  • Toxic isn't the word you are looking for, unbalanced (even though it is the most balanced it has been for years).

I guess the word toxic doesn't mean anything these days.

if you think someone urban evading around the map not doing generators and then luckily taking the hatch that spawned near them is more skilled than looping the killer while the rest of the team do 3 generators then you're as bad as the dev's

I thought I could write sarcasm without the /s and people would get it, glad to see it doesn't work, you can check what I type and what I say if you click on my name, I usually make fun of the devs decisions (not them but the decisions)

I thought about this some more and i think bringing iron grasp is the correct response.

From now on every game i will just run:

    1. I ron grasp to counter boil over.
    2. I'm all ears to counter lucky break.
    3. Franklin's demise to counter items
    4. Lethal pursuer to counter initial stealth
    5. Discordance to counter prove thyself
    6. Deadlook to counter prove thyself
    7. Ruin Undying to counter holding m1
    8. Brutal strength and fire up to counter gideon
    9. Thrill to stop people cleansing my hexes

Still don't have a perk counter for circle of healing, but once there is one i will add it to my build.

Nurse's calling is actually really decent against Circle of fairness, no joke but NC is slowly becoming one of my fav perks during the CoH era.

4 man swf with 2 brand new parts... enough to say that the game ended in like 5 minutes

I had 3 kills, so devs will say it's fine, with a killers adventage even.

The problem is that, it was unfun for both parties, for me because i had to sweat and play like a scum and for survivors who were tunneled and camped (thank you facecamping zombie)

Game is not being balanced with "fun" in mind, meanwhile it's neither balanced in a competitive way, if it was, devs would put in mind, what is banned in tournaments and the grind factor wouldn't be allowed to create such a gap between players.

I can't remember but I think it was Otzdarva who made the perkless challenge, he mentioned something about how can killers win most of their matches which was playing the most annoying way possible aka camping tunneling etc.

The fun factor went down after ruin was changed for the killer side, most killers adapted to playing slightly more optimal when the MMR came to live, the fun factor went to 0, I know everyone wants to win because that is human nature and that is the point of videogames.

Basically what I want to say is that no matter what killer is not as fun as it was before, it is not about pub stomping it is about having fun which on the killer side is way harder these days mostly because of how optimized survivors got, before you would see really good loopers now you see pre drops every pallet, killers would outplay and bam fun for both sides, Idk what happened but the pre drops and addons like bnp and medkits are very common these days.

  • Clearly you looping is not skillful at all, nope since the urban evader escaped then they are simply just better than you CLEARLY you didn't help your teammates get gens done since you were being chased for 3 gens and ended up dying so you are the bad player what can we say.

  • @RakimSockem said:

When I ask this question, I'm referring to OVERALL killer nerfs, not specific killer nerfs (i.e. well Bubba got a cooldown on his chainsaw so the devs hate killers)

Honestly, I think that when you look at it honestly Survivor and Killers have been roughly nerfed at the same rate. When I think of OVERALL nerfs to both sides, for survivors there was the HUGE exhaustion nerf (RIP me getting Lithe twice in a chase), the nerf to self care, the nerf to healing in general in the same patch as the self care nerf, MoM nerf, DS nerf, balanced landing nerf, all 3 ultra rares are practically useless (sorry those count for survivors because survivors share them unlike killers whose add ons are all different)

On the killer side, there was a Bloodlust nerf, Hex: Undying was nerfed I think, and......? idk it's been a while since I've played killer but I can't think of many nerfs that across the board has affected ALL killers and not specific adds ons or power of individual killers. I'm sure there's something I'm not remembering but like....I just find it funny when people create all these threads saying the only nerf survivors have received was like DS and MoM and just completely disregard everything else that's been changed since the game started

I say this, usually the nerfs for the killers are the fun factor not that much the killer itself (obviously not talking about 7 blink nurse) but like billy and the ear piercing sounds, or no more mlg 360 no scope slinger or the trapper sounding like he is ummmm excited..... Let's go with that.

But also survivors are getting really strong perks that the only counter we had was nerfed and yes I am talking about CoH and the actual counter could've been old undying.

Map issues is another problem but that is unrelated since this is not a killer/survivor issue.

Also map offerings but that is another issue.

Killers are in a good spot balanced wise but survivor perks aren't not saying survivors themselves but perks.

I played a match yesterday with all cross platform players, and was surprised I got messages in my chat at endgame.

It wasn't through the end game chat, it was through xbox social, they can spam the heck out of you, worst part is that when you receive a msg the game audio goes almost silent for like 5 seconds, now imagine spam.

But maybe I am not explaining it very well?

I don't think that's the case, but if there's actually a messaging system between Xbox and Steam that I'm not aware of, then that's on the platforms, not BHVR.

It was through xbox social, and to get that you just need a microsoft account which most players have.

I'm trying to find a mute system in there because all night survivors from cross play have been sending complaints like using billy's saw and I'm not joking.

But as long as you have the name they will continue.

If you look at the steam charts this game is declining. Content creators are getting frustrated with the game and devs, and I think we can all agree that the game is incredibly frustrating for both killer and survivors. I was wondering how we can keep the game fun and refreshing without saying "buff this killer" or "nerf this survivor perk/play style."

Just interested in seeing if y'all have anything like a new game mode or mechanic to keep the game fresh without the killer vs survivor debate.

I mean stop harassing killer players in general, not you personally but if survivors want killers to still play, stop harassing them, that is the easiest way to not let the game die.

Stop with BNP or broken medkits, but since most survivors will still bring them I hope it goes downhill and bhvr will have to do something.

  • There are charms?!? Only 1 of my killers has them on the hook which is oni, there is no point in them.

  • I've played against a dev once, I even uploaded that video.

She was a lot of fun to play against.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience.

  • @GannTM said:

Spirit is a great killer that is fun for both sides. So why doesn’t anyone play her? Like I said, she’s fun, fair, and has interesting add ons that change up the way she plays. Her kill rate and pick rate has dropped significantly in this most recent killer stats chart which is saddening to see.

I guess I kind of do understand why people don’t play her anymore, it’s because of the nerf that barely impacted anything except the stand still mind game. It’s been 3 months since that nerf hit live and I still am doing fine with her.

I had to post this because I don’t think I’ve seen Spirit as survivor in like a month and that’s not ok.

Last time we had a well loved killer from both sides, bhvr nerfed him, many of us still play him.

We don't want more nerfs like that.

I put about 1.5k hours into killer, and then recently switched to solo queue survivor to learn that side of the game.

I've got about 300 hours so far in survivor, watched a whole lot of YouTube videos on how to loop tiles, and I feel like I've become decent at it. timing myself when I enter a chase, I on average can loop a killer for 40 seconds to 1 min.

BUT, things often snowball out of control, my MMR must be so low that it constantly pairs me with survivors who have double digits in the game with only 2-3 tier 1 perks. I honestly don't blame them, they just don't know the basics of the game at all and I feel like killers have a huge advantage with that even if they are brand new to the game.

I've tried everything, I've tried running directly to the killer at the start of the match in hopes they will do gens, but 9 outa 10 times they don't do enough, or the killer gets fed up and switches targets and snowballs it from there. I've tried just powering through gens as hard as possible, but they go down so fast that I'm often playing medic and spend all match saving them left and right.

in most matches I end up with gold badges or better in chase, saving/healing and gens. my rank has gone up fast, but I feel like my MMR hasn't raised at all. it's really rare I end up not 1st in points unless the killer specifically tunnels me hard out of the game.

At this moment I'm about 20 games in row without an escape. My patience is wearing thin, just feels like a hopeless situation. My only chance I have is when MMR screws up and I'm placed in a lobby with experienced survivors, then the whole aspect the game changes, it's so much fun playing with survivors like that and I actually enjoy the game a lot, but that's so rare and I can't even recall the last time that happened.

please help, I'll take any advice I can get at this point.

Honestly, my most sincere advice is to get some friends and SWF, currently the SBMM sucks so bad so you will be paired with new players.

  • @Pulsar said:

I don't think they nerfed it enough.

Isn't it only like a 3 second nerf across the board?

That still doesn't address the time sink Killers have to go through in order to disable it temporarily.

4 seconds, yeah this wasn't the issue of the reason why most of us killers complained, the main reason was mostly because of the area and also working on Y axis.

With some perks yeah I agree, with noed being S tier? Not really unless you are using someone like nurse or spirit.

If perks are all over the place instead of a list then sure, but no way mindbreaker is better than enduring or IF, also BBQ is nowhere near as good as TT, maybe he only put those perks randomly but as is, I don't agree with certain perks being above the others.

Whoops, forgot to answer your question, no, Noed is that great to be S tier maybe A but with a dedicated build.

  • I mean in a hockey game, the one that wins is what matters, ask Patrick, if a bubba facecamps clearly he is the better player since the bubba got the kills, since hooks do not matter only kills bubba can force that.

  • @SilentShepherd said:

Nothing wrong with CoH. You need to learn to play better as Killer.

People on these forums and Reddit are often seen complaining that killer mains are giving up and dropping out, which is increasing queue times, apparently ever since SBMM was released, and even more after the Hour of the Witch (boons) Update.

Personally, I don't really think that's the case, because honestly I believe the reason for longer queues has more to due with how the SBMM system is matching up players, and not for lack of players. Still, this game has been bleeding players on the steam charts since August, totaling about 18,000+ dropping off between August and the end of December last year, and lowering the average players online from 51k to around 40k per day for just this last month.

What I would be interested in seeing more than anything, is if the complaints that killers are dropping out is substantiated or not. Anyone else want to see a statistic sheet that shows the Avg Killer vs. Avg Survivor population vs. Overall player avg ever since SBMM was released? It would also be nice to see how many players switched roles over that same period of time as well, but that might be asking too much.

I'm betting the statistic will show that, No, killers aren't dropping out anymore than survivors, and that it's only the general population of players that are lowering due to either the seasonal average or if any recent updates have had a negative impact on the game experience overall.

Hopefully the devs already have a few statistic sheets like that, are already working on solutions to stop this bleed asap, and get the games population health back up to where it was.

Either way, It's a statistic I'd love to see to put an end to all of these complaints once and for all. Even more than that, the devs giving us that statistic through their transparency of the issue, would also reassure us, the players, that the devs know where the problems lie and are working hard to fix it.

Would Anyone else be interested in this?

Pretty sure yeah, I quit dbd for a bit, haven't played for like a month or so, came for 6 matches during the 1.5x bp, left as soon as I saw the outcome of the matches or I should say the quality of the matches.

I invested about 2.5k hours on killer just to drop it like that but currently the game is not fun for either side.

If BHVR's system is like most other online games, offenders are given multiple chances.

"At LEAST 1 extra minute of survival" bit exaggeration hm? just on some occasions if you play bad...

also plz keep in mind if a survivor dies it means game over, killers cant die and will always play a full round. some perk for extra survivability seems fair to me....

1 min is not really an exaggeration, in fact a simple dead hard can change the outcome of 3 gens or not, and RNG can make it worse I guess according to you "if you are bad"

Yeah, I was using bps and 4th/5th year cakes, I will just keep them, screw giving to other players in this game, no point if I leave the match with 6k x 2 because someone decided to tunnel/camp.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

"Just like old ruin DH needs to be changed since it is in almost every match."

This was not the only reason why Ruin was reworked.

"Nothing but meta perks, how is that fun for anyone? Now this goes for both sides."

I mean, you have more variety on Killers side, as long as you dont want to go super-easy and run 4 Slowdown-Perks. But if you look beyond Slowdown, you can have more variety in Killer Builds, simply because every Killer plays different. So in total, for the Killer SIde, more Perks find actual usage.

For Survivors however, they have like 6 Meta-Perks. Of course you will see the same Perks over and over again. But, as we see with CoH, Survivors are also not allowed to have new Meta-Perks. Or good Perks in general.

Old ruin was changed because it was in almost every match, and also because it gave free pressure, dead hard is now on almost every match and gives a free health state or at least 1 extra minute of survival.

    There is no difference.

  • @Tostapane said:

... and for this i COULD be grateful, but the major issues of the game are still present:

1 huge amount of ddos and hackers are still present in the game (not joking when i found them 1 of every 3 matches that i do)

2 the HUGE AMOUNT of toxic players. Despite your claims about fighting racism and extreme harassments you erased free content like bubba's masks for that purpose, which i don't really care too much tbh, but every report that i did against people who were racist toward me or telling me to kill myself/hope for my death in a gruesome way with more than valid proofs (screenshots) were IGNORED... yes, i said ignored cause i still have a couple of tickets open from 3 months ago

3 the grind itself wasn't reduced despite people asked for this more than once (bp bonus and codes are sweet, but the problem is the base mechanics of earning too much few points in a match, even when you have BBQ/WGLF, and the perk tiers, that should be gone long time ago)

4 certain exploits are left unchecked despite they are gamebreaking (blight's "tech" for example)

5 certain perks should be reworked/buffed/nerfed cause actually the meta isn't changed much (killers) or at all (survivors)

6 certain buffs/nerf to some killers that no one asked (twins, clown, deathslinger, nemesis, etc etc... )

7 maps that are literally unplayable (haddonfield for example) or should be properly balanced (the game is anther example)

8 map offerings should be eliminated from the game (one of the fun parts of dbd is the random maps, but this is more a personal thing, also cause this is usually abused by SWF swat squads/tryhard killers who want to make your game miserable)

Fun fact, BHVR hasn't banned the person who told me to kill myself, and the block option doesn't work since you still play against them.

Good to know BHVR that you can tell people to kill themselves and not get banned at all, you guys are seriously fighting over harassment and racism!!!

  • This game is garbage right now, thank bhvr and their boring mmr that only makes survivors think they are that good because they are using really busted perks and items

  • Yup, and we know devs won't do anything maybe nerf billy or twins again but not to meta perks.

  • I came back from a 1 month break, 4 matches today, 16 dead hards all pre droppers and using dh for distance, SO FUN!!!!

DBD is boring and will continue this path honestly

  • So NFTs, no map, survivor later is what every chapter should be? Interesting

Pinhead was meh, Mikaela brought really strong perks.

    I guess an incomplete chapter.

Imo chapters should be like Oni's.

  • @bm33 said:

There needs to be more nuance in matchmaking than just kills/escapes. While emblem was not perfect it did encourage better play styles and the game was more fun. As survivor if you made unsafe unhooks or just hid all match it would hurt your chances of pipping, killer if you camped one player to death and NOED 1 hooked another it would hurt your chances of pipping.

It's not fun dying because my random teammates aren't doing anything and it's feels like 2v1 with my swf teammate and I being only ones doing anything. It's not fun escaping because the killer was so bad that my swf teammate and I were able to do everything in the 2v1. The teammates we carried that escape with us in old emblem system they would've lost pips because they didn't do anything while now they are moving up with us to continue being a drag on the team.

As killer it doesn't feel good winning because I got matched against crappy team to get 4k after match that was 4e just to give me average 2e/2k.

SBMM just doesn't feel good. Emblem atleast I'd feel good at end of match even if I died when everyone else escaped as long as I had a safety pip or increased in pip. If I died but rest of team escaped and I pipped it was a win and I knew next round the teammates and killer that were around my rank should be equally skilled. Now it just feels like constant rainbow ranks because nothing in the match matters except for kills/escapes. Knowing even though I pipped or double pipped I'm actually dropping rank because I died at end feels bad. Getting a 4k where I feel like I bullied survivors feels bad.

Exactly my thoughts but you phrased them way better.

Emblems were not perfect by any means, but sbmm rewards bad players/plays over players that did everything.

My matches as survivor since sbmm got activated, 1st week felt pretty great, after that I loop the killer for a long time, killer feels like I don't deserve to escape after looping them, I get camped then I play against a slightly worse player and make them feel annoyed, rinse and repeat, right now because of me looping, I get to play against newer players that I feel like I bully not literally but you know what I mean.

Killer, now I don't mind sweating, I might being outmapped, billy on haddonfield? Screwed, billy on RPD? Not fun in any way unless I m1 and stuff.

  • @ThanosPAWG said:

Again because I don't care about winning. That and it has some benefits to it like tight hallways making it hard to dodge ranged attacks, it's hard to unhook most of the time, and this map hurts solo teams even more. Personally I find the swamp maps more annoying as killer.

Ok it might not be miserable to you, but it is miserable for 99% of the killer players, also the only killers that have range that benefit in that map is probably nemesis and PH, huntress, trickster, slinger (not as much) plague, I'm unsure of crow lady because I haven't played RPD with her, but all of them suffer from corridors with doors.

Billy also suffers, Oni can be quite decent.

Individual skill check difficulty based on individual MMR. So if a new player SWF with a seasoned pro, the new player gets easy checks while the pro gets super hard ones.

So I did read it wrong, my bad

  • I have seen, not that many as before but like 3 this past week.

  • @Adjatha said:

The game needs to be easier for new players and harder for pro players. There are two solutions:

    • Flesh out killer bots and make SWF a Bot-only format, where numbers can be tweaked up or down according to the team's average MMR. Then, the core game of 4 solo vs 1 killer can be balanced correctly and MMR will stop being such a wild swing back and forth.
    • Make each survivor's skill checks easier or harder based on their MMR. If you're a new player, it should be easy to get Great skill checks. If you're a pro player, it should be difficult to even just get Good skill checks. This way, newbie survivors finish gens faster and don't give away their location to the killer by botching checks. And pro players actually DO risk botching checks constantly, slowing down the gen rush with passive regression.

I like this but think of newer players playing with good/great players, unless I misread, wouldn't that be harder for them? Since they are new?

That is something I also really liked, but the thing is by balancing a 4v1 game they would need to work (which is something bhvr rarely does), I'm not trying to sound rude I know they work but there are so many things that can get a tweak but they refuse to, like the main problem imo is map variety and offerings.

Example, red forest, if it takes me half a gen to get from gen A to gen E then the map is in serious need of a rework.

  • @ThanosPAWG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2719762#Comment_2719762

I guess because I don't care about winning and I am low to mid mmr. That and out of the three killers you mentioned I only play twins. Just because you don't get a 4k doesn't mean the map and match is miserable as I've had plenty of fun matches where I got no kills.

I've also had fun matches where I don't get kills, in fact I love being outplayed by players not maps.

You might be the only person in the dbd community that actually likes playing in that map as killer, but still didn't answered the question which is, why is that map not miserable?.

I'm not looking for 4ks only, I look for fun matches, which in that map is hard to get, I know fun is subjective but yeah.

  • @Deadeye said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2719059#Comment_2719059

No it's not just a slap. If you get a VAC ban on steam for example, the game is removed from your account.

And facecamping is a general thing, not bound to low MMR. You see it everywhere

That is why you see a lot of cheaters and a lot of players playing with a VAC account.

And I see it less with actual decent killers than compared to low mmr killers.

  • @AngyKiller said:

No. Then one Survivor will run the Killer around the hook, which will give 2 friends the ability to do healing/repairing 15% faster, each.

So? Another survivor needs to come in or trade, meaning punishing camping, the game detects if the killer/survivor are on a chase it can work with that.

  • Not to be rude but if you snowball as billy these days, you either got really lucky or survivors made some serious mistakes.

Overheat limits some mindgames, roar destroyed most of those mindgames, chainsaw overheating sound makes you go deaf for a bit.

If you ever saw an old billy player using busted addons like insta saw or crack billy to backrev then you knew they were not that good.

The point of crack billy was to curve and pull off some amazing stuff.

Billy got no compensation as well, only got shot by bhvr.

If survivors were competent or payed attention then they could've countered old billy even with those addons.

His map collisions are way worse now but that is map dependant rather than him.

Remove M1 as billy, play like how we play, the real billy mains the ones that stayed with him even after the nerf, don't M1 in any way, and tell me he is fine.

  • Short answer? No.

Normal answer, they should get punished by adding some kind of mechanic kinda like what Scott suggested with kindred, do 15% faster everything if killer is camping.

At this point with all the facecampers I'm down for it.

The little warning box regarding the DDOS situation has been removed, but there has been absolutely zero update despite it being an ongoing issue for well over a month now.

There is no news that the issue has been fixed or an acknowledgement that it is even going to get solved ever. Is BHVR just done with this particular security breach and we are just assumed to shell out a monthly subscription fee to a VPN service if we want to play a game we have already purchased or what?

You seriously think bhvr cares for this game still? But did you know that a cosmetic is for sale?!?!? Now you do, because they added a "sale" on the store!!.

Why worry about ddos, game health and stuff when all they can do is just add sales every now and then.

I don't know why people think this map is so miserable to play on I do fine in most of my matches on the map as both killer and survivor

Survivor has infinites, 3 in fact, 2 totems that are way out of the map, most tiles are safe tiles, most killers that have fun mechanics like blight get nerfed in that map, twins is trash tier there, nurse no LOS, I guess stealth killers can be fun.

If survivors are at least somewhat competent this map turns into a hell for killer, you tell me why is it not miserable.

Lerys is literally tha same and nobody complains hard to find totems, some god pallets that the killers needs to break and it's big

Lerys does not have 3 floors, only has 1, that is why people don't complain about it.

It does have some really good pallets but also has some really bad ones.

There is a thing between high and low MMR, not only "meta <-> noobs"

cheating is not a really high chance, this is a pretty subjective call and cheaters are banned, not just by BHVR also by steam, and this has nothing to do with MMR

facecamping has nothing to do with MMR either

My only concern is the quad MMR adjust on killer side. Does anyone know if there is a mid vlaue calculated? or is killer really adjusted 4 times? because I got the feeling that a single 4k or 4escape lets you jump in MMR waaaay too much. I barely have matches that seem fine regarding skill, like 2-3k. Most of my games are 4k or 0-1

Cheaters win really often so they usually increase MMR they might get banned but it is like a slap on the wrist, for a few days or something.

And I believe facecamping is becoming extremely common in lower MMR, I know I am low MMR on survivor and I haven't played a single match without being facecamped, for every 10 only 2 play normal in average.
