When are we getting an official confirmation that this is a bug with her lobby model. I would think a bug as simple as her RBT missing from her lobby model could be fixed within 4 hours of a work day. Yet, here we are and this bug has been an issue for just about a year now. It's a freaking missing RBT, not Skull Merchant changes…how long does it take to fix?
Can we get an official response from a BHVR dev in this thread, please?

Thanks Count. 👉️🐽

I hear you, but I just dont get that logic..
The bus for sure dosnt wait another 10 mins, to make sure everyone gets on board.
If im 10 mins late for a job interview, just to make sure the the guy im talking with has time to be there before me, i pretty sure im not getting the job.
If people are late for streams that are set to start at a certain time, its their own fault. It would be far more professional to start on time, especially for a company of their size, i dont care if streamers are late, but BHVR is a big company, and I would expect them to respect their audience’s time for official announcements.
Took the words right out of my mouth (literally). I acknowledge the technical issues, but completely unprofessional at many levels as a company of their size to not to have a support team that has that ironed out so things are ready to go live on-time. It gave off a very unserious image.

Legion was a popular choice but they weren't in every game. I saw a Legion in about half of all my 2V8 trials (4 out of 8, the same number of times as Wesker and Huntress). But the first version of 2v8 really did have a Huntress in every trial and after that I didn't want to see a Huntress again for a very long time, so I do get it. But just because a Killer is popular in a mode, it doesn't mean they should be removed from it. It's not like there's a huge amount of choice, so you're bound to get repeats of the more enjoyable unlicensed Killers to play as.
Spot on. Put 10 more killers in the next 2v8 and then comeback and talk with us. I guarantee the hate simmers down once more of the roster is opened up. Talk about putting the cart before the horse…😑

Did they even stream on YT? I couldn't find it anywhere. I know it's on Twitch, but I'm not sitting through 17 minutes of KitKat Chunky adverts. I'm not a fan. Too much wafer, and not enough chocolate.
They had technical issues at the beginning and brought this question up. Iirc it was only on Twitch due to the technical issues they were dealing with beforehand that made the stream start later than the initial start time.

Hope you're looking forward to even longer killer queues next 2v8...
I hope you're looking forward to the killers who rightfully complain that Scout is a broken class and needs to get removed if they aren't providing good killers to counter 2v8's Pallet Towns. With the new pallet density update, there should be more than enough now anyways.

Very disappointed and grumpy about this change. I've got zero reason to play 2V8 now that my main has been removed. Besides, I've only really been playing 2V8 Survivor at this point to kill time while queuing for Killer anyway, so that's me sitting the mode out from now on. Survivor in 2V8 has become stale for a while with the same 4 classes since version 1 and I'm sure as hell not queuing up to play against the buffed up versions of my least favourite Killers (Wesker and Spirit) if there's no Killer game for me to look forward to.
Why did they add Legion in the first place when they knew there would be complaints about them? Surely they know Legion is an unpopular Killer with a lot of Survivors. I felt they had PLENTY of counter play in 2V8 but it's whatever at this point, the decision has been made. It would have been better not to have added them at all instead of first gutting and then removing them, because this move from BHVR has ticked me off and really soured the mode for me.
Same here my friend. So so so same here that I'm still over here facepalming and i'm all out of face to palm at this point bro. The very irony too that it was prefaced with "we're hitting the reset button with the community" mere moments before taking a giant dookie right on a portion of your player base is…truly astounding.
Like, why not just start doing a rotation of killers, that way every time it's up you get a new batch of power synergies, it's random who those handful of killers are gonna be, and we can have some more variety quicker, since it's apparently a problem and taking a long time to put the entire roster in 2v8. That's me just brainstorming for 5 minutes and it's already more reasonable than straight-up removing Legion, and a good change up from the same-ol-same-ol every single time for your player base. But nah, lets just do more work for less options that lead to ultimately stunting this game mode and inhibiting it from ever reaching it's full potential.
Like, BPMain was saying too, we haven't even gotten the whole roster yet. So, what does that mean for the killers with multiple powers that are guaranteed to be good out-of-the-box and how they will be under scrutiny for simply existing, but I guess we might as well now just say here and now they aren't coming because they are too hard to balance and will be too unpopular.
I just feel more for every single player out there who has waited ever so patiently for their main to come to 2v8, waited for THEIR reason to finally jump in, and this move now jeopardizes that and means they may never see their main in 2v8 after waiting a long time.

@ImWinston said:
- I repeat, the problem isn't Legion but the absurd synergy it has with every 2Vs8 killer (maybe except Billy because he's an instadown). Let's forget about the Legion + Oni combo (for obvious reasons), but Legion also makes a Nurse an instadown. You can stun Legion and eliminate his power for about ten seconds, but if he's already put 3 people in deep wound, what exactly have you achieved? It's not that easy to split up on a map (even a large one)... you'll arrive at a moment when you're close to someone... we're not 4 players, but 8... no matter how big the map, a decent Legion will always be able to wound 2-3 people in a power session. It's obvious that healing is useless, but if you have to fight even a simple "Wraith" that suddenly appears, you're in a lose/lose situation. Legion and Plague are balanced killers because they have extreme ease in hurting people, but then they have to work M1 to get a down... in 2vs8 they do the "first attack", then someone like Wesker (example) just has to finish the job. Of course, there are also the less experienced legions (like any other killer in the game), easy to stun and easy to "bodyblock"... but if you know even a little bit how to use this killer, nothing stops you from being an EXCEPTIONAL support killer in 2Vs8. But if what I said isn't clear enough, why is Legion in 2Vs8 magically the most played killer ever... has everyone suddenly fallen in love with Legion? Are they crazy? Or maybe there's a deeper reason?
I understand that and agree that he has strong synergy, but I refer you to @UndeddJester 's reply and add that there's a lot of issues going on all at once when it comes to Legion. The skill issue, the player mindset issue, issues with the actual balance of the gamemode and core gameplay, and so on. There are plenty of issues that go beyond just synergy…So What? That's supposed to be a ball and chain now that limits the game mode to only ever have killers that aren't deemed an issue? Okay, well who is that? Me, you, and another person could put 3 different lists of killers out who fit that criteria and all 3 lists would have different killers on that list. We could have any issues with synergy, this game has a huge roster of over 40+ killers.
But when it comes to how well a killer power performs, they've opted to not handle any actual issues, which the next logical question is, well we've had plenty of recently released killers who have multiple powers, we have a roster of killers that came base with anti-loop, anti-shift+W, anti-fun (if you ask some survs), so by extension this implies we should not even look to implement these killers because the response will be met with "They are too strong and were never meant for 2v8". Why even have hope for future additions for this gamemode now?
Why couldn't they just do small rotations of killers and do balancing adjustments during the off-period those characters aren't on rotation? Surely there were many, many more options out there.

I do have a fundamental issue with the notion "Legion can't work and should be removed from 2v8". This gates everything that isn't chase out of the mode because soloQ can't handle it, not cause there is something inherently wrong with tbe power.
My personal opinion is neither Legion or Oni needed buffs, their powers naturally synergise with 2v8, and leaving them as is would have been fine.
If Legion does need some extra thought, and if you really need to hard nerf Legion in 2v8, have their power only last 4 hits, but the 5th hit only deep wounds and causes Legion to drop power immediately. Perhaps have it so on the 5th hit the Survivor doesn't get the post hit speed boost. This is a strong arm to severely hurting Legion's power and oppressiveness in 2vs8, but even this would be far more preferable than removing the character completely.
We have some really smart people in these forums... to just give up and say "remove Legion", I can only describe as cowardly.
Legion's fundamental issue has always been Survivors need to play the Legion game, and if they don't they lose... and SoloQ has too many people who can't or won't figure out how to play against him, and thus give him everything he wants to win... and this problem is amplified further in 2v8.
I have had games I've beaten a Legion in 2v8 when I've had a number of players who are clued in, and I've had games where I can see Survivors playing obviously incorrectly get smashed by Legion. The same counters apply, but you need Survivors who will actually use them.
If all 2v8 Survivors did the following for Legion, they'd do a lot better:
- Avoid clumping and spread out, never have more than 2 Survivors in close proximity.
- When Legion starts chaining head to edges of the map and make it more difficult to chain.
- Body block for your teammates if you have deep wound.
- Stay in Deep Wound as long as possible before you complete the mend.
- Leave healing for the Medics and make strong use of their active cooldowns.
- Play for stuns and wearing out Legion's timer.
- Use things like window techs.
- If all else fails and you really need to stop a Legion chain, jump in a locker so he has to drop out of power.
Survivors have options vs. Legion, and to say this shouldn't exist in the same arena where we have triple blink Nurse/triple dash Wesker, and Wraith with 4 of his add-ons basekit to make pretty much all Wraith counterplay non existent... is just close minded bias to me.
This is so well said and beyond. It covers most of the pain points I have with this decision. Well put as usual, @UndeddJester , can't upvote enough but take my internet points. 🏆️

- I don't mean to be rude, but it was clear from the start that Legion wasn't a good addition to 2v8. Out of 100 games played, maybe 10% were without Legion... he's an overly strong killer as a "support." Same goes for "the Plague"... his gameplay isn't suited to 2v8. Anyone who doesn't understand why either has no idea what DBD is, or is just being really malicious.
All I can say is I'll be looking forward to Scout getting removed now since they removed 1 of the only barriers to reasons there aren't more complaints about the class. Now you just have a bunch of pallets to deal with with in a game mode that has a cast consisting, for the most part, of m1 killers who lack the answers their counterparts not in the gamemode already have. And if you don't know that, you don't know DBD

Ah killing skull merchant is fine. Removing legion from 2v8 is fine. Soon you're not allowed to do anything.
Yeah, this game is done for.
From what I gathered here so far, people just have a very small and narrow idea and definition of what they see 2v8 as and it can't grow beyond this tiny box they've placed it in. Devs have also been slow pushing out a good amount of changes, and introducing new killers which is apart of it too imo. If this is the case, might as well wrap it up at this point rather than have the game mode get more killers, more mechanics, grow and change more because "No i've already decided this killer won't work and it will never work and I don't like it." mentality. Doomer mentality.
Rant: I'd love see multiple lists of killers that won't work. Just like how we have all these tier-lists, make one for the killers that someone believes "won't work" Then enjoy this discussion amongst yourselves on the differing opinions on why they will/won't work. Is Skull Merchant doomed too? Houndmaster? Sadako because Condemn? Probably so. Should those dedicated mains who have waited years to see these killers implemented punished simply based on player dissatisfaction with the character?
Just an awful, awful precedent and shame on anyone who supports and thinks they have the omnipotence, let alone the right to make that decision for everybody. Why should someone care what you think about their character of choice? Last I checked, that wasn't anybody's business.

Some Killers don't work in 2v8 and we shouldn't try to force them in when they make the gameplay worse.
Okay, now that Legion is gone please provide your entire list of killers that YOU think don't work in 2v8. No mentioning Legion, this list is open to every other killer not in the mode yet. I'll be waiting with intrigue for this comprehensive list.

Legion's power is fundamentally incompatible with 2v8. His ability to Injure the whole team for free is balanced out by the fact he has no chase power to help him get the down. Adding a second Killer who has a chase power to the mix, removes the one thing keeping Legion in check.
Legion either needed reworked completely for 2v8 or removed. There was no other option.
I just cannot in good faith subscribe to this school of thought when he has multiple counters around any given map, the scout class exists, medic exists, and they are one of the only killers in the game mode that can provide any semblance of consistent pressure against Gens flying.

As a former legion main, thank God they are out of 2v8.
Who would've thought that throwing one of the least pleasant Killers to face into a 2v8 that is...precariously balanced would be a bad idea.
He should've been fully reworked instead of re-tuned, but it is what it is now.
A rework would be one thing, especially if they phrased it "Until we find a way to reintroduce this killer". Now, any future killer can be under scrutiny. And from the killer side, how about Scout class and how one of the least pleasant classes to face in a 2v8 and equally as obnoxious from the killer perspective as Legion is to survs? They are not fixing problems, they are making them less bad, which you and I both know has never been the solution, despite it being their M.O. for many years. Band-aid solutions.

We could make this stream into a drinking game
1 shot when they use the word "soon"
2 shots for "I can't share that information"
3 shots for "we're monitoring the situation and/or player feedback"
4 shots for "It's on our backlog"
Chug a (root) beer if they announce the anti-tunnel & anti-slug they are working on
Jager bomb if new license teaser trailer
Drink an entire fifth if Pig gets nerfed
Pour some whiskey on rocks and sip throughout the entire conversation of how high MMR was the reason behind a specific nerf to unpopular killer
Any more?
-
Why does it matter? Say MMR was properly functioning, say they bent over backwards to do this. You'd still have the majority of people pissed they are losing games and still saying they aren't being matched up with players of equal skill level. How do you prove MMR is where it's supposed to be without visible numbers or a unique ID? Gameplay is not enough to go off of, you need to SHOW the MMR numbers as well. Let players SEE their own number and let them see others during end-game screen (possibly survivors in pre-game lobby as well).

I don't think they will completely revert the pallet changes, but instead focus on rebalancing it on the maps that were severely affected.
Shouldn't this have been the approach they should have used for fog vials too? Instead they just did a sweeping adjustment across the board rather than granular ones? If they touch pallet density, what makes you sure they'd turn their focus on individual maps rather than their M.O. of wide-sweeping changes?
I see they are trying to take organized feedback for each map in their social spaces, but I'm seeing many disagreeing opinions on whether a map needs pallets or not for each realm. This community couldn't even collectively agree that the sky is blue.

Chase perks can help you as killer but if that team is solid on gens and efficient then the chase perk wont help you the same as another slowdown or endgame perk because you bring it to make chases same or little bit shorter but then you making their gen effiency bigger even if dont want to. Another fact is dissolution is showed for survivors on their screen, endurending+spirits needs build up and then it has easy counter just hold W if killer swings or predrop dont try to stun him, blood favor or the trickster hex for windowns are hexes which means they can be cleansed and lost through the match, brutal is only strong on killers that can catch up like blight or maybe wesker, chucky or killers that have synergy with it like mayers in pursuer mode, wraith with kicking addons (even the wraith doesnt need it if he has purple kicking addon shadow its called I think), bamboozle is good on average i forcing strong loops paletts like shack or jungle gyms down and has synergy with instadown killers like billy, bubba. Weskers perk superior anatomy is good when you mindgame window which isnt conected to other window or palett in short range so like shack is good exsample to use it on but you have to vault perfectly when the survivor is near that window to get that m1 hit or hit with power so its weaker chase perk, vecnas dark arogance or what its called is just good for synergy in window builds but it will make you stuned longer (I dont know if stuns kile ds, head on will stun you longer too but maybe they do) so its not good to use it alone, lastly unknowns perk that has been nerfed ( when you damage survivor you will get time window in which when you vault you will get some speed buff) and its not useable or only on few killers its just bad perk as dark arogance they are not worth of running.
From chase perks (perks that help you deal with windows or paletts) its all I think and they have pretty easy counter or most of them so against experienced survivors wont help drasticaly as many people think.
Respectfully, can we please get some formatting? Holy wall-of-text Batman.
Most of this just seems like a lack of experience talking, or sounds like nonsense losing reasons to not be using them. I see you try to completely downplay Blood Favor as Hex perk bad, but this perk can down survivors in 9 to 10 seconds of total chase time on its own. That is 2x faster than the average length of surv chase time (20 seconds) It can absolutely be the difference maker and in terms of value it is among the STRONGEST early game snowballing perks up there with Lethal and Corrupt and benefits just about every killer top-to-bottom. Not worth discussing this any further.
Have a good rest of your weekend.

So we're all on board with nerfing the S tier killers that powercrept old maps so hard we needed this update right? Because 3 of them were released in the last year so someone needs to get through to BHVR to stop doing that and bring them in line with the majority of the roster. Otherwise what you're saying is its perfectly fine that killers get to stomp every match because they choose one of the 5-6 busted overpowered killers. If we "fix" the maps for muh poor M1 Trapper who doesn't use his power, the 1k winstreaks will continue unabated.
Also yet another thread completely ignoring all the changes to maps that were killer sided in this update. Main buildings nerfed. Maps shrunk. Strong jungle gyms replaced with new trash gyms. None of that helped killers? So another update where we revert everything good for survivors and leave everything good for killers? does that sound about right??
Don't forget how no one is bringing actual counters killers have to pallets at their disposal to these discussions so far. Chase perks like Dissolution, Blood Favor, and Brutal Strength should be the answer, but I see now we're just skipping over adapting and going straight to nerfs. God forbid a DBD player should have to adapt or change 1 perk from their 4-gen slowdown build they've had since 2020.
-
I'd recommend you start putting 1 chase perk on like either Dissolution, Hex: Blood Favor, or even Brutal Strength into your build to handle pallets. Happy to give some build ideas to beef up your m1 chase experience.

Yep.
And apparently that's all we're getting for the foreseeable future. Since the anti tunnel and anti slug updates would've actually addressed some of the core problems causing this, but are on pause indefinitely.
For me, the real salt in the wound is that the "go next" system punishes players for how their opponent plays (abuse case). It's a punishment system by design. Yet the official reason they pulled anti tunnel is because the system was "too punishing and abusable". Like, FFS, be consistent.
Do you think we'd see the same result if they just removed the 4% and left it at that? I think the additional layer they added on was overkill myself.
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4006926#Comment_4006926
This is the "anti go next" system at work though. The DC penalty rework was also part of this.
They did remove the 4%, but that was a tiny part of it. The real "go next" system is a convoluted behind the scenes system that does exactly what op describes: it attempts to evaluate if a survivor is "trying" and if they aren't "trying hard enough" they get a warning, then increasing dc penalties for what the system sees as "giving up".
And if a survivor gets hard tunneled out of the game fast enough (by the killers discretion), they will get this warning, even if they are trying to play.
The system is awful, and overly punishing people who did nothing wrong, yet they pushed it out initially in 9.0 with no testing, pulled it, and snuck it back in with no warning later.
And it also hasn't solved the issue of people giving up either.
Who would have thought punishing players instead of addressing the issues surrounding the problem wouldn't solve the issue. Oh yeah, only anyone who saw it plain as day on the forums, many of us in this thread even, and other sites who were collectively screaming it to the high heavens at them. The part about silently re-enabling the system without any mention of fixes is really what puts salt in the wound though.

Billy is better than Krasue by a mile and a chainsaw. Another killer being burned at the stake due to a witch hunt because Survs refuse to play the game against any challenging killer. Surv players DC and ruin their team's chances of winning and then act like it's the killer's fault for their teammates lack of commitment to play the game they readied up for. Just like how they acted with Dracula's release and many other killers. Crying foul and refusing the play until A-tier at best killer gets nerfed to C-tier.
Lets face the facts and call a spade a spade… Survs simply just hate a challenge and want easy games. That's why they just DC in their games with her and just run to the forums to cry foul. Tell your teammates to stop quitting trials with her, learn the game, and maybe there wouldn't be this mass hysteria knee-jerk reaction from the community. Let the data speak for itself. Stronger than Nurse and Kaneki? Oh for crying out loud, give me a break. I heard the same hysteria for ST on release too.

You dont "only go against the best"
Better players than me think she's busted. Worse players than me think she's busted. There's a select few who think she's mid.
Played since 2017 and all I do is win. A skill issue is a skill issue. Many players think shes not that great as many who think she's busted. You know what they say about opinions. How about we let the data speak for itself and quit with the knee jerk and reaction farming.

Also, nurse is not S tier if she is a bad player, neither krasue, you are just getting horrible krasues, I guarantee to you, if you go against a smart krasue you will change your mind very fast.
I keep hearing that its bad Krasue players, but i'm high MMR and only go against the best on NA East. Starting to think it's just the killer who is bad and the players are overestimating Krasue not the other way around.

I have to agree with the OP on this. Way too much knee-jerk reaction on a killer that is at best B-tier, possibly low A. I'm not seeing the outrage for a mid killer. Give them time to sort the bugs out.

Why am I not surprised your entire reply is off-base, lacks any semblance of reading comprehension, critical thinking, or actual experience? Not that my post needs an explanation, but…
The majority of console players are not gaming with a keyboard attached to their console at all times, if even a majority of the time. It has nothing to do with "rarity" and everything to do with culture of the console gaming environment, other peripherals like external storage and chargers taking up limited USB hubs, and a historical lack of keyboard support on most titles that come to console. Most players would still be pulling up an app to type on their phone's virtual keyboard, whether it be an app or typing directly on console, which in either case will be leagues slower than what your average troll and sh**poster can put out per second. I'm sure there are plenty of PC players eager to test that out, so I don't need to be proven correct now. Time will do it, as it typically does.

Even the ones where I dont talk to on discord but rather we just recognize each other in game, its always fun to have them around.
As for those who are saying "youre not missing out on much". Let them make that choice.
Nah m8, console players will be in shambles when they realize PC players can type faster, say much more, and constantly roast them as they struggle to keep up on their little virtual keyboard. Trying to save support the time and hassle of having to go through an incoming flood of Recover banned account e-mails.

Console not having chat is a blessing in disguise. Trust, you're really not missing anything and it keeps a lot of players (like myself) from the temptation of saying something they will regret later. It's not worth the toxicity.

I'm voting with my feet.
Just logged in for a solo queue match, got a ghoul. He hard tunneled out the first survivor found. Then the second. Then he slugged me for the 4k. The first unhook, I threw myself between the claudette and Ghoul and he would not chase me. Just went around me to get the the tunnel down.
I agree punishment for the behavior is the only option. Tunnelling needs to be deleted from the game. It is far too effective and simple. It nearly removes the hunt and chase parts of the killer game play. They just need to get that first hook. If that happens quickly the killer wins. It isn't fun for the tunneled or the other survivors now doomed to lose.
I'm not even sure why BHVR struggles so hard with this. Make decisive strike 5 seconds as it was for years. Give the unhooked a haste buff until someone else is hooked. Then put the antislug from PTB in. Maybe that wouldn't be perfect but it would be a good start.
Ever since patch 6.1, BHVR has systematically weakened every tool survivors have. This was done to shake up the meta. The problem was the meta was what it was to overcome the behavior of killers. It had little to do with the strategy of the game. Decisive, Unbreakable, Dead Hard were needed to last long enough against a killer that chose to tunnel. If the killer didn't tunnel or slug, those builds lost most of their utility.
It's like every problem the game currently faces stems from those choices. Survivors now don't take decisive, so they take a perk to speed gens or speed healing so they can get back to gens. Now gens feel faster then ever.
Until this situation is improved I'm out. Good luck.
Great write-up. Very observant of the pattern in the balancing trajectory and hits the nail right on the head. Part of the reason thinking about these changes as a whole pisses me off. I don't blame anyone for doing the same. Best of luck my dude.

The changes were boneheaded tbh
I agree. Both phases.

I agree with you 100% op. I just can't stop facepalming at this BONEHEADED decision. Even more boneheaded to post it on a Friday! You sell hope to players who have been looking for hope only to pull it last second? I mean talk about shooting yourself in your own foot…and repeatedly. And even more so what message does that send to your community? I think it's becoming clear what that message is, and whether they like it or not that people will come to their own conclusion on how this action will be interpreted. How many more "We're sorrys" do they get? As an OG player, I've pretty much run out at this point. Maybe it's just my cynicism, but I mean they really need to pull something out of the hat, and quick as you said.

Realistically, where can you even go from here to revive the system? It feels like this was definitive and now when they go back to the drawing board what can you possibly draw up in those discussions to bring to the table that appeases the frustration of both sides? Maybe i'll be wrong, always glad to be, but I just don't see how you can turn this around and also present a better alternative that isn't boiled down severely because you can't really go anywhere else with this system.
