I'll be keeping an eye out for a suspect porkchop then 🐗👀

If its an all bloody pig acting kinda sus then it could be me. That's the main cosmetic I run on her other than Pig Leather.

Too painful only him on console as much I like him. If you would been pc then yes with the flicks and 180s.

Yeah, I feel ya. The flicks make such a difference and having that taken away handicaps his peak performance. I think he'll still be fun but I'm working twice as hard for the same, if not less payoff.

At least we know now he’s getting nerfed eventually since they said so in the AMA. I’m still wondering why it took this long though.

I heard they had to find ol' boy's number who designed Blight and ask him to come back.

    The pain isn't worth it.

He's definitely a high-skill killer. The problem I have with him is similar to the one I have with Billy on console. Bad sensitivity on console, Painfully slow turning, and probably a tier or two down from the PC version. Compared to the other killers I play, he doesn't really have much more to offer, but I have always loved his design so it suuuuuucks to have to pass on him over every time.

I love Oni too. I wish it was easier to flick with him on a controller. It may seem like a small thing but it makes a large difference to how he feels to play to me.

I sometimes look at all the Oni cosmetics in-store I'd like to buy, thinking how great it would be to be a terrifying Oni that could 180 tech on-demand and play those tight loops at strong tiles.

  • I'm surprised no one around the dev table said, "You know, our community doesn't like strong perks and cries out NERF anytime we release anything that causes them a minor inconvenience. Why don't we scale this one back a few notches."

To loosely paraphrase what someone else had mentioned before. Getting into chases faster and theoretically trying to speed up gameplay is the direction devs are headed in with the game. I wonder if we will see more non-totem perks that have multiple effects bundled in.

The thing is: we don't know. If they only rolled back Xeno to its PTB version no one would bat an eye. According to the documentation they went two extra steps, made turrets stronger by making them more generousl to place down and not only implemented the tail slow down that was by working before, but also increased the penalty further.

If that was the case, there would be grumbling, but in the end killers would just play with a more fair, slightly "nerfed" version. But many players, myself included, experience a far steeper performance drop, missing shots that telegraph as clear hits and survivors easily dodging 8 tail strikes in a row.

BHVR probably did some tail code optimisation that scrambled something up. I actually expect that they will clear this up Monday or Tuesday, as the Alien is not behaving like it should, but people all over are overreacting: one side claiming that Xeno is now trashtier and shall never be touched again, and the other side coming down hard via "now you see how boosted you were! You deserve this misses! ". I think most people don't realize that the tail code got busted up in the update. At least I hope so. If not and I am wrong with this assessment: RIP Xenos

Good to see you back, Aku. Thanks for sharing those details.

  • Like y'all don't understand I will let a last surv out from time to time, but I rarely let them in on it. Even if I'm farming I like to rough them up some throughout the match just to keep them on their toes while I'm going for 12-hooks or whatever... Like, yeah I'm not going to kill you but YOU DONT KNOW THAT. So the Pig just standing there, watching you open gate warms a piece of me.

  • @CatnipLove said:

Also that's so me just standing there....MENACINGLY.. with the stain on surv back as they open the gate.

Yea, it's back now, sort of. It's run on private servers. NCSoft is aware and at this time they don't care as long as no profit is made. One of the servers is also allegedly in negotiations with them to try to buy the rights, but has been for a few years. Even back when it was first shut down Neil Gaiman and Mercedes Lackey tried to buy the rights but NCSoft allegedly wanted 80 million dollars for the IP and no way even Neil Gaiman can afford that. Too bad Bill Gates wasn't a fan, huh? LOL

Yeah, or another eccentric billionaire like Bezos/Musk. Or a company dealing with MMOs like Funcom. That is a shame. If they rereleased it now in 2023 on a more modern engine and keep a lot of those same features like character creation, base building, and demo record, it could be better than DCUO.

So since this is the off-topic forums, any of you out there old players of City of Heroes/City of Villains? I was just reminded of this. They had a "demorecord" and "demoplay" feature that you could record a game session to a text file, then play it back later. So players quickly figured out how simple these text files were to create manually, and voila:

Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye out for those skins 👌

I will take your advice and just keep throwing myself at them. Although I should probably give up after they hook me once. Usually I'll come off the hook and use my endurance to go for another boop 🤣

Anytime 👌. Odd question, but when do you Boop the most?

I find some people Boop first time they see pig, some will do it mid-chase, and others might wait until end-game as to not disturb gameplay trying to memeing with Ms. Piggy.

By the way, any tips for identifying a Pig main? I just throw myself at all of them and hope for the best lmao

Not many. Pigs are unpredictable, like wild horses. Sometimes, you just have to throw yourself at them and just let the cards fall where they may. Typically tho:

Black Jacket = Dangerous Main. NOT FRIENDLY. Stay Away; Red Flag if they use VT + R2 w/ Lethal.

Bloody Piggy w/ Bloody Weapon or BoS = Main, but will always be a gamble that they aren't just there to do a 4k run using Tampered Timer + CoG.

teddy since when did they have lincoln tho?

They just added Lincoln recently with the Leader Pass. He's actually pretty solid for dom and culture wins w/ America. industrial buildings give you free beefy melee-units so you end up with a decent military with +strength modifiers just for building what you'd be building normally in cities anyway.

  • Lincoln or Teddy America? America was in my game too, they just went out in an earlier era. My games always end up going for Domination somehow.

  • You're plugged in with all that incoming information. Had them on lockdown the whole match and UW in the pocket when needed. That's a nasty build, not even a chance to be sneaky for hatch. Very cool Doc fashion btw. The Yui was cute too

The funny part is it is basically the exact same cooldown as static blast since 30 second duration 30 second cooldown. Static blast is 60 seconds. So you can run it on like doc for double blast basically. One which reveals in lockers as well. Good for a interrupt build.

    Very good tip, dude!

I had a passing thought yesterday about how a perk like Distressing might synergize with UW if it was put into a build focused around harassing survs with TR. I could see Doc players having a lot of fun being a menace

  • Solid write-up. I'd also say this Chapter was a success, and part of that is because it feels like the Devs listened to feedback and addressed some of the issues people have been having with recently released Killers. It can handle strong SWF, strong chase power and mobility, quick travel around map, and survs don't entirely control how much impact your power has. Disregarding the tail's performance currently, i'd say this chapter is a buy for anyone on the fence. Don't pass on it.

Probably A-tier, I think its still too early to call

I would be inclined to agree, but it is still pretty early. I'd put him ahead of Wesker, but they are fairly equal and would be competing for the spot. if it came down to a matchup between someone like Spirit vs. Xeno I'd probably give it to Spirit. Though, I have been playing Rin since her release. Not head over heels like @GannTM , but she is still very strong after all this time. Now take a matchup like Artist vs. Xeno and i'd say Xeno. Hag vs Xeno? Xeno as well.

It does have a cool down, the wiki just doesn't list it for some reason.

The actual in game description is:

When they spot you, they know the end is near

When you open a locker, this perk activates for 30 seconds.

Survivors entering your Terror Radius scream, reveal their position and gain Blindness for 30 seconds.

This perk goes on cooldown for 40/35/30 seconds.

Ah, you're correct. That last line needs to be added whenever they update the official wiki. So yeah, like Doc's area shock CD. Still, little enough CD to where the sequence of surv being found -> chased -> downed -> hooked should see it back up in time to find a new chase. Or decide if one chase is going on too long and it's time to drop chase and find a new target to harass.

  • @Annso_x said:

Yes, still no solid offical info on some things that are and are not intended. Bug reports can only give so much information. I just want to know if hitting through objects is intended, and is the tail supposed to fit through the school bus gap similar to a hatchet?

  • After how seeing how they did my boy Mikey in those last few Halloween movies, shoot he's gettin' whooped in every one of these matchups. Even against Larry.

  • When they spot you, they know the end is near.

Whenever you open a Locker, Ultimate Weapon activates for 30 seconds:

    • Survivors entering your Terror Radius scream and reveal their location to you.
    • Those Survivors suffer from the Blindness Status Effect for 30 seconds.

Without saying the 30 seconds the perk is activated, what CD?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I know it's off-topic, but I did read in this forum several times that users think The Artist is strong...

May I ask why you think Artist is strong? Because in my opinion, I think The Artist is massively overrated. She is basically an M1 killer with a weak ability. Only cheaters hit long range crow shots twice, and in short ranges I don't think the crows are that good either.

    Back to topic:

For me it would look probably like this:

    S: Nurse, Blight

A: Xeno, Spirit, Executioner, Wesker, Oni

B: Plague, Huntress (depends heavily on map though), Hag (with Waterlogged Shoe build)

    .. and the others below.

Hard to say really. Someone who plays Artist more could probably chime in on this.

When I see praise for Artist it for having great potential. You can snipe from across the map, being able to apply all this pressure from a distance, plus every good information, regression, and aura perk works great on her. That being said, I think it's challenging to play her at her fullest potential. That is probably why you may not see them as much.

She is more difficult to master than PH imo and simiarly if you can't hit your ranged ability, or you are having trouble keeping birdie up, then you are just M1 killer getting pre-dropped and shift +w around the map and survs will eat you alive.

  • I would agree that Xeno is easily top 10 with potential to even be a top 5 killer. When I think of this killer all-around It has mobility to keep up with the best with available access to multilevel structures, mixed in with strong on and off-chase potential, a lite slowdown mechanic w/ secondary objective, ability to play around pallette, window, and small objects currently with ranged tail attack, and built-in tracking that adds to build variety since it frees up a perk slot from lethal. Basically all the things the best can already do to a degree.

I feel your newer player would have an easy time picking this killer up and having a chance of doing moderately well. Veteran players will either like or hate because it isn't their main/ or is now their new main if not getting put in the rotation more.

    "two strong effects"

Are you really saying 30 seconds of Blindness is a "strong effect"? And searching lockers isn't really part of the natural gameplay loop, at least not nearly as much as simply *be injured*.

But yeah, Ultimate Weapon is kind of just Doctor's Static Blast except it lasts 30 seconds instead of being one and done until cooled down, it requires checking a locker and it doesn't inflict Madness. Oh and it doesn't have to be charged, gives no warning it's coming and works on survivors hiding in lockers. Plus the minor annoyance of Blindness. So overall I'd say it's better than Doctor's Static Blast. Weird having a perk that's just part of a killer's power but better.

Yes, I am. Lockers are not exclusive to Huntress or Trickster gameplay alone. I check lockers frequently in my games, even more so with incentive, no matter the killer. The first effect is great alone like Infectious and synergizes well with other good information and aura perks like Whispers, Darkness Revealed, and the likes.

Blindness is impactful on games. The 30 Seconds of blindness is just that, information denial. It counters a meta perk like WOO, on-the-go which that option alone killers all around should be rejoicing about. It also synergizes well with multiple blindness perks and add-ons which can be a nightmare for survs to handle because it prevent them from having the information they want to have, mainly in chase but that doesn't limit its uses outside chase like locating a downed surv in the immediate area. That's why I say arguably could be separated. It is indeed a good multitool perk across the board and makes characters who do more directly utilize lockers even better.
