to get. And they were wanted by a large portion of the playerbase for a very long time.

Implementing phobia modes is much more work than people make it out to be. They'd need to give Plague neutral SFX, censor her sick animations, censor the survivors' sick animations, censor her mori, censor any offending add-ons. And then rinse and repeat for Clown, Doctor, and other common phobias etc.

It's a LOT of work for something that is ultimately pretty niche.

horror media is definitely not all about this

Also I disagree with this take. IMO the entire point of horror is to externalise the things we find scary and work through them in a way that is safe and entertaining.

  • @Blueberry said:

We keep getting forced into all running the same few perks on every killer as all the other ones get nerfed. Like I ran stbfl on multiple killers but since the nerf it's just not worth anymore to me. I had a few killers that I ran off meta perks with since it fit a unique play style for them..but those killers like Onryo got nerfed..so now it's back to just running the same perks as every other killer.

I'm not sure. STBFL was definitely nerfed too harshly and should be looked at again. But killers still have loads of great non slowdown options. Spirit Fury, Enduring, Brutal Strength, Bamboozle etc. for chases. Ultimate Weapon, BBQ and Chili, Nowhere to Hide, etc. for tracking.

    killers like Onryo got nerfed

Onryō is in the best spot she's ever been in IMO. Sure, she has a few rough edges (like survivors seeing TV auras in chase) but for the most part I'm finding her fun and well-balanced.

  • @Sandt1985 said:

If the slow down gets an across the board nerf AGAIN, then gen times need to be increased again. Its really that simple

Why though? Are current generator times really such an issue?

Bear in mind that I play mostly weaker killers (Onryō, Pig, Hag, Twins etc.) and I never find myself needing more than 2 slowdown perks to do well. I usually use either Pain Res and Pop or Pain Res and Jolt and then either two tracking or chase perks. There's really no need for stacking four slowdowns, especially on a strong killer like Wesker.

Plus, most of the problematic generator speed stuff on the survivor side has been nerfed and then some.

  • I'd rather they keep these sort of collabs as a once in a while novelty thing, not something they do consistently. I'd prefer they put more focus on original cosmetic collections.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think everyone should take a step back and address the obvious: should a player drop a health state from being scanned by a passive rotating beam in a PVP game? Like, at least Plague has to aim something. SM is such a bad power design. It's auto pilot.

Yep. I don't understand how people aren't getting it.

Skull Merchant plays herself. There's no real skill component to her power.

  • This is probably me missing something obvious, but what is VCPT?
