I started playing today since the rank reset and I'm tired of survivors sending me to this map since it's heavily survivor sided, I don't mind azarov, mcmillian and whatever but ormond? Hell no, it's so boring and poorly designed.

Unfortunately we won't know until the next update :/

Explain why in more than majority of games ruin undying hasn't even popped by the time two people are dead.

You can't deny ruin undying isn't very strong, why else would literally every streamer and majority of killers be running it? You don't even need to think as much whilst running it. Just chuck on two perks and you don't need to worry about gen regression, you don't need ot worry about taking too long to down someone cause ruin wiil just negate any longer chases which survivors may have with killers.

Yes DS unbreakable bt and that are strong, but gamebreaking? Seriously? Most of survivor's "busted" perks are actually designed to counter scummy killers and scummy plays: camping, tunneling and slugging exessively.

I don't want to get into the ds unbreakable argument cause it seems that's the only method people have of distracting from the insanity of ruin undying but i'll leave you on this one, would you rather have the old ds/bt and exhaustion back?

The first point is just anecdotal.I could ask you why in the majority of my games ruin and undying is gone with 4 survivors left alive.

Never denied that that isn't a very strong combo.

And what's even wrong about this? You still have to pressure people of gens, down them AND defend your totems. And you still have be fast at downing them because otherwise you may have saved that 1 gen but lost 3 other gens in the process.

When did i call survivor meta perks gamebreaking?I called them game changing.Huge difference between both.

As much as you dislike it but slugging, camping and tunneling are part of the killers objective. And those perks are designed to hinder the killer doing that

Similiar to that the Ruin and Undying combo exist to make it harder for survivors to complete their objective as well.

Your last point doesn't add anything to the discussion.I could just say that ruin and undying is fine or do you want old ruin or nurse back?

A sweat squad doesn't bring 3 OoO. I'd say they were deliberately bringing a toxic build for that game. Full sweat squads would only need 1 OoO.

I might be wrong but I don't think they play every game like this. Just for this one game they did.

Didn't even use keys or strong medkits too

Small PP Killer Combo gone in 2 mins vs a good SWF

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CriLGx9o6ag&feature=youtu.be

Small PP Killer Combo vs a good team of Solos (I asked if they were solos on end game)

These were my matches back to back and it confuses me so much that many threads here ask to nerf this combo of "Hex: Undying + Hex: Ruin and Tinkerer" because "it's so OP", "It obliterates Solo", "Makes the game unfun" and etc.

Like you can just find and cleanse all 5 totems to counter this but no another argument is "Any Killer with half a brain would kill you before you cleanse/find all five totems"

Are you guys playing the same game as I am? because the last time I checked it's 1v4, take a look at the videos of the "Overpowered small PP build" against a Good SWF and a good team of Solos. While I am chasing someone as Blight someone just keeps doing Gens or cleansing totems effectively destroying the combo. A killer can't just walk away from a chase that they are committed to.

In my honest opinion all the people who complain that this combo is super op on highly mobile killers are just lazy to find 5 totems, too lazy to replace one meta perk with Detective's Hunch/Small Game or just want to hold M1 all game never want's to adapt.

TL:DR - YOU PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS COMBO AS OVERPOWERED JUST SUCK AT THE GAME, GET GOOD! (Like the survs at the video.)

Also, following your logic.Couldn't you just say the same about the survivor perk combo (i'm not gonna use that stupid term, thanks scott btw)?

  • I think you meant the this combo isn't OP and shouldn't be changed, right?

The thing about this combo is it can be very strong, yes bit it's still extremely RNG reliant.

In very few cases you will actually have to cleanse all 5 totems.

In my experience undying gets almost always destroyed first and then ruin leaving me with only 2 perks in the early-mid game

  • @Withered8 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1685615#Comment_1685615

Ummm there are far more combos than that. Thana sloppy, surge corrupt, dying light thana, devour TOTH etc. Killers already have so many good combos that having one that completely changes the speeds at which gens are able to pop is just unessasery and tedious.

For your cleansing point, well did you take into account that you actually have to find AND run to each different totem, WHILST avoiding the killer as if you're pushed off you loose all your progress, WHILST having to deal witht he fact that undying allows the killer to see when your on a totem. No the killer cant be everywhere at once but its not hard to pressure multiple places and get downs leading to even more pressure.

And for your ds argument, i'm not here to discuss that. Yes maybe ds should be looked at again at some point but this is literally the only perk which is consistently tedeous to good killers, and even then it can be avoided.

Uhh,do you honestly think you could compare perks like DS,Unbreakable,Borrowed Time,Sprint Burst etc. with Thana,Sloppy etc. ?

These perks, aren't even remotely as game changing than the survivor meta perks.

Ruin and Undying is fine.It doesn't automatically win the match for killers.

They still heavily rely on RNG and their skill to prioritize whether it is better to down the person he's chasing right now, defend a gen that is about to pop or defend the hex totem a survivor is cleansing in that moment

  • I think we had estimated queue times at some point, but they ended up being totally useless because they were extremely inaccurate.

"find five totems to counter ruin undying"

your throwing the game by doing this if the killer has any sort of brain

Does that really happen that often?

Whenever i use that combo or play against it it's gone already at around mid game or so.

Very rarely do i see ruin lasting till the very end

You haven't? It was a while back. If I recall (I'd have to hunt for that thread - it may even be a Discord discussion).

I still have the one where the devs admitted they had quietly removed killer matchmaking protections somewhere - because it was my thread.

It might be that i just forgot that.

Me and my friends only play in high rank and i play killer in those ranks aswell so i wouldn't be effected by this at all.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1686886#Comment_1686886

See: and survivors complained sufficiently about this to get it removed. I haven't seen a single thread from a survivor about smurfcomps, nor do I expect to. It's all 'SWF is fine'.

Do you see why people have an issue with SWF, now? And why they are getting ornery?

Then why did i not see a single thread that talks about the unfairness of that change?

But i think those complaints about SWFs are lesser from newer killers getting stomped from high rank sweat squads.

I assume that most killers that complain about SWFs versed SWFs that were relatively close to their own rank.

Literally the most problematic perk in the game that create toxic gameplay and hatred,

and its way too strong in the hands of SWF with mic.

Usually games with OoO only result in two outcome:

    • SWF dominating the killer because OoO is OP with mic, and t-bag the killer
    • After all the miserable gameplay, killer finally kill all of them, but they trash talk anyway because SWF don't really lose much with OoO and mic, and they're just entitled to wins

Either way, its not healthy gameplay in any way.

How did this perk even last for 4 YEARS and BHVR think its fine?

Is it because its not used as much as the old ruin so you don't concern about it?

With all the respect BHVR, before you slightly change "small games" or "We're gonna live forever",

there are many perks that's need to change, please get your priority right.

Maybe they don't know how to change that perks yet?

Or maybe they think there are other balance changes that are more important than OoO right now for whatever reason.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1686885#Comment_1686885

Idk but they removed it because of players playing with their newbie friends but now its abused by smurfs

So it's back again were it used to be three rank 1 players and one rank 20 SWFs getting rank 20 killers?

How unfortunate. They should have stayed with the system that tried to get a killer that is in between their ranks.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1686869#Comment_1686869

    Which would mean playing perkless.

The old protection ensured that three red ranked survivors couldn't queue with a deranked friend to endlessly crush and troll new killers - they would always face a killer of a similar rank to the higher ranked survivors.

Never noticed that they removed that.

Very odd decision on their part then

  • Really,at what point did they do that?

When they were testing the MMR,maybe?

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1686869#Comment_1686869

I think it was in a swf you would be matched with killers of the highest rank in the group

Does it not work like that anymore?(Meaning a SWF with three rank 20 and one rank 1 player should always get a rank 1 killer)

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1686855#Comment_1686855

I mean they were stopped until bhvr removed the protections

    Which protections?

I only know the one that you aren't able to de-rank past rank 16.

And even then you could easily create a new account (super easy to do on ps4) to bypass that.

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

I just want the devs to balance the game around SWF, buff solos, and buff killers as well.

You shouldn't be punished for playing with friends, most killers like to use SWF as a scape goat, because they didn't play well.

    +1 👍

  • @StarLost said:

Again - here's a bag of jelly beans. Most of them aren't poisoned. Still want one?

Nobody is asking for you to be punished. All we are asking for is for things to be a bit more fair.

Tell you what - if more survivors would make threads about how BHVR needs to bring back the anti-smurf protections and give killers back their matchmaking protections, you'd see far less complaint threads about SWF.

But you don't. You backfill, and make these 'yeah, SWF is fine because my group (according to me) isn't like that'.

Most people are generally benign and don't do heinous crap. We still have police.

Yeah, but that's not really a problem about SWF but rather one about garbage matchmaking and smurfs.

They are currently working on the MMR system so there is that but the problem with smurf accounts is that you woun't be able to stop them at all, unfortunately

And just the same I acknowledge that there is an advantage to being in a swf. What I said was that it wasn't as big as some would like to think.

    https://i.gyazo.com/6831ee8ca6bbf49a50b6c90e63c209ba.png

Why would the devs give indirect universal buffs to killers which are already in a good spot? At that point you are not giving them a buff you are overtuning them.

    Hmm,i can see your point.

I suppose we would have to wait for more perk, map and killer changes,MMR,the early game changes and the buff for solo survivors first and then see if there's a need to buff killer.

But i guess it could still be interesting to see what we could do IF there will be a need to buff killers after all those changes

  • Well, further balancing maps is an ongoing thing already.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    @OniWantsYourMacaroni

As I stated before, this is simply untrue information.

You can be a reliable teammate with great coordination without comms. This has been proven time after time. Communication does not give you the skill needed to successfully win a match. You can have all the information in the world but if you can't loop a killer, are not good with timing (saving, when not to pick up a dying state survivor, recognize the killer is camping so therefore make yourself useful etc.) You will most likely fail if not cost your team time which they do not have.

This isn't as black and white as many claim it is, is what I am saying.

For too long solo queue survivors have been used as "They are just not as good because of comms" excuse in order to excuse these uneeded "buffs" for killers.

Of course,i've never said that you couldn't do good in solo queue.

I also know that information doesn't equal easy wins. It's obvious that you need a certain amount of skill to capitalize on that information.

What you can't deny is that more information will make games much more consistent.

For example, just knowing when somebody is on a gen or in a chase and planning accordingly can make a big impact.

  • @Blueberry said:

The playerbase has increased substantially in general and with cross play.

I think it is a contentious solution but I don't think the other options would work.

I can't see the devs ever buffing killers to the extent they would need to in order to compensate for such a substantial buff to solo players.

Which is why i'm interested how the community would try to solve that.

Maybe somebody has a great idea, who knows?

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

The gap isn't that big. The skill gap is big.

You can't buff killers based on how bad solo queue survivors are doing while blaming it on them not having comms. Because they do just as bad in a swf team.

This is something that this community never likes to bring up. It's always "Let's fix the SWF problem"... which is exactly what? The comms? Cuz I can play the same way with or without comms. What I can't play with is teammates who don't know how to play. There is a big difference.

The biggest gap between solo and SWF is information, which is why you simply can't play the exact same way you could when playing in a SWF.

  • @Blueberry said:

I think they'd be better off with a ranked/unranked queue to fix the SWF problem.

That would split the player base though and i don't think DBD could afford to do that.

And i think it would create even more problems then it could solve

Found a survivor less than 20 seconds into the game, and finished the chase in less than a minute. Yet, three gens popped by the time I got the survivor hooked and I would be able to use PGTW. In the end, I only managed to net one kill using NOED, and that was only because the person let go on first hook. Furthermore, in the endgame chat, I was flamed on all sides by this obvious swf for using NOED, despite them all using tier 3 meta perk builds. I was also accused of tunneling, even though all four of them were running near identical Claudette cosmetics. Three of them had brought maxed out toolboxes, one of which with a BNP.

At this point, why even try to play? The game is in a horrible state right now.

    Gen speeds are generally fine.

There are just a few things the devs need to adjust.

    -Map balance

-And make it so that survivors always spawn together. The most horrible thing a killer could face is 4 survivors spawning on 4 different gens.It would make the early game way more manageable.

Also i would advise you to not use surveillance, becauae in my opinion only high mobility and stealth killers can take full advantage of that perk.Replace this perk with corrupt intervention. It will definetely help you with killers that have a weak early game.

Also also,i would rather use brutal strength than enduring because surviviors tend to pre drop the pallet against killers like clown.

Otherwise you should look at your own gameplay too.If that claudette would have been just a little bit better then she would have vaulted that window right next to the stairs due to you missing that one bottle

  • @DaKnight said:

They are a relic of a past time when survivors recovered exhaustion while moving. They need to be removed. Same with clown's gas bottles but clown is so meh that it's not really an issue for him.

I would rather not completely remove them but nerf the exhaustion duration to a more reasonable number like 10 or 15 seconds for example.

Can we as the community agree that we should stop having 4Man Bullying Sweat Squads like these?

Like okay I 4Ked them but I had sweat super hard using my Main Killer Blight and had a generally unfun time with 3 OoO and a ton of second chances while Tbagging at every pallet.

Like I'm generally concerned for newer or lower ranks Killers who would be inevitably matched against these guys. With a matchmaking system on the Horizon, I would always face SWFs like these? No, Thank you.

Not trying to be rude but what is the point of this discussion?

Obviously Try-Hard Squads like these will never stop.

    Same like super sweat killers.

    It's a never ending cycle.

But at the very least games like these are quite rare.

Attracting new customers but upsetting old and loyal ones is a very bad idea. You don't want to lose your dedicated playerbase that has stuck with you through some really bad times.

That's definetely true but the word 'greed' really didn't fit considering how much more money they would get if they would sell those themes seperately

  • @Buttercake said:

Earlier you said they were losing oit on quite a bit of money. And that is true. So no greed isnt why they did it.

It unfair, but its not greedy..

    Yeah,i realized that.

I'm just sad about the themes :(

  • @Buttercake said:

Its not greed. Lots of companies give bonuses to attract new clients. If it was greed they would have the theme for purchases..because -of course-no one is gonna buy the game again for a theme...maybe some rare dude....

its just to attract new business.

I don't really understand what you mean.

Themes were, among other things,a highly requested feature.

Now we have two different themes we could get (Silent Hill and Stranger Things),but the problem is that the only way to get them right now is to buy the specific bundles that are at least 30€+ per bundle.

Considering that a lot of players already have the base game and the chapters included in the bundles,we would have to oay an absurd amount of money just for those themes.

Not giving those players the option to only get those themes seperately IS greedy and really disappointing aswell to be honest.

Edit:I suppose the word unfair would be more fitting.

  • @Boosted_Dwight said:

It's incredibly greedy and unfair to people who have been here for the long run.

Yes you have to buy the whole bundle.Just like the Silent Hill bundle.

It just makes 0 sense to not sell it for like 3€ seperately.

I love DBD and the music from the stranger things and silent hill chapter so this makes me extra sad not being able to get those themes without having to pay an absurd amount of money for it :(

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

So, there's no denial that The Shape's ability is quite outdated in current game. It doesn't provide much benefits and has a lot of limits that don't seem to make sense in light of later released killers. Take a look at Oni for example, whose power does the same thing as Myers' EW3 but better in every aspect excluding vaulting. Or look at ghostface, wraith or even pig to see how Michael's ability loses in terms of lethality and stealth to them. I personally think Myers could really use some buffs and QoL changes or even a rework? It's also related to his addons, which aren't really broken, although they do need changing to fit current standart.

My personal wishlist for the Shape (take these changes separately from each other and not as whole, especially the ones that aren't just QoL):

    • Remove stalking limit on survivors - Michael is all about finding a weak link in survivor's team and exploiting it until he kills the rest. It makes no sense that he cannot stalk one survivor to fullest.
    • Give an ability to activate EW3 at will and not when reached 100% stalking meter - Simply QoL to make Shape's life less miserable. It wouldn't change much gameplay-wise, since Myers can already 99 EW3 and then suddenly pop it on a survivor, but it would certainly make doing so easier as it removes the "######### I overstalked" problem.
    • Make "Grab survivor&Kill them by your hands" basekit&rework mori addons - If Pyramid head is allowed, why shouldn't be Myers? The requirements could be +- the same - have survivor on death hook and do something with your ability to them. For example just have EW3 to kill them or stalk that survivor for certain time to "build up your resolve to put your knife in their guts". Having access to mori without an offering is very nice as Pyramid Head and having the similar ability as Shape would make playing him even more exciting experience. Mori addon's requirements could be either changed to current mori requirements (hook survivor once before doing dirty things) or they could be made into a completely new thing.
    • Add more to EW3 than just "vault faster" and "hit further". Make it more than just "well, shucks, I'm exposed" even at cost of cutting any info from Myers - Extra stun reduction, COMPLETE stun immunity, blocking windows as basekit, EXTRA MOVEMENT speed. Anything. Survivors should be legit scared to be found by EW3 Myers and not just have to drop pallets more frequently.
    • Buff his movement speed in EW1 or give him his "Can't detect me with ANYTHING" back - there's no point now in having Myers walk slightly faster than survivors when he can no longer avoid Spine Chill and Premonition as one justified another. Having him to walk at 110% while in EW1 would be pretty fair even with wallhack addons just as him being completely undetectable by survivor's abilities.
    • Make "obsession" mechanic part of his basekit - even in spotlight devs said his power works around "tagging survivors as obsessions" so I believe that should be a thing. For example his power could create such thing as "permanent" obsession status that applied obsession effects to certain survivor and couldn't be switched and gave Myers certain benefits based on that like "Judith's journal" addon effects as basekit (faster stalking rate on obsession).
    • Give him more Mori animations that involve him interacting with survivors in a certain way - Instead of grabbing a survivor from locker he just stabs them and throws their body away, instead of grabbing survivor from generator, Myers just stabs them, etc etc.
    • Make his stalking be more effective the further he is from survivors/independent from distance - Just please. It buffles me that I have to be literally breathing right behind them to get somewhat bearable stalking speed.

How would you change/buff Myers? Do you think he needs changes?

I always thought that it would be kinda cool to buff his Tier 1 and Tier 3 and make him somehow able to switch between those tiers.

Would add a bit more strategic elements to him

  • @DaKnight said:

I think he is pretty much fine as he is. Probably the only thing that needs looking at might be how his stalk meter regresses randomly due to dedicated servers. I feel like alot of people make the mistake of stacking regression perks on an M1 killer instead of the perks that help get downs against good survivors (enduring, brutal, bamboozle, etc).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlM9ooRw_wE

You can watch this guy slay almost everyone with myers using only shadowborn and no add-ons at rank 1.

Great for him,but you can do that with pretty much every killer tbh.

It doesn't change the fact that Myers is vastly outclassed by killers with more or less similiar powers (e.g Oni and Ghostface)

Myers definetely needs something to make him more fun and engaging to play.Because right now he's more or less THE definition of M1 killer.

  • "X game is dying" is just a meme at this point

I have a feeling Legion and Plague are the exact reason we saw the marginal buff we did instead of something more substatial, closely followed by being able to stack slowdowns heavily one on top of the other.

Which is quite a shame tbh.

I would love to see a buff to perks like dying light or thana but make them not stackable

Everyone knows you have to be STANDING to unlock a hatch on the GROUND that you'd need to preferably lie flat on the ground to open (almost as if you where in the dying state) so as to hide in the tall grass while doing so.

    Bad game design.

Please don't try to apply logic on video games. That doesn't work at all :]

No you are not lol, I have constant frame drops on the PS4 Pro, I have always been hoping for the frame drops to be fixed. Honestly has gotten worse, Blight is so 50/50 if I have a stable frame rate or not. Very annoying. But luckily I am gwtting a PS5 so hopefully that update will fix it.

That's great for you,but there will probably still be enough players that aren't able/don't want to go next gen yet.

I know next generation consoles will be 4K/60FPS so maybe that will help :)

That's great i guess but i don't have that much money to spent on a next gen console right now.

And i think i'm not the only one with that kind of problem or at least a similiar one

Alright, I started thinking about this after @MadLordJack said that nurse was busted and OP and that he hated how people defend nurse because she's "the hard one".

Nurse is by far the best killer in dbd, and I see more people wanting spirit and deathslinger nerfed than nurse, who has even less counterplay. Now, I agree that deathslinger and spirit do need some tweaks to their kit, but why not nurse? I see people defend her saying "she's a high skill killer", at least with deathslinger you can break LOS and pre drop pallets, slinger takes a lot of skill to play, almost as much as nurse, and I see more people talking about slinger than nurse.

I'm not saying nurse needs a nerf or anything, but I just want to know why people defend her for being high skill. She has almost no counterplay, you can't juke a nurse, the nurse misses, and since she no clips through everything, you can't use pallets or vaults as well.

Well, the thing is.In order to be the god nurse with 0 counterplay you have to invest an insane amount of time.

Which is why those god nurses are so incredibly rare to see.

If you compare her with other killers like Pyramid Head,Deathslinger,Freddy or Spirit then you'll see that their skill floor is waaaaay lower then the one from nurse.

I love the concept of very strong killers that require a lot of time to get good at them which is why i would never complain about a god nurse completely destroying me.

Because i know it took them a lot of time to get this good at her. However it feels much more frustrating to lose against killers like spirit, freddy etc. because they are so easy to play considering how strong they are.

I noticed with the new archive that a new skin for Billy is coming out. But after his rework it seems that no one really touches him anymore. Its rare I ever encounter a Billy as survivor and its a shame. What you all think, you all still play Billy at all ?

Don't know why but after his nerf billy feels kinda weird/clunky to play.I would rather play other killers than him tbh.

Even as survivor i don't see any billy players at all.I see more people playing hag or nurse than billy, imagine that.

You have to play to a killer's strengths, and Hag is only good at area control. She requires a survivor playstyle that solos struggle to pull off. Slow and steady is how you beat Hag. Every survivor has to stay extremely patient, run her away from gens, and force her to commit to 1v1 chases for downs.

Eh,i would rather say that you should play aggressively against her.

Some of my hardest matches as hag were games in which survivors interrupted me from setting up my web at the beginning of the match
