Lithe is probably the best perk in the game for pallet efficiency tbh then. Using that, you can preserve jungle gym and shack pallets for the whole game.

I personally prefer sprint burst as it's my favourite exhaustion perk in the game.

Although when I do use lithe I use dance with me, made a rank 3 Billy DC whilst I was trying to do the Dance with Me rift challenge.

They're cute and all until they start camping.

Pallet greed can get you in trouble, but I suppose it's better than throwing pallets at the drop of a hat.

At least when you're greedy you generally have the right idea even if it gets you into trouble in the short term. You just have to improve execution and you'll be golden. Whereas throwing pallets willy-nilly might seem like it gets you out of trouble, but is a bad habit you might never learn to break.

I know someone who has been playing DBD since 2017, they still just run to pallets and throw them down without much thought. The amount of times I've seen him throw down pallets when the killer was chasing me.

    @Poweas said:

    Or is it just me?

Like, even if I know I'll die, I'll try my best to preserve the pallet, and it usually ends up with my chases ending way earlier than they should. Does anyone else greed it to this extent? Or am I just weird?

Pallet efficiency is an important skill to have, as it allows you or your team mates to reuse those loops later on in the game. When I play killer in the early game I try and chase the survivor who isn't efficient with pallets. Meaning the survivor team will have a lack of resources in mid to late game.

Despite spending the majority of my games being chased by the killer, I often only need to use one or two pallets.

  • Both shouldn't be in the game in my opinion.

They were okay when they first were introduced in 2016, but not now. The game has got somewhat more competitive since then.

Lol really? Whats your PSN name? Good killers on Console are few and we all know each other.

Wouldn't say we know each other, nor would I say I'm a good killer either, just average.

The last time you played against me was when your team brought a Springwood offering, I got a 2k. I had all few survivors slugged a few times, but unbreakable came in clutch.

I had a very bad start, which was mainly due to me playing more casual as I only came back from a three month break, so I was no longer a red rank killer. I wasn't expecting to be in a red rank game.

Hopefully that rings some bells without me having to publicly reveal my gamertag on the forums.

TBH I always assumed how you play that you and your friends only play survivor, due to the amount BM you do. It's as if your sole intention is to just annoy the killer. If you did play killer you would know how stressful playing killer can be.

I'm a decent survivor, I'm one of the few survivors on the PS4 that can moonwalk but I don't go out my way to annoy the killer.

What do you mean doing 360s is easier on console than on PS4? PS4 IS a console.

Quote: "The issue is right now DbD as a new player experience is the worse it has even been ever especially for killer."

Wait... What? When I started in late 2017 survivors used the following every match:

    - REAL instaheals

    - REAL brand new parts

    - REAL god loops

    - pallet vacuum

    - more pallets including god pallets that were not even mindgameable (pre school entrace to name a sample)

    - more windows

    - SAFER windows (Wretched Shop to name a sample)

    - darker cosmetics

    - Balanced Landing passive effect to nearly loop buildings infinitely

    - multiple exhaustion perks if I commited to a chase too long because exhaustion used to cooldown WHILE SPRINTING

    - REAL decisive strike (especially non-obsession decisive strikes that were completely unexpected)

I could list a bunch of other stuff that I remember but you get the point. Playing killer is really easy now.

Ironically I rarely moaned back when I was new. I just played and enjoyed killer gameplay because DBD was completely unique gameplay-wise. Were there any other games like DBD back then that allowed you to hunt down other players like prey?

In my opinion whilst those things were quite overpowered, survivors are a lot more optimal now then they were back then. Meaning the survivors didn't repair the generators as quickly as they do now (unless they all had a brand new part). Personally I think whilst the game is more balanced then it ever has been, playing killer is currently harder now.

    @Zagrid said:

With the anniversary coming and probably a new licensed killer (pinhead) coming as well. New and returned players will be headed for DbD.

The issue is right now DbD as a new player experience is the worse it has even been ever especially for killer.

With matchmaking almost never pairing you with people in the same color rank as you anymore a new player with no perks, no experience, no game knowledge, and no reason to put up with day to day DbD BS. It’s a terrible waste of time, at least to them.

As a new killer you have to contend with learning all of the mechanics of each killer you want to play, learning the maps and what stuff leads to where, learning how to loop efficiently, and finding out mid game all of the 16 survivor perks you have never even scene.

If you ever wonder why killers in low ranks camp and tunnel, it’s because it is the only thing they can do the stand a chance against the fully kitted out survivor side they are facing with only 1 perk and probably no add ons.

Not to mention the queue times encouraging survivor play mid day and killer play at night. When it is statistically more likely to face a SWF sweat squad trying to ruin some killers enjoyment of the game.

All is this is backed up by XQC where he streamed DbD and had this exact experience.

Something needs to change. First things first would be the ranking system being useless if the players you get are all in different color ranks.

Also the argument rank doesn’t matter is so played out. It matter when a rank 20 is compared to a rank 1. But it doesn’t matter from rank 10 to rank 1.

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

There's a lot of tutorials available to new players on youtube. Tutorials helped me a lot when I first started playing DBD in July 2018, whilst I started playing DBD two years after release, I rate myself as a good survivor and an average killer.

Whilst there's more perks now, there's only handful perks that are actually useful, for both survivor and killer.

EDIT: I often coach new players as well as some experienced players, so I have some experience in how new players learn the game.

    • a channel for the doctor, can't remember their name, otz featured them one time.
    • a channel, there's the guy that does super in depth demogoron videos,
    • scropz on the pig
    • michi for the hag.
    • ryuga's whole thing is the legion. there's another guy who also does a ton of legion videos
    • tofu just made that video on nurse. and other great killer guides in general.

like these people have show great use and value out of their favorite killers, and have improved so much and learned so many little things out of them. but i just wanna know where plague players at? because i love her design, she's like visually my favorite and the concept of her power is so cool i feel like i down people just as fast with her as any other killer but i still get rushed so hard so idk where im doing wrong.

also suggestions on other channels/streamers on specific killers are welcome.

Monto and Tru3 have made some good Plague build videos.

However, I say this as someone who plays a lot of solo survivor, I'm glad not many people play Plague. Not because of the killer, but due to randoms loving to cleanse.

  • Wait a minute I've played against them a few times. Surprised I'm not in video, I guess it's because I either won or got a draw (the draw was because of unbreakable).

They're decent survivors, but they're unnecessarily toxic, always using survivor sided map offerings, and using the typical meta perks. I wonder how they would do solo.

EDIT: Interesting how you never see the killer ranks in this video.

EDIT 2: Also due to poor optimization on the PS4, when you're playing killer you suffer a lot of from FPS drops (especially when you're playing on a Middle East server) which often results in miss swings. Being able to do 360's on console is a lot easier to perform at high ranks then it is on the PC.

  • @killde said:

And this dumb game allows it.

There is an ENORMOUS difference between low rank survivors and reds, polar opposites.

A well coordinated red group will make the killer rage quit while lower rank survivors might have a hard time.

This game does NOTHING to combat that. Reds are not playing, they do anything BUT complete objectives unless the objective is to torture the killer in which case they're acing it.

Developers are out of their mind if they think this is by any means enjoyable. In any other game in the world people always still put some effort into the objective whether it's shooting or capturing, in dbd there's 0 of that in higher ranks.

Just curious what is your player level?

I've been rank 1 as both survivor and killer since September 2018, the reason red rank killer games are more frustrating then lower rank games is due to how survivors focus on completing their objective. Which is completing generators.

The biggest issue with DBD is that survivors are able to complete generators too quickly, even if you are applying a lot of pressure.

Going by your post I assume you've been having survivors swarm you, trying to get you to chase them. What you have to remember if you get all the survivors trying to swarm you, trying get you to chase them, they are not working on generators. iI will make your objective of sacrificing them easier.

I'm assuming you're still new to the game, but there are a lot of tutorials available on Youtube about structures and how to counter common loops as killer. Plus there are many Youtubers who upload a lot of killer gameplay, who you can learn from. The videos I'm linking are old but they have helped me to get better as a killer.

I agree with you, of course. Most of the time its not overly useful, but you can't mandate people playing optimally.

A lot of the time in groups, they get super altruistic like you said. At that time, it goes from extremely bad to super effective.

Often when SWF's become overly altruistic, it's no longer camping as you know the other survivors will soon swarm the hook, so you have no reason to leave the area.

Although regarding SWF's this may contradict my last post, but sometimes it's effective to focus on the rank 15 friend, often it won't take long down them, they often won't have DS, and their more experienced friends will give you free hits to protect the rank 15. It's scummy, but they're already have the advantage of comm's.

  • @Tiersis said:

I consider it legitimate game play, that is sometimes a good idea and sometimes not.

A killer should play the game in a manner that best ensures they have fun. For most, that means getting as many kills as possible.

If you don't have fun tunneling, don't do it. If its great for you, do it. Same for camping and slugging.

There are perks that can counter play just about any / all of this, and even without the perks your team could either try and save you, or use you as a distraction to ensure the rest of you escape.

IMO, if I play survivor and a killer decides to tunnel and camp me, I hope my team uses every second available that the killer is occupied with me as a chance to get an escape.

As killer, I usually only use these tactics when they are beneficial to getting the kills.

That said, I have changed my "win" objective in my head before in the case of Toxic survivors. Click a flashlight at me? Point? Teabag? I'll ignore all and let everyone escape just to I can basement camp you and make sure you die. I'm fine with that, and its satisfying.

As long as you aren't committing a bannable offense, play the way you want.

Tunneling and camping may be legitimate strategies but they are ineffective strategies in most red rank games. If you're camping or tunneling one survivor. You're not providing any pressure to the other three survivors, meaning they can work on generators unchallenged.

If the survivors aren't stupidly overly altruistic, tunneling and camping is a sure way to throw the game.

Although you kinda need to slug at red ranks, even at five gens.

  • I too play survivor and killer at red ranks.

Camping is when a killer is staying by the hooked survivor with no intention of leaving the hook, even if they know the other survivors are not in the area.

Camping is not when the killer knows or suspect that their is another survivor in the area. The killer is not going to leave an area where the majority of the survivors are.

However a lot of survivors who do not play killer, expect the killer to just allow them free hook saves.

Tunneling is when the killer focuses on one particular survivor and ignoring the other survivors. For example if the killer is chasing a survivor and then immediately abandons the chase the moment, just so they can go back to and focus on the unhooked survivor. That's tunneling.

What's not tunneling is when the killer downs and slugs the unhooked survivor after they are immediately farmed off the hook to provide pressure. If the unhooked survivor runs into the killer. If the unhooked survivor starts working on a generator, and the killer chases them and downs them to prevent them from completing that generator.

When the killer is actually tunneling and camping, it's extremely ineffective in most red rank games.

If the killer is camping, just work on generators and escape, that way the killer will only get 1k and very little blood points.

If the killer is tunneling a survivor and they are unable to down that survivor, the best thing you can do to help that survivor is by working on generators. Often when a survivor tries to helped a strong looper, they normally do more harm then good. Not only are they wasting time by not completing generators, but they can also get in the looper's way or use pallets that the looper wouldn't have needed to use until later.

Also tunneling a bad survivor is often ineffective, as often they'll have DS. Taking a DS hit, costs too much time for the killer which they can't afford.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/153808/biggest-issue-with-balance-in-dbd

The biggest issue with balance is not generators. How much easier do they have to make downing survivors for killers though? How much smaller are the maps going to get? How much worse are loops going to be or the amount of pallets? How come they haven’t done anything about Mori’s? It’s not fun coming in and being a part of your Mori montage or stare at myself on a hook all game. How much more do they need to nerf survivors? To where it’s just unplayable and you get easier 4Ks just handed to you? Are you playing yellow ranks?

Jungle gyms, walls aren't the issue. Looping is a big part of survivor game play, it separates the good survivors from the average to bad survivors. Infinite loops were an issue, but they got reworked.

I personally don't use Mori's and keys as I don't think have no place in DBD in 2020.

I'm actually a survivor main, and the nerfs were needed.

  • @TomTom1 said:

To be fair, I am a survivor main and I don't play killer at all. As we all know there is a lot of survivors and killers complaining about the other side. So let's talk about certain problems of both sides.

Camping can be an opportunity for the survivors. When killer is camping a hooked survivor it gets really easy to repair the rest of gens and escape. Escape can be hard for a hooked survivor, but that's why we have decisive strike and borrowed time, right? Camping is not even a good thing for a killer. You're just staying next to the Hook, you're not chasing anybody and you gain extremly low bloodpoints.

Tunneling is probably the only one good killers "toxic" tactic. It gives killer the possibility to eliminate a survivor really fast. Once again, you can just use DS.

I am not gonna talk much about slugging. It's just pointless for a killer. You are basically refusing to gain bloodpoints for hooking someone. I am wondering if you can actually rank up doing that. It's not even that problematic for survivors. Not many people uses unbreakable, but you can just recover and then wait for someone to help you.

Alright, now let's talk about NOED.

NOED is the only one perk I am talking about, that needs rework. It's so annoying when killer didn't hooked any survivor before gens were repaired, but he kills almost entire team in endgame because of one perk. It's overpowered when survivors play solo queue, but when you play swf it can be totally useless. The point is that when I'm playing with friends we always cleanse every dull totems before last gen is done.

Alright, let's talk about decisive strike.

Yes, it's a good perk. No, it shouldn't be nerfed. It's a good counter for a lot of killers strats, especially tunneling and camping (survivors obviously consider them as toxic strats). It's amazing perk that gives survivors second chance. Killers can camp and tunnel people all the time, but survivors can use DS once per game. Seems fair to me.

I'm a survivor main, and I believe DS should get nerfed.

IMO DS should deactivate the moment the survivor repairs a generator, as if they're ready to repair a generator then they are ready to go back on the hook.

Yes, easy. But such games are not interesting to me or this killer. Not enough points, sometimes -1 pip. I would rather die against a skilled killer who doesn't play like a tryhard. If at the same time I get from 10-13k bloodpoints and at least a black pip... this is ok for me.

I'm a mediocre killer, but when I see survivors playing worse than me, I give them a chance. I try not to do things that I would not like as a survivor. Often I let everyone go except toxic players (If I caught them, of course :D)

There are players for killers who always want to get 4k, who like to get "-rep" to their profiles, who just hate survivors and love their suffering etc. I wrote them sarcastic comments. Now I'm trying to accept these facts and imagine them as NPC, as bots. I have not yet got rid of hatred for them :(

Fortunately, I rarely see both tryhards and weak killers :)

I play at red ranks as killer so I always assume the survivors are red ranks, if a survivor is struggling against me, then they might not belong in red ranks. If I go easy on them, they'll either safety or pip meaning they'll continue to go into matches where there out of their depth, they'll continue to have unfun matches.

As I said in my previous post I'm a solo survivor main, when I see a weak survivor it just reminds me the amount of times I have really long chases with the killer, but the gens haven't been completed due to boosted randoms. Killer mains get triggered by T bagging and flashlight spamming, I get triggered when survivors waste pallets, use Urban Evasion and/or Self Care.

EDIT: I've played this game for nearly two years, I'm past caring about how many blood points and pips I get. As long as I get a 4k, I'm happy.

    And more of that.

Thing is if the survivors are red ranks, they should expect to go against a good killers. Not every match is going be against a rank 12 Pig.

Only thing is, she had an active RBT on her head. Yeah, thanks for the third kill Feng. Glad you thought you'd teabag me and get out instead of trying to take off your party hat. However, DBD is one of those games where you have your good days and your bad days. Some days I won't play against any top SWF team's other days I'll be getting top SWF teams constantly.

Huntress with her hitboxes and song.

But I really hate when killers are tryhards against weak survivors.

I often get called a try hard when I play killer. Often when I get called a "try hard" the game was actually quite easy, I wasn't having to try my best. I'm a red rank killer I go into every game with the mindset that I'm possibly playing against a top SWF team. By the time I realize the group of survivors I'm playing against are below par it's too already too late.

Plus I'm a solo survivor main, I have the mindset if I go easy on bad survivors I'll be boosting them. Increasing the chances that I will have them as randoms when I play as killer.

And still the Survivors lost in OPs Post and in the video.

I won, however killers shouldn't get stressed playing against survivors far below their skill level. If I'm playing against bad red rank survivors I should be able to have a chill game.

Contrast to when I play survivor and I play against a killer far below my skill level, it becomes an extremely chill game.

    1. Freddy: For obvious reasons.
    2. Ghostface: Due to his broken mechanic, you can expose him behind a rock other times you can't knock him out of his power when you staring directly at him. This has become a problem since dedicated servers were released.
    3. Plague: Just because I play solo a lot, and randoms love cleansing.

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The moment you realize the killer is bad, you should be cleansing totems. I can always tell when a killer is using NOED by how they play.

The real answer to why there bad killers at red ranks is the same answer to why there are bad survivors at red ranks. It's due to the current rank reset system. With the old rank reset system you use to always get bad players in red ranks towards the end of the season, now those players that don't belong in red ranks just stay there.

EDIT: Also when I play killer I always notice bad survivors at red ranks always seem to have DS.

    My main builds are:

Bond, Sprint Burst, Resilience, Spine Chill

Bond, Sprint Burst, Iron Will, Borrowed Time

Despite having an enduring picture as your avatar I wonder if you actually play killer at high ranks. It's very obvious when a group of survivors are SWF. As I mentioned in my main post, even when you do get a 4k against a top SWF the game still wasn't an enjoyable game.

The developers disagree. Strong looper or no, loops shouldn't allow you to 1v1 the killer. Why do you think they're being reworked? It's not because they're balanced.

Thing is I'm often accused of being a killer main on these forums due to some of my killer sided views and I would agree if you were talking about the infinities that got reworked, survivors should not be able to run around them with the killer not being down the survivor. As it was a brain dead loop, which took zero skill to use. It's apart of my survivor code of honour to avoid using these loops when I play survivor.

However, I play killer at red ranks I see no issue with jungle gyms and shack. In my opinion those structures are balanced as there's counter play for the killer. If I'm able to use shack and jungle gyms for a long period of time it isn't due to these structures being imbalanced it's due to killer's misplays, and making bad reads.

Being able to run the killer for a long period of time, is the difference between a good survivor and your average to bad survivor. The best part of playing survivor is being chased by the killer.

If a killer decides to waste their time chasing a strong survivor, then that killer is throwing the game. It's rare that you'll go against four strong loopers in one match. Often there is only one or two. The killer should focus on the weaker survivors, then worry about the strong survivor towards the end of the game.

Anyway this post isn't about whether looping should be a thing in DBD, more about pallet spawn and structure RNG.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1277102#Comment_1277102

    Bloodlust 3.

Being chased for 5 minutes is not intended and is, in fact, proof of how unbalanced loops are. You're not supposed to be able to 1v1 the killer unless there's a massive difference in skill.

I play killer as well I don't think shack and jungle gyms are unbalanced, they're counter able if you play them right and use mind games. The killer shouldn't be chasing strong loopers anyway. If I see a strong looper when I play killer, unless there's four of them I'm going to focus on the weaker survivors.

    @PrettyFaceKate said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1277107#Comment_1277107

There's no set up that allows 5 min chases, even without bloodlust. A 5 min chases is only proof of poor gameplay by the killer. Even 45 seconds at a single L/T wall is highly questionable, because a hit should be scored on that tile even before bloodlust kicks in.

I don't just stay at an L and T wall, when the killer guesses wrong with a mind game I use that distance to get to the next tile.

    EDIT:

    @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1277110#Comment_1277110

Then either OP is lying, or facing killers well below their skill level.

I record my games, and time duration of when I'm being chased. Often if the killer doesn't give up on me my chases last over five minutes. if a survivor knows the map well enough, and has good chase route plan then a five minute chase is possible.

I'm I able to stay alive for five minutes in chases each match, no but my target is still either to make the killer give up on me or to get chased as long as possible.

Yes, often I do get killers who are below my skill level, but I'm rank 1 it's not my fault (it's not like I'm smurfing or deranking). Often those killers are red ranks.

  • @Orion said:

BL3 takes 45 seconds to get, minimum. Are you saying being chased for (at least) 45 seconds is "nothing"?

BL3? I don't know what you mean, do you mean the shop? I don't like looping around the shop, it feels cheap and boring, I rather use Shack and jungle gyms, where there's mind game potential.

I personally try to last a lot longer then 45 seconds in a chase. For me if I'm playing well I aim to be chased for at least five minutes before the killer is able to down me (if the killer decides to commit).

There is nothing wrong with self-care. Folks get down on it, but look at this video as an example, she gets Dwight off the ground and heads off. He is injured and there are only the 2 of them. Had he had the opportunity to get away from the killer, he would have been stuck. I have switched to using Inner Strength because it is faster but I do not go into a match generally w/o heals. I am a red rank survivor (4).

Now I have had folks with bond use it to sand bag and lead the killer and that sucks. What Dwight did in this video sucks but Kate also got him up, left him injured and made no attempt to distract the killer or lead her away from the injured guy. So I can understand why Dwight was mad about how this was going down.

Not knowing more info but seeing that they needed 4 gens, the best idea most likely would have been to let Dwight bleed out and make it a hatch game. This round obviously went very bed before Dwight was leading the killer to Kate.

I've been a rank 1 survivor since September 2018 (minus a few months where I took breaks from the game). Survivors shouldn't be using self care at red ranks. Healing yourself wastes too much time, time you should be using to repair generators, cleansing totems, saving team mates. As long you plan your chase routes properly you shouldn't need to worry about needing to heal yourself.

Also if you spend more time working on generators you'll need to heal less anyway, as the game will be shorter.

  • I mainly play solo when I want to play survivor competitively, I'll focus on repairing generators that won't cause a 3 gen strat. Playing solo helps you improve as a survivor.

If I'm not playing solo then I'm playing Duos, it's rare that I'll play in a 4 man SWF. I'll tend to focus on having fun rather then trying to escape, such as blowing up the generator with my friend, sandbagging my friends (They sandbag me), doing Head on builds, just memeing about. There's no point "try harding" in SWF.

  • @Eric_arklance said:

I was doing a gen when the other survivor left in the trial was downed by killer.

I navigated my way to the other side of the map to pick him up and stay hidden.

But this coward while being chased by the killer, used Bond perk to come to my hiding location to let the killer know of my spot TWICE! The first time killer did not see me, then 2nd time he came back again within 3 seconds and this time killer saw me.

The killer also has no chill and try hard 4k. If I was the killer I would hv let the victim for and let the troll knows it is unacceptable.

Question to devs: isn't it consider as helping/working with the killer if the survivor using bond perk to bring killer to other survivor's location?! It is time for u guys to do something!

    See it for yourself:

    https://youtu.be/bn3akBUNiuU

Why are you using self care in 2020?

Self caring yourself wastes too much time where you could be using to repair a generator. Replace self care with resilience not only are you being rewarded for being injured, but it goes great with spine chill to create a fast vault build.

Once you stop using self care, the better chances you have of escaping and ranking up.

I dont know how what you just said relates to what I'm saying thats great you play well with leatherface. Im glad someone can. 🤷‍♂️

Leatherface is easy to play as but he's a weak killer. His strength matches his difficulty to master.

I dont give two flying Wraiths about whether you consider yourself or if you actually are a Killer/Survivor/Main Menu main. I simply believe that your issue has a much simpler solution. You said it yourself; "I just don't enjoy playing as him as much I do as other killers". If you dont like playing, you dont play him.

    Seriously?

Just because I don't enjoy a killer as much as I do some other killers. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy playing as them.

If I didn't enjoying playing as Freddy I wouldn't have bothered leveling him, never alone playing as him.

For example I like apples and oranges, however I prefer apples, but that doesn't mean I dislike oranges.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1270602#Comment_1270602

Yeah I get that, I dont play him as much anymore either for the same reason. That doesnt change my point that its a ridiculous argument to make that a killer needs to be changed simply because he isnt hard to learn. Thats crazy talk. And i play in red ranks with almost all the killers (though about half Im weak with). Im not saying they should make all killers easier, Im saying not every killer should be as difficult to learn as a nurse or billy and they should still be viable. Killers like nurse and billy are rewarding for entirely different reasons. Doc is a good mix of the two. Hes viable but takes some getting used to, but not the levels of nurse or billy.

Leatherface is one of the killers I main. On paper Leatherface is one the weakest killers in the game. However, as I play a lot of Leatherface, my Leatherface will be stronger and harder to play against a lot of other player's Spirit's, Billy's, Huntresses etc.

I can consistently get 4k's with Leatherface at red ranks, it doesn't mean Leatherface is strong, far from it. It just means I'm able to play Leatherface to near his full potential. The stronger the killer the higher the potential that killer can be effective during matches.

Another example one of the best killers I've played against is a Clown main (another weak killer). I find playing against his Clown a lot harder then other killers playing stronger killers.

  • @PigNRun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1270602#Comment_1270602

Then... play something else. Why change a Killer because you dont like playing them when you could just focus on Killers you actually enjoy, rather than attempt to ruin other people's experience by changing a Killer they enjoy? I dont like playing Wraith because his power is beyond plain, but you dont see me going around saying "Fix Wraith so he actually takes skill to use stealth".

Someone didn't bother reading my main thread or post, just jumping to conclusions that I'm just another survivor main asking for killer nerfs.

I think you're ignoring part where I said I actually play Freddy, he's my third strongest killer. If I didn't like playing as Freddy I would not play as him. I just don't enjoy playing as him as much I do as other killers. I feel he's too simple to play compared to how strong he is.

Killers who are at similar strength level; Nurse, Spirit, and Hillbilly are a lot harder to learn then Freddy. It's why I believe Freddy either needs to become harder to use effectively or his power to be made weaker so that his power matches his difficulty to play as. Otherwise there would no need to bother to learn how to play Spirit, Nurse or Billy, when you could just play Freddy and get the same results.

Also I must stress this is my opinion, other people consider Spirit to be a "no skill, easy to learn killer". Whilst I disagree with that opinion, I believe she does take time to learn.

Furthermore, I'm a survivor main that believes there should be a few survivor nerfs. Does that make me something that want to ruin the gaming experience of other survivor mains? No it doesn't, it just means I play both survivor and killer at high ranks, and which has gave me the opinion that the game is currently survivor sided rather then balanced.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1270483#Comment_1270483

    The problem about freddy is:

Little time investment needed to learn his power in relation to how strong his power is.

One would have to make it either harder to learn/use his power OR weaken his power a bit in order to make him fairer to verse.

I agree with other killers such as Spirit and the Doctor rework, I had to spend time away from red ranks as killer whilst I learnt how to play those killers. Whilst my first game with current Freddy was at rank 1 and I finished the match with Merciless killer (it was on Shelter Woods mind you).

    @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1270555#Comment_1270555

Again I ask, so? Why is it required for a killer to require a considerable time investment before you can start enjoying your time with him? Wouldnt making some killers more accessible lessen the stress on killers (which is one of the complaints I hear)? Why is Freddy "unfair" just because the killer didnt have to sink a ton of time into learning him like Nurse or Billy? This just seems like a really weird level of thinking to me. Freddy is counterable, he can be beaten if you know how to play against him. So why is it a problem for you that the person playing with him didnt spend a crap ton of time mastering him to be able to compete with you?

As I mentioned in my original post I play Freddy, and he's actually my third strongest killer despite him not being one of the main killers I play as. The reason I don't main him is that I don't find him as enjoyable as Doctor, Billy, and Leatherface. The reason is that I did not have to spend much time learning how to play Freddy Optimally.

This might just be me, but when I get a 4k against experienced survivors I get a lot more pride and self reward by winning with a killer I put time and effort into mastering. With Freddy I just don't get the same level of pride as I do from winning with other killers.

Also granted survivor is easier then killer, but being able to loop a rank 1 killer does take some skill. You have to be able to plan your chase routes, which takes game and map knowledge. You'll need to be good with mind games. Have good decision making, etc. There's a reason why playing at red ranks as killer is a lot harder then playing killer at rank 10.

And when you're awake? It does trigger against freddy too with the right timing, just how i mentioned in one of my first posts in this thread.

I know that it triggers if you're not in dream state. However, there's a simple work around. Smack the guy whose attempting the unhook, the unhooker is in dream state. If survivor still attempted to unhook the hooked survivor you are then able to down the unhooker and the unhooked hooker quite easily.

Imo BT should work against whether you're in dream state or awake. This is coming from someone who plays Freddy.

Please understand that I have like no nice hair for Nea and that's the only one I can stand.... if they would actually add NICE hairstyles for her, I'd use them in a heartbeat! But all of her other hairstyles that I have.... yuck....

At least I'm on PC, and that Bubba facecamped another Nea as well.... maybe he just feels "threatened" by Nea players! 😂

    The basic beanie?

  • @gatsby said:

There's literally no point. Slugging at 5 gens and one hooking everyone because you have crazy add-ons makes all Survivors de-rank and at best gives you brutal killer.

If a team is doing that bad, I usually start hooking instead of slugging and let them save so I can farm a merciless killer and end the game at 2-3 gens instead of 5.

If I'm presented with an opportunity to slug I will, whether it's at five gens or gate is powered up. I try to play as fair as possible but I personally don't see anything wrong with slugging. The reason the killer is able to slug to begin with is due to the survivor team making a mistake.

What you got to remember this game is still survivor sided, if I'm presented with an opportunity to win the game I will. If I don't then I could potentially lose the game. Either side in a winning position can change in an instant, I rather not take any chances. I've played this game for nearly two years and I'm past caring about pipping and ranking up, I just want to get a that 4k.

It's not the killers fault for if the survivors derank, the survivors are losing pips because they did not play well. It's no different if the killer losing pips because they decided to waste all their time chasing that one good looper. Frankly I rather have bad survivors losing pips as I'm less likely to get them as team mates when I'm playing survivor.

    Just no.

The devs shouldn't be nerfing B tier killers, there's nothing wrong with having strong killers. The Devs should be balancing the game around rank 1 not balancing the game around rank 20.

If you played Doctor at red ranks, you won't be thinking that Doctor is easy. As most killer games at red ranks aren't easy, as a simple miss swing can cost you the game.

When I play survivor I have no issues playing against him, as I play a lot of Doctor I know his strengths and weaknesses. Before you say that I'm a killer main, I'm actually a survivor main.

  • Bring back the old rank reset system: Ever since the current rank reset system was brought in red ranks have been increasingly diluted with players that don't belong there. Also I believe it's the cause of the issues with Match making as it has created too many red rank survivors compared to red rank killers.

Remove keys and Mori offerings: Both do not belong in a somewhat competitive game.

Increase the time it takes to repair a generator or make it easier for the killer to patrol generators: Survivors have become a lot more optimal then they were a couple of years ago.

Nerf NOED: My issue with NOED is that it boosts killers to a higher rank where they do not belong. I've lost count the amount of times a red rank killer plays like a rank 15, then it turns out they have NOED. How I would nerf NOED is that you can only instant down the survivor you hit first. After you down one survivor, the rest of the survivors lose their exposed status, however, you keep your speed boost.

Nerf DS: I believe DS should deactivate the moment a survivor starts repairing a generator.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/138679/a-survivor-mains-ds-nerf-idea#latest

Rework Haddonfield: Maybe make it similar to Springwood.

Remove or rework Shelter Woods: I already made a post on my thoughts on Shelter Woods: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/97048/shelter-woods#latest

Rework Disturb Ward: Already made post about Disturb Ward: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/121662/disturbed-ward-is-just-as-bad-as-haddonfield-imo#latest

    Make Yamoaka less dark

Either nerf Freddy or make him harder to play as: I play as Freddy, but he's an easy killer to master but one of the strongest killers in the game, therefore he doesn't feel rewarding to play as him. Plus he's incredibly dull to play against.

    BT should work against Freddy

I lobby dodge my own teammates as well, haha.... especially if one of them has a key, has TTV in their name, or is a bunny Feng Min. Gotta stay away from those moris! Although I just got facecamped to death by a Bubba in red ranks, so you can't win 'em all I guess.

And I'll have you know that I play Nea with the Close Cut hairstyle, and I haven't used Urban Evasion in months, nor do I even have Self-Care unlocked for my other Survivors 😏

Punishing a lobby of completely unrelated Survivors for the actions of Survivors in a previous game.... Lol

This must be why I get facecamped by Bubbas even though neither me nor any of my teammates have toxic names or are using items. Very fun!

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/907/2JZXEMC3Y1B6.png

Please consider taking out your frustrations elsewhere, nobody likes to be facecamped (and deranked) for something they had no part in.

You have no idea how much I dislike that cosmetic, call Nea's with a close cut hair as Elvis hair Nea's . I will always dodge the lobby if I see one, and face camp them as killer (it's the only reason I will ever face camp).

In custom games I normally play meme builds and let everyone live, but three of my friends decided use the close cut cosmetic on Nea as they knew I hate that cosmetic. I played as Doctor (my main) with iridescent king, mouldy electrode, and an ebony mori.

I've even created a cult dedicated to disliking Elvis hair Nea's. That Bubba may just dislike Elvis hair Nea's too.

I don't really care if Killers dodge the lobby for whatever reason right now. But I dont think we need to give them any additional reasons/means to lobby dodge. Survivors don't get that luxury at all. If lobby dodging was meant to be a "strategy", survivors would get to see the killer and everyone would get to see the map. So strat, not so much. The game was meant to be a 'get what you get' of sorts. But does it currently really matter? Nah.

Actually we do, if I see a close cut Nea or even just a basic Nea or a basic Meg I'm out of there. Often they're running self care, urban evasion or even both.

Borrowed Time works against every killer that got a TR when attacking. So every killer except mirror michael.

It's just too strong when combined with other second chances.

If you're in dream state against Freddy, BT won't trigger.

From someone who plays Freddy (whilst he isn't one of mains) I think BT should work if you are in dream state, as you shouldn't need to camp with Freddy.

I am almost always the one who does the most gens. I just like to play with urban evasion.

Trust me there's better worthwhile perks to use. Urban evasion was an alright perk to use in 2018 but not now.

I find being chased by a rank 1 killer the most exciting thing about playing survivor but that's just me.

  • @NursesBootie said:

DS, BT, Unbreakable and DH/SB works against any killer. That's the problem.

Actually BT doesn't work against Freddy (unless it's been changed, I wouldn't know I took a 3 month break).

I play killer at rank 1 (I've often had to prove that I'm a survivor main on these forums due to some of my more killer sided views), I still don't why BT is always mentioned in the same bracket as DS, dead hard, unbreakable, object of obsession etc.

I personally don't have issue with BT as it's the best perk to counter campers. Granted there's a lot of survivors who use it as an excuse farm their fellow survivors off the hook.

    EDIT:

I'm mad i don't see flip flop or boil over used more. So many interesting perks but most r1 survivors use the same predictable builds...

Boil over is one the worst survivor perks. That's like saying why don't killers use Monstrous Shrine or mind breaker.

Trust me you don't want to see flip flop as the only survivors that seem to use that are sabo squads. I've lost count the amount of times I've gone against a sabo squad that would borderline hold my killer matches hostage.

i also use urban evasion because i like to play stealthy.

You don't need to use urban evasion to be stealthy, if you prefer to play a stealthy watch Painreliever. He has a stealthy play style yet plays quite optimal.

A good stealth build would be bond, sprint burst, iron will, and spine chill.

However, in my opinion you don't need to play stealthy in DBD. If you aren't being chased work on a generator, and whilst you're working on the generator have a planned chase route in mind in case the killer decides to disrupt your gen progress.

i did about 2 and a half gens opened the door and left, dont know what the killer was doing as i never seen him/her. but yeah the match making is bad

Considering you had the most amount of points, it's most likely the killer was away from their keyboard/controller. Also what you have in mind is that it's approaching rank reset, and that killer is rank 12. A lot of killers intentionally AFK to derank so that they get reset further back.

  • Away from keyboard. Meaning the killer was just standing still all game.

Also I just noticed, why are there rank 2 survivors using urban evasion and self care in 2020? That's the most shocking thing about this image.

  • Surely the killer must have been AFK?

I've gotten 8k blood points after I loaded into a match without realizing.

  • @Deadeye said:

Looking at some lists here, I would definitely say that I need two lists. One for basekit and one considering addon usage. And should our lists be based on how we perform with them or based on what we think of the killer in general, expecting to somehow master the killer power?

More to do with how strong the killer is when they are played by you.

For example Spirit is one of the strongest killers in the game, and Leatherface is one of the weakest killers. However, as my Leatherface is one of my mains he's a lot stronger than my Spirit.

  • @yadielrodriguez said:

One thing that I don't understand why killers get mad when they get flash on the face Everytime especially with swf and red ranks like now days survivors will use flashlight and is simpler to stop them just use lightborn because honest I use it for couples time on wraith and it save my life and it work well with bubba and some other Killers but it sad that killers think underated perks like lightborn it not necessary but think about it without it and you get flashlight that will take a lot of your time and also not getting any kill and I see this on some videos from YouTubers so again this is just a tip to survive against flashlight.

I think the reason killers don't like them is that if you have a survivor spamming their flashlight, it can interfere with tracking through sound. Also playing as killer at red ranks can be stressful, as one single mistake can you cost you the game. Even a simple miss swing can you cost you the game against optimal survivors. So if a survivor is able to make a flashlight save it can cost you the game.

Although, I personally don't mind facing flashlights as a killer. If I have a survivor chasing me with a flashlight (they normally stop once they realize that I'm a somewhat decent killer) or hovering around trying to make a flashlight save, then that's one survivor not working on a generator.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 10
