In this video by Scott Jund, at 12:15 he talks about intentionally buffing/nerfing perks to shake up the meta. The goal is not to balance every perk to be equal in power, but to encourage variety and more unique builds. Seriously, we have been dealing with the same meta (DS, BT, DH, Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Unbreakable) for sooooooooooooooo long.

I understand the devs have priorities, but PLEASE we need CONTENT. It wouldn't even be that hard because you could just tweak the numbers.

    EXAMPLES

    • Babysitter's effect buffed from 8 seconds to 30 seconds.
    • Poised effect buffed from 10 seconds to 16 seconds.
    • Wake Up's effect buffed from +15% speed to +40% speed.
    • Solidarity's effect buffed from 50% to 75%.
    • Surge's effect buffed from 8% regression to 12% regression
    • Overcharge's effect buffed from +5% regression to +10% regression.
    • Fire Up's effect buffed from +4% to +6%.
    • Hang Mans Trick buffed from 6 meters to 10 meters.

All of the listed perk changes are just value tweaks, and nothing major was changed.

    My suggestion

Buff/Nerf 10-20 perks monthly(?) to intentionally shake up the meta.

I agree,we desperately need more perk changes.

It's sooooo boring to see the same perks on either side all the time just because all the other perks are so bad in comparison.

I always loved it when the devs buffed some perks and i could try some new and different builds, but it's been so long since they buffed multiple perks :(

There should be another person or team that is only focusing on perk balance.

Yikes - at least I know I will be able to watch an episode of a show between games then.

I don’t know what’s worse, crossplay being there or having the option to opt out of it. Lol

just not a fan of it since KB+M isnt supported on console, and ngl, there is a difference in style of play/control in the game between the two

The only difference between pc and console is the better framerate and some killers like nurse, huntress or deathslinger are easier to play on pc but other than that there won't be any major differences.

Don't forget that DbD isn't a shooter game like CoD or Battlefield that requires precise aiming.

  • @Fibijean said:

It wasn't mentioned on the stream I don't think, but crossplay is apparently an opt-in feature. So if you don't want to play against PC players, you don't have to (although queues might be longer and matchmaking worse due to the smaller player pool).

Not exactly,it's an opt-out feature. But yes,you will be able to choose whether you want to play against all platforms or stay in the ps4 player pool.

but my killers are consistent. I always, always alternate between hag and plag. my gurgly gorls. 🖤

I love to dress my survivors as horrible as possible too.It always looks so funny.

Thing is,the game already is in a much more balanced state than it was before. And currently there's pretty much nothing stronger than an ebony mori in my opinion

  • If i remember correctly,it wasn't really used every game but you definetely saw it being used here and there

  • It kinda was.Maybe not as OP as iridescent head huntress but very boring and frustrating to play against.

Can you explain Forever Freddy to me? I've returned last month and haven't seen much of his builds. What exactly does it do?

Forever freddy was just a player stacking as much slowdown perks/addons as possible thus makeing matches extremely long and frustrating to play as survivor.

Because of that freddys slowdown addons got nerfed pretty hard.

Well, I said two other things about moris and why I think they're fine as they are. Can you address the other two?

You can't say anything about the moris animation, that's obvious. Those animations say nothing about the actual balance of moris.

To the other thing you said:

That is purely anecdotal reasoning and doesn't justify the way moris currently work.

  • @Orion said:

Because they're rarely used, come with awesome animations, and put the "horror" back in this horror game.

Saying things are ok because they aren't used too often doesn't really make sense.

I don't see iridescent head + infantry belt and tombstone piece + j. myers memorial too often.Does that make them ok?No it doesn't.

Ah ok,you're only saying that they are "fine" because using them isn't against the rules, right?

  • @Orion said:

    They're fair as they are.

But why should an offering be able to have such a big impact on the game like ebony moris do?

I think that ultra rare addons/offerings that are just a straight up buff for the person using it is poor design. They should always either change your playstyle or have some kind of risk-reward situation.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I feel moris are fine. Just as keys and as much as I hate it, DS. The devs have stated these things are all fine and until they say otherwise we have to deal with it.

As for fair rules of moris. All moris are fair seeing as how survivors are free to bring any and everything to a match. The only mori I feel survivors CANNOT whine about is Devour Hope. Seeing as you need to get 5 stacks to mori someone, it discourages camping, it's a hex perk, and you get a notification that it's on the map at 3 stacks. If the killer gets those 5 stacks they deserve that mori because the survivors failed to counter it.

How do you think that keys and moris are fine?

A huge problem with moris is that survivors can't properly prepare for them.Killers however can prepare themselfs if they see a key user in the lobby.Moris would be a lot more balanced if survivors could prepare for it before the match starts.

I have to mention. Since ruin got nerfed I am noticing A LOT of "red" survivors that actually suck at the game. I can't help but feel nerfing ruin allowed these noobs to rank up when they shouldn't have.

I'm extremely sure that the Ruin nerf wasn't really the cause of that but rather the new rank reset that made it even easier to get to red ranks and stay there.

I just find it really strange that people try to get all perks without P3ing. Like, c'mon. P3 takes, like, 20% of the whole time.

Honestly,P3 is only really worth on licensed character because they have so few to none cosmetics.

And the BP you save by not P3'ing can be used to get perks/items/addons/offerings on other characters.Don't forget, choosing to not P3 a character means about 4.5 million BP saved.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1DIPO91LUSEB/20200508053049-1.jpg

This is the perks I use, the addons can be whatever. The perks on the left will give you information on where to hit next after you get stunned so you can get a PWYF token and harrass someone else on gens. The gen theyre working on will start regressing as soon as you chase em off... The 2 perks on the right however will make that saw deadly. The idea being is to keep pushing ppl off gens, get stunned and then run to the next target while getting your PWYF stack. You'll be going too fast for them to loop, so they'll be forced to throw pallets pretty quickly. Down anyone who gets too greedy using your chainsaw and switch targets after a pallet stun if you see another target available.

Why would you use Surveillance and Ruin on Bubba though?

This combo is normally used on killers that can easily apply map pressure like nurse and billy.

I think perks like BBQ&Chili and Pop goes the Weasel are much more useful and consistent.

So does anyone else plan to only p1 or p2? Will you go to p3 because you like that head or just because you’re a completionist? Also for anyone who answers do you prestige all killers or only the ones you enjoy?

Well,i will go for P3 just because i'm kind of a completionist in this game and P3 every new character we get.

I don't know if I missed something in the patch notes, and I don't know how long it's been like this. I know it didn't use to be like this.

The way they used to work, is they gave bonus bloodpoints in certain categories. However, it was just in-game. It didn't give them to you after the match ended like BBQ did. So even if you brought something (like, 100% more Deviousness bloodpoints) you couldn't get anymore then 8k from that category. Well, as I was playing, I noticed I was getting more then I should have. And I did the math on my most recent game, and it turns out that at some point, they changed it to match the other bonus bloodpoint offerings.

I had 3618 Bloodpoints going into it. I had no perks to increase bloodpoint gains (haven't gotten BBQ on this killer yet). During the match, I earned 29037 bloodpoints, with 6500 being Brutality (which i had the 100% offering for). Tallying that up, before I would have had 32655. But this time, I had 39155. Which, if I got another 6500 Bloodpoints because of my offering, makes perfect sense. 32655 + 6500 = 39155.

I might have just missed a patch note somewhere, but I don't ever remember this being changed, and I know it didn't used to be like this. This is a great change regardless of how old it is, but I figured some people may not know about it.

They always worked like that. The only thing they changed about those offerings was increasing the percentage of points those offerings give you.

I run Thana and Blood Echo, both of which punish survivors for staying injured. It forces them to spend time healing, which then I can easily re-injure them with Frenzy. It's a massive time sink to heal against Legion and both of these perks force you to do that.

Blood Echo counters all the Exhaustion perks. If they refuse to heal, this perk will be active pretty much all the time. I encountered maybe 2 DH's the last 5 games as Legion because of Blood Echo.

Add in Ruin and now Thana is even stronger. Now they have to go find a totem AND heal to have a chance to do gens.

And you only want to use Frenzy for mobility if you already know where survivors are. If I see them on a gen with BBQ, I get close until I'm sure I can reach with Frenzy, then use Frenzy to get there quicker and get free hits.

Again I consistently 4k merciless with Legion. CONSISTENTLY. I've had like 3 survivors escape out the gate in my last 20 games (and a few more that got hatch but I could have played to avoid it if I so chose). I don't need to play scummy either, which is what Scott had to do to win every one of those Bubba speed limiter games. I can actually play super duper fair as Legion and still win convincingly. It's almost easy mode, comparable to playing Freddy.

I do have to agree that the BBQ,Thana,Blood Echo and Ruin Combo seems like quite a decent build and i definetely will try this one out.

I'm still quite interested in how well this build works against good survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1318840#Comment_1318840

I can't agree with you there.

Deathslinger can only shoot over very specific loops. Most tiles that are looped completely block the Deathslingers shot. His power is all but useless at jungle gyms, questionable at best at T-L's, and gym v.2's from Ormund and Estate are no better. Furthermore, Deathslinger's power doesn't down people, and he has to waste valuable time reeling in his target once he has hit them and that reeling process can be interrupted by a body-block.

His power is patently inferior to Huntress's. And lastly, the reload speed quality you mention is only relevant if you're bad at the Killer. If you're good at using their power, their reload time is a non-issue. Go watch a really good player like Tru3talent or Umbra play Huntress and you'll see what I mean.

Although, remarking about their reload speed as if it actually matters tells me approximately how valid your opinion is... so, never mind.

    No reason to be insulting.

Of course his power is inferior to huntress hatchets.

But his power is far from useless at jungle gyms.Going for the window will be to dangerous because he can just shoot you hold you at the window and then hit you at the window. He can also get you when just when you try to turn the corner or just out of lunge distance.

Reeling survivors in isn't really a waste of time because you also saved your time by denying the survivor more loops.

Sure, someone can body block the chain but that also means 2 survivors are off gens instead of 1 and usually results in at least a hit on the healty survivor body blocking the chain.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1318120#Comment_1318120

Bubba insta-down only works if you let him do it. Run to pretty much any loop in the game and all he gets is a faster pallet break.

Demo has 0 pressure. His portals don't help him that much because of how slow it is and the fact he needs to be on a portal to travel to another portal. Shred is easy to dodge. His tracking tool can be taken out, meaning you are forced to put them out of sight which negates tracking since the survivor won't be close enough.

Plague also has no pressure. I've been finding that if you over-cleanse and force her to take Corrupt early you can seriously ######### her over by removing the only pressure tool she has. Everyone gets sick, taps a gen, cleanse, get sick again, cleanse, now you are all healthy and she has Corrupt. Just hide until it's gone and now there is nothing she can do. She also has to go out of her way for Corrupt, so if it's off in some random corner of the map then you don't even need to do that. Just stay broken until the end of the game and yeet out the door. She also gets 0 pressure from injured survivors since they can cleanse, where against a normal killer the survivors have to spend time healing.

Wraith is 100% loopable and Spine Chill completely negates his power.

Legion is loopable but he has the option to just say ######### it and use Frenzy to find a new target. I do this all the time if I feel like I've spent too much time on someone. Much more effective tracking than Demo, and map pressure because now the survivor is injured and must heal (unlike Plague where they can cleanse in 6 seconds and be healed). Not to mention the added time needed to mend. He is also shorter than both Bubba or Plague making it easier to mind game around certain tiles. Legion can traverse the map pretty quickly too.

Legion is solid B tier. They are FAR from the worst killer in the game.

Similiar to stealth killers, legion has an easy time getting that first hit in.Problem is to actually down them.

Good survivors know how to spread out, especially if they are aware that the killer is a legion.Add Sprint burst, balanced landing or lithe to the mix and you have an extremely hard time to connect your frenzy hits.

Even if you get all injured at some point, good survivor will stay injured because they know healing is a waste of time.Having Dead Hard makes this an even more effective strategy.

Also using his frenzy as a mobility tool means risking to miss out a chance to hit grouped up survivors with it.

Legion really is way weaker than you might think in my opinion

  • @Calchexxiss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1317345#Comment_1317345

Deathslinger is in competition with Clown for the position of worst killer in the game. I don't necessarily agree with OP's suggestion, I'm not sure 115 is right since it actively rewards you for ignoring your power, but Deathslinger isn't in a 'fine' spot. He beats brown-green ranks (sometimes) with increasing difficulty, and gets demolished above that.

Honestly, Deathslinger is a really bad Killer. He's everything wrong with Huntress with none of Huntress's upsides.

    Hard disagree on that.

Deathslinger is easily mid to high-mid tier.

His power helps him dealing with longer loops, loops with lower walls, pallet gyms, jungle gyms and windows. That makes up the vast majority of loops in the game.

Due to the fact that quick scoping is so insanely fast, survivors always have to predict when the Deathslinger is about to shoot which makes them lose distance on you without the Deathslinger having to do anything for that.

Also unlike Huntress,Deathslinger can always reload quite quickly mid chase.

All those things are the reason why his power is so extremely strong in chases which makes his lack of mobility and overall map pressure up.

I think his reload add-ons are his best, but I really like the prison chain / reeling speed. The chain lets you pull off some pretty disgusting loop-stopping shots. There's tons of pallets you don't have to kick as deathslinger and the chain turns them even more unsafe.

    @Narley1 said:

This build is designed around the mid game where there are 1-3 gen(s) left. I've had the most luck and fun with this build.

    Perks:

BBQ Chili- For Extra Bp mainly but can be swapped with a perk for finding survivors or helping block gens such as TT or Whispers.

Surge- My favorite perk I use with him, he's able to reel survivors closer to gens and make them explode without having you kick it! Can be swapped out with Ruin if you want

Pop- Litterally one of the best perks in the game and Deathslinger relies on game slow down perks due to his very slow mobility.

Surveillance- Has become one of my favorite perks in the game. It synergies EXTREMELY well with Pop,Surge and Ruin. They also made an update where gens still glow white after a gen has fully regressed! This perk turns him into a 3-4 gen monster, where is see Deathslinger at his best!

    Addons-

Warden's Keys- Reload faster. Literally his best addon, it helps in every situation after you shoot whether you missed your shot or after you speared a survivor. It's almost needed in some games I have against really good survivors

Either an addon for better reeling speed, reload speed, or missed shot cool down. If your new to gunslinger, missed shots are very frequent so useibg the Tin Oil Can is your best bet. If your someone who hits alot shots from far away but has trouble reeling them close enough then the Bayshore Gold tooth is great. Otherwise, use the Modified ammo belt for an even faster reload!

    Hope this helps :D

The prison chain and reeling speed addons are pretty much useless.

Reload speed and missed shots cooldown are his best addons

Here's a video from int3r4ct that, amongst other things, explains why those addons are so bad:

Legion's power is to slow down the game. You win by spreading damage. If you keep survivors mending/healing then they aren't doing gens. It is indeed very strong if you use it properly. Definitely above Clown, Bubba, Demo, Plague, and Wraith who all have no way to slow down the game.

Legion is a solid mid/upper mid tier.

Better then Clown?Yeah, agree but the rest definetely a no from me

Bubba has a instadown but can't really pressure multiple people at once like Legion.I would say that they are more or less on the same power level

Demo has his portals that can help him traversing the map really fast on a very low cooldown and a bit with tracking. His Shred is an amazing zoning tool.Demo is waaaay better than legion

Plague can infect all survivors and then use her 1 free corrupt purge to force all survivors to heal at the fountains. She's the kind of killer that can win her games easily by snowballing with her corrupt purge.

Wraiths power is really good for hit and run tactics.

Because pretty much no one plays ash anymore 🙄

I mentioned in the post how often the aim-animation-thing (because it's not "auto aim," it just "adjusts" the aim so the animation looks right... or something) messes up and hits the hooked person instead of the unhooker. That's actually as frustrating as anything in DbD. But it all happened very fast. I hooked the person, and before I could move she was there making the save. It was a while back, so I'm not sure I even realized in the moment who was making the save. But let's say I did hit her, then she makes the save and the person who just got unhooked body blocks with BT. I still lose.

I did chase her down and kill her after that. I had been going for my BBQ stacks and wasn't trying to kill anyone, so I'd played really nice even though it had actually been kinda stressful trying to slow them down without killing anyone because they really flew through those gens, but that DS annoyed me enough that I killed her and two more survivors after her. I mean, there was no reason to do that when I went far away from the hook every time. It was only done to frustrate the killer, and with DS and BT sometimes there's no right choice. I got lucky; if they'd been near an open exit gate, that would've been it. Maybe they thought me playing nice was me being bad (not that I'm good, but I'm not completely incompetent), who knows, but there's still no reason to do that against a non-camping killer.

The word you are looking for is "aim dressing"

Normally if someone tries to save directly in your face you hit them once, they save during your hit cooldown and then immediatly down the unhooker.

And i mean,if you didn't try to kill them all then you should expect a harder match.

And unhooking in front of you really isn't toxic but rather a pretty stupid move

There are some loops that absolutely destroy the Deathslinger. They have an open top allowing him to shoot the Survivor, sure, but he can never get close enough to land a hit (even without putting extra strain on the chain by reeling, and even with lunging to close the distance at the last possible second). Leave the loop? Sure. Guess where all four Survivors run to for the rest of the match? There is no point in playing this Killer if his kit is supposed to make looping difficult, but you get run around a single loop for 4 gens.

    ----

If the Deathslinger wants to get across the map, too bad. If the Deathslinger wants to M1, too bad. If the Deathslinger wants the Survivor to drop a pallet without spending 10 minutes in a loop to finally force the drop, too bad.

115% with an empty gun fixes these issues. He can shoot at the start of the match for a speed boost, but all the Survivors know it's him, know he's moving slightly faster, and know that he has to reload when he gets to them.

Deathslinger really doesn't need a buff.

He is in a perfectly fine spot right now.

People keep saying that, and yet I've been posting screenshots now for over a week showing that - even with instant queues - I'm regularly seeing SWF's with red rank players, but only when they also have a low rank player queued with them.

It's not "sometimes", it'll be literally every game over the course of an evening. I posted one screenshot about every 10 minutes one night in a thread just showing how it works.

So yeah, either it's not working right, or people have wrong information. Because that's clearly not how it works.

How do you know that all of them were SWF and not the broken matchmaking we currently have?

Because first matchmaking was looking for the lowest ranked player (the biggest number)

Then it got changed to look for the middle.

And now it should look for the highest ranked player (the lowest number).

Com isn't completely useless neither is pharmacy. Where as literally every single perk ash has are useless.

If you think that Com and Pharmacy is ok then so is Flip-flop.

Pretty fun in an anti slugging build.

There was one match, first survivor I found, I started chasing them. They jumped in a locker, I pulled them out, and they DC'd. Beginning of the match, not one hook yet. Next thing I know, I'm getting a message, "You tunneler! The devs said tunneling is cheating. I'm reporting you. You're gonna get banned. Stop cheating."

    o_0

I still cannot for the life of me figure out what the hell... I mean, stuff like that makes me believe some survivors really do only want a gen repair sim. That's the only way I can think to interpret that message.

    That survivor was obviously trolling

From my last game, at that.

Another "red rank SWF that brought a lowbie so they get matched against low killers." group.

Yeah, survivors are always looking for those good games. 😂

You do know that matchmaking for SWF is always supposed to look for the highest ranked player in the group, right?

What you described was how it used to be in the past at one time.

Near the end of a match, a Meg got unhooked, I hooked someone else. Before I could even leave the hook, a healed Meg ran over to make the save in my face. If I hit her, she gets injured and then makes the save. Hell, if I try to hit her, there' s a large possibility that the "aim assist" will screw me over and hit the hooked survivor. So, I grab her, get DS'd, and she still makes the save.

I don't feel outplayed in that scenario, just screwed over. She got to make a bad play and get away with it and there was nothing I could do to stop her. No matter what I did, she got to make that save in my face. Moments like that make me wonder how there are any killer players left. Seeing a streamer click "leave match" when he gets DS'd after killing three survivors (chases down the final survivor left on the map and then gets DS'd, there's no one else to go after there's only one [BAD WORD]ing survivor left!) says a lot about the absolute frustration these perks can cause when they punish someone for just daring to play killer.

I won't deny that getting DS'ed after hooking another survivor feels really unfair, but why didn't you just hit her twice and down her that way?

What? everyone of those other survivor or killers has at least one useful perk.

Steves and Quentins perks are pretty much useless

They keep dodging it by saying they need information/ reports from us. It's literally nowhere near 60 at every moment regardless of situation @Peanits @not_Queen

We can't fill out forms and just say "fps bad" but that's the case the fps is low from the moment the main menu boots up and persists at all times especially as killer.

We can't give situation/cause because it just is at all times.

Like this twitter post for example

    https://twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/1266098939180257282?s=19

How do we post optimization issues when the game is currently a walking optimization issue? Fps bad is as good as it gets

But there are some situations that pretty much always drop your FPS to zero.

Getting a new status effect (e.g exposed from Noed or mangled/hemorrhage from sloppy butcher or getting your first stack of bloodlust).

Seriously, what happened here, wasnt this announced to be completed by winter of 2019? Yet playing killer still makes my frames lower than the skill of a blendette

The only thing they said in a blog post from over half a year ago is that they aim to get the console version of DbD up to 60 FPS and that optimization is an ongoing kind of process and that they try to improve the game with every update.

But as you can see nothing happened yet and they still choose to remain silent.

  • @Epicu2 said:

If you hear his loud stomping when running, just hide behind something, and make sure you are not seen (he can't track you like Legion)

But if you are his 'obsession', you can't hide so you're basically screwed, sorry.

Overall, hide, and don't become the obsession.

(I actually have Oni, and it's hard to find people if they are not the obsesion, so just hide as well as you can).

Oni can see scratch marks while using his power unlike legion.

And his power has absolutely nothing to do with the obsession.

  • I really really dislike how silent they are about this topic. It's requested sooo often that i can't understand why they STILL don't talk about that at all.

My only hope is that the huge graphic update will resolve most of the problems console currently has.

BTW didn't they say in a blogpost that one of their aims is to get DbD running at 60 FPS instead of 30 on console till winter 2019?

No info about that topic aswell.
